If you had gotten the Engineer toolbox, 30 seconds is the normal speed.
It was a regular brown toolbox with a socket swivel add-on (from using Ace in the Hole), not the engineer or mechanic's toolbox. And no, the +100% box does cut down the timer to 45 seconds if you have no add-ons, but endless stacks.
Normally, it only shaves off around 9 seconds worth of progress, if you don't run charge add-ons -

Sables tend to be simps so they tend to be spared, leaving you to be killed.
I find that in 95% of the games that I play it is in fact the opposite. It is almost as if the killers has a fetish for Sable, and wants to tunnel her a lot.

It… shouldn't count the add-ons multiplicatively. Do you have video of you instantly completing a gen from these custom matches?
No, but I really wish I recorded it.
The gen was literally done in like 30 seconds.
Next time I get online with them, I will record it and make a post about it. -
Streetwise is broken. Period!
Tested it out with @HeroLives in a custom match, and I can confirm that it definitely BREAKS toolboxes, to an extreme degree.
A regular brown toolbox has 16 charges, or roughly 18% worth of a gen's progress at 50% increased repair speed.
A brown toolbox with a socket swivel add-on increases the speed to 80%, but you still have 16 charges.
Now, a brown Streetwise toolbox will have 28.8 charges, and from what I can tell, these charges stacks multiplicatively, when you do the chest swapping bug. Not only that, but it also counts the add-ons you are getting on the toolbox too, and stack them multiplicatively.
So, let's say you swap the item 10 times in the chest:
This brown toolbox will now have 288 charges (3.2 gens worth), and a repair speed of around 270%
If that is not killswitch-worthy, then I don't know what is. -

its a wasted perk slot for the killer now, all survivors have to do is to pick their items up again.
Well, survivors still have to run back to get the item that was dropped. Time wasted, that could have otherwise been used on a gen.

Damn, that is a very good tattoo

While this is a necro, it is still a problem worth talking about.
Treacherous Crows has still been lumbered with so many unnecessary conditions, that makes its already limited use completely pointless.
It's downsides are:
- Takes 60s off generator time to perform the rite.
- The rite has to be performed in basement, which can be ratted out by aura perks and be very costly.
- Permanently injures and applies broken to the survivor.
- Can't be performed at the same time as another rite.
Weaving Spiders is actually something you can make work. The benefits of 10 charge BNPs applied to all gens is actually quite a good effect, enough to justify this list of downsides with the right build.
The aura read on Treacherous Crows though... is not. It doesn't matter how you slice it, you can't really afford just the 60s off gens for the effect... doing that is ALREADY a pretty meme build... let alone justifying the permanently injured as well...
It's one chance at relevance was being able to do it at the same time as Weaving Spiders... that would be something at least... but no, we don't get that either...
So Treacherous Crows is just in this daft spot where no matter how much of a fun build/off meta player you are, it's just waaaaaay too bad to even consider using... and that's saying a lot coming from me 😶
I have also asked this a few times.
Why is Invocations not allowed to stack? Considering how niche and under-used these perks are, that would be the best way to buff them no?
To clarify: If you bring both Invocation perks, you should be able to do one ritual to activate both, not two separate rituals. -
This Sable will not let you down 😉

Am I seeing a necro-thread?

Again, it's not about forcing the 2k and 3k to occur. What's being said is these games tend to be the more engaging and rewarding to play, regardless of wins and losses, and it would be nice if things were often like that. This is probably because these matches likely have a more even skill range. If four average survivors and an average killer are put together, the game has a better chance of being more interesting and having less one-sided results. A 2k or 3k is the logical result of good matchmaking, rare as that concept is.
Here's one of my examples of a recent unbalanced game. This poor Nemesis didn't stand a chance. Bad matchmaking does not make for fun games and I think it's responsible for a lot of one-sided blow outs.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2CZ6452AV3PB/1986c61faa496-screenshoturl.jpg
You do have a point about the matchmaking, or rather a half-point.
The one-sided matches comes when there is back-filling of lobbies, if the killer dodges for example. I have seen this happen way too many times, and since that algorithm prioritizes a fast back-fill, then more often than not, you will end up getting matched against someone of a completely random skill level. -

Killer build combos you get sick of seeing, but not because they are strong or OP, but just because you see them so much it's boring and predictable. For me, it's Wesker + Plaything. It's almost like running that perk is mandatory for Weskers.
Again, it's not op or anything, it's just that Wesker has such a high pick rate and most of them play the same. Mix it up a bit will ya, lol
Anybody else have ones that come to mind?
Huh, most Weskers that I have seen run Friends till the End paired with Nowhere to Hide.
Gotta love bringing Alert + Calm Spirit against them -

We had stricter SBMM when it first released. Then sweaty players whined that they had to actually play against other sweaty players like in every other competitive game. That's the real reason it got changed. Content creators in particular were flipping out. God forbid the loaded Blight has to play against a degenerate SWF. The "long queue times" argument is just an excuse.

I remember that being used as an excuse back when ranks were a thing. But in reality, the queue times were pretty identical to what they are today.

A spider themed killer would be a cool idea, but I am firmly in the camp of getting a velociraptor as a creature-based killer instead.

As someone who has been living and breathing Mass Effect since cirka 2014, this sounds like a great idea.
Maybe not the Collector General is the best suited as a killer character, but a Reaper Banshee is. Those things are nightmare fuel, with their screams and insta-kill potential. They have a Nurse-like blink traversal power as well, stemming from the unstable biotic powers within the corrupted bodies.
And I mean, the design on these things could very well fit into DBD -
DMS has a cooldown though.
It's not like the killer can spam-hook survivors, and refresh the duration on DMS.
But I am surprised you didn't mention Friends 'till the End when it comes to "over-used" killer perks atm. -
You guys might have a point. I was also drawing parallels a few days ago when I looked at the Tryks icon, and compared it to Sable's Winged Paté hair-do. This can't be a coincidence, considering the hairstyle and color match up so well.

They just want us to keep playing more. I kind of liked not having to log in every day to complete the rift. I was hoping to take a step back from this game, especially with the return of the go-next prevention, but now I fear I won't be able to.
This was the original complaint when the quest system got brought out in the first place.
The fact that many players simply don't have the time to grind out all the milestones, as compared to the tomes, which gave much better rewards per hour of play.
And now it has been made even grindier? Just why? -
- Legion.
Do I really have to explain why, or mention anything that hasn't already been said here. I just find the games against Legion to be an absolute snoozefest. - Trickster.
Simply because he lacks counterplay on so many maps (too few LoS blockers or tall walls to run him on), and how often he can spam his main event. Also, why is he a base 115%, while most other ranged killers are 110%, which means he gets penalized less for playing bad, since he is fast enough to catch up to you and just M1 you. - Twins.
Fortunately, they are rare, but every time I hear the sound of Victor being released, I am almost inclined to hit the DC button, because how frustrating he is to play against, often amplified by the fact that I at times play on high ping, so dodging that little goblin's pounce is often times hard.
- Legion.
-
I found it very useless, but it could have been user error too. Either way, the killer was easily able to track me through the smoke.

Silent as a ghost :)
Also, considering the abundance of screamer perk usage these days (looking at you Friends till the End), it is actually kinda nice to counter them with a very underrated perk.
By the way, I am the nice kind of survivor who follows the ABC's of DBD. Always Bring Cake.
Also, to @Rizzo, now we need a Sable avatar on the forums 😉 -
Thank you all for the congrats <3

Bring Doctor into 2v8 - Imagine all the screaming 😆
-
- The Nun - Honestly surprised we haven't gotten this one yet.
- Jason Voorhees (F13) - Since that game is no more, perhaps BHVR could land a license deal to bring this icon into DBD.
- A velociraptor - Does not have to be from Jurassic Park/World, since Resident Evil has a sister franchise called Dino Crisis. This could also feature a survivor. - And this creature would go well along with Xeno and Demo.
- The Mountain Man - From the Cold Prey (Fritt Vilt) movies. This guy would be creepy. Could also have his counterpart survivor to join the roster.
- Pennywise - I mean, that would be amazing.
- Lady Dimitrescu - RE: Village. If BHVR brings out another RE chapter, this should be it.

Honestly man, try running my perk build and let me know how it goes.
Dark sense, deja vu, sprint burst, premonition
Those 4 perks and item of your choice will help you, and yeah randoms will hide until u initiate chase for long
Yeah, I have seen too many "doing gens, u?" in my games lately. Pretty sure @HeroLives can attest to that fact, since we have been playing a lot of duos.
And it usually ends up with me running the killer around until I eventually exhaust all corners of the map. -
Demo and Slinger maybe.

Add: The option to play on nighttime variants of maps like Eyrie and Coldwind, which burns my eyes out.
Remove: Trickster

My take would look something like this:

I'm based in Europe, and I often times play with people from the US. Hi there @HeroLives
While I have around 40 ping on my local European server, I sit at around 120 ping on the US East server, which is manageable against low-ping killers in that region. But as soon as I see someone who has more than 100 ping, things get crazy fast. It is as if the netcode can't handle ping differences of more than around 200 ms. Like, I have been hit more times behind walls and at the safe side of a window than what should be allowed. -

So I have cakes and can play him during the year. I never play without cakes, it's not effective…
But I am simply not interested in other survivors. I have played near 700 games since last anniversary (on Jeff), so I would like to gather that on him again, so I can play him.
Issue is right now I have just something under 300 cakes on him, because it's just so slow. I may get my goal on him, but I doubt I will manage anyone else, which just annoys me a lot.
I was hoping to increase prestige on some killers, but devs said nope.I found bulk spending to be really efficient. I have already gotten around 500 cakes on my Sable, while going from P68 to P84
Not counting the ones I have spent though -
I'd say that the icon packs are fairly safe to use.
As long as you use a pack that only modifies perk or character icons (like the classic colors and character scheme), you should not have to worry about any bans.Do not use any mods that gives you a competitive edge though.

I'm a bit surprised by my stats. My escape rate is almost half, but it sure doesn't feel like it sometimes, especially when I have those days where I die in every single match except the last one, lol.
To answer the question, my longest chase time is 3 minutes and 9 seconds. I wonder what chase that was, lol.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YTSS69I120C5/dbdstats-30days.png
I had a 4-gen chase last night, but I don't think it counted as continuous, since it shows that my longest chase is only at 1 minute and 15 seconds.

Absolutely agree, small sample pool, I didn't get to play much in the last 30 days, plus the hours are still spread between killer and survivor, but those are the stats they asked for so… Still doesn't change the fact that even you will agree with… survivor is pretty friggin chill, compared to killer. Or are those stats of yours purely SWF?
Mine are for the most part solo/duo queue

It's kinda funny that ppl are still gonna ask for proof, even tho its perfectly possible now… ppl will still not believe you :D
You do have a small sample size, and not that much play-time to work with though. Let's see how the average turns out to be after around 250 matches played.
For comparison sake, I have almost 4 times as many games played, just on Sable alone, and this is also not factoring in all the hundreds of matches I've played of Chaos Shuffle or 2v8 mode. -

Another factor would be how much time you played before killer role was buffed so much. I exclusively play solo Q and my older P100 Nea & Claudette have a significantly higher escape rate than my newer Lara Croft main, even though I have significantly better game sense and running ability than in 2020-2022 when I was maining Nea and Claudette.
Apparently I've gotten worse at the game…nope. They just keep buffing killers so you can keep improving your skills and game knowledge as a solo Q player and your average escape rate will likely still decrease compared to years ago. It's a very lame feeling to not be rewarded for actually learning to play more skillfully. Joining a 4 man SWF with 3rd party comms and Reshade filters really just ruins the spirit of DBD…which is not CS GO.
What's more relevant is the escape rate in your past 30 days assuming you've been highly active, because obviously playing 1 match in the past 30 days won't be an accurate metric. Playing with a competitive 4 man SWF team will inflate escape rate, and so will having played a ton of hours played in the pre 6.1 era of 2020-2022.
I have been quite active over the past two months or so. I am also mostly playing solo or duo. Not sweating in a 4-man SWF.

I'm from EU too, play in the day, never at night. What does "play casual" mean though? Is this why the overall survival rate is so low? cause ppl play "casually"? I would be so saddening to know this is the case, that killer keeps getting nerfed due to most survivor players not playing to escape…
Casual mindset means that you don't really care about the end result, you are just there to have some fun.
-
@Munky said:

I play 100% solo Q only. And I used to be a killer main. My total hours played would still suggest I am. I only play survivor more in the last 1-2 years cause its so much more chill, and easy imo. Either way I am not surprised at all by my 60% escape rate. I have always known survivor is just easy mode if you know the game and don't get to many top 5 killers (which is the case for solo Q). What surprised me is that there are actually ppl below 50% that aren't new to the game…
The average escape rate is around 40-45%.
But there are several factors that comes into play, such as region, time of day, week-day or weekend, and what kind of killer you face against.
In my region (EU), the best time to play is usually at nighttime during the week-days. Matches has been the most chill at that time. I guess my 51% escape rate with Sable can somewhat prove it.Besides, I play mostly in a casual manner, unless I am specifically going for an achievement or a challenge.
-
To those who are confused about the hour count:
The stat tracker only tracks in-match time, not total in-game time (like Steam etc.) It also does not track time spent in limited time game modes, such as Chaos Shuffle or 2v8. All things considered, I think this is a great tool to see how we as players play the game.Anyways, these are my stats
General:Survivor:
Killer (Note: My low killrate is due to me loving to joke around with the survivors)

the grade based matchmaking was so bad,
Dbd has never had a real matchmaking system lol
Ranks were genuinely better at keeping new players out of skilled lobbies, but even then, rainbow ranks 😂
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3943065#Comment_3943065
I liked freezing people
They actually brought that back with perks
I remember rainbow ranks becoming more present during 2020.
It was never that bad beforehand, so it could have been an early test of the MMR system. But DBD in 2019 had a solid matchmaking system. Most of the time when I played back then, I rarely ever saw any rainbow rank lobbies. Most were consistent around the same rank as mine. Plus or minus 1-2 ranks.

The hype for a DBD classic mode would die off really, really quickly, old versions of DBD were busted and full of incredibly unfun or flat out overpowered bullshit that got changed for a very good reason
And knowing this community, people would play it for a day, realise infinites, old dead hard, old mettle of man, old nurse, old legion, etc. are back, and then leave because playing against that crap was and would still be infuriating
The game has gotten objectively better with age, going back to a point where the game was less polished, less balanced, and less fun is a bad ideaNo, it wont. Seeing how popular the classic modes of several older games has been.
Take World of Warcraft and Runescape for instance. Their classic versions has a lot of active users on a daily basis.
Classic mode was a hit in Overwatch, so much so that it brought back the classic 6v6 mode. So, your argument holds very little weight here. Classic modes can absolutely be popular over a long time.

There is a reason that these things got changed 😭
And there's a reason a lot of people want them back.
I made a lot of memories with old dbd, as did many other veterans. While the 2016 iteration of the game may have sucked, the 2019 and 2020 iterations were arguably better than what we have now, what with all perks on both sides being nerfed to the ground, all to achieve the same relative balance state the game has always had.
I started in 2018 myself, and I am absolutely with you with this statement. 2019 DBD was peak.

I was thinking of you making this post :)
Did you enjoy playing old Sym again?
Porting everyone off of the map :D
I tried the classic iterations of many characters that I often play in OW2, which was really fun, and it was a much different take on the game. Something that DBD could easily have done.
Keep the modern graphics, but use the old lighting and thicker fog. That would have been awesome, and then they could have done the most noteworthy patches in a rotating playlist. Granted, to make things a little more fair for killers, having the QoL feature of kicking generators would definitely be welcome.
I'd totally see the original 1.0 patch, along with a few others from the history of the game.
Maybe a tip for the 10 year anniversary next year.PS: Judging from your profile name, I guess you got it from the "Should have picked Mercy" song.

Fwiw you don't need to play every day. I'm at tier 80 and I've only played two days over the past week, and missed many days in the weeks before. The milestone quests (I do both killer and survivor) helped significantly. I've missed many many dailies.
I too have been playing off and on for the past weeks, and I am at level 100 (infinite tiers).
As long as you do some of the event challenges (such as chaos shuffle and 2v8) you can easily get the pass to 100 -

Well said, my friend.
I think it is pretty funny how easily the argument that "the average survivor is bad at the game" changes to "every 4 man SWF is a depip squad". And that is with a DBD that hasn't been even remotely survivor sided in years.
What players need to understand, imho, is that DBD is more than the individual skill of a player. Every match has several factors deciding its outcome, you're not going to win every single time and that is okay. That is just how the game is.
Well said General.
That statement stands true for pretty much every team-based game.
I have noticed this especially when I have been going for killer adepts. Survivors who work together has a much better chance of getting someone out, instead of when they just play for themselves.
