I'm a killer main and I'm not like that. But that doesn't mean it's not a problem. It's a massive problem in low ranks.
I wasn’t implying that the OP’s point was invalid. Just commenting on the perceived attitude of killer mains on this forum.

This is so true, but sadly most people on this forum are killer mains and they defend tunneling and camping as if there life depended on it. It makes me sad that they see it as a fair tactic. They have gotten used to it so much that they cannot play without doing such things.
Not every killer main is like that though. I like to bring up points of fairness for both sides.

@TheClownIsKing You'll need to hear this.
There is now a bug where survivors won't be slowed down by being hit by bottles. Walking in the gas seems to work most of the time. But others the slow instantly wears off when the survivor leaves the gas.
It completely destroys Clown. Don't play him this patch.
Wow. Ok. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if they accidentally changed the global values of hindered with the addition of Nemesis.
Makes me wonder if Freddy is the same.

The nerf was draining the item's durability, right?
They haven’t yet updated the perks description because it was an emergency change once it was realised it could make survivors drop vaccines, and destroy them after the elapsed time. They’ll probably update the description in the hotfix.

I got sick of being bullied as Nemesis last night, and switched to survivor queue.
Waits were as long as 15-20 minutes.
Geez... I wonder why there weren’t enough killers, hmm....

The residual blue contamination that you see for a split second can still have collision till it totally disappears. I.e. you can accidentally move back into the attack’s AoE.

The price could be on bhvr tho. You can't charge the full price for two set pieces instead of 3. It doesn't seem right.
They can’t just have it so that only the bottoms and the torso are a set, incase BHVR & Capcom DO release further character cosmetics down the line. IP holders are always sensitive about the misrepresentation of their IP, and it’s very likely that Capcom do NOT want a RE3 Jill body with a RE1 beret Jill head (in theory if such a skin were released).
Capcom would have made it 100% strictly crystal clear as to how they want their characters to look, and strictly restricted to that and that only. It doesn’t matter that we only have 1 Jill Head ATM. There could be different Jill heads down the line.
-
Can these posts please stop pretending like they know what Capcom did, and didn’t authorise as part of the licensing agreement!
These choices/decisions are NOT 100% all on the shoulders of BHVR.

Everybody’s brain varies as greatly as body types.

Wraith is a useless killer. All Seeing Blood makes him an ok mid tier killer. Yet you want to nerf it? Never mind other killers who need a nerf or other killers who need a buff. Nah lets focus on the most bland and easy killer to loop and the one addon that could possibly make him viable.
Tell you what. Ill go one better. How about BHVR just remove all addons from the game, and all abilities. No traps, No invisibility. They all just have no strengths whatsoever.

If you want to play dbd, don't care about the outcome of the match
Mental health isn’t as straight forward as that.

I was attempting the Ghostface adept. I load into one lobby where it was 100% obvious they were SWF: 2 identical Jakes, 2 identical David’s, and they all had Flashlights.
I knew I should have put on Lightborn, or dodged the lobby, but dammit I wanted to get my Ghostface adept. So I ready up.
Oh boy...
We load into old cow shed, and here was what all 4 survivors loadout was (all identical): Saboteur, No Mither, Tenacity, BT. This was before the changes to sabotage, So hooks would remain broken for a few minutes, and my memory is foggy on this but I think Saboteur also gave a bonus of hooks taking even longer to respawn.
It was truly the most awful, frustrating, bullying killer experience of my life, and of all perks to cause MASSIVE problems, it was No Mither.
Any body downed was difficult to pick up without 2 flashlights in my face. If I avoided the blind, didn’t matter, nearby hooks were already sabotaged. If I left anybody slugged they could just crawl off, disappear, and recover. The 1 or 2 occasions I was lucky enough to hook somebody, I had to deal with hook rushing BT saves, and it didn’t matter if I downed any body because they can just get back up on their own.
It was the single, most awful match I have ever experienced in my entire life. This team could do their gens at a snail pace because it didn’t matter. It was close to impossible for me to make any headway in killer objective in that kind of match without Lightborn.
My mistake. A big one. I should have lobby dodged.

Additionally give the clicking sound of flashlights also a toggle option, so it’s not triggering anymore. Something more muffled.
but I actually think they are working on stuff like that. They just started to implement accessibility options after all with colorblind and struggle skillchecks and it didn’t seem like they would stop with these.
I can respect why it’s slow going as well. I’m sure they’ve brainstormed heaps of accessibility solutions, only to scrap them, because they found “holes” in the idea whereby it could be abused by players that don’t need the accessibility option.
-
@Mooks said:
so you don’t have trouble with Flashlights, Flashbangs or firecrackers?
Seems like it would make more sense to give an accessibility option to change the blinding effect as there are also people with epilepsy that have trouble with it. Maybe make a toggle setting to make it completely black instead of the light?
That’s a really good suggestion actually. A sensible accessibility option that doesn’t leave itself open to cheating by those that don’t necessarily need such a change.

It's funny how just one Add-on nerf instantly triggers people and are like: "Noooo, Wraith balanced, git gud Survivor Main!!1!"
Same with Demo, his 2 best Add-ons got nerfed by 5% (like 0.2 seconds if even that), while others got BUFFED and they immediately screamed: "Why nerf Demo?" while it's his Add-ons which got a slight nerf and not even the Killer himself. People are so fragile sometimes it's mental.
It’s totally mental. And I agree with the Lifeguard Whistle nerf. I’ve played Demo here and there and new Lifeguard Whistle was easy mode. The nerf probably won’t make much of difference either because it’s only reduced by 1m. It’ll still be a strong, free info add on.
-
You realise there’s a huge influx of new players because of RE, so the queues are strained, meaning the match making is going to expand its search parameters, right?

I'm not sure about the add-ons at all, sorta hoping int3r4ct puts out the hard numbers on them all so I can see exactly what they are doing. But so far contamination on survivor hits are what I think is the best, but I've been using zombie detection range and speed together. As for perks I'm in that area where I'm just putting on random stuff or throwing crap at the wall to see if it sticks.
I @ed you on your profile but I honestly don't think those ever send out notifications cause I never get any either.

It's also a video game. Things shouldn't be bad just because, and if I remember correctly in most zombie films they actually walk towards noise meaning every gen, fast vault, chest opened, running survivor, grunts of pain etc. Would attract them, which it's not
There needs to be a range limitation though. Otherwise they’re just going to e constantly turning ad icing towards every single noise, which in this game is a lot.
-
They’re Zombies. They’re brain dead. You can’t expect them to behave intelligently.
-
He’s great. Incredibly designed, and his kit is very robust and thoughtful.
-
Also you’re not meant to commit to a 3 hit chase with a healthy survivor.
Want to know WHY one of his perks is Lethal Pursuer? Because you’re meant to get every survivor contaminated ASAP by using hit n run tactics. Once they’re contaminated they’re easier to find/track, and THEN you can commit to chases with them. And if you’re lucky perhaps some of them have been harassed by Zombies while you’re doing you’re early game “set up”
-
Vaccines do NOT heal survivors. They remove Contamination. Nothing more. Contamination is a TRACKING tool, allowing you to audibly track where even HEALTHY survivors are. Contamination also makes survivors more prone to being heard by nearby Zombies.

Actually that’s not a particular good comparison at all. I’m playing the same game as everybody else. There’s nothing exceptional about my version of DBD that I’m playing compared to anybody else’s, other than I’ve got better frame rate than older console users, which I was also using up until November, and I was still good at the game then as well.

@SkeletalElite said:
The grind is pretty compulsory
For both survivor and killer, you will lose significantly more often without meta perks than you will with them, especially if you're not playing in a SWF or not playing a top tier killer
That is a complete fallacy. Sorry. I’m not criticising you personally, just this belief/myth that some players share.
It’s limited thinking, and it can potentially prevent players from bettering their skills.
I hardly ever use anything meta, and I pride myself on being pretty good at this game. This isn’t a flex. I’m not trying to show off. Simply demonstrating that the game allows it to be possible to successfully be good at the game regardless of a chosen loadout.
This isn’t to suggest that particular load outs and strategies have no merit or any bearing on a match whatsoever. They’re just not as influential on the outcomes of matches as many players invest themselves into thinking that they are.
Another way of looking at is to make do with the hand you’re dealt. I.e. try to learn to milk as much advantage from what available perks and add ons are currently available, rather than stressing about what isn’t unlocked yet. Almost all perks are nowhere near as bad as many perceive them to be, and most of that perception is borne of sheep mentality anyway. Make do with what you got. It teaches excellent skills in this game over the long run.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/257706/the-grind-isn-t-compulsory
The only problem with this statement is that, if you want to play this game seriously, each side has maybe 10-15 good perks and the rest are trash.
As someone with 1.6k hours, every perk unlocked on every killer, and every survivor perk unlocked on 1 survivor. The grind is too much. It should not take 1.5k hours to unlock something that is a basic feature of the game.
What they really should do, is keep everything the same, but instead of random perks appearing in the bloodweb, you get to pick which perks you have that are unlocked. You get a "tier token" in the bloodweb that you can spend on any perk you want of that tier (you still have to get tier 1/2/3 etc to get to tier 3).
This way you can mostly get the perks you want.
I win most Clown games against sweat squads using Coulrophobia, Sloppy, Forced Penance, Deathbound.
Rubbish/bad perks is purely subjective.
-
They’re easier to track because they’re noisier, and nearby Zombies are more likely to be alerted to your presence.

Ah yes, at least pig and Myers don’t ring a loud bell while coming out of stealth lul. If that not enough of a warning for you to get off the gens than I don’t know how to help you against wraith. Maybe run windows of opportunity if a m1 only killer is chasing you
That doesn’t matter. Spotting a Myers or Pig approaching allows for more of a head start than an approaching Wraith. Any Wraith that isn’t brain dead will easily get that hit in after uncloaking, even if that survivor managed to react the moment they spot Wraith coming around a corner.
Now to be clear, I’m not saying that THIS is a problem.
What i AM saying is a problem is when Wraith doesn’t even have to LOOK for survivors with this add on NOW that Wraith has much faster base m/s, and isn’t visible till within a certain range. That information is far too free for a killer that doesn’t give survivors much information until they’re already subjectively close to survivors, and is almost always guaranteed a hit upon uncloaking.
It’s JUST this add on that’s a problem. It’s much more apparent now with all his buffs (buffs that are fine).
-
@ShamelessPigMain said:
I mean, that's a pretty provocative way to say it, but in essence yes.
The problem isn't that AI acts of its own volition, without influence or input from a player, it's that their efficacy is heavily RNGesus faith stat-dependent. Indoor maps are going to be a field day for Nemesis, and turning a corner can be a trap. Zombies are desperately lacking in consistency.
And that's not just bad for survivors too. Zombies get themselves stuck in ways that no human could ever figure out.
It’s almost as if they’re acting brain dead, kinda like a Zombie. What a coincidence.
-
@ill_Boston_lli said:
Nemesis Doesnt have to hit you to down you at all. Yes I get that there are only two of them on the map. But everytime I play as him multiple survivors are downed by them. They spawn near where we are looping and close it off. I Don't feel like I deserve these downs in any way. Call me Crazy but zombies shouldn't be able to down survivors. Sure infect and injure but If the Survivor is injured maybe hinder them?? Don't Count it as a hit so there is no speed boost but quite the opposite.
They’re Zombies, not Teddy Bears. They’re not looking for hugs. Of course they’re going to be lethal.
-
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nemesis is great.
Ranged ability.
Easy tracking (contamination)
Moving hazards that can catch survivors in compromising positions (Zombies).
What’s missing here?!

I paid exactly the same amount as the Stranger Things chapter, which was exactly what I was expecting to because it has the same number of survivors.

I personally don't think that there's any way to quantify what the majority of players think in this game, since there's no way to accurately and empirically poll everyone who plays it. I also don't think that what may happen to be a vocal opinion necessarily constitutes the majority, and even if it DID, that's just judging from one source (this forum). There could be tens of thousands of people who have entirely different opinions on all of these maps for entirely different reasons that people express. There are also, unarguably, tens of thousands of people who play this game and don't visit the forum or otherwise express themselves at all. Plus untold people who may be completely indifferent.
My point is that I don't care who thinks they're right (including myself) or who thinks that something is good or bad. Everyone's going to disagree on something or another. What I'm tired of is the aggressive "just delete it" attitude. There are maps in this game that killer mains hate. Killers in this game that survivor mains hate. Playstyles that loopers hate. No one agrees on camping. No one agrees on teabagging. No one agrees on whether flashlights are fair. No one agrees on which killers deserve nerfs and buffs and which perks are OP.
The game is for everybody, and variety is what helps to make this a fact. There are now, if I counted correctly, 36 maps in this game. Half a dozen of those are indoors. People who complain about indoor maps to the degree that some of them do are raising hell about maps that take up one sixth, or fifteen percent. That's already a wildly lopsided number, and that fifteen percent is even lower when one considers how frequently other maps - such as the ones that occur multiple times per realm, like Coldwind or Autohaven - are selected.
Some people love the indoor maps. I'm one of them. I also love the outdoor maps. Often I play as survivor. Sometimes I play as killer. Sometimes I play with crappy people and have to deal with ######### attitudes, sometimes I play with great people who are generous and sportsmanlike. Sometimes I "win". Sometimes I lose. Sometimes I play on maps that I can't stand, but I do it anyway. All of this is perfectly okay to me because I recognize that this game is built to suit all kinds of tastes, styles and preferences, not just my own. And until someone can produce a legitimate, realistic poll that can somehow accurately determine that a map - ANY map - is somehow causing serious grief and performance-related problems that are overwhelmingly unfair to any one side, I completely abhor the attitude that any of them should be taken from players who enjoy them just to appease the ones who don't.
Applause

Absolutely nothing you have put in your post is mandatory for players to play the game. These arguments about the grind are all the same. They have no weight because it ISN’T mandatory to grind out EVERYTHING in order to a) enjoy the game, and b) play and get BETTER at the game!

I LOVE the Zombies. Whether as Nemesis or Survivor.
It hilarious when survivors get hit by one they didn’t realise they were running near mid chase, and as survivor I’ve had some jump scare moments getting near a Zombie I wasn’t previously aware of, or very nervous about one coming closer to where I’m working on a gen.
I think the Zombies add tension and moments of chaos, and have really freshened things up in DBD.

It's a purple add-on, not an iri, and it's 12m of wallhacks on a killer that moves at 150% speed AND has the option of bringing a silent bell add-on, or a sloppy butcher add-on too on top of it all. The iri version lets you see gen progress which is strong and deserves being a red.
The add-on was ok before the nerf, but now with Wraith's new buffs it makes him a bit too overbearing.
Exactly. It’s only because of all his other buffs (which are perfectly fine, and valid buffs) that All Seeing Blood is now unbalanced. It’s indirectly a much stronger add on by proxy.
