sounds one of those things that no action will be taken without recording of the game
Exactly all things like this requires video evidence because they can't just take someone's word on it

it's fine..some killer players can't win without tunneling or camping same way some survivors can't win if they aren't with their toolboxes on a gen because their looping is bad,,looking to pick a 3 gen from the start to camp is a whole other thing and should be reportable under the "refusing to progress the game" if you intent to drop chase as soon as people go away from the 3 gen but even if it never becomes reportable we all know 3 gen strats will be nerfed since the forums are boiling about them more than ever since skunk merchant got released
It can be reportable but from what I understand it's a case by case scenario.
Best example I can give is this ...
Killer either IDs the 3-Gen and keeps the Survivors away from it to ensure they make a 3-Gen mistake or the Survivors make the mistake themselves. The Killer then defends it but dosnt chase a Survivor or get baited away from the 3-Gen isn't reportable.
If the Killer refuses to chase and just hovers around the Gens just smacking Survivors that get too close is reportable.
Mind you that's just my understanding from various responses that Mandy and Penits have given so don't take it as full facts. Because like I said it's a case by case scenario and up to the report team if they consider it holding hostage or not.

Hi, I just want to pop in real quick and thank you all for the discussion around this, the effect on the perks is something that's being discussed and we're looking into a solution. As soon as we have more information we'll let you know.
I know you just popped in quickly Mandy and might not respond right away and that's fine I just wanted to try and understand why this was implemented so suddenly with out a proper PTB to see how things were working......
I also get BHVR wanted to bring screams and Survivor sounds to be about equal all across the board and I'm all for that it's just this sudden change without warning is what is making folks kinda upset and worried about the choices being made to better the game. I can't imagine how hard it is to balance the game and try to appease the masses....if the forums are any indication that is ummm yea lol.....

Bruh who asked for this?!
No one asked for this...it wasn't in the PTB from what I can tell and they just snuck it in the patch notes making it seem like a minor change.....

1.) Why should the killer care about the fun of the survivors? Do the survivors care the opposite way?
2.) "If u tunnel and camp you are bad". No, maybe your MMR is much lower than you can imagine. There is a reason even the best killers like Zaka tunnel every single game and this reason is not being bad or a bad person or whatever, they just havr accepted what the game is.
I will speak for myself: I play every single match for the win, I play competetive. Its not my fault the best strategy to win most of your matches is Gen-Tunneling on survivor- and Fast Kill on killer-side. I cant complain why survivors dont interact with chests and totems, why should they? Useless Objects who dont give u any progress to win. On the other side, I cant complain about killer which tunnel the weakling out asap for the same reason. You dont get the win for playing for 12 hooks, you win with kills.
This exactly.....until they give a buff to actually doing a hook spread then the best action for the most efficient way to play is sadly Camping and Tunneling.
-
Ok I don't remember any of these changes in the PTB so where the heck did they come from.....this is a major Nerf to all those perks and makes Camping and Tunneling worse because now Killers won't be able to tell who's the one that "screamed" unless they are so close to smell them.....
We definitely need a response from Mandy or Penits on why these changes were added

You're describing 'pressure'. The killer has injuring, downing, and hooking survivors as base kit. On top of that, killers have their power for free which usually involves some secondary objective or task for the survivors to do, even if that is just 'healing'. Powers are also unlimited use, unlike survivor items.
You also only have '3 survivors on gens' at the very start of the match. Once you get a down or even an injury, survivors naturally have other things they want or need to be doing.
I don't know where this mentality comes from that the killer's win condition only counts if 0 gens are ever completed. The gens are not the killer's primary objective, the survivors are. Gens are just a killer resource, and yes, you're likely going to lose a couple gens early as the game is getting started.
Having even 3 gens completed doesn't mean the game is '60%' over. Survivor objectives get harder as the game progresses because fewer gens tightens the play field, and people are hooked, injured, and in chase. Unless the killer is literally AFK there should never be 3 survivors 'free' to do gens after the first down. Killer objectives btw, get easier as the game progresses.
There already is a secondary objective in the game that revolves around totems. Both blessing and breaking totems are secondary objectives that the devs provided. People don't like that as an answer because it's beneficial for the survivors to do them. They're incentivised to do those with either buffs/boons or by removing hexes/debuffs.
What people usually mean when they say 'survivors need a second objective' is for them to be forced to do something that provides no benefit and doesn't progress the game. That's just 'being AFK'.
Killers Primary Objective is to Kill Survivors
Secondary Objective is Protect Gens From Being Repaired.
Survivors only have one objective...Repair Gens to escape. Totems would be at most considered a optional objective since they are not required to be done to complete the Main objective.
On most maps losing 3 gens in quick succession does usually mean the Killer will lose that match because the Gens would be so far apart trying to apply pressure would be very difficult unless the Killer goes for a 3-Gen Def or Survivors 3-Gen themselves.

Because having a bunch of abilities doesn't mean match when none of them are especially powerful.
-Good survivors literally don't care about darkness it's just a mild annoyance.
-The teleport loses a ton of impact when you're spending half the game breaking out of locked lockers.
-Their antiloop is decent but holding W isn't that hard and it's a 12 second cooldown.
Dredge is very decent but they can't do anything that crazy in terms of lethality and calling for a nerf for a killer that nobody plays is very odd.
Not to mention...LOCK LOCKERS....not all of them just one in a group and Dredge WILL to to the locked one....I don't know how many times I either see other survivors lock everything or nothing at all....

which doesn't mean they don't want to change it like most of you said, right?
my original post was about people's comments saying the devs never addressed tunneling, camping and slugging and that's totally not true. They've acknowledged these "strategies as not fun a few times already, and they're working on them.
Yes but acknowledging that they are unfun and working on them doesn't mean they will totally get rid of them.

@VoidOfMe said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3361052#Comment_3361052
they just released a ptb with an anti-slugging feature for us to try. They're definetly not so pro-camping/tunneling/slugging as you guys make it seem. They are and will still keep working on ways to addres these stuff. Nothing is set stone.
And it failed miserably too, hence why it was back shelved and taken back to the drawing board because it failed one of the three categories I said. Slugging helps create pressure in the match same goes with camping or tunneling to get down to 3v1 instead of 4v1.
The Devs themselves don't want to totally remove any of those but rather find ways that would give incentives not to. One of the best ways I have seen is make hooks count for something like giving a stacking buff/debuff for how many hooks the Killer gets.

I think they will, eventually.
They don't want their player base to feel like the game is not fun anymore. As soon as they see people are miserable to the point of leaving they will do anything they can to change it. They did it a lot of times before, we just tend to forget the changes they make upon our feedback, we kind of throw it under the rug and focus only on the bad things
We did complain about maps, they're reworking them, we complained about gen speed, they reworked them (maybe it didn't fix the problem? but they did rework them), we complained about flashlight clicks, they "removed" them, we complained about nurse, they reworked her, we complained about perks, they're always changing them, etc etc etc.
The game is in constant change, it's just a matter of being optimistic or pessimistic about it.
They probably won't do anything to totally remove Camping, Tunneling, or Slugging because they also said those are valid strats for Killers to use and it's a thin line because what ever Fix they do come up with, they don't want to punish those who use them correctly along with those who use them "toxicly" and they don't want the fix to become a abusable by either side

It is objective fact that the Killer experience is better now then it was many years ago though
Like there's no disputing it, it's a fact.
Yes Killer is easier now then before the buff update but then we have a issue of skill vs skill. A Killer could have a ton of easy or equal skill matches early but then the skill gap become huge and then all those buffs don't help at all
That's where I was as Killer, I reached a area where the Survivor's skill level outmatched mine and with the number advantage I never got more than one kill. With how match making is done ATM the likely chance of hitting that skill gap isuch greater now.
Also don't get me wrong I am not in denial of my skill level I'm was a casual player when I played and if you would rate my skill from 1-100 I'm sat around a 60 but that's if I played a A-Tier+ Killer and wanted to take my games more seriously.

Yea but any game that has a BP has some kind of exclusive skin....let's look at R6 Seige.... every BP has a exclusive skin you can't get normally and is gone after the pass is gone...now good thing is THIER BP lasts for like 3 months or so

I'd say the only time it wasn't meta was during the post-conspic nerf DS era. That perk actually punished tunnelling.
But then it got cut in half for no particular reason and now we're here.
I don't know why they nerfed time like they did I would of been happy it was disabled at end game but keep the stun time

This guy gets it. The developers love it. They think it is cool as can be. That is the only "power" a Killer really has in this game. To force at least 1 Survivor to have an awful experience each game sitting on the hook or crawling on the ground. If every single Killer played like that now and forever. Using the dirtiest tactics to make 1 persons experience simply abysmal, they'd have to change it, but BHVR is lucky.
They have Killers who play much more "fair" than they should/could. If you want the game changed, show the developers how badly their game is designed by doing what those Killers do. If you aren't trying to win at the game and just ruin 1 persons day, that really doesn't make for good game play on either side. The fact that it is allowed to happen is the root issue. Have more systems in place to make sure 1 person cannot be targeted constantly in your game.
I don't mean perks either. Actual mechanics of the game. Slugging, for example. Remove it. It serves no purpose.
Thay won't remove camping, Tunneling, or Slugging because those are valid strats to create pressure and they confirmed this. It's not the Killer players job to worry about anyone else's "fun" but their own.
The best way I have seen to help incentive for hooks is make Hooks actually count for something like a growing buff for them or debuff for Survivors.
I have turn matches around in my favor because of camping at end game or Slugging that one annoying looper and letting thier team waste time picking them up.

In Dead By Daylights lore The Entity powers it’s killers to be unstoppable monsters that do it’s bidding so we can assume they are more powerful/durable. What if survivors had a side mission where they can find parts of a weapon spread throughout the map and they can bring these parts to a randomly generated crafting table. Since the killers are powered by The Entity these weapons would only stun the killer, but it would be super effective since these weapons could stun the killer more than once. The survivors could craft axes, shanks or even more powerful creations like sawed off shotguns and revolvers.
What is everyone’s thought on this?
That's VHS like someone else said and that's why no one wants to play the monster. Once your hit by the weapon your stun locked and die quickly.

No as many said this isn't a game breaking bug and that's what this is. Also it's not the same as the Clown's bug that gave him permanent haste because this isn't any bug that a Spirit player can even create as it's a Bug with the Audio Occultation which again isn't a game breaking bug which is what the Killswitch was made for.

I'm aware they confirmed but most statements are from before they implemented the "force finish match" system so the question is, are those statement still valid? The user claims the statement saying its no longer bannable happened in a stream that is more recent than the comments.
For example, I shared this comment from peanits https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/1259979#Comment_1259979 and they claim its outdated as per what the devs supposedly said in a stream not long ago.
The Forced Match end system wouldn't affect survivors that are hiding. Also unless that streamer is a official DbD Dev then the last post made by Mandy and Penits IS the official ruling on the subject and until they say otherwise in a official statement then the Streamer is spreading misinformation.
-
@Decutor said:

What about 2 survivors hiding from the killer with no attempts to progress the match? Since the addition of "force ending a match", has anything changed in regards to that? As in, its no longer bannable?
Saw someone going around claiming it was mentioned in a recent stream that it was no longer bannable since the match will end after an hour and the killer can spend that time looking for the 2 survivors hiding (but they didn't provide a link). I haven't watched recent streams so I can't confirm or deny they are spreading misinformation.
They are spreading misinformation.....I can't find the post because my brain is shutting down due to needing sleep but Mandy and I believe Peanits both confirmed if the Survivors are hiding with no major progress to gens and avoiding afk crows that it is Holding the game hostage for the killer.
Now I'm not sure how much time needs to pass but it IS Bannable. Just because the match timer is lowered to 1 hr dosnt change it because up to until the match closes the Killer can't progress the match if he can't find them hiding in a far corner or locker hoping....

The very nature of the antagonists in The Village would make it hard to translate them into a killer, if my memory serves me well.

Naive courage would be too OP in my opinion. I Cannot Bear It sounds strong, I like it. Warning Bells I'm not too fond of, as Guardian already does this well enough.
But yeah, I have no idea of a killer power fitting the antagonists.
(Also, and I get why you didn't make her a survivor, but I think it's a bit undermining the main character to not make her a survivor, instead putting a rather background-ish character that's more bark than bite)
It wouldn't... all the monster was is a thing to keep people in the village and not know about the outside world. It really wasmt ment as a Killer at all just a deterrent.
Overall it wouldn't make story sense for The Entity to chose it since there was no malice behind it.

I've been thinking how we could make the SoloQ experience better with info, and i have some suggetions:
- Make possible to see other people perks in the "Esc" screen, with the active perks highlighted (as it can be seen in the active hud individually), so we know when someone have Unbrekable, Soul Guard, Deliverance (this one is the most important), and etc. This could really save some time, like, just letting the hooked use Deliverance instead of crossing the whole map to save.
- Add self ping and target ping to survs. This way we could ping where we are doing gens, cleasing hexes, etc. A target ping would be nice to coordinate saves while some stay doing gens/healing
- Add a quick chat options, with some phrases like "Go", "Don't Come" "Come here" "Let me heal you" "I can do it myself" etc, so we would be better to coordinate.
I know some people are mad because of SoloQ being buffed, but i think that making SoloQ better is just a way to game more healthier overall, as 50%+ of the playerbase is composed by SoloQ players, and its unfair to leave SWF so much strong than soloQ (and its impossible to nerf SWF)
After this, i believe we could have some buffs to the weaker killers powers, and have a better game overall.
Any more info buff suggestions for SoloQ ?
Now I'm on the fence for seeing your teammates perks but definitely a quick wheel system would be a good step but for right now I say they see how the Killer/Escape rate change with the new HUD features.
Because we don't want to give so much info to Survivors and it dramatically lowers the Killer rate making Killer feel "weak" again. These are slippery slopes that too much in either direction would mean one side will feel weak or be a miserable experience than the other.

For some reason the community just assume all survivors would immediately toss their teammates under the bus so they can zoom zoom away

Body blocking is okay for both, unless you mean either genuine hostagetaking bodyblocking or "I got you in a corner at 4 gens left but I'm just gonna keep you here to kill you with EGC" which has repeatedly been declared undesirable gameplay to the point of being reportable by BHVR people on this very forum.
Taking hits for teammates? Fine. Catching someone in a corner and keeping them there while charging up a power hit, or getting ahead of a survivor to block a pallet/window? Also fine.
The difference is that unless it involves some map exploit where a survivor can block a killer in a way that changes it, the killer always has a way to stop being bodyblocked - hitting the survivor. That's not the case for survivors, if a killer blocks them there is no way to get free without the killer's "cooperation".
I usually toy with them if I pinned them in a corner but eventually will let them go. I never was a sweat killer but more of a meme style mess with you a bit...but when somehow I got EZ Baby Killer comments or constant bully squads that stopped repairing Gens to farm me and how the current meta has unchanged for Survivors I have taken a long break....been about 4+ months now.

Camping and Tunneling are used by players of all skill levels because to help midigate the game then it's best to make it a 3v1 instead of a 4v1 as soon as possible. Why do killers go out of their way to make survivors life miserable for no reason. I get it survivors can be toxic and teabag and taunt you. But there are so many games where the killer was toxic to me for no reason. Some of the time my friends ran the killer too hard and i was the only one they could catch. Then they would hit me repeatedly on hook and shake their head up and down. For what? Cause your having a skill issue? There are times were ive had games were i was slugged to death sitting right underneath the hook. Once again for what?? You won why make me stay in the match longer? Then those people who slug everyone on the ground to death. These are unnecessary things that some killers are doing. Just end the match. Some of these matches i feel they want to make survivors dc and get enjoyment out of it. The only reason i dont dc anymore is to not have a penalty. I honestly wish there was a surrender button especially for those moments were the match is clearly over. I discourage my friends from being toxic to killers who did nothing extra to us. So why do some many fogwhispers and killer mains encourage being toxic but when its the other way around yall like to cry about it. Im not gonna lie im not a positive person but i remember how it feels to be teabagged by survivors who beat me so why would i do the same thing to a killer when im playing survivor. Im used to being tunneled and camped but the holding the game hostage is too much for me. Dont leave me slugged under a hook just kill me.
Ok I responded to you in another post and I'll say it again Bleeding Out and Slugging Survivors is NOT holding the game hostage as the game will end after the Bleedout Timer is done.

This whole community is hypocritical. The killers cry and complain together about being "bullied" but dont have any sympathy for survivors. But so many survivors have sympathy for killers. I wonder when thats gonna run out. Most of these people are purposely missing the point that you were held hostage in a game. Even though that a bannable. They are pulling any excuse they can to be biased. They brought you being solo q even though you werent. They are once again obessing about dead hard when the post isnt about dh. They are bringing up "denying a killer bloodpoints" when i guess no one scares about survivors bloodpoints or pips. Honestly they are just creating a bigger divide
If they were being bleed out on the ground that's not being held hostage the game will end once the bleed out bar is empty and that's the understanding I got from OPs post so it's NOT a bannable offense.
Lately I have seen so many people use the term "Being Held Hostage" for situations that are not and that only will bog down the reporting system with false claims making it HARDER and LONGER to get actual offenders reported and banned.
Also note before some says "Well it's targeted harassment" it's not because OP would have to prove the Same Killer Player targeted them over multiple games.
I'm the end it was multiple things that led to this....OP said someone already DCed during the match and if OP was trying to Hookcide themselves but we're rescued then the Killer had enough and went to Slug mode and nope mode. Is it annoying yes but it's also annoying when so many Survivors will DC or Hookcide when the game isn't going thier way and that gets very annoying to Killers.

There's not much they can really do though, is there? They can try and buff the killer a bit before release but besides that they're not gonna completely scrap and redo an entire chapter, they've gotta just push on with it and then focus on the next one.
Hopefully they've learnt some lessons on what not to do for future releases but what realistically are you expecting them to do? Say "Sorry that people don't like this chapter, oh well?"
Ummm refer to my post talking about Eruption a few responses above......they haven't and probably never will because of the reasoning I gave above.
BHVR will do what THEY think is right for THEIR game. Sometimes it will work out and sometimes it's the worst idea ever. But as the people getting the privilege to play the game we have to live with BHVR's choices and hope they eventually listen to the people from time to time.

If this is the most backlash the game has ever received the developers deserve a massive round of praise.
Weak killer: fixable and you don't have to touch the killer if it isn't
Bad aesthetic: debatable, I've seen the cosmetics that are popular
Bad lore: an annoyance, but if this is the worst lore they've written after 61? total characters, good on them

I'll echo some other posts that the idea of this being backlash is a bit weird. Saying you aren't interested in the chapter, sure. The reason they aren't going to respond is really soon they are going to have solid data on how well it sells/is played. They'll care far more about that.
But the backlash isn't weird though....unless you count the folks that are disliking this chapter because "Its not a robot Killer" then yes I agree.
But many dislike it because the killer's power is extremely weak and she is a basic M1 Killer I'm a era where M1 Killers are utter jokes unless they have something to help in chases. Her zoning potential is extremely limited combined with the fact Survivors can SEE the zone the Drones cover makes them a non threat as every survivor I seen run around the zone to avoid the drones.
Her overall design looks more like something out of Apex or Fortnite and that bothers a lot of people....at least The Trickster has more of a DbD feel, but Skull Merchant is too clean to be chosen by The Entity.
Her Lore is full of plot holes and is very random at times and I love reading the Lore of the Characters

They got tons of feedback about every part of the chapter. From her lore, her visuals and sound design all the way to her power people have explained their issues with the Skull Merchant. Sometimes we, as a community, are very passionate and come across as harsh when voicing our oppinions but that is because we care and we want this game and BHVR to do good. We all know that the devs can do way better than this mess of a chapter and that is why there is so much critique.
BHVR have never been the best at communication but how hard can it be to say something like: "We have gathered a lot of feedback and are currently looking into it. You can expect some changes to X in the near future." ?
I mean what do you expect....look how as a community we came up with good ways to adjust Eruption to make it a better perk for both sides to make everyone happy but then all of a sudden BHVR brings out the Nuked version of it.....
As a community we can voice our concerns make suggestions but at the end of the day they can and will ignore us to go with what they think is the right way to go. Does that work....yes sometimes it does with no backlash but other times no it fails miserably.

No, they say neither is "taking you hostage". And they aren't. The definition of taking someone hostage in this game is that you are forced to stay in a match indefinitely.
You just attributed that phrase to not being able to play.
You are not bodyblocked in a corner unable to do anything.
Hanging on hook has a definitive end and is part of the gameplay loop. Same with chasing, even when the killer tunnelvisions you out.
And what you want is perks for survivor that let them fight the killer on eye level in certain scenarios while also saying "swf wouldn't waste a perk slot" on something like a 10 second stun DS.
But newsflash, they would with pleasure since it makes their games easier. Swf already ran old DS+UB+BT+DH regularly. According to you they wouldn't do that because they can cover for each other. Pfffft, dream on.
I wouldn't try to explain it burt0r I think responded to Op at least once with the explanation of what "Holding Hostage" was and was ignored....OP will just call Camping and Tunneling what they want to.

Well then without those specific add-ons he is a basic ass M1 killer with faster map traversal and shouldn't be a problem at all for slightly experienced survivor, right?
Yup that's why I stopped maining him and made him and Hag my Meme based Killers....as long as a Survivor is paying attention to thier surroundings Wraith is fairly easy to spot and get away from.
