Since Billy's map control is getting taken away can we expect survivors too soon have to start finding gas cans to start generators?

I mean you're starting to take away Killers Mobility while also making the maps bigger and harder to patrol generators on.

Billy's mobility hasn't been touched, he can still do multiple laps of the map without stopping. Hell with the rate shown on the video you can still move from one opposite corner to the other, stop, come back and only THEN overheat.

Hell if anything your point is "the devs SHOULD bring Billy's mobility to the level of other killers so maps can be better balanced rather than having one insanely mobile killer breaking them all."

You know im right, they are all bigger than Springrtrap

And they'll actually be known by more than 6 people 5 years from now.

  • I kind of feel like the first part of the power is a waste of time. I waste my time stalking to give them an alert that they're oblivious and blind and they're gonna run anyway. More often they'll spot you than run straight into you so may as well just chase them from the get go.

She has no power or pressure in a chase at all, her only real map control, like Demogorgon, can be dismantled so that pretty much sucks for reliability.

"Serpent's Mark" only serves to make tunneling easier, something that should never be encouraged by a perk so blatantly.

"A Crooked Mile" would basically have to be a hex, or only apply once at a time on a cooldown.

"I Know Your Name" seems disgustingly strong. Adding 2 seconds to a stun seems ok once, but when it's on 4 different survivors and you tank huge windows where they get basiclly as far away as DS AND have a pallet in front of you, that sucks. It would be like facing old DS every game except you don't even get to down or injure them.

  • I see Pyramid Head more akin to the Huntress than Deathslinger. Mostly because of the fact that all points on strength on the map become points where you're in a fixed animation to take a hit because you can't turn fast enough. At least Deathslinger can't hit you through a dropped pallet.

Biggest difference is that Pyramid Head seems to suffer almost no slowdown or drawback to winding up his power where Huntress does, and she's also a slower killer in general.

  • @Akito said:

Nah. Wouldn't be that fun as a killer if everyone runs Headon with an exhaustion perk like Sprintobursto. Even if Headon has counterplay if a combo like this works it would become meta and not a fun at all.

The only thing I would discuss is that the stun of headon procs once the animation is over so you get the full value of a 3 second stun.

If by "counterplay" you mean "crossing your fingers and hoping the servers are in your favour so a locker halfway across the room doesn't stun you," then sure, it has counterplay.

It got added again after the static blast cooldown addon change was added instead of the "increased madness" addons, while removing the unequal thresholds for madness. The "2 shocks or 1 blast" thingy

Ew, why the hell would they do that? It's terrible and nobody ever used it for a reason. Hitting everything EXCEPT the survivor right in front of you is insane.

  • Does that even exist anymore? Thought it got removed with the doc rework.

  • Flashlights are VERY difficult to balance.

If you make the blind any faster/easier than it is currently, every half-decent survivor can make the killer drop survivors pretty regularly. That's miserable for killers and completely throws off the time dynamics of the game. As it is it's still possible, it's just hard, and for the massive amount of reward it gives, it definitely should be hard.

I'd be all for a slightly longer blind on a higher tier flashlight, or something like briefly distorted vision after a blind (like clown's effect on survivors) or they could add something like "deafens the killer while they are blinded, lowers battery life" as an add on. Something to make them more useful, but not more controlling in terms of drops.

  • Yeah it's normal. Billy mains have thought he was untouchable for years, and thought the constant chant of "Billy most balanced" blinded people to actually seeing him.

  • I'm really curious about how it will work. If the killer has poorer internet, does that mean that every single hit they make on a specific survivor may just not register as long as they're running away? How is one hit going to miss then the next one be ok?

More specifically, how fast is it going to register because if I get blade-wipe animations while survivors run away uninjured I'm gonna be smashing that DC button.

  • Not to mention Claudette and Meg are by far the most popular starters, Meg's perks are invaluable in a chase early on, and Claudette packs the noob's best friend. Because of that they're the most picked characters so the devs give them the most cosmetics so they become even more popular.

Nea is an absolute oddity to me, I don't see why people like hte pig-faced girl and her 16 different half-shaved haircuts. Really I think it's just because being a neon Nea is how people get across that they're the sort of toxic attention seekers.

  • Not to mention make it incredibly bad on the killer who owns it. Why does BUBBA want a perk for M1s?

You know, the cool part about money is that the person who has it, can decide how to spend it. I can choose to pay the 10 Euros for a Skin nobody likes. Or I can eat those 10 Euros. I could even spend more of my money to give it to someone so that this person eats my 10 Euros.

Yep, you're well within your rights to give money to directly support stingey business practices, and screw the rest of us over in the process. Keep that head held high you absolute martyr.

  • It remains to be seen, but I swear to god, if I swing and "miss" despite hitting on my screen, and get stunned by the blade wipe animation while a survivor runs away uninjured, I'll be pissed.

  • No. Dickish? Kinda.

Using as many OP things as you can physically cram into one build knowing it only exists to make people miserable? Yeah.

Then make it part of the head like Bunny Feng, it worked there and this Nea head could work even better than Feng's because of the better division line.

Yeah see that's the funny part, we have notqueen replying that it's so that we get better seamless outfits when it still clearly has seams.

With the re-release of the old event cosmetics, the Devs stated that they had fixed the bugs the caused players to lose limited cosmetics and they were confident they could keep track of who had unlocked them in the future.

The Anniversary Event added a limited cosmetic for most characters, the Rift has added more exclusive cosmetics and according to the PTB a code system to get exclusive items is coming soon. My guess is that the Devs are embracing more limited time and exclusive cosmetics in a way they haven't in the past because they're finally confident that players will keep them unlocked and won't lose them anymore.

Pretty sure they said 6 months on rift cosmetics, so once this pass ends pass 1s stuff should show up in store.

Not sure what the deal is with charms, whether they'll return in any capacity or be reobtainable, or just exclusive. No loss either way, nobody sees or cares about your little danglies most of the time.

  • I think this is one of the biggest times when "speak with your wallet" comes into play.

If you don't want this nonsense of linked skins, then don't pay for them. The idea that this set can't be broken up is laughable. It's a hoodie which we've already seen split on Bunny Feng, and a pair of pants.

At the VERY worst, rather than this "linked skin" for the whole set, they could at least create linked slots so you can only wear the full hoodie but can change the pants.

Point is, as long as player choice in something as simple as mixing and matching outfits is removed, a lot of the value of those cosmetics is lost, so don't give them money for doing this and make it a harder decision for them to KEEP doing it.

Make it clear that trying to squeeze us for $10 for a full set with LESS functionality every time they drop cosmetics will LOWER their profits not raise them.

When the dev's announce some day that all survivors will go down in one shot on the next PTB, I look forward to seeing these same people saying we need to wait and see how it goes. It doesn't matter how big or small the change is, people deserve to be able to give their thoughts especially when we already have video footage of the changes in action.

Don't worry it isn't a DBD thing, every game does it.

Warframe announces a frame with an absolute garbage skill set 6 months in advance and no matter how reasonably you state that the abilities do nothing of value you'll be shouted down with "YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY KNOW IT'S BAD BEFORE YOU TRY IT YOURSELF."

Lo and behold it comes out and it's a steaming turd.

People need to recognise that many people can actually understand the implications of changes before trying it hands on, whether they think it's good or bad. Personally I think these changes are a major improvement to the health and balance of the game, both for Billy and Bubba.

  • They'll almost certainly see a huge drop in sales if they continue this trend.

If I can't buy the piece I want, I won't buy anything at all.

If I can't use a nice piece with other parts I like, then I have no temptation to buy at all.

This locked set nonsense doesn't gain anything for them if it removes most of the reasons people like cosmetics in the first place.

  • Keys are my bigger issue. Going into a match with a key is a completely different game to one without, and actually having a way to remove that from play, rather than just placing on the ground for later use, is going to be an absolute game-changer. Can't wait to Franklin's some SWF who want cheap hatches.

classic. never played billy, never did a curve yet babbling about skill.

I played Billy to get all his achievements, I play him every time I have a daily. Every time it is filthy how easy he is and doesn't feel rewarding to play because of it.

  • Completely agree. Billy lost some of his brainless ease, and Bubba looks incredible, like you wouldn't have to actually have the chainsaw clipping through the survivor's model before you start charging it to land a hit.

they mean most balanced because he is.

    xD

it is so cute to see the boosted people claim some bs about balance and when they can not make a point as to why billy is unbalanced.

Classic. "Boosted" being the people who actually worked to get to high ranks with killers considered difficult, boosted obviously not referring to those who spammed Billy's easy-mode to cruise at every rank.

Said it yourself, "regarded" but he is not, its just what ppl say cuz they like him since he is original. Its the same in every games theres always community favorites and theres nothing wrong with that until it goes too far like now with all the posts shitting on the devs for changing the game which is what everyone wants?

Exactly, people have parroted this for years. They don't mean 'most balanced,' they mean 'I can do well playing Billy when I suck as other killers.' They mean 'every streamer under the sun 4ks consistently as him.' They mean 'I only see something as balanced when it makes the game easy.' They mean 'a streamer parroted "billy most balanced" so I have to too.'

Billy has been head and shoulders above all other killers (bar old Nurse and maybe Spirit) for a long time now. He's been an outlier amongst all the killers who are ACTUALLY balanced by cooldowns and windows where the survivor actually has a chance to break a chase.

They don't like playing that way so anything that skips over the actual skill-based part of killer is 'balanced.'

  • I'm so happy these changes are happening. The constantly revving Hillbilly that moves at 100% survivor speed until you make the slightest move wrong getting a 1 hit down is actually going to die, as is limitless map mobility back and forth.

These were some of the worst parts of Hillbilly, and I'm so glad the devs didn't chicken out against the "MoSt BaLaNcEd KiLlEr" parrots.

On the broader side, nerfing Hillbilly to take some of the skill that the 19 killers have to learn to different degrees means that the window opens for more general killer changes. Without this one outlyer of infinite mobility, easy as hell one hit downs on every loop, etc, the game can actually get balanced in ways that would have otherwise just made him more disgustingly strong.

Dude, Thanatophobia is the only nurse perk not copied by one of her add-ons.

Yeah I'm ready to see "Downing survivors with Bubba's Chainsaw removes 10% of their item's charges."

  • This is the same nonsense they pulled with the Nurse rework.

    BUBBA COMES WITH KNOCKOUT.

BUBBA DOES NOT NEED AN ADD ON FOR KNOCKOUT.

GIVE BUBBA A REAL ADD ON INSTEAD OF COPY PASTING HIS OWN PERK ONTO AN ADD ON.

  • Maybe instead of applying on hit, it spawns a trail where the hit lands, giving them a brief moment after getting hit, but actually adding some value to misses.

As it is it's way too easy to just avoid walking on the trail especially with how many things cause it to disappear, you can't put it near ANYTHING useful.

  • I personally don't like it, and I think a lot of the people that find it useful have just used it for so long that they're used to the information it gives so consider it more useful than it already is.

We have an array of perks nowadays that give much more precise and useful information with auras, gen highlights and everything else under the sun.

I'd take Discordance over Whipsers any day of the week.

  • Really the only part I'm hating as Pyramid Head is that I can't leave the trail anywhere useful. Anywhere near gens, hooks, the hatch, someone scratching their balls and it just deletes itself. It's like it has to be out in the middle of nowhere where only an idiot will step on it, or nothing.

  • Hit survivors 5 times in one frenzy. A situation which will almost never organically occur, which forces you to either hit the 4th person after applying deep wounds, stunning yourself for no gain at all, or re-track down the first person after they've already mended, in which case hitting them with deep wounds only wastes your own time as you will still need to chase them for a third hit. While they have to mend again, the time they would have had is now simply transferred to survivor number two, and the only difference in time bought is that you wasted time running between survivor 4 and 5.

  • When the survivors agree to farm so you can get a STUPID Legion challenge that forces you to play in a way that actually negatively impacts your progress in the game.

I’m still baffled at how much one paragraph on Twitter blew up.

Especially when the message was targeted at the lore of DBD. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like if they released skins that are representative of how some gay men embrace fashion. Like imagine if they had shown concept art of Ace wearing a pink fur coat or something, people would have really lost their minds.

See the issue isn't about representation, it's that people (and likely the devs) jump straight to stereotypes. Many of us are not the sort of people who want to wear pink fur coats or 'embrace fashion,' and the notion that we are constantly represented by such stereotypes marginalises us further.

In writing a 'race-positive' character, they literally made a social justice warrior, and I don't mean that like the way it's thrown around, I mean she is literally someone who fights for social justice. They couldn't make her race-positive without race being her entire identity, and defining feature. I'm worried that we're going to get the exact same stereotypes thrown at us and be told 'there, be grateful you're represented now!'

Honestly the parody of what it is to be gay that is represented in most TV shows these days is about as accurate as racial stereotypes being used to make ethnic characters, then telling them "you should be grateful that we included you, even if it was in an offensive way!"

You didn't know that the Y chromosome is a mutated X chromosome and that's why men suffer far more from genetic disorders than women, as well as why we all start out with vaginas in the womb?

EDIT: Small typo, mixed up X and Y.

Degree in physiology here. It's not 'because the Y is a mutated X chromosome,' it's because the X and Y chromosome are not a homologous pair, so recombination is largely not possible, meaning genetic abnormalities will be passed on with far greater frequency than when 2 X chromosomes are allowed to recombine and potentially erase the abnormality.

Additionally because the X and Y chromosome are not homologous, and males do not have a second X chromosome, any disorder present in the X chromosome (or Y) will be expressed, where females have a second X chromosome which may protect them with a normal, dominant genotype.

Ghastly Gateaus are being fixed in the next hotifx, a new matchmaking system is gradually being tested in some regions, VPNs should become a non-issue with the upcoming server side hit validation, and bug fixes are on the way. As for the new map, while I don't discount your opinion, it is exactly that, an opinion. I've seen a lot of people say that they like that map as well.

Just about everything you've mentioned is being worked on and should be resolved in the near future, some (Gateaus) sooner than others.

Forgive us, but we'll believe it when we see it. The exact same things have been said for years. This current matchmaking was "being tested in specific regions" like 2 years ago and was almost unnoticeable when it launched, with just as many complaints about red ranks and brown being thrown together.

What people are saying is that we'd like to see a focus on bug fixes, because the game has invariably been plagued with recurring sound bugs and the likes for years at this point. Small things get 'fixed' and then come right back with a hotfix the next week where they go back to being worked on for months. It would honestly just be lovely to be able to rely on sound in a game where you're SUPPOSED to be able to hear things like footsteps and breathing, but it's broken more often than not so why bother?

Many games have done some form of "operation health" and been greatly praised for it. Rather than patching a handful of small bugs while adding twice as many alongside other changes, just have a large scale cleanup that would hopefully last longer than 2 weeks before the same bugs return.

  • The part I loathe about him, even in SWF, is that there's no indication as to whether he landed a hit or not. There's no global scream when the harpoon lands, no icon on the hud for a harpooned ally, just the same gunshot as a miss.

It makes it really annoying to make informed decisions when you have a 10 second window where you're not sure if someone's basically down already or still in a chase.

  • Matchmaking sucks, and it's because rank sucks.

It's so easy to rank up and it's legitimately difficult to derank. I was gone for 6 months and my rank only reset to 13, that's just barely past halfway. Even doing the absolute bare minimum in a match you're very likely to maintain rank rather than lose it unless you actually ran square into the killer and got hard tunneled/camped.

So therein lies the main problem. You have 2 major populations of players; the high ranks, and the new players in the brown ranks. Everything inbetween is a scarcely populated scattering of players who quickly rise up to near the red ranks whether they're actually good players or not, pushed even further by stronger friends carrying their ass.

So what happens when there's not a squad of newbies searching at the same time as you, or just for arguement's sake, 6,000 squads of noobs and 6,001 killers? The game has a timer where once you've been searching it will just give you whatever party so you don't complain about queue time. So where's the other most populated area, most likely to have a squad waiting for you? Red ranks.

They need to seriously sit down and work out ranks in a way that makes them actually meaningful, and hopefully in a way that doesn't actually glorify the red ranks, so people are more likely to reach a rank they belong at and stay there rather than just zoom up to red ranks at lightspeed after a couple of weeks of playing.

Bare minimum is someone has to die first, along with 3 gens done. Mori takes less effort and rewards you for just playing the game.

Both shorten the game and give you a cheap win for not doing all of your objective. "Bare minimum" you still have to catch someone 2/3 times to mori them unless it's a yellow.

  • @Funkerlied said:

if it requires you to basically not play the game dont you think we should tweak the killers adept conditions then?

literally like 6 killers have to play weird in order to get it

The reasoning largely comes down to 'they can't change console achievements' and 'they can't be bothered changing the in-game merciless requirements.' Devs have commented on it before.

  • Yes, sometimes it can be better to down someone and let them get healed up so that you can get an extra chase for the chaser emblem. DCs count as a kill, but for the devout emblem you need at least 10 hooks to get iridescent, so if they DC before being hooked once you lose 1 emblem, after 1 hook you'd still need to hook every other survivor 3 times.

Some killers also get massively screwed over by their power. Anyone with a one-hit down should NOT use it if they can avoid it. That includes Billy, Bubba, Plague's entire ability, Myers, Ghostface. If you one-hit down, that's half as many chases and half as many hits, and you receive no compensation even though you're playing the killer as intended.

  • I would've called that herding more than zoning. Zoning is more about keeping someone at a specific distance imo, like in Dota when you try to keep enemies back by harrassing them in lane.

Both of those are intentional to make you buy the premium battlepass. You are supposed to get frustrated with the free version to get you to spend money. Your suggestions are good but they will never be implemented because that would make the system less scummy and the system being scummy is the point.

I know that, it's completely transparent. Either way I just came back from a 6 month break so there's no way I'll get enough tiers to be worthwhile regardless.
