So basically title, what is the best jumpscare build and how have you got to play in order to be as efficient as possible (basically make people jump off their seats and get hooks, with the first one as a preference)?
Hag
Use the addons Shackles with Severed Ear and place Hag traps near Gens or places Survivors go. The Shackles make it so survivors are not alerted to the triggered traps and the ear deafens them so they can't hear when Hag pops up.

If someone put themselves in a corner, you have no obligation to let them go before you hit them or use your power. They made a mistake, not you. It's totally fair game to capitalize on that. It only becomes a problem if you refuse to hit them or let them go.
Now I did that to a Survivor as Billy but kept reving my saw as they shook their head no as I did yes making them sweat and I just let them go messing with them.
I loved messing with fun Survivors but lately it's all about BMing the Killer or just escape asap and I lost finding those fun Survivors.

Not really. Hag is slow, they run far away fast if you are too slow, people waiting till you pick up, etc. I feel like you've never played hag against a team that actually knows what they are doing.
Also, re: trapper, hag - I don't consider having counterplay and survivors disarming or removing traps as "bullying" and I feel it's a bit of a stretch.
That's why when you play trapper you use the addon that injures a survivor when they disarm a trap and the one that downs a survivor that gets out of the trap by themselves. That makes Trapper actually dangerous.
Hag dosnt have those kind of addons sadly

The lore seems neat, but he also sounds incredibly boring to play. What does he actually do besides slowly slowing down one survivor?
Also, it doesn't understand what perks are. It gave you some add-ons instead of perks.
Yea I noticed that at least the first two are perk worthy just the third is definitely a addon

You guys have no problem with tunneling and camping being legit strategies but want to take away survivors ability to use their BT hit as a strategy? 🤣🤣🤣 Y’all telling on yourselves big time. Just say you don’t ever want all survivors to be able to escape.
If you can camp a hook at endgame to ensure you get that kill, why can’t unhooked survivors take protection hits for each other during endgame to make sure they all escape?
Some people are not Killer mains I for one is a more Survivor main and I wouldn't mind stopping that.
I'm not going to be the Unhooker's personal shield because they want to unhook right in front of the Killer. There have been times that the unhooker deliberately put me between them and the Killer to force the Killer to hit me instead of them losing my BT protection.
-
@Nirgendwohin said:
because the developers allow it. maybe the devs would like to comment on why this type of tactic is in game.
They did a while back saying that Camping, Tunneling, and Slugging are all valid strats for the Killer to use to apply pressure.
Hence why they won't just "Get Rid" of those strats or make something that would punish those Killers who use them correctly in a non BM way vs those who use them in a BM way.

Her fake out definitely needed fixed but giving her both directional audio and distance audio was a bit much imo. She would of been fine with just a directional audio.

It's getting out of control.
it's common knowledge that people do not know how to play dbd correctly and instead they project their personal IRL feelings into game decisions what leads to false decisions.
I can record games that I did progress to the game (gens) while everyone else dies one by another within 15-20 seconds. Everyone else just does unhooks. No progress. I decide to sneak and wait until it's over to increase my odds of surviving.
And there we go. They always team with the killer or the killer with the survivor.
Please increase the ban duration to at least 1 week, then 2 weeks, then maybe a month and then permanent.
I would also appreciate if you could communicate a change like this.
______________________________________________________________________
Discussion about the reasons for people teaming is not needed.
It's forbidden. That's a game rule.
If you choose to team with the killer just bc you don't like that person that's not a reason. If you have a problem with the game doing unbalanced matchmakings or changes to the base game use this forum to critize the devs for it. But do not blame people for making the mathematical right play according to the core game mechanics.
You do not have the right to team with the opposite team at all.
And no, no one is meaningly sneaking from the beginning of a match just to sandbag the team. Some people are scared (and yea, 30hrs people get matched with people about 12k hrs) and if the game can't be won by literal facts and someone tries to survive on it's own this game makes the right decision. DbD is not a 100% teamplay based game. The devs already communicated that Death.is.not.an.escape.
The Death Is Not A Escape is referring to the Survivors trapped in the Entity's world of torment. If a Survivor does thier torment, suffering and lost of hope is fed to the Entity and then returned to the Campfire to wait the next Trial. Same goes for the ones who escape....when they open the gate and leave they can see the campfire in the distance and return to it to wait for the next Trial.
Some times what your perceiving as "teaming" is a farm Killer having fun with one or more Survivors....that not frowned upon. Or like others said....if I saw you hiding and crouching all match and see you yea I'll Kite the Killer to you hoping that they will change targets to you. What I hate more than teamers are Survivors that do nothing all match just to hope to get the hatch.
I won't deliberately point out any survivor to the Killer but I WILL run by while being chased.

Saw MS twice yesterday and this didn't happen. Dropped to the expected 80ish percent.
From what I understand it's not a constant thing there is a step you have to do to get the big to work which again is why it's not KS it's not a game breaking bug.
-
@hermitkermit said:
It’s a known bug that has been around for awhile now. For those that don’t know if you miss a skill check it decreases the gen to nearly 10% even if you had it at 98% which is around when the merciless storm perk kicks in. Essentially you have to do the gen twice from the bottom up. I’ve also heard you don’t even need to miss the skill check and that it will just count as a miss regardless but I’m not comfortable saying it’s never been my fault ever.
Anyone know why or when this will be fixed?
The main reason is that it doesn't meet the criteria of the Killswitch. Killswitch is for game breaking bugs like Nurse Blinking into the ground or wall getting stuck or Clown Perma Yellow bottle haste. Even perks that caused players to get DCd from the match.
When Oni had his double Blood Orb bug he didn't get KS.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3395958#Comment_3395958
The biggest issue the perk suffers is that gen regression on live is so strong so the 20% doesn't really do a lot. With the upcoming mid chapter nuking CoB and Overcharge and making Pain Res much more limited in uses, that 20% boost will accomplish a lot more.
And that worries me if BHVR continues the trend of going after Regression but not looking at Toolboxes, BNP, or Progress perks.
The feeling of Gens going to fast will get worse without any decent regression perks.
-
I'm going on month 9 of taking a break....Killer got me so down. I don't follow the meta perks and make my own fun builds....but when I usually get at least one BM end game chat EZ Game bs every match or someone accusing me of camping or tunneling when I clearly didn't gets old fast....
I'm pretty much taking a permanent break playing the PTB to see if any new patches will change anything or how Killer feels to me then I usually go back to other games.
*Note* I never play to win but play to have fun and that gets ruined by a few Survivors

May I say that the Queen of Hearts is also referred to as The Red Queen in a certain movie done by Tim Burton.

Yeah. I personally don't use DCB as I hate its design and it takes all the skill out of playing her, but MDR to me is totally fair game. I don't mind facing it as survivor either for that matter. I kind of view it as just bumping her up to the power level she was supposed to be.
I see DCB as a accessibility addon for those that are hard of hearing tbh. I only use the combo if I have it and I'm wanting to let off steam....

^ This. Overnerfed.
There's no depth to her power. It's just can you move faster than they can react, that's it. Pretty shallow now.
That's why many use the MDR/DCB combo now. A survivor with any sense can react to her now.
-
I stopped playing her awhile ago. I agree her fake out needed fixed but giving her both directional audii and distance audio was a bit too much imo.
They should of given her one but not the other because with both Survivors know exactly where she is coming from and how close she is to getting you. I have not been hit once by the reworked Spirit which is sad to be honest.

You're definitely an anomaly, but I'm sure most survivors would like a game where they get 3 chases in and some downtime on gens, also most survivors aren't very good and can't last as long in chase.
A Asymmetrical Horror Game. The Killer is not part of the party aspect of the game. It's the Survivors vs the Killer in a 4v1 aspect. If it was a party game all players would be on the same team or at least all have the same goal.

Casual level.
You know, the average player.
The average Survivor isn't very good. The average Killer is also not great. However, most average Killers are pretty big on tunneling, camping and relying on regression perks.
It takes MUCH more skill to break 3-gens, counter tunneling and to counter camping than it does to employ those tactics.
Hence, I think the game is maybe a little Killer-sided without those things at a casual (average) level but with those things, I find it to be very Killer-sided.
The better the Survivors are, the more likely they are to be able to counter those strats.
I think what Dolli was saying wasn't to disagree with you but that if a Killer wants to just do a wacky meme build for fun then they will be Gen Rushed and likely lose.
Yes I agree with you too that it's more Killer sided if we look at the average player skills which is a good way to look.
But then as the Survivor's skill increases the more the scales tip to the other side. The current MMR dosnt help keeping the balance either

Dead Hard needs to go back to how it was. Forget the extra health states and hit-negation, I want something that gives consistent value. Keep the contingency of having to get an unhook first if you want, but I want a short bit of distance and I-frames back. Just change the animation to a dive roll so it doesn't look like a weird dab/dash and it'd be perfect. The way it is now is more problematic and annoying for all parties.
You do know the DH for distance is the reason why it was nerfed in the first place.

Especially the likes of CoB, overcharge which are spammable and free. Least old ruin pop required you to actively push people off gens and get hooks.
Lil iffy on how they're handling pain res, but we'll see.
It is a bad thing since they left Gen Speed Perks, Tool Boxes, and BNP unchanged yet again. I have seen nothing but Purple Tool Boxes with BNP just the best addons and never heal. If you don't play a good Travel based Killer that can have map coverage then you'll lose the Gen Pressure advantage.

Unless something has changed I believe it's almost impossible to not get a safe unhook since base BT was added. Safe and unsafe are determined by the hooked person going down or not within 10 seconds after getting unhooked. In a world before base BT that situation was possible, in today's world the only way that can happen is if the person is afk/refuses to move and the killer double taps them
No safe unhook is when you unhook the person outside of the Killers TR basically when the killer isn't around.
-
@Pulsar said:
Very significant nerf, imo.
It has a capped usage, requires a Safe Unhook and will be removed upon any activation.
Considering how often I see failed DH's and server rollback DH's, this feels like a very strong nerf.

I get that I totally do. But I’m not gonna record every match I play on the off chance that someone is cheating or breaking the rules. That’s an unfair burden especially when their reporting system has zero transparency anyway on whether or not a player was disciplined or banned.
Until BHVR takes actual steps to improve their reporting and transparency system Im not gonna put that burden on myself. It’s not my job.
Alo I’ve tried recording with OBS and it kept freezing up and wouldn’t record sound. I know how to play video games but I’m not a tech person that’s gonna take the time to troubleshoot and figure all that out, especially when I’m not a streamer.
As Hug said you don't have to record the whole match just set it up to record at a press of a button and record the time they are bodying blocking you and holding you hostage....they will never take someone's word that a incident happened without proof and a screenshot isn't enough to show they held you hostage for 5+mins.
I get your venting but nothing will be done if no one reports these players

I mean when I used to play DbD that's what I did as survivor....if I see a Dull totem I will break it unless it's in a good spot for my CoH/Shadow Step....once you learn the basic areas the totems spawn it's not hard to get them while moving to the next Gen....

There isn't any besides DBD was never made with VC in mind....that's why SWFs with good coms are so powerful in a sense. Like said earlier as well, if they add coms they would have to balance the game around coms and that would make those who don't want to use them or can't at a disadvantage.

Can confirm. Voice comms are pointless in pretty much every game unless you plan to yell at people on call of duty. No one uses them because it’s not worth the headache of yelling at random strangers or getting yelled at. Or listening to someone’s spotify favorites playlisted on static mode.
Just had that in Seige some idiot didn't like I wasn't on coms and literally shot me in the head and said hey watch out cross fire when I was the only person there.....then they went and blasted some show with MULTIPLE racial slurs in the background and when people said they muted him...he just shot them too or purposely blocked them in.
I got worse in a later match when I was teamed with him and his two friends.....they did the same thing but now we had 3 idiots being toxic and ruining the game.
This is a very much hard NO on a standardized VC

And this is where we have the current problem. Regression is in a way worse place for non mobile but gen speed altering stuff is untouched and even added in the last 4 chapters.
I'm assuming it will be something of a gen blocking meta with something like CI,DMS,DL, and making sure your 3 Gen doesn't get lost.
And now with the new changes coming the Gens will go that much faster....that's why I stopped playing....I want to play my way with off Meta perks and only got nasty toxic survivors constantly or which happened more times I could count lost many Gems because I didn't run any Regression perks.
-
@RainehDaze said:
Circle of Healing should still allow survivors to self-heal within its radius
No. That is literally the problem with it. That has always been the problem with it: one survivor and 14s in an isolated area of the map, now everyone has old self-care.
The overcharge and CoB changes aren't really okay, because even if they hadn't touched Pain Res, the only halfway functional regression perks are pain res (semi-unreliable scourge hook perk) and Jolt (half the Killers can't use it). Every regression perk has either been nerfed in 6.1.0, or de facto deleted afterwards. <_>
And yet again BHVR hasn't even glanced at Gen Speed Perks, Tool Boxes, or BNP so Survivor side Gen Meta is left unchanged...
-
Here are my thoughts and I predicted this and it looks like without any changes to thier choices I was right.
They are Nerfing more regression perks (now not as bad as I was thinking) but never touched any Gen Speed perks. This means in the long run Killers will have a harder time applying and keeping pressure on Gens if they are not a mobility Killer.
I have mixed feelings on the healing changes too....making medkits a standard across-the-board will make them less annoying to deal with but on the other hand less likely to have a fellow Survivor use their medkits to heal a injured Survivor vs just basic healing.

Yet they just released a killer who is only good at that gameplay. Is it the other killers fault when behaviour itself keeps releasing killers that work the best for that tactic? I hate 3 genning and patrolling only those, but if all gen defense perks are nerfed you might as well say bye bye to killers at that point.
Maybe if behaviour stopped releasing these faulty killers instead..
Yea but players were complaining about "No more Anti Loop Killers" so what does BHVR do....make a Killer that has no AntiLoop power and is horrid at chases....that only leaves Zone Defense.
Nerfing all Regression Perks into the ground won't fix the underlying issues. We also saw during 6.1 that they didn't touch any Gen Speed Perks or Toolboxes along with BNP which are part of the issues that led to the Regression Meta.

With so many complaints about the CoB and OC meta and they are definitely the most used perks I'm expecting them to get nerfed. Even if they aren't destroyed I still makes the current regression even weaker and only makes it more 3 gen reliant for non mobile killers.
Yea I agree....let's look at the first perk shake up and how they did Gen Defense and Regression....made it so you need at least 2 regressions to have a chance if not a mobile killer....them they thought the fiasco with a certain perk was needed but quickly changed it back.....
I expect to see more Regression Perks nerfed but nothing done to Gen Speed perks making more of a reason to Target a 3-Gen from the start

I love the optimism, but that would most definitely not reduce tunneling. Folks who find tunneling an effective way to win will still tunnel, only they'll be even more successful since the Survivors now have to worry about another objective on top of trying to save their friend. Those two things are ultimately completely unrelated. It's like trying to fix a leak in your roof by oiling a creaky door hinge.
Hey Peanits wouldn't making hooks count for something like a buff/debuff for each hook the Killer gets with the stipulation that each hook has to be a different survivor. That would help incentive towards hooks and away from tunneling a bit

Oh scurry off with the party game fallacy, i heard enough of that. The same BS like always connecting "competitive" with eSports/pro league.
DBD isn't a party game, the killer is never part of the "party". They are always working against the rest with hard counteracting goals.
One side having fun almost always comes at the expense of the other sides fun. Being in control is fun and inherently excluding in DBD.
Edit: Also, none of what you said mattered to the point of your thread about optimizing the hell out of a game.
That has been the go to standard in ANY game since the birth of global information sharing in the internet.
Be it PvE like Wow or any of the pvp titles i named you.
And to name another example from the asymmetrical cathegory for you: VHS and Friday 13th, where the teenager/counselor at first were scared of the killer until they noticed how to optimally play against the killer, leaving the latter powerless.
Edit2: Nvm, i just reread what you answered first in the quoted post. We lost all common ground for discussions.
You call a bully squad trying to incapacitate the killer with Headon and flashlights for as much as possible, playing hard hook denial, "memeing around and (fun) interacting".

Yes because one person's fun is different than another person's.....I had a Bully Squad that they had fun at the expense of tormenting me.... namely Head On into Purple flashlight blinds....it was a 4man all with the identical build....
Also when Killer goes fun meme build with no Gen Regression perks Gens fly and the Survivors leave asap....meaning no fun for Killer when match is over in 5+mins ...

No they changed that now they only last 40% from the 120% duration time. The batteries don't last that long now hence why they made the one battery add-on purple rarity....from what the Dev Update said I don't think the Haste buff will last all that long but we will have to see when it goes live.
