Seems like this 2018 meme is still relevant afterall !
As for the topic I don't see how these two things can be compared. It's like saying there's no difference between a car and a plane because both things take you from point A to point B.
-
Projectile killers are the most difficult killers to play effectively (i.e. against elite survivors) in DBD [after Nurse] in my opinion (ignoring the generous hitbox of Huntress' hatchets).
There's absolutely nothing wrong with failing anyways (it's just a game afterall) - particularly when learning a projectile killer.

Didn't the Devs say they balanced the game around the killer losing 2-3 gens in the first couple of minutes?
Either way, I do agree it's pretty normal and in no way indicating how unbeatable the team is.
Not sure if the devs specifically said so but I think it's just common sense that the first few gens basically exist to build up pressure that's supposed to stop the remaining gens.
Killers need to learn to remain chill and focused after losing the first 2-3 gens.
I guess they think if the first few gens pop in like 2 minutes it will happen with the remaining gens as well which isn't the case if the killer has managed to build up some pressure by then.
What people forget is that the first gens pop that quickly because survivors literally spawn right next to gens allowing them to repair immediately while not having to walk (near the killer).
Therefore losing 2-3 gens is really just the build-up phase for killers. After losing the first gens survivors have to spread out, walk around, find the remaining gens, rescue each other, heal (optional) with less chances of avoiding the killer etc.
That being said sometimes the remaining gens do pop just as quickly as the first gens but that's usually the result of the killer messing up, gen rush builds with decent toolboxes and flawless coordination or sometimes a little bit of hacking (which exists in any online game). Some matches just suck but that's what one signs up for in any PVP game.
-
360s drive away new killers and do nothing against experienced killers (unless they suffer from fps drops and aim dressing).
A terrible change in my opinion.

How the hell can you lose 5 gens in three minutes without being asleep or being hacked? Just doesn’t seem possible.
Happened to Otz (3.5 minutes for all 5 gens) and to me as well (3 minutes and 8 seconds).
Maybe hackers, I don't know.
I still wonder how that could happen. In my case it happened on Hawkins, too where people usually look around and need a while to even find the gens. Also I had my first down within the first minute as usual allowing only 3 people to even do gens.

That sounds normal?Ok then
It does seem fairly normal on red ranks unless you play against potatoes who never touch a gen anyways (and thus shouldn't be on red ranks).
-
Come back when you lose all 5 gens in 3 minutes.
2 minutes 3 gens seems fairly normal to me.
-
I disagree about the game being only fun when everyone acts fair and respectful.
I'm gonna be the one to admit the best (and most memorable) experiences I've had were those where I got BM'd by either the killer or survivors throughout the match and ended up winning.
As for the game being more fun when you've got no idea what you're doing I sort of disagree as well because honestly there's different "fun aspects" that come with different experience levels.
When you're new the whole immersion makes the fun. I remember very well hiding in a random corner and getting scared of the terror radius and the killer's presence.
Hell, I once jumped out of a locker because a killer LOOKED at it (when I was new) so I panicked even though the killer was (probably) not gonna check that locker.
Nowadays I find the game fun for other aspects.
Figuring out new builds and getting them to work as a solo survivor, finding the most effective (or unique) ways to use a killer's power or figuring out unique benefits when using specific perks on specific killers is what makes the game fun for me these days.
-
Fastest 4-man down I've ever had was in 39 seconds as pre-rework Leatherface measured from the moment I could start moving.
However two survivors were meme-ing by randomly pointing at me and the other two survivors were near-by and got caught off guard by Infectious Fright (it was just after the buff of Infectious Fright [the devs removed the basic attack requirement]) so people got surprised and went down then and there.
Got the clip on my YT profile.
-
I'm sorry but... Hell no. You know the reasons yourself I'm sure.
-
Can't decide. I really like most stun sounds.
- Doctor sounds like someone kicked him between the legs.
- Legion stun makes me think the pallet dropped exactly on one of his toes (especially due to their stun animation)
- Pig makes me go "aaaaw ❤️"
- Ghostface really does sound like he's so done with this stuff
- Demogorgon makes me feel bad for some reason. I don't want Demodoggo to ever feel bad. I even got tunneled and hit on the hook by one yesterday and still found him adorable.
- Wraith sounds like you've genuinely hurt him.
-
What can I say... Strong emotions run in my bloodline so the Entity just can't get enough it seems. Maybe grandma will join the trials soon as well. Oh boy, you certainly wouldn't want to mess with grandma. Oni was a calm puppy compared to her.

You said at the beginning that the better player/players should win. That, that would be balanced. Which I don't disagree with. The goal however is to have equally skilled players on each side. Which would make the 2k/2e balanced.
Aaah okay gotcha, well put.
On a side note I wouldn't mind getting nothing but 2ks if I felt like the skill level was actually equal.

That would be balanced though. You're forgetting that the ideal balance is pitting equally skilled people against one another.
What are you referring to ? My NOED example with two kills after getting no hooks all game via artificial lose-design or do you mean something else?

Survivors are unexplainable sometimes.
Reminds me of this:
https://youtu.be/1z-pVZiRjac -
Quote: "Balance would be 50/50 which means killers getting a average of 2k in most matches."
Wrong.
Balance in any PVP game means the better player wins.
If the game is artificially designed to let me lose either by giving survivors 10000 pallets that can't be mindgamed or gens that take 1 second to repair (those are theoretical examples) then it's clearly not balanced just because I manage to kill two via NOED while they tbagged in front of the exit gate. (again, that's a theoretical example)
That would be 2 kills 2 escapes in your scenario. Doesn't sound like the match was balanced now, does it ?
Killrates are a very minor factor when it comes to balance.
There are numerous factors that one has to take into account such as:
- number of hooks
- total time of the match
- disconnects and hook-suicides leading to a 4k
- afk players leading to a 4k
- trolling survivors playing to sandbag / sabotage their teammates
- bad matchmaking (i.e. Rank 1 killer vs green rank survivors. Probably still goes into the red rank statistics because of the killer's rank)
- ETC
Simple question:
Do you think 2 hooks and 2 kills is the same as 10 hooks and 2 kills ?
-
If you bring regression perks as Spirit: YOU'RE BAD !
If you don't bring regression perks as Spirit: YOU'RE BAD !
-
I haven't seen a single person talk about any TTVs recently...
You sure you're not just trying to get people to watch you?
-
Zanshin Tactics.
Why - does - it - even - have - a - cooldown?!
Not only does it have a cooldown but the survivor version of the same perk (Windows of Opportunity) is even stronger as its cooldown is 33% shorter.
4 v 1 game: Give both sides the same perk but give the side with 4 players the better version. That's balanced !

He predicted your shot through a wall and acted accordingly, just the same way you predicted his movement and acted accordingly. Thing is, he had a perk to save himself ONCE during a chase from that situation, and that would have worked only if he predicted your actions. If you had, let’s say, that Demo useless perk to prevent him from using DH would he come to the forum and call it BS and single player logic?
I’m not even defending DH or the OP, I just don’t see your logic in that statement. Your opponent used a perk to counterplay your actions, which couldn’t have done if he had less game sense, reflexes etc. I don’t see anything “not competitive” in that.
Honestly if I have to give my opinion about all of this, the problem isn’t Dead Hard. It’s gens and how coordination can end a game so fast. Always has been. You wouldn’t worry about losing 30 seconds because of a DH if the trial lasted more than 4 minutes.
He didn't predict the shot. That's why he had to Dead Hard in the first place. The damage indicator popped up under his feet so he hit "E to undo misplay"
Also why would that even justify the case in a 4 v 1 game? If the killer makes a good read it has -by the concept of an asymmetrical game- to have more value than the read of 1 out of 4 opponents.
Anything else literally means the survivors can 1 v 1 the killer which again is not balanced in terms of the asymmetrical concept.
Anyway I'm really done with this topic. My opinion is clear and rational. People don't have to accept my opinion.
Guess I'll just run Dead Hard myself so I can 1 v 1 the killer even if he uses his power perfectly in a 4 v 1 game where I can take two hits. That's fair.

congrats what'd I win? :)
In all seriousness though have you learned anything since then? Or are you still messaging people agressively about a game?
Personal reflection time :)
I admit I was wrong and childish. Messaging people over a strategy was definitely far from noble to say the least. Objectively it's none of my business what other people do in the game. They paid for it just like me so they can do whatever they want as long as it's within the rules.

Why send a message with the intent of making someone lose their motivation to play. Why message at all?
Don't you see how that's part of the problem.
Someone played the game in a manner that I didn't enjoy and I sent them an abusive message afterward because I can't just let it go and play it as a game.
It's a game, it doesn't matter and you aren't doing some social service by sending an abusive message in any scenario no matter what happens in game or how you manage to try and justify it to yourself.
If you can't walk away from a silly game that doesn't matter, even a bad one, wihtout getting involved in vitriolic hate mail then maybe its you shouldn't play.
Congrats for replying to a 2019 comment of mine that I can't even remember.
-
Wait... You're saying killers lose to survivors on the highest level of play ?
Now that's shocking and totally not what everyone knows already lol.
Sorry for the sarcasm but really that's not news to anyone. Killer skill does not matter in DBD and never will because the game is intentionally balanced around the mediocre survivor level.
And even at that level of balance average solo survivors struggle to escape regularly.

I think these people don't understand videogames in general.
In most videogames when you make a good play and predict your opponent you gain success from it, it's a rewarding feeling and this is the kind of gameplay people describe as "fun". Making a prediction and correct play and outplaying your opponent just for them to hit an undo button is counteractive to all that, it's why it feels like a kick in the gut.
Imagine playing CoD and pulling off an amazing longrange headshot with a sniper rifle just for the other player to tap E and dash to the side with i-frames. Where's the rewarding feeling for making a good shot? why bother trying to make a good shot when you know they're just going to tap E and render it useless? wheres the reward for your efforts?
It's really poor game design if I'm honest.

Exactly man that's why I would like to see gameplay of these people who claim dead hard isn't busted. When you played pyramid and shot through a wall, you used your brain to make the shot as accurate as possible but the guy with dead hard just taps a button and it's gg ez.
Pretty sure people who act like Dead Hard was a killer-skill issue are just trolls. I didn't plan to edit and upload the clip against the tournament guys but here it is anyway (names censored for obvious reasons, includes both point of views, filmed his POV with my phone so excuse the terrible quality):
https://youtu.be/L3avHdCJZaAHow can someone look at this and say Dead Hard is fine? I predicted his movements 100% accurately and got PUNISHED for it just because he pressed E. That's not tolerable in a PVP game.
Dead Hard is literally single player design in a multiplayer game.

A good survivor dodged your power?
That's so unfair.
We should nerf his perks.
Except he didn't dodge. He pressed E to undo his mistake. Big difference.
Obviously survivors will think that's fine because pressing E is really more difficult than predicting someone's movements through the wall.

Soooo essentially nerf because there are good players and good players aren't allowed to have perks that are considered to be good because you aren't good enough to stop them? Laughable. Oh they were on the other side of the wall so I know I 100% should have got them, yeah sure you do.
So I take a perfectly predicted shot through the wall but THEY are the one's playing good for pressing E.
Gotcha!
You make literally no sense whatsoever.
Also I know the shot was 100% accurate because guess what: Tournament players STREAM.
I got my POV and theirs.

Show me gameplay of your killer against 4 good survivors running dead hard. You'll see that when they dead hard for distance to that jungle gym or killer shack, you'll change your opinion.
Some people only play against baby default skin survivors who at best Dead Hard into a wall so they think the perk is fine. I wish people HAD TO verse a tournament team once in a while so they would see what the game really looks like when survivors know what they're doing.
I can immediately upload a clip of mine versing UBK Exlelite and his team so people see why Dead Hard is just cheesy bs at its finest.
I played Pyramid Head and had a 100% accurate shot through the wall. Guess what happened. Dead Hard aka "press E to outplay/undo mistake" and off they went all the way to the next loop instead of going down.
But yeah let's ignore Dead Hard because most survivors have 100 hours in the game and use it to Dead Hard into a wall.
-
@TheWarNung said:
I agree.
As a Rank 1 killer main I've never had a problem with Dead Hard. I even like to use it when I play survivor. Is it a really good perk? Heck yeah. Is busted OP and "press E to outplay?" ***** no.
I'm not sure why we're suddenly seeing all these nErF dEaD hArd threads. My guess is there's a lot of newer killers because of the event and the issues with survivor, and with matchmaking as goofy as it is people are struggling to compete against experienced survivors with good perks.
If Dead Hard isn't "press E to outplay" what is it then ?
You use Dead Hard when you would otherwise get hit so it is in fact nothing else but "press E to outplay".
Why even try to deny it?
-
So where is that "skilled killer" again ?
-
People like you make solo queue a horrible experience.
-
Can you even tell if someone is in tier 3 with the new HUD ? Tier 2 looks just like tier 3 madness now right ?
-
DBD is basically two completely different games.
Survivor: 3rd person jump and run game.
Killer: 1st person game with variables depending on what killer you choose to play (i.e. almost similar to a FPS shooter when playing Deathslinger)
That being said it takes a while to get the hang of either role so let me rephrase Bruce Lee on this:
"if you want to learn how to play killer, play killer!"
-
I have most respect for killers who play the game for the unique gameplay (often shown by their choice of perks) and try not to camp, tunnel and slug in their matches unless survivors force it, of course.

Because if you drop a pallet in a demo's face he still has to break them. If you compare windows only they might seem the same but that's not really the case.
Why are pallets an issue against Pyramid Head ? You aren't animation locked at pallets (unless you drop them, ofc) so the moment you're near the pallet while Rites Of Judgement is active multiple mindgames are happening due to the fact the survivor can:
- run briefly into the pallet then quickly run back at Pyramid and dodge left/right if he shoots (this works more often than one would expect). The shockwave won't connect because of the built in delay unless latency. If he cancels M2 you can run back into the pallet and drop it due to his 2nd nerf that makes it impossible to M1 for 1 second after canceling his M2.
or
- run through the pallet without dropping it, wait around the corner with no line of sight for Pyramid Head allowing you to go for the stun when he's about to pass the pallet (works painfully often, too) as he can't insta-M1 anymore after canceling Rites Of Judgement.
Those are multiple mindgames that Pyramid Head has little control over (especially the waiting around the corner for the stun thing since he can't strafe/look around while using his M2).
And if Pyramid expects you to do the stun thing and respects the pallet while holding M2 you can make distance due to the mindgame that took place. You even get a little more distance since his 2nd nerf that slows him to 92% for 1 second after canceling his M2.
Therefore I see the bigger issue at windows where you only have 1 move. You either jump/get animation locked or you don't in which case he can M1 the same way a Demogorgon can.

Are you really putting pyramid head on the same level as demo?
I’d almost put demo as the worst killer in the game. He’s got nothing. Terrible early game. Massive sound effects. Even if he sets up it can all be undone. He can be looped easily, even if you are amazing and using rat liver he can be fed pallets.
At least if you are on point with Pyramid you can absolutely drop people. He can’t be fed pallets at all, and he can tunnel someone out of the game within minutes.
No, I'm not putting them on the same level.
I am describing the situation people use to say "Pyramid Head is boring because lose-lose" (i.e. you want to vault a window but Pyramid holds his M2 and if you don't vault he M1s) and compared that situation to Demogorgon (vault and you get the M2 hit, don't vault and you get the M1 hit / lose-lose).
Why is that situation "boring and cheap" as Pyramid Head but "fun and fair" as Demogorgon ?

That's not always the case. Many killers such as Nurse have way more control over chases and they are very fun to go against. Killers can be both powerful and fun, it's just BHVR's incompetence at designing both fun to go against and fun to play as killers.
I disagree about Nurse. Have you ever faced a Knockout/Infectious Nurse?
She is by far the most annoying killer in the game in my opinion as she literally makes anything useless. Distance, windows, pallets, even perks that grant you free distance like Sprint Burst and even Decisive Strike as she can instantly down you again after the stun and even elevations (had a Knockout/Infectious Nurse on Midwich who slugged between the first and second floor). Absolutely no chance to play a normal match solo.
I hate her from the bottom of my heart and think no killer should ever be designed like her again regardless of the skill requirement. She is literally like an offline game character. Perfectly balanced if the enemies were NPCs.

survivors find the killer having control boring while the killer finds survivors having control boring.
Ironically neither Deathslinger nor Pyramid Head even have full control over chases.
Pyramid Head's power gets nullified by elevations (stairs, buildings, loops like the harvester), bugged pallets that stop the shockwave [happened to me at rotten fields. Shockwave couldn't go through shack pallet], perks that grant free distance like Sprint Burst, Balanced Landing, Lithe and Dead Hard which allows you to ignore a perfectly predicted shot through the wall and make distance while Pyramid Head has to stand there doing nothing for 2.25 seconds.
Deathslinger's power gets shut down by breaking line of sight (which I admit is map dependant), dropping pallets when injured and the same perks.
The only killers that give a damn about anything you throw at them is Nurse and (to almost the same degree) Spirit.

@JFF said:
I think it has something to do that they're anti-chase killers, making the most fun thing for survivors "chase" rather frustrating. For me it has nothing to do with bullying or escaping. As a veteran player I enjoy chases, that's why Blight, Oni, Billy or even demo are extremely fun to verse, since they can be dangerous, but still need to deal with basic defense mechanics survivors have, as for Slinger or Phead, survivors have to rely on their screwup.
Demogorgon does the exact same thing as Deathslinger and Pyramid Head in a chase. He denies windows and pallets using his shred particularly with rat liver.
Unlike Pyramid Head Demogorgon can strafe&zone around corners while already facing the window/pallet making it even easier to zone survivors yet everyone calls him fun to play against.
What makes the difference?
-
All killers are overpowered when you're bad as survivor.
Good survivors have a win rate of around 80% against Deathslingers and Pyramid Heads (based on the level of play of Sawpalin, Exlelite etc).
-
The first picture looks really painful.
I know people don't like Bubba but daaaaamn. That's one aggressive kick in his chilli.
-
I think neither Windows of Opportunity nor the killer counterpart Zanshin Tactics should have a cooldown.
You're using 1 perk slot for information potentially instead of a meta perk like DS, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, Adrenaline etc.
-
People that hook-throw should just get an icon above their heads so you know they're bad teammates in the lobby allowing normal players to dodge them.
-
Maybe I'm the exception but most of the time I enjoy going against Deathslingers.
Nurse and Spirit on the other hand...
-
Can't blame you. Game feels miserable at the moment.
Hopefully the de-sync issue will be fixed next week.
-
Oni -while incredibly strong and a vicious warrior- was an ordinary man physically whereas Pyramid Head is technically immortal.
Once James Sunderland recognized his terrible act Pyramid Head -a manifestation of his guilt, (sexual) frustration and desire for punishment- commited suicide symbolically.
Up to that point Pyramid Head was basically taking no damage from anything including gun shots.
CONCLUSION: Pyramid Head would kill Oni literally without taking damage.

Crossplay is a thing.

Some maps straight up shut down certain killer powers.
Pyramid Head's shockwave can't go upstairs. Now think of Hawkins with all the stairs in the map that are used to run loops. Turns him into a no power M1 killer if survivors know how to run the stair-loops properly.
-
How do you know they were SWF (or salty)?
Those are just assumptions based on the fact people face potatoes so often that they go crazy when they run into survivors with a functional brain.
I often run Head On as a solo player and occasionally try to hit a killer mid chase or when they're chasing someone else near-by.
Last time I managed to Head On a killer who was chasing a teammate.
Killer probably thought "aaah yeah another swf team!" when in reality I just heard them coming and thus decided to wait in the near-by locker. Even the other survivor had no idea I was in there waiting for them.
As for the "salty" part people usually laugh their arses off when they die after a match full of exciting interactions with the killer. I personally just moan when I escape in 3 minutes with no interaction at all. I don't play survivor for the exciting gen repair simulation.
-
Huntress could take Deathslinger barehanded. Wouldn't even be much of a fight really.
