If i where to rush straight down one path to the epilogue of the archives, does that then lock out the other challenges i didn't do. do i need to do them before reaching the end?

No, it doesn't lock the other ones.
You can do the others, it doesnt lock you out if you do all the survivor ones first and then go back for killer ones, or vice versa.
