I mean, sure. But some times there's literally not skill involved with disgusting setups like shack window into long wall window jungle gym, or L T into jungle gym. Most of the time the only skill you need is being conscious of how strong the setup is and that it's better getting hit just to preserve the pallet.

No these are not including broken easy setups. Just good survivors who know how to chain even basic tiles together.

  • @Callmehandsome said:

Well it depends what kind of looping we are talking abaut. Looping the killer is easy if you just burn pallets like no end, run 1 loop and drop it. But mastering pallet loops when you can maximize killers time waste takes time to learn. To be fair there are some dirty RNG sometimes where even bad survivors can take advantage of it. I've seen sometimes long jungle gym window facing another long loop, which then faced shack window. Locations like these are gold mine for half decent survivors.

Yeah I'm talking about average RNG where things arent god tiles such ad a long wall into shack. A good survivor can connect any loop together and make it last a long time.

I hardly give a ######### any more in PvP, so I don't really try to play optimally in most PvP games. It's too much of a pain in the ass and requires short bursts of hyperfocus, which is exhausting to my ADHD brain. When a killer has sufficiently pissed me off or the mood strikes, however, I can give them a literal run for their money.

Alright I'll take your word on it for the sake of discussion. Now agree or disagree looping I'd the most impactful thing survivors can do.

  • I think it depends if solo survivor its harder. If its swf killer is harder. But neither sides are "easy."

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187227/if-you-cant-loop-optimally-as-survivor-dont-make-claims-such-as-survivor-is-easy

You know you just need to run in a straight line when you see the killer and you just bought your team 30 to 40 sec so yes survivor is easy

Killers that close distance like spirit, billy, nurse, legion, range killers holding w can work but not all the time.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

What if I'm able to escape nearly every time at red rank even with sub-optimal looping just by running in a straight line and not being an idiot?

So long as I'm able to do whatever my specific claim is it should be fine.

The point is atleast be versed in what you claim. If you are gonna say nurse is easy and never play her you sound dumb.

  • @Orion said:

There are other ways to play survivor. Don't try to gatekeep playing survivor or having opinions on survivor gameplay.

Yeah but looping optimally is by far the best way to buy time and win games. Even against spirit if you guess right and avoid being injured optimal looping will win you the game.

Can you not loop optimally? The way you type that gives me reason to believe so.

  • @Kebek said:

Well the same goes for survivors. If you can't play certain killer at high level, don't make bold accusations that he's OP or weak.

They can have any opinion they want though yet It's not like "survivor is easy" was ever solid argument to begin with in any serious discussion.

No I 100% agree it goes both ways if you think killer is easy go play it and find out.

There are good games and there are awful games. There is no in-between.

Devs, you need to do more and put more effort into better hit detection. I'm growing increasingly sick and tired of having a 40ms ping and getting hit when I'm 2 meters away after vaulting a window, and I still get hit. This is ridiculous. Yesterday I was even hit through a wall, the wall of the bus on Gas Heaven. The new hit detection beta hasn't made a difference at all in my opinion. It's not enough to just try and fix "laggy" killers, when you need to improve hit detection as a whole overall. :(

Devs dont care enough about survivor that's why you still get hit through windows.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I agree. You can't really make an informed opinion on something if you don't have accurate experience or research into it

You're acting like there's a mori every game. This may be the case at green ranks where you play - but at red ranks, it's not.

    But okay - insult me.

Hes a red rank killer and survivor dont make bold assumptions and hes good at it. Moris are common as hell I have way too many on my killers.

Yeah and plus I made some sound arguments and plus you usually agree with me anyways😂 but that crap is stupid I just wish this game could be balanced around 1v1 a bit too. The 1v4 def needs balance. But a 1v1 against a crap ton of pallets is basically a time waste and its illogical to just not deal with those pallets because then they will be used eventually. I just wish that wasting your time could have a benefit. If the early game thing last long enough then you could get these pallets quicker and survs would have to play smarter

I understand all too well. It comes down to making less pallets to make survivors learn to loop. Then the good players suffer from bad survivors, or more pallets because bad players throw them all.

People forget the 1v1 is the most interaction in this game and always when it comes to an argument like this they say "it's a 1v4 game." That's frustrating.

  • @Komodo16 said:

Solo sucks and there is no doubt. But if you have to swf everyday to get good and win, you suck. Now if you are just having fun this isn't really towards you so don't take offense. This is directed towards the swf that like to bully and teabag and talk trash for winning. Not everyone has the skill to beat people when you are on a team and especially with certain killers. But same for when you get cocky and misplay, just because someone cant use a power efficiently or couldnt apply pressure due to a certain map or whatnot does not make YOU good and when you get wrecked and get mad thats your fault. Now im not saying this because I got wrecked or something but in general swf get cocky or toxic and its dumb. I only play that way if someone played that way or im upset And I try my best not to. And to show a little of how a killer not being able to apply pressurw doesnt make you good. I played oni on groaning storehouse and had to deal with a swf. They weren't good, except on gens. So I suffered with some annoying loops and had a good start and a slower but decent game and even though I was doing fine the gens flew. And because of that they got cocky and I got my ability and I proxied hooks becaus they were altruistic and tried getting my attention. I'm not a bad killer so they basically gave me that win. They thought they could get away with playing cocky and sabo my hooks and farming and I wrecked them. So dont talk trash because you can m1 I play both sides and can 100 percent say there are situations you can't win. I 1v1 my friend @azame as a m1 billy as per the rules and we put it on blood lodge and he got the pallet city version. I had to bloodlust or break pallets to get him obviously he wasn't going to get mindgamed due to his skill and how long did it take me to get him? Enough time for multiple gens to be finished you know why? Because bloodlusting takes too long and breakimg pallets means they have more loops and even more and its a cycle and you have to ignore anyone who is in a strong area or prepared unless they suck at looping. So when you think you are good because you have good coordination doesn't mean much. Now I also know there are good players out there who dont fit what im describing so please dont take this as a call out to you guys. But dont be a jerk if you are gonna swf and dont get cocky. Its.already a hard battle for the killer don't rub it in

I read it all and that's my biggest issue survivors who pre throw and get gens done because of that. Annoying as #########.

If we keep getting ignored, and don't get a proper answer soon maybe we should try some sort of organised attempt to get console players + pc sympathisers to stop buying auric cells. Flood the forums, the subreddit, the discord, playstation community groups and its equivalents, social media groups, the fog whisperers' streams, the dev streams, the inboxes of everyone we play with or against etc etc

It could just fail but maybe something to consider if nothing works.

Honestly at this point we all have to get togeher and vote with our wallets like you said. If we do that we have a high chance of getting a response.

Nurse and Billy are pretty rare after their reworks...which were done because their powers were complained about.

People don't complain about Oni because he has to 'earn' his power with a single M1 (although there are topics/videos that appear complaining about Oni wiping teams in minutes with Infectious Fright, and his 'bug' that dropped 2x blood orbs while injured survivors did actions was recently 'fixed.').

Regardless they are still.both strong I started palying Billy again and boy double engraving flick billy is the most fun thing in the game rn. Nurse she can be annoying but unlike spirit has tells and has counterplay.

Good onis wipe teams it's fair they are good.

In most fighting games, there are legit moments/scenarios where people are forced to guess or lose - (IE in SFV, Mika's F.HP is +3 - If you block it, you have to guess whether she will S.MP/S.HP [you block] or go for a Command Grab [you jump/backdash]...there are no tells).

Overwatch also has scenarios like this that can win/lose fights - (IE Guessing when someone is going to use a stun and using Reaper's Wraith move to avoid it or keeping your own stun up if you guess they have ult but it never happens).

In DBD, people get upset (mostly at Stridor Spirit, I assume) even though they're already put into an unfavorable position (injured) by the 'power role,' and they've brought a perk (Stridor) to help them with that exact scenario.

The real problem, I feel, is that her power is actually useful in a chase:

Every killer that is currently being complained about (Freddy/Spirit/Pyramid Head/Death Slinger) all have powers that help them in chase / drastically cut down on chase times.

Look at nurse, oni, billy. They have chase powers they arent complained about. Oni in blood fury can get an easy down any flick billy who is experienced can cut the chase down significantly, and nurse is just.... nurse.

The aforementioned killers except freddy he has counterplay they just need to adjust his snare setting and give him like a movement debuff. Anyways they have really poorly designed chase powers that make sure your input doesnt really matter.

  • @immortalls96 said:

I never understood this false sense of godhood around spirit..I keep even stridor spirits occupied just by playing different than I would against other killers, I think honestly people arnt trying at all

Stridor doesnt make a spirit good I've handled stridor spirits by guessing correctly. You have yet to go against a good spirit who understands the power.

    Alright fair enough.

Here's a bit of information about development:

Just because the devs acknowledge something can be used in a specific way doesn't mean its its intended use.

In fact in most situations like this if these alternate uses of the perk get abused to badly they end up getting nerfed and that alterative strategy removed.

To give an example: The original relic shield in League of Legends was intended as an income item for tanks and the devs acknowledged that double bruiser/juggernauts with it is a valid strategy.

However it turned out to be so abused in the double bruiser/juggernaut strategy that the devs had to remove that strategy from the game by nerfing the relic shield because of the alternate use.

    Also PS:

Even Peanits has hinted at DS deactivating when you work on a gen would be a good change to the perk.

Fair enough but it's still not really abuse its optimal play. If the killer chases you and you have DS prolong the chase for a bit then hop into the locker now you have wasted alot of time for gens.

You could call tunneling abuse since you are stuck in an animation but we don't because it's not technically its optimal pla uh to get a free down to slug.

Peanits is a community manager he doesn't do the code and the changes.

Even if it deactivated on second hook it would still be super strong, because there would still be 4 minutes of invincibility, 1 for each survivor.

No you just have to hook another survivor for it to deactivate meaning you have to go find another I dont understand the problem with this unless you truly want to tunnel witn no downside.

Good on you that you don't take Moris too hard, really. I mostly play killer and avoid using Moris unless I encounter a toxic player or group I've faced before because I find it really breaks the pace of the game. The advantage they give for effectively no downside is significantly too high for an offering imo. Stuff like Devour Hope or the Cypress Mori are fine cause you've put in the work but being able to effectively eliminate 2/3rds of the survivors health states is a huge amount of leverage. But this isn't a Mori debate so I won't go on.

As for Franklin's, personally I think it's bogus that survivors get to keep their items after winning a match when killers always lose them so I can't say I feel particularly bad about that.

Killers have a higher bp average. Bbq has a secondary effect wglf does not. We don't want infinite iri head. Survivor economy is trash and blood webs are polluted with bad items. I'm lucky to have the items I want over 100 flashlights and probably 50-100+ of my other items.

The sad part is that's after spending millions of bp on one character. They should of reverted the addon change alot of killer maijs ik think tis straight dumb.

It simply says the devs acknowledge people will try to abuse it as a strategy but that doesn't change the stated purpose of the perk.

Edit: Also if I am reading it right its also mainly refering to people rushing at the killer with DS up as live bait(aka clickly clickly style).

How can you say its abuse the devs encourage it and call it smart stop saying that to exaggerate its effect.

Horvath: We decided to put a timer on Decisive Strike as one of the solutions to Decisive Strike being used too often, we tried 2 minutes internally and found that players were able to use DS a long time after being unhooked, where it no longer serves the purpose to protect you from being tunneled/ farmed

    People of the Fog,

Decisive Strike is one of Laurie Strode’s unique perks, which was released with Chapter II: HALLOWEEN in October of 2016. We introduced Decisive Strike as a perk option to help give Survivors a second wind, and an opportunity to escape their inevitable demise.

Over the course of the last few years, Decisive Strike has been a point of contention amongst our community, and as a result, the perk has had an interesting journey since its inception.

Decisive Strike has gone through some minor changes to arrive at its current state. Additionally, we have also prototyped entire reworks of the perk, some that we previously spoke of with the community. Ultimately, most of these ideas were shelved as we felt that they did not retain the essence of the perk, nor did they provide an overall improvement to the current version.

    Identifying Community Frustrations

To find a solution through which Decisive Strike would be valuable to our gameplay, we had to better understand our players’ irritations towards the perk. Here is a summary of our findings:

    • Up to four Decisive Strikes in a match: This perk can take a lot of the Killer’s time and completely break their momentum. In combination with other frustrations, this often comes back as a point of resentment for most Killers who face a Survivor team with Decisive Strike.
    • Risk/Reward: Not much of a downside using the perk, yet a huge advantage when used successfully.
    • Dribbling: This is when the Killer intermittently drops a Survivor to avoid the Decisive Strike trigger.
    • Obsessions: With only a handful of Survivor obsession perks available, it was often clear when at least one Survivor was running Decisive Strike. Killers would tend to actively avoid the obsession, or alternatively tunnel the obsession, forcing them to burn the perk early in the match.

The New and Improved Decisive Strike

For the new iteration of Decisive Strike, we have introduced certain conditions and outcomes for using the perk, while retaining the core concept of providing a second chance at survival for those who successfully use it.

The trade-off for using Decisive Strike comes at the risk of suddenly becoming the Killer’s latest obsession. The concept of changing the obsession while a match is in progress is something completely new to Dead by Daylight and is sure to create some interesting situations when combined with other obsession perks.

    • Perk starts inactive: No longer usable from the start of the match on a first down.
    • New condition: In a trial, any Survivor that has the perk equipped can activate and use Decisive Strike if they meet the condition - being saved from a hook or unhooking themselves.
    • Decisive Strike will only stay active for 40/50/60 seconds after being unhooked. This window of opportunity (gag) gives the Survivor only a limited time frame in which to trigger the perk after escaping the hook.
    • Decisive Strike skill checks will trigger during the pickup. This decision was made to help avoid dribbling and reduce the amount of time wasted for the Killer.
    • The skill check area will be slightly larger to make it considerably more accessible to those who occasionally struggle with hitting skill checks.
    • Stunning the Killer with Decisive Strike will result in the Killer dropping the Survivor.
    • After successfully using Decisive Strike, you will immediately become the obsession. This will remove the obsession from any other player, and any perks that refer to the obsession will now refer to you.

We believe these changes should help enrich the player experience for both Killers and Survivors. We’re excited to get your feedback regarding our new and improved Decisive Strike perk.

These changes will be implemented in the next update.

    See you in the Fog.

The Dead by Daylight Game Design Team

Does this say anything about anti tunnel?

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1579651#Comment_1579651

yes, it was created as a second chance perk, 100% ( very unhealthy for the game, 100%). The devs decided to rework it, because second chance perks can be overpowered, and this was the case, so it is no longer a second chance, but a completely new perk now supposed to be an anti tunneling perk as McLean said. You didn't watch the devs livestreams, that's why you don't know when and who said it

McLean may have said it but it was never stated to be anti tunnel by other devs si who is right why disregard other devs who said it not to be anti tunnel.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1579598#Comment_1579598

tunneling means you chase the person straight off the hook, directly with no other action in between, maybe 2 times in a row after the second hook just because that guy is on deathhook.

That's why ds exists, to completely prevent matches where literally I see nobody with ds and I just know I can deathhook super easily one person hook cornered in an angle of the map and get them out of the game really fast.

Doesn't matter what the community says, if the devs say one thing is supposed to work in another way, it is that way.

I know what tunneling is and the devs said DS wasn't anti tunnel. It was created to be a second chance perk. But you seem to complain about it's current form so maybe let's go back to it where you didnt need to be hooked.

Sure they designed it in an anti tunnel way it still isnt an anti tunnel perks the devs never said it was, it is a community given name so the argument that it is "anti tunnel" fails. It was designed this way because the devs didnt want survivors to have a free second chance to avoid hooks in general.

If it's against red ranks, I get the occassional 4k slug but not at 5 gens. Here are some screenshots I took during week 1 of crossplay as proof. If all 4 players are down and there is no Unbreakable, there is no reason to force me to stay any longer. The game is over. Go next.

No you're missing the point, the point is that the perk derails completely the purpose of being an anti-tunneling perk allowing survivors to go for super aggressive plays in front of the killer or hiding in a locker

Except the community says its anti tunnel not the devs.

As much as I do love this game. And I do. There are a lot they do wrong. The best thing I think they have done in a while is crossplay. But aside from that all the glitches, bugs, errors people still have been getting to this day and they have not even bothered to address is a little....meh to say the least. Call it whining/grieving whatever but no one can deny that there is a huge list of things that need to be addressed in order to fix this game. Instead of focusing on more content they really should just focus on the health of the game first. Before pushing out more bugged out content. Sorry but it's the truth. Not here to start crap with anyone but when you're more worried about new content and cosmetics and not considering everything else what are we supposed to think?

No they definitely have a lot of bugs to fix but they are at home and not an office so currently I'm letting it slide. The communication is poor but I know the devs aren't bad people who don't care about their community. They are only human after all.

  • If space coconut actually played survivor and was less biased he would make much better content. He makes valid points at time but then he makes bold claims about survivor despite only playing killer and playing survivor at an extremely low level.

  • Yeah but in this game not running DS is gonna get you tunneled.

  • @solidhex said:

Said that 100 times before, but you're not supposed to hard counter a killers ability. Imagine 4 survivors could do that, that would mean 0 kills 0 hooks every game for this killer. Survivors always have this "i should only get killed when i clearly ######### up"-attitude but what about the killer just playing very good? Survivors are 4 and their strength is their teamwork, it's ok to have situations where the killer will get the down 99% (like PH on vaults or pallets). You are not supposed to run the killer for 5 gens even if you're better, that's why bloodlust exists, you're supposed to waste his time. You even said that Spirit was very good? Wouldn't say he mindgamed her well, its nearly always better to walk away from the loop than just being 2m away from the point where your scratchmarks end (because of double backing).

Also he is clearly biased, look how he recorded all that slugging and mori stuff in the end, even if it doesn't add anything to the main topic, just to show what an ######### this Spirit is. He clearly has an agenda.

No I didn't add that to show anything or an agenda. Just how I edited it also a joke tbh because I showed the addons at the end. But hey assume, assume, and assume.

  • 4 man optimal swf has no counterplay. Some people are chilling with friends but hey you are biased and dont understand solo queue is ######### and not fun.

I mean we can't say 1 way or the other, hell, who's to say the spirit was having fun?

Yeah you right maybe the spirit was bored we didnt want to play her ######### show.

While I agree, Hook suicide shouldn't just be DC without the punishment, they seemed to be in a 3 man SWF given the 3 common names in the clips, and assuming they agreed, It's only 2 people they ######### over not 4 in this specific example.

Bingo although who's to say the 4th on the team wasn't having fun either?

You do know when you run you leave tracks right? Cause she can see those while phasing. You didn't even attempt to stealth or mind game her. You just kept running hoping her duration would run out before she found you. This video only proves you don't know how to counter a spirit. If you don't like facing spirits then maybe you and the rest of the survivor community should stop begging for nerfs.

She had fathers glasses which was obvious from my first hit I knew she wasn't gonna see my scratches. She also had stridor and me no iron will. I don't see you going against a spirit who knows their audio a good one has no counter thats the problem. All you can do is look and judge put yourself in the situation I was in. Also I was planning on killing myself on hook If its gonna be a boring game I mean re queue and go to the next.

honestly some people are not 12 and meanwhile have hearing impaired and can barely hear anything in dbd due to chase music.

dude, you are so eager to dc, ######### on hook. probably the little anime girl would put up a bigger fight against spirit.

pls, watch competitive play, ask the players how to handle spirit, improve your play. i tell you it is great to mindgame a spirit when you get the hang of it and actually anticipate their moves...

That is a huge assumption to make regardless of chase music good spirits who good headsets with stridor pinpoint your location.

I mean akame is a stone cold killer she would beat spirit, but I digress it was my 2nd and 3rd spirit game I was bored out of my mind. She had stridor and the best addons not to mention a mori. I would love to see you handle that spirit in my situation.

Please refrain from calling it a mindgame its a guess. There is no reading if they have speed and duration. Lets say you guess right with speed and duration even more time to correct their mistake. I also had no iron will which is the "counter" to her even though having to run x perk isn't valid counterplay nor is it healthy for the game.

I watch dowsey play as stridor spirit against team Instant Dodge not much they could do. I seen otz survive a decent spirit and he himself said it comes down to guesses. How about to tell me the coutner to spirit that isnt guess this or guess that. You can't anticipate a move when she gives zero info except when you are out side the terror radius.

    That's...an opinion...

I genuarily think DS should be for anti-tunnel purposes. Using it agressively is an abuse. Just my 2 cts.

Alright I'll agree to disagree we are all entitled to our opinions no matter how wrong they may be. The perk was never supposed to be anti-tunnel and the devs said the name was given by the community.

Spirit is the worst thing to happen in this game so far when it comes to power idea.

People still defending her as counterable but they cannot prove their point beyond "guessing".

NO NO NO its a MiNd GaMe. You how to condition yourself to win the gues- I mean mindgames. Go one way double back, do a spin, moonwalk the other. It's all about getting in her head and winning. :)

you're running object.....I do the exact same thing to cocky survivors who think they can run me around xD

Aren't you the same guy who only plays PH because you can tunnel survivors. Call me cocky but I was trying to chill and play dbd object gives me chases which is fun.
