Ruin OP (according to this forum)

https://youtu.be/LUnNzmtw_H4

Just a little taste of the red ranks. Good survivors dont care about ruin.

2 minutes, 3 gens. Thats how 50% of my games go lately. And i had almost no counterplay to it.

Edit: I ended up winning this match with a black pip.

Edit2: as you see, ruin does nothing if you stay on gen with no pressure.

  • Come back when you lose all 5 gens in 3 minutes.

2 minutes 3 gens seems fairly normal to me.

    That sounds normal?Ok then

  • It does seem fairly normal on red ranks unless you play against potatoes who never touch a gen anyways (and thus shouldn't be on red ranks).

  • Nobody said anything about Ruin by itself being OP

For the amount of posts you replied to(10860? rly), i was hoping you were more aware of ppl complaining

  • Use Discordance or Corrupt Intervention then instead of one of the perks you've decided to hide, what were they noed or something lol

They said a combo (Ruin + Undying) was OP, ruin by itself is not that great lol

Its the instant replay screen that hides it, no it used corrupt, pop, bbq and tinkerer. I replaced corrupt by ruin cause of a rift challenge thats all

Its because it only works on a killer with massive map pressure that comes to them quickly, like Billy and Blight

Killers are always weakest in the early game. They have no map pressure because they haven't created any yet. Ruin is meant to stabilize the mid game once you create pressure. It can do this very well if your totem stays up.

Fair enough, you shouldn't of picked up the Yui when Tinkerer went off and you still had your power to get to the gen. Other than that it looked like 2 on a gen screwed you over.

I said Blight and Billy because they performed the best with the perk combo lol

Spirit does work with it but if you sit on a gen while she chases she will either have to defend the gen and lose a chase or win the chase and lose the gen

Nurse is rarely ever picked due to how difficult she is to pick up and all of her bugs, I see a Nurse once a blue moon

    Exactly.

Which is why Corrupt Intervention is so important if you want to prevent these "first chase = 3 gens" situations.

No, gen wouldve maybe regressed but i would lose the yui from a pick up and the other gen wouldve been done anyway. And not sure if i would have gotten the one on the gen down with half my power and a close building space.I rather have 1 hook and get my read on where the otehr survivors were.

True, i always use it but still. i used ruin for a rift challenge. Its so sad to see you have no wiggle room in your perk selection when it comes to some killers

I'd prioritize a gen over a hook but you do you. Slugging is one of Oni's strengths.

Pretty much. As survivor Corrupt doesn't phase me. I prefer to get the lay of the land, open a chest cleanse a totem first anyway.

  • How the hell can you lose 5 gens in three minutes without being asleep or being hacked? Just doesn’t seem possible.

Same,i always go for the middle gens first.

They are the most important ones anyway

  • Why are you hiding half your perks?

You understand ruin only works if they are chased OFF a gen correct?

Also, they had 2 people on that gen, so it only takes like 44 seconds and less with items and perks.

I take it you don't have discordance on oni, you should REALLY have that perk on dude, you would have literally put a stop to everything that happened to you in this game with that and actually got value out of ruin. Gen speeds suck but you can do things about them, the game just forces you to use a certain meta is all.

Oni is also a killer who can win a game at any point, regardless of hook counts or how many gens have been done which is nice too.

    @CountVampyr said:

In theory it's possible but you would have to do literally nothing to the survivors, they would have to do nothing but gens, know exactly where each gen was, and probably use an toolbox or PTS or something if you are chasing one survivor that whole time.

I definetely agree.I almost always run this perk because there aren't really that many killers that could afford to go without it.

Hope we'll see some changes to the early game at some point.

It is, If you see the abilitie to slug. Open maps with infectious fright are better to slug with. Going with half your power into a building with 1 pallet and tight corner is a gamble.

Its instant shadowplay box that hides the perks, check above i already said what im running. Yeah i could use other perks, but then i would sacrifice perks which i think are better at another stage of the game. Dont get me wrong, even ruin and undying would not have helped me here. I Main oni, and i always play red ranks, i wanted to point out that ruin itself really isn't that great

Ruin itself is fine, it's a risk.

Also you just admitted that you didn't want to take it to scare them off gens because you wanted better late game perks, you made a choice a gamble and paid the price for it; that's everything working as intended and being fine.

Ruin is only good when you are getting value out of it.

Also I play Oni at red rank 1 consistently as well, since you seem to be trying to imply that I just don't know how to play oni or some nonsense.

Ruin is less useful on it's own, but what you take with it depends on how much you want to 'gamble' and what synergy with what you have you can use to extract the most value from.

There is nothing wrong in the above situation you've shown me, that changes any of that in any way.

  • Nope, noone said Ruin by itself was OP. It is OP in settings where the survivors aren't in comms and it's paired with pre-nerf Undying. Noone has ever said that Ruin itself was OP.

Also in this video, for 50 seconds, you pressured one person. Do you expect survivors to sit in the corner twiddling their thumbs until you get both your killer power spike (since you were Oni) and your pressure spike? Be realistic.

  • @CountVampyr said:

Happened to Otz (3.5 minutes for all 5 gens) and to me as well (3 minutes and 8 seconds).

    Maybe hackers, I don't know.

I still wonder how that could happen. In my case it happened on Hawkins, too where people usually look around and need a while to even find the gens. Also I had my first down within the first minute as usual allowing only 3 people to even do gens.

  • The only time Ruin is any good is when the survivors aren't gen jockeying and you get an insanely lucky totem spawn.

Undying/ruin wouldve done nothing else in this stage. Get real. Do i expect to sit them in a corner, no but 1 person 80 sec and 2 person 40, thats huge

  • It only takes 80 seconds to do 1 gen so if you have poor pressure and 2 people sit on gens they can get done even faster than that.. That's how generators work. It's all about keeping good pressure on survivors so they have to leave gens.

Yeah but the point is that you shouldn't be saying survivors have no right to find ruin overbearing because you don't know how to use it properly.

Didn't the Devs say they balanced the game around the killer losing 2-3 gens in the first couple of minutes?

Either way, I do agree it's pretty normal and in no way indicating how unbeatable the team is.

Not sure if the devs specifically said so but I think it's just common sense that the first few gens basically exist to build up pressure that's supposed to stop the remaining gens.

Killers need to learn to remain chill and focused after losing the first 2-3 gens.

I guess they think if the first few gens pop in like 2 minutes it will happen with the remaining gens as well which isn't the case if the killer has managed to build up some pressure by then.

What people forget is that the first gens pop that quickly because survivors literally spawn right next to gens allowing them to repair immediately while not having to walk (near the killer).

Therefore losing 2-3 gens is really just the build-up phase for killers. After losing the first gens survivors have to spread out, walk around, find the remaining gens, rescue each other, heal (optional) with less chances of avoiding the killer etc.

That being said sometimes the remaining gens do pop just as quickly as the first gens but that's usually the result of the killer messing up, gen rush builds with decent toolboxes and flawless coordination or sometimes a little bit of hacking (which exists in any online game). Some matches just suck but that's what one signs up for in any PVP game.

Edit2: as you see, ruin does nothing if you stay on gen with no pressure.

I mean, thats the thing with ruin tho, base gen regression seems a bit broken as it feels like base gen regression is already 150% of the original, so having 200% on top of that is basically a regression rate of 300% instead of 200%.(I checked, 1 generator with vanilla regression regressed 50% within 2 minutes, when it SHOULD lose 50% within 2 minutes and 35 seconds, so that means 1 generator will lose 50% in about 1 minute with Ruin).

So yeah, right now, Ruin is a bit OP.
