    The short version

He kicks ass and is tremendously fun to play.

    The long version

The Blight easily has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game. I'd argue that Nurse is a bit higher, but not by much. His power requires acute memory of all tilesets in the game, familiarity with your mouse DPI, and good reflexes.

This makes learning him quite a task. But my god if it isn't fun once you do. Here's a quick summary of what the Blight has going for, and against him.

    Strengths

    • Map Pressure

The most obvious of his strengths, the Blight moves at 230% movement speed while rushing. That's the same speed as Hillbilly's sprint. But unlike Hillbilly, Blight is not limited to going in a curved line. By "pin-balling" against obstacles you can cover a distance of up to 138 meters if you perfectly time and distance your rushes! This gives Blight the best mobility in the game par none.

Combine this with the relatively quick recharge of his power, and a decent amount of practise, the Blight becomes unwaveringly oppressive. Especially if combined with perks like BBQ, Surveillance, and any other perk that benefits from arriving at a location within seconds. If he's not chasing someone already he's going to start very soon.

    • Chase Potential

Although still susceptible to very tight loops, the Blight can shut down quite a lot of otherwise safe positions for survivors. Some of you might question how he can do this since you might think that his lunge is predictable and can't be easily controlled. Allow me to explain how this is not the case.

The Blight's lethal rush propels you in the direction you are looking. But while rushing you cannot look more than around 60% to the left or right. However, attacking out of a rush will push you in the direction you are attacking. Also remember that the lethal rush cannot hit walls and is exempt from the dreaded "aim dressing", allowing you to curve around obstacles and get hits.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to learn this skill. Especially since Blight has a very generous attack hitbox which can hit survivors who aren't even on your screen! Trust me, that thing puts Huntress's thrown mini-fridges to shame.

    • Strong add-ons

With the exception of his farming add-on, and the ones that increase slam duration, every single add-on the Blight has is good. I'm honestly hard pressed to say there's a best combination. He's got insta-downs, wallhacks, better steering, breaking pallets and walls with his face, and training wheels for when you're learning him. You really can't go wrong with any of these.

My personal favourite is a tie between the insta-down + reduced rush tokens, and stacked animal add-ons. Using both the blighted rat and the crow you can go up to a staggering 270% movement speed on your final rush! Survivors barely have a chance to register your terror radius before you're right on top of them.

    Weaknesses

    • M1 Perk Anti-synergy

This is my biggest problem with the Blight, not that I have many. His lethal rush does not count as a basic attack. Meaning that 2/3 of his perks don't work with his power, including every single other M1 perk in the game.

I'm not a fan of this design pattern at all. It just reinforces the incredibly stale meta of PTGW and BQQ since many killer perks have heavily discouraged use on most killers, (but not the most powerful killers in the game for some reason). Demogorgon, Pig and Legion all have the same problem and I wish the devs would stop giving new killers the same problem.

    • Indoor Maps

This point is very self-explanatory. But it's not as bad as people think. Lery's and The Game reduce the Blight's overall map presence since he has so many walls in-between gens. However, I've found that these maps offer much more use of his power at most loops. Especially running his ultra-rare add-on that allows him to quickly break pallets by rushing into them.

These maps do take some getting used to. But with enough experience on them a good Blight can still be just as effective.

    • His P3 looks bad

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V1SZQ5D9816L/p3-blight.jpg

    It needs waaaaay more blood.

    Summary

I'm really baffled by the community response to Blight so far. Many people claim that his power is useless at chases, calling him clunky, and some even have the sheer audacity to compare him to Legion in terms of power.

He has so many things going for him. Constant map pressure, good chase potential and good add-ons. But so many people just write him off because they haven't taken the time to learn him.

I've had at least 40+ games with him since his release, and although I typically don't like using antidotes, I've 4K'ed in 90% of those games. I know for a fact how strong he is and I hope this post has convinced you of the same.

Fix his terrible lunge and his crap addons and boom. Mid tier killer.

I've had nothing but nerfs to my main since I started playing and I've always waited for actual patch notes before passing judgement. It isn't that hard.

Why do you still stick with Pig? Her dash is ok, her stealth is terrible and her helmets are RNG based trash.

  • @Blindninja said:

I've been watching monto and other people play the blight and it seems like they are able to turn much more with a mouse and keyboard than I can with a controller. They are getting the kind of turning rate that I can only achieve by doubling up on the turning rate add ons.

Wasn't this a similar thing with the oni? Has anyone tested this?

Usually I just have to practice until I find myself comfortable with a controller when it comes to high skill cap killers.

However in some cases, such as Nurse and Blight, the gap between mouse/keyboard and controllers is astronomical.

As the title suggests, I wish killers would get some form of Emotes too. It would add a little more fun to the game and it can also be used to be friendly to other survivors too.

Something like a wave or weird dance emote or something like tf2 where killer and survivor do a joint emote. I dunno.

Basically something that let's killers and survivors have more fun with each other in those non serious matches.

Right now, the only one capable of properly trolling/having fun is ghostface so I would like the same sort of fun with other killers too with some sort of emotes :).

    Us killers have nodding already.

Oh and we also have teabagging as Ghostface and Pig

For those that have played solo survivor will know you will get randoms with the seemingly combined IQ of 3, regardless whether you're at rank 1 or at rank 20. You'll either get a baby Meg/Meghead wasting all the pallets in the first 20 seconds, or a Nea urban evading at the edge of the map.

When playing solo survivor how often do contemplate whether those kind of team mates are worth your altruism? Is it worth your time and effort to unhook them, when time could be better spent repairing a generator?

Because with the Meg who was wasting pallets, now she's on the hook, she's no longer able to waste anymore pallets. Which may mean there would be more pallets on the map for the rest of the team to use.

Also if the Nea gets hooked, again is she worth your time saving? As she's being as productive towards the team's goal of escaping whilst on the hook, than she would be off. In fact the killer had to spend time carrying her to hook, arguable she was most useful when getting hooked. If you do unhook her, she'll go to just go back to the edge of the map to urban evade.

Would it have been more beneficial to the team, to just leave on the hook and just gen rush?

The Meg and the Nea are just examples, however a lot of randoms do play like this. Which is okay and understandable when they are at rank 20, but not when they're at red ranks (or even purple ranks).

Although my opinions differ when I'm playing killer, as regardless if a survivor is a potato or not they can still repair generators.

    Comment your thoughts.

Usually SWF treat me as a free points farm instead of a teammate. So in cases of obvious SWF, and that theyve mistreated me already, Ill simply stay on gens, and ignore them.

    Context:

I know I still Suck at playing "The Blight", on my first few rounds as him I tried no Add Ons so I can feel how strong his Base Kit is and I get absolutely Rekt. His Power is hard to use on normal loops and Survivors tends to realize his Lethal Charge Lunge is so hard to pull so they just move to your side and you get past them.

After like 5 Trials I use this Brown Add On "Compound Seven", for those who don't know the Add On made you automatically look at the Survivor nearest to you on a 16 meters radius and would you LOOK AT IT, IT MADE NORMAL LOOPS Manageable! I wish this was Base Kit for him like how when you're playing "The Hag" after you teleport you automatically face the Survivor. I don't want another Killer like "The Demogorgon" that every trial I need to use the "Rat Liver" Add On on him.

Actually I disagree. All this addon does is make me face obstacles. I dont run it at all.

  • @wownicedeadhard said:

I don't know if he's the worst but his definitely one of the worst, and its not even his power (mostly) its how the maps are made; 80% of the time you get stuck on some random object. I've played around 8 hours of him 5 on PC and 3 on PS4 and honestly how did they expect console players to aim with him, they def need to add a sensitivity option on him. Also can y'all please keep the token mechanic constant? When Bubba uses a token the entire meter goes down and it has to recharge all the way to get a token back, but with Blight each section on the meter is a token, like what. anyway yeah he has compound 21 but hes still really bad. I see two solutions either they give him a rework or the fix all the map hitboxes.

Hes SOOO close to viability. Hes like two minor buffs away.

  • @AggressiveFTW said:

I just think we need a larger carnival area of The Clown's map, and they won't make a whole map with a carnival theme (because we already have one).

I think the whole gimmick was that it was originally Nurses map. Clown has no connection to Father Campbell OR the asylum. The reason the carnival area isnt bigger is because its just where Clown has set up shop. All that equipment is just what hes brought with him.

  • @Flawless_ said:

I am ok with this addon being as strong as it is if it was an ultra-rare or had some kind of trade off, but it's a green addon meaning you can quite possibly bring it on every game and there is literally no counterplay to it. Zero. Nada you can do as a survivor to avoid getting found or hit.

I can slap on whispers and just bounce around the moment it lights on. Boom wallhacks with no penalty. Where's the skill on that? Get to a tile and hit a wall once and you know exactly where they're going. This crap is like the old prayer beads and as a killer main I really don't think it's fair. I just wonder how in the world did the devs agree that this was weaker than either one of his red addons. Shouldn't they after 4 years know what makes an addon strong or weak? Meanwhile most killers' "ultra-rare" addons (PH, Hag, Billy, Deathslinger, etc) are mediocre at best and sometimes detrimental to your kit.

Just how? How is it possible that the entire playerbase can see these things but the devs are like yeah this addon is mid-tier let's just leave it at green rarity...beats me.

Is it bad to have a strong addon as killer?

  • @ItzPixelYT said:

Why did you even bother to mess with how Flashlights were working? They literally feel so horrible to try and aim with a controller now, and even the Blind beam is confusing...not to mention you get a delay coming out of Dead Hard now so you can't use it straight away to time the pick up saves.

Just more and more ingenious ways to ruin the game...i haven't been able to use a Flashlight properly in about 3 months since yous broke them 2 or 3 patches ago (which i'm sure was a side-effect for fixing the pointing crouch spam gltich)...but yeah thanks for making another Survivor item pretty close to useless.

I guess Keys are on the list next.

The new flashlight doesnt take long to get used to. But what tf was wrong with the original?

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

    not yet.

it's a mess for both sides: not starting unhooks or heals, missing the hatch or the flashlight saves you mentioned for survivors, not being able to use one's powers and missing what should have been a clear hook therefore for killers.

No its not like Im missing the hit, its that Im clicking and nothing is happening

  • @Justalittlepeeck said:

    Should I add more?

His power is very easy to dodge - just move right/left a bit and he cannot land a hit because of turning rate&lunge handicap.

It is useless in 90% of loops because you don't fit into narrow windows of opportunity to hit survivor as it takes too long to windup lethal rush.

It is entirely useless in closed maps unless you are a masochist and enjoy torturing yourself

The only situation it can potentially be useful apart from traversing the map - trying to hit survivors moving from one loop to another, but it work only if survivor isn't looking back to notice you charging at him and perform simple juke that you cannot counter because of turning handicaps.

His power is heavily dependant on the map spawns and if you don't get lucky spawns to potentially bounce in loops you are forced to walk and if you get spawn where everything is blocked by different tiles you still can't use your power because you simply can't move in these labyrinths of walls.

Blight in his current state is an example of how killers should never be made. He has a lot of learning demanded to do at least anything with his power and no matter how much effort and time you invest into learning him, you still are heavily dependant on tiles spawns and maps. On top of that, any survivor who has at least some experience against billy would dodge his rush without any difficulties.

This killer needs a lot of QoL changes, buffs or a rework. I'm disappointed in Blight and I'm really looking forward to his changes.

P.S. I'm not even talking how clunky it still feels to play him, his lethal rush attacks are somehow not basic and his camera is insanely low for a killer who MUST always keep survivors in his field of view.

P.P.S. Don't even dare say that "but you haven't even learned him". I have been playing him for 2 hours straight since release, not to mention a few days on PTB, a lot of KYF testing on both sides and watching other people play blight. That amount of experience was enough for me to figure out most tricks on any other killer I started from scratch. I have tried to use his power in any way I could imagine and it has proven itself to be rather useless and heavily dependant on factors that the Blight player cannot control. So I've come to the same conclusion as many other players - Blight sucks and needs a lot of changes.

Change his turning speed and give him a flick like Oni. That fixes some of his many flaws immediately.

  • @Lazerboy88 said:

I'm writing this post with a heavy heart due to the wave of dc's that have been plaguing our beloved game. From what I've gathered from in-game experience and reading this message board, the culprit seems to be a portion of the console base that are convinced that it is unfair that they are required to play against "superior" pc players. I'm here to tell you that you severely misunderstand the situation and your "protest disconnects" are only ruining the health of the game.

How can I say this you may ask? It's because I've been playing DBD on pc for 15 months now and . . . I've only ever used a CONTROLLER!!! Yes, I know this is sacrilege but frankly I don't care. I switched to pc gaming from consoles several years back because controller support had become so widely adopted. I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's the best of both worlds really. You get the granular control over fps and such but you can sit back and relax with a controller in hand. I sit in a computer chair all day for work. I don't want to have to when playing games at home and that's why we live in a world with options.

Because of this I can tell you that, aside from framerates, pc players do not have an overall advantage over console players. I've only ever used a controller and I've managed to be able to learn how to loop killers well and escape as survivor. I've also managed to hold my own as a controller killer and secured many 4k's over pc survivors. I think too many console players have heard the phrase "pc master race" too many times and have taken it to heart when it was really a phrase born of a time when pc's and consoles were completely different beasts with very few overlapping titles.

I know this is a long post but my point is this recent wave of disconnects is not proving any point and only damaging the health of the game. You're just going to have to learn to adapt to some new playstyles. It's no different than having to learn to adapt when a new killer comes out or a killer is reworked which is something we all have to deal with every few months or so.

TL;DR: The playing field is more fair than you think, you just have adjust to different play styles. I can say this with confidence because I've only played on pc and never used m/k, only a controller. Please stop dc'ing. You're ruining the game experience for everyone.

Although I primarily play on console, when I got DBD for PC, I use a controller. It doesnt feel right to me playing DBD without one.

I play SWF sometimes and one of my friends streams to twitch. We do it for the social component, not for swat SWF type things. At the start of the game the Demo was afk which we thought was weird but not unheard of. He came back part way in. Apparently during this afk he was opening the twitch client.

We found out end of game he was watching my friends stream to get intel on the game while he was killer. Admitted it in twitch chat. It didn't help him much, he had well over 500 ping so, even hitting us through pallets/walls he only managed a 2k with both kills coming from noed.

My question is, is this common? Should we be concerned with this going forward? Is there anyone else here who streams and has found a way to deal with this other than extending the delay on stream.

I love Twitch streamers. Either theyre super chill and everyone has fun, or theyre toxic, and I get to embarass them in front of their viewers.

I think many peoples personalities have caused the culture to be really heated. I just take everything as part of the fun and just enjoy it.

The first 40 games i wrote down every perk, but it was pretty clear, that only 9 perks were used the majority of time.

    2. Iron Will - 130 - 33%
    3. Borrowed Time - 129 - 32%
    4. Dead Hard - 127 - 32%
    5. Selfcare - 119 - 30%
    6. Adrenalin - 95 - 24%
    7. Sprintburst - 80 - 20%
    8. Spinechill - 70 - 18%
    9. Unbreakable - 66 - 17%

    = 990 of 1600 (every survivor used 4 perks) are by just 9 perks - 62%.

The DS + Unbreakable Combo was used by 40 survivors. 37 games by one, 2 games by two and 1 game by three.

I am not surprised. I don't think the data will change much by 1000 games, maybe 1-3% variable.

All other perks where used <30 times. I only have the old data from the devs in mind for DS, where it was around 43%.

And they nerfed Ruin for being overused. Lmao.

Yeah the Ruin nerf is necessary in THIS gamestate. It was nerfed too early. The period of time from the Ruin nerf to the mid chapter that removed most infinites and tweaked coop gen times are what I refer to as, the "dark times".

The dark times were a period of time where survivors definitely ruled the game with an iron fist, and the only killers who could compete were Nurse, Billy, Spirit and Freddy. Now with the removal of infinites and the increased viability of new killers, the game is now, in a semibalanced and fair state.

They always accuse people on PC of "hacking" (lol, really sad that skill = "hacking") and then they do toxic crap thinking it's fine. I would turn off cross-play if it didn't pair us with the exact same killer a few matches in a row (legit our experience, no lie) so I don't feel I have much of a choice. I wish there was some kind of incentive to discourage toxic gameplay...on both sides honestly.

Oh and before anyone says anything, yes I have run BT and DS. Do I feel like running those perks every game? No, I can't predict when someone will drop skill requirements in order to use a crutch to gain an advantage.

You're confusing "ignoring" for "not doing exactly what the feedback says". The devs do the latter, like any rational human being would and should given all the contradictory feedback. Some people thought old Legion and Deathslinger were just fine. Others did not. So when you say they "ignored" the feedback, what you really mean is that they didn't do what you wanted.

Let's run the list, shall we?

    • Graphical upgrade? Currently being worked on.
    • Camping penalty? Done.
    • More licensed killers? Done.
    • More lore? Done.
    • MMR? Currently being worked on.
    • Hillbilly rework? Done.
    • Leatherface rework? Done.
    • Legion rework? Done.
    • Freddy rework? Done.
    • Nurse rework? Done.

That's just off the top of my head.

So out of all of the feedback, these are the only examples you can think of? Thats kind of sad actually

How do you get killed when the killer doesn't want to kill you?

As previously stated. You can't do gens if the killer isn't chasing someone. Like, I get that you don't see what is very clear, but let's not pretend like the survivor is going to get on a hook on their own.

I totally understand your frustration, I really do and the thread was closed not because of the genuine comments that were on it. The thread was closed because of the Developer bashing that was happening on it, posts which we deleted as well as the irrelevant bumps which added nothing to the thread and were basically spam at that point. Then even after a warning was put on that thread it continued and people got warned for their comments and the thread was closed. Nobody is trying to censor Console Players. Check out my posts on this very forum where I've closed threads down which were set up to pit Console against PC - it's not something I approve of and it's not something BHVR approves of. We promote inclusivity totally.

The fact of the matter is, I can't answer the questions about optimisation all I can do is to say again it is something that we've brought to the teams attention - but I do not have any further word on it than that.

You closed for one bump. And might I add, I sure didnt see any dev bashing. Why would we insult the people who made the game we love? We're passionate about optimization because we love BHVRs product.

Hey bud I get it consoles are kinda getting the shaft right now but guess what this post whining about it ain't gonna get you anywhere, all its gonna do is make the people who are toxic towards console players laugh and the forum admins are very unlikely do a whole lot because of this post.

They wont do anything but close it anyways. Yknow what post was pointless? Your comment...

I haven’t really had a lot of issues. I’m on PS4 and I guess I’m just ignorant because I haven’t noticed many issues with cross play. PH drops my FPS when I play him and sloppy seems to skip some FPS when I’m hit as a survivor but it doesn’t seem to mess with the game as a whole. I may just be bad enough that I just don’t notice.

im guessing that a lot of posts on here about consoles were closed out or removed?

Yep. Mods were looking for any excuse to close that thread. They didnt want to keep looking at an issue they had no plans of sorting out. Im of the opinion that theyre not touching optimization until next gen comes out.

One of the only posts that was able to stay regarding consoles were closed due to "having too much drama". Do you know how that makes me feel as a console player? It makes me feel like our issues are not cared about. I'm tired of going onto the forums and seeing this pc entitlement with everybody berating console players that clearly causes lots of drama but when we are finally heard and want change to console that was suppose to come YEARS ago, we get shut up and the post is closed. Unbelievable. This pc entitlement is annoying, the lack of actual change is annoying, and everyone's patience is running thin

Censorship is strong on the forums all of the sudden. Hopefully BHVR doesnt pull a Blizzard and gets back on track.

Is it just me or is the optimization quite bad on console?

Share your thoughts/ experiences fellow console players

A mod deleted it because BHVR has no intention of making the life of a console player any easier

This isn't necessarily about stealth as then Pig would enter the mix.

But as far as general play at the green and purple ranks, who do you feel is the better stalker Killer, Myers or Ghostface. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I'm actually torn on this one, so looking for thoughts from y'all.

Ghosty is a better stalker, but Michael is punished less for being found.

I don’t understand. How are you being punished? You want to be confused by other superfluous things on screen like scratch marks, blood, and auras while trying to hone in on the KI indicators?

It doesn’t matter if it’s a non lethal ability. Legion can’t stall the game if they can’t regularly inflict DW because they can’t hit anyone because of too much happening on the screen.

Its beyond easy to lose track of survivors. Have you ever played Legion?

As someone who plays a decent amount of Spirit, I really think she needs a phasing animation to provide survivors with more feedback during chases. Considering that Spirit is very prediction heavy and that's the aspect of her gameplay that feels most rewarding, survivors knowing when she's phasing would enhance this experience rather than hurt her gameplay.

Currently Spirit can gain a lot of feedback from the Survivors, while they recieve very little, which I think is the main issue people have when playing against her.

While it also feels great tricking a Survivor into jumping over a pallet etc. and grabbing them. This happens so rarely and doesn't feel great for Survivors. So an animation or indication she's started phasing seems like a good start to alleviate some frustrations.

The glass glows if shes phasing I believe

I have 2,000 hours in this game and I really feel a bit silly because I will never be able to escape from a spirit... could you tell me the counter to start applying it?

This is assuming the spirit has stridor, refrain from "Iron Will" comments.

I really hope your answer devs. 🤗

Summary: It does not exist, you can't counter that.

Seriously, why hasn't this killer received his due nerf? He has almost the same capacity as the nurse, however you don't need to spend more than 50 hours just to be completely lethal.

God nurse: Needs 300~400 hours (dedicated just for this killer).

    • It requires you to learn muscle memory to use blinks.
    • You have to carefully manage your power.
    • Missing an attack with power has punishment.

God Spirit: Needs 20~50 hours (dedicated just for this killer).

    • Just buy some good headsets, the power takes you 2 hours to control.
    • She isn't punished for failing his power.
    • She don't need to have experience to play mindgames, just stay still.

I'm main nurse with about 400 hours only to her, I have no problems with a nurse passing over me (deserved?, so many hours I see it fair), but that a Spirit with 50 hours in the game passes over my 2,000 hours I can't make sense of it.

I'm really waiting for an answer, How do I counter Miss Mechanics?

That won't hold up in the higher ranks, my guy. Good deathslingers are almost always going to hit their shot. You 'dodging' them isn't dodging at all. It's just them missing a shot, not getting outplayed.

So holding m1 for 5 minutes and winning is outplaying killers then?

Killers cannot win unless survivors make mistakes. Thats the way this game has been for YEARS now.

Deathslinger countering is just guessing. You can't get good at guessing. It is impossible to dodge a shot that comes at you at lightspeed. I suggest you watch ScottJund's video about Retroactive Gameplay, it explains everything.

Stick close to walls. Do gens.

How is it even possible to do what BHVR does. They add in a new mechanic that doesn't work (Server hit detection) and it breaks geometry on the hill. We ask for changes to NOED or Iridescent head and we get an 'updated aura system' and they swap the accept and reject button on invites, because that's the priority, of course. We need a buff to Bubba, which was well received, but then they nerf billy too? No no, I agree BHVR, he was TOO overpowered and it needed to be stopped. But Spirit and Deathslinger? Nah, they're fine. We'll just let survivors have no fun while playing our game against these killers. When will this end? Seriously, all this is making me lose interest in this game. And it sucks too because I really like this game, but I just can't take it anymore.

Deathslinger is beyond easy to counter. Get gud. Every complaint about Spirit is valid tho.
