They aren't necessarily holding the game hostage the way you think they are. I've had survivors too terrified to play on Swamp. They will hold out literally for an hour, unwilling to do a gen, waiting for someone else to die so they can get a hatch.
On RPD, they probably can't even find gens. I have 1,500 hours in this game and it took me 3-4 minutes to find a gen on Midwich the other day.
If they really aren't playing and they're intentionally holding you hostage, you probably would have already made back the BP from another game if you had just moved on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If they refuse to touch gens, totems, etc, then they are holding the game hostage just as much as the killer trapping survivors in a corner. The game is not progressing, normal gameplay is not happening, and they've been doing this the last 26 minutes at this point.
They were indeed finding gens because like I said I had to fight to keep 3 from being done at the same time.

That isn't something you should be blaming Demo on, mainly the players. Even then though, tunneling is a viable strategy so I don't exactly agree with that.
I can easily blame demo given he's on sale and all the people who flock to him have no idea how to use him, because of this they play like they've never even reached rank 12.

Play better then? He's a basic M1 Killer if you learn to juke Shred, and he has no stealth if you use your ears
Yes, because "playing better" will make playing against the same killer TWELVE TIMES IN A ROW less tiresome.
Now if majority of those 12 matches were enjoyable or at least different, then I wouldn't be here. But given it's been the same Tunnel and camp off first hook with zero gens done, It gets annoying very quickly.
Also in my experience, it doesn't matter how good you are at the game, if a killer REALLY wants you, they'll get you, given survivors have finite resources.
-
I got accused of cheating by a streamer after I 4Kd. I went to their stream after and saw they typed to their friends and stream chat to report me. I didn't have to worry since the only viewer of the stream was me

Are you seriously having trouble dealing with Demogorgon? It's literally impossible for it to get the drop on you, and Shred is jukable with good situational awareness. Source: Am a Demo main.
Getting tunneled by people who bought him due to the sale gets tiresome FAST.

Demopuppy has been a good boy to us all and now that he's leaving, he deserves respect.
He's not leaving! Maybe for the people who don't have the game or didn't put money into him, sure.
And getting tunneled to death by 7 of the 12 Demos I've faced since they bought him due to the sale and have ZERO idea how to use him or play killer in general, I have no respect or patience left for the killer.
-
Because a harmless glitch was more important than real issues.

@GannTM said:
You would rather people spam Hawkins than Demo?
Yes. Hell I'd rather have a Pig, Wraith, and Ghostface on RPD all at the same time instead of having 12 Demos in a row because it'd at least be a different experience.

He's not leaving, if you have the characters you get to keep them. They're only being removed from the store as well as Hawkins being removed from the game.

you mean given what you dish out as survivor you don't want to deal with that as killer?
Given what SBMM is giving me as survivor, it'll be just as bad if I play killer. And given killer is the more stressful side to play, I'm not going to bother dealing with it.

I'm not against the idea of FNaF per se, just suggesting that in future people could comment on a pre-existing thread if the topic already exists. Because otherwise you end up with loads of threads popping up on the exact same thing. Which can be frustrating when it's about a game other than that one I actually come here to discuss.
Although I see what you're saying.
(slightly confused about the relevance of Tiktok furries though?)
I get what you're saying, but if you're going to say this about fnaf posts than say it about posts related to "X thing is op" or "Delete keys"
We can't expect people to use the search bar, type in their topic and revive a dead thread, unfortunately no one is gonna do that even if it leads to less of the same threads.
(And I mentioned furries on tiktok because it was the best comparison I could make, people commenting on things they don't want to see only boosts it more)

And this attitude is entirely why people are so against FNaF in DbD.
Not spamming the forum with 7 billion threads about the same thing is just common courtesy.
Kind of how things go here. If you don't like something that's being posted, don't comment on it, you're only boosting it more.
It's like furries on tiktok, a lot of them welcome hate comments because it boosts their videos.

My question is how many games in a row do you need to get 4k'd before the mmr decides you shouldn't play against nurse every other match?
Not enough apparently.

I'm pretty sure tunneling/camping is just a byproduct of the horrible design of the game at higher ranks. Only so many killers can efficiently protect gens and get downs at the same time. Or it is an extremely stressful task that the majority can't be bothered with, so they resort in a less stressful playstyle through camping/tunneling.
This is one of the most well crafted comments I have ever seen.
-
@Junylar said:
Tunneling is the most efficient tactic for killers. The more skillful the killer is - the more likely he will tunnel.
If you tunnel someone off first hook right after they're saved with no gens done, you're not that skillful.

The fact that you mentioned your friends throughout your original post implies that you are SWF's. Why even mention them if you're not? Are you not able to comprehend how that could easily be misconstrued?
I bring them up because we all are experiencing the same thing, every killer has noed, or is a leatherface, or a tunneler. I bring them up because I'm not the only one experiencing crappy mmr. We rarely play together and when we do it's no different than when we are solo q.
Don't assume everyone who brings up friends is a sweaty swf.
-
@Kyxlect said:
Oh nuu, a 3-Man SWF group is angry that the Killer's tunneling and camping and wants "fair" Killer's that don't do that all the while you'll stack meta crutch perks and use comms against them. Seems totally fair alright.
Ah, because mentioning friends automatically means we're in a swf group, did you even think before typing that?

@ThiccBudhha said:

Tunneling, camping, and slugging are the most efficient methods to win. If your mmr is high, you will run into killers with high mmr. It also seems to care about kills more than hooks, because I have been getting easy survivors myself and I spare a lot of people nowadays.
Oh so just die over and over until I get matches that I'll have SOME semblance of fun in? SBMM is so well implemented if it's that easy to go against low skill players. What a joke this game is becoming.

I used to main killer, was rank 1 for like 3 months in a row before I started losing interest. I'd play killer now but given what I'm dealing with as survivor, I'm not going to deal with it.

I have a question. I've never seen Hellraiser, so what significance does the vhs tv hold that confirms it?
I get more Ring vibes from it, personally.
If you save the video it literally says "dbd_hellraiser_teaser_final_with_sound" That's basically the confirmation. As well as the 1987 in the top right being the year the first movie came out.
-
I get paired with people who do nothing all game while I do gens and I end up being left on hook. I die having more points than the other survivors and they have the courage to say I was the worst one on the team.
I prefer when we went off ranks instead of some invisible number that we have no idea what it is. We got at least SOME form of information about what the skill level was of the other players at the end, and ranks were somewhat consistent. With this You either steamroll or get steam rolled, there is zero in between. "Skill based matchmaking" more like "We'll throw these guys together for no reason"
-
This is the dbd community, "respect" isn't in their vocabulary. If you say something that goes against another player, they attack you for it, If they don't like something, they'll fight to their dying breath till it goes their way.

Last night I played all killer and experimented with most played and least, all good games bar one, the fairer match making on killers I barely played was exceptionally nice.
Tonight I'm about 10+ games in on survivor and every game so far has been competent team mates vs a competent killer and all have been enjoyable whether or not I escaped. I safety pipped on 30% and pipped on the rest.
So far so good tbh
Edit: should add I've been heavily playing the last few months on both sides in red so it should have a good idea of my MMR.
Double edit: If as killer you have an issue with survivors running meta perks and you didn't bring Franklyn's/Lightborn when you saw 3 flashlights the issue doesn't lie with sbmm...
I myself haven't played for the last 1 or 2 months, but I've been playing near non stop the last 2 days. You'd think sbmm would have changed for me by now but it's been the same the whole time, teammates who don't know left from right with killers who've been playing for years, or playing against survivors who know every little tech and trick in the book and can use them flawlessly.
If this is what sbmm is going to be for me, I want no part of it.
Edit: Yes, because I totally have Franklins on every killer I have.

I've been playing since it was free on Ps4 like 2 Novembers ago and it has constantly gotten worse (for the most part) with each update/new mechanic. They really need to go in and fix/optimize the base code of the game cause it is likely just going to continue to get worse.
They won't, it's just that simple. They've had 5 years to make this game be playable or at least to where it doesn't kill your system, but they haven't. They've been only building off the same terrible code for the last 5 years and haven't gone in to fix it.

Unlikely, BHVR has a bad track record with optimizing their games, even before they were name changed to BHVR.
I mean look at Naughty Bear, I just recently got a copy of the gold edition for my ps3 and it runs terribly. Even the digital only "Sequel" Panic in Paradise, which has much less foliage and detail than the first game, somehow runs even worse than the first game.
-
I'd say one of BHVRs original characters from before they were BHVR.
Naughty Bear.
He'd fit extremely well aside from being a giant walking teddy bear, but I think he'd have a good chance at having one of the most unique powers in the game. Not to mention they'd make bank off cosmetics for him since there's a LOT of customization options for him in his games, and since they made him they wouldn't have to pay for any licensing.
They already have a charm of him in the game, but maybe.

-
Wow, a pitiful bp increase and a crown that has little difference from the last one. I'm toooootally gonna waste my time participating.

Yeah if only it was like this on ps4. It's borderline unplayable. I've even seen pc players using this to their advantage.

Just out of curiosity, who actually likes linked skins? I know a lot of people only bought them due to the cosmetic bug but now that its gone, whos actually gonna get linked skins now?
The bug was the main reason I bought them. I can see BHVR losing money because almost no one is going to buy them anymore. The fun is all about the mix and matching, and the devs removed that fun factor entirely instead of focusing all their efforts on something that ACTUALLY effects the gameplay.

you also stalk at the same speed no matter the distance. it's a fair trade-off
Like I said though, both stalking and revealing should take longer the further you are apart.

midwich hallways are... something... not sure. but I feel like 32 is pretty close actually...
The further he is then the longer both stalking and revealing should take. Just like with Myers, the further they are the less you stalk.
But with Ghostface it's as if they're sniffing his cologne even though they're like 20+ meters away.

@GoodBoyKaru said:
afaik if they allow it to stack your fov would clip into the model of the killer and make things very akward for all involved.
During gameplay we never see the killers body aside from their legs and arms, and maybe lower torso. We never get to see them from the shoulders up aside from Docs hallucinations, Twins when we are controlling Victor, Freddy when teleporting, Spirit when phasing, and hag teleporting. The only way to see the killer outside of normal gameplay is with a mori.
So knowing this is all they have to do is make the killers head and upper torso contort further backwards to accommodate, and make this effect client side.

The only changes I see him needing are a brand new tier 3, change the iridescant add ons, and make the zombie ai better.

My question would be: what was going on in those 40 seconds before walking up to the gen at last moment?
Having to pressure other survivors. The killers can't be in two places at once.
-
@WeenieDog said:
I feel like the only time you're really getting punished is if you break off a chase to kick a gen instead of going for the down. It also doesn't counter pop, you can still pop it right after.
If you don't get to the gen fast enough, it can counter it very heavily since you get stunned, and during this stun the timer for POP still goes down. So if you're too slow you could end up losing your POP.

This was actually a suggestion of mine back during the ptb. Accept mine was have his tier 3 do this.
-
I agree with Lemonsway. Not a lot of people play on the ptb, add on the fact that it's only a certain part of the community that can access it, you don't get a lot of feedback.
And it's always like this when a new killer is added to the ptb, he feels balanced or like he's over preforming up until he hits live servers. People don't know how to play as or against a new killer on the ptb, and given the ptbs are so short people don't have the time to learn. But as soon as they hit live build, all the flaws begin to show.
If BHVR could figure out a way to give ptb access to the rest of the community, the flaws would still only show in the live build, but there'd be much more initial feedback. Maybe allowing us to cut stray branches before they branch off too far and cause problems.
-
His tier 3 should be something completely different. It's the same thing they did with Legion, the trailer doesn't match. His tier 3 should allow him to grab survivors or something. And the iridescent addon that makes survivors exposed after taking a vaccine for 12 seconds (The same addon that didn't work on Twins) should instead add 1 or 2 more zombies.

It's like when Mathew Cote said "Just play something else"

I'm on the side of the people who have been affected by this but - and I truly mean no disrespect here - I don't think that anyone deserves financial compensation for getting an update to their game that messes it up for a couple of days. It's frustrating, yes, but it will be fixed soon. It's not like anyone was lied to, or the DLC falsely advertised, or BHVR ran over anyone's parents with a tractor.
Glitches happen. Sometimes serious ones. You just have to be patient, it's fair to say that BHVR isn't happy about this either.
Yes but on THIS level 2 days after probably the most anticipated dlc in dbd history? This is absolutely unacceptable
