5500 xt and a Ryzen 5 3600, 16 gigs. I know, it sounds like overkill, but I'm seriously not kidding when I say I have massive stutter for the first hour or so of playing DbD, til all the assets are loaded and ready to go. Only game I have problems with, and they're the same whether the graphics are on low or ultra.
Still, not as bad as my year one Xbox one (tried it for a few days about a year ago and my ######### old pre-upgrade PC that had less processing power than the console ran DbD smoother than that. How is console so broken?)
I have a whole lesser gpu and my game works fine no matter what. I never have to restart, zero frame drop, no stutters. It's just always smooth. I guess dbd is just poorly optimized for Ryzen gpus?

That must be one hell of a PC, I still have ridiculous stutter til everything in the game has finally loaded

honestly I played one match of dbd with controller just for a laugh and all I feel now when I see a console killer is bad for them
Its honestly only bad for a select few killers like blight. When the frames are nice I was a cracked console player.

FPS really doesn't matter much, if you get above 30 the game runs fine. Though great skillchecks become pretty hard to time

Console dbd is really bad. I bought the game for my nephew's xbox one. He asked me to lvl up Nurse for Nurse's Calling and blinking was hard. This was even before her rework. No one actually knows how different the game until you've played both versions.

I didnt understand just how bad it was until I finally got into pc. Even the movement is even is better. I know this ones going to rub a lot of people the wrong way. But before you start furiously typing away in the comments, consider how much you rely on exhaustion perks to cover for your mistakes.
I even find myself getting dependent on these. But the matches I do play without them feel more rewarding because I rely on actual skill rather than 'press e to erase all mistakes'
I have to actually strategize the loops I'll link together when in a dangerous position rather than knowing I have a safety net with dead hard.
Killers feel more dangerous and chases more intense when I can no longer erase mistakes that would of had me downed for poor decisions.
I honestly wouldn't mind if the devs disabled exhaustion perks for a weekend to test survival rates without them. This is coming from someone who plays more survivor than killer right now.
Just please, for the love of god keep the comments civil.
A to outplay that cheese perk I agree. Only bad survivors tend to cheese off of it. Although you haven't seen a good survivor shift tech you with vault build. You can pretty much reaction vault every window.

I would prefer that both problems get fixed at the same time, but alright. Ah, I see.
They're extremely quick to fix issues on both sides, and extremely slow on others. Remember when DS was bugged so that some killers had a shortened stun duration? Fixed incredibly quick. But the hook bug stayed for a bit. Matchmaking is ######### terrible for both sides, but it tends to be worse for Killer (from what I've seen.) Nurse is still bugged. Plague is still bugged and feels terrible on the dedicated Servers. Both sides get the same treatment.
Ghostface and Huntress are in the same boat where they're either much harder to counter or dedicated servers break their powers completely. They can't do much against VPN's as far as I know, other than region lock the game perhaps or just kick you out if your ping is really bad. Like VPN bad. The problem is going back to P2P wouldn't exactly fix this, then people can just lag-switch and still get BS hits.
There isnt really even a problem for killers.
The ds bug was in for a week and allowed survivors to be tunneled out of the game. The hook bug allowed you to pressure two survivors. Like I said high priority vs low priority. One promoted a playstyle which made it possible to prevent a side form even having a match.
The hook bug was more of tech and a cool one at that but that's opinionated so ignore this. nurse is still the best killer and uncounterable when played well. Plague which I will give to you since I hear alot of complaints. That being said when it works shes a solid killer.
Huntress while she can have ghost hatchets it hardly happens and she gets the most bs hits from dedicated servers. Ghostface is annoying when you look directly at him and dont break him out but it's ok since hes loopable unlike ms throw a refrigerator. Ban vpns simple/the region lock thing you said.
Switching to p2p would show the killers ping. Lag switching very rarely happened back then. So not only will the killer have constant 0 ping we can see good and bad ping to dodge.

Incorrect, you can literally see over walls during loop chases, which allows the survivor to know if the killer changed directions, when normally they wouldnt have that information.
This isnt rocket science, and I find it baffling and a little humorous that anyone would try to defend modifying game files "not for an advantage" when both the community and devs have agreed that its cheating. The FoV is locked ingame for a reason. The mental gymnastics involved in telling yourself that its not cheating to modify game files to increase the FoV, is a bit cringe tbh.
Can you provide me evidence that shows more of the killers body then? All the pictures provided only show more distance never more of the killers body. Dont make bold claims without evidence.
You don't actually have to modify the games files. Just make a custom res on nvidia settings, select res boom dbd in custom res. The only ones that think it is cheating are the ones who cant mindgame and just dont know enough about stretched. Once again no one has to modify any game files, nor is it mental gymnastics lol. Calling things cringe is cringe in itself. and just a bit weird.

You can't just ignore a tiny percent of the problem because it doesn't happen enough. I never said the survivor's side isn't important, don't put words in my mouth. You don't get to do that.
I will fully agree with you, Hit Validation sucks, and yes - most of the time it is massively in the killer's favor. Still doesn't mean you can just ignore the Killer's that do get issues because it doesn't happen often. That's not how it works.
VPNing sucks and shouldn't exist, I'll agree with you there. Also, what did you want them to do - Just not let people play with Oni until they figured it out?
I mean I will because they will handle it after survivors get fixed. The problem is much more prevalent thus survivors bad hits should be prioritized on the fix list. Think of it like moris and keys. Moris were more op this they were fixed first, also it was a simple fix. I was referring to the devs not thinking the survivor bad hits arent as important not you.
Once again yes I will fully ignore the 1% of bad hits for killer as long as the devs subject us to year 2 of bad hits.
I mean I'm not saying they should ban people from playing oni, but they did subject survivors to play verse all these VPN bad wifi killers and were extremely quick to fix the killers problems.

This really isnt up for debate. Stretched res allows survivors to see over walls that they would not be able to see over without modifying files. The devs have stated that this is cheating, but that they cannot do anything about it right now.
Anyone arguing that stretched res isnt cheating, are either using it themselves, or dont know what they are talking about.
All you are seeing is more of the distance which is made useless if you scouted the map before hand and know where you are going. If you cant see more of the killers why does it matter.

I don't think it prioritizes connection lol
Im sorry but if you cant hit a stand still target that might be a you problem. I will give you the benefit of the doubt however because it can affect killers just it rarely does.

This is correct, Hit Validation 100% does not work in a way that the Player with the better Ping has an advantage. Yesterday I went against quite a bunch of Russian Killers and they got some Hits which looked simply wrong on my side. And I highly doubt that they were able to beat my 35-50 Ping, which I usually get (in fact, it should be impossible for them to get a better Ping).
(Living in western Germany, so I should be connected either to Frankfurt or London, which is both way closer to any of those two Servers than any Russian City)
Hit Validation clearly favors the Killer, so if someone has a bad Connection, they can just go for it and will have an advantage.
On west coast we have a lot of vpn killers I actually finally faced a good ping demo and made vaults. That's why I think the devs dont want to fix it. They don't want killers to start whining about working hit validation. The killer actually has to work for a hit rather than be given it.
If you even have 150 ping you can go for a bunch of bad hits. I've even started calling myself the number 1 eu killer because of how cheesy the validation is.
-
@NomiNomad said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1853928#Comment_1853928
Not an exaggeration at all. I've had it happen to me when my ping is perfectly fine. It tends to happen to survivors more, but you can't just discount server problems can affect killers. Just because it happens less doesn't mean it's not just as important.
This is a problem that affects both sides, you can't just ignore one side.
It may happen maybe 1% of the time which is why I ignore the problem for killer because it seriously turns people away from survivor. Clearly the survivors bad htis arent important as instead of fixing the validation uts instantly turned off when a killer like oni doesnt work. Survivor is already boring enough the fact that you can vpn and just abuse this is absurd.
It barely affects killers as seen. I'm able to hit someone fully through the window with resilience. You really trying to tell me that killers suffer from this?
-
@Pulsar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/217265/disproving-hit-validation
I think it's more that the server isn't working correctly.
I've had some hits that clearly connected taken away, and I've had others that shouldn't have hit land.
So the server isnt working correctly for like 2 years now. Survivors suffer the worse from this. You might get a couple aim assist cucks, maybe the one bug where you could actually have the hit taken away but that was due to hit validation and is fixed by taking it off instantly. Then they put it back on and killers still get this leniency where they can continue to cheese off of bad connection.
-
@Trashmaster said:
The servers simply suck ass, damn if we could just go back to the days of p2p. You can literally swing through people nowadays if there's 2 survivors in front you...and miss both of them
Ok that's an exaggeration. I've never swung through people. As the clips show you can litterally swing at windows and get hits if the survivor is completely through. He even had resilience on.

If the pictures that were shown here aren´t proof enough for you, what else could I tell you? Maybe I am just a trash Killer who doesn´t know how to shrink my character model mid chase so the Survivor can´t see my every move, idk, please teach me if you can.
And yes, all but the safest tiles with solid LOS blockers are "car loops" with stretch res, there´s so much evidence here for that, and if a Survivor gets outplayed by a Killer they can literally clearly see over the wall I wouldn´t know what to tell them, either.
The one bjorks showed me litterally had no comparison and he just said he wants to play minecraft so I couldnt prove him wrong on native. That isnt good evidence. The true video the tiles it tries to prove its cheating can see the killer on native. The only difference is the extra fog.
Tell me when you are free and we can trust this is in customs. All stretch does is give more distance that you can see which doesnt help at all in a chase.

Alright, it "technically" isn´t cheating, but it´s as close as it gets with using unfair advantages that are not bannable.
I really hope you´re right and there are a bunch of native res players, because that means they have a rudimentary understanding of fairness, something that stretch res players obviously lack.
The only advantage is more few of distances which like I said before doesnt matter when you scout the map before hand.
Also if you dont win a mindgame you are gonna use "oh its stretched res" and an excuse right? If it was an advantage any tretched player would never go down. Because by your logic it makes loops, car loops.
You have yet to provide me those unmindgameable loops.

I don´t need to know how to replicate it to see its effect.
Keep defending this kind of exploit, I see there´s no point arguing you on this one. Just know that it´s frowned upon for good reason, and you trying to make up excuses and downplaying it doesn´t exactly paint you in a good way tbh.
And you don´t know what "people actually play", I bet there´s tons of scummy people out there that play on 1080x1080 to make their matches as unfair and miserable for their opposition as possible.
I guess, but you will never know just.hoe much of a "cheat" it is then lol.
Why are you ignoring everything I said. I'm defending the "exploit" for a reason. It isnt cheating. Its frowned upon becuase alot of killers cant take an L. One streamer complained stretched res made shack impossible to mindgame. That's your opinion if it doesnt paint me well. To be fair it's way more killer stretched players than survivor so what do you have to say to that?
1080 x 1080 isnt cheating. Same way you can say you bet there is a bunch of 1080 players I can say there are a bunch of native players.
-
@Slashstreetboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1852660#Comment_1852660
I don´t use stretch res, I don´t even know how to do it, and neither do I cheat in any other way, shape or form.
The most recent showcase, Truetalents vid in this post, should be enough to convince anyone about the tremendous advantage it provides. If you can´t see that, I really don´t know what to tell you.
Also, you denying that it isn´t beneficial to see the exact moves of the Killer at all times regardless of visual obstacles that usually would obscure them is baffling.
But whatever, if some people need this kind of unfair crutch to play, it´s up to BHVR to fix it, feel free to ride the ez mode wave till then.
Edit: Since you brought up Ussylis, here´s a quote from him:
"Unfair? Sure, that's your opinion. Might I add that I don't even use 1080x1080, which undeniably can make loops literally unmindgamable, while my stretched res 1600x1080 is only slightly stretched. I use it cause I've been used to it from the years of gaming before DBD."
Reading this inclines me to at least acknowledge that it depends on the degree to which resolution gets stretched whether it can be considered cheating or not.
If you havent used or even know he to stretch why make such an argument when you arent fully informed.
True talents video showed stretched beyond the ones people actually play. 1280 x 720 is what I think it showcases. To be fair all you can see is more distance. Even in the trapper one where you can see beyond the rock, you can run spine chill or just go to the sides and use your horizontal fov to 3rd person peak.
Yes I am denying you can see more of the killers if anything its cheating for killer since you can mess with the flashlight blind angles and see normally when fatigued. Bet you didnt know that because all you were focused on is that it makes loops unmindgameable.
So since you quite that what loops are unmindgameable with stretched? Ussylis says so but what loops are the unmindgameable ones? Jungle gyms? Surely not becuase if you hug the loop you arent seeing more of the killer.
This I can somewhat get around to but I wouldnt play on anything stretched more than 1440 x 1080.

Just hug the wall of the loop and you can still mindgame them
this picture is stretched res btw
and no not all killers can just hug the edge of the loop because their height gives them away with stretched res regardless
main killers this affects that usually have to chase in loops
wraith, myers, trapper, hillbilly, huntress, doctor, bubba, clown, plauge, demogorgon, oni, deathslinger, pyramid head, and maybe even the twins
making plenty more loops into open car loops regardless of what the killer does due to abusing stretched res to this extreme is a bit much
Bjorks I'm willing to play a custom and show you that you can see the killer there with normal res. Was there no comparison included with that photo? On normal res you wouldnt be looking down as much to see myers because of the less fov.

Depends. Can everyone else? Or are there mindgames vs people he only wins because of that resolution?

I see you avoided answering my question. Very fitting.
Can people mindgame him yes they can. How is stretched res gonna help at shack when you cant see more horizontal fov which which would actually give an advantage. Even autohaven June gyms are mindgamable. The spots you can see the killer over are on native as well.
I never denied swf gives a team an advantage. Thag advantage is merely just coordination because they can speak. Nothing else. Even coordinated, a swf can be bad like most survivors.

But you CAN see more of the Killer. It´s like having wallhacks at most tiles. You also have far more environmental awareness than someone who doesnt abuse the exploit.
And if you can mindgame your friend even when he´s using stretch res, maybe he´s not as good as you think, it would be like successfully pulling off a moonwalk mindgame at a car loop.

Have any of you guys used stretched res? Ussylis who recently went back to native after all the hate seems to be able to loop the same way. To compare stretched res to a car loop filler is absurd. Show me proof of you being able to see more of the killer if they hug the loop on 1080 x 1080, 1440 x 1089, and 1600 x 1080.
Environmental awareness is something you can gain by scouting the map before hand like a good survivor. Do the extra distance becomes nothing special. Slasherstreetboy if you think hes bad we can ways set up a 1v1 and you can handle your business.

thats a bad analogy tho so im just going to snip out the important parts
(example of analogy using same structure a baby huntress can lose with iri head so how is it op, doesn't take skill into account and removes too many other factors)
I can still mindgame someone using stretched res so how is it cheating
While it doesn't play the game for you it still offers an advantage that is more powerful the higher the skill level of the survivor and can be easily abused near the middle to end of the survivor skill spectrum, and since it is usually intentionally done on pc by changing resolution it can be considered exploiting the game if done on purpose to gain an unfair advantage
The only reason it's not cheating is because you can see more distance not more of the killer. If the killer hugs the loop like the survivor you wont see them. That's why I was able to mindgame him. Hes a good survivor. The only thing that's cheating is actually fov cheats which let's you third person peak without going to safety corners and seeing over actual loops.

Its important to be able to laugh and accept you can make mistakes and lose survivors to saves because if you can then you'll be able to better spot where you mess up.
These groups arent personally out to male fun of you. They like your own goals are out to do some impressive plays view them as competitiors not bullies.

Oh and then enjoy the end game chat, this is the best part.
I'm not into the whole let them bleed put but it's fair game play as dirty as you want in terms of camping or tunneling. Like you said these teams will all come to save their friend as they are overly altruistic.
They should have a enough salt to fill the ocean by then.

I hate toxicity. If players are throwing the game to be toxic, their deaths don't give them a pass. They were toxic.
If players throw games by being overly altruistic and constantly going for (and getting) saves, but aren't being wankers about the whole thing, then it's more am annoyance. Which means I don't like going against them, but I don't hold it against them either.
I wouldn't call it toxicity, I would say cocky. Tbagging and pressing m2 a couple times isnt affecting me. All you have to do is outplay them and make they respect you and the clicking should stop. It happens all the time a few survivors think they will bully me then I put an end to that quick.

As a team? I haven't seen many, other than the toxic swf. But I've seen plenty of solos that will try and be the next Noob3 or Ochido, at the cost of the rest of the survivors. Had a Bill last night against my Hag that spent all his time teabagging me at loops. Wasn't even that good at chases.
Frankly, it disappoints me. Not because I want a decent game, but because I know how it feels to have horrible team mates. To have a team mate throwing the match, just to get some kind of weird gratification at butt dancing? If I see the remaining survivors trying to actually have a match, I'll let them out at the end, so long as I get to tenderize the one.
I've had the same happen in solo queue, a bad player attempts to try and abuse the killer then gets clapped and dcs. It hurts the team and I can respect you for letting the others out. It's mostly bad mm they need to make a way to put good players with good players and vice versa.

I love going against this kind of team, usually it's an easy game where everyone is slugged for getting too cocky. They try to do the shenanigans that some streamers with 3000h do to baby killers, but that doesn't work if the killer is experienced
Exactly this minus the slugged if you mean slugged til bleed out. That being said an experienced killer should always come out on top against these teams.

I think those games where they just try to bully tf out of me can be really funny too. It's not so important to win each game.
I can respect this mind set, me personally I am competitive so I do go for wins every game.

as long as they don't offer haddonfield, badham, similar survivor maps, use object of obsession, or abuse decisive strike, unbreakable, soul guard, keys, stuff like that, it's better off than playing against noobs or 5k hour squads
So excluding keys and haddon field cause those need nerfs you want survivors to use no good perks or you are gonna be big mad. Well if you rather face bot survivors and not improve be my guess but personally I find that weird.

It's annoying; but they don't always throw a match doing this. Often groups do this because they realise it's an inexperienced killer; people literally make smurf accounts for this purpose even.
They do all of the above- but also make sure to all escape.
It's why most the killers in the game are either still at the phase of being subjected to that now and then, or have become grated and it's why they don't give you that hatch, or not tunnel you when you make a mistake.
Any team that goes out fo their way to harass a good killer is losing the game. They are not escaping a competent killer. Smurfing is a whole nother story. I'm not defending it but at the current point matchmaking is already messed up for both sides and killers are bulling baby survivors too.
If you are subjected to a match where survivors are willingly giving them to you and not hiding why tf are you grated? You are getting chase interaction and not a hide and seek game. So tell me which do you prefer ?

I don't mind them and they don't get to my head. I do love it when they try to dumb tech or cj tech me because it's basically a free down with enduring.
This is mostly my thoughts. If you play good as killer nothing should go wrong. All the techs will be countered and used against them. In my experience when the teams I face find out I'm good they try and sit on gens.

Why is it boring if the chases are good? Is it irritating because the survivors are constantly interacting with you? In my opinion that's the fun part. Could you elaborate because that confuses me.

I hate any of this type of obnoxious behaviour
So you prefer bad teams who arent competent than good teams who are?

I'm not a killer main but play both sides fairly equal. Matches like that I still try to kill them all to try and show that their harassment doesn't affect me even though I really want to scream, cry, and throw the controller at the tv.
They'd have to be really over the top with their harassment for me to want to cry though.
I had a match where I was playing Freddy (one of my first matches as him) and there was a 4 person swf (very obvious swf cuz of names) where they all had flashlights. I loaded into the match and found that only one had a flashlight so I was like "Oh no". The problem is this one person was very immerse so I never knew where they were and the only time they'd appear was to blind me through the corn and I was never able to pick anyone up because I'd just get a flashlight to the face. All 4 remembered to tbag at every moment and all 4 tbagged me in the exit gate. I even looked at their builds. All had the small pp build with purple flashlights with the pink bulb and sapphire lens. (which all were given to that one person). All of them got out, but none deserved it.
So you are ok with it and the teams have to be good for you to feel bad. Now let me ask you this. Would you prefer those good teams that harass you or bad teams that rarely challenge you.
