  • COH was just touched so I don't think it is getting another change soon-ish. I am a bit on the fence in regards of perk changes unless some elements of the core game are touched... like yes, DH is annoying, but Survivors are in the 50/50 spectrum between escaping and being sacrificed.

  • I think I've only ever played against @Sluzzy that I can remember out of the top of my head. They were pretty fair despite getting Lery's Memorial as the map while playing The Blight.

I don't think they saw my comment after the match where I said I was not expecting to go after the legendary Sluzzy. In DBD, I appear as "Caballero Fantasma" because "A Dirge for the Dead" cuts off and it gives me OCD.

  • I find this hilarious because half of the time, my SoloQ experience is me getting chases for interesting periods of time and my teammates doing absolutely nothing. Or, when I play Killer, Survivors just keep trying to body-block or blind me. I hadn't gotten gen-rushed in a while...

  • It depends a lot on the maps. I sure as hell cannot see to save my life in new Autohaven Wrecker and Blackwater Swamp up the point any Claudette is guaranteed a escape when I get those as Killer. I'd rather have a mixture with lighting darkness than overly dark maps.

  • My only advice would be to slug and let them bleed out. Not that long ago, I had a match where I faced three Boil Overs, three Dead Hards, three Breakouts, two Saboteurs and a Circle of Healing with the Sweat Squad bringing an offering for The Game.

I had to end up slugging the four of them and letting them bleed out because there was no possible way of getting them hooked -- especially as bloody Deathslinger in that horrid map. If they want a torturous match, give it to them.

He's had it rough in general. I'm more concerned about having him be more than somewhat playable than outfits...

Agreed. I already made peace with the fact BHVR doesn't care about Deathslinger.

  • Please. Also literally anything for Deathslinger at this point, my boy has had it rough with skins...

  • RE3 Remake Carlos Oliveira as a Legendary skin. I continue to feel robbed that we have Leon and Claire, but not Jill and Carlos.

  • In my experience, I'd say at least 1 out of 10 matches lately. There are just some matches that feel really unnatural to me in some aspects that really make me believe the Killer is using some hacking to their advantage. I have enough game sense to know a few things about getting lucky or me making a mistake that is convenient to the Killer, but there are some matches where the Killer seemingly always knows where everyone is, regardless of distance for BBQ or other aura reading perks.

I just had a match yesterday against a Huntress that would know exactly where I was going to turn in every tall-loop and had the hatchet ready in every instance with almost no wind-up time. My initial guess was that they were running I'm All Ears with wind-up decrease add-ons, but surprise, they had neither. The most blatant thing was they running exactly to the locker were I was despite entering before they hooked the Survivor they were carrying and claiming they just "guessed".

Also Pinheads knowing exactly where the box is all the time is a common one for me. I encounter it in at least 1 of every 3 Pinheads I face.

It's hard to tell for sure. The matches just simply feel unnatural.

  • The saddest part is that you are talking about obvious cheaters.

I am pretty sure I face subtle cheaters every couple of games considering how some of my latest matches have gone...

  • I have mentioned this in a few threads because generally people seem to think the argument is Killer vs Survivor though generally both sides have the potential to be toxic not only to opposite team, but also to their teammates. It is often difficult to notice a Survivor being toxic to other Survivors when playing Killer, but it's more common than what people give credit for.

I do believe the generalisation that "all SWFs" are toxic is wrong. I've encountered more than a few that are pretty wholesome or have the mentality of teamwork and help SoloQs, etc. and I've also encountered similar experiences to yours, OP.

  • As some people in here have commented, Deathslinger needs changes to compensate for what he lost during this "re-balancing". Personally, I always felt he was "fine" prior to his nerf and people were just making a big deal out of him because not many used him. Henceforth, people weren't sure about how to exactly counter him. I say this roughly because I recognise he needed changes, but these were not it.

Alas, I have commented I do believe reducing his terror radius to 28 meters could be an interesting change. I liked the stealth aspect of Deathslinger when compared against other ranged-killers. An alternative could be adding a subtle lullaby like that of Trickster's that slowly blends into his terror radius like a far-off whistle ala Western or the sound of rattle snakes where people are given an audible cue that he is nearby while not being flat-out obvious.

I'm always on the fence about the ADS because... the reason quick-scope was needed was because the ADS mechanic is horrible. My current view would be to decrease the time it takes to enter ADS and increase the time it takes to exit it. Therefore, forcing the player to comit to shots. It'd reward the player for taking risky shots while also punishing them for failing them while not being too overly taxing. In its current state, it needs some serious work because sensibility keeps messing up big time when committing to ADS, add small hitboxes, server latency, etc, to it and it's just a cocktail for disaster and why Deathslinger feels clunky and frustrating to play as.

Other points do include addressing his reload speed and maybe lessening the stun after being unable to land a hit when a Survivor is chained.

I feel the comparison to Nemesis is a tad unfair. Nemesis has his zombies to apply pressure for him. But if we are talking strictly power-based, Nemesis can extend his range by hitting Survivors with his tentacle strike, Deathslinger is fixed and cannot be extended by any means. Additionally, Nemesis can hit Survivors through pallets and vaults, Deathslinger is not guaranteed a hit even if he does spear a Survivor through a vault or a pallet. Finally, failing a spearing as Deathslinger includes both a stun and the reload time.

I've been maining Deathslinger for over a year since I bought him back in December of 2020 during the Winter sale. I enjoyed playing as him because I loved the chaotic aspects he brought where people would constantly run into me due to the small terror radius and his unpredictability. I was able to secure two kills without having to sweat and now, I need to sweat, to get similar results that makes it such an stressing and unfun experience.

  • Depending on how you play Bond or Empathy could be useful for information so you know what your teammates are doing. Spine Chill is also useful in some situations. If you are already running Small Game, you can pair it up with Inner Strength/Inner Healing.

  • @Heartbound said:

Playing for hooks is more fun and lowers your MMR so you're also playing with people that play for fun.

Personally I see it as an absolute win.

I wish this was true... I've done nothing, but play fair for hooks and I get sweat squad after sweat squad.I've even gone AFK for more than a few matches... and still I keep getting paired with people whose whole intention is to make the matches as insufferable as possible.

  • There are issues in the game design although I have no smart or meaningful commentaries. For the current time, I am dedicating most, if not all, my time as a Survivor player because Killer is really intolerable and impossible to play as.

Ever since the nerf for Deathslinger who I had been maining for more than a year, I am unable to even get a single kill in most games and I don't like to rely on camping or tunnelling, but it's hopeless gameplay most of the time. My MMR is not even that high, I rarely got more than two kills because I didn't like to try-hard in all my games and still only get full 4-man death squads.

  • Three things, majorly.

    1. The nerf to Deathslinger who is my main Killer.
    2. MMR.
    3. Toxicity, which I expected MMR would solve...and it aggravated it instead.

I still play Killer occasionally if I get a daily for Deathslinger or an interesting challenge in the tomes that I feel like doing, but I'm likely to go AFK if I end up getting a sweat squad which MMR tends to give me more often than whatnot for some reason.

    Clock tower

I keep thinking about this. Since BHVR already got a collaboration with Capcom, it is possible to happen, but due to BHVR's policies, I'm having a bit of a problem figuring it how.

I mean... arguably, it'd have to be based around the 1996 game which features a 15 year old Jennifer. Bobby and Dan being 8-10 may be a problem, but I suppose they can alter sequences to make it match like they did with Silent Hill and Cheryl where an adult Jennifer perhaps re-encounters the evils from her past at some degree. At least, I'd think Clock Tower and Clock Tower: The First Fear are the most iconic games of the saga since Clock Tower: Ghost Head went unnoticed and everyone hated Clock Tower 3.

Another possibility akin to it may be a chapter based off of Demento or, in its defect, Clock Tower's spiritual successor Remothered.

  • I main Jake and Felix so I've been alternating between their pyjamas and sweaters since late November.

I wish Caleb had something for the Holidays or Winter-themed.

  • Killer: NOED and Ruin. I tend to not run hexes in my builds lest I am going for an hex-build.

Survivor: Dead Hard, Unbreakable and Decisive Strike. They've always been very situational perks to me rather than things I find myself using in every match.

  • I don't want to say "I told you so", but I did predict she'd become the new Spirit in that regard... granted I do think with the change they made from the PTB to live she is fine and doesn't need any further nerfs. Perhaps, only making it so she can't go from cancelling a set to an M1 right away, but anyone with a brain would know to switch loops when she is setting.

In her current state, she doesn't seem too oppressive and I enjoy playing against her.

  • Same. I started playing DBD shortly after the last section of that tome opened and I only got to Tier 20-something.

  • I am waiting for the other cowboy outfit. It's been almost a year and a half.

  • Countless times I've been accused of playing SWF just for getting a decent team of Solos who actually do things while I'm on a chase. A slightly coordinated team those not mean they are all playing together just that they have enough skill to remain focused.

But in most cases SWFs teams are pretty obvious.

  • I think it's a bit of a complex issue. Before SBMM, I'd have said they weren't because by extending repairing time or buffing regression, you'd make the strong Killers even stronger and create a whole new different kind of problem making Killers like Blight, Nurse, Spirit and Oni practically invincible.

Now, I stand more at a neutral ground as I see Killers struggle in general against coordinated teams (and by coordinated, I don't mean SWF, just people who actually do stuff when someone is on a chase). I'm not sure if increasing the time or the regression percent would solve this or if the Killers just need more tools in their arsenal to solve this.

  • I am glad they addressed my major complaint from the PTB. The way she could just close loops with it was absurd if I am honest. Additionally with spawning multiple dire crows. Now, it has some valid counterplay and reaction time that can make for some interesting and critical interactions between The Artist and Survivors.

My only other complaint was (besides the full-map wide range for swarm), the way she could cancel a set and go for an M1. Other Killers had been nerfed for less, but I'd like to see her performance with this change before they set up other changes.

Needless to say, this was a healthy change for once after such a long string of horrible decisions.

Lullaby is often worse than TR, because you can't get rid of it. Depends if it is like Huntress (loud) or Trickster (silent)...

Quick-scape should have never been nerfed. That was main thing that made him unique compare to other ranged killers. They should just nerf ADS fake and it would be fine.

Like what is reason he shouldn't have that? He has limitations that other ranged killers don't. Probably worst is: he can't down over most pallets.

Then there is just long list why he is worse Huntress...

I think it'd be fine if his lullaby was just the sound of the rattlesnakes right off the very beginning of his terror radius. Besides that I agree with you in everything else. Quick-scope was his unique feature which rewarded you for trying risky shots and received an equal punishment for failing. I'd be fine if they even extended the time it takes to exit ADS because it was absurd how easily you could cancel ADS to go for an M1.

In his current state, Deathslinger really feels hopeless in safe loops and he has very little on his favour. I will never understand the decision behind these changes... he wasn't strong in most situations and large maps were horrible for him. People hated zoning and he is now completely dependant on zoning and bloody sensitivity makes him so insufferable to play as.

  • I think your first suggestion could use a tweak or a condition about the Killer staying near the hook while they are not in a chase. Dozens of times I hadn't been rescued from the hook not because the Killer was deliberately camping, but because teammates were bad enough to loop the Killer in the proximities of where I was hooked and that's, without a doubt, not fault of the Killer. With that specific condition you do punish hardcore camping without making it insufferable for Killers who are trying to play fair.

The second suggestion for tunnelling seems quite... extreme. I don't believe there is an objectively good way of solving tunnelling because there are one too many details to take in consideration. Sometimes the unhooker just abandons the unhooked in the area. Others it's terribly bad luck. There are, indeed, cases where the Killer is hardcore tunnelling, but I don't see a way any mechanic can be implemented to solve it efficiently without it being abusable.

I don't have a complaint or suggestion in your idea about totems. That seems like an interesting change that could work and solve some issues with RNG.

  • @tenoresax said:

It's amazing how bhvr has made the same mistake when nerfing a killer basically 3 times in a row now.

They have nerfed Pyramid Head, Twins and Deathslinger all in such a way that it doesn't really affect their performance, it just makes them feel more like ######### to play.

The rather hilarious and sad part of this is that they did not address the main complaint Survivors had in most occasions. The major one for Deathslinger was zoning and now they made him entirely dependant on zoning.

  • For me, it depends a lot on the match itself. Most people use GG as a means of taunting rather than the match being fun or good in any way or shape. I know some Killers struggle to get Kills or get really bad maps/situations or, as a Survivor, I end up with teammates that are so toxic to the poor player and still say "GG" at the end and I am all "Please, just no". Or Killers who say GG after camping or tunnelling Survivor players are really despicable people to me.

I only ever say GG when it was a genuinely fun match for both sides were a lot of silly things happen. It's rare, but it does happen.

  • I still play my good ol' Deathslinger... despite the nerfs I don't have the heart to let it go (and my brain is like super wired to play as him), but with this and the state of MMR that insist in giving death squads I only play Killer once in a blue moon because it's such a painful and nefarious experience to play as him...

  • My issue with NOED is not the intended use of it. People will always argue Survivors have a lot of "second chance" perks and that NOED fits that for the Killer side which is, for me, a valid argument and it can be prevented by doing totems at par with generators.

I complaint of the rather specific situations where the Killer is willingly throwing the match off by camping or tunnelling so other players, SWFs or not, are forced to gen-rush as a means of "punishing" the Killer for camping or tunnelling and despite that they still get hit with NOED.

I wouldn't ask for NOED to be nerfed because it's intended use is to give Killers another chance at winning an otherwise lost match, but I do believe these scummy tactics need to be looked into because, in its current state, NOED does indeed reward poor gameplay Killers.

  • My guess is that you bought a bundle of characters recently. There is a known issue that has been, presumably, patched that solved this. The means to solve it was, if I recall correctly, to go through the buying process in your platform again and then cancel before paying so the game "registers" that you own the DLC which should be in your library.

  • In her current state, she is very strong and I believe she requires some tweaks here and there to be in a healthier position. Otherwise, I imagine she will turn into the new Spirit that will make people DC on the first chase. I have been playing for a bit over a year and I have never said I consider a Killer to be too strong on release, but I do make the announcement with this one.

I find absurd how she can down people from across whole sets of structures (it happened to me ridiculously often) and how she can cancel a set to go for a M1 in less than a second or even do a setting and go for an M1. Idle crow-heads should also not cause damage when a Survivor passes by, I'm all in for giving a Survivor the flock, but taking a health state is ridiculous.

  • I think all Killers have the potential of turning out to be campers when the match tilts in certain way that does not favour them, but that's just core mechanics allowing it.

Camping as in, hardcore camping, which is just staying by the hook and preventing anyone from doing the rescue is something I've only ever seen Bubba players do in a regular basis. In a secondary, lesser likely, positions are a tie between Wraith and Twins and, in a third place, I'd probably say Trickster and Hag.

Other special mentions are basement camping builds for Trapper and Hag, but they are another thing and I don't run into them quite often, thankfully.

  • To be honest, all the nerf did was remove her capacity of "mind gaming" by standing still which was the major complaint of Survivors across all ranks. She still retains her capacities for pressure, movement and tracking. She wasn't bad by any means, but it makes is possible to perform better guesses on where she is teleporting and react. I think she is at a healthy spot with having advantages and weaknesses that level each other.

  • I decided to try the PTB for a day and played as much as I could, but I do have to agree the Artist is very strong in her current state in the PTB and could use some tweaks... in her current state, I expect her to become the new Spirit where people will just DC when facing her because there is no counter play to her spamming her power around loops and getting hits from across whole sets of structures. I don't think she is essentially overpowered, but she does need some changes.

In an unrelated note, I had the honour of facing @Sluzzy last night when I was on the main build.

  • If a Killer decides to camp or tunnel, it is their prerogative. I've learned to accept this as a faulty mechanic in the game. It doesn't change that it is detrimental to the gameplay of the person being camped or tunnelled and I will never agree in it being a legit tactic.

If you need it to win, so be it. I know sometimes getting kills for challenges is hard. I've struggled with them myself and I understand there are some instances where there isn't anything else to do. Once the gates are powered, everything goes for me. I understand it in some circumstances, but I won't respect Killer facecamping and tunnelling at 5 generators no matter the circumstances.

  • We never had gotten much lore about how Talbot captures Killers other than Trapper... he might have as well just zoomed onto him and give him the stabbies with the needle for what we know.

Since your a Slinger main, what are your opinions on his nerf? Haven’t gotten to hear an opinion from someone who does main him yet.

I've always said he needed some changes to improve his QoL state, but in my sincere opinion this was so much of an overkill. I understand some frustrations Survivor mains had though, in retrospective, the reason nobody knew how to counter him was because not many people used him. He had an overall pickup rate of 6% (this was according to some data they released before the release of the All-Kill Chapter) which, in contrast, Huntress had about 30%.

I agree he needed a cooldown on cancelling ADS because it was so absurdly easy to just cancel your power and go for an M1 and I feel forcing players to commit to the ADS animation was an OKish addition, but doubling the time to do wasn't... it feels really sluggish which, added to the sensitivity increased the overall difficulty to play him far too much to make him enjoyable. Now, you are being forced to do zoning. If they intended to make it this way, I feel his stun should be reduced further...

However, the worst addition was the 32m terror radius. I didn't use Monitor and Abuse before, but now I feel forced to do in every match because most Survivors will run into the closest loop at the faintest hint of the terror radius and with his reduced mobility he is difficult to catch onto them in most maps. I am slowly getting the hang of mindgaming shoots here and there, but it's painful. If anything, I think they should've fixed it to 28m instead.

Overall, he still has a strong 1v1. In that aspect, he isn't hopeless, but if I intend to get kills into a match I am forced to tunnel someone early on and I so don't enjoy doing that. Therefore, I'm stuck in giving 5 hooks.

  • @Labrac said:

I want to play her, but infinite loading and DCs don't help. For some reason people still DC on the first down against her.

As a Deathslinger man, I feel the latter statement... I keep getting an unnatural amount of DCs even after his unnecessary nerf and it's like WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT??

  • I am tracking back in my previous posts about quitting Deathslinger. I am still playing him because I just can't let go of my boy who I've been maining for over a year now, but yes... he is a frustrating experience to play as.

I'm happy if I can get 4-5 hooks now per match and call it a day, but I will still daydream of the time where I could get 2 kills without try-harding. I am also frustrated with the fact I must run Monitor & Abuse to be able to get hits because otherwise is hopeless to even try to reach for Survivors who will have more than enough time to run to the closest loop as soon as they hear a faint terror radius.

They definitely went out of their way to lower an already low tier Killer and make him another painful experience to even remotely touch. The best part out of all of this is the fact I keep getting a consistent DC in every single match despite the nerf. I guess full-time Survivor mains aren't happy with anything until it's nerfed to the ground.

  • In other circumstances, I'd agree with you, but during these events both teams turn extensively toxic towards one another. I've been trying to have normal games as Killer and I get nothing, but flashclickers and people who swarm up at me whenever I get a down and proceed to bully me. So, I can't blame Killers for wanting "easy" games too.

Whenever I get a DC, I try to play normal, but chances are another people will DC and all I can do is give the last person hatch or door depending.

You say show some empathy, well, you should try to play Killer during these events. Believe me when I say Survivors can be just as toxic.

  • Plague is at a "fine" state. I say this roughly because she has never been a strong Killer, but she isn't underwhelming either. Her buffs were long overdue in the last patch, but there isn't anything about her that it's overpowered in any sense. She just requires a different approach than other Killers.

Doctor himself is not OP. He has indeed a lot of advantages when compared with other Killers and his capacity of blocking loops by just pressing a button makes him really annoying, but that's a different thing than your argument. If anything, I am mostly irritated at every single Doctor using the exact same add-ons to make their trials as insufferable as possible, but that's add-ons, not the Killer.

Nevertheless, I'd never say either of them are overpowered or that they should be deleted. You just need to adapt to how their powers work and form a strategy based on that.

"where are these people when I play Survivor?? and Why do I keep getting these teams even with Killers I rarely use??"

Those are called SWF that use voice comms to abuse the game system.

It was a rhetorical question, but yes, you are painfully correct. I've always said events like this always bring the best out of this community...

  • I faced two yesterday (out of like thirty matches), but for some reason I've been getting a lot of Onis lately. I easily saw like thirteen yesterday.

  • I am not a Killer main, but I try to play the game for both roles. I dedicated the last couple of days to finish all Survivors challenges for this reason. I tried to get the Killer challenges done, but nope... I get one toxic team after another one, gen-rushed to oblivion, the Boon totems make it difficult to track people (although this is the least of my complaints) and then I get a down and I'm swarmed by Survivors with flashlights.

My questions are... where are these people when I play Survivor?? and Why do I keep getting these teams even with Killers I rarely use??

  • I've been trying to play as him for the challenges of the Halloween tome I was hoping my MMR would've dropped low enough to try different things, but nope. I keep getting 5-6 hooks per match and it's just so frustrating to play as him.

I'd like to denote I'm against camping and tunnelling so 5-6 hooks means to me generally one hook for everyone and possibly two for the weakest links of the team, so that makes him really unreliable for me to get Kills for the challenges.

I kind of want to learn how to play Trickster at this point...

  • As an occasional SoloQ nothing gives me more of a headache that running the Killer for solid 3 minutes while thinking to myself "A couple of generators will surely pop out in a few!" and the chase keeps prolonging. I go down and see my teammates crouching across the map doing absolutely nothing.

Nothing makes me want to leave the match faster than that.

  • As a former Deathslinger main, the major reason most players didn't know how to counter him was because no one played him. It was less that 6% pick up rate from all Killers.

I will always agree he needed changes, but this was just overkill. They took the few things that made him unique and gave him nothing in return.

1 2 3 4 5 … 8
