    It's impossible to say.

Personally, the only thing that will kill DBD is DBD.

Or another Asymmetrical Game like DbD that doesn't kill itself or is actually fun....Evil Could of been that but that game is so unbalanced that it makes DbD like it's in perfect harmony....

I have literally never read a post regarding some of those topics I bring up, where mental health was the focus or concern.

They’ve been mostly about balance and survivors being frustrated about said topics (Camping/Tunnel focus someone out, BM and post chat threats).

So when you say “It shouldn’t be necessary” well actually it’s never been the case to begin with. I would take a threat of someone being told to end their life more serious than a time-limited skin argument for the sake of mental health, which no one (unless they are a doctor) should be trying to give unsolicited advice on anyway.

I get why FOMO is such a bad thing and I do hate companies that do it, but that's when the cosmetics are a ONE TIME ONLY. I hate missing out on a cosmetic that I know I can't get it ever again. Rainbow Six Seige and Fortnight are notorious of that

But in BHVRs case they specifically said that the cosmetics will be back next year like EVERY OTHER game that has seasonal cosmetics.

But I pose a question....what happens to these folks that are afraid of FOMO if BHVR decided to close the servers down and shut down the game....will they try and get their money back because they think BHVR owes them something or will they just go meh and move on?

Really? 4 survivors can't beat a 3-gen? I think we know who's complaining about 3-gens, calling them uncounterable then. It's certainly not Demogorgon or Pyramid Head's abilities that are holding it down.

I didn't say they can't beat a 3-gen because I have had matches as Survivor where we did because Killer made mistakes. But rather it can be done to protect a 3-Gen from 4 Survivors, it's all about who has the better skills at the end of the day....if Survivors have better skills then they beat it but if Killer does then they can't....

Crazy how instant the assumption is that someone doesn't know how to play a killer when they're asking for buffs, let alone stating their weakness.

It's not about boring vs not boring. That argument is the biggest nothing sandwich these forums have ever concocted. It's about what the killer can do to get the survivors. It's why nobody ever complains about Demogorgon or Wraith, because if the survivors are good, they just can't touch 'em.

That's the thing like Dredge or Nurse they play differently than other killers because of the TP mechanic. Hag like many have said is similar to Trapper as she's a setup Killer but is set up in a web pattern.

What she needs buffed on is allowing her traps to still be hidden even on bright maps like Cornfields or Ormond....that's what really makes her "weak" on bright maps her traps stand out like a beacon in the night and can easily be "countered"

  • @AMOGUS said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3287668#Comment_3287668

Yeah, and that destroys her power. People have told me "OH, HAG IS REALLY GOOD CUZ SHE CAN TELEPORT TWICE AND DOWN SOMEONE RUNNING AWAY" Like, no, that requires a web, and if a single Survivor sets them off and then loops you while you chase them, that's ggs.

Hag is web reliant. That results in 3 gens with all 4 Survivors alive, and 4 Survivors can easily conquer a 3 gen simply because there's too many people for the Killer to handle if they pressure the gens correctly.

She can camp good? So what? This community hates camping, why defend it on a Killer who needs it? People don't like Knight and how he needs to camp for kills because of his bad his power is...

I hate to break it to you I held off 4 survivors from a 3-gen lock easily as Hag, Vommy Mommy, Demo Puppy, Pyramid Head, and Crow Mama....it's not that difficult if you know what your doing and know how to apply pressure.

That's why so many Survivors try to call a Killer that can hold a 3-Gen lock "Holding The Game Hostage"

  • @hiken said:

u dont know how to play hag, hag is played around ton of camping she is boring AF to verse if she is good. but not great if survivors know what to do.

She can be really fun as the Jumpscare Queen as she is. When I play as her it's not to win but to have fun and try out new things.

Using Severed Ear and the Shackles makes for a fun combo to place near Gens most Survivors may not notice they are deaf until they miss a skill check or almost miss it. Then the scare they get when you just appear behind them and grab them off a Gen is priceless.

But I get that not everyone may like her or as you said find her boring. Just as I don't like Billy because most maps are not tuned to handle his power or Bubba being a very boring Killer to play.

I'm fine with not everything being available with shards.

But paying with auria cells should be a privilege that removes constraints of grinding enough shards to buy the same cosmetic.

That privilege is gone since you will have to wait a whole year now. Does it makes you want to spend money like this? I don't think so.

No not really because again they will be available next year and paying with real money or in-game makes no difference and shouldn't give any time of advantage if using cells or shards

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285802#Comment_3285802

I think that's part of the problem that leads to so many people not getting why it's a shady tactic. They aren't susceptible to FOMO tactics in general, so to them it's just a matter of "oh, well you could wait anyway, so why does it matter?" Without direct experience of it or a good working knowledge of psychology and marketing (and the psychology involved in marketing in particular), it doesn't seem like anything noteworthy. Sales just seem like something that attracts more customers because things are cheaper--but it's not just about elastic demand like that.

That's the thing I do understand but only when there IS something to lose as in once it's gone it's gone forever if BHVR was doing that ibwould agree with the shady biasness tactics....but when they specifically said that the cosmetics are coming back next year then to me it's not FOMO or underhanded.

With that being said it's a buy now or just wait til it comes back around. We don't know how the prices will change or if shards will be a option but a company needs to make money either buy selling new copies of a game, expansions, dlc, or cosmetics so we shouldn't expect EVERYTHING to be made to use shards.

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285786#Comment_3285786

Nah, it's still FOMO. A lot of mobile games actually work like this--whatever it is that is currently on sale has a very high chance of coming back later (up to being certain in some cases), but they still run the limited sale tactics. Because it's not "will it be back ever!", it's "If you don't get it, you're missing out for longer than the human brain is good at handling". A year is a very long unit of time for our primitive, panicky, greedy brains to wrap their head around.

Plus, bad impulse control and a lack of patience tend to go hand in hand. The people who'd be worst at waiting another year for a chance are therefore the ones who're most susceptible to FOMO in the first place.

Eh I guess my brain isn't wired like that.

  • @ByeByeQ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285476#Comment_3285476

Up until this recently passed Halloween DbD didn't have time-limited sales on cosmetics and once they released cosmetics in the store they were there to stay.

Time-limited sales are a method (in some opinions scummy) to increase sales on the affected items by inducing FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) in their customers.

That's not really that bad in and of itself (at least in my opinion) but they are not just applying it to new cosmetics. They are taking old cosmetics that in some cases have already been in the store for years and turning them into time-limited, seasonal items. For example, the ugly sweaters.

But it's not FOMO....they have specifically said they will be back next year though.

It's not like other games that do limited time cosmetics that once they are gone they are gone forever. But Heroes does that all the time with their monthly purchase bonus that is only available for that month and once it's gone it's gone forever.

The only time BHVR has had cosmetics that were out and now gone forever was the Stranger Things cosmetics but that's not on them but Netflix.

I am so disappointed. I love the cosmetic side of the game and I don't care if I have to purchase auric cells or just use shards. But this type of stuff really turns me off. Why do you even have to do this? What's the point? Could you at least explain that to your consumers?

What are you talking about other games do that with seasonal stuff all the time. It makes no sense selling a Winter Event cosmetic in the middle of summer...unless is a Christmas in July scenario.....

But calling BHVR Scummy or accusing them of lying when so many other companies do the exact same thing some DONT EVEN BRING THEM BACK. Mandy and the game post says they will be back next year.

A killer who say changes to Lightborn because they see flashlights is probably not the best killer anyway.

I don't think this is a big issue at all and other than to be annoying I never bother changing anything based on what I see survivors bringing. Though I will tend to tunnel out someone who last second switches to anything, it isn't the item either but rather the dirty tactic of switching that annoys me and will make me punish them for it

You can't even say that....with how some impossible blinds happen a Good Killer player may just not want to deal with it and if it's a 4 flashlight bully squad any Killer with a brain cells will put Lightborn on just to avoid the headache....

I'm a midrange decent Killer player and have had times where I would get blinded by survivors NOT within my FoV while I'm looking right at a wall. So if I don't feel like dealing with multiple flashlights in a single game Lightborn will be put on.

Ok, it seems like avoiding Flashlight-Saves IS rocketscience.

You do the turn before the pickup. Or, as I said, dont pick someone up if someone else is nearby. In the end, the person slugged on the ground and the one hovering around for the Save are also two people not on Gens...

But what if the flash lighter is bait and the downer has unbreakable or a random runs in and uses a syringe?

    Inquiring minds must know......

    *Let's out a evil laugh*

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3281732#Comment_3281732

If you know someone is nearby, you can hit them instead of picking up. And regarding pickups, a 180-turn should also do enough that the Survivor does not get into position.

Really, it is not rocketscience to avoid a Flashlight-Save, Flashlights are still the weakest Item by far and it was more like a Killer-Buff, because now even more Survivors try for Flashlight-Saves and dont bring Medkits instead...

But how do you do a 180 turn while in a animation lock from the pickup?

  • @MisterMister said:

Why are there no Generators in the basement? Generally a generator is located in a basement, but no gens are there. If they put a Gen in the basement that would supply the power of two gens would it it be worth it to do it? 5 gens normally, but if you completed the basement Gen it would count as two, or the basement Gen would count as one, but would also spawn an early hatch if completed. That would be cool.

No because then if they added that there would be no basement hooks. Basement Hooks are the only hooks that can't be sabo or broken.

That would give a major advantage to Survivors while majorly hindering Killers. While also making it harder to do Scourge Hooks (if RNG is not on the Killers side)

  • 360s are being done not to force a swing early but to mess with the Aim Dressing of Killers attacks. When a survivor 360s it tricks the Aim Dressing to force the Killers attack to move to where it "thinks" the Survivor is at even though the Killer is aimed at the Survivor I'm question.

That's why a Killer whiffs the attack or hits a random wall or object.

  • @Veinslay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3281026#Comment_3281026

I agree. I can't believe that they consciously raised gen repair times to try to balance the game and then introduced Hyperfocus that allows you to solo a generator at 50 seconds extremely easily and do sub 50 seconds with some skill at hitting great skill checks. They must not have even considered the toolbox and Stakeout synergy.

And players are wondering why Camping and Tunneling has become worse

  • @Veinslay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3280988#Comment_3280988

Hyperfocus is also firmly in the meta. Hyperfocus/Stakeout paired with the new Fogwise perk is the primary build for at least one survivor in every lobby that I'm facing it feels like.

They lowered slowdown perks because they increased Gen times but never touched repair speed perks and now adding more makes it worse than before. If a Killer doesn't Stack full slowdowns or tunnel/camp they will lose because of map size and layout sadly.

A Killer who plays fair by spreading hooks not camping or tunneling or massive slowdowns will lose quickly.

  • @Nazzzak said:

If you're getting 4 man swfs with full gen rush builds and toolboxes with BNP, then you'll be hard pressed to do much to counter it ultimately. But I doubt you're getting those sorts of teams every round. You might just be underestimating how long the chases are actually taking.

I play solo and the only games I have where we get through the gens in a short period of time, are the games where 3 of us are on our own gens and the killer is unfortunate enough to find a survivor who is good in chase first.

They may not be 3 or 4 man teams but I do get teams with good Tool Boxes and BNP all the time with at least 1 if not 2 survivors having Prove Thyself....

  • @AcelynnBen said:

You can find the survs, but let's be honest, if al you are doing is avoiding detection, that may be the easiest thing to do in the game. The game was not designed as a hide and seek simulator, it assumes players are going to try to progress the game (even if it means getting killed, ultimately). As a killer, finding two survs who are only trying to hide is a painful and near futile endeavor. On some maps it's near impossible, unless the survs really screw up.

Should it be bannable? Not permanently, but maybe. It certainly not on the same level as physically blocking someone into a corner.

The better solution is to cap game length at 30 minutes, maybe force EGC at 28 minutes regardless. Realistically, there's no good reason any game should progress beyond 30 minutes anyway. That would also head off any new hostage taking efforts by hackers.

I think Mandy or at least another Mod has confirmed if survivors are doing nothing but hiding and not doing Gens for a extended period of time that is hostage taking because of the fact they are refusing to do thier objective and not progressing the game. On maps like Mother's Dwelling the Survivors could hide indefinitely because the Killer won't leave the patrol of their gens to search I'm dead zones.

I do like your idea of automatic EGC if progress of Gens is idle for too long. ATM the match will automatically end after 2 hrs when the game server shuts down

  • @FlameGNG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3279939#Comment_3279939

ooh really? but i mean its not really holding the game hostage thats the thing you can find the survivors... But is it really enough to be bannable i mean shouldnt people be able to play how they want?

I get body blocking as a killer because there is nothing you can do as a survivor but a killer can def find the survivors

Let's put my example on a Mother's Dwelling map. That map is so large that even if the Killer left his patrol to look they may still not find the Survivors, and if the Survivors refuse to do the Gens then it falls onto the Survivors to progress the game.

Remember the killer has two objectives at this point. Stop Gen repairs and Kill Survivors while the Survivors is to repair thier Gens

  • @FlameGNG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3279891#Comment_3279891

Hey mandy i hope you reply to this because i've been trying to figure this out for years :D

Is hiding AND NOT DOING GENS just hiding bannable?

As i see it that wouldn't be considered holding the game hostage because the killer can find you, right?

And please dont send me a screenshot from the rules becuase i've read them and i've seen tons of other people ask this but never really gotten an answer. So i would prefer a YES or a NO, Thanks!

It is from last I have heard. Let's say there's two survivors left with 3 gens left but not a 3 Gen lock.....the Killer does thier rounds patroling and none of the gens are being worked on because the Survivors are locker hoping or plain hiding to avoid afk crows. That is taking the game hostage because the Survivors are actively not progressing the game and the game can't end because the Killer can't find the Survivors.

Now I'm not sure on the amount of time that needs to pass to constitute as holding hostage but that is considered as such

  • Most of the time the Killer will be in tunnel vision in the chase and may not see the rift your trying to grab before they launch thier attack. Most Killers I have faced have let me get a rift done especially the white rift if they see me grab it.

  • @BendIt said:

You can understand why survivors in a SWF and using communications call the game a 'party game' but how insulting must it be to be a developer and have your hands tied behind your back to make it easy for new players to learn survivor.

Why aren't BHVR just adding communications for everyone then balance the game around everyone with communications rather than solos without?

Well for reasons why I wish R6 Seige didn't need coms....over half the games I played last night had either young kids cursing worse than adults..... racist idiots using the No No word every 30 secs....or elitist arses that judge everyone by thier stats.....Coms are not always the best solution to situations like this....they can't monitor it and until they make the reporting system more fluid I think they shouldn't add general coms.

If survivors didn't see the orb as your pathing, or see the Guard's Range, or even get such a big benefit from grabbing the flag then he would be more viable than he is now. Honestly keeping the boost for grabbing the flag would be fine as long as they take away the Survivors ability to see the patrol path and the range.

  • @Pulsar said:

Got it, the community shouldn't have that information. But really even if DC's aren't kills they lead to kills. If someone DC's first down their team is most likely going to lose (usually.) So don't include stats from DC's or matches with DC's? Anyway lets just keep releasing stats that don't count things that actually effect the playerbase in actual matches.

Thats the thing I have seen on the forums and in game people DC for all sorts of stupid reason that are not linked to The Patch or even balance even.....Peoplr DC because they don't like the map, the Killer, if they go down first, if they are found first....the list goes on.

Also like I said the data would be flawed because let's look at just a out a month ago they disabled the DC penalties and look how many DCs we had. The information wouldn't show anything but how petty and childish the players who DC are.

  • @th3syst3m said:

They should include kill rates counting DCs as well.

No they shouldn't because DCs are not Kills and that would cause idiots to DC more to cause Killer's "Kill" ratio to skyrocket leading to faulty stats leading to not needed nerfs. It was bad enough when The Patch came out every idiot and their kin were DCing and Suiciding on hooks to try and inflate Kill rates to cause the patch to be reversed....

In the end DCs should be their own separate stat....even then it wouldn't show much since people DC for the stupidest reasons

You sure they did not include dcs? Because I thought when someone dc's he basically counts as killed... And I didn't find any information that they did or did not account for dcs...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/350586/stats-kill-rate-by-killer-and-mmr-september-2022

But if you have a source for the information that they did not count dcs I'd be glad to read it... Otherwise I'd have to negate that argument... I mean just be assuming that dc's are not counted is one thing but on which stats do you base the statement that with dcs counted her killrate would be the highest? People disconnect because of many things... And I don't think it is just nurse...

No DCs are not counted as Kills because if I remember correctly the BP received is from a Quiter bonus or something like that and also when a player DCs and I have the Killer survivors by any means it doesn't count the DCs

Well luckily the majority of Nurse players are also not good. So it evens out.

The sad part is everyone is just DCing or flat out quiting when facing a Nurse that they won't get any skills when dealing with her.....I'm a horrid Nurse player and When I decide to pop her out to practice with her I get 1-2 DCs after my first blink.....the majority of people who call for stupid reasons or just say NERF NURSE without adding anything new to the conversation probably don't have the skills to even deal with the babiest of nurses

Yes and No. Head On can be messed up wasting it or it dosnt give you much distance if used incorrectly and DH is the same way. Both perks you can mess up and even SB has it's negative effects like you have to walk everywhere so not to accidently use it. The only overpowered part of her is the survivor mindset that you shouldn’t cleanse against her. A truly focused plague you shouldn’t, but most plagues are to busy chasing to remember to drink the kool-aid. So cleanse away!

See if you do that with me your playing into my hands lol I give myself the addons that extend the Kool aid barfs and the one that lowers the amount of cleansing pools....so in a chase I'll get a free Kool aid boost lol
