The 'dev bashing' you're referring to is them being held to account, isn't it, rather than those that attack them for having a different idea on balance?
This forum, and in fact any forum for gaming communities, is always filled with people attacking devs in uncouth manners for a difference in opinion on balance. The latter, though...this only really happens to a select few companies and bhvr are really bad at addressing it unlike, say, Blizzard did recently.

Not saying they will. But saying they need to do something about it.
Their choice to letting their customers lose their machines or not.
I know, it's just depressing to me. It's both horrifying and hilarious that they ######### up this bad ngl. They need to get a new anticheat contract asap and just hotfix it in, rather than wait for a new major balance patch.

He is claiming his console got bricked because he played with someone, i don't think so.
This is actually very possible; they can control use of the system's resources in order to overload or overheat it,including fan functions.
However, given that we all know what performance of this game is like with basic effects, it's not hard to see that something as basic as stacking a ton of effects together will completely brick an older generation console.

Okay this is actually getting bad enough. BHVR needs to do something because people's consoles are being bricked, ######### hell. It's only going to get worse from here.
lol imagine thinking bhvr will do something about this.

The killer can literally open it themself, negating this issue you claim exists. Just open it if it bothers you that much.

Yes, let's not hold them accountable for constant lies and taking the money we spend for granted.

That's kind of his point if you want to try hard to get kills you will play against other players who also try hard.
If you get more kills expect your opponents to be better at not getting killed.
If you want to play for fun your opponents will also play for fun.
Win win. I mean if thensystem is designed in a non terrible way
This post is in no way a criticism of the dbd devs and should not be taken as such. It is also not intended to point out any forum rules being violated both of which are understood to be against forum rules.
Not true. I play for fun and all I got on the enemy team leading up to and just after the change to matchmaking, was unfun sweats. On both roles.

@ion_eyes said:
If the MMR system works as it should, you can choose to play however you want, and the MMR system will adjust accordingly.
If you continue to camp and tunnel, you'll be put up against stronger survivors who can loop and stealth better.
If you don't choose to camp and tunnel and you get 0K, then it will adjust, and you'll be put up against weaker survivors.
We know this doesn't really adjust properly given a lot of factors such as good survivors often giving their lives for their teammates and literally bad runs of sessions that can mean being facecamped to death on first hook, as well as a ton of other issues such as map affecting things, and the killer being played.
-
I mean they have now proven that they never learn from their past mistakes; in the past, killers would intentionally defend only the event gens, and survivors would sabotage the event hooks specifically. They fixed the sabo issue, but not the other (simply making it not obvious or even making all gens/hooks event gens/hooks would fix this easily with no need for the fix to sabo)

What happened to you when someone reported you for hacking because of perks or addons ?

Don't worry, they don't ban even hackers that they have a ton of video evidence on. You aren't getting banned.

I will say that playing the game still puts value in BHVR's pockets. In a multiplayer based experience, the players are part of the product being sold. One person playing can inspire another to spend.
I see your point, but at the end of the day most long term players spend a ton on cosmetics and DLC. If enough stop doing this, it doesn't matter that others keep buying because there's a big enough playerbase to keep the game going.
Edit: to be clear, though, I'm not one of those people. I view bhvr as scummy, yet again, for their blatant lies, but not even just with regard to NFT's but their lies when it came to matchmaking, etc. I've literally not played the game since a week after Pinhead was released because the matchmaking made the game plain unfun and their blatant lies about how it was being done simply didn't help.

Then it’s not really a boycott/protest. Like you said, it doesn’t mean anything if you keep playing the game.
Not quite what I was getting at for the 'not meaning much;' I was referring to the statistics.
If people don't spend money on the game, then that's a big issue for bhvr, so if enough people do it, it really does mean something regardless of the number of players.

It's not dead. There is a halloween event in game right now. It's playable. It's just not relevant anymore because overwatch 2 will eventually replace it.
Playable =/= alive.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I don't, i've seen similar stuff with overwatch in it's lifetime and despite everything there is still a dedicated playerbase, even though there's been no real new content for nearly 2 years.
Tbf, Overwatch actually is dead. And Activision only has themselves to blame with regard to completely stopping all content drops for a live service game that was already beginning to struggle to retain players thanks to incredibly whacky balance, for years.
(This doesn't mean that OW 2 can't revive it, but man did they know how to kill off their own game lol)

And now it has posted this?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XB5XAYEGNA1E/screenshot-20211018-190326.png
So to clarify; this whole NFT... "thing" is actually something that you have worked on (and it doesn't give additional access to extra content (like voice lines - not that I mind about that bit. I'm just trying to get my head around it.)
I'm just horribly confused and worried over this NFT "thing" as most of the research I've done into it have all came up with rather negative connotations.
A quick reminder to please keep the comments civil, I know it's hard; but please try. Also if anything gets out of hand please close this topic.
Thank you.
Edit: I originally posted this as a new discussion, is the forum automatically putting these posts together already? I guess they were prepared for the storm at least...
It's genuinely terrifying that they claimed it was legit, thenthat it was a scam, and now endorse it. :')

Oh I agree. It shouldn’t be only about escapes/kills. The devs even said they tested that before but it didn’t work out and their system was more complex now. Turned out to be a lie..
Yep, I called that lie out the instant I saw the claim. I knew I was right. I wish I wasn't.
-
When I play killer, I'll probably rotate him in now and then. But I just don't see myself playing the game much thanks to matchmaking, which also makes me less likely to play him despite the nice QOL buffs and add-on rework.

It's had me not playing for a few weeks now.
I've explained countless times across the forums why it's bad and why it makes the game feel awful, but man...is it awful.

It's one of the stronger killer maps, but unless you're a stealth or plain M1 killer it's just straight unfun since powers are almost impossible to use in it. RPD is worse.

If you link me that Scott Jund video I'm throwing hands
Legit one of the few things I vehemently disagree with him on lol. Although tbf he kind of means Ranger and Emergency Medkits with tons of charges, which I at least understand.
-
Depends on the way it's done; a tiny bit of it in some contexts can be seen as being a memester or just a cordial, 'hey' while not being locked into an animation. Other times, it can be to annoy the hell out of the other side.
I only ever do it in a cordial manner when the killer is memeing, maybe they're a ghostface and can do it back and it's all fun and games...or if the killer played in an obnoxious way, trying to be toxic, or tunneled me/a teammate all game and we still got out. I will teabag the ######### out of that type of player.
-
They're enough as such that they haven't been decimated but some people will end up using them as a fun mechanic and it'll introduce a new mechanic that acts as an extra survivor timesync for those that choose to run it.
-
It's not dying, but a lot of long time players are leaving. It doesn't matter for the game, however, because licensed DLC's carry its existence.
The experience is awful now. DC penalties crossed with the way people are playing recently alongside the forced new matchmaking system are a big part in this.

Patrick, the lead game designer answered the question during the Q&A "What is a 'win'" according to Dead by Daylight's gameplay.
He replied in an objectively questionable way, subjectively somewhat mocking way that it doesn't matter how well you did, if you died you died, and if you escaped / killed a bunch, you win.
One of the things he said was,
...That's all MMR is trying to do, it goes, 'we know that you died' it's ignoring how you got there because there's too much nuance to be able to make a real effective system, and we just ignore that.
Listen Patrick, buddy. I get what you're saying, and I understand why it needs to be like that. Buddy, you don't just go out there with however much prep time you had and essentially tell a community full of people questioning your system, "Yeah you could be the best player on the team, but if you died our system recognizes you as trash"
I appreciate the honesty from BHVR for once, but really? Was there really no better way of saying this? Everybody is quoting this one segment just because of how poor of a response this was.
Please, get someone to proofread your responses ahead of time because wow that whole segment was a trainwreck.
I mean you say this is honesty, but it's off the back of datamining finding this fact out and they also previously told us that it wouldn't just be about survival rate. They lied. But I kind of already knew it.

Mmr is fairly useless and all they've done is spend 2 years to make an equally bad system and probably a worse feeling system and then just covered up ranks so people can stop bitching at them about rainbow lobbies.
worse system, tbh. before it didn't depend on kills and survivals, now that's all that matters. old system was more nuanced by far.

First of all I should mention I don't have the Pinhead DLC yet, waiting for a discount. This is all from my experiences facing the perk or watching people use it.
Not on every killer but on killers like Bubba, Oni etc. Hex: Plaything sounds like a very strong perk. It works as a stealth perk that lets you get closer to survivors before they start running and usually gets you a free hit or a down in the case of killers like Bubba, it works as a slowdown perk where if they want to get rid of it they have to spend time looking for and doing up to 5 totems, it works as an information perk because whenever a Hex pops you get a notification and finally it gets rid of DS unlike killer based actions like Demo's portals, Pig's boxes, Plague's fountains etc. And it does all of these with zero input from the killer, which is the best part of all of this.
In builds that doesn't involve other hex perks and on killers who benefit from stealth a lot, this perk feels like it should be meta. It feels weird how rarely I see it being used outside Pinheads.
I've seen it quite a bit; obnoxious to go against, to say the least lol. The most annoying part is when you're cleansing a dull totem as a teammate gets hooked and it gets blocked, kicking you off the totem.
-
Of course they're aware, but as long as EAC exists despite doing literally nothing they have an excuse.
Tbf, they could be working on something or trying to procure a contract for a better anticheat and we wouldn't know; I doubt it can happen overnight, but let's be frank, the cheating has been happening all along - it's just exacerbated by the lack of punishment and the awful new matchmaking system.
-
Art/music is always amazing for this game. The one positive consistency!

And people can try and disregard this post, but I’m including direct quotes from BHVR to support my argument.
Right now boons will not have the effect that hexes can have on the game; they will simply give survivors extra optional objectives that spice up their gameplay. There are issues, such as stacking and range in the case that their radiuses overlap, but this is simply something that can be reiterated on and absolutely should be upon the live release of this midchapter patch.
-
He's bad if he doesn't get his RNG power up, but there are builds that allow him to get it up consistently that make him insanely oppressive.
Remove the box, buff the rest of his kit. Remove RNG out of his chase power, (sometimes it just does nothing at all) make it more clear when he's using it for the survivor at the same time.

Disagree, but at least with new changes he became more skillful, right? Holding m2 until you catch up definitely raises slinger's skill ceiling...
No more of these unskillful, unfun, uncounterable, easily obtainable, unfair damned quickscopes. Thank god devs took care of them and finally buffed zoning even more. Now I don't have to take any risks of missing my shots because I don't need to shoot unless they're locked in animation. See, pressing m2 for a long period of time is REALLY HARD, your finger gets tired, and that just elevates slinger to a whole new level of skill you have to master.
Funny. I, too, can string together random sarcastic sentences to make it sound like I'm right and everyone else is wrong.

You are aware that stretched res doesn't show anything that's not present on native, right? It's not giving you more resolution, it's stretching what's already available. Meaning those videos trying to showcase you being able to see the killer over loops in stretched res, you can do the same thing in native, but you have to move your camera more. The benefit of stretched res is having to move your camera less.
You're also being dramatic about stretched res. You don't get an aerial view of the map by stretched res and you still have to move about it just like on native to see information such as: nearby windows, what gens are nearby, etc. Even on bare maps like Sheltered Woods.
You're kind of the only one lying. It's very easy to tell the people who cry about stretched resolution who have close to no experience with it or absolutely none.
I really just find it funny how people act like stretched resolution is a human right's violation but they're also the same people who use fps uncap, filters, and so forth.
also FYI: Console can use stretched res too. It's just harder as there is less customisation and it's more hardware limited by monitor settings. For the most part it's not "cheating" or exploiting as both parties can do it. Just like climbable rocks aren't exploiting or cheating as both parties (killer and survivor) can do it, not just one role. What console can't do, however, is fps uncap, which gives a gameplay advantage. You lot aren't ready to admit you're cheating using that, though.

It does not give them a free health state... That is like saying faking a window to make a killer swing is earning a free health state. You just didn't lose your health state.
No, faking a window to make the killer miss is a skill. Using a perk and pressing E for free distance to get the pallet drop, isn't.

Imagine crying about stretched res. Its just resolution, people need to get a grip.
Have you not seen waht it does to the game? It literally gives an unfair advantage as for whatever reason specific to DBD, it actually changes FOV rather than just resolution. It's awful to go against on both roles since it hard counters some pretty big plays.

Well it gives survivor a free health state IF killer tries to hit them and survivor manages to hit E faster.
Besides it has always been like this.
No, it also gives them a free health state if used properly, with no counter on the killer's end. What you described is a very bad way to use it.

Yes, I'll go back to playing huntress. Removing quickscoping takes away fun and skill from this killer. Though I can say NOED Slingers love the new update, now that zoning even more encouraged and you don't have to shoot nearly as much.

It's funny because in practise he seems to be just as good as he was before. Only difference is that he can't abuse M&A for a free hit to start a chase off.

I've found a lot of cases where survivors seemed suspiciously fast, like running as fast as me as such to make me think I'm probably just going crazy, and then I found out a lot of streamers etc have been saying the same thing. Idk if it's people cheating or if some bug with the servers that's happened as a result of the SBMM activation since it's happened ever since then.
