You mean to tell me a killer is killing survivors at a good rate?
GET THE NERF HAMMER OUT
like seriously nurse got nerfed not into oblivion but alot harder than she deserved due to her skill cap, and now survivors want the only other killer capable of consistently dealing with an optimal swf nerfed? Seriously?
How about we fix swf instead of making killers balanced for just them? It's just more bandaid fixes for problems.

He is saying if she is supposed to be so broken then anyone can easily 4k with her. As such you should be able to make a video of you doing this consistently against any survivors, particularly good survivors, since if there is indeed no counter play to Spirit then your skill as killer and the survivor skill should be irrelevant.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Claiming she is broken overpowered and has no counter play is the claim, therefore you should be able to prove exactly this.
Her counter play comes down to "you guessed right" in most situations. Meanwhile she can see your scratch marks, see you moving the grass, hear your grunts of pain, breathing, footsteps, can literally collide with you and doesn't really guess much. She constantly reacts to survivors actions but survivors play random guessing games. That's the point. If you count guessing right as a counter play then sure, she has plenty of counterplays.

I didnt say its required, you said "Bringing iron will just in case you get 1 out of 17 killers is even more stupid." As if iron will is like small game vs huntress because you hate trapper, the perk isnt useless otherwise, but Franklin's can be if no items are brought, or spirit fury if you dont get looped at pallets or the survivor throws early.
I know iron will is good against all killer, I use it a lot myself but what if I want to use something else? Do I have to use one of my perk slots for IW every match?
Once again, using bamboozle every match is justified by your logic. Since it's useful all the time, you should use it every match since it can save you if you get some certain maps.

I never said people want them,I said some accept them for one side but not their own, and I'm rank 3 for survivor and cant not count the amount of times iron will has helped me against every killer. I can sneak behind walls or make any killer question if I'm even there, it also let's me stay injured all game with even litter downside. Iron will isnt anti spirit, it's a stealth perk/ objective completion time, you dont have to heal if you dont want to be found with it and can in turn work on gens, this combined with adrenaline, resilience and dh or sb can be disgusting as you dont have to waste time healing because of a single perk.
Point is iron will is go against almost all killers, the only issue is that its really good against spirit.
No one should be forced to use a specific perk, just to have a decent chance against something. You can't justify that in any way. Yes, it is useful against all killers, but that doesn't make it fine, sorry.
By your logic, bamboozle works in every loop, so you should use it every match just in case you get a map with a broken loop. Bamboozle is good at all loops, but it is really good in broken loops.
-
@xRem said:
When a spirit counter is listed it cant be a perk as a counter, so we cant just say use iron will to counter spirit specificall(even though it's good against 16 of the other killers but ok).
When killers ask how do I counter infinites? Were told "just leave them" or "use bamboozled If you hate it that much". That's the same argument as "just mindgame the spirit" and "just use iron will".
But why? Why do killers get all their issues solved by something you have to ######### buy or get lucky with the shrine?
Items? Just use Franklin's demise 4head or just git gud and play around it.
Looping? Use bamboozled or spirit fury noob. Or just mindgame lol.
How do I slow down the gens? Use Ruin, Pop or Corrupt. Or just pressure them lmao.
Before anyone tries to crucify me, this isn't at anyone specifically, I know killers do similar thing but I see it so much more on survivors side, why? I want someone to explain why all killer fixes are perks but one survivor fix that's a perk or multiple is unacceptable?
NO ONE wants band aid solutions for anything. Why are you even assuming this? None of these things are acceptable.
If using iron will every match is acceptable just because there's the same issue on the other side, why are you guys saying spirit is fine? It isn't justified because the same thing is on the other side as well.
It is less of a problem on the killer side because those perks work against all survivors. Bringing iron will just in case you get 1 out of 17 killers is even more stupid.

Before writing any commends below, let me explain.
1 sacrifice because she made a huge mistake by running into basement when all gens are done
1 dc for no reason when all gens are done
1 dc because i grabbed her with blink when she was trying to rescue the one who was sacrificed in the basement. also, she knocked herself off the hook (4% chance) but i still downed her and wait for ds but she dc
i'm not a good nurse, and this is what i get? punished for even playing nurse? I got kills not because i have skill, but survivors made huge mistakes. You can see the score i got, 12419.
Survivors during chase are all running in straight line, vault windows when i wait for my blink, or running in random way in the boat (Yes, the map is the one with huge boat, i think the name is swamp). I can't even do anything when there is so much time for survivors to find and stay out of sight.
i can't wait to see every killers get nerfed that the game will be ruled by survivors
Maybe i'm over dramatic, but i guess i'll leave nurse for a while.. btw anyone find new nurse fun to play as?
Yes, you are overly dramatic. Some survivors will always dc, it doesn't matter which killer you play. They just have a losing=dc mentality.

It is. More specifically, it's a somewhat infrequent issue with stalking on dedicated servers. Sometimes you can stalk them just fine, other times there's a significant delay before you start stalking (and an equal delay after the survivor breaks line of sight). The same happens to Michael Myers sometimes. We've got a fix in today's hotfix and are keeping an eye on it.
Can you guys also look into dead hard please? It is so annoying when you get exhaustion but it does nothing and you get downed anyway.

So camping and tunneling is problematic then? Because a lot of people are seen complaining about it from time to time. I don't actually think it is problematic just saying that what you are saying isn't exactly always true.
Well, I put the "usually" there for a reason :)
It makes sense people complain about camping/tunneling because it is the most annoying and frustrating thing to experience as survivor. I would like some more punishment for killers but overall, it's fine really.

@ThatLaurieMain said:
Main reason I'm posting this is because I'm just amazed about it and wondering whether it's just me who thinks like this, or if I'm missing something or what..?
Okay so lately I've seen loads of posts with "Nerf NOED" "Nerf Spirit" "Nerf BT, DS, OoO, Medkits, Syringes, Freddy, Nurse, gen times, hatch stuff, keys, etc." and I just don't get it. Like you have the group of people who only plays killer, group who only plays survivor and a group that plays both. The first 2 groups almost always complain about the other one. "Meh devs always listen to survivors we can't get kills" while the other group says "Meh devs always listen to killers and make it impossible for us".
And yeah okay, I do agree some of them are a little too op in my opinon, like spirit, but that's probably because I really can't counter her sooo yeah.. I think that's partly me being just bad against her lol. I myself only play survivor, but I really don't get why (as an example) NOED or Nurse are such big problems.
NOED can be pretty annoying, yeah, but that's really not a reason to be like "NOED too op, nerf". I know totems aren't the main objective I guess but that's not a reason to not cleanse totems. If you notice only 3/4 of the killers perks and they seem like oNe oF thOsE pEoPLe then just keep an eye out for totems and just cleanse them right away.
I just don't get why everyone keeps complaining about almost everything. I do agree there's some stuff they could change or do better, but that's maybe a couple things and it's not game breaking or anything. And if this game really is that bad, then just stop playing for a while and perhaps come back once they did change stuff.
Just to be clear, I'm not attacking anyone or saying suggestions are bad but the posts that think they're opinon is a fact and are demanding stuff gets nerfed because it's "pure bs", is just dumb to me. Buuut that could also very well be just me :)
(Hope u enjoyed my book lol)
If the majority of players complain about something, there is usually something problematic about it. People don't want things changed, nerfed or buffed for no reason.

You can get hit by a ds even if you don't tunnel anyone, I think you missed my point.
It's not that hard to predict if you are going to get hit by ds. If you downed them too early , just slug. If you suspect their ds is still active, just wait a bit before picking them up. I rarely get hit by ds when I play killer, it is really easy to avoid ds in most scenarios.

How do you feel about killers being punished for tunnelling?

If you are really too optimal, you should have no trouble catching them again.

Not really. I play her and she was super easy to learn if you know how to play killer in general. Probably the most low skill/high reward killer in the game. Listening isn't a skill cap.

Not trying to be blunt or rude, but you do understand that if shes feels it so do the survivors? I mean, imagine using it to find her and slam her with a pallet, or find her and body block for a friend, it gives both sides the same information "their right next to me".
Bodyblocking for a teammate isn't really useful unless it's the endgame. When you are out in the open with no pallets, you can't avoid bumping into something you can't see and it's a free hit for the spirit. It's a lot more useful for the spirit than it is for survivors. When you do collide with her at the pallet, she can still hit you if she is quick enough before you drop the pallet.
@woundcowboy said:

Collision is good for her, but it mostly occurs out in the open, which other killers will also be able to down. It's difficult to tell and react within enclosures if you are colliding with objects or people, so I don't think it's that insane.Grunts still don't tell you what side of the window/pallet the survivors are on
Umm, what? It is super easy to tell if you are colliding with people or objects.
Grunts can tell you which side the survivors are on if your volume is high enough.
The point is that, it's like 60% reacting to survivors feedback for the spirit and the guessing part is small but survivors literally have no feedback so it is pure, random guessing games for the most part.

Actual discussion: I can’t impose loops on Spirit when she phases, therefore she is broken. I have to guess, like with almost every other game known to man.
On a more serious note, a game’s balance is subjective. Plenty of survivors on this forum would be A okay with legitimate infinites being in the game because they find them “fun”. Why is asking people to learn so taboo?
I asked you before, if it's an actual guess, why does she have collision with survivors? That's not a guess at all, the game tells you when you found someone. If it's a guess, why can she hear injured noises? Listening isn't a guess. Why does she have so much information on what survivors are doing but survivors don't have anything?

If it's not competitive then what's wrong with spirit?
I mean it's just a casual game right? I dont understand how its causal so we should take fun into account but disregard killer fun, spirit isnt "easy 4ks" she has the potential to 4k every game she has the best chance no matter the players skill. Any new playet can pick her up and do well and have fun. You want to talk about interaction? Oh they spawned on my ruin and play immersed but can loop be because I'm am m1 killer, oop 3 gens popped in the first 2 minutes wheres my interaction? Oop were on suffocation pit with the long window and the survivors run to it upon being hit every time, where's my interaction?. But spirit can win in those situations against the best survivors, she let's killers have the breathing room survivors have been handed for a long time. As spirit you can make a couple mistakes and not lose a game entirely as some killers are. Survivors can mess up 3 times a piece, with 5 objectives taking 80 seconds, while killers have 12-10 that take about a minute.
My point is, alot of things have little to no interaction, or are fun for one side or the next, but spirits seems to be the focus of it all and it doesn't seem fair for that balance I hear cried for so much.
When I say that spirit needs changes, I want her to be enjoyable for both sides. I don't like the nurse changes because it makes her unenjoyable to play. I don't want the same happening to spirit.
Yes, the game has many other problems as well, most of them are a lot more problematic than spirit, but does that make spirit fine? Not really. I would rather see changes to other things before spirit, but she does need some changes.

I never said the game isn't supposed to be fun. Just that not every match will always be fun. This is in many ways meant to address those who disconnect from matches because they aren't "having fun." I don't know what your matches have been like lately, but it seems to be a growing problem that really can ruin things for everyone else.
Disconnecting is absolutely not justified because someone isn't having fun.
Everything should be designed with the intention of being fun to play and fun to play against. If other players are ruining your fun, it's understandable but if something is designed unfun then it is a problem.
-
What's the point of playing dbd or any other game if it isn't supposed to be fun?

WGLF is super easy to stack, especially if you are going out of your way to do it. It is only a challenge to stack if you are the worst player on your team (thus being the one hooked instead of the one doing the saves) or if the killer is bad and not getting any hooks.
Tons of times I get 2 stacks per rescue because I get the unhook, and then block the killer for a protection hit after that.
That's not the point. You basically play with 3 perks for extra bloodpoints. BBQ also has a really strong effect along with the extra bloodpoints, WGLF needs the same.

However, if they would suicide on the hook, i would at least get my BBQ Stack and not depip due to DC. Everyone cares for their fun, but trust me, some people just do it to piss you off, knowing they are safe to do so.
They said they were going to make it so when someone dc's, they will leave husks behind so you can still hook them and get bloodpoints & bbq stacks. This will also stop the "dc to give hatch" exploit.

Shouldn’t the game be about the person who is the most in their opponent’s head? Like what is the alternative?
If the chases are supposed to be actual guesses, then why does she have collision with survivors? That's not a guess, the game tells you if you found someone. How can survivors avoid bumping into something they can't see?
The main problem is that the spirit has lots of feedback on what survivors are doing and can react accordingly but survivors have no clue on what she is doing and are making random guesses most of the time and to me, that isn't really enjoyable.
-
@woundcowboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/811633#Comment_811633
You predict them. The standard guessing game against spirit is what side of the pallet you are on. While she is shifting, run to a pallet, put it down, and then wait for a bit. Already, a good chunk of spirits are going to be hit by that pallet because they expect you to wait until you see her (bad idea for the survivor to do). Once that’s established, she will then guess what side you will put it down on. From there you can choose what side or try to sneak away from the loop
That's definitely a strat you can do against spirit but I don't see how that's reading your opponent. It comes down to "I hope she guesses wrong" at the end.
-
@woundcowboy said:

There is skill involved in guessing. You have to read your opponent.

@Endstille said:
The whole argumentation about fun is utter bs, it is made from people who are entitled who want that their opinion of what is fun has to be right and everbody has to accept it.
Having fun in losing is something very odd, take any games that has mechanical skill build into it and it will require people to do reads on the opponent, no giveaways to safely tell is he going to do x? X has to be predicted in order to do anything against it. Many games have this, it is common in the fgc, dota and so on. Diffrence is people literally tell you to get good and stop to whine, here people delude themselves into thinking that to dc is fine cause that thing is no fun. The very same people who want to be taking seriously in balance discussion tell you it is okay to break the rules when you seem fit. In other games you would receive maybe one warning and after that it is bye for x amount of time.
Please do not tell me anything about you cant do that it is such a small community, yeah look up tekken player numbers for example "1/10" of what dbd has and yet people that dc alot will be marked and ignored in further games.
A majority of the people, actually we do not know if it is a majority of the people, there are no numbers on that and it could very well be a vocal minority. If not so provide me foolproof data for it. Furthermore the majority of players in dbd just sucks. Don't tell me it is not like that. Yes it actually is, look at all the posts made in this forum regarding why people die the most it is not because killer op, it is because teammates suck. Why play SWF, cause teammates suck.
I myself am no exception to it, I play 4man swf all the time and why? Because I can not stand the sheer stupidity of some randoms. When you do this enough you will have a very easy time. So what will I do? Will i play with my swf, toolboxes + prove thyself and meta perks where I know people are at least equally skilled as me if not even better and have an easy game or will i go with randoms who might be boosted and give me many frustrating moments? We make people disconnect on a daily basis, not yellow rank killers but red ranked people.
By the very same logic used on spirit, this would dictate that survivors need to be nerfed heavily. Will we see that? Nope.
Why is fun actually a stupid argument when it comes to balance?
We can all agree that fun is something very subjective. The game has several flaws, one side thinks it is not okay to equip perks in order to counter something yet that actually is what the other side has to do and it is fine. Somebody in another thread explained there was a tournament, while nurse still being strong on a map like the game, killers such as billy ( who is considered one of the three and being very well balanced) managed 1 kill each map. These were not bad killers but good killers, with tunneling and all that crap, they were able to get 1kill.
@Peanits told me he likes to reflect on what he could've done better after a match. There are however games where he thinks that he couldn't have done anything better and still loses. When those games do exist, balance should be changed so they do not occur in such a way at all(correct me if i am wrong but that is how i remember part of your answer in ask the community from me).
Sounds to me the skill of the killer in those cases is irrelevant isn't that what was considered a valid complaint about spirit because she negates the survivors skill? Reality is, spirit doesn't do that she just demands diffrent skills. Do not take this the wrong way but I think you are able to train a monkey to memorize routes on maps in order to run them when being engaged. How come as survivor there is literally nothing to micro manage?
Fun being the deciding factor and why not giving into this argumentation is very important? People agree that when enough people do yell enough about something the developers will finally cave in and change that. That is very dangerous and far from creating balance. Well as I said earlier most players in dbd outright suck. That means that when the majority complains it is the people that suck at the game. Are you out of your freaking mind to consider balance changes based on people who are bad at the game?
I suggest people are annoyed by spirit because lots of killers tend to use this killer. Why do killers tend to pick spirit more than other killers?
Simply due to the fact that lots of people outright refuse to build around that killer, if they would, spirit would not be picked so much. Don't delude yourself that there is huge variety in red ranks, there is not. 70-80% of my games are vs spirits. Yet when properly equipped, we deal with it even when they bring moris. Yes yes I know, all have been ######### killers cause somewhere there is some godplayer that will always 4k ( sure i believe that, not [check the tournament reference]).
Another point is that as killer, you have to manage time, you simply can not waste several minutes to down a single survivor. Apply pressure, you can do that when people are idiotic, however when they know where to run from safe loop to loop and play optimal, you will not have a fighting chance with any of the m1 killers against survivors who play optimal. Everything is fine somewhat but really isn't at all.
TL;DR ######### no, go to twitter or something.
Of course you can easily deal with spirit in a 4 man swf if your team is good enough. Just because of the fact that swf teams can do gens insanely fast. I played in 4 man swf teams before and we dominated most spirits quite easily. It is an entirely different story in solo teams however.
Swf makes no sense from a balance standpoint but it shouldn't be removed because it is a fun addition and draws more people to play. What should be done is to make swf more fair against killers, not just remove it. If we ignore fun, let's just remove it for the sake of balance, right?
Devs themselves said that they want killers to be fun to play as and fun to play against. It seems like that was completely ignored when it comes to spirit.
This isn't even close to a competitive game. What's the point of playing the game if it isn't fun? What is the point of playing the game if it comes down to random guessing games and my skill doesn't really matter much? It doesn't really feel like I outplay or get outplayed by spirit. It's just "I guessed right" or "I guessed wrong". That's how I feel at least.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/811462#Comment_811462
Guessing is a part of literally every pvp game. It requires you to get in your opponent’s head and outplay them. It seems like you think that survivors should be able to impose their will at safe loops. If you are unwilling to recognize that guessing is in every game, I don’t know what to tell you.
In other pvp games, every player has an equal chance at the guessing games. In dbd, the game literally gives you no feedback so it is pure random guessing at times.
She can see your scratch marks , see you moving the grass, alerting crows, hearing your footsteps, breathing, injured noises, can literally bump into you. She can use prayer beads to literally get free hooks unless you are using spine chill. She can use wakizashi saya addons and use the sonic speed to catch up to you even if she fails to predict you.
Survivors don't even know if she is using her power in a chase and have basically nothing to help them in a chase except random guessing unless they are using some specific perks.
I don't care about safe loops or whatever. Nurse is one of my favourite killers to go against and she can't be looped. She is actually fun to go against because I have some feedback on what she is doing and it's not random guessing games all the time.
-
Exactly, it needs some other effect like BBQ. Survivor bloodpoint gain is still pretty bad, at least make this perk actually useful in a match.

Yes, it 100% is. If you guess right, she loses a ton of time. If she guesses right, you get hit. It’s 10 times more fair than poor pig or trapper being forced to eat a cow loop with little to no counterplay.

I’ve been a top competitive fighting game player. One thing i’ve learned is that just because someone is top doesn’t mean their opinions hold much weight: some top players have outrageously bad opinions. It’s not a blow up, but being good doesn’t validate your opinions.
How is guessing a good and fair mechanic exactly? It should be about outplaying your opponent. I don't consider myself outplaying her when I guess right and it definitely doesn't feel like I got outplayed when I bump into her while I'm trying to avoid her.
Let's say I threw down a pallet and she is standing still. I can't know if she is even using her power. That's already one guess. I guess that she is using her power, and decide to go to the right. Oh no, I bumped into her, totally outplayed right? Not really, I just guessed wrong. There was literally nothing I could do to figure out that she would go that way, it's just a random guess.
Removing her collision with survivors would make these moments a lot more fair.
-
This game just has bad optimization, not just on consoles. It's incredible how I can run amazing looking games at around 60fps on high settings, but can't run dbd at 60fps on high settings. Fps literally goes from 60 to 40 when you look at a fire or something.

Decisive strike, either you get slugged and your teammates get you anyway or killer gets stunned for 3 sec with no counter, because they nerfed enduring.
Detectives hunch tier 3 shows you where all the totems are in a wide radius and for 10 sec so if you have ruin or any other hex perks say goodbye
Adrenaline, get healed a health state and run fast even if you were exhausted and if you are on the hook when it would pop you're given it when you're unhooked.
I can keep going.
Wow, it is quite amazing to see people whining about detective's hunch.

Going out of your way to ruin someone's fun and trashtalking others is toxic
People love to slap the toxic label on things they don't like.

This is how balancing works. Your decisions in perk selection is what makes the game interesting and fun, because sometimes you're not optimized for some situation and you're challenged. If survivors had a build that gave them counters to every killer then the game would be incredibly boring because everyone would run that build.
Also, I don't see how you change these mechanics of the spirit without ruining her being fun to play.
Except that isn't how balancing works. If you don't have a decent chance against something without using some specific perks, there is something very wrong.

Really? This is the most entitled survivor thing I've read. I'm a player who played both sides, and mori's are nowhere near overpowered. They don't benefit the killer at all, they just make matches shorter. Mori's are in the game to give a cool little kill, and to speed up a match. I consider being mori'd a sign of respect, because they're rare to get, and if a killer uses a green Mori on you that means you're a threat to them. Mori's should not be changed. They're fun, while annoying. Stop your bitching. And, again, compared to survivor perks and items, mori's aren't even close to being overpowered. Perks like deadhard? Lithe? ######### HEAD ON? Head on is a perk purely used to troll killers, almost never done see it used to rescue survivors. It's a perk to be an #########, just like bringing a Mori. How about a survivor binging a key, and everyone else bringing a toolbox. First all the gens get done within a couple minutes, then they all leave with you only ever getting one hook. That's not fair, but that's the point. Sometimes survivors are more prepared, sometimes killers are. Grow up, stop bitching, and enjoy the game.
Yeah, they totally don't benefit the killer at all except giving them free kills.
This comment is a honestly a gem, thanks for the good laugh bud.

so nurse is better cause as SURVIVOR you 100% know how to counter her and spirit you don't?
"you get so much information like whether or not she is blinking, how long she has held the blink, and where she is looking telling you a general area she is going to"
WHAT?
Going against nurse is much more enjoyable because you know what she is doing, where she is going etc. It's not about her strenght.
Constant coin flip chases against spirit is boring and unfun as hell

Wait why are you reworking prayer beads and getting rid of collision if prayer beads are used in gen grabber build
Yeah I forgot about that. If collision is removed, prayer beads will be fine

Honestly I used to think she was fine just needed some addon reworks but after seeing the amounts of complaints I do think something a bit bigger needs to be done. Not sure what should be changed or how it should be done though.
Rework prayer beads, nerf wakazashi saya addons because they are bs
Remove the stupid stand still to mindgame thing, add a vault animation.
Give survivors more information about where she is (maybe moving the grass?)
Remove collision with survivors while phasing. It's so stupid when you bump into her while trying to avoid her. Totally outplayed right?
These would make her a lot more fun and fair to go against, without making her trash. She will still be top tier. There could be small buffs to her cooldown or phase duration if these make her a bit too weak (which I doubt will happen).
-
Yes, this is the main problem but still , get ready for the "spirit is fine git gud" comments.

"staying injured is risky as all hell"
It's actually the complete opposite. Staying injured isn't dangerous enough right now. It's the reason people don't heal at rank 1 and just gen rush.
I'd say it depends on the killer. Not healing against spirit, ghostface, wraith, nurse and maybe myers is super risky.

You honestly wonder why people dont like bhvr changing stuff when there are things like clown, doctor, legion and the list goes on???
Survivors were changed because somebody got humiliated in public.
Openly admitting that "fun" is the deciding factor and not whether something is balanced or not when talking about balance changes is just wrong. Than we do not need to pretend balance exists, we can kick it out of the window and spare everyone the hypocrisy around it.
Cut gen times in half, i dont think it is fun to hold m1 that long, remove one gen so everybody just needs to do 1. Are these changes good for balance? ######### no but who cares we should increase fun
Fun isn't the only deciding factor. You are overexaggerating what I said. This isn't a competitive game, it's a casual game and fun should be an important factor when designing things. Obviously balance is more important than fun but devs should absolutely not ignore the other side's enjoyment when making changes or adding new things.

When are the various maps reworked?
There is another map rework coming after the next chapter according to the roadmap.

He is fine. The only problem is that the reveal mechanic is still buggy and inconsistent.

They will probably nerf keys soon but if they don't nerf moris with them I will be very pissed.
