ok. that makes sense..except that it's still requiring you to escape..

so why not just say "escape 5 x". a bit odd considering there's literally an "escape 3 times" challenge..

Because most of those challenges are alongside a killer one on the path, there's probably a "get 5 gold devout emblems" on the same spot on the killer side.

  • Gold is escaping but having been downed at least once. Iridescent is escaping without being downed.

  • Discordance, by far. It almost always tells me exactly where to go in the crucial moments in the start of the match, and constantly updates me throughout the match. The amount of times it lets me see people trying to crank out a gen while I'm busy that lets me get some free extra hits, and get a better PGtW are incredible.

  • Detective's Hunch. Love that #########.

I'm pretty good with where most totems spawn, but the amount of time it saves looking, and the knowledge of there never being noed is just such a great security perk. It got majorly buffed a while back by not needing to personally complete the gen, and even moreso by ruin not slowing down the early gens. Absolute hex destroyer.

  • Days like these, you miss the "vote down" option.

  • ROFL, 360 seconds to get your trap off AND it's guaranteed which box it's in. You could literally do all of the gens and have the gates open before even considering your trap.

If a Pig is patrolling Jigsaw boxes she is hurting her own game. The entire point of the RBTs is to get survivors not doing gens. If you're focusing on people who aren't doing gens, then you're losing out to the survivors who still are.

The exception is survivors with their head up their asses that behave as though having an RBT on makes them invincible.

    • If you run out in front of the Pig, SHE CAN STILL HIT YOU.
    • If you noisily search a jigsaw box in the jungle gym where Pig is chasing someone, she will hit you because you're standing still as an easy target.
    • If you get unhooked, and go to the nearest jigsaw box and immediately search it, she might be doing a quick check, especially if she wasn't occupied so she went back to the hook and found nobody, if you're at the closest one it's an easy detour that doesn't require checking every box. Be smart and go further away.
    • Pay attention to when the Pig sees you. If I;m chasing someone and see you crouching around near a Jigsaw box, then I hook them and your trap icon disappears, guess where I'm checking?

If, and it's a very big if, the key were predetermined, you wouldn't get 360 seconds to search, something closer to 60 seconds would be fairer. It would force you to act now and do something that's not gens. It would probably also remove the 4 charges from her power as they would very rarely be lethal. It would also be bad to always assign it to the furthest one as then the Pig knows what direction to go.

Her stealth is stealth. Like other stealth killers, you have to actually use those things in your head called eyes and be aware of what's around you. Considering you'll almost always see a Jigsaw box before the Pig reaches you, you have no reason not to be on high alert. Her crouching action is slow. Her movement speed is slow. Her ambush charge speed is slow. If you're not reacting to the loud warning roar and still getting regularly hit by that, that's your own issue. In fact half of the changes you suggest are reversing buffs she's got previously because of how weak it was the way you want it. A "small" 18m terror radius is larger than a 110% killer with M&A. Your concept of terror radius size is ludicrously poor. 4.8m/s is 0.2m/s faster than her walking speed. It would literally cover less ground than just standing up and walking with the charge time. As it is it can't even catch up to a survivor who is running away in a straight line in most cases.

Half of the add ons you mentioned aren't even good, exhaustion and blindness suck, mostly for the fact that aiming for someone with a trap on is terrible. Combat straps and the viedo tape basically make her ambush usable in more than esoteric situations.

  • I'll be honest I utterly loathe his portals.

They're too fast to close, they give too little detriment to closing. For mobility, he has to walk to the two different points first, place them slowly, and then needs to walk to one of those places to use them, after which one probably gets shut fast. Anyone with mobility does it better than that. I hate that he has a lot of emphasis on stealth and being undetectable, but publicly announces every time that he is stealthy to everyone on the map to put everyone on red alert.

I hate that his tracking both requires walking around holding M2 like a tool, AND doesn't function at all until survivors are aware of the trap. It makes it so so so rare that there's a situation where you ever get useful information that you can capitalise off of.

    Shred's ok I guess.

I'd love to see a ~purple add on to remove the roar on teleporting. Much better than "a fraction of a second of exhaustion after being near a portal."

  • There's lots of potential reasons.

I know devs have expressed in the past that they will flat out ignore people who become angry, get rude, or express such bad behaviour in their titles. It's their job to make a good game, and addressing feedback is done on their own time, they don't owe it to people to take abuse and still do that person a courtesy.

There's also the fact that they may have been asked the same questions time and time again, and simply be done repeating the same answers. There's plenty of good reasons that plenty of people have talked about for nerfing Billy the way they did, none of those good reasons are going to satisfy or change the mind of a rabid Billy fanboy who just wants to argue.

Thirdly, humans have this thing called a sense of humour. The title in question can quite easily be taken as "I know I'm about to get an onslaught of BILLY MOST BALANCED, so how about be nice about it?" As with the forums, I'm sure all feedback was considered, but that doesn't automatically mean 'every comment means the game will be changed to suit it.'

Edit: And opening the vod, literally in the first minute of talking; "Why are you nerfing Hillbilly? I think that's addressed fairly clearly in the dev update." So clearly he's not there to debate the view one way or another, the devs have made their statement clear and available to you.

Had a few matches on both sides with similar scenarios.. 2 generators pop within 2 minutes.. and then another one a few minutes later.. then a stalemate because they went to work too fast and ended up 3-4-5 gen'ing themselves.. Yes it sucks having generators get done that fast.. but it doesn't mean you'll lose in the end

I don't think it's a losing situation, I just think it's taken a lot of the fun, the fear, the atmosphere and the hunt out of the early game. Every match seems to just be looking to see which gen is furthest away and finding 3-4 survivors on it.

  • I'm getting really over "Killer spawns at A, survivors spawn at B as far as possible away from A, all together, and have a gen 75% done before the killer can walk to them."

It feels like it's every single match. They spawn as a team, there's no isolation or figuring out where the best direction to go is, or "maybe I'll do some totems and open chests," it's just "we're all here, do this gen."

  • I would rather facecamp and tunnel someone out of the match for using Object of Obsession, than play the match normally and have SWF dance around me with stupidly accurate information being constantly broadcast to them.

  • It exists solely to fill add on slots when the devs run out of ideas.

  • Nah I mean a 110 killer with no mobility is just #########, even if his power can be strong when there's no pallets anywhere. I kinda feel like he's in "full rework" status more than nerf or buff.

  • I wouldn't mind nerfs to Deathslinger if it meant he could have any form of map pressure/presence beyond camping.

  • Billy's power was a complete outlier amongst all killers.

Permanent high mobility. Permanent one hit downing. No cooldown. No drawbacks. (Unless you missed and hit something like a rank 20.) And that was all before his 'broken' add ons.

Bringing his power down to a more equal footing with the rest of the killers means that the killer role in general can see more global changes without Billy making them ridiculous.

  • If you're both at the hatch, the win goes to whoever pushes the jump/close button first and starts their animation.

  • He's a licensed character from Left 4 Dead.

  • You're living in the distant past if you're calling self-care meta. I don't see anyone in the red ranks using it any more for good reason. There's better options for healing by far, and even just any other perk is usually a net gain.

I can honestly say I don't understand the hardon people have for Corrupt Intervention, and never have. It relocates the survivors away from the outer gens, which means the grouped gens near the middle get done while you're chasing survivor number one. That sets the killer up for the absolute anti-genlock, which in the case of most killers who want to buy time, really throws most of their late game potential out the window. It's a big gamble that your early game goes well enough to play down a perk AND with a poorer layout in the late game. The rare exception is spawning up one end of Azarov's or Suffocation Pit. I know I'm gonna get "BUT X, Y AND Z YOUTUBER SAID I HAVE TO USE IT" but really I'd just prefer something more consistent and tangible. Especially with the fact that 99% of games these days you can just walk to a distant gen and smack 3-4 survivors off it, injuring them all cos they all think they're invisible the second you hit one.

  • TBH the whole point of the perk is "neener neener you can't PGtW this gen!"

  • @CaptainZero said:

As a survivor main, every time I jump into a game and notice Ruin is in play, I know I'm not going to have anywhere near as much fun in that particular round. Not because I have a problem with Ruin in general, but I truly believe it is a bit on the strong side. It forces me to spend almost the entire game on one generator (until someone just happens to find the totem) as when I back away to hide from the killer and get back again, a big chunk of the progress is gone - and if I leave to go help a hooked survivor, I'll be lucky if the gen has any repair left on it.

Instead of 200% regression, I would happily accept a 180% regression. Only a slight nerf that won't hurt it too much but allow me to have a bit more fun/fighting chance in the game.

Or you could take literally like 30 seconds and remove it from the match entirely, rather than just whining about how it's ruining your match.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/171942/why-are-a-lot-of-killers-freeloading-on-survivors-event-cakes

There are 5 players in a game. Each of them is as likely to burn a cake as everyone else, regardless of whether they're the killer, or not.

The most common reason for people not burning cakes is the fact that they're playing their "main" whilst levelling up another character, hence all the cakes are on the other character.

Especially as killer playing something with BBQ and a good set of perks is a lot more impactful than having a cake on a freshly prestiged killer. At least as survivor you can basically go in perkless and still know you'll get a similar amount of points.

  • I miss when survivors actually had to try to make the hatch appear.

Nah, i dont agree with any of those. Lithe is a worst exaustion perk(confirmed) alert<spine chill, technican... Is :/ . I mean, on highest ranks where everyone litterally scores 75% perfect skill check its :/ . The way to fix that is that perk would 50/50 grant also no progress loss

They asked for beginners. Beginners aren't going to make good use of dead hard nad are more likely to take a hit trying to get to a BL point, and in your opinion being the worst exhaustion perk, it's still a solid perk. They're more likely to spend the match doing nothing panicking every time spine chill lights up than using it for good information. More than that they're probably likely to go running straight at the killer every time it goes off. And yeah, beginners aren't "highest ranks."

During the PTB one of the devs said that if it turns out to be weak they can always buff it later by making it work when injured.

    So, obviously, that didn't happen.

They also said they'd watch to see if Freddy's haemmorhage and blindness add ons needed changes, so don't hold your breath over vague promises.

They were restricting themselves. Note the "self-" in "self-censor". You can claim it's taking characters after the fact, but if that were so, why would they announce that one character they'd released was LGBT and then do nothing with it for over a year?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1440333#Comment_1440333

They were already explicit about heterosexuals. That ship has sailed. There is absolutely no reason not to give LGBT characters the same treatment.

You know what else would stop these fights? People giving LGBT lore the same treatment as non-LGBT lore; that is, pay no attention to it whatsoever.

Well gee, maybe it lets people white knight for them without actually having to do anything.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1440320#Comment_1440320

My apologies for assuming, then. However, that doesn't change the fact that that ship has sailed. There's no reason for them to self-censor and restrict it to heterosexual characters and relationships.

It never was restricted. Like you said, there are gay characters. What you're advocating for is taking characters after the fact and tacking on sexualities because it's the hip new thing on the internet.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1440112#Comment_1440112

No characters are going to be changed, their lore is going to be expanded. We know for a fact that at least one of them is LGBT, according to the devs. It's unfortunate that you didn't oppose the creation of the Rifts, which expand the lore for already-released characters, because now there's no reason to keep doing it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1440237#Comment_1440237

At least one of the characters already in the roster is LGBT, according to the devs. Does that assuage your fears?

No. Because there are plenty of characters who could be gay, and that was always a good thing. The fact that the devs feel the need to make a pandering twitter update to say "we're going to be more blatant about it" is a bad thing.

  • I'm gay and I firmly don't believe that sexual orientation should be focused on in a game like this. It is scarecely relevant, and I had a whole lot more respect for their previous decision that orientation wouldn't be addressed for the vast majority of characters so it's up to the player to decide and who to relate to. You're running around hacking people apart and hanging them on meathooks, who they want to sleep with isn't relevant.

Personally, I find it hard to be optomistic about them discussing sexuality in character lore for a number of reasons.

Firstly, they lack subtlety in a lot of cases. The biggest example for me is Zarina. In creating a "race-positive" character, they created a character whose entire personality and backstory is just her race. Race is important but like anything else, completely dominating a character's entire personality with one detail is shallow and to a degree, insulting to people who care about that detail in themselves.

Secondly, the current events surrounding the LGBT community and "gender identity" have left a lot of the community split, flinging insults, and creating toxic, destructive movements across many forms of social media. This is not the time to hedge your bets on an LGBT character. One wrong word and the company can very quickly get labelled as "phobic," exploitative of the movement etc.

Lastly, we so often get represented by a barrage of stereotypes in media. For what is meant to be a time where we're most accepted and 'normal,' we're constantly dragged back to these parodies of the feminine guy who likes make up or drag, and clubbing. It doesn't represent a huge amount of us, and for many these sorts of representations aren't any better than putting in racial stereotypes and saying "you should just be glad to be represented at all." As I've said above, they don't have a great track record of subtlety, and I'm skeptical that they can create characters that are LGBT without it being their personality.

  • I'm really not sure. On the one hand it's going to be very difficult to put in challenges for things you have to buy, in a pass you have to buy to get real rewards. That said, when has BHVR ever been concerned about pushing players to spend too much money on nothing.

On the other hand, they're doing 4 original characters per pass atm, and that's going to cause them to run out very fast, and have to repeat characters (when they've already shown they can't make enough unique challenges without recycling across different tiers) or rerun passes altogether.

  • @Nickeh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1439659#Comment_1439659

I'm not trying to troll here, I promise. But what you described is looping.

What? There's a distinct difference between a good player who can run between a lot of tiles, evade the killer, and in some cases lose them, and a person who just finds the safest pallet, runs 7 laps of it, then moves to the next one.

  • Object of Obsession.

    Keys.

Add ons that increase number of hatchets.

  • And it took years for Valve to let it not be an exclusive character.

Sony are notoriously protective of licenses, especially those that push people to buy consoles for exclusives.

  • Spirit has never not been complained about.

  • Absolutely not.

NOED does not "reward failure." Failure as a killer is survivors walking out the exit gate, until that happens, you have not failed. Generators go fast, and NOED is a perk that capitalises on that fact. In my view it's an alternative to a stalling perk. Stalling perks try to slow the game down by slowing down generator progress, allowing you to get more done in the time before all 5 gens are done. NOED doesn't slow those gens down, but instead creates a new power spike after that part of the main objective.

NOED creates a unique pressure, similar to DS. When you're in a match with no obsession, it's amazing how much more tunneling you'll see. That's because of the threat of Decisive Strike, even if only one, or even no survivors have the perk. NOED is similar. If NOED is not a threatening perk, dull totems may as well not exist. If they don't have a chance to become scary, people don't waste time on them. What that means for killers who don't run NOED is that they get 15-75 seconds of time extra (almost a full 6th gen) as long as NOED is both prevalent amongst killers and scary. Nerfing NOED is a nerf to all killers whether they use it or not.

No, NOED cannot be lit from the start of the match, as just like above, that removes any meaning from dull totems. No, NOED can't last a minute. That makes it physically impossible for it to even guarantee one hook state, which means that all survivors have to do is wait for it to time out and then use all their exact same crutchy perks to babysit someone out the exit gate. It completely devalues the killer's perk by preventing it from doing the one thing it actually does, which is create a threatening endgame situation.

NOED is a very simple perk to completely disable every single match. Unlike generators, they don't take long to do as they are done in 15 second intervals that can't be 'regressed.' If you struggle, or worry that totems are too well hidden, maps exist for that reason, small game exists for that reason, detective's hunch exists for that reason. Don't complain that there are 'no good perks' because not every perk is a second-chance, then neglect actual decent perks that fix issues you have a problem with.

  • You missed "0 new players, because people come in and see 4-6 default characters on either side, and 45 locked characters they have to pay for or grind MONTHS for."

  • You want a perk that can stack up to 9% haste. There are killers that are only 10% faster than survivors, and survivors already move faster around objects due to smaller hiboxes. There is also Hope which grants haste in the endgame.

You literally want survivors that are faster than most killers.

  • I got abused today for tunneling someone as Oni, because literally every time I chased someone else, I'd try to mindgame around a jungle gym with his charge and EVERY TIME this Nancy just came out of nowhere doing full deer in headlights.

Apparently I'm a terrible person for just whacking her on the hook instead of slugging her and letting everyone skip out the exit gates together.

  • @Angel_di_Soufre said:

the pattern I see is that they are revisiting early/OG killers, updating them in some fashion

So, can we all agree that Hillbilly and Nurse just needed an add-on pass? Base kit being fairly fine and all that, they just needed to fix problematic add-ons but they also made “minimal changes”

guess who has the next problematic add-on combo? Yes, Huntress, I see them being tenacious enough to change something else about her (at least they can’t limit her with a cooldown... right??)

Im surprised Leatherface base-kit is decent but those add-ons are also worrisome

like look man, you see my profile picture, I like my Boi, Wraith just needs faster movement speed while cloaked and maybe faster action speed while cloaked so we can use his fun add-ons more freely but I’m paranoid they will mess that up somehow

like an add-on pass or reworking his power while I just want to Ding Ding and give everyone fun matches

No. We can't "all agree that Hillbilly and Nurse just needed an add-on pass." We aren't all buying into your narrative just because you liked stupidly mobile killers with equally ridiculous chase-ending power and decided to call that "balanced."

  • 100%, I'd prefer things that look bad mixed and matched but are ALLOWED to be mixed and matched, over a set where I can't have any choice at all. Will not be spending money on ANY of these locked sets. Especially since those so far haven't been anything WORTH being locked as of yet, they were just too lazy to do a shaved texture on the back of Nea's head.

  • Yeah once you press a to continue the option to prestige will be in the center of your bloodweb.

  • I've gotta say, I flat out don't understand the devs' design pilosophy half the time.

Look at Huntress, she came in and they were like "ok, we have a ranged killer, so to compensate we're gong to make it so that survivors have a really large area that lets them know she's around."

Then Deathslinger comes out and it's like "ok, we have a ranged killer, so let's make him stealthy af, like no terror radius until you're already in shooting range, and add ons that can let him shoot you outside TR."

  • I honestly found her more fun before they buffed her with a default fountain. I used to be great at capitalising on survivors staying sick, use thana to its full power, and get some really easy downs. And every so often people would cleanse and the game goes into havoc as they all panic.

Now cleansing is just taken for granted. I can't keep people injured because they're always using their free instaheals. Corrupt Purge is nice but I don't actually find it as fun to use as just chasing sick people, watching it spread and break them, giving me information as they cough and splutter.

Not to mention if like 5 people cleanse I lose 6 uses of corrupt.

  • I always enjoy how these discussions play out for both sides. Killers are usually like "DS shouldn't work on lockers, or there should be a shorter timer, or being fully healed and working on a gen should disarm it."

Then there's survivors with "DELETE NOED."

  • @LordRegal said:

Just TR, any other noises made by killers are still made. Makes Oblivious pretty useless on Huntress, Freddy, and other killers with easy ways to hear they're close.

Gee if only Huntress also came with a perk to grant undetectable, and like, in the middle of a chase when they already know where you are. That would just be the peak of redundancy.

  • I think the point is that now EVERY killer can have readily available stealth. If you're just getting one shot by Billy and Bubba out of nowhere, or have a Myers in T3 down half your team with no real warning as to whether he's even nearby, then it's gonna feel a little #########, especially with how often it can activate.

Stealth is a heavily regulated thing on killers who have it in their kit, there's drawbacks, warning noises, speed penalties, or channels to come out of stealth, so having EVERY killer be able to activate stealth has to come with some form of heads up to the survivors.

    1. Top priority is a complete add on overhaul. Give her add ons to improve the ambush, and move debuffs from 'trapped survivors' to 'survivors hit by ambush.' Rework all of the Jigsaw box add ons to something more useful like +search time AND +skill check fail penalty, it has to be something that tangibly increases the effectiveness every time, not only skill check penalty, and certainly not this rubbish skill check odds that can improve the search time for survivors.
    2. Move the ambush roar to when she completes the channel, or at least halfway through. It's an ambush so should not come with "I AM ABOUT TO AMBUSH YOU NOW, GET OUT OF THE WAY."
    3. Adjust the rules of RBTs to have some impact in the endgame. It was the original version of her power that was most thematically relevant to Saw, a trap that keeps people in the game and keeps them pressured. I believe it should PAUSE the EGC as long as someone has a trap on, because the game's still going and ######### can still go down. Having them simply stop working is ridiculous for a power with only 4 charges anyway.
  • I like the idea that I can hit a neon nea more times to make her less obnoxious.

    @DarkMagik said:

But the devs said that it isn't as easy as just putting blood on clothes.

Dude. I'm not saying that pig needs a nerf, but I think she's gonna be nerfed in her update rework in the same way like bubba and billy.

Pig doesn't need changes like that because she's had them from the get go. Her stealth comes with a movement speed debuff, and her RBTs have limited charges across the match.

Killers like Billy never had any real downside, nor resource-management. You could use the chainsaw as often as you liked at any given time. Pig has always had to think about her ambush because using it too liberally punishes you by giving survivors a lot of distance between you, and RBTs can't ever be 'spammed.'

1 … 30 31 32 33 34 … 70
