Now that the cost to prestige is down from 50k to 20k, I wonder how that will affect the overall numbers?

Yeah it's actually insane that they're making this change. I have everyone P3 + max perks and I'll be P9 which is the same prestige that everyone else will be that got to P3 with no perks.. The old catch up mechanic was more fair to people that put in more time and effort.
That's literally thousands of hours of effort wasted because they decided to cap the prestige levels
I guess it depends on what one considers a "waste." They still have everything they've gained from all those hours of grinding. I don't really see it as a big deal since you're not losing any functionality in the game; the "prestige" number beyond level 9 is just bragging rights. They'll probably continue to play for many hours and level up quickly.
-
I think Deathslinger is actually pretty good, maybe in your "Alright" tier depending on perk loadout.
Save the Best for Last can help mitigate Deathslinger's slower aim time by getting faster hits, and Pain Resonance helps with his slower speed. Dead Man Switch is also great on him.

@Bob9 said:
Did no one seriously try it on wraith?
I haven't tried it. Wraith is more about hit + run strategies, so it's probably why people don't use it often on him. But he's an M1 killer and could still benefit from it.

@GoshJosh said:
You might be surprised, but people really don't expect it on Huntress. π€£
Huh, interesting. Do you find it is worth bringing on your build versus other perks? Or is it just kind of a fun perk to try out once in a while?
-
Maybe the same effect as current Ruin, but at a reduced regression speed (100 percent or 50 percent of normal regression or something). It would require allowing you to kick a gen if it's already regressing, though, otherwise it would nullify multiple perks like Pop and Call of Brine.
-
Used to use it with Deathslinger, but since the Dead Man Switch buff and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, that seems to be a much more effective combo for me, so I use that instead.

How does it work on Nurse?
Doesn't she get fatigued after each hit?
I figured they might get a normal hit then it will allow them to get a faster follow-up blink hit. But maybe I'm wrong.
-
Personally, I've just never really cared for Doctor's gameplay. He can be really oppressive, but I only really ever play him if I have a daily or Rift Challenge.
Also, I hope comments that about how he isn't Spirit, Nurse, or Blight are meant to be ironic, because I never play those killers. Course, I'm also not a top MMR beast, either.

Pinhead
Chaining and then smacking survivors with super quick recovery makes holding W really difficult when I can chain again shortly afterwards
I play a lot of Pinhead and haven't ever really tried STBFL on him. That's a good point about chaining and then getting another hit. I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks.

Unpopular opinion:
I LOVE STBFL on Pyramid Head - I always have and always will (nerf pending, that is). It allows for much for flexibility with him, and you can use M2 to save your stacks when you need to injure the obsession.
I guess now I love STBFL on Onryo, too, since the perk can massively help with ending chases (especially spicy for when you want to take advantage of a fully cursed survivor for the mori.)
God, STBFL is good on just about ANY killer in my eyes. When used effectively it just makes any killer absolutely menacing.
I didn't think that was an unpopular opinion. I agree on Pyramid Head completely. Since I avoid getting hook-specific perks (Pop, BBQ, etc.) since they don't work if you cage someone, I usually go for other perks like Ruin, I'm All Ears, and STBFL.

It's not mainly about me winning, it's about me struggling to do well with phase-walking. I feel I make so many mistakes now. If that makes sense.
Is it possible that you're a victim of your own success? As you play a character, you get better, you get more kills, your MMR goes up, you play against better survivors, they know how to counter the tactics you used in the past against survivors of lower skill levels, and the process continues. You may feel that you're getting worse but, in reality, you're actually still getting better but are playing against commensurately better survivors as a result.
-
The only killer I'd consider using it on is Blight, but he's so strong that he can afford that perk slot for Shadowborn. Every other killer I feel like the benefit of spending an entire perk slot on it isn't warranted.
With the game becoming more difficult for killers seemingly daily....I don't have the luxury of spending a perk slot on something that's ultimately a convenience, not something that is game changing.
I'd probably more likely take "Monitor & Abuse" over Shadowborn for the reduction in terror radius outside of a chase.
-
The fact that, within the past few months, I can nearly consistently get an insta-queue as killer, no matter what killer I'm playing, relatively any time of the day when this never happened before...
Whereas my 3 friends and I who queue as survivor have to wait sometimes 10-15 minutes to get matched with a killer during peak hours at night...
It just demonstrates that people just don't want to play killer anymore. They're sick of Boil Over, Boon perks, nerfing of powers like Hillbilly's chainsaw for no apparent reason, etc.

No kidding. Played him for the first time the other day for a daily and it's like if they made molasses a killer. Never playing him again, unless he gets changed. Feels incredibly horrible to play as.
That's how I described him when I played him as well: molasses.
However, you get used to it, and moving more quickly while aiming encourages staying in your sights around loops, and the reduced stun time when a chain brakes makes "Save the Best for Last" a much more viable perk.
(for those who don't know, you can break your chain when reeling and injuring your obsession so you only have to lose 2 stacks before downing her/him)
-
As others have said, there's always ways to adapt. As soon as you tell yourself, "it's impossible to counter this killer", then you've already lost.
-
Will survivors completely stop running Dead Hard, Unbreakable, Iron Will, Sprint Burst, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time....
I see those every game as killer, too. Quid pro quo. :)

.......well yeah
what do you think would happen if i got a special variant of devour coded onto my user id that was hexless
i'm not sure what places that sentiment is meant to go to
and who was using thrill with ruin?? particularly given pre-nerf undying was a thing some time ago, often times the two hexes will spawn ages away from eachother and you can't be two places at once so coinflip if they get it or not, rather use haunted for that to turn it into a 1/3 initially with an admittedly not that impressive effect for punishment but better than some slowdown
If I wanted to run two hexes, Thrill with Ruin was my choice over Undying and Ruin. Thrill actually gives you a chance to defend your totem. Undying just buys slightly more time. And Thrill worked very well.

................is it? it's been a meme as a thing that either isn't a factor since you get the type of survs that hold m1 unless you physically force them off a gen (and then go back to holding m1 on it if you don't commit) or your ruin's gone within 60 sec of the match
what about blue totem apocalypse makes it any more likely to stay up given there's extra players looking for a place to plunk shadowstep, which is usually in painful locations, which is usually the places where a hex would be a pain if it spawned (i.e. not sniped in first 20 sec of the match)
I don't personally run Ruin most of the time anymore. I run Pop and/or Jolt. But Ruin is still an undeniably strong perk. If it weren't a Hex but maintained the same properties, *every* killer would use it.
I agree, it isn't *as* strong since survivors are running boon totem builds, and also now that Thrill of the Hunt no longer gives a notification that someone is cleansing or blessing a totem (which has basically killed the main draw toward using that perk altogether, in my opinion).

I think SBMM is a big lie from BHVR to calm down their community only. I play during night game even with the noobest killer i ever had i get bullied and dont have any hook from survivor.
Totally disaster
One or even multiple instances of having tough matches doesn't negate the existence or utility of SBMM. There are a lot of factors that go into a match, and the tide can turn from killer to survivors multiple times. There are going to be games where you get 3 or 4 wins multiple times in a row, and there will be multiple where you get 0 or 1 in a row (I have noticed this). However, you remember the "losses" more strongly in your mind, so it appears that you're losing more than winning. That's what's called the negativity bias.
If you want to really convince the community that SBMM is a complete sham, please provise us with actual numbers. Start a spreadsheet and list the killer and build you played, the time of day, how many hooks and kills you got, etc. If you do that and play 50, 100, 200 games or more and you consistently get 0 or 1 kills, then I'll start to believe you.

So many matches today. It's fascinating.
If I keep sighing so hard, folk will think I've got a breathing issue.
Almost makes me want to crack open my first beer of the year.
But seriously, has anyone else noticed an upsurge in Ghosty and Ruin?
Ruin is one of the strongest meta perks right now. You'll find it on every killer.
And why is it a particular problem with Ghostface? Just run Small Game or Detective's Hunch and tickle those bones.

Plz answer for that question cause idk did i have to prestige my nancy at the event time :C
Only prestige if you want to for the sake of doing it, or if you really want the skins. The devs have said multiple times the claim that it boosts rare item drops in the bloodweb is basically false right now. Maybe they'll fix it someday, but I'm not taking all my characters to prestige 3 in hopes they will.
-
Thanks all. Yeah, the only killers I've really considered for Brutal are Trapper and Clown. For Clown, I'm thinking of trying Pop, Brutal, Deadlock, and Surge. I normally like Save the Best for Last on him, too, but it stinks always running into the obsession.
-
He's my main (still waiting for a Pinhead icon for the forums π) but haven't played him recently because of dailies, rift challenges, etc.
That's something to consider. With a brand new rift, people will undoubtedly be playing different killers. This round it's Trickster.
-
The costumes are great, and even though I can't quite figure out how to use the Blight rush, it's cool that it's in there. It feels Halloweeny.
-
If the MMR system works as it should, you can choose to play however you want, and the MMR system will adjust accordingly.
If you continue to camp and tunnel, you'll be put up against stronger survivors who can loop and stealth better.
If you don't choose to camp and tunnel and you get 0K, then it will adjust, and you'll be put up against weaker survivors.

You don't think they started out wondering why everyone's so negative? Telling people they need to have "constructive feedback?"
You'll turn into Stan looking for his letter while waiting for your constructive feedback to finally be addressed. Because you'll put in your constructive feedback. And then you'll put it again. And again. And again. And yet again. And you'll keep doing it until you get so jaded you stop caring how constructive your criticism is phrased, because the only thing that seems to get the attention by the higher ups are negative criticisms.
Don't believe me? Just ask all these angry people how they got so angry at the game, and why they haven't left yet.
Behaviour reads the forums. I think being toxic in complaining about something they complain about over and over and over again isn't going to get the changes fixed any faster. It might do the opposite.
If you owned a restaurant and you did what you could to make your menu the best, but one regular comes up to you and yells at you how you never listen to them and you should change the entire menu to fit how they think it should be, would you do it?
Some people around here want Behaviour to somehow stop all tunneling and camping from killers. How are they really supposed to do that? It's silly. So yelling louder isn't going to change anything. Most of the complaints I see are like yelling at a wall because it's blocking their way while refusing to move.
Someone camps? Adapt. Someone tunnels? Adapt.
As far as hacking goes, yeah, that definitely needs to be something that's fixed by Behaviour.

Don't get me wrong, I used to heavily dislike the negativity around this forum.
Then the NFT deal and yet another botched chapter release happened and everything makes so much sense now.
I like this game a lot and I hate seeing this happen to it.
I get why people are upset about the NFT. I'm not saying all criticism is without merit. It just seems like there's complaining about every minutia within the game, no matter how insignificant. And people who have a rough game come in here and claim the game is broken rather than just taking the L and moving on.

This is the Feedback forum.
People generally give feedback when there's something wrong.
When everything is working fine, people don't bother to announce it to the internet.
I'm not sure what you're expecting.
There is a completely separate forum board for that. This is a "General Discussion" forum.

Because it has the potential to be something special.
Why continue to vote in elections when the world keeps getting worse? Because there's still potential for it to be better.
Sure, but is it better to say, "[enter political leader or country here] is absolute garbage! You used to be so much better! Now it's terrible! You ruined everything"?
Or to give positive, constructive criticism that can actually be read and taken into consideration? If you had the chance to sit down and talk with your country's leader face to face, which way would you talk to them?
I think it's cool to be able to have a place we can talk to other players and the developers will see what we say here. We should take it and use it the best way we can.
The negativity gets old, and I'm sure the devs read everything whether positive or negative, but it's easier to convince someone to see things your way when you use reason and don't resort to shouting, insults, mudslinging, etc.
-
@Pulsar said:
Not a lot to be positive about.
Then why spend time talking about a game you don't like, or at the very least, there are no or little positive things to talk about?
It's a strange thing. I've played many games in my lifetime. When a game I like goes downhill or just changes directions, I leave and play something else. But it's like those who detest this game just can't leave it alone and find something else to play or to do to occupy their time.
I'm not saying some of their complaints aren't valid. I just see a lot of people saying this game is absolute garbage, it's broken, etc., yet continue to play it or post on the forums.

Telling people to sit down, shut up and stop behaving in ways that displease you is the opposite of positivity.

I loved Deathslinger before. I still play him. I don't think he's unplayable now, but I'd be lying if I said that I have more fun with him now than before. I just have to relearn how to play him.
But I have friends who say all the time they hated playing against the old Deathslinger, and it seems like it was a prevailing view among survivor players. I didn't feel that way, personally. I was still able to dodge Deathslinger shots as survivor. But to each their own.
I also feel like "Save the Best for Last" is basically an essential perk on him at this point since his cooldown for pulling up and down his sights feels really slow, so need to save as much time as possible.
-
I play as killer primarily, and I play the same now as before. I don't see why the event changed anything. I think you may be taking anecdotal evidence as scientific/statistical evidence. The event just started. Give it some time before saying the Halloween event has made everyone more toxic than before.
I'll add that proxy camping is a valid strategy depending on the situation. I don't do it every time I hook someone, but if it's near the end of the game when gens are being done and I hooked someone next to some key gens? Why wouldn't I proxy camp?
There's toxicity on both sides, we have to be fair. You get the flashlight clickers, the head on SWF teams who hide in consecutive closets to stun the killer one after the other, the tea baggers. As survivor, yeah, I got tunneled several times last night and it wasn't fun. But I deal with it because it hopefully bumps down my MMR and I can play against easier survivors next time because of it.
-
It's all situational. The more you play killer, the more you realize this.
I don't camp or tunnel every game, but if people make a huge flub and are downed next to someone already hooked with two gens right next to the hook, and I can hook this person close by? Sure, I'll proxy camp a bit so they lose at least one state. That's a valid strategy. But I won't face camp.
When you have two people on hooks right next to key gens in the game (especially if nearly all the gens are done), what is the other option than proxy camping? Run to the opposite side of the map, close his eyes, count to 20, and then yell, 'Ready or not, here I come!' That's not fun for the killer.
If I can see the survivors are really struggling, maybe I will do just that, to be honest, to make it a fair time. But I'm usually struggling to even keep up with gens that fly by in games I play.

I think they mean that the Halloween themes flashlights and medkits will appear, and potentially the addons(?)
The charm you're talking about was a rift item, I don't imagine that's going to be available again, but I could be mistaken.
I just checked it, and I think you're right, it was a rift 1 reward. Yeah, probably won't get that again. Oh well. Thanks.
-
I never played killer because it was so stressful but I gradually learned over time to love playing killer. I mean, yeah, it is stressful. But I try to find new ways to have fun:
- Crazy trickshots on Trickster, Deathslinger, and Huntress.
- Cool use of bottles by Clown during chases.
- Awesome hook shots as Pinhead that down loopers fast.
- Cool perk synergies that make the killer feel fresh.
These are just some things. A lot of times I get 3 or 4 kills, but a lot of times I still get 1 or 2 kills. Sometimes only 3 or 4 hooks. I've trained myself not to get upset when I have a bad game because this game is incredibly unbalanced. The balance is shifted between player skill (which the devs are trying to balance out with the SBMM), perk and item loadouts from survivors, map selection (some maps are straight up miserable for some killers, and we don't even need to consider RCPD for that because it's terrible for everyone), and most survivors just want to troll the killers because that's fun for them (tea bagging, flash light clicking, whatever).
Your health is too important to be worried about being top-tier super high MMR 4K kill streak killer. Just find ways to have fun other than racking up those kills. Because if the only enjoyment you get out of the game is getting kills....then yeah, maybe find another game to play.
-
@Mr_K said:
If you weren't already prestiging you characters you should wait and see what the new system is.
It might be made to where you can keep some things like addons.
Yeah, it's possible. But it sounded like it was a system they were working on that was more complicated than simply allowing you to keep your items when you prestige. But that may be a side benefit to the new system? They've released so little information that it's hard to know what to do or not do.
