  • I will never agree that camping and tunnelling are legitimate strategies to win, but ultimately everyone is free to play however they wish and I'm no one to tell you what's right and what's wrong.

I just hope they eventually get teams that demolish them so they get a taste of what it feels like to ruin the gameplay of other players.

  • Reading this entire thread made me feels less lonely when that happens to me. I check my perks and loadout, click ready and then when it's more than a few minutes I start doing something else and only comeback when I get the sound from the match starting, haha.

  • I am looking forward to them so see what kind of effects they can have. I'm a bit on the fence on the fact they do QoL changes to previous perks so there is a chance that they may turn some older perks into Boon totems, but I hope that's not the case... I personally don't see any Survivor perk having an effect that should give it the Boon treatment for it to be fair. I think Boon totems should grant some sort of passive abilities to Survivors, but we shall see.

In the other hand, I do see some Hook-related perks for Killers becoming feasible if they are turned into Scourge Hook.

  • I will personally never say GG if a Killer needs to camp, tunnel or slug to get kills.

I have complimented Killers that have honestly outdone me in fair matches. You got me in a corner I was not expecting, that was wonderful, we ended up both messing you and I was caught, that was nice, I ended up enjoying the match even if I loss, great game, I hope to find more players like them. In some games, some very silly things have happened and I end up laughing with the Killer about it... like either of us falling into a hole, I ending up jumping onto them... them throwing something at me and hitting someone else we didn't even know was there.

I just suppose some people are so obsessed with winning every game that they forget this is, effectively, a game.

  • To be fair, that waistcoat/shirt is really tight on him... for extra thiccness you should try it with the Montreal outfit.

  • To be fair, people say that of every Killer at their release...

  • As a Deathslinger main, who on their sane judgment runs Tinkerer on him?

I am by no means a great slinger, but bloody hell... with his low mobility it's a pointless perk to run on him.

  • As a Deathslinger main, I pretty much just use his default or Rare cosmetics. I have only gotten his Oxen Bounty cosmetic for the Lunar Year Event because I thought it looked neat, but he's had it rough with Cosmetics since release and nothing really stands out to me or makes me go "I WANT THAT". I think the Tombstone set is interesting, just the bald head is a no for me.

  • I guess location lock also helps a little. In my case, for every 10 matches, I face 8 campers. The other two are wildcards, either I get a normal match or a sweaty one.

  • Two matches yesterday, I had NOED spawn in that specific totem and it was lovely...

  • Possibly around 50 minutes to one hour.

Three generator situation in Haddonfield. They had spawned around one of the houses, one in front, one inside and one behind in a perfect straight line and I was playing my good old Deathslinger. After I killed two of them, the other two... a Nancy and a Claudette played hide and seek for the rest of the match.

Had they not made me waste so much time I'd have considered giving the last one hatch, but nope. To the hook both went after I managed to find them.

  • One of the interesting things I see in threads like this is how immediately the response is to say "sweaty SWFs" like I've been accused of playing with friends when SoloQ just because I get competent teammates that actually do things while I'm on a chase... but then I don't like to sweat in matches and just sigh when I end up being camped for no reason.

Not that long ago, I was tunnelled by a Killer right off the start of the match and I asked why and he said I quote "You should run DS, UB, BT and DH if you don't want to be tunnelled, baby Survivor" which I find amusing because I don't have the need to sweat matches.

My argument will always be the same... I don't care if I survive the match, I just want to actually get to play.

If you have spirit then just use rancor and hunt the obsession at the end.

Alternatively, you can use an Obsession focused build with Rancor and either Furtive Chase or Nemesis, but admittedly those challenges are not fun and do encourage tunnelling instead of happening organically like others do.

I just come from hours of frustration from trying to finish the No Mither, No Problem challenge from a previous tome. I was tunnelled in all my matches until I managed to get out in one by bloody miracle. I don't know who in BHVR is in charge of those, but I dread ever using that perk ever again.

  • Well, technically Ace Visconti is Latino. He was born in Argentina, but has Italian ancestry for the most part. But your point still stands, he was released even before Adam.

  • To be fair, a lot of addons across all Killers are like this.

The greatest example is how some Iridescent add-ons in Killers are absolutely useless and in others are God-tier.

  • It depends a lot. In my experience at least, I hadn't gotten that many "sweaty" matches. As Survivor in SoloQ, I get a plethora of people... sometimes I get really good and competent teammates others I get very bad teammates. In matters of Killers, I get paired, usually with Killers around my skill level with some ups and downs. I've gotten more than a couple matches with all meta-perks, add-ons which pretty much end up decimating my teammates and me, but I hadn't gotten my main complaint about MMR which was dealing Nurse, Blight, Oni or Spirit players that would slug everyone within 30 seconds. Despite the matches, even the "sweaty" matches, I've gotten to actually get to do something in most of my games which is what I wanted and am grateful for. Reiterating, I don't care if I survive or not, I just don't want to end matches with less than 5k of points.

As Killer, I'd like to first say I am by no means amazing, I keep getting varies skill levels too. Often very bad survivors teamed up with great Survivors, despite that I hadn't gotten any "SWFs Death Squads" either and I see it as an improvement because, again, I don't care about getting 4-kills every match, but the game feeling dynamic and me getting to be able to do something in most trials.

Just for the record, in the previous system, I was purple-red as Survivor and green as Killer.

  • In order for this map to be Killer sided, it'd mean all Killers overperform in it, but it's very situational and RNG dependent for most Killers to have a smooth match in it. As some pointed out, Killers like Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Trickster, etc. have an incredible advantage on it, but others like Trapper, Doctor, Clown, Legion... will probably find themselves in tight spots.

  • As Killer, when it comes to disconnections, the context is usually important. If it was a legit accidental disconnection right off the start, I try to give everyone else two hooks and then let them escape. If it was a disconnection because someone got petty or thought they were too good and I downed them in less than thirty seconds then I just play normally -- like I'm sorry your teammate lacked spine and was too cocky to admit they were outplayed, but they just decided to give me an advantage for no reason at all.

As Survivor, I'm kind of forced to play normally and hope the Killer doesn't decide to decimate the rest of us -- especially if it happens at the very first few minutes of the match.

This is what has happened to me too.

First 4-5 matches were decent. Now? "Red" (Iridescent?) rank Killers, CONSTANT camping and tunneling. Constant. I just gave up today because it's so bloody annoying. So much BM, Idk why it's happening.

I mean in SBMM the colour of the rank doesn't particularly matter. I'm just assuming they managed to climb up due to how the SBMM seems to work. I played a few more rounds and it seems to be a general thing, I keep getting campers or people that play normally then decide to camp after two or three generators have been done so it's a bit weird, but then I get normal matches again...

My general thing is that, despite the camping, I get to actually play in most of my matches which I'm grateful for.

  • The Charm is exclusive to people buying the Chapter via your platform store. Buying Pinhead via DBD store with auric cells won't grant it.

  • As Survivors, my matches have been rather chaotically impaired. For the first couple of matches, I got competent teammates... then, I'd get people that barely stand on the game, but at least 70% of my matches have been against camping Killers for some ungodly reason.

As Killer, I get rainbows on Survivors, no death squads or anything of the like, but I get very bad Survivors teamed up with great Survivors.

  • It just censors things based on context rather than random words, but generally, the filter seems to be working at random.

Last night, I had a match where the Killer decided to camp a Jane (all generators were done and both doors were 99d) so we were trying to unhook her because she had played well. It failed and she died in hook so in the after-game chat, I typed "You played so well, I'm so sorry it had to end like this" and for whatever reason the filter censored it.

You have already and ill answer again using an extract from David's tome lore.

"His ex has moved on and she doesn't want to see his face."

How would I add on lgbt+ representation? "His ex has moved on and he doesn't want to see his face."

    Bam.

The character of David King is almost identical- he fought back against his abusive father, was forced to work as a debt collector, has serious anger issues and is a chronic alcoholic in London ever since being thrown off the rugby team. And yet it is definitive LGBT+ representation of at least bisexuality/pansexuality.

You don't even need a clause of "He always knew he'd liked boys" which makes it specifically mlm (men loving men) rep, you can leave it open to be interpreted in whichever way you want, provided it is canon he was in a same-sex relationship and it is implied he still has feelings for the partner.

For trans representation, this I don't know much about. I'm cisgendered and won't pretend to know what I'm talking about on the subject- sorry.

There's another form of representation though, which could also be added in with very little effort needed. Instead of using the pronouns "he/him" or "she/her" to describe someone, use "they/them".

Again, I'm going to use David's lore as an example because it's the one I currently have on hand, but

"His ex has moved on and they don't want to see his face again".

There's also the version of using multiple pronouns (genderfluid) though from reading the forums half of the community would throw a tantrum instead of trying to understand.

If you would like an example of a game that does this very well, look at Apex Legends.

I think the general consensus, as I myself am an LGBT+ person, is that we want a character that's not defined by their sexuality and rather has a compelling storyline that's more than the "I'm LGBT+" line. Literally, low effort changes like the ones you listed her gives us representation to an extent because it leaves out the possibility of us making the character as we wish them to be.

The main issue we encounter in most media is the vilification of LGBT+ people. A gay character is often portrayed as unstable, jumping from relationship to relationship and being unnecessary cruel and mean to other characters, a lesbian character is often portrayed as tough, man-hating, cruel and vindictive... or they fall into what we call token stereotypes where the main woman's best friend is gay and he gives her advice, but it never goes further than that, dead lesbian who is the centre of some mystery and becomes a source of pain to straight characters. The point in general is we are more than just a stereotype to make fun of or a tragedy to mourn.

    I thank you for them @adirgeforthedead !

I'm happy to help. I hope they find a way to patch it up because it seems extremely annoying.

I hadn't experienced it myself, but I was reading some info on the bugs and saw it in a different thread.

  • OK. It says to click the buy button go to the Steam page of the DLC click buy and then back out, it will register you have the DLC already in your library and you should be able to use them again.

  • For what I've seen commented it's a bug caused by buying bundles.

One of the technical assistants posted a series of steps to follow to solve it, let me see if I can find it.

  • @Guertena said:

It's really good, was he the only legendary skin to receive a new voice? (excluding Chris and Claire)

Currently, yes. There is a conjecture that Lisa and Cybil may receive their own voices in the next midchapter because Cheryl is, presumably, getting a new Legendary cosmetic.

  • As I belong to the generation prior to Twitch becoming popular, my mind immediately goes to the twitchy palms memes that people used to do about the 50SoG books and I don't automatically associate it with Twitch, but I suppose I can why some people would think that.

  • A PC Blight is a terrifying thing to face.

  • I just got off of my first matches as SoloQ Survivor and Killer respectively and here is my experience. I would like to say I'm mostly Survivor, but I don't sweat matches. Playing Killer always triggers my anxiety for reasons so I do it occasionally, but I'm not a potato Killer.

As Survivor, my team was pretty neatly set and they were competent enough. We matched against a Spirit and all of them could last enough in a chase to get a generator done. I wasn't hooked and neither was another played, but the Spirit hooked the same player twice and another player took the aggro from him when it seemed the Spirit was going to tunnel him. It was an interesting match although I, personally, feel we sort of bullied the Spirit (which is not a sentence I thought I'd ever use).

As Killer, I play Deathslinger, and I got Mother's Dwelling. I didn't decimate the team, but they didn't get much done either... no tunnel, no camp, I ended up slugging a player that ran into my arms after being unhooked and I was chasing someone else. A single generator got done and then they snowballed in. Only one player managed to escape through hatch (it seems they were camping it and waiting for it since it was instantly) because I don't slug for the 4k. I am by no means a very talented Killer, but I felt I was paired with new people? Everyone seemed to be silver except for the one that escaped that was iridescent.

  • I mean... that's what SBMM is arguably for and it was just implemented today.

i thought i was far too aggressive ngl + they really didnt wanna listen

I agree. As an LGBT+ person, I always have trouble putting my thoughts into coherent words because a part of me is wired to try to understand why this is an argument in the first place and then come to realise no matter how hard I try there is people always willing to go to the tangent to find a way to disagree. Nevertheless, I'm really glad to see some of you here and I feel more understood and I wish I could show more appreciation.

  • Well, Deathslinger is a Killer that is mostly dependant of his power and it should be your major focus to win games. I main him, but I'm by no means an incredible Deathslinger, but I run BBQ & Chili, Corrupt Intervention, Monitor & Abuse and Pop Goes The Weasel. You can also alternate some of these perks with the Thrilling Tremors, Surge and Save The Best for Last to adapt better to your game style.

I am an defiant enemy of using Hex perks since they tend to be cleansed within 30 seconds in my matches and with Deathslinger having low mobility is difficult to go back and forth to defend them in tough spots especially in large or complex maps.

Ohh so they were persons before.the birch and mordeo okay but look see a person before? How?

That is... actually a very good question.

  • This thread got a bit funny since we just had the Deliverance tome tackle down why representation matters for minority groups and there are a lot of works that speak about this issue. Whether it is a race, sexual orientation or even gender.

I'm just sometimes a bit impressed how tone deaf some people can be because they aren't subjected to discriminatory practices on the daily basis, but I believe one way or another at least some people are reading through and getting to understand the core of the issue isn't Dead By Daylight, but a more complex and intrinsic problem with society.

To be honest, Jill and Chris are much closer than Jill and Carlos could ever be.

I am not disagreeing with you, but it just feels a bit strange after playing RE2 and RE3 back to back to see Leon and Claire, but not Jill and Carlos.

Is Chris more important and relevant to the saga than Carlos? Absolutely. Do I still think we should get a Carlos skin? I don't see why not.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

    Carlos all the way.

Yes, please. I still feel robbed we have Leon and Claire, but not Jill and Carlos.

  • I surely hope so. After the model rework, Lisa and Cybil do feel like completely different characters when compared to Cheryl. It's the same for Chris, Claire and Jonathan and I'm so happy to see the latter get his own voice.

I'm just waiting for their new voices and the portraits on the selection screen. Hopefully in the next midchapter since Cheryl is, arguably, getting another Legendary skin.

i think it was just a little bit of pandering cause the canon story and lore doesn't add up at all.

I am not disagreeing with you because I don't know much or have the context about any of their productions, but I was just pointing out CryptTV did write that. If you scroll a bit up, you will see the conversation where they point out Look-See is pansexual and the Mordeo is Genderqueer although I believe they are talking about the Mordeo in general and not the Queen.

hmm i dont think they did or if they did that makes no sense. birch had a baby witch unfortunately trans women cant do. and i cant find anywhere about the look-see or mordeo queen, key word queen. they did makea pin to celebrate the pride but the only lgbt character i can think of from crypt are Daisy and Alaska

    https://twitter.com/CryptTV/status/1387890357816291329

Nevertheless, I'd like to point out I do not know the details, I hadn't watched their shows or know much from them.

What are you talking about? It's a demon/angel from hell/heaven. Did someone unironically listen to the mortally challenged line from Doom Eternal and start including interdimensional monsters as a minority group??

As I am not familiar with the comics, I don't know for certain what OP is talking about, but the Cenobites are considered demons/angels by most people although in their own lore they used to be humans that were transformed through a torturous transformation ritual.

If i rember correctly the birch is a straight women. i dont know much about looksee lore tho

CryptTV posted something when addressing LGBT+ in June and said that, if I recall correctly, The Birch Witch was transgender, The Look-See was pansexual and The Mordeo was Genderqueer. I don't remember the details whatsoever.

Edit: I went to revise and corrected some misinformation.

  • Freddy being stunned by Dream Pallets is a bug. It's listed as a known issue in the patch notes.

Don't panic, Freddy is as broken as he's always been... this will certainly be addressed in the next hotfix.

  • Personally, I believe people who do this don't know or understand much of Amanda's mechanics to slow down and detriment the game and are, possibly, playing her for a Tome Challenge or a Daily Ritual.

The idea of Reverse Bear Traps as most people have pointed out is to pressure Survivors to unlock their traps and slow down generators progress. In more than one occasion, I've faced Pigs that decided to solely focus on the Survivor they've put a trap on and end up getting two or three generators done in that process and it's a bit... well, confusing. A Pig that slugs the Survivor with the trap on is usually an incidental one... in more than one occasion, they just end up running into the chasing someone else and well, it's forcing people to pick them up which adds extra pressure, but yes, tunnelling is just a waste of her power and abilities.

  • I have done what I call "Hexes" build which is running four hexes: Devour Hope, Haunted Ground, Retribution and Undying. Good teams will see more than one totem lit and not cleanse it right away until they figure out what it is. There are good chances Haunted Ground will get cleansed first plus Retribution you will see where everyone is for ten seconds and they'll be Exposed for 60 seconds. If you manage to get one or two downs, you can easily disorganise teams.

General problem is... some teams will dispatch totems rather fast and you may end up perkless.

The very times I've used it, the teams were able to cleanse two totems usually both Haunted Ground because of Undying. In one of the instances, they managed to cleanse a third one, but in both cases it was luckily Retribution.

  • I don't hate Wraith as a Killer or even think he is boring to face when playing Survivor, but my major issue is that a good portion of them decide to camp/tunnel. In some rarer occurrences, I'd face the All-Seeing Wraith that makes the games infuriatingly slow and tedious. I did think and believe Wraith needed a buff, but now I think he needs an add-on revisit.

Nothing can be done about camping/tunnelling because most main Killers here will say "THE DEVS SAID IT'S A LEGIT STRATEGY" so it's pointless to complaint.

  • It's not Claudette herself as a character what's hated, but how certain players use her.

I don't mind her when I see her my lobbies, but I have gotten more than a few that have been... nefarious to say the least.

  • "Off the Hook and Sabotage" sounds like someone used Breakdown on you (or the combination of Deliverance and Breakdown more likely). I mean I don't blame you for not knowing, it's rare to see people running it.

  • For Survivor, a Carlos Oliveira Legendary skin for Leon. He's been my favourite character in the whole RE series and I feel robbed we have Leon and Claire, but not Jill and Carlos.

For Killer, literally anything worth buying for Deathslinger. My man has had it rough with cosmetics since release and he deserves some love in that aspect...

  • Clock Tower, hands down.

One of the original survival horror games back when they were only point and click.

A lot of rich and interesting lore surrounding it too.
