  • Are we just including lobbies or actually playing? Because in Aus the community isn't exactly massive so you easily get lobbies with recognisable "we want to make you hate the game" squads 3-4 times a night minimum if you're in red ranks.

So I think you're actually thinking of the Malicious Emblem.

Chaser awards points for getting a hit in chase and that's about it. There is no bonus benefit to leading longer chases as killer. Mainly because you want to end chases quickly to pressure the survivor team. Both long and short chases that ultimately end in a down should award the same amount of Chaser points. Though longer ones might give you more Hunting Bloodpoints.

Malicious awards points per hit, meaning an insta-down (or one of Myer's insta-kill abilities) miss out on points in this category. Downing a survivor with basic attacks will ultimately yield 2 points (Healthy -> Injured + Injured -> Dying). Using something like a Chainsaw or Evil Within III only nets 1 (Healthy -> Dying).

Best fix would probably be to adjust this category to reward/penalize killers for survivor health state changes. Ie, any time a survivor went from Healthy to Dying state, the killer would be rewarded with 2 points regardless of how the survivor reached that state. This would ideally help killers like Plague, Leatherface, and Trapper who tend to put survivors into situations where they can be downed in one hit (or grabbed out of a trap), while also slightly toning down Legion's ridiculous potential in this category.

The issue there is that for Plague, 90% of the time survivors don't go from healthy to dying, they stay injured all match so you only get 1 point per chase/down instead of 2.

  • I agree with this in terms of powers. If you use a power effectively, then you get severely punished in rank. You're a great player at Hillbilly, Leatherface, Michael, Ghostface or Plague? You just don't pip anywhere near as well as say, a half-decent Spirit or Nurse.

They should receive something like 1.5x points for chaser and malicious with one hit downs from their power, or for survivors who remain broken by infection for like 60s after being unhooked, long enough that it's a choice not a tunnel.

I disagree on it affecting perks though. One-hit-down perks make the game incredibly easy when they're active and take very little skill from the killer's side, so I don't think they should be rewarded as highly as skill using the powers. That said, second chance perks effectively give survivors additional chaser emblems so I guess the case could be made.

    @PigMainClaudette said:

I actually like the idea of them giving you less reward. You are in essence doing HALF the work of a killer who doesn't use instant-downs and therefore should be given HALF the reward. The Chaser emblem also rewards shorter chases for killers, with under 8 seconds for a hit being considered "perfect", and longer ones for survivors.

The Benevolence emblem is also a communal emblem that covers unhooking and healing for all survivors. Survival is literally lasting as long as you can. What would be nice for it is for escaping to give a guaranteed gold, as it already does, but there is also the possibility of getting gold if you last a long time, or until EGC starts. Not that survivor needs an easier time getting emblems as it is, though.

I get what you're saying, but I also completely disagree. Half of the killers who have instant-downs can have one easy change done to their standard gameplay on the player's side and it would stop just about all of the pipping problems. Plague especially.

That's just completely nonsensical to me. Most of these cases are punishing people who have higher skill with the killer, and you're saying "players who negelect the power entirely and play like a rank 20 M1ing everything are the ones who deserve the pips."

A Billy who wins every single chase with a chainsaw doesn't belong in the mid ranks any more than one who gets every hit as an M1 deserves to be in red ranks. It's even more of an issue with adepts where you're essentially forced to play powerless which shows nothing about how adept you are with the killer.

"Half of the killers who have instant-downs can have one easy change done to their standard gameplay on the player's side and it would stop just about all of the pipping problems. Plague especially."

Yeah, just never infect anyone ever. Great Plague strategy right there.

  • Because you're going 30% faster. That means you work at 130% or 1.3 charges per second. 100 charges divided by 1.3 charges per second is 77 seconds.

70 seconds would be if the action took 30% less time which would be an increase of about 43% speed.

It's probably easier in terms of 50%. If you act 50% faster, that's 150% speed, and you complete something in 2/3 the time. But if you want to complete something in 50% of the time, you would need to act twice as fast which would be a 100% speed increase.

Ok, i thought that crows would prevent you from hiding at one spot but instead to run around and hiding from the killer would not be since there is a chance to find you. I was goofing around with friend only to hide and run but was not sure about rules about that so wanted to chek it. Thanks :)

No, they only appear after a minute of inactivity. Even if you're just crouching around or change lockers occasionally they won't show up, which is why it's considered holding the game hostage. The killer has no reasonable way to find you.

I knew I should've added "This is a question for OP" to my comment. I thought maybe the fact that I was quoting OP would be enough of an indicator, but I guess not.

Yeah, thought you might, but then I decided I didn't care because at best it was an attempt to trip OP up on maths and belittle them for no reason on a thread which makes a good point. :)

My question is, how does this fit the lore? The challenges of the archives generally are either "do the thing you already do," or "do something that represents the highlighted characters." There was one like this in the last tome, but it fit Dwight. This really doesn't feel like it fits either Meg or Ace.

The only thing I can think of is Adrenaline = surviving late game.

Tell me, if an interaction takes 100 charges to complete by default and you're using an add-on that increases your interaction speed by 30%, how long will it take you to complete the interaction?

    Around 77 seconds.

  • @Deadeye said:

I also think this is a plain debuff. Both buffs are simply countered by recovering. Make them at least unable to do anything for 15 seconds (no recovering, no movement, blindness, oblivious) then I would eat the basic attack requirement

Exactly, if it stopped recovery it would at least be somewhat useful in the small pp meta.

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

Like, how am I supposed to benefit from that change? They can't crawl for 15 seconds? They don't need to, as they just recover during that time. And now I can't use it for most killers who suffer from "basic attack requirement" bs..

It was completely reworked. Now it's harder to trigger, and just as easily circumvented by SWF. Enjoy!

I'm not advocating adding a red bar at all, I'd just like to point out that what you're saying is incorrect. Holding hatchets is very often the right play except at short loops. The survivors do actually lose ground on you, because they have to dodge. If they don't, they get clobbered with a charged shots that flies at 40 m/s with very generous hitboxes even without considering dedicated servers. Rushing a throw is actually the way to miss most of the time, unless the survivors are basic or take bad pathing/lock themselves in animation.

Feel free to watch videos of the best huntress players or guides. You will see they're not shy at all about holding hatchets for what seems forever.

It's not about whether you can or can't use her power while holding it, it's that moving at 80% speed still gives the survivors a fair chance at capitalising when she makes a mistake. Billy moves at 100% which allowed him to just hold it and keep pace until the survivor slipped and he got a free down.

  • Because his add ons didn't follow the rarity spread of the other killers.

You don't have to do it in one game. Any time someone escapes while you are alive you get +1 progress. Doesn't matter how. Doesn't matter if you then die.

If you are on the hook and everyone else escapes because the killer has NOED for example you would get progress for every survivor that escapes.

I'm telling you, I just watched 3 people walk out of gates while I was struggling on the hook, and was then greeted with 0/3. I can tell you for a fact that you do not get points if you don't survive despite the ambiguous wording of the challenge.

  • @Madjura said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1490733#Comment_1490733

because you yourself also have to escape in order to get credit.

You do not. You get credit every time someone escapes, while you are alive. If you then die you do not lose your progress.

No, you do not. My second attempt I took the killer away from the gates and went on my second hook as all 3 left, still 0/3. You do have to escape as well.

  • @Seanzu said:

I think most people are misunderstanding, this isn't just in one trial, it's multiple trials, you could get it in one game, you could get it in multiple, this is so far from being a disgusting challenge, imagine just being in the exit gate and someone leaves before you, easy point towards the challenge, lol.

Again, you're still relying on dickhead teammates to walk out of the gate before you. You know those teammates? The ones who want to break their ctrl key mashing it as many times as possible? Yeah those ones that you get every single game.

  • Glad to see they haven't stepped anything up in terms of creativity. Highlight challenges from level 1 and 2, copy, paste, increase numbers.

  • @rottmeister said:

I'm probably leaving this challenge for last. Too much RNG. Could take a while to complete.

I pretty much have, the only other ones are boring ######### like "get emblems" "get bloodpoints" "sit on gens."

  • Also just had the ######### great realisation that despite the terrible wording, it means you must survive as well, not just "be in the trial while they escape."

That makes this utter BS even worse.

Legit is the expectation that we just sit in a locker once 5 gens are done until everyone else decides they're good and ready to leave?

  • @Pawcelot said:

If it pops up once, it'll no doubt pop up several times throughout.

Well I am gay too and don't see how it would affect neither me or you. I take it you aren't a very flamboyant or feminine person based on your response, and neither am I, but some people do identify with the type of people drag queens are and shouldn't be excluded from representation. I've always said that stereotypes exist for a reason. This one happens to be so because there are a lot of flamboyant and feminine gay guys out there.

That's the issue, they aren't "excluded from representation," they're what we see every time there's some form of 'gay' representation. It's like putting in racial stereotypes then going "oh but that's ok because some people are represented by that."

Not debatable, you see it all the time. I didn't say all or even most, I said there are trolls. That is not subject to debate. Not saying you're wrong about that accusation which is thrown out easily but I couldn't say "most" because idk.

Well I'm gay and I certainly don't want it. I hate how often we're represented by stereotypes like that, and would much rather see a character that isn't flamoyant or feminine, or exceedingly butch if it's a female.

You mention David King, but the fact that they actually revealed that he had a girlfriend is one of the reasons why the devs revised their original statement of not giving sexual preferences because they have contradicted themselves multiple times. (Nurse, Joey+Julie, David King, Ace [outfit descriptions])

it didn’t stay like this since Nurse. They can’t revert it now but they can start not excluding other relationships than hetero ones. And that’s what they want to do.

    There's a B in LGBT

Yes, they changed the range. Shoots farther than needed at close range

Which is really annoying, because rather than going out further and landing at a greater distance, it arcs upwards and can go right over survivors in front of you.

  • Huntress doesn't need the red bar because there's a realistic downside to holding up a hatchet, survivors gain ground on you.

Billy on the other hand moves at the same speed as a running survivor. There's a big difference.

  • I feel like the intention is to utilize the abilities of a map or a key with Open Handed. What else are they gonna do for it? Read 4 auras?

  • @Walker_of_the_fog_96 said:

I think bhvr's idea is not to give sexual preference to its characters, so players can identify with their own survs and killers. So both a homosexual person and a heterosexual person can feel identified with David King, Yui Kimura, Jake Park, etc.

Why? because these characters have no sexual preference.

and I think it should stay like this.

It was until they made a big deal posting that they're changing that during pride month.

  • Also I don't know if it's just me but it's incredibly difficult to puke close in front of you. Even when you look down the puke still arcs upward like it never has before. Took me like 3 shots just to infect a gen right in front of me.

  • I put this together watching otz's video on add on tiers, he wasn't in it yet and I haven't been bothered to search the wiki for probably half-complete values yet.

  • @Nicholas said:

I think it would be fabulous!

    Ooh, there's #4.

  • I started making a bingo card of all the stereotypes they're likely to land on when they make an LGBT character.

You somehow already landed on 3 of them.

  • It might have been changed with the rework. Knockout works in a radius around the slugged survivor, it doesn't limit every other survivor's aura reading to the range that that person's at, you can still see things futher away than the slug, so it doesn't make sense that extending your aura reading range would decrease the radius around that survivor.

While it may have worked that way in the past, I don't see this as a bug, more as the interaction finally working rationally.

Edit: This is how I see it, your aura is hidden not just further away.

I can't believe they named a skin after a boss from binding of Isaac...

In all seriousness though, it's a fictional game. A lot of the killers themselves are based on urban legend.

I use urban legend in the sense that like half the time it comes up in medical shows they go "OH MY GOD YOU'RE GROWING ANOTHER PERSON WE HAVE TO GET IT OUT." That's not what it is and people need to stop spreading misinformation because clearly it's spreading to people like the devs.

  • @Hoodied said:

    Its a skin name....

    It's an incorrect skin name.

  • There was already an unlisted effect on it, when you're downed with it, all sounds are muffled by like 75%, so it's very difficult to tell how close the killer is anyway.

  • Probably not enough people dumping money into buying levels. Gotta make it harder for us to finish it.

  • @adsads123123123123 said:

Thanks for this post, I was playing the idea to make one.

It's just such a pain to see people call the linked comsetics legendaries.

I personally have nothing against linked cosmetics as they seem to look better than unlinked ones so far. And people saying these will be the only cosmetics they'll release... only 2 sets of the greeks collection are linked, 3 if you include Minotaur Oni.

A thing that bothers me though, is the fact that the weapons are linked aswell because they seem like they would fit with every other cosmetics.

Exactly. They'd get a TONNE less backlash on these sets if they only linked what needed to be linked. Take 5 mins to whack a shaved texture on the back of Nea's head and link the clothes with their higher waist line.

Link the Clown's body so that fat neck works, but unlink the weapon.

Just trying to force people to pay full price for ######### they don't want is what's pissing everyone off with these releases. It's that there's thing we DO want, but we aren't paying 3 times the price and then lacking the functionality existing stuff has.

  • I watched one today start revving as someone Sprint Bursted away from him. He caught up and downed them in that one swing, only had 1 movement speed add on. That was sad.

  • I don't know about FPS, but every time I'm running injured it's like the camera's zooming in and out, it's making me ######### motion sick every single game.
