    Especially when he’s running M&A

    Oh wow.

    Ok, thanks for that.

Boy do I feel silly butting in on so many posts about kindred + open handed.

    When Kindred

is active, all instances of Open-Handed will enhance the range in which the Killer's Aura is revealed around the hooked Survivor.

    • This Reveal range used to be capped at a maximum of 24 metres, but the cap was eventually removed, allowing for it to increase up to 48 metres (16 metres default + 32 metres of four Open-Handeds).

Yeah I just saw this which shocked the hell out of me. Getting some mods to look into it in another post.

What why isn't that in the Perk description or in the wiki? is there something in writing?

It should be on the wiki... hmm.

Maybe it’s in the wiki under Open Handed

  • @The_Arr_Red said:

I was already thinking about the Open Handed Change and Keys and Blood Amber weren't my first thought. I thought more of Open Handed and Kindred since it will allow you to see the Killer in a 32 m range of the hooked survivor. it is not as strong but it has no "real time limit" and still allows for other Perks like Exhaustion Perks or anything else.

No it won’t. Kindred has had a hard cap of 24m for a very long time for balance purposes.

  • @Shymare_11 said:

To be fair you can only see the killer for a collective of 15 seconds with that build without streetwise (18.75 seconds with streetwise) and alert is still the same with or without open handed. Plus, bring a key is just asking to be tunneled, camped, mori’ed, and most importantly Franklin’ed.

Throw on Built To Last for extra time

    • When a generator is being repaired while under 50%, a survivor will convert twice the amount of time they were on the generator into exhaustion.
    • Exhaustion, in general, is paused when on a generator regardless if a survivor is repairing one with over 50% progress.

For example, if a single survivor does half the gen by themselves and gets off, they will have 80 seconds of exhaustion. However, if this is too "powerful" it can be reduced to just normal conversion (1:1 ratio conversion of seconds into exhaustion duration).

It is not too strong and will make survivors weaker when approaching them off of a generator which is what the perk is intended to do.

Sounds too complicated. Especially if a survivor jumps on a gen while they already still have a 40 second exhaustion timer. 120 seconds of exhaustion will cause uproars.

Even for something meaningless like a game.

Especially for something meaningless like a game.

Doesn't matter how literally nonexistant the stakes are. Circles will be formed, castes will be made, flags will be planted and people will desperately try to prove that people are actually genetically predisposed towards evil for not being on this side of the line.

At least with a symmetric game, you don't have a clear cut 1 for 1 "them".

    Like Jesus.

    We're playing a video game.

Seeing some of the flaming trash I have here and a lot of people seem to forget that. """""They""""" aren't a literal conglomerate of hellbeasts that ran over your parents and ate your dog. And it's hilariously pathetic to decide that since survivors/killers are so actually horrible as a whole you can take pleasure and righteous satisfaction in making things as miserable as possible for """"them"""" instead of just admitting to yourself that you're just as garbage as they.

    I'm not mad-- just disappointed.

Applause. I get tired of the vitriol on here. (although I’m guilty of succumbing to moments of us vs them during peak frustration)

I'm planning on doing an item thief trapper build to mess with lobbies full of items (Franklin's value), and I was wondering if it told the survivor the killer had hoarder when they interact with an item or chest (when the killer would be notified by hoarder).

Because I might just scrap the idea if Hoarder reveals itself, smart players will just abandon items and chests or 100% make sure I'm on the other side of the map to retrieve the stuff.

    No.

Survivors will only pick up on the perk if they’re savvy enough to correlate that you’re quickly appearing anytime a chest or item is touched.

The Nurses I go against are always pretty inexperienced. They may get the drop on me and get a hit, but after that I run in a straight line and they just never catch up to me... if I go down, it's usually because no one would heal me so I was forced to work on a gen injured. Feels kinda cheap to keep a Nurse busy for a few gens by running around the edge of the map.

I suppose once the new Tome drops the game will be flooded with inexperienced Nurses.

I don’t mind the inexperienced ones. I just mostly see Nurses where every Blink is on point.

There’s no juking or dodging them.

  • I just hate that there’s no point running from a Nurse. You get spotted, you’re downed. I just don’t bother anymore if a Nurse spots me. I just stand there and take it. Why frustrate myself?

Blight and Nurse aren't the best examples. They're mixed bags most of the time too because they're both super prone to bugs with their mechanics and frequently get cheated out of hits. The are awesome if you get a stroke of luck where nothing goes wrong though

Plus neither of these killers have the same stall capability that Legion has. Legion slows the game down A LOT.

  • That’s the whole point of Babysitter. It’s meant to be the opposite of an anti camp perk. Babysitter tells the user is it safe to heal under the hook (is the killer coming back?), or it tells the user to run AWAY from who you rescued to act as a diversion. The blood and no scratch marks just helps ensure that the killer is more likely to chase the Babysitter user, which is what that survivor is supposed to want.

  • I mean... all because you didn’t get a pip?!?!

You can see right there that you only got 2 silver and 2 gold emblems. If you had hovered over the silver emblems it would have told you what you didn’t do in the match in those emblem categories to have gotten gold or iridescent.

I was referring to the killer slugging all 4 survivors, not just 1 or 2 (hence why I said people would de-pip).

Obviously slugging 1 person to go after another is a method, I use it all the time.

Sometimes all 4 survivors serve themselves up though, usually being over confident with their flashlights.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1909261#Comment_1909261

Slugging at the beginning of the match isn't necessary & just causes frustration. Everyone usually de-pips and the game ends before it ever even started.

Slugging at the end of the match is a method for winning (3 - 4 still alive) or for nobody getting hatch (2 still alive). I've turned many games around because I slugged at the end.

This is completely untrue. Some killers need to have someone incapacitated ASAP, and then immediately look for another chase.

The game is intentionally designed to have the killer at a disadvantage when 4 survivors are still alive, thus the killer needs to ensure there is always one survivor unable to do gens while in a chase with another. Slugging is the only universally accessible option to every killer.

Holy balls playing Plague is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better! Like...she's actually a pretty viable killer now. I can stream my vomit at people and actually aim it. They don't get all jaggy and laggy when I barf at them. I am actually now able to do the steady barf stream attack where you damage them with sickness before smacking them. I would have never even attempted that on the Xbox One due to how hard it was to control.

I liked playing Plague anyway but this makes her a decent killer now instead of someone I play with the knowledge that I expect to have 4 escapes with...

Yeah the difference is staggering. Playing previously unplayable killers on the new consoles feels so much better.

Do you ever feel bad when a survivor that dcd cos you didn't read appendix B properly on the survivor rulebook? It's funny like an RQ is funny in any multilayer game. Fact of life.

Usually it is 3 weeks, at least this was the case for the last Updates. However, for this time, there was no official date given yet, meaning technically there is no delay.

Also, a big point of criticism was the Twins-Chapter because it was released unfinished. So the community should not really complain (not talking about you, OP, here, but I am pretty sure some people will complain) if they take longer for the PTB-content to go live.

That’s a fair point. A lot of resources were suddenly redirected to creating Victor’s locker block mechanic and it’s relevant animations.

I'm so jealous. I had to stop after dedicated servers because I get so absolutely screwed over by them thanks to my inherently 60+ ping agaisnt survivors with 20, which only really makes a difference on Plague. I still love playing her, but I can't main her any more, even though I, too, love her hybrid playstyle of careful-management-into-godmode.

Ironically, the first test rollout of hit validation actually fixed her ping issues for me. Like, completely fixed. I don't know what they broke between now and then but they broke it hard.

(Side note - I've been playing her with her purple emetic and it is genuinely kinda crazy. It's like easy mode - and it more than makes up for all the robbed hits)

Yeah Emetic + Severed Toe pretty much equals insta-broken status (because they’re running)

ok but if there is no LoS blockers or it's too thin like a tree, the common scenario, you're not going to get close to a vigilant survivor. once survivors hear terror radius right next to them but no killer and they see someone's injured they can realize there is dark devotioin in play. or a swf team can just tell each other what's going on.

Except the reality is in actual practice many survivors fall for it and get terribly confused by it.

  • @Yords said:

I think the low BP gain and difficult ranking with her specifically are what makes people shy away from her. She is actually a pretty good killer. Not exactly on Oni level, but strong nonetheless.

A lot of that is tied into her “management” type playstyle. Players don’t “manage” the survivors infections, or the pools the way they’re supposed to, and they most definitely infect enough interact-able objects the way they’re supposed to while survivors are infection free.

  • @DBD78 said:

I'm thinking about going for PS5 instead of Series X, but I'm at devotion 12 on Xbox DBD so I have to start from scratch that would suck a bit 😐️

Yeah, that’s a tough call. Going with the same platform means keeping all your progress and licenses.

Would be expensive switching to PS5 and re-purchasing base game and DLC.

  • It’s on the killer to use LoS blockers, and Spine Chill is easy to deal with by moving towards gens sideways.

And even if the killer doesn’t get a grab out of it, the Obsessions TR causes chaos and confusion to the other survivors anyway, which still helps the killer.

  • Honestly, don’t stress too much on the build you use. Experiment and mess around with perks on Clown. I personally usually stick to a slugging/anti heal build of Coulrophobia, Sloppy or Sulphuric Acid Vial, Distressing, and either Forced Penance, Deathbound, or Overwhelming Presence.

It’s far more important to focus on getting better at bottle placement during chases and in the correct spots at loops to either control where a survivor changes direction or get a hit in before they reach a pallet or vault.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm genuinely curious, recently it has gone from everyone calling him the most balanced killer in the game to one of the bottom tier. I'm a rank one demo main and I see him as a top tier killer. I have no trouble winning with him and I cant really find a flaw in his kit.

    • His shred makes for amazing anti loop that can destroy many different types of loops as well as easily capitalize on survivor mistakes. It is also really good at zoning to get free hits.
    • His portals make for great map traversal especially in the late game. Just don't focus to much on the set up early game and place as you go and they will pay off without you wasting to much time.
    • His tracking makes his portals even stronger allowing him to have excellent late game pressure
    • Best user of STBFL in the game which again like I've said before will make him incredibly powerful in chase in the late game. Combine great chase with pop and mobility to instantly pressure gens and it makes him pretty formidable.
    • His stealth isn't that great but with decent portal placement I do get the occasional surprise hits on survivors
    • Not map dependent

Can someone please explain to me their reasoning as to why they think he's bad.

It mostly falls down to many that try him use portals very poorly.

It is of my opinion that Demo is incredibly strong when portals are used properly for pressure.

I’ve started to see a steep rise in rank 1 Demo’s in my survivor matches, and they’re pretty much unbeatable.

I’ve mentioned this in a few threads, but never put up a post about it. I feel like hexes need a massive overhaul, and I don’t really care which ones get buffed or nerfed, except to say that most hexes are extraordinarily weak. (I am a survivor main) I propose the following changes need to be made so that the Hexes become a more enjoyable part of the game for both killers and survivors.

    1. Eliminate Hexes from the blood web.
    2. Each killer should come with two new hexes.
    3. All Hexes are at their max tier, (like in the bloodweb) and do not need to be leveled like perks.
    4. Each killer may equip two Hexes along with their regular number of perks.
    5. All Hexes (of owned killers) are immediately available to all of your owned killers. (If you purchase a new killer, it unlocks their two hexes for the rest of your killers.)

Good grief. That’s way too OP. Some killers having 2 free Hexes at max power PLUS the freedom of 4 free perk slots is ludicrous.

  • @gatsby said:

Survivors and Killers both get in a routine of running the same exact build... even if its not actually as optimal as it could be. They usually just run the same thing over and over.

So here's my advice: try occasionally experimenting with swapping out perks in your build for alternatives to see how much you miss them and how good the new builds end up being.

On my Legion build, I became really attached to Ruin/Undying but with the nerfs on the horizon I tried other builds. Surge/Pop turned out to be very good for my playstyle and is probably the better bet for the future.

On my Survivor build, I decided to experiment with using Kindred more. Originally I tried swapping out Blood Pact, but it didn't work out so well. I actually ended up dumping Inner Strength instead. And the resulting build worked out much better than the old one, which I never would've guessed until I tested it out.

I’ll take you one step further.

I think it’s very healthy to experiment with EVERY perk in a few different combinations of builds.

It really helps develop better skills in this game.

Sole Survivor and Mettle of Man have no interaction with the Obsession Mechanic, but they create an Obsession anyway.

Why not have the Devs just tack on the Obsession Mechanic to a bunch of random perks for no apparent reason because having an Obsession in the game decreases tunneling?

There are six Survivor Obsession Perks and three of them are from the same Survivor's teachables and were released in 2016. There is no damn reason for this.

It used to be more dangerous being the Obsession. A killer is clearly going to Tunnel an OoO user. Sole Survivor is supposed to make OoO safer if the killer starts winning.

As for MoM, not sure. Just part of the downside

  • @WheresTheGate said:

First I say thank you. I appreciate another survivor that still tries to finish the objectives and escape.

Second thing is I have a suggestion. If you are downed and the other survivor has been doing nothing but hiding don't wiggle when the killer picks you up. Many killers quickly realize you are giving them the opportunity to find the survivor that's doing nothing but hiding and they are very happy to do so.

While I would say a survivor has the right to go immersive in that situation I have the right to have zero respect for it and try to make sure that strategy doesn't pay off for those that do it.

It always feels like a win when I get that final survivor caught in that situation. Frequently it even turns into an actual win, because I think a lot of killers understand and appreciate what I am doing and they drop me off at the hatch after the other survivor has been hung.

I’d be careful with this part of your post.

”Second thing is I have a suggestion. If you are downed and the other survivor has been doing nothing but hiding don't wiggle when the killer picks you up. Many killers quickly realize you are giving them the opportunity to find the survivor that's doing nothing but hiding and they are very happy to do so.“

The mods could interpret this as “helping the killer to grief another player”, which is against the game rules.

I think it isn’t healthy to demonise survivors that choose to go immersive in these circumstances. Trying to finish repairs is generally hopeless at this stage, as are saves, and the goal is to survive and escape after all, so hatch just becomes a logical sensible option.

If i’m the downed survivor in that scenario, and the killer is slugging for the 4k, I intentionally crawl as far away as possible from the hiding survivor to lead the killer away, because I already know that survivor is waiting for the hatch, and I don’t blame them. I can’t be saved, and there’s no use getting them killed too. If i’m hooked, i’ll just suicide to give that other survivor the greatest chance they can to jump in hatch before killer finds them, or hatch first.
