This is probably the main reason she is getting changed.

  • I'd say self care is a good perk only if you know when to use it. I don't use it myself but there are definitely moments where I wish I had it.

  • I think it's a pretty balanced map. Not many safe pallets, no insane loops, mostly great totem spawns. This is how maps should be in the future.

  • I choose this for springwood, not haddonfield

  • @aregularplayer said:

The problem is that this game is IMPOSSIBLE to balance. Playing SWF is GGEZ gen rush, but playing solo is at least 3 potatoes running doing nothing and at most 1 stupid doing gens (usually you).

I actually did 4 gens by myself today in solo survivor. The tome 4 challenge can actually be completed lmao.

  • When are you guys going to stop with these pointless posts?

Over a few weeks I wrote about a bug in the bug forum that exist since the Stranger Things Update came in.I know that the dev's cannot recognize every bug but such a importand one has should be fixed long ago.PS4 version is a mess in my eye's I mean they fixed that matchmaking ...until it bugged again... but come on! This bug where you cannot see if you friend has ready up or you miss someone of you friend's after finding a lobby is ridiciolous! Now matchamking is bugged again,Killer are lagging if you play Survivor even with a 90 Ping and how I heared it is otherwise if you played Killer. I don't have the feeling anymore that they care for ps4 version...

Matchmaking is also busted on pc as well, it's not just consoles

  • This was suggested before but it's easily abusable

Yet these same survivors and streamers encourage DCing against something that they don't like. If you recall, there was a DBD stream, where streamers DCed against a killer that they didn't like. This was a recent stream, but it shows that they support DCing.

Can you tell me which streamers encourage dcing? I personally don't watch any of them but I really, really doubt ohtofu or zubat encourage dc'ing. I also really doubt it's about encouraging dcing anyways. It's sounds more like "I don't like what they are saying about spirit" to me.

Why I'm crying? I'm just expressing my own opinion about how I feel. I hate dcs, SWF, infinites and big maps. They also are unfun, boring and they don't have counterplay at all, but I've been trying to adapt since then. Could I say the same about you CRYING (the same bs) about Spirit 50/50 of your time?

Also, you don't need to @ If I'm bothering you. I could care less with your approval, honestly

You could express your opinions without constantly attacking survivors or certain streamers because you don't like what they said. The condescending attitude also doesn't help at all.

  • @PoisonN said:

I don't feel nothing. Every killer will be considered "overperforming" at some point. People are already talking about how Ghostface and Plague are unfun/boring to play against with 0% counterplay (the magic words). Then here we go with survivor mains. Then dumbass streamers desperate for views talking the same thing. Then the killer is destroyed. So yes, enjoy your favorite killer while you can.

You honestly cry 10 times more than survivors actually do

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

The irony that you think that those first two are actually unfun to go up against in comparison. ?

Also, is it me or are we seeing more posts complaining about the actual complaints?

Yep. Killers on these forums actually whine and cry 10 times more than survivors do. There was probably like 10 nerf spirit posts and we have like a 100 don't nerf spirit or stop crying survivors posts lmao.

  • 20191109_224128.jpg

They said that she was overperforming in the latest dev livestream but I'm too lazy to find the exact time.

  • Leaked patch notes for the new chapter

Pig can now only place one trap per survivor and survivors will always take it off on the first try.

  • I'm a rank 1 survivor and I got many rank 13 killers. Yours isn't that bad since it's like a 5 rank difference and you will eventually beat them after more practice. Which killer are you playing?

  • That's more enjoyable than going against spirit so please do

  • Here's an advice: If you want to make a poll, make it as objective as possible. Especially in the poll options.

    @DeKillerKiller said:

All I want is for survivors to have the exact same information she has.

Footsteps, breathing, grass moving, phase noise being directional (except maybe inside her Terror Radius). All of this.

Would make her easier to counter and learn.

I wouldn't say the exact same information. It could make her too weak.

But Freddy has the highest Kill Rate right now. Does this mean she is expected to get less kills and they have a bar set for each Killer that is different and when one beats it they are now "overperforming"? Would this explain why weaker killers are ignored for the most part, because they are working as intended with a lower Killer rate than the average?

    Hmmm. ?

I have no idea. Maybe freddy has the highest kill rate on all ranks overall? They said they were going to release some stats again and I guess we'll see then. I hope they have some stats for kill rates on red ranks and not just all ranks overall.

I know Legion was broken, and unfun to play against. They had 0 counterplay. However, this does not mean that it was right to promote and support changes that would remove their identity and to DC against them as a sort of protest until changes were made.

And my point, again, is that no one complained about the Spirit, or considered her unfun, until quite recently, based on, it seems, nothing more than the fact that they need a Killer to widely label as unfun.

She has not changed at all since the Legion changes and she does not use any of the perks released since then. She was considered, for the most part, high tier and, usually, quite balanced. Hell, a few months before that people were still arguing she was weak.

Except Prayer Beads. F Prayer Beads.

Well, I always found her annoying to go against since her launch but it wasn't much of a problem for me because people didn't play her that much and those who did weren't really that good. I guess it was the same for other people as well.

I genuinely dislike going against her and this is coming from someone who loves going against nurse (and I really don't like the basekit changes) so it's not because she isn't loopable or anything. Constantly going against spirit makes me want to stop playing the game. I don't have this problem with any other killer.

Also, the devs said that she was overperforming and if that's true, she probably has a very high kill ratio and that has nothing do with her being unfun to go against.

Better make a forum post about this

  • @thesuicidefox said:

My favorite part about the "perks are not counter play" argument is that they ignore the absolute devastation Iron Will and Spine Chill can have on the Spirit. Like sure, without perks it is significantly harder to counter her, but WITH these perks it is actually super easy to counter her. To the point it's almost a joke. These perks crush her so hard, I don't see how you can just ignore this. Not to mention, both Iron Will and Spine Chill are strong perks against ANY killer. So anyone making the claim "I shouldn't have to use 1 of 60 perks to counter a killer" again ignore the fact these perks are great against any killer. The only killers where Iron Will won't help are Plague (because you cry in pain when sick regardless) and Doc (because you will scream revealing your position anyway). If these perks weren't strong against nearly the entire killer roster they might have a point, but since they are and since they dominate killers like the Spirit so much I find it intellectually dishonest to just dismiss them as counter play options.

Know what I do when I run across a lot of Docs or killers using Infectious Fright? Yep I put on Calm Spirit. I have no issue with this at all because of how hard this perk counters Doc too. If it can sway the game that hard, it is indeed a valid counter play option.

Bamboozle is good on every map , so you should use it every match just in case you get a map with a broken loop. Maps don't need fixing since bamboozle exists.

    This is your mentality.

So, you're saying there's a issue with the schoolgirl outfit then?

Also, thanks for admitting you want to "reliably" counterplay a Killer over and over. You're exactly the type of person I was complaining about earlier: A biased Survivor who doesn't want to think or try to get into the Killer's head. You want safe, consistent methods of beating Killers that CAN trip you up.

Willing to bet you won't think "no counterplay" when it comes to genrush too and elite Survivor teams.

Morons like you don't understand how big of a deal "blue scratch marks" would be. Because you can't see the bigger picture.

"Ohhhh, Spirit is phasing! And she's phasing THAT way! Well, I just have to do this simple thing and then she can't do anything to me! Dur hur, I'm so good! gg ez baby Killer!"

Where is the "counterplay" to getting your movements constantly read at loops, hmmm? What will the counterplay be to Survivors being able to constantly tell where you are? How will you be able to mindgame them? What is the safe and consistent counterplay to genrush too?

The answer: There is none. Which is your goal: EZ wins for you, a Survivor main.

Truly amazing comment btw lmao. Especially that last sentence.

  • @GodDamn_Angela said:

The Legion was heavily complained about immediately after their release for being "unfun". It got so bad that Fog Whispers were promoting, and supporting, DCing against Legion. This created a huge issue with a vast amount of Players immediately ditching a match once they saw Legion was the Killer. Since then Legion has had, for a lack of a better term, controversial changes made to their entire kit and now is basically ignored by everyone. I, myself, found Legion extremely unfun to play against but I never once DC'd against them because that's lame.

Now we are seeing a similar thing happening to the Spirit. The DCs haven't started, but we are seeing more and more threads and videos coming out complaining about her and how "unfun" she is to play against. The funny thing is though is that she has only received a hand full of bug fixes, and none of the perks she usually runs have been changed in any major way that would help her with mind games, since even before the Legion changes came out.

Now, the main reason I bring this up is because if you go back and check out a majority (if not all) Killer discussion threads, videos and topics many, many players would mention how the Spirit (sans Prayer Beads) is one of the most balanced Killers, or a little strong, or even weak, but no one ever mentioned her being unfun to play against. This just makes me come to the conclusion that either a loud minority, or a majority (I haven't figured out which yet), of the community NEEDS a Killer to complain about and focus ire on, that they need one of them to be "unfair" and "unfun" for the sheer fact that they need something to complain about.

Why is this? I dunno. The internet is a weird place. But anyway on to the question of the thread:

tl;dr: Which Killer do you think Players will deem "unfun" next? Why? This isn't about if you specifically think said Killer(s) is ok, its about who you think people will deem unfun for whatever reason.

I am thinking it will be Freddy, due to his strange power level that many people have issues dealing with and find him difficult to play against and because its Freddy. Also he can teleport.

Or maybe the Huntress(I dunno) because she has Hatches, which are long range(!), and she can use an Add-on to one shot down you from range(!). Or something.

Legion ignored all gameplay mechanics and literally had no counterplay. That's why they were annoying to go against. Your skill didn't matter at all, you couldn't do anything about them mindlessly stabbing you. If you can't see why he was changed, I don't know what to tell you.

Spirit has the same issue, you are mostly doing guessing games as survivor, where your skill doesn't really matter much. There are of course some strats you can do but it mostly comes down to, I hope she makes a mistake or I guessed right.

Nobody wants her to be trash, the devs are the ones making unnecessary changes most of the time.

These sorts of threads are useless and they are only fueling the constant hate between survivors and killers

  • @HeHeBoii said:

    Because she is “over performing”

and unfun to play against? (I understand prayer beads, nerf that)

But constantly going against swf squads on voice coms with op perks (When they all run adrenaline for example) it is fun for killers right :) I mean we are going by the fun factor here right.. Gen rushing and playing by survivors rule book is fun too right. There are many things that BHVR need to address and help before even considering making nerfs. Poor ruin can’t last more than 30 seconds..

Yes, just ruin another killer because survivors aren’t happy or having a difficult time with her. I play against many spirits. Sometimes I win sometimes I don’t..

so if the solution is “nerf a killer due to them over performing”

then nobody will want to be a killer.

I thought killers are supposed to be feared and not killers fearing survivors.

idk just my two cents @Peanits just because stats show she has a high success rate, doesn’t justify nerfing.

i will patiently wait for that one person who is going to say there is no counterplay blah blah...

And Ghostfsce you are next on the nerf train CHOO CHOO.

    Good day y’all.

If the stats show that she has a very high kill ratio, then the nerf is absolutely justified. It's the right thing to do. You are a game designer and you see a character having like a 70% kill ratio or something. Of course it would make sense to change them.

You don't know if swf is ever going to change or not.

This isn't just about spirit either. Any time moris are brought up, people keep saying that keys exist so it's fine and vice versa. Nothing will change with this mentality.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/816735#Comment_816735

You even admitted survivors needed the nerfs in your post, so how are those points arguable? Survivors almost always got a 4 man escape and there were no killers playing because it was guaranteed they would lose unless it was 4 rank 20s. People escape spirits all the time, the spirit herself doesn't have counters, it's like nurse, the survivor has to bait her into a mistake but if spirit plays it correctly she'll get a down. If your not nurse or spirit you have to bait a survivor into a mistake to get a down, how can spirit be unfair if she has a similar situation as survivors vs other killers? You as survivor have to bait spirit into a mistake, the same thing will not work 100% of the time, you have to play every spirit as if it's a different killer. as for the coninflip argument, a guess implies you have no idea what she could do, you know everywhere she could come from based on where you are or where she last saw you, dont do something random as a guess, make a prediction based off game sense. Iron will and spine chill arent counters themselves, you cant have one or the other and just instantly escape spirit, they will help you escape alot, but they are tools if you can bait the spirit into a mistake shes a 110% killer and you can make distance, after all that if its been 80 seconds or more 3 gens should be done. If chases last even just 30 seconds if your team is rushing gens and plays even somewhat smart you can get 2-4 out pretty consistently.

Devs don't really favor survivors. That's the point.

  • @Peanits said:

Is it true that you want to nerf Spirit? I suppose that's up to you to decide.

Given the nature of how SWF works and why it's a problem. Unironically yes.

You can't solve SWF by directly nerfing it no matter how much you might want to. Thus the solution is to buff solo's and Killers up to their level. Thus not changing Killers like Spirit who can already deal with SWF.

Yes, I suggested that before myself but I don't expect much regarding this topic from the devs. They decided not to make kindred base kit for some reason, that would have been a good start. Even if we do see some actual changes, it will probably take years.

Collision is actually good for survivors, imagine your about to make a pallet but she goes through you and appears, you die when before you could have thrown it and it removes body blocking for team mates. I've had so many survivors use it to find me at pallets and slam them. For 1 bs hit collision gives survivors theres 3 survivors that live because of it.

I'd swap those numbers tbh. Collision kills me more than it saves me

  • How about we make them fun to play as and fun to play against? The second part is missing from spirit.

  • That wouldn't make much different since you can still see him. I never rely on hearing his footsteps as survivor

  • @FearlessHunter said:

I like having a killer that actually requires me to switch up my playstyle instead of running the usual loops 24/7. Spirit is a unique killer and that's what I like about her. I understand it may be annoying to see her frequently but let me ask you this. What happens if Spirit does get nerfed and [people move onto Billy/Freddy? What will happen to them? The question I'm asking is what is the main request for nerfing spirit? Is it coming from how many times you see her or just her power? Cause I'm worried people will start to say Billy is broken when people start playing him more cause the devs will probably nerf spirit, then it'll move onto Freddy, then Huntress and the list goes on.

I don't think anything will happen to freddy or billy. Only some small addon changes will probably happen (which aren't really necessary).

People aren't asking for changes to spirit for no reason. Her power doesn't have much counterplay except guessing games and the amount of complaining about it is huge because she is played a lot.

  • I hope all goes well and you'll recover fast!

  • My potato teammates always devour my hopes of escaping . Thankfully, I can endure the pains of playing sole survivor with my inner strenght. This game is really better together with friends

  • @anarchy753 said:

First off; nerfing Spirit won't take away any of her "spooky theme." Don't know why that's even a concern.

Second; while it probably is possible to cut out stats of different brackets I don't know what the point is. She's overperforming overall, you can cut off the low play time players because inexperience isn't an accurate representation of killer strength, and you'll probably raise her kill rate. You can cut off the high skill players, but then you're basically saying a killer is balanced because only people who DON'T know what they're doing don't overperform, if that's even the case. Point is everyone has to play this game against people of varying skill levels, and all of it should be taken into account for balance, not just one extreme or the other.

Third, considering the stats they did a while back, they probably do consider games with a DC in their data. You can argue how you like for whether it should or shouldn't, but if a killer is so anti-fun that players refuse to play with it then something's gonna have to happen. You punish DCs harder and people will just give up on hook or feed.

They said they can filter out dc's but I don't know if that was the case in the those stats

  • Most of those nerfs were well deserved but it didn't really fix much. Killers like trapper and wraith are still weak after countless nerfs to survivor. They should have looked into buffing the weaker killers and nerfing swf.

  • @justarandy said:

I just checked out Apex legends and saw this:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/787/4FQUCEPXBS7E.png

They added ammo icons in the HUD for everyone, so as solo player you know exactly what type of ammo your mates need and you can help them out to find them. And this wasn't even something requested much from the community but everyone is very happy and thankful for that. And this is just one little example, they have many stuff like that for solo players.

Now, BHVR doesn't give a crap about solos in DBD. We requested so many QoL changes but nothing gets done. Why is a free game providing so much better support for these details and why not DbD?

BHVR doesn't care, that's the reason. Simple. Otherwise we would have gotten the HUD improved like chase indication, gen indication, total totem counter etc years ago. But we haven't. We are constantly asking for that stuff but nothing happens, it's still like 2016.

Heck, they didn't even try out the kindred basekit idea in a PTB even tho many many experienced players agreed that this would fix multiple problems at once.

They said they were looking into "closing the gap between solos and swf" but we still have no update on this and it feels like they aren't doing anything about this at all.

Even if they just made kindred basekit it would be a really good change. Why did they even decide not to do this anyway? They should have at least tested it on the ptb.

  • @Rinthespooki said:

Just make her footsteps louder and it wont be a guessing game.

    Is she phasing?

1 - you hear footsteps while she stands still - she is.

    2 - you dont hear footsteps - she isn't.

Thus it rewards a survivor if he/she pays attention for that.

Boom 1 simple thing without having to nerf her kit or addons and its a indirect nerf to beads too.

Honestly, this is such a simple change but it would make things a lot better. She needs small adjustments like this, not just straight up big nerfs or anything.

  • @TheKingOfAll said:

I think anyone who has ever played survivor can understand the frustration of being hooked and no one coming to save you. SWF teams know who is going for the save. I think kindred level 2 (Not killer detection) should be built in to survivors. This will not affect survivor that much but it would be very nice.

Also, buffing solo survivors would allow you to buff the weaker killers

I think the killer detection is on all tiers now. They buffed kindred a while ago.

No it's not luck. Stop saying it's luck. If you see a pattern in behavior and can predict with good accuracy what the other player will do, that is NOT luck. Luck is when something happens to benefit you that you did not plan for. If I'm walking around and Ghostface just go strolling by in Night Shroud, just happens to be facing away from me and didn't see me, THAT is luck. Predicting what another player will do with high accuracy is the opposite of luck.

The sooner you stop thinking about countering Spirit in terms of "guessing" and "luck" the sooner you will learn howto actually counter her.

You can spin it around all you want but it is pure luck on many situations. Choosing left or right is a pure 50/50 chance, there is no pattern.

I drop a pallet and she is standing in front of it. Is she using her power? Probably. Should I go left or right? No clue at all. Might as well flip a coin to decide. I decide to go left and oh no, I bumped into her. Totally outplayed right? Not at all. I just guessed wrong and there was no pattern or anything to help me decide.

You act like it's impossible to predict another player consistently.

Look up 50/50 mixups in regards to fighting games. That is literally what Spirit does, yet you don't see FGC players complaining about 50/50 mixups, because it comes down to prediction. Humans are creatures of habits, we have predictable behavior patterns. And they are hard if not impossible to overcome. No human can ever play a game and make completely random decisions. There will be a pattern. If you realize this pattern you can "guess right" as you put it more often than you "guess wrong".

I've chased survivors that "guess right" almost every time I try any sort of trick on them as Spirit. It's because they were able to predict me consistently by seeing my patterns.

Based on your perspective, it would be impossible for anyone to consistently win at Poker. Yet we have very clear examples of that being false. Therefore, it is entirely possible to consistently predict what a Spirit play will do and act accordingly. There is very little "guessing" involving. If you are guessing you are inherently doing it wrong.

It isn't impossible to predict consistently but it's very luck based for the most part.

Like I said, spirit doesn't do much guessing, they are reacting for the most part. Survivors do almost no reacting and pure guessing ,that's why it is so unenjoyable to go against her for a lot of players. Especially after you are injured, there isn't much you can do at all unless she makes a mistake, since she can hear your grunts.

1 … 18 19 20 21 22 … 35
