It’s because you attempted lunging instead of just getting closer and doing a normal attack. A lunge has a smaller hit box that’s easier for survivors to dodge, simply by moving out if the way a little.
Only lunge in narrow areas.

I feel like if the devs just made a seperate but identical chest object(aka junk chests) it would fix the perk.
As this would for example let the devs force the two extra junk chests to always drop a half depleted brown med-kit or a brown toolbox instead of needing to mess with the chest drop pool for normal chests.
It would expose that your using it but it also is trolling the survivor as half depleted brown med-kits and toolboxes are effectively useless in most situations.
Coin offerings could cause all sorts of problems with that though.

Wait what’s wrong with hoarder?
The original intention was that Hoarder was also meant to dramatically reduce the rarity of items found in chests, but they couldn’t get it to work properly.

I can only speak for myself but I went from hating the Twins to now loving them. Perhaps like me more players are realising the Twins potential.

I had someone unhook and start healing me and they had Bite the Bullet. Half way through another person came up and healed me as well (yay speedy heal), however healing noises started again. Is that intentional?
As survivors we are suppose to work as a team. If Bite the Bullet stops working because someone else starts healing without it doesn't that make the perk somewhat useless?
It’s not a bug. It’s dumb. It’s like Technician. If somebody starts helping on the same gen without Technician, it cancels the 8m reduced hearing range.

@WeenieDog said:
They could also just make the first two chests searched have to spit out a green key, like how pharmacy does with medkits.
That’s not bad, but then that could clue survivors in that Hoarder is being used.

I agree that prestiging is not necessary, but please don't decide for others what is fun.
For me fun is to buy a new killer and try various perk builds. But I can't do it because I need to spend hundreds of hours to get the perks from the bloodweb.
I am not buying DLCs because of all the grind that is needed to get the perks on a new killer. BHVR is losing money because of the grind.
My suggestion:
“I agree that prestiging is not necessary, but please don't decide for others what is fun.”
I didn’t dictate what is and isn’t fun for other players. I’m addressing the way most of these posts over-dramatically imply the grind absolutely HAS to be done, like it’s some sort of conscription into the military.
“I don’t wanna grind for so long 😭”
So then don’t. Just play.
-
@TheDankosaur said:
I agree with a change like that. Giving them 2 chests in exchange for tracking that you can miss the window for is a bit much.
Yeah pretty much. It’s why Hoarder only really work with Twins, because Victor is the only one with the speed AND stealth to ambush a survivor.
Maybe Wraith too with his recent buffs.
Any other killer gets nothing out it.

Fair enough, but my point still stands in terms of Iron Will, which is the general complaint.
Sorry. What I originally said was harsh.
What I meant to say is that this discussion isn’t about Iron Will.
-
@Reinami said:
Survivors have 16 perks among them on a team, killers have 4. Killer perks should be stronger than survivor perks. Killer perks (or their powers for that matter) should not be 100% countered by a single perk)
BTB or SP would NOT counter Stridor 100% of the time though. Outside of their active periods, survivors running these perks will still be affected by Stridor the exact same as any other survivors not running Iron Will.
I don’t see the problem with these perks simply being silent against Stridor, exactly like they say they should be in their descriptions, for their very brief active periods.

I dont see how BHVR takes a character who falls in the skillshot lineup with a shot charge time of 0.35 seconds and give him a solid and easy way to get hits when your width can be the size of 2 PHead shots.
BHVR please do explain
for reference what it looks like: https://streamable.com/2mssi9
No but seriously BHVR explain.

I wonder if it will kickstart a lot of the more inexperienced survivors to just do the tried and true "hold W". People will probably catch on to it soon, at least the smarter players. At that point you basically remove the perk from play for the rest of the match. It's like Lightborn. Technically the killer picking that perk is just a win for survivors.
I just really hate spawning in and before I have my bearings I’m already hearing the TR, and the killer sniffing at my butt.

I was high on hype during the PTB and put 5 days in playing Nemesis, it was the most excited I'd been about a chapter since the Freddy chapter, ironically. In live I've played him for a day or two and just feel kinda bored.
Balance opinions aside, wether you think he needs nerfs or buffs, anyone just find the power kind of boring and uninteresting?
There's no real challenge to using the whip, and it doesn't feel really satisfying to hit with from a visual/audio feedback perspective. It gets old kinda quickly. He just feels like -another- "hybrid" killer. Which has been a trend in the last year or two outside of the more unique killers like Twins (who are boring for a whole other list of reasons).
I feel like I'm only enjoying him for the same reason I enjoy Freddy. The power itself isn't very fun to use, the fun comes from me playing as Nemesis. And on the survivor side I'm kinda just finding him annoying, as I play Solo, and while I don't think he's top tier or OP by any means, you'll only win if your teammates know how to hold Shift + W and use vaccines (most don't).
I dunno, maybe its just me but starting from Deathslinger's release it feels like every killer or so has just been a "meh" hybrid or objectively worse version of an existing killer.
Yeah I decided he’s not for me.
And from the survivor perspective I absolutely hate Lethal Pursuer so damn much. It’s an obnoxious perk.

Trapper having all traps would be broken. The amount of control he could exert on an area right from the get go would destroy solo survivors.
All traps is way more overpowered than you realise.

Exactly. And eventually they’ll be healed, meaning Stridor amplifies their breathing.

4 perks vs 16 perks
If one person is running Iron Will and the Killer Stridor, 1/4 Killer Perks is countering 1/16th of the Survivors perks. A lot of niche survivor perks should really do more to make them attractive but at no point should a Survivor perk completely counter the tiny pool of Killer perks (or if they do make them limited like Distortion).
If the whole team of survivors is running mute perks then the killer should be the one punishing them for it with 1 of their 4 perks, not 1 of the 16 countering the killer.
I’m not talking about Iron Will. 🥴

New player, only played as solo survivor till now,and have to say the game absolutely unfun, because of majority of times we are losing, thats to say killer kills everyone, about 1/10 in games there are more than 2+ survivor escaping. Usually killer gets 4k if the player wants it, slugging for it, if not there is 50% chance to get hatch for the last survivor. Gates arent option because they are usually spaming very close, so I just walk to killer to kill me.
Anyway I have about 150+ hour in, and about to try killer, it seems the easier role.
Which one would be easiest to play for a new player?
Thats to say very easy to master. I am thinking about Wraith but open to other suggestions, mainly because doesnt seem much to him, cloak then uncloak and get a hit, I think I barely had any game where could stand to Wraith, well unless we had a very good looper and Wraith commited to that player therefore lost.
Spirit I am not so sure about, according to reports very strong but seems more effort to master.
Also I red about Cannibal thats to say very easy to play, but for me he seems to slow, nothing he could do when split to repair generators. So seems to be bad against decent players, lacks mobility.
Trapper is really good at teaching the fundamentals, including why it’s important to identify which areas of the map are important to try and control, and which areas you need to let go of, which are also the same areas you shouldn’t let survivors lead you to during chases.

First of all, damn bro
Second of all, what about the flashbang. It's a new item & is different from firecrackers. It has a radius for example. Shouldn't a survivor learn how to use it? Essentially having something new to learn?
Killers do however. Although most base mechanics/skills transfer from killer to killer, the skill curve for a killer to learn the myriad of ways they can use a new power outweigh what survivors need to do/learn to counter it.
First of all, this is beyond obvious that someone needs to learn how to use a new killer's power.
Second of all, doesn't this apply to the survivor as well? Having to learn how to dodge the new killer's power?
Since you mentioned basic knowledge from killer to killer is transferred, and outside of this ^ the obvious part. Are there any other things a killer could learn from?
Can you elaborate on this?
Just move left or right at the correct moment.

there has to be some sort of counter play to iron will, a whole perk slot to make it 50% seems fair since both parties are running the same style perk if you ask me
I agree that Iron Will needs to have a counter, as Iron Will is persistent any time the survivor is injured.
But Bite The Bullet & Self Preservation are not persistent. Those survivors are going to be affected by Stridor in the injured state just like any other survivor not running Iron Will.
It’s really not a big ask for Bite The Bullet and Self Preservation to be completely silent when they’re active, even against Stridor, because of how briefly they’re activated.
Bite The Bullet would still mean 150% grunts of pain while running around injured, and 125% breathing noise in the healthy state.
Self Preservation would also be exactly the same, except for those 10 seconds of the perk worked the way it’s supposed to.
It’s not like that would make either perk OP. All it does is make survivors feel cheated when the perk doesn’t work as described in the perk description.

@Aven_Fallen said:
I think it would be fine if it counters Stridor. The Perk is really niche and for the limited time of healing, it should be alright if it reduces the information the Killer gets.
The Perk will not really find any use anyway, so every single bit which might make it attractive for some is welcome.
Same with Self Preservation. If a team mate cucks a Self Preservation user by bringing a Stridor Spirit to a gen being worked on, and takes a hit before Spirit turns her attention to the gen, Self Preservation should HELP the way it’s supposed to help. It’s just 10 seconds after all.

It would just be nice that if mid heal I hear the TR, I should feel safe to finish healing because I SHOULDN’T be heard. I accept that I’d still have my breathing more easily heard at full health, but c’mon, Bite The Bullet will never ever be close to an OP, unfair perk. That Stridor currently makes it near useless is the dumbest thing ever.

You hate survivors that much, hah?
Huh?!
Do you read any of my other posts?
I wasn’t making a nasty comment. It’s a factual observation. From killer to killer there’s very little that changes for survivor gameplay. New powers don’t offer a lot in the way of challenging the survivors to learn a great deal of new skills.
Huntress, Blight, Deathslinger, Victor are all countered with the exact same survivor manoeuvre during a chase.
Nothing is factually wrong with the statement “survivors don’t have to learn any new skills”.
Killers do however. Although most base mechanics/skills transfer from killer to killer, the skill curve for a killer to learn the myriad of ways they can use a new power outweigh what survivors need to do/learn to counter it.

So I was going to post this after it happened, but I've been busy responding to others on here. So about half an hour ago, I was playing Nurse. I didn't miss a single blink. Not one(I'm proud of this 😂)
But guess how many kills I got? Two. The match lasted maybe 5 minutes, and I got ten hooks in that time. I still only get two kills.
So tell me. How is it fair that survivors doing gens quickly can nearly beat a Nurse playing perfectly? And it's not that I'm salty about not getting a 4k, I was just thinking:
If they got two people out against a Nurse that was playing perfectly, then they would definitely get at least 3 out with any other killer.
This needs fixing. It takes absolutely no skill to do this when it's the most powerful thing in the game.
It’s because survivors never have to learn any new skills.

If you really hate Nurse's Calling, try this build:
- Off the Record
- Pharmacy / Self Care
- Bite the Bullet
- Any perk (Resurgence pairs well with Pharmacy since the green medkit will work for both times you get unhooked)
Just don't let the rescuer heal you or lead the killer to you
I know I could use Off The Record, I’m just being a sook.

a niche killer perk should beat a niche survivor perk, that is all.
If you run Bite The Bullet but the killer has Stridor, then that is just tough luck.
If you run flashbang but the killer has Lightborn, then that is just tough luck
etc etc
A killer running Stridor is still going to hear louder breathing of a survivor running Bite The Bullet after they’ve finished healing.
A killer running Stridor is still going to get the full effects of Stridor after a survivor’s 10 seconds of Self Preservation has run out.
I can’t see the problem with either of these 2 perks doing EXACTLY what they describe themselves as being able to do for their very, VERY brief activation periods.

A huge problem I have with this game is how sometimes the descriptions are just straight up wrong.
Another thing that annoys me, why doesn't borrowed time work when unhooking yourself? "For 10/12/15 seconds after unhooking a Survivor, the unhooked Survivor is protected by the Endurance status effect"
You are a survivor! You unhook a survivor, it would make sense if it said "another survivor" but it doesn't!
That’s a good point.

It's not dumb when one niche perk single handedly turns a Killer into an uncounterable, unfun and unfair monster, with no chance for Survivors to use any other niche perks that are supposed to counter it but doesn't.
Like OP said, Bite the Bullet explicitly says it should me 'no noise'. It's not a percentage value like Iron Will (where it makes sense for it to clash with Stridor).
Unrelated but I really wish Bite The Bullet also hid your aura just while performing the healing action.
I HATE Nurses Calling so much.
-
@Almo can we please have a reason as to why either Bite The Bullet or Self Preservation are not entirely silent during their very brief activation periods if the killer is running Stridor?
Stridor is already persistent throughout a match. Is it really so bad for these 2 survivor perks to give survivors very brief reprieve from Stridor?
-

Survivor perks should never counter a killer perk, that goes against the entire concept.
Except we’re not talking about it indefinitely countering Stridor the way players want Iron Will to do. It’s only for the 10 second period that Self Preservation is active, and for however long a Survivor is healing when using Bite The Bullet.
How does a killer perk making 2 niche survivor perks useless sound better than 2 niche survivor perks countering 1 killer perk only periodically during a match?!
-
@Nos37 said:
It's the same with Self Preservation: "Your Scratch Marks, Pools of Blood, and Grunts of Pain are hidden for 10 seconds." Yet, Stridor still makes your grunts of pain audible.

They cannot farm you. If you haven’t noticed, you cannot get chase points if the killer is standing still now. Look in a corner to avoid flashlight blinds. The only points they can farm is objective and totems at that point.
They DON’T want to remain in the match. This is the point.

1/10 for your this post. You know you can do better than this one.
Let’s be real, whether Sluzzy brought this up, or anybody else, there’s no denying the disparity in BP earned. And I’ve personally experienced this myself too: BPS, or multiple BPS, and for some damn reason this motivates the killer to make it as unfun as possible, and ensure the match ends in 4 minutes.
-
@Nos37 said:
I wanted a Terminator killer like this. It basically starts the match with 5 stacks of Fired Up. Its power would be passive: scan the survivor as you chase them, slowly revealing their equipped perks and items 1 by 1. Or maybe you have to stalk them to scan, sacrificing your move speed.
- If you find a survivor with Deliverance, make sure to hook them first.
- You'll know who not to slug.
- You'll know to bait the Dead Hard.
- You'll know about DS or Head On beforehand
...assuming you've spent enough time chasing them to see their perks. This would actually make some survivors afraid to be chased and actually feel Exposed.
Maybe the number of scannable things is limited by the game's progress:
- No gens done: Only items/addons are revealed
- 1 gen done: 1 (random) perk slot + items/addons
- 2 gens done: 2 (random) perk slots + items/addons
- 3 gens: 3 perks + items/addons
- 4 gens: 4 perks + items/addons
- 5 gens: Part of a SWF group or not + 4 perks + items/addons
This is probably one of the most unique ideas proposed yet. I think I like it.
-
I don’t particularly find Counterforce all that great to be frank. I was messing around with it in my No Mither build with Resilience. Sure it might come in clutch when the killer is just about to be on top of you, and you don’t mind taking a hit, or going down upon finishing a cleanse you otherwise wouldn’t have. But other than that... eh...
-
It’s working. It’s just that 20% of 14 seconds isn’t a massive reduction in cleansing time.
-
@Steah said:
Never use this perk unless you are stacking slowdown perks. Dying Light is the worst killer perk. M.Shrine may do nothing, but at least it doesn't give the Obsession a free Botany Knowledge
You’re not understanding the point of that. It’s to incentivise the Obsession to NOT stay constantly on gens. 3 survivors are afflicted with a DIRECT slow down, and the Obsession indirectly continues to slow the game down by trying to offset the rest of teams slower altruism abilities by going for the saves and heals wherever possible.
So although the Obsession is unaffected by the de-buff, and SHOULD stay on gens, they’re given a reason NOT to stay on gens.
-
I’ve lost count of the amount of times matches have been lost due to teammates stupidity or carelessness.
The amount of times the killer has gotten a 4K with NO gens repaired, or only 1 repaired simply because another survivor keeps leading a chase to my nearly finished gen, and NOBODY takes over after kiting the killer onto me is absurd.
