What a bizarre thing to complain about.

The devs already said it was unintentional. McLean said on his stream there are objects in the way of these specific windows in order to always force a medium vault no matter what. They intended for these windows to be less powerful when you loop them in a particular direction.
The issue is that there is a brief period where you can slam yourself into the wall and still get a fast vault despite the fact you are technically not moving. This is what is being addressed, not because it's "too powerful," but because it was never meant to happen in the first place.
And that still has nothing to do with the devs wanting it to be "realistic."
I'm done debating with you.
-
Nah, it's likely being changed because the devs feel it's too strong, not because they want it to be more realistic.

Ah yes, thank you for proving my point, I was just about to bring this up.
If you read the description of Doom Engravings, it very clearly says, "Fills the User with determination." Also the steering addons are BOOTS
This means Billy's speed is all his own. The chainsaw isn't carrying him forward.
Debate over
It could be argued that the chainsaw can only move forward and the boots allow him to redirect it by giving him better traction. That doesn't mean it's him running.
As far as filling the user with determination, that could just mean he's able to get more out of the power of the chainsaw.
I admit I could be wrong but it's vague enough where it could go either way. Regardless, your basic premise that the Entity's realm must abide by the law of physics for survivors is nonsense.
-
"And because the Entity is trying to Kill the Survivors? I'm not really understanding why you think it would give them a bone to chew, outside of what it graces them in chests or Bloodwebs."
The Entity is not trying to kill the survivors. It pits the killers against them because it feeds on ALL of their hope and despair, survivor and killer alike. Your argument also makes no sense because you admit the Entity helps survivors with perks and items but then ask why the Entity would help them.
-
Why would the Hillbilly need add ons to increase the chainsaw's steering if it was just him running? His add ons also say things like "slightly increases the Chainsaw's movement speed."

What makes you think his chainsaw is moving him forward? Lol that's a weird way to look at it, considering he holds it above and behind him slightly.
Why can't he just, yknow, be sprinting full speed on his own? They are given supernatural strength by the Entity, you know that right? Billy is the only Killer that actually sprints. Normal movement for Killers is just a brisk walk.
I think that because that's what's happening. Regardless, if your logic is that the Entity can give Hillbilly the power to run really fast, and the power to survivors to withstand killing blows, why would the Entity not be able to give survivors the power to vault faster than in real life?

Yes, with the conservation of momentum and the fact that you can't die, you would suffer an inelastic collision.
I'm clearly talking about the Hillbilly using the chainsaw as a mode of transportation.

Correct, because as I just explained, the concept of death does not apply to the Entity's Realm, but the standard laws of physics seem to apply.
Not sure why this is hard to understand.
So a chainsaw moving you forward is according to our laws of physics? What?
-
Then the killer could just camp the three gens closest to that totem and survivors would never be able to complete them or cleanse it. Also it would be absurd to have to complete a gen to get rid of Devour Hope. Add in Thrill of the Hunt and it would be nearly impossible.
-
Survivors can tank a chainsaw, jump off meat hooks unscathed, run a murderer around a pallet, can stab the killer with thin air, can easily endure multiple stab wounds and get sacrificed to a being called the entity.
I agree completely. It's an argument people make when they're running out of things to say.

Insert the old "hide and seek/hostage" situation all over again.
But there's an end game now. And they could easily fix that by making it so if you don't work on objectives for a certain amount of time your survival points stop accruing.

There has to be some semblance of realism in anything, otherwise it goes too off the rails and becomes a joke
There is this concept called "suspension of disbelief" that has to happen with any given media source. This is necessary in order to ground whatever it may be into something believable.
Good example: JoJo's Bizzare Adventure constantly has completely unrealistic scenarios that occur, but it still takes the time to cut away and explain some science behind what is happening, like when Kars gets his Lava Shield, it stems from air bubbles protecting his body, similar to how pumice forms.
Case in point, just because some unrealistic stuff happens doesn't mean that there still shouldn't be some realism. You are in an otherworldly place that defies the laws of death, but otherwise physics still applies realistically as it does in our world
Thus, things like Survivors fast vaulting from a standstill breaks the suspension of disbelief, because while I can accept someone tanking a chainsaw in a supernatural world where death doesn't exist, I CANNOT accept someone defying the laws of physics and gaining momentum from something that never occured.
You can't accept vaulting over a pallet but you can accept a chainsaw propelling a man forward at 20 mph from a standstill.
Don't be ridiculous, your complaint isn't with realism. I'm not sure why anyone even argues this point. Just say you think it's OP for survivors to be able to do that. I would respect an honest argument like that.
-
I think you can only see total playtime on Steam and Xbox. On PS4 you can only see your playtime when they release yearly reviews in January.
-
I got it on my second attempt. There's no reason to change it.

Go figure another time console players get screwed again while PC players are just rocking out, DBD should announce everything with "unless your on console" at the end,
They've come a long way when it comes to consoles. We used to have to wait weeks or months for content and updates PC got. Sure we don't get to participate in the PTB but simultaneous release is almost always guaranteed now and I think that's far more important.

This is an extremely niche scenario.
If when he standing right in front of the hook, the time for the person that saved you to move and him to pick you up is enough time to crawl just enough to get it off in time for it work. This is also assuming he just completely ignored the unhooker and didn't even hit them at all which is also very rare.
I've only ever had this happen to me once and that was before I never knew it could happen so I didn't try to leave the hook. Now that I know better this has never happened since and I always run DS.
What's your point? This bug only happens in certain scenarios so don't fix it?
-
Sorry but you're not going to ever love a perk that allows a survivor to instantly break free from your gasp. This perk has been nerfed, a lot, and made better by stunning during the pick up animation and not like 3 seconds later. I don't understand why you can't just accept that once in a while you're going to get hit by DS. Much less than used to be the case.
Plenty of killer perks and powers annoy the ever loving ######### out of me but that doesn't mean they deserve a nerf.
The devs can't keep nerfing perks until there are so few situations that they trigger that they become virtually useless. There's nothing written in a contract saying DS must only be an anti tunnel perk, but that's how it activates the majority of the time.
-
They should. Worst case scenario we'll need a second patch a day or two later but I doubt it.

Deathgardening intensifies.
Being serious for a second though, I don't really have critique for the idea itself, but the Entity doesn't necessarily eat people. It feeds on hope. Bringing it scattered body parts would not feed it very well.
Idk anything about Deathgarden. I'm a console gamer. I'm assuming there's a similar mechanic?
I did note that criticism in another comment and there are ways to use the system with offerings other than body parts.
-
@Shad03 said:
I do like the idea, however it shouldn't be body parts.
What should instead happen actually got suggested by @NoShinyPony
Make the body parts crystalized emotions. Despair would the lowest filling gem, suffering would be medium, and hope would be the highest filling.
That's devious. I like it!
@Rex_Huin Good question. I'm not actually sure. Maybe we'll find out in the archives. Would be cool if there was detective in the real world obsessively investigating all of the disappearances.
-
I had a longer reply that got messed up because the text box is glitchy on mobile, but @NuclearBurrito I like your changes and understand the desire for less RNG affecting the outcome of the trial.
And @NoShinyPony I see the problem with survivors letting teammates die and the difference between moris and other kills. Maybe I'd scrap that whole part of kills/sacrifices affecting hunger.
Thanks for the input.
-
Another thing I thought of: there could be offerings that increase/decrease the hunger meter at the start of the match.
-
I was a vegetarian for 10 years.
I just finished my bachelor's in psychology.
I'm also gay.
-
To the people who think the theme/Entity eating doesn't fit the lore, that makes sense. Instead of body parts they could be offerings of varying values that you give to the Entity as a gift. Instead of a Hunger meter it would be a Devotion meter or something.
Or I could argue that the Entity isn't actually eating the body parts, but the act of sacrificing to the Entity gives survivors more hope, making them tastier. ;)
Thanks for all the feedback from everyone!

What I think this helps with:
- gens going too fast
- makes a secondary objective more fun, not just holding a button
- more opportunities for BP = less grind
- survivors can get decent BP in the Survival category!
- a new mechanic to base perks and possibly killers on
-
Lol imagine still complaining about DS. Yikes.

@brokedownpalace Leader doesn't stack. So you would only reduce it down to 10 seconds like that.
And you'd be running 2 perk slots to accomplish that
Since when does Leader not stack? Is that new?
And I'm aware you need to run two perks but your version of Leader would be a pretty powerful time saver I'd absolutely take. Wake Up! is sort of sacrificing a slot for a perk you may never use but now with the EGC you're much more likely to get use out of it so it's not that big a sacrifice anymore.

Nobody's impressed by this lol.
-
Definitely some really good ideas in there. The only problem I really have is too many of them affect opening exit gates. A duo who both have Leader could reduce it to 10 seconds. Add in Wake Up! and it's down to 5. I just think that's too strong.
-
30 😱
-
More than a minute? Is that a joke? It can take up to 10 on PS4.
-
I think it's a fair trade. Map wide aura reading was a stupid power to begin with. How do you think it would be fair to see a sleeping survivor on the other side of the map and then you can teleport to a gen right next to them in 5 seconds?

20 seconds might be too short that's true.
I'd prefer the ranks just all be 45 seconds and each tier is 3/4/5 sec stun. It would still be worth using at 3 seconds with a 45 sec timer for tier 1 of the perk.
I can agree with that.
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/511429#Comment_511429
Mentioning lower ranks of the perk is pointless. No one measures balance at lower versions of the perk.
I'd like a 35/40/45
The devs have been going out of their way to bridge the gap between perks at tier 1 and 3 so each one is worth carrying even though it's weaker. This is especially important due to the grind. DS at tier 1 with 20 seconds would not be worth a perk slot. I wouldn't even carry it at 40 seconds, tbh.
That's why he brought up rank 1. It's not irrelevant.
-
Mods, arrest him!
-
Sorry, OP, nobody is allowed to have fun on this forum.
-
The devs are not one, monolothic being. Of course they each have their opinions. However, it would be unprofessional to come out and say something like "I hated Legion from the start. I told them this would happen."
That's a good way to, if not get yourself fired, show your boss and coworkers not to trust you.
They might even have to sign contracts saying they can't reveal things or share behind the scenes details.
