I know you mean well by your statements but hearing someone excitedly tell me about the first new basekit killer buffs we've gotten in years (when survivor gets them every year) and the changes are just the survivor spawning closer together and a hostage-prevention feature is just funny to me

Like yes, it is great that survivors will spawn closer together. Not complaining about that. But it is the only basekit buff killer has gotten in years, meanwhile survivor gets like 2 basekit abilities every year and they're all better than that spawn change by like 1000x. And many people want us to be happy with it

Yes, let's pretend almost every single map rework wasn't a massive buff to Killers. There are still problematic maps that haven't been reworked, but almost single one that has was definitely done with the intention of making games easier for Killer.

  • Killers lobby shop and DC the instant they see a map offering they don't like. Survivors have to wait until a match actually loads up to cherry pick their games. DCing is almost never okay, but why should Survs be subjected to matches they don't want to play and punished for it when the Killers are getting away with it for no punishment? DCing should always be punished regardless of the reason, but it's true Survs are the ones getting screwed by it way more, whether by a teammate or themselves.

It sucks a killer as polarizing as SM is causing this, but there really is nothing anyone can do to force people to stay in matches they simply dont want to waste their time participating in. The only true fix is to once again rework her but that must be a hard decision for the devs, as they know she badly needs it but if the rework again doesn't satisfy they just wasted more time and resources for nothing and just have more players unhappy and leaving matches or DBD altogether. It also a challenge to rework and not completely take away the identity of the character, but in SM's case that may just be what needs to happen.

  • Survivor:

    1.) Laurie 2.) Nea, 3.) Claudette 4.) Cybil 5.) Meg 6.) Jane 7.) Lisa 8.) Cheryl 9.) Steve 10.) Tapp

    Killer:

    1.) Huntress 2.) Plague 3.) Wraith 4.) Myers 5.) Dredge 6.) Doctor 7.) Artist 8.) Pyramid Head 9.) Demogorgon 10.) Trapper

  • 5 second stun, 60 second duration

Disables Killer power for 12 seconds

Has 1 token, allows you to choose which pick up you want to activate it on. Remove skill check.

Disables all your other perks for the 60 second duration

Stunning the Killer with DS leaves you Broken for the following 80 seconds

  • Old Laurie, Lisa, Cybil and Maria.

  • The only backpack I like is the one on the Meg hiker fit, the rest I avoid.

In my matches, I also only see this offering taken by survivors.

BHVR has the stats on what ratio each offering is used by killers and survivors. That should be one of the best indicators of whether or not the players feel it's killer-sided or survivor-sided.

It doesn't work the same way for Killers as it does Survivors. Killers usually bring offerings if the map is specifically good for who they are playing, like Scratched Mirror Myers on Lery's or Skull Merchant on Midwich. Survivors usually bring strongly Survivor-sided maps like Ormond and Garden of Joy.

I tend to see Survivors bring seemingly random offerings much more than Killer though, maps that are good for both sides. Maybe they just wanted variety or hadn't played the map for a while, but Killers tend to only pick ones that fit their playstyles.

  • Spencer Mansion from Resident Evil

  • There is one decent corner of pallets, but the whole area is also low walls or weird rocks with gaps that you can look through. So not the greatest. Spaceship shack is ass, loops on the sides of the ship are easily used up and create horrible deadzones, spaceship has a couple good windows but dead end loops inside. It definitely needs a looking at.

  • The only load time that is really a problem is the starting one, but I don't really see how they can make it any faster. Used to take days on my old Xbox but on Series X it's a lot more tolerable.

The starting match load time is understandable because maps are randomly generated. Also has to account for Killer items/perks/powers if there are any, which I've noticed takes a teeny bit longer.

None of these times are so ridiculous that it really seems like that big of an issue, TO ME at least. But I have the patience of a Saint so I'm definitely not speaking for everyone.

  • Yeah, last level of the tome I'm like "why is everyone doing nothing" turns out two of them were trying to find green glyphs, not knowing how they even appear. Cute, but frustrating.

  • This is going to sound mean, heartless, insensitive...but here goes.

Some games are just NOT going to be able to cater to these players. I'm sure they have considered some of these options, but unfortunately, certain features (like the visible terror radius heart) will just be used by non-disabled players and will just create imbalances and an unfair playing environment for the vast majority of players. We already had/have Killers who mess with their brightness settings trying to accomplish this exact thing.

It's like the physically handicapped complaining that Pokémon GO doesn't do enough to cater to them...a game literally created to get people off their couches and go walking outside. There are thousands of games out there, sometimes you just have to accept a game can't be molded to you or it will just be misused and defeat the whole purpose and/or balance.

I am not unfeeling and do wish these things COULD be implemented, but sometimes you just gotta look at the grand scheme of things and accept every game just isn't for you. I'm sorry :(

which just means these kinda people will find another perk to complain about. --- My guess is SB.

Trust me, the goal posts ALWAYS move to the next thing, no matter how many complaints are met with nerfs/buffs.

All the Killers played it up super hard that DH getting nerfed wouldn't result in other Exhaustion perks getting targeted, saying crap like "I'd rather face 4 Sprint Bursts" LOL that lasted like 3 days at most.

  • They're either dropping MMR or it's Killers trying to boost loss numbers by throwing.

  • NGL, I don't even need this perk, but I've been running it almost as long as it's been in the game just because Killers were instantly whining about it. Might as well run it knowing it's going to be nerfed just to piss them off.

  • I wish they would nerf SWF in some way because they keep buffing Killers to compensate, which is making SoloQ more and more miserable by the update.

  • "Abused"

Also known is Killer language to others as "stuff Survivors use just to try to win and that's not allowed"

  • People played bugged with lower cooldown, got used to it, started stomping with it, and then it got changed and they refused to adjust. That's pretty much it. Killer is still good just not ridiculous like she was before. If Killer isn't S-tier, they get dropped.

  • It's just pure luck. On my Laurie, it took 1.6 MILLION to finally get one. On my Nea, it took like 2 levels lol.

  • Lucky you. Now that Ultimate Weapon exists, Weskers just turn their brains off. Get first hook, proc UW, pressure until unhook and then straight back to tunnel. One thing that can save you is a decent map. If it's an open map like MacMillan or Coldwind, good luck.

  • Yes, hopefully they do. Had a Hillbilly who teleported around to wherever he wanted, no cooldown on M1 and very likely wallhacks/infinite aura reading. Would just teleport in your face, smack you down in 2 seconds and then pick up and teleport to hook.

Killers cheat too but this forum doesn't seem to acknowledge that at all.

  • Every Survivor game I play recently, either the first person down killed themselves on first hook, DC'd on first down, or was ruthlessly tunneled out of the trial. I don't condone DC'ing at all but it made me realize WHY people were quitting as the first one. I still think they should buy their team as much time as possible and not quit but I can't stop them.

Soo I play Killer a bit more now and not to play to win and it has been a lot more fun.

  • @Xernoton said:

The idea isn't so terrible but constant aura vision in the boon is too much. It makes mindgaming completely impossible and the 2% speed penalty will amplify that further. So the killer is forced to snuff the boon every time. The problem here is that the boon can be reset an infinite number of times (let's be honest, nobody runs Shattered Hope) and the killer won't always know where it is.

    Also: second floor boons. 💀

Yeah and paired with Dark Theory would be even worse. Imagine like 3 of these planted all over a two story map and MFT top of it...oh my.

  • Killer Perk OP: must be a skill issue

Survivor perk OP: OMG the devs are so survivor sided, please fix your game it's impossible to win!

    -____-

  • The irony of a Killer telling Survivors to use DH, the most complained about thing in DBD history, to dodge a Killer Power is honestly hilarious.

  • I'm using it because I know it's going to be nerfed, so might as well enjoy it's existence while it lasts.

  • I don't think anyone would want to use any other add ons if this were the case. Billy should just get a couple buffs because I miss him :(

  • Are you new? Not asking in a mean way, just curious. When boons first came out I thought the blue aura and the noise they make was atrocious. But I got used to it over time and I think you will too.

If not new, yeah it sucks and I totally get it.

Just break totems as Survivor or stomp them with Shattered Hope as Killer? (Sarcasm intended lol)

  • Killers tunnel before they even know how the Survivors are going to play, Survivors try to do gens as fast as possible before they even know how the Killer is going to play. I honestly don't know what they can do to fix this at this point and it makes me sad. I like the state of the game right now but all the complaining here and on social media is telling the devs things aren't okay.

They need to realize that people are never going to be happy no matter how much they beg for and then receive certain changes, people will play in a way that will always make the other side upset, and just have faith in what they are doing.

Just imagine the game as Survivor without basekit BT and with pre-nerf Eruption, and as Killer with old DS and Dead Hard in the game. These are just small examples but people act like the game just gets worse and worse when really it has done nothing but get better and better. And its not objective. They just let their salt take over their brains and always have to find an excuse for why they are losing.

  • How can SoloQ and Killer both be simultaneously impossible? The game is mostly SoloQ players no matter what anyone fools themselves into believing. SoloQ really isn't that bad, obviously weaker than playing with a full coordinated team but still more than playable. Killers think any team coordination automatically means people are playing with friends...could be true, could not be. I'm going to go with that it's more often than not probably the latter.

  • So Survivors getting hit is a "mistake" now? Sure, let me play for an afternoon and just never get hit LOL this is just getting insufferable at this point.

  • Almost every Killer would use this perk and destroy perk diversity which the devs hate, so no

Per definition, tunneling is ignoring other targets in order to finish 1 target.

Apply this definition to gens. Et voila!

Yeah, except Killers have a choice to not camp or turn back around the instant they hear the unhook, despite efficiency. Survivors do not have that freedom when working on gens.

Killers can still win by spreading hooks, Survivors can't work on a gen for 30% progress and go to the next one and repeat the process til 5 gens are done unless they want to lose. You simply stay on one gen as long as you can until it's done and then move to the next.

So no, your "tunneling gens" argument holds no water and if people really believe that it does, they are deluding themselves to validate their strategy. Tunnel all you want, but Killers comparing simply doing gens efficiently to tunneling to kill efficiently is reaching.

  • Tunneling is fair, it's just annoying and unpleasant to go up against. But it just makes sense to do it. Well, not necessarily from the first hook at 4-5 gens, but what's to stop anyone?

The biggest gripe most seem to have about it isn't even it's existence, but more that it's the most effective way to kill fast AND the easiest. Also that there are few counters other than having a well coordinated SWF or a random SoloQ that probably just follows the Killers around with a flashlight all day and never touches gens.

I think we are too far gone to ever really remove tunneling completely. There just needs to be a way that it becomes less rewarding while also making other aspects better in QoL, more fun and more rewarding for Killers.

  • Maybe there could be a Jaws game mode so they balance around it? Having its own couple of maps and slightly different rules and win cons.

  • At least she can't hook grab anymore. I don't mind Nurse unless they are camping/tunneling cuz she can do them so well. The hook grab scare always sucked so I'm glad it is gone on her more than anyone else.

  • He might be one of the most boring, but Legion is THE most boring

  • @Sharby said:

Maps are supposed to be survivor-sided because maps exist for Survivors as a form of resistance against the killer.

Every killer-sided map is terrible and barren.

    MFT - Skill issue

    Smash Hit buff -

BNP change - It won't make a difference in like 90% of matches and is really only useful in super sweaty swfs (1/50 games) or in comp play against 3-gen killers.

Thank God, someone who understands that maps have to be at least somewhat Survivor sided or games would just become an absolute stomp for Killer. It is not a coincidence all the last few maps favor Survivors....they are SUPPOSED TO.

  • FTP works with We're Gonna Live Forever so I don't know why it wouldn't work with Buckle Up.

Didn't Prove Thyself AND Brand New Part lose some of their power, in the same update? Killers have been complaining about that for ages.

I've said it a million times and I guess I have to say it a million times more: Killer mains are NEVER HAPPY. They never will be. No matter what they get, they act like it is completely negligible and basically doesn't exist, then the goalposts move to the next thing to whine and complain about. It never ends. This is why, even though there are certain things I know Killers need, I don't care if they ever get it really because they will STILL find something to whine about after. They refuse to believe their skills could be the problem and just blame the game and the devs.

  • That's like saying Unbreakable is bad just because you didn't get a Killer that slugged you for long enough to use it. Just the thought that you might use it scares Killers enough to not leave someone grounded for too long, it's that good and can completely turn games around. Same story with Deliverance.

  • I think Nurse is fine (unless hard tunneling) but to use "you don't see them often" as an excuse is weird to me. Of course you don't see them often, everyone is playing Wesker, Nemesis, Legion and Wraith because they are easier to get consistent results with. Nothing to do with tiers on that one, either.

  • @lifestylee said:

I think the server should close sooner then an hour, maybe 30-40 minutes and if the survivors are still alive they should auto escape and win.

Uh, no. This implies it is only the Killer's fault that these long games happen. If the Survivors are the ones at fault for creating a 3 gen, you can bet I am going to stand my ground and defend it as hard as I can. Survivors 3-genning themselves is usually the result of poorly planned gen rushing. Yeah, I could let them finish it so you can say I am the one holding them hostage, but why should I lose because of their carelessness?

Also Killers can't hide and purposely drag a game on to win, Survivors would be able to with such a short time limit.

  • I've actually been seeing a resurgence of him lately. Like, I went from 1 Pyramid Head in a couple of months to seeing him several times my last few sessions.

  • I'm with you...except those last couple of sentences lol. The game is mostly balanced outside of the stuff you brought up that people do to make games unnecessarily hard for "fellow" Survivors (along with a few Killer disparities). But that isn't a balance issue as much so as it is a skill/griefing issue.

Anywho, it's so hard to tell sometimes who is trolling and/or throwing if you're actually committed to gens and giving good chases. I had a Quentin earlier who, according to the other Kate on my team, said he sandbagged her all game for no reason. Continuously missing all heal skill checks, led the Killer to her gen twice, ran the Killer to her death hook of all places just to go down and let her die. He ended up DC'ing at the end after the Killer slugged me and found him trying to hide to get Hatch. He had so much time to open the door and he chose to open a chest and then crouch behind a boulder.

I was already thinking he did NOTHING all game from my eyes, and then to find out he was throwing us all under the bus made it even worse. The Slinger I think recognized this guy was a dbag and let me wiggle out to open the door and leave. Turned out, the Slinger was trying to get adept and he screwed him too by DC'ing! I was like wow, even just one bad apple can rot the whole game for ALL 4 players!

Another game I had last night was me and another Steve and then two Ada. At some point, BOTH Ada went AFK and wasted a huge chunk of valuable time getting gens done. I know this because the first one came up to heal me right before I got my final down and had a crow. I saw the other Ada's aura while I was on hook and she wasn't moving either. Spectated her after I died and she had a crow circling too...I was like, WHY?! We were doing so well 😭

I truly believe it is not even tunneling or whatever other crap that will end up diminishing this game's fun value, reputation and community...but just Survivors who are horrible players.

My guess is how it’s very easy to break line of sight there. It’s also really easy to walk into a blind alley if you’re looking behind yourself but I like to pretend that didn’t happen.

They were smart with the camera placements so it was hard to do that unfortunately, kudos to them for that though!

I'll just have to learn it better. I want to bring the offering but there's the obvious need to use Terrormisus at the moment. When I look back the problem was more my team didn't help me at all when getting tunneled, the map just added onto it.

And to that other guy that said the map is big -------> -__-

  • I will 100% take buffs cuz I love playing as and against Myers....EXCEPT when he Moris you without ever even taking a hit and completely tanking both your game and his own. I'd rather get tunneled by a Blight than die this way, it is just so lame.

I feel like this is what is holding him back from at least getting even just a few small buffs. Cuz any buffs will also likely help with his braindead tombstone strategy. I don't know if it's that they don't want to change/buff him because they love it or think Killer players love it, or if it would just be too much to completely overhaul him just to get rid of it. But it needs to go or he deserves nothing.

  • @Frogsplosion said:

I swear to God it's like survivors are actively attempting to drive killer players out of the game because it would make them happy to just run around and map doing generators and nothing else with no one to stop them.

This pertains to a very small vocal minority of Survivor complainers. Most Survivors just want fun, fair, engaging games with both Killer and their teams.

  • The Evader emblem has been ticking me off this event. I will run the Killer for so long, lose him in chase a few times, land a couple pallet stuns...and then get a Silver at the end. It's very frustrating and has been the emblem making pipping in red ranks difficult, especially when you feel you did so good that game.

To be fair survivors always have the option to just hide and locker-hop, which they often do if the killer's doing too well.

This will only result in MAYBE one person getting out that, which most consider a loud for Survivors. Turning around and tunneling/camping may still get zero or one kill, might just turn into a snowball of 2+. So I wouldn't really compare the two.

However I do not get mad when I see the Killer struggling and gens popping left and right that they have to resort to those tactics. Unless you just admit defeat, it will be almost impossible to come back without Survivors royally screwing up and not camping/ tunneling.
