The concept of an NFT is fine, it's basically trading cards (the argument about predatory practices and gambling is another topic though), it's the infrastructure that they're built upon that is the issue.

A physical trading card doesn't take much energy to produce, especially in bulk. But cryptocurrency like Etherum and Bitcoin literally take more energy than burning 5 gallons of gas for every transaction/transfer of the "item".

I can hand a trading card over to a friend and that's all it took. It's a very local and energy-efficient system

If I want to "hand" an NFT over to a friend you need to have computers burning through algorithms to "secure" the "validity" of the transaction on the blockchain to the tune of several gallons of gas. It's a global system that requires a huge energy-cost (for every individual transaction, regardless of the "value" transferred) with the existing popular systems.

That's not even remotely true. I think you're thinking of mining. Transactions cost almost nothing in energy terms. It's small amounts of data transfer. A six minute porn video is going to be exponentially higher than transferring that data. The mining costs are artificially high to prevent inflation of mining since chips are so affordable. Or rather, were so affordable.

"I can hand a trading card over to a friend and that's all it took. It's a very local and energy-efficient system"

A silly example. There's no real energy cost for the hundredth of a calorie you're talking about.

I used to be a toxic survivor. My first chapter bought was Halloween just for Laurie (I think this was when Decisive was actually broken, without the getting unhooked requirement), I T-Bagged so much a Bri*ish person would be worried, my flashlights were only used to click or stun, *starts sobbing* I even main Nea.

I've been doing my best to repent for these sins by doing everything I can to be a better survivor (I only carry one selfish perk, Dead Hard, I'm committed to the other 3 most often being selfless or team based) and to say "GG" and stuff after games but I still feel I needed to confess since I haven't done so I think.

You're very overdue but you came to the right place. Forgiven! No penances. It's good you have DH awareness as well- many people DH very inconsiderately and don't think of what they're doing every time they smash the active ability button so recklessly when there are people on the other end. Your "GG"s however are enough to brighten the world back and save your soul.

They don't care how I feel, so why should I care about how they feel? :P

It plays to Conehead's strengths. Hook, cage, then hook again. It's not my fault if I want to play the Killer at his fullest when I know the Survivors aren't going to give me an inch regardless.

Some of them care but if you want to have a meme match or just some fun you've got to show it first. No more tunneling! Plenty of fun and happy survivors out there.

    Dear Killer Confessional,

    1. Today as Twins I had a hard time against a SWF, so I tunneled out their weakest player to secure 1 kill. Entity was still displeased.
    2. I used Insidious Deathslinger today to complete a challenge for successful shots.
    3. I pretended to be a friendly killer with Bubba after the SWF knocked out 3 gens by first chase. Then downed three of them with chainsaw ftw.

1 is pretty dirty but it's easy to get hungry and pick out the weaklings. At least you recognize this. 2 is just funny and good sense. 3 is also funny but very evil. You must disregard weak players for the next three games or help them improve by faux chasing in order to redeem yourself. Thank you for these good confessions.

    Sinfully wrong!

I was a Trapper vs old Sabo squad in old Bloodlodge. Able to down all 4 of them because I had no hook available. I shook my head at them for 20sec. Then pick one up, step on my own trap, give them 1min to reset themselves and we started a normal match again.

I never care of kill, only seek to dominate survivors. I already won.

A fine example. More killer beans should be like you.

I'm honestly terrified for the rework. I don't have much faith in the devs when it comes to balancing or reworks, and I'm afraid they'll ruin him for me. Though I admit he does require a different thought process to play effectively, which can be a deterrent, but if you can appreciate goofy play-styles, it gets funner once you get it down.

By goofy, I mean running behind survivors for 15 seconds without hitting them in some cases, or purposefully canceling chases and going back into them on repeat.

The key to his current iteration, I feel, is running Play With Your Food, avoiding chases, avoiding M1s that only injure, and only committing to short insta-downs. If you ever feel like you're getting looped hard, you're probably playing him wrong - he's not a chaser. I'd lose most of my games if I chased people.

Instead, my general plan is to:

    • Force them in towards the map with Corrupt Intervention at the start
    • Set up long-range stalk sessions from tall main buildings (Crotus Penn Asylum) or set up ambushes at generators next to corrupted gens
    • Insta down whoever I ambush; if revealed, just take the free stalk you got from them and reset
    • When I get a hook, use an info perk (need one, I like BBQ) to find your obsession or 99 stalk people
    • Run behind 99ers and wait for your power. NEVER hit them until exposed if they've been stalked over 25%

At that point it just gets crazy snowbally since you just keep stalk on everyone and run at 125-130% speed for basically the rest of the match.

The only maps I find difficult are Auto Haven and some farms maps since they can be a little too open. Everything else has some main building to abuse, good stalk corners, are indoors, or have some other niche.

    ---

Also remember they only reveal you when they see 20% or more of your body, not your face. Keep abusing the peaking mechanic and eventually you'll figure out the little angles where they literally can't reveal you from their direction.

"I'd lose most of my games if I chased people."

Oh buddy. It took me too long to realize this.

People make livelihoods trading NFTs and such. NFTs have got to be far less energy consuming than the amount we spend on frivolous videos and tik toks- and unlike dancing dogs and egirls, NFTs provide economic impact and value.

Came back 10 minutes later and 2 were t bagging behind me, hit 1 and they ran of.

Another 10 minutes later (nope not joking) and now 3 were t bagging.

So i guessed they weren't in any hurry to get out as they still hadn't done the last gen.

So went beserk on them, didn't even bother to put my headphones on.

Downed all 4 of them and just let them bleed out on the floor.

They did the last gen when i went downing them, but that was to late.

Now they could wait 4 minutes on the floor to get out of the match 😂

If you teabag me, not only will I camp you out, but I'll probably end up focusing on whatever survivor you played in the rest of my games for the day. Sorry not sorry.

I'm no longer going to bring streamers to matches because of how BM people have been during the Bloodhunt.

I don't mind giving people hatch/gate - but it's important to my own pride that they know I'm giving them hatch/gate.

I still miss way too many attacks after teleporting with Hag.

Sometimes I dread logging on in the mornings.

Not bringing out streamers is a grievous sin. You might as well do it just to benefit yourself if nothing else. Giving the hatch and expecting acknowledgement is natural, but it's also good manners on part of the survivors. No penances, but you really should use those streamers and work on the Hag game. Does pressure matter when 5 seconds after you chase a survivor off a gen there were one or two more hiding to go right back to that gen? Gens need to regress faster and there should be more one survivor only gens on maps.

The long time solution has been to simply give a base 3% degen each hit on base. That way you can tightly patrol a well thought out 3 gen or have a chance against SWF actions on far away gens.

  • Everyone says Trapper but we're really going out of our way to assume we're not playing a SWF, where he has the same problem as stealth killers.

Taking a hit at the exit gates is common, but if that's what this guy is annoyed with yeah its annoying but who would expect them to do anything else?

Killer's objective is to kill is as much as survivor's objective is to complete generators and heal. The double-standard is with you and the devs. Killers have loads of perks that punish the survivor side for doing the objective, now survivor has a perk of their own that punishes themselves for doing the objective. How much help do killers need?

I can already visualize folks not doing generators to save their perk. That is horrendous to think about.

"How much help do killers need?"

Realistically, a new core game mode.

  • @Crypticghoul said:

I mean something very important to acknowledge during a match is that a good survivor on a gen won't do the gen any faster (barring minimal time differences with great skill checks) than a survivor who isn't good at getting chased doing a gen. But a good survivor will waste a lot more of your time in chase than a survivor that is less skilled.

And downing a survivor now takes away a lot of gen time because someone has to go and save and heal that guy while you're (hopefully) chasing another.

" than a survivor who isn't good at getting chased doing a gen"

That assumes there is a weak survivor in the group or that he would immediately leave a good survivor and find a bad survivor. It could be that he's on a map that all of the Survivors are very good at, I've played some mean games on Lery's where killers couldn't beat the vaults and we basically abused vaults and bullied the crap out of him. Or, it could also be that the it's a team and when one survivor is left another is alerted. This may even work when only a duo is playing. Me and my brother used to do this all the time and the two of us could rubber band a killer the whole game by going for gens where we knew he would see us first and leave our teammates alone. I've never played on a four stack SWF but I can only imagine how much easier that would be with a group, and I know I've face groups that have done that to me as killer (protection hits are so frustrating).

Obviously getting an easy down is desirable, but the fact is that most people playing now are playing at a high enough level that it isn't guaranteed. I can tell you play survivor for the most part.

Basically saying, they want to make them feel like actual people and not a cardboard cutout that goes around saying "Oh hi! I'm gay!" or "Oh hey, look at how trans I am!" It'll probably be important to their character, but they'll be so much more than just "the gay character."

Besides, we already know that AT LEAST one of the Survivors is LGBT, and we've known that for a while, just not who.

" they just don't want being LGBT to be their sole defining trait"

That's kind of the problem with that though, whenever it's introduced it just looks like lazy pandering and it becomes the main trait of the medium. Out of all the exciting spectacles they can get into tranny Trapper is on the very bottom of the pole.

This video is really good, it is a little bit older, but should still be relevant for most of the Maps.

Also quite important, you should know which Pallets to break and which not. If the Pallet is a safe Pallet or even a god Pallet, you have to break them. A safe Pallet can be used to catch a Survivor, but you have to go to Bloodlust 3 to get the Hit, which takes way too long. A God Pallet will make it impossible to hit the Survivor. Safe Pallets are stuff like Jungle Gyms or Long Walls, while God Pallets are stuff like Shack Pallet.

But when you run into an unsafe Pallet, you dont need to break it immediatly. It is playable and if the Survivor stays at it, you have a chance of getting in a Hit, if they make a mistake. If you dont feel comfortable with that, you can break it, but at least try to play unsafe Pallets.

Regarding Flashlight-Blinds, you should try to hear the Survivors. Once you manage that, Flashlight Blinds at Pallets become useless. In general, they are not the best tool and some Survivors are trying those even if they are injured, but they seem to forget that Killers have ears... So if you can hear the Survivors, you can follow them while blinded, however, this requires some practice. But you can try if you manage it.

If you are chasing someone, you should not abandon the chase just to patrol some Gens, because this removes your pressure. Better to commit to the Chase, UNLESS it takes to long to catch the Survivor. If you see a Survivor at a strong structure and they are a decent looper, better leave them alone and try to get other Survivors. Most of the time there is at least one weak link, capitalize on them.

You are quite new to the game, so nothing wrong with failing IMO. There are a lot of ressources on the internet (Youtube-Videos, like the linked one), if you look at those, you should quickly become better at chasing Survivors.

    *Shows the shack

"There's nothing else they can do right here"

*Obvious pallet in front of them

    What a lazy video.

If your chases last too long that's usually:

    1. Survivor is in a strong position. In this case give the chase up and disrupt the other gens and catch a survivor in a bad position.
    2. Survivor is just much more skilled than you are. Not much to do here you just need to get better at chasing. As you go up in ranks you will face better and better survivors. You just need to learn better skills to catch them.

"In this case give the chase up"

I like how your advice ended up being "Well they're just better than you or you're in an unwinnable situation". Says a lot about the core playability. Fact is, even ######### know how to run the shack now.

Twins keep me going. Decisive Strike and Object of Obsession change is going to make me much more motivated to play killer too. Feels good to have some burden alleviated.

Yo ######### I might reinstall. I uninstalled out of pure undiluted rage a few months ago but these changes are huge. It seemed like every game I was playing had 4 DS'ers and every other group was an actual team with OoO, this might actually make the game playable again. Glad I check these forums on occasion.

  • I uninstalled the game and just checked to see if DS was taken out in order to tempt me back into playing lol what an unfortunate thread to see

It’s a one time perk, I seriously don’t understand how people complain about a perk that gets deactivated the rest of the match after the survivor uses it.

Because there's three more survivors using it and each time it's a flat five second fugg you that resets a chase. A three second stun gives the survivor a chance to chase with no advantage but a five second stun gives the survivor, each one, a moderate advantage to reach a pallet or vault. If one is in terminal range you might as well DC because a gen or three will always pop in the time that re-chase concludes (the only exceptions are a wily Spirit or a lucky Trapper).

If you keep getting OoO (which screws freddy hard) put on blindness addons. Once they're asleep and they trigger a snare or pallet you'll see their aura at all times, but they won't see yours.

That may have helped during the terminal part of the chase, a good idea.

Don’t use Dark Devotion on Freddy as you wont get great value from it. It doesn’t transfer the Lullaby, only the TR. So the Obsession, now being asleep after getting hit, isn’t going to suffer any confusion because they won’t be hearing a TR, and will know if Freddy is close or far by the Lullaby.

And only awake survivors will be confused by the Obsession, and an be snuck up onto. But just say 2 survivors are on a gen that you’re sneaking up onto, if one is awake but one is asleep, your cover is already blown. The awake survivor is already going to know why the other survivor just bolted.

Huh, weird. It seemed like it was working. Maybe the survivors were just bad in those early test matches.

I can't give any recommendations for using snares at shack, but I can for running shack as a 115 M1 killer.

From my experience, fast vaulting out the window is the most powerful way to use shack. So, don't let them do that if possible.

If they enter from the pallet, what usually works is to walk up to the pallet like you're going in and then go around outside. They'll either camp the pallet which is a win for you, or vault the window. When you come around the corner they'll usually either abandon shack or turn around and medium vault which you can get a hit at. If they go back around to the door, you should be able to follow and get a hit before they can use the window or pallet.

If they enter from the door, they'll probably go for the window. If you are already in shack before they vault, I usually go to the window and double vault. They can't see me do that until they have re-entered shack. Then follow them outside and they can either medium vault the window which you can hit or drop the pallet. Do be aware of fake vaults if you're in that position.

Now if you aren't in shack before they vault out the window, don't go in. Show your light at the door then moonwalk up the side of shack. With some luck they'll bump into you at the corner.

Not bad ideas but all gambles. They all gamble that a survivor won't predict or just wait for visual confirmations while spacing moderately.

In scenarios like this, forget about the results of the match. Instead, think about the grand scheme of your skill and take the game to get better. Focus on getting better at chases and map pressure. Eventually you will get good enough to properly contest good swfs, but for now you need to work on your fundamentals.

Here's a combo I've been playing around with lately: Pop, Surge, and Surveillance. Very good gen stability, and very good knowledge from Surveillance. Your fourth perk should probably be something like Sloppy Butcher (to delay healing), Enduring (easier chases and slightly more time efficiency), or BBQ (if you want the bloodpoints or are struggling to find out where to go). I do not think BBQ is as effective as the other two as Freddy, and I personally prefer Thrilling Tremors over BBQ when I am not too concerned for my BP count. BBQ also holds your hand a bit and you will get better faster if you learn how to predict survivors' movements and positions without aura reading perks.

There is no contesting SWFs, end of story. If they make lots of mistakes and I play real scummy then maybe, but that's not fun at that point.

I've already uninstalled the game, I just wanted to say that I appreciate everyone getting back to me!

The funny thing is when I brought up "oh, another OoO" they said "YOURE A FREDDY!" like I somehow countered that. Like #########? And OoO doesn't have a minimum limit so they just watch me the entire chase. I'm kinda done man. There's no salvaging the experience. I'm playing for nostalgia at this point.

  • Game One: Enter lobby, it's Autohaven. Face another OoO. The Object runs to me, proving that this is a SWF. I DC after a minute of loops. They talk mad ######### in the after chat and confirm they're a SWF.

...Am I really expected to play games like this? I'm going to go ahead and uninstall again. Maybe I'll get excited after the next few updates. Or they just nerf Freddy and I never come back. We'll see.

  • If they want to quit on you they're going to quit on you. That's just the way of it.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

Definitely survivor sided. The game heavily penalizes killer mistakes over the ones survivors make.

This seems to be the case. They did this so a survivor could escape a killer, but the fact that the killer is stressing about every other survivor not nearby is the real issue.

The nerf Pig and buff Nurse stats? Sure! Those look really accurate...

Anyway, i can´t wait for the new stats. Without moris. Because moris obviously had such a strong impact, that they required a nerf. So the kill stats must be way different now.

Yeah no kidding lol, I guess he didn't really interpret what the data means

Don’t use Oppression on Freddy unless you pair it with Wool shirt or Dress add ons so that extra regression is applied to the gen. Or go even more nasty by adding in Huntress Lullaby. If you’re going to use a perk like Oppression which also gives survivors the opportunity to wake up, then you may as well get extra regression out of the failed skill checks.

" If you’re going to use a perk like Oppression which also gives survivors the opportunity to wake up, then you may as well get extra regression out of the failed skill checks."

I haven't considered this. I'm actually losing value by taking them out of the dream world and merely getting an alert in return. Or they just win the check and nothing happens. I'll take it off. It made more sense on my Ghostface but now I see it's not worthwhile.

    @Rydog said:

My everyday build with Freddy is Barbecue, Pop, Discordance, and Whispers. Tinkerer might make a good substitute for Discordance -- pretty much any perk Freddy can leverage for gen visibility synergizes well with his teleport.

With shack, I try to catch survivors at the window by heading to the doorway and then backing up/moonwalking, and a lot of time they will hop out the window and I will be there to greet them. Also, throw snares down all over the shack as you loop. It will cut them off, slow them down, and erode their distance advantage. You should generally just be throwing down snares willy-nilly, constantly.

This sounds great. I'll do that. I can't use whispers because it's hard for me to focus on, so I may opt for Discordance or Tinkerer. I did run Tinkerer for awhile and it was amazing. I also had luck with Dark Devotion and Tinkerer as well. Now that you mention it, I may take off DH and Oppression for these two.

    Thanks guys :)

    I mean.

As Freddy, a snare in front of the window on the outside cuts shack time down tremendously, and extra snares in the doorways would make it a deathtrap real quick unless you're playing pallet Freddy for some reason. Besides snares, learning to mindgame the shack is an extremely useful killer skill i'd recommend developing, there's plenty of good videos that explain it in far more depth than I could. Scott's video about how to run all generic tiles in particular's one i'd recommend.

If you REALLY wanna sweat to win, you can run ruin/undying. Devour Hope's a good one, but it's subject to luck, so it might be one worth switching out for a more reliable perk if you haven't been hitting at least the Exposed threshhold very often.

Other than that, just hone your skills. Not much else to it.

As far as snares go, the reason I haven't been snaring shack so much is because it's time consuming. But maybe you're right and snaring at least the window tiles will make them think twice or get in their heads. So from now on while running that loop I will simply snare as I chase. That would at least give a slight edge in my favor and it's something I haven't been doing.

Regarding the mindgames and tiles, I know all of the other tile sets and I've seen videos on how to run both shack and tiles. I've not seen Scott's, but really the only thing I need help with is shack. Every other tile is easy to master and I can fold each one in about twenty seconds including breaking the mandatory pallet, which isn't terrible.

I do want to sweat. I suppose I'd take off DH for Ruin and perhaps oppression for Undying?

    Thank you for your feedback!

No, we can do it. I liie a challenge. It just wouldnt prove the point. What has your survivor level to do with your killer level? What would it prove when you beat me as a survivor?

Survivors are technically stronger as most killer (stronger then ghostface), but most survivor at red rank are not good player.

When you win you prove that you are better then most of the red rank teams. No surprise. You are a swf with over 1000h who will try their best to win.

When i win i prove nothing. I still know nothing about your skill as killer.

Technically i proved that im better bc i reached rank 1 and you not. But lets get more in detail. Do you play with crossplay? Which region?

I know for sure that in Europe with crossplay its easy to reach rank 1. For example Otzdarva plays in this region, too, and he tries 50win-streaks with killer. So its prove that its not hard to reach rank 1.

    "When you win"

So you obviously have no confidence that you can win yet you talked up such a big game about yourself. The goal is for you to prove that your method is solid. If it's as good as you said, then you should have no problem getting at least 3ks every single match. If you're as good as you said then there should be no reason you've already assumed that you will lose. I'm a rank 8 survivor, my brother I think is rank 14 right now. Surely you can stop us into the dirt?

My steam name is "Kotos42". We can talk more there.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 11
