There's definitely a lot of matches where I wish I had brought DS or unbreakable, and I often run one of them. Just together it feels kinda cheap to make yourself essentially invulnerable for up to two minutes of the game. Same reason I didn't run old balanced landing with a haddonfield offering or abuse the (sort of) infinites.
I know it makes me a massive scrub but I'd rather lose than win with cheese, generally 😁
Nah respectable haddon field needs a nerf hate that map. Its incredibly survivor sided to the point it's actually boring.

I hate how strong and abusable DS+UB is, but killers like the one you described make me understand why people run it.
Yeah I rather not run it but that's why I do believe me I rather run meme perk builds but its punishing.

yeah sure. The meta is defined by both roles. Since looping is meta, nurse, spirit and Freddy are meta, since they can end chase quicker. Same goes for enduring spirit fury or dead hard being meta, chase related perks. If stealth will become meta, then iron will and calm spirit will became meta, same goes for stridor and whispers or doctor.
Exactly that's what I'm trying to say.

Alot of the killers can close the distance or down you before you get that opportunity holding w does not always work.

thing is, these perks are there for counter those unfun mechanics, no one likes to be tunneled, but ds punishes killers that dont tunnel, then if you dont use DS you will be gone in less than 2 minutes.
No one likes to be slugged, killers are forced to because of gen speeds (and because they want to) survivors use unbreakable cause no one wants to wait 4 minutes to bleed out / waiting for someone to pick you up
TL;DR: bad game design, devs dont want to fix gen speed, they dont want to fix tunneling/slugging
These are pretty similar to my exact thoughts you understand.

So when I see that a killer brings a Mori, I always bully them due to how many times I used to be insta Moried at the begining of the game. But...I've found that if a killer has a cool cosmetic, I don't mind being moried... Like especially if the cosmetic is new, I'd actually love to see it in a Mori. For example. I had two games. Both killers were Oni. Both brought a Mori. One had default skin, one had the Minotaur skin. I was mad that I got Moried with the default skin and literally crawled to make it so a barrel was blocking the whole Mori. But with the Minotaur one, I love the skin so much that I intentionally went down in a dead zone so I could also clearly see the Mori. It was sick and I didn't even mind it. I left that round thinking of how cool that skin is and how nice it looked in the Mori.
Is that wrong of me?
Sounds fair to me .

ds unbreakable is a combo too strong not to be used. That's it, these people can keep making other people look dumb cause they use bamboozle on billy (or old ruin on billy, while that very people used it on spirit, but that's another story), but in the current game state there is literally no point in not running meta if you want to win. The same applies to stridor spirit or bbq-pop and other killer's combos.
I mean sure the combo is strong but you can not deny it became meta due to what killers do. Vault build grew in popularity from ayrun and it's not meta.

Just play what you want , content creators can make any name or excuse for why they call a build what it is but those people are just pathetic it's a damn game you're supposed to play however you can to have fun , if they aren't bringing an optimal build to counter it then that's on them as a killer I don't care if they don't want to bring a Mori or whatever it is to equal the playing field for them, my point is if they aren't playing the best build they can to win then there's no room to call anything OP because they were too worried about limiting themselves from playing anything that might be considered OP. I swear these kids wouldn't have survived the old call of duty days they would've cried to nerf everything into the ground and reported everyone in the game chat spending more time reporting than playing the game
Nah I do but it gets boring and stale. I like to change it up. If we talking about cod lobbies you should of seen og gears of war man all the trash talk I wish we could go back to those days of gears. But I digress I'm only trying to say is you cant get mad at survivors using the bui km s if its killers that made it meta.

I would say purple and pink keys are even more game changing than the medkits with charge addons you stated, as they can turn a heavily unfavourable situation into a win. I would also say that styptic and syringe add ons can both be way more game changing than charge addons at the cost of being more situational, do you disagree?
Keys are sfm explanatory and bottled time can be countered by patient hits on people with medkits and waiting out it's what 8 second of use?

@Mister_xD said:

i really dont know how this turned into a "are items op or not" debate tbh...
i feel like you dont give most items the credit they deserve.
Keys are obvious; maps can be really good, especially when they have the ability to track multiple things and are eigther used in a SWF or with the Crystal Bead Add On; Flashlights are really strong tools when used correctly and so are Medkits. Sabotage Toolboxes can be very good, though they can also backfire and Repair Toolboxes, especially with BNPs are still really solide items to bring.
yeah they are not AS good as they once were, but (since you brought it up let me continue with this example) BNPs back in the day were ridiculous, no matter how you view it. that applies to most of these changed Items / Add Ons btw.
Imstablind Flashlights where you could literally turn around mid chase and blind the killer before they could even react to it or Instaheal Medkits where you could bring the freshly downed survivor back to full health before the killer was even done wiping off their weapon.
the nerfs and reworks were more than justified.
so if you just compare the current version to the old one, no matter what they do (unless they break the game once again) your opinion will always stay "oh wow thats trash".
look at them from a balancing standpoint, most are a lot better than you think.
I don't know either but it is fine. I don't give items credit because a lot of them are straight up trash
Yes keys are quite obvious they can win the game earlier. Maps are OK in swf, flashlights are only good in locker tech, otherwise it depends on the killers positioning. Sabo toolboxes are ok in swf and like you said they backfire. Commodious toolboxes with double charge addons and multiple bnps are the only way to get toolbox value. You need to bring specific add ons which are hard to find for the average player in a very polluted blood web. Combine that with ######### survivor BP gains its far from fair.
Yeah they aren't as good as before, yes bnps were op and needed to be changed, but damn at least move it down a rarity it does not deserve ultra rare. I got like 70 something way too much BP for a trash add on. It should go back to purple like it used to do or move it down to green. Odd bulb for example should actually increase blind speed to like 0.75 seconds at least its very bad and does not deserve ultra rare.
They needed to be nerfed but they didn't need to be made useless. I honestly would rather them be flat out removed and gifted BP. They gut our add ons but iri head is still active and hasnt had a change yet. Sure huntress is getting an add on pass but they couldn't at least disable that broken add on?
Yeah you are right I do compare the old to the current version they are trash. They didn't even bother doing anything to flashlight add ons, Mathieu got bullied by instablinds at that event and like 2 weeks later removed the effect from the game and didn't rework ti to anything else.
From a balancing stand point it would be better to remove and rein burst the BP from these items and add ons.
-
@Mister_xD said:

items still hold quite a bit of power, especially with certain Add Ons used.
you might be right that CERTAIN Add Ons or Items are quite bad, borderline useless, but, lets say, a green medkit with additional charges and speed add ons is really good for getting back in the game after the killer tried spreading the damage, or a BNP toolbox can make it super hard for the killer to build good gen pressure, especially when brought more than once. and we dont need to start talking about keys, do we?
survivor items still have quite an impact over the game. granted they are nothing when compared to killer Add Ons, but thats due to their ability to be brought multiple times in the trial.
Only medkits with charge addons and multiple bnps are game changing for survivors. BNP is a shell of its former self I'd only one is brought.
Survivor items hardly have an impact unless used optimally and in groups even then they still barely have power the addons have been gutted and we are still waiting for that iri head nerf.
Yeah they can be brought multiple times but that doesn't mean make them straight up weak. It's a waste of bp and makes survivor bloodweb polluted even more than they actually are. On top of that low bp gains the devs dont seem to care about and earning survival points being way too tedious.

It's a guessing game for both sides. I don't really see why people are so mad at Spirit. Are they mad because Stridor provides massive synergy with her Power? Imagine if people had that same energy for other perks that had good synergy with Killer's Powers. Like STBL with Demo's Shred, Ruin/Suirvellance with Freddy's teleport, Thana with Plague, Sloppy with Oni.....
Like honestly, she's an average Killer that you guys hold to such a ridiculous tier because people play her more often than others.
Not really a guess for the spirit if they have stridor and can hear exactly where you are. Training yourself to use sound as a killer isnt hard it's just free info.

Rank 1 Spirit chased me for nearly 3 gens, I'm a killer main and can still loop a Spirit and this is proof its not hard if you know what you're doing.
That spirit was bad. She vaulted a TL wall. You also some who took a hit. She had you injured and missed an open phase. She even couldnt get a hit on a Z wall. Atleast provide us a good spirit or you cant because it would be a short chase.

BHVR also said using DS outside of being tunneled is a smart strategy, and yet people complain about that.

thats not even a hot take, thats common knowledge at this point.
people that rely on their SWF to boost them are bad at the game but dont want to admit it, cause "they got their 2 to 3 man escape", forgetting it was against a Wraith after they send him to Ormond, stuffed themselves with meta perks and brought strong Items. honestly at that point it would be an embarassment to not get at LEAST two out. and even that just proves they barely were able to make it even with all their crutches.
that however doesnt imply that everyone who is playing SWF was bad at the game, sometimes we just want to have fun with friends - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
i am exclusively talking about those SWF groups that tryhard like their life depends on winning this game.
Survivor items have been nerfed majorly cant even have faster blinds! I have over 50 odd bulbs and like 100 plus hesl and halogens. They do nothing.

Nah, only when it's actually true. Like against BNP, keys, and 4-stack DS/UB/BT/exhaustion perk. If you need your friends to tell you when the killer is coming or when you should be focusing on a gen, then you're bad at the game. Bottom line.
If you don't need it, then go without and prove it to yourself.

Their power actively hinders you after the first hit. 4 seconds is more than enough time to get to a safe place as survivor.
Nurses are forced to get gud, just like any other killer. I think the fact that there are no redos if you make mistakes for killers is a testament to how difficult the role is. Survivor has its own intricacies, but the fact that the only stress comes from if the killer role does well really says something.
That's if the map rng doesnt screw you. It all depends on that because sure you have 4 seconds but I've seen so many dead zones lately I cant say it's the case all the time.
Making one mistake as killer is not gonna cost you the game unless you are against a tourny squad or optimal swf.

Mostly everyone who has a problem with getting stunned will tell you that there is a strong loop nearby, that they had Dead Hard, that they were getting gen-rushed etc etc. To try to justify the strength of the perk. Because without an actual situation like that, the perk isn't that strong at all.
Thays something I have noticed as well it's always specific scenarios that always have the killer being in an extremely unfavorable position. I think the perks balanced tbh. We can always have old DS if killers wanna complain.

You could say the same thing on slinger his psychological effect on survivors is so strong he can zone by existing. I'd DS wasnt like that survivors would be deleted in the first 2 minutes.

Sure that's your randoms I maybe find 1 or 2 randomw who are using self care nowadays. I think it just comes down to region. SWF>Killer>Solo
All things being equal, a great SWF will beat a great killer, All things being equal, a great killer will beat great survivors.
Feel free to disagree but with over 200 hours on this game and the forums, that has been my experience.
Also I'd like to say these advantages are slight and this isn't including multiple factors. Overall this game is decently balanced I'd say. 😅

I wouldn't be able to tell you why other people are bad? The majority of survivors I see are relatively good. You're literally running in a circle. To be entirely fair, if you are finding Survivor hard to play. Then maybe DBD is not the game for you. The only hard thing about Survivor is learning how to use Flashlights lol, other than that you are running in circles, holding m1, and teabagging.
Survivor is not hard for me I'm good at it. But to get good it is hard. It's not just running in circles.
-
@redsopine00 said:
would escaping in a loop half the time abd dying the other half count as optimal?
I'm confused but optimal looping comes down to prolonging the chase. If the killer leaves you because you are good then I'd say its optimal. You escaped the chase.
-
@TheButcher said:
... Is this a troll thread? Of course Survivor is easy. The whole role is divided between 4 people. As far as actual skill goes, most Killer mains can play survivor well, because Killer requires you to adapt to most of the survivors playstyles. Hell I was ######### at the game until I started to play Killer. Then when I played Killer I sat in red ranks as Survivor easy, I didn't even have to get good at Killer. I just needed to see what the better players do in chases, and through that I learned how to loop as survivor.
Comparitively as a Killer main, who also plays survivor both in red ranks, with over 2000 hours into game. Survivor is a hell of a lot easier than playing Killer ever will be.
What even is this thread?
I have 3k hours survivor is not easy to get good at. I'm talking about looping. If it was so easy then why are so many survivors bad?

My point about the gens was that it was the gens themselves which makes survivor easier, not the chases. Those who say the chases are easier either have godly skills, or poor matchups. So, I do see your point, but not that you should ignore it. Instead, counter it.
Maybe add examples to your original post, so we have something to go on. A general statement doesn't leave much room to move about with.
Ok that makes more sense I'll try that. People are taking it the wrong way. I'm talking about chases. So ill probably edit the main post to add an example of a loop. Well atleast something.

@Johnny_XMan said:
I agree.
If you don't know how to loop you will most likely die if you are the first one found. Because you are not giving your team enough time to do gens.
Many people that immerse most of the game and want to claim they did something worthy, don't realize they just got lucky they weren't found.
Of course all this also depends on the skill of the killer.
Exactly you understand but be careful this thread is growing hostile. Kinda exciting though.
-
@AvisDeene said:
Incorrect, I’m terrible at both roles though I equally enjoy playing them. As Survivor, I can’t loop well at all, but in order to compensate, I just play stealth with sprint burst as my get away card.
I just sneak around while doing objectives and the second Spine Chill flashes, I go into the shadows, wasting the Killers time while he looks for me. In the off chance that I get spotted (I usually do something stupid), I use sprint burst to get away and waste more time.
You just have to be competent when playing Survivor. The most difficult thing about the role is having to rely on your teammates.
Have you played against a competent killer? Stealth works but when you get spotted and suck at looping it's a quick chase no if and or buts. I love stealth players when I'm in chase its quick.

Also dude posted a vid to "prove" Spirit had no counter play and in the vid he did nothing but whine, carry useless perks, play like #########, and kill himself on hook and then has the nerve to tell other he's gonna play how he wants to LOL.
Call me condescending to people I have a disagreement with but that just isnt true. I never just whined. My useless perks was me trying to chill and have fun. If I were to run DS/UB like I usually do I could almost swear people would call it out.
It was my 2nd and 3rd spirit game I was bored out of my mind. This post is literally just me telling people not to say one side is easy if you arent good/dont play it. I dont understand what's condescending about that.

What makes you assume killer mains can't loop well? It's too much of a generalization. There's plenty of killer mains like myself who also play survivor sometimes and can loop decently and make chases last a couple minutes or more. I'm a red rank survivor too, and I think survivor is easy.
Have you always been this anti-killer? You got tunneled and camped too much?
I dont assume killer mains cant loop well. One of the best survivors I used to play with was a killer main. I'm not generalizing and saying all killer mains cant I'm speaking to the killer mains that well can't. If that makes sense.
I'm not anti killer at all. I play killer I inderstands the gripes and complaints. I'm just speaking for the survivor side of the community we are ignored and our problems are taken for granted because we were op in the past. The social media side of dbd is killer based especially reddit. If you don't hold a killer main pov you will have multiple people arguing with you.
-
@Rivyn said:
Why are all your arguments so black and white? 'If you claim this, but can't do it, or do it well, then you have no argument.' There are lots of things in life that you can have some outside knowledge on, even though you don't have the skill personally.
Survivor isn't considered easier due to a 1v1 chase, it's considered easier because your goal is to hold M1 on a gen. That's your only objective, unlike Killer, who needs to juggle four players at once. If you're in a chase, you have three others holding that M1 button.
That's not to say that unskilled opinions shouldn't be taken with a grain of salt. Skill and experience plays a huge part in an argument, no doubt. But to just write off opinions and ideas on a matter, comply because they aren't 'as good,' doesn't really keep a discussion open.
Yeah we arent talking about doing gens I'm talking about chases I am going to ignore your argument if you cant hold a long chase yourself and claim that, that is easy. I'm quite sure your skill as survivor lacks.
Yes you can have an opinion but it doesnt make it any less wrong. Some "opinions" are ridiculous.

If you think spirit doesn't require skill, then you haven't played against a red rank genrushing SWF
Yeah good Billy's arent uncounterable when you verse then. Billy is balanced. The player who is better wins. Spirit gives you no tells or information your input is meaningless.
Sure there are bad spirits that dont show spirits flaws but that doesnt mean they aren't there.

You don't have to be good at looping to do better at survivor than killer. I'm a prime example of that. My looping is mediocre at best. However, I know what I should be doing at any given time and that's far more important in the long run.
That's fair enough but still the short chases will put immense pressure on your team.

Firstly, she is a waifu, not a blueberry
Secondly, she is balanced and takes skill unlike SWF, more like cheat with friends
Firstly, she is not your waifu she is a blueberry, ms blueberry. Is it's a baby ms blueberry it's an exception it's a fun game always.
Secondly, she doesnt take much skill I'll say she has a skill cap not high at all. I watched dowsey face a tournament team as ms blueberry and they got slaughtered stridor takes away the "counterplay." It just boils down to guesses. Swf is only strong when it's a optimal team. It's not cheating when the devs allow it.

Yeah killers, running in a circle good is hard! You don't even know how much skill it takes to run in a circle a couple times! Sometimes, when I'm not showing off my skill by running in a circle, I'll even hold m1 for a couple minutes!
Survivor is much harder then killer, you tell em OP!
Solo survivor is harder than killer swf is easier than killer. It's not just running in circles.

Understable, but don't complain about spirit again
Nah I'll complain about ms blueberry until shes reworked to actually take skill.
