  • Small Game: Unlocks the ability to eat crows. Eating a crow has a 50% chance of granting Infection: Food Poisoning.

  • BBQ & Chili: Survivors must be left on the grill hook for at least 15 seconds and at most 60 seconds. Survivors that do not meet these conditions will be inedible and reduce your stacks by 1.

"It's about game design and how the design promotes unfun behavior like tunneling, camping, and gen rushing."

That's another very good point to make. The game is designed to be played in those "unfun" ways if you want to win. Winning while playing completely "fair" by survivor standards is generally only happening if the survivors are all potatoes.

    Exactly.

Anyone that plays killer at all knows how much easier it is to win vs a 3-survivor team as compared to 4-survivors. This is game design. Not many multiplayer games literally leave players dead and useless spectators for the rest of the match.

Unhooked survivors start injured. They are louder, they bleed, and if you're nearby, they're practically screaming about where they are located. Already more than 50% of your job done for you. Game design.

And for survivors, what is there to do for the tunneled survivor? You're either skilled enough to run the killer around for the rest of the match (or lose the killer with the few viable stealth options), or you're not a filthy smurf and you get downed eventually. And for the teammates of the tunneled survivor? Most optimal play is to gen rush and end the game quickly, which is why the killer wants to tunnel in the first place. Again, game design.

The biggest problem with this game is the most fun style of playing is the least competitive and vice versa. Letting all four survivors live for most of the game is literally the worst thing you can do as a killer and that sucks for everybody.

  • I tunnel as killer because it's the easiest and generally most effective way to win. I won't tunnel as hard when I know they DS, MoM or whatever, or if they're obviously way too good.

I don't like tunneling because it's not fun for the survivor.

It's not about fairness. Killers shouldn't have to sacrifice their chances of winning to play "fairly" (i.e. suboptimally) and survivors shouldn't be subjected to a #########, unengaging experience (i.e. being tunneled to death or subjected to staring at gens for 5 minutes) for being in a game with a killer playing optimally.

Everyone deserves to enjoy the game and play competitively. It's about game design and how the design promotes unfun behavior like tunneling, camping, and gen rushing.

@Visionmaker that would be nice but instead of 1 charge a second it would have to be like 0.9 charges a second

@legion_main I don't think it's needed. While the OP is extreme in their suggestion, they are correct that regression is one way to prolong the game. A few QoL changes for killers isn't going to be horribly oppressive.

And if it is, then isn't that another way to buff lesser used perks? e.g. Buff Technician to stifle all gen explosions and halve the time to begin working on a broken generator? Buff Deja Vu to increase repair speed on regressing gens for x seconds proportionate to progress regressed? Buff Detective's Hunch to passively highlight any broken generators a la Surveillance?

@thrawn3054 Pop Goes the Weasel is 25% regression. With that in perspective, anything over 10% is absurd.

  • I think there should be an added static regression upon kick. Like a missed skill check amount.

Furthermore, it should take survivors more than just one tap to undo regression. Maybe an one full second or two.

  • @TheBean said:

I've always wondered with Pop Goes the Weasel, if you start kicking the generator one second before the cooldown is up, when the animation is finished, does the generator actually get Pop Goes the Weasel applied to it.

Cause I've sworn that I don't think it works if the animation time exceeds the remaining cooldown left on the perk.

    Does anyone know?

    It doesn't apply.

  • Just put on your better addons and offerings?

Why should you dodge a challenge? Should survivors be allowed to dodge killers with red addons or moris, or a high rank 3-blink Nurse?

Honestly, if people just voiced their opinions in a calm, collected, and nice manner, then maybe they'd get more feedback and responses from the devs relating to their ideas or changes that they want rather than calling people out on being 'toxic' or a rude slur for simply just wanting to have their thoughts voiced aloud towards changes that COULD help the game. And if it doesn't end up heping? Well then, they can talk about it and not argue over it.

Unfortunately, it's not the players' job to persuade the devs. People get mad and angry because they feel unheard, not the other way around.

@Orion You have more downvotes than anyone else because whether some people agree with you or not, they just don't like your attitude and want to downvote for that. Which is part of why I agree that downvote is just invalid. If you can downvote someone cause you don't like how they said something even if you agree with what they said then what use is it? You're not going to change someone's personality by trying to hurt their feelings with downvotes you'll just encourage a shut down of discussion with that person. Who knows, maybe some people want to do that.

What else is a downvote for than to make someone feel bad for what/how they posted? It's a punishment for unwanted behavior.

If someone downvoted another person because they were communicating in a non-productive and uncivil way, then it's a perfect example of the downvote working as intended.

No one explicitly said downvotes meant agree/disagree either. On the contrary, such a basic interpretation would only promote low quality comments of the lowest denominator.

  • There are plenty of upvoted comments that are toxic.

Killers upvote comments that attack survivors and survivors upvote comments that attack killers. Don't act like you've never seen a highly upvoted comment that amounted to "lmao DAE think ____ are whiny and salty?".

I don't see why we should take away downvotes if we leave upvotes.

  • Only when someone is toxic to me first. I don't see the need to play normally or respectfully if other people want to go out of their way to ruin the game for everyone else.

But I rarely comment in end-game chat aside from ggs.

  • Nurse is a special killer because she is blind from the bag over her head. She can only sense things that move and make noise.

Except the part where it shows the location of all people without deep wound within the terror radius. An aura read by any other name...

Also, why would they switch deep wound mending to a healing action when they already reclassified Doctors Snap out of it action away from a heal just 9 or so months ago? Are they not analogous?

Yep, I'm just calling it what it is. Or isn't, rather. It's definitely not as powerful as aura reading, that's for sure.

Has it really been that long? Yes, that's correct and I agree with you. But Mending makes more sense logically because it's literally healing a wound. If there's any mechanic that should have an exception, it should be Deep Wounds, rather than Doctor's... whatever that is.

  • Where's the counterplay in your idea?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Killer with aura reading power wants even more aura reading powers.

    Story checks out.

    Legion's power doesn't read auras.

Rationally, you wouldn't even need to mend against Legion within NC range because the timer stops. The more important aspect would be Sloppy Butcher and Coulrophobia, which will discourage survivors from mending in the Legion's TR.

If Mending was considered healing, Legion could run be cheesey and run Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butch, Coulrophobia, and NC. Better than the standard BBQ, SF, Enduring, and Ruin.

  • Active ability: Blocks all doorways and windows of the Killer Shack for 10/12.5/15 seconds with the Entity's stakes.

    160/140/120 second CD.

  • GM commands like respawning or instagibbing survivors, resetting pallets, changing perks/loadout midgame, etc.

Maybe in the very distant future a map creator would be nice. Or even something like Overwatch's new custom workshop.

  • 120%.

I think everyone point you've hit is fair and accurate.

I'd like to add camping to the tunneling point of yours as well. Killers camp because it is more beneficial to bait survivors to you and have the option of tunneling, rather than spend the little time had looking for them and risking two escapes. Not fun for the survivors, not fun for the killers. Average game time needs to be increased so that "playing fair" isn't the subpar strategy and penalized so harshly.

    @FireHazard

You're right, it's not THAT easy, but it's still pretty easy and doesn't reward skill. If the Killer managed to capitalize on the Survivor team's mistakes and get three kills before 2 gens were completed, then they deserve to get that last kill. The Survivor shouldn't have a chance to jump out the Hatch and just escape for free. Why couldn't the Killer receive permanent aura reading at an unlimited range if the Survivor was not actually trying to escape and would just try to become completely immersed until the Killer gave up?

@SnakeSound222 The killer who gets three kills deserves three kills. They don't deserve the last kill because they haven't earned it whatsoever.

Why do you consider finding an alternative objective a "free" escape? It's not free when you have to do something for it: i.e. find it before an undefeatable, faster Killer does.

  • I think being healed by a teammate should be faster. That way, Self-care isn't always more viable than relying on teammates.

    That's it.

@Orti What are the chances for THOSE to happen. In all my hours playing DbD (almost 800), I've never ever seen a killer cancelling their Mori if it wasn't for the solely for BM'ing.

Mori cancelling needs to go. Its ONLY used for toxicity.

There was a video that showed a clown spamming a mori to prevent a downed survivor from leaving the exit gate at EGC. The survivor can't move, recover, won't be picked up, etc.

In my opinion, it's exploitative. 4 minutes of cheesed BM (where the survivor can't so much as move) is excessive.

IMO, killers BMing is not normally a big deal, but the mori spam circumvents key mechanics.

flashlight clicking should be eliminated along with mori spams.

Can we affirm that only macro clicking be penalized? I like clicking at teammates, and it already drains the battery.

    @Visionmaker

And who are you to police how people speak? Are you a moderator? I don't think so.

I am no one. Doesn't mean I don't have my opinion, it's not like anyone listens to me though. If they did, threads like these would be little and few between.

I DO have a problem with people who are screaming and hollering for no reason.

Your opinion. Even the loudest posters have a reason. Is it a rational reason? No. But it is even less fruitful to complain about someone who is complaining. It's actually downright obnoxious.

Maybe so, but then again I'm stating my opinions. When I speak about complaints and feedback I do so in the attempt and belief that I COULD help someone. My philosophy is that complaining is useless and does not help, while feedback and constructive criticism is useful and helps improve the game. That is NORMALLY the case. But what do I know?

What would you prefer that I am rude to you and insult you like I was a child? Or would you prefer I remain polite and explain myself to you?

My preference doesn't really matter, now does it? What matters is that you follow the rules of the forum while you are posting, and if I feel that there is an issue, I can exercise my right to leave or report your post. You have your reason for voicing your opinion in the way that you do. I am not going to sit here and invalidate your reason just because you aren't being cute.

Your preference matters to you, and it can help me change how I interact with others, so therefore it matters to me. Feedback is everything, and I CAN change for the better. I follow the rules as best as I can, and try to help others without being completely invasive. I may or may not fail in that but that is for others (like you) to judge. I merely stated my opinion and was not trying to be cute, I just state what I feel would be a better way to help this community which has a bad rep already.

Do have a good day if you decide to not respond.

    @Shad03

Good intentions, lacking in execution. I mean, you were taking the OP seriously when it was clearly not intended to be. In my opinion, people who are angry lack trust for various reasons. It is up to the developers to earn that trust again.

And I stand by the fact that most of the players in this competitive game are younger individuals, who naturally do not have the tact, emotional stability, and maturity to express themselves appropriately. Players' primary goal isn't to persuade, it is to experience. The Developers who understand this know not to take it personally, and should know how to glean information from even the most irrational and uncivil opinions. After all, tossing these opinions aside is a disservice and immature in itself.

From calling you "not cute", I was inferring that I wouldn't bother invalidating your opinion even if I didn't like how you were talking. I was not saying that you weren't actually being polite or anything.

I think we both know that the community at large can use some improvement, and the surveys are evidence that the devs are trying to probe at it. However, believing or implying that a disgruntled player has no point is in fact the direct opposite of how to approach the problem. It's a way to irritate these people, i.e. why I knew not to take the OP seriously. To change how people act, you can start by understanding them, or imagining yourself in their shoes. When people feel heard, they won't feel the need to shout.

  • @Shad03 said:

    @Visionmaker ...

That's where my problem stems from.

I don't mind CONSTRUCTIVE feedback nor do I mind people giving negative feedback.

I DO have a problem with people who are screaming and hollering for no reason. Maybe it's cause I'm weird or I see the world a lot differently, but I can see the difference between screaming and kicking, and sitting down and explaining.

THOSE are not interchangeable, no one likes a person who complains, but many likes those who can explain what is wrong without the package of trying to calm the shouter down.

What would you prefer that I am rude to you and insult you like I was a child? Or would you prefer I remain polite and explain myself to you?

@jackkn12 People are people. Nuff said.

Now that being said, not everyone complains. Unfortunately, too many people have been melding complaints for the sake of complaints with feedback for the health of the game.

That might be where your confusion is coming from.

Many posters have delivered constructive feedback.

Furthermore, it is the developers' and designers' job to fish out constructive feedback in the midst of complaints, not the players' job to withhold how they feel.

And maybe, just MAYBE, that different people have different opinions on the game, and the same people aren't the ones complaining each time. Pretending that the entire playerbase is one person that flip flops is willfully ignorant. If you don't want to hear complaints, then maybe you should avoid a public forum, just saying.

  • You don't understand because you are not listening.

What I don't understand is that threads like these are allowed. There is literally no content beyond "stop whining" in the original post, and the only purpose is to bait.

  • Many players notice that most cosmetics released over the last half year have been locked to Auric Cells, and sales are very few and far between. Despite initial protest, store prices have not changed and free-to-play players are feeling increasingly neglected.

This goes against the guideline you had originally set for the store, where 80% would be able to be optionally unlocked with gameplay rather than payments. Has this been internally addressed and are there any plans to diversify the store or put more effort into Iridescent Shard cosmetics?

  • If he is going to be a stalking character, he needs to be darker than Claudette.

Can you imagine how ######### scary he would be if you could only see his creepy mask on the edge of a dark corridor or MacMillan?

  • I'll give you a thumbs up. Solo survivors need this.

There's a good reason. I'm being real here, if a survivor gets caught at the very end and they're not one of my SWF, I'm less likely to go out of my way to save them. Even less so now with EGC. I imagine most players would agree if they were in the same shoes.

Any incentive to make a selfish player want to go back for a solo survivor is a good one.

  • Um, is it just me or does he take a selfie with the victim during his mori?

  • I think he needs a few more tweaks.

His new look is cool, but isn't scary enough. But his original onesie wouldn't look good ported to DBD nor would it be scary enough in the present.

Combine these two in terms of color and design (more rotting, wispy, and dark aspects) and I would be satisfied:

  • Cypress mori should be default.

I disagree with using them as an alternative to the third hook. That robs 3 chances at saves for something simply cosmetic. There is no skill involved in a mori and it does not deserve precedence over a flashlight save or coordinated bodyblock.

  • I prefer moris to look the best they can, rather than making them faster or slower based on something so arbitrary.

  • Vaulting feels so bad. Also the miss on swing coupled with the 4 second stun feels terrible too.

The animation and sound is terrible and it feels worse than a regular vault. I think they should bring back the fast vault speed, make the power drain while you're vaulting (right now it does not drain), and have missed hits drain the power quicker rather than fully.

Overall, Legion's power feels clunky as hell. It's a disservice to use Legion's power in a chase. It's not very fun anymore.
