But that goes back around to: design a perk that counters tunnelling, isn't a free lifeline to do whatever to the point that if the rescuer can't be downed there's no pressure, and doesn't benefit the team by being used as a weapon.

Best option I saw someone suggested was the one unhooked loses all collision until they do a conspicuous action or get healed by any source. and it's disabled during emd game. This would prevent Tunneling for the most part and prevent body blocking by the unhooked.

  • @Tjiani said:

Lmao.. I reach red rank every reset, so I fail to see why I would be in low MMR? Even really skilled DBD streamers with thousands of hours in the game are giving up on Solo and go for SWF or survive with viewers to stand a fair chance. Solo is almost dead, and everyone denying it are lying to themselves. Killer mains sit on this forum and cry about strong SWF teams every chance they get, but when Solo Survivors are trying to adress the issues that makes them avoid Solo, they get attacked and told they should stop playing, that they are just ######### at playing or they are low rank. You go play Solo if you think it's that much fun then?

Ranks have nothing to do with MMR just the amount of time you played. Ranks and matchmaking went away long ago

How is tunneling not being prevented from playing? If you go down fast with Iri Hatches, A strong nurse or a Meyers, just to be tunneled right off hook? With the DS nerf it's almost impossible to escape the killer if a teammate is not willing to step in and take a hit or distract long enough for you to get away. The DS is useless with the 3 second stun

It's not because the match WILL END. Holding hostage is like a Killer or Survivor pinning a player in so they can't move or survivors refusing to do gens because of a 3-Gen or waiting for the other survivor to die so they can get the hatch.....that's holding hostage.

Now 3-Gens are a case by case scenario if the Killer is holding the game hostage. But camping and Tunneling are NOT holding the game hostage

  • @Tjiani said:

It's still preventing someone else from playing the game. From doing nothing at all the entire match. And I fail to see why a person who WANTS to play the game, should pay the price for someone who decides to be toxic for no reason at all

But it's not holding the game hostage because the game WILL end when Hook Timer reaches zero.

Now unless OP was facing Bubba each game then face camping isn't the best strategy especially at early game.

From what this sounds like is boiling down to bad teammates not knowing what to do during a camping situation.

I wouldn't say Spirit requires as much skill as a Hillbilly. Spirit is often who I recommend to friends just starting Killer as you can learn her basics much faster and you don't bang your head into a wall as much trying to get the power to pay off, similar to someone like Hillbilly. More often than not you can just use her power on a YOLO and you find someone.

It really isn't too skill intensive to play her at a decent level. I think many people overestimate how hard she is to play. She is much easier to chase with in comparison to any other Killer without a teleport honestly. I agree at the higher level of course, but against "average" Survivors (which is the majority of the DBD community), you can play Spirit pretty badly and still come out on top simply due to how much ground she gains when in her power.

Best way to learn Billy is play Oni first since both rushes are similar but Oni dosnt cancel charge if he hits something. Good way to learn pathing and where the power works and dosnt....

And? I'm not saying they should've done a half-finished PTB, I'm saying that their closed testing is obviously not up to par, given how many really obvious things they're missing. It doesn't need to be full public testing, they just need to get a little more external input before finalising something and pushing it out the door.

Obvious things like "Survivors shouldn't be told they're being tracked" would easily be picked up if they could get a dozen trusted and reasonably skilled players to try it out and give input.

Or this trend of telling Survivors the full area of effect of Killer powers allowing them to avoid the area completely or to use the Killers power to it's fullest the Survivors have to interact with it....

  • @Emeal said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3350678#Comment_3350678

But thats not a PTB, its a closed test build. Like they do Internally.

And that there is a issue..... internally they tested it and thought it was all good to put into the PTB...those were not regular players who play the game from recreational play to competitive play. Heck we have had players suggest good changes to perks and abilities but get ignored and then said perks and abilities get nuked into oblivion.

BHVR dosnt do enough quality testing to see how a chapter will be received by the players because they can't risk leaks to occur, but they do need to read these forums and understand how disappointed we are about her as a whole from design to her God awful walking animation to her very lack luster power.

  • I'll correct you...I believe your wording is too high brow for these forums folks....high brow intelligent posts go over people's heads and you need to put more insults in there.....then maybe they will take you seriously.....

I agree....but also agree SM needs something more to her basekit because as it stands now...it's lacking. It's needs something.....and get rid of that awful walk of hers....it's so unnatural

  • Yes but they shouldn't be as weak as how her Kit is....we need a good medium ground around high B to A tier Killer so we can have variety

  • @versacefeng said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3347746#Comment_3347746

People are probably fixed on her design because they were expecting something that wasn’t promised. You’d think that the community knows that the devs don’t like to think inside the box when it comes down to the types of characters they add to the game.

I hate her look the same reason as Trickster's look butuch worse. Both of their looks don't fit the "Killer" look we have come to expect in DbD.....yes we need more Killers you wouldn't expect be a Killer style look to give variety but that can be achieved through cosmetics.

Another reason why I hate her look is because it looks like she was pulled straight from Fortnight....

Now yes I was hoping for a robot Killer but I know BHVR doesn't do the obvious choice so I kept my expectations low to a Killer with cybernetic parts which I admit she does check.....

  • @Piruluk said:

Its true but desired by the playerbase to play as.

I mean most popular playstyle is gen defense.

Because sadly with map design, Gen speed perks, and toolboxes with BNP Gens will fly without some sort of Gen Defense..... either by Killer Power or Perks.

The Skull Merchant really doesn't have the power to fully defend a Gen outside of commiting to a 3Gen

  • @Chadku said:

We have a regression perk that at it's best can delete 8.9s of gen progress.

We have a perk that regresses almost 10% gen progress when a generator is a second away from finishing.

I'm expecting nerfs to Jolt for it suddenly being no.1 in any loadout.

@Malkhrim Eruption wouldn't have been used even with it's buff if BHVR hadnt nerfed Pop & Ruin specifically to make a licensed killer's perk more worthy.

Bad part is Jolt is very situational because you may not be around a Gen with progress for it to be used on....

  • @Regulus47 said:

    Good.

I know it sounds harsh, but there are plenty of other alternatives for slowdown if players feel like they need it. Pain res, DMS, jolt, overcharge, COB, deadlock, pop, merciless, gift of pain, plaything+pentimento, thana+dying light, even ruin is still pretty underrated when mixed with surveillance or undying. The Devs seem to finally be taking the game towards a place where gen slowdown doesn't need to rule the meta anymore, and that should be celebrated.

Maybe we can consider tweaking E-crutch-on back to being strong in the future, but I don't blame the Devs for taking the nuclear option to ensure eruption was out of the meta, kinda like old Legion. In its place, I'd be happy if Pop was buffed a bit. For the most part, Pop was healthy, it rewarded quick hooks and not camping. Eruption rewarded camping a 3-gen and slowly whittling away at the survivors until the servers shut down.

Only because of the Hindered effect that it rewarded the 3-Gen. The nuke option should never be the case because that's not balancing the game that's we don't know how to fix it so we will destroy it as a usable perk

I dunno how much you've been reading and where other than the forums you've been reading it, but people are definitely mad about her appearance.

Anyway, like I said, I'm not gonna comment on her balance until I've gotten to actually play a match.

Yea the only things I have seen have been people saying she looks like a Fortnight character....which she does sadly.

  • @jesterkind said:

I agree! Her balancing is something I'll not comment on before I've actually gotten to play her in a match against actual humans, but everything else about her + the new map visuals + most other things in the PTB absolutely rules.

I get not being a fan of her on a personal level but this backlash is wildly exaggerated for no reason. I like this chapter a lot!

The backlash isn't the visuals or anything like that her play style is very weak. Her drones make her feel like Hag or Trapper 2.0. The drones themselves are not a threat unless a Survivor disables them or is blind to the blatant scanner range.

  • @Pulsar said:

    She's pretty, I guess.

I mean, I could argue the same thing about eruption only incapacitating 1 survivor and not all 4. But it still needed to get gutted I guess?

But to be perfectly honest. I don't even mind distortion as it is, like I said this was a vent post.

No it needed the status effect removed and then it would of been fine.....what we got was scorched earth protocol.

I anticipate we will see more regression perk nerfs. I do think they’ll touch some of the progression perks but to be honest those aren’t the core issue. Gens are going too fast because of map design mainly, the progression perks just make it a little worse. I do agree that “current progress” is awful design. Anything they put current progress on is basically a dead perk.

In an ideal world we’d have map designed fixed so that we could tone all the gen regression down, but unfortunately fixing all the maps is like a multi year venture. So strong gen regression is going to need to stay for quite a while.

Now that there’s basically no regression of value left other than Jolt and PR those usages are going to skyrocket as everyone just defaults to them since there’s no other options. This will in turn get those nerfed as well.

They need to do less nerfing and more buffing so that we can have a wide range of viable perks in the meta. They keep nerfing things and keeping the list of viable perks extremely small.

Yea I agree Maps are major cause of speedy Gens but sadly I predict we'll get more maps like Garden of Pain and Borgo....we need good med size maps as the largest map size.

  • @Blueberry said:

Both perks are fine, the gen kick meta is already dead with Eruption.

Yea but what worries me is how the upcoming Perk Shakeup Pt. 2 will look like. They touched all Gen Slowdown and Regression perks but left Gen Speed Perks alone. If trends continue we might see more "Nerfs" to regression perks but the speed perks will be untouched.

Also who ever came up with Off Current Progress needs to be taken out back and beat with a cartoonish large tuna and smacked a few times.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think people have to understand that the devs are being honest when they say that they take a quantitative and qualitative approach to balance. People keep talking about DH and Eruption as if they are somehow these equal things that need to be treated equally.

We don't have the numbers in front of us. There exists the possibility that there is a very good reason Eruption got annihilated and Dead Hard did not. Entertain the possibility that Eruption was wildly swinging kill rates for players and DH is not having that same effect. Just because there is a perception in the community about a perk does not make it fact. They address things that are thought to be unfun, but not before they address things that are unfun and balance issues.

I know some contrarian will jump in here trying to be clever and re-state my second paragraph about Dead Hard instead of Eruption, but my point still stands. There's probably a reason they addressed Eruption the way they did and it probably boils down to data.

Here is the bigger issues with Eruption. Yes we do t have the same numbers as the Devs have about stats and yes maybe Eruption was increasing the Killer rate too much......but they made changes that no one even was asking for and nuked Eruption into the ground. Making it such a low Regression going off of Current Progress is mind boggling because you'll need a Gen be at like 70% for it to make any notable difference.

BHVR if you dont do something to fix the camping tunneling meta you will lose all your surv players. This is crazy, 7 games in a row im almost done playing this game!

They'll never get rid of camping and Tunneling because those are legit strats to use and they said they have to be careful to make something that can't be abused by either side and something that dosnt punishes those who use them correctly vs those who uses them toxic

How is it not balanced? Both perks have direct counters that take no skill or effort to do.

I think they are talking about Eruption

  • @FMG15 said:

They need to nerf the range of Nowhere To Hide aside from that the perk is fine. You still require a gen that you can kick. CoB is the easiest perk to counter so that perk needs no treatment at all. The devs should look at Overcharge though. Why is the skillcheck staying when the gen regressed to 0? Makes no sense to me.

The skill check is also if information gathering at that point.

  • What they did to Eruption is not a balance fix it's a full on scorched earth policy

  • @EntitySpawn said:

I'm talking about actual killer buffs and not perk buffs, while perk buffs would be nice to increase the range of usefulness and meta perks I see I dont see that happening with the current way BHVR has gutted killer perks that hit the meta stage.

The main reason I'm asking this is due to the game becoming more stale over time, with perks getting gutted I see less and less range used and theres been many killer nerfs which has resulted in hardly seeing those killers as well.

With all this happening I see a small range of killers and a small range of perks, while the change I'm MMR (ages ago) made it so it wasnt just nurse/blight but I'm still seeing so few of the roster.

Whether it's a small change with addon updates or a bigger change I'd like to see some love given to certain killers so I can actually verse them making matches less repetitive.

I rarely see: wraith, doc, billy, slinger, hag, twins, trickster, clown, pig, onryo, freddy, Ghostface.. theres probably more but without checking the roster i couldn't say and that's how rare these killers are getting. While some are more rare than others you get the points.

Small suggested changes just to help or just make the killers feel better to play.

Wraith - make his lunge a little bigger after uncloack. He has no ability at most tiles, and hit n run is way harder with the new HUD.

Doc - range addon base, could do discipline base instead but I dont see them doing the purple addon base. Just to help his power feel less addon dependant.

Billy - I dont really know at this point, very small % faster charge time? Even curve billy isnt a threat to good loopers but over do it and billy is too much

Slinger - either change the terror radius or add back quick scoping. He was over nerfed and for a 110% killer who cant down over alot of loops especially when the pallets down he needs something. Personally I like the quick scope, that was more fun for killers and would bump his pick rate (plus mmr is a thing so casuals will verse casual aiming)

Hag - no idea, dont think shes good beyond camping hooks but how not sure how to buff that wouldn't over do it.

Twins - firstly dont nerf them because some 0.1% player is good with them, we dont balance for the top remember... maybe give Charlotte a speed boost of hitting with victor, this makes getting to down players easier. Remove the victor cant do anything for ages after a hit you over did it and feels clunky for killers.

Trickster - make it console friendly. Remove the recoil and sway, its twice as hard for a controller if not more so. Your limiting who plays him and as someone who always went for heavy weapons with high recoil in shooters and is always towards the top of the ranks etc. I cant stand the trickery recoil.

Clown - make his bottles separate ammo, reloading reload both.

Pig - faster crouch, slight ms increase when charging the power so you loose less distance.

Onryo - old newspaper basekit, tvs turn on faster at the start and turn back on faster after being used.

Freddy - remove the immunity to dream world, this is stupid a survivor can completely nullify for X duration and the killer cant do anything about it and is left the weakest state out of every killer in game. Change the addons again, make it so they arent all "in dream only"

All stealth killers - immune to the new HUD chase, kinda stupid a stealth killer is now weaker because everyone can see who's being chased

Just make Docs King and Queen basekit and make new iris that will fix him.....jokes aside Hag needs some love maybe a slight speed increase, it's been a few months so I forgot all her addons.

  • I would give it time. The Devs want to see how the dust settles after the Hud changes and the next perk upset....after all that then MAYBE Killers will get some love....and I hope they start with the poor Killers that have left in the cold lol

It's not total trash? It has a different use. Use it on plague, oni, spirit, blight, nurse, even billy. See how useless it is

It is don't forget the Killer still has to down a Survivor to activate it....so now said Killer has to make a choice hook the downed Survivor or leave them slugged to MAYBE catch the Survivor that would be stupid enough to stay at the Gen. So unless the down is close enough that 10s with worthless even on said Killers.....still don't know why you said Vommy Mommy since her power is a travel based power like the other you mentioned.....I was for sure you would say Aura Huntress....

You do know most unhooked Survivors purposely body block the killer to tank the hit for the unhooker....I never tunneled off hook but have been blamed by said survivors all the time because I hit them when I was going for the unhooker.

Ah yes, the famous 7 month long "knee jerk" reactions. They overbuffed a perk that already synergized too well with other kicking gens. They reverted their mistake. Simple as that. Btw people were pointing out it would become a huge problem already back then when the perk overhaul was presented, it's not something new.

I didn't say it was anything new if you actually read what I posted I said the only thing everyone was complaining about was the status effect....not it's synergy with other Kicking perks....not it's regression.....the Hindered effect.

Hindered made Eruption way too strong and a very unhealthy perk in general and that's what made it work so well with other Kicking perks because Survivors couldn't do anything to stop the regression.

And they didn't take back anything they made it worse than what it was before the meta shake up.

  • The truly sad part is the Devs promised no more Knee Jerk reactions to anything and what they did to Eruption was just that a Knee Jerk reactions and over nerfed a perk that the only thing wrong with it was the status effect and not the regression.

Everyone who complained about Eruption was complaining about the Hindered effect but now we have a "New" Eruption that has no Hindered effect (actually love that part) and now a 10% regression off of CURRENT progress which let's face it means diddly squat unless the Gen is 75%+ and that's if you can actually get to/find that Gen. Oh let's not forget it gives us now 10s of reading which again means nothing unless you have a travel power to get to said Gen.....

I know the Devs have a lot to take care of and I appreciate it all but PLEASE listen to the actual players who experience it first hand ...

  • @Firellius said:

I don't think it's fine. Even if Eruption is still usable after the nerfs, the problem is that the community points out a specific issue, and then BHVR goes scorched earth on everything in a five mile radius of said issue. Again.

Right no one said the issue was the regression part of it just the Hindered effect because it made it overtuned....now it's just a meh perk

Also, there could be 200% or 300% bonus for playing Killers that aren't touched.
