Pain Res is too easy to force gen regression when paired with DMS and Grim Embrace. It's not even the perk by itself that's the problem but its synergy with other perks. We need a meta shake so these killers stop relying on the same 3-4 slow downs so just nerf Pain Res, Eruption, Surge, Grim Embrace and DMS to make Dead by Daylight great again.
-
Nerf all the killers to make the game balanced and fair again. Right now it is way too easy to practice a killer for 20 hours and get 4K against survivors with 1K+ hours each. There has to come a point when killer mains learn to chase and kill survivors instead of letting the devs get the kills for them (cough cough Knight cough cough).
-
Solo Q is a masochist's wet dream
-
I don't care which map so long as its not balanced to tightly hold the killer mains' hands like all the other maps are.

You opinion… a low skill killer might disagree. thats my point. a new player with 3 hours of gameplay being matched with survivors with 500 hours? thats not going to go well for the killer, maybe they then decide F this survivors are op…. you cant use that argument for one side and dismiss it when its used for the other side.
that's gonna happen way less often since there will be a far higher percentage of matches where the killer stomps the survivors.

exactly, people cheat for many reasons so you associating it with killers being op as a reason why people cheat doesnt make sense and there is no basis for that assumption as there is evidence to say killers and survivors cheat for various reasons. The exact same argument could be made in reverse, killers that are struggling to keep up with gens and op SWF swat teams turn to cheats due to survivors being op. Maybe survivors getting 50, 60 or even 70% escape rate isnt enough and they want 100%? To attaching cheating to game balance genuinely makes no sense at all because like you said people will cheat for many reason.
Unless…..your saying its the reason why YOU cheat, then you may have a basis for your assumption that others cheat for the same reason as you.
they won't turn to cheats due to survivors being OP cause survivors aren't OP
-
yes and the longer you loop them, the more they hump you because they absolutely loathe the fact that you can outplay them despite the game being designed for them to win by default. at this point playing Blight with a broken build is just soft cheats that BHVR lets slide because they make so much money from these killer mains.

how is saying cheating is worse than ever now saying survivors are cheating due to op killers? if what you say is true we wouldnt have killer cheaters would we, why buy cheats when the role is already op? makes no sense at all. we have only recently had a spike in spirit players with no cooldown hacks and insta down chucky. we still have the usual insta hook nurse. By your logic, your saying these killers buying hacks due to OP survivors when they have S tier cheese tactics they could use instead? Its more accurate to say low skill players would opt for cheats as these players are on both sides.
people cheat for many reasons, winning is just one of them. for some people, 80 percent isn't enough…they need 100 percent win rate, cheating is the easiest way to do that.

Quite untrue.
We still saw high levels of cheating when Survivors were overpowered when I started playing. Even if you subscribe to the notion that Killer, as a whole, is overpowered, that clearly has nothing to do with cheating.
Giving away the game for free on Epic was, perhaps, the biggest mistake BHVR has made.
but people say cheating is worse than ever now. so we're seeing higher levels of cheating as killer role is made unreasonably powerful. cheaters have just found the most efficient way to win, by basically hacking the matrix. abusing cheese tactics with an S tier is just a bit less efficient than the cheater's strategy.

Cheating has nothing to do with balance.
Cheating affects ALL of us negatively.
unfair game balance is an incentive for the losing side to cheat. people will still cheat if the game is fair, but they're gonna be more likely to do it if one side is blatantly overpowered by design.

So you in post above kinda promote cheating? Thats how I understand it.
The balance issue is one thing but claiming "cheating is ok because of balance" is dumb thats like saying commiting crime is ok because justice is blind, very dumb opinion indeed the cheating is for noobs and its not acceptable.
Cheating is like giving giving motorcykle someone who is in running competition becasue its not huge deal.
I ain't promoting cheating, I'm simply describing a cheater's psychology. I just said I don't care to report cheaters that give the OP killers abusing cheese tactics a hard time. People say cheating is "bad", but you have Blight players like Momoseventh will just dunk on survivors that stand no chance of winning all day long. how is that any better, really? just cause its "legit" its still exploiting terrible game balance without consideration for the opposition's experience, which is basically what cheaters do. it would be like Michael Jordan slam dunking against 4 basketball players in wheelchairs for a career…lol. like it doesn't really take much skill or intelligence to dominate with Blight. the cheaters just 1up Momoseventh by finding an even more clever solution than playing Blight with a busted build.

So if the killer does bad it's always their fault but if the survivors do bad it's always the game's balance?
Not always. But since killer is the power role you have to screw up worst in most cases to lose against opponents of equal skill level.

they do not count abandons as escapes. they do not count abandons at all, no escape or death. if you abandon 9/10 matches and escape 1/10 it will say 100% escape rate but it will not say you escaped 10/10 matches. it will say you escaped 1/1 because the other 9 matches were void….didnt happen, not existent. This is a big difference. while it does inflate escape rate, it does not show in recent matches as an escape. so looking at previous 30 matches is actually a better indicator than looking at escape rate. And cheating is not related to balance at all, there are cheaters on both sides so it wouldnt make sense if it was a balance issue.
that's what I meant but didn't feel like explaining it. killers are always complaining that there are way more survivors cheating. I don't see as many killer cheaters unless they're using wall hacks. regardless, there is less incentive to cheat when playing easy mode cause you win most of the time.

So what about when 3 gens pop and there's no hook? Is the game favoring survivors, or is the killer bad? Or is their a whole spectrum of options in between?
you have to really screw up badly as killer for that to happen. any average killer should get their first hook before a single gen pops with the current game balance.

Dont litter my post with this nonsense. This post is about cheating, not balance.
But since you are so eager… If killer in general were OP at all, then why do I have 60+ escape rate as a solo… I wonder if I actually get many lobbies with cheaters in it to get to that stat… But I'm sure you'll just attempt to discredit by saying I spam abandon to get there.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZHUXG2HZZO9T/stats-kate-30d.jpg
Lol easy question. The stat tracker is broken because there's a bug that counts abandons as escapes meaning your stats are artificially inflated. Btw, cheating is related to balance, you can't separate the two.
-
This is what happens when one side is made so ridiculously OP. The losing side just says, "well, might as well cheat cause the devs won't give us a fair chance to win". In other words, the killer mains brought this upon themselves. All the survivors they tunnel out and abuse cheese tactics against…well now you end up in high MMR facing the best of the best and cheaters. This is called karma. And for the record, no I don't cheat, but if a Blight/Ghoul/<insert name of broken sweaty cheese tactic abusing killer here> gets cheated against I really do not care at this point and will not be reporting them since killer mains are already using political lobbying to skew the balance in their favor.

I can't play more than a couple killer matches without people AFKing/sandbagging to go next, and it's always because they feel like the match is hopeless, like when I have 4 or 5 hooks with 5 gens up. There really needs to be something in this game to make a match feel worth playing even if a win is unobtainable.
You have 4-5 hooks with 5 gens because the game is terribly balanced in favor of killer.

Yeah, sure sure. We believe you. You are basically god in human form.
Best player to live, sadly you are so strong, it would be unfair to give killer any nerfs. We have to buff them more to balance you.
Being sarcastic towards an experienced player that is exposing the truth of the game's imbalance won't change the fact that this game is heavily killer-sided in a way that is unprecedented in popular PvPs. If Dead by Daylight were Rocket League, it would be like putting a Gold rank player (killer) versus a Champ rank player (survivors) and seeing balanced results.

BTW protip, if you have an issue with other survivors getting tunneled, use Babysitter :)
I escape more than average because my skill level far exceeds the skill level of the killers and survivors I am put with. Doesn't change the fact that the game balance is terrible and needs to be fixed instead of handholding the killer mains when they throw a tantrum on Twitter/YouTube/Reddit,etc.

If you suck at survivor, use WoO and exahustion perk. Very difficult to have bad chase with those…
If you are good survivor and still can't escape. Find decent SWF, but more likely you are just not as good as you think you are.
My escape rate is above average and I consistently run killers for multiple gens a match. I've played since 2016. Everything I said still remains true about the state of the game balance.

@PetTheDoggo said:
If you lose more than you win as a killer main, it's a skill issue, no matter what killer you choose.
So you just want to trash talk players, who refuse to tunnel and simply don't have macro level gameplay to play without it?
I would expect survivor mains to try encourage that…But I guess it's easier to go for another rage bait.
All I offer is the truth.
-
BHVR tried to fix the issue with the anti-tunneling/slugging/camping update. Unfortunately the devs had no backbone and almost entirely scrapped the update not because the update was bad, but because killer mains are unwilling to adapt and content creators used propaganda to convince the hive mind that the update was bad.
-
@まうっす said:
Survivor players can practice chasing. Calling the tactics that killers choose to gain an advantage 'unfair' is nothing more than a mindset unsuited for competitive games.
They're cheese tactics. Tunneling/slugging/camping take a few hours to "master". Running a killer for 2-3 gens takes far, far more skill from the survivor than any killer needs to secure a 3-4K.
-
Honestly its a joke cause its even rarer now to get a med kit which is the best item from a chest. So the fog vial nerf also was a nerf to chests. So they gave survivors a nerf in the name of giving us a new item…that no one uses because killer mains cried too hard.
-
when I play solo Q survivor the killers run away from me so much that it makes me the real killer.
I face a lot of blights and ghouls and springtrap in the NA. Nurse is more rare cause her learning curve is 20 hrs instead of 5
-
they can see that data internally. they need to fix the existing stat tracker before they make it more complicated
-
Clearly they're doing their part for the team, getting the gens done. The other survivors…neglecting their responsibility of holding chase long enough to finish the gens.

so instead of potentially being forced into tunneling, you expect 3 tactics to be nerfed? would that not force people into 1 play style of spread hooks? currently people have a choice, they can tunnel, slug, camp, spread hooks if they choose to. remove 3 of those tactics and killers are only left with 1 thing to do. sounds pretty linear and 1 dimensional to me. spread hooks, if you cant do that….tough.
Why would killer mains be ok adapting to the changes when survivor mains refuse to adapt to tunneling? its not like tunneling has no downsides or counters. there even perks designed to counter it. But instead of adapting and learning to counter it they complain. its not surprising killers then took the same approach.
I don't want tunneling, camping and slugging completely removed, just disincentivized. Currently they are simply too easy to do yet have a massive payoff. Currently, killers that abuse these cheese tactics can beat survivor teams well above their experience level. Killers would still be able to tunnel, slug and camp all they want, it just wouldn't be as effective a strategy as it is now, so killers would actually have reason to spread hook states and would be rewarded more for choosing the more skillful strategy.
Tunneling/camping/slugging are far more difficult for survivors to adapt to given how little skill is required for a killer to abuse them. A baby killer can have quite a bit of success with these cheese tactics whereas the survivor team needs to have far superior game sense to counter it.

@runningguy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4041606#Comment_4041606
not forced, some people can do ok as m1 killer without tunneling. but for someone that cant do very well and wants to win….yes, tunnel. do what needs to be done within the rules of the game. Thats what i do on both sides and i have minimal issues as survivor and killer.
Of course any player can technically do what's within "the rules" of the game. But…people can still argue the rules should be modified. The anti-slugging, tunneling and camping changes would have incentivized less cheese tactics and more skillful gameplay from killers. But the killer mains didn't want to bother to adapt. Instead of completely scrapping the changes in response to the social media outrage, BHVR could have tweaked the numbers to be less "punishing", while also nerfing the strongest killers and buffing the weakest killers if necessary.

@TheSaltySaloon said:
Sorry for the long title, but it’s basically the thesis of my statement:
Balancing the game solely around S-tier killers and SWF bully squads ruins the experience for anyone trying to play a basic M1 killer or solo-queue survivors. The top-tier killers Behavior keeps releasing are so oppressive in their base kits—map traversal, passive debuffs, projectiles, stealth—combined with meta perks, that maps are forced to have 45 pallets just so solo queue has a semblance of a chance to escape.
However, this creates the opposite problem: basic M1 killers are dragged through pallet hell, struggling to down a single survivor as they throw eight pallets in a row, wasting massive amounts of time with little to no consequence. At the same time, average solo-queue survivors suffer against these overtuned S-rank killers, whom they have almost no chance of beating without a coordinated team.
Of course, the current model of meta killers didn’t come out of nowhere. They were designed specifically to combat SWFs—and here lies the real problem. Each new killer is made more powerful and oppressive than the last. SWFs complain, receive new buffs or perks that further disrupt balance, and Behavior responds by releasing even more overtuned killers. The cycle repeats endlessly.Meanwhile, anyone just trying to have some silly fun with a basic M1 killer or playing average solo-queue matches suffers as collateral damage.
The way Behavior develops this game feels like a snake eating itself.Well, I agree, except I think killer mains greatly exaggerate how bad it is for "m1 killers", even Trapper. First of all…many "m1 killers" can be very deadly in the right hands. So just labelling a killer "m1" and complaining about having to break multiple pallets doesn't mean they're underperforming. Every killer has an above 50% kill rate meaning even the lowest tier "m1 killers" still have it better than most survivors. So I really don't see how a killer character who wins more than half his matches has his experience "ruined". That just sounds like a fair and balanced PvP experience, and in just about any other popular PvP game 50/50 is considered fair. It's only in Dead by Daylight that one role feels entitled to win far more than the opponent without playing more skillfully.
-
@Classic_Rando said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4041583#Comment_4041583
Yes, and that is by design. It’s an asymmetrical horror game. The devs have stated many times that the target kill rate is 60%, average escape rate 40%. I play both sides and that feels fine to me. I fully realize that a lot of people who only play one side don’t necessarily agree.
I never claimed it wasn't by design. OP asked if they were "good survivors". If they're losing despite a killer-sided balance, that should tell them something. If killer mains already have their hands held by the devs, then they shouldn't act like they're the victim.
In a lot of my matches the killers literally run from me more than they chase me. Makes me wonder who the real killer is.
-
Every single killer in the game kills more than survivors escape. Let that sink in.
-
Okay I don't actually do the challenges on purpose but I do get flashlight saves quite often as I always bring a flashlight. This often turns around the momentum of a match completely. And no this is not in baby MMR I have 4K hours and do this to highly experienced killers when they least expect it. I run Sprint Burst and Vigil which helps to get into position when the killer thinks I'm too far. I rarely go out of my way for a flashlight save. I just do the gens and often a survivor gets downed somewhat near the gen. That's when I go for them.
Flashlight is also very useful for protecting tunneled survivors because they can't tunnel a survivor they can't see. And to disorient killer at pallets...it's always funny watching the killer walk around like they're drunk and by the time they realize which direction I went in I'm long gone. As for Lightborn, I have no problem when killer brings that since they use up a perk slot which means one less Pain Res, DMS, Corrupt, etc. After the first blind attempt fails I know they have Lightborn and now they've wasted a perk slot to nullify my flashlight.

You don‘t have to turn off gens frequently. Just the ones that affect you while doing gens, which is normally one. Doing so gives you 0 condemned for the first time and turns off the TV for 70 seconds. This is normally enough to do a gen and if everyone in the team does it she can literally not use her power.
She can only see your aura for a few seconds after she already teleported and when she has that one addon, which gives you more than enough time to turn the TV off before she can teleport again.
Good Onryo will tele before you get to transfer the tape. Just watch One Pump Willie he doesn't even need aura add on to dominate 4 man SWF with Onryo.

she can see your aura before you can turn off the TV. and if you turn off the TVs frequently you get tons of stacks which makes it easier to Mori you.

It feels like they still want to play, but the experience has become so miserable that instead of stepping away,I've always struggled with this and DbD - sometimes it is the best game I've ever played. Sometimes its the absolute worst. One of the issues, and I think it's getting bigger, is people conclude (frequently too quickly) that the game is in 'worst' territory and just try to get out as quick as possible. Unfortunately once people get into that mindset it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
Pig games can be super lame since her buff. Not even defending this instance specifically in the Otz clip. But often Pig players will just run some broken Penti/Thrill hex build against a solo Q team that has no means of coordinating efficiently, and it is extremely boring to play against. Once they inevitably down and trap a couple weak links on the team, you can't finish the gens and if you try to get rid of totems you just get downed. So you just end up either playing for hatch, or if you're the one that's been trapped, you just run around to the boxes until you run out of time. "low tier" really doesn't make much a difference in Solo Q where your teammates are often "low tier" and competent killers can make the so-called "low tier" killers perform very well.

S tier in baby MMR maybe when people don't know what tapes and tvs are and are getting moried but definitely no where near S for the majority of players.
Any competent Onryo just destroys survivors at the macro level and denies inserting the tape since she can read your aura. Mori's the first survivor quickly then the last 3 have no chance.

During some of the laggy PTBs, I've had lunge attacks forcibly turned into short M1 attacks, even with zero environmental objects nearby, and the attacks didn't hit the survivor. I assumed that was also because of aim dressing, because I don't know what other game mechanic/bug could forcibly end my lunge attacks early.
Because I would expect that when I'm in a laggy PTB, that if the survivor is too far away to hit (even though the survivor looks close on my screen), that the game would just allow the lunge to fully complete.
Don't forget human error. That's the most likely culprit. You were stressed out and made a mistake and then you start looking for excuses to protect your ego.

Onryo is S tier already so if you're struggling that comes down to a skill issue. She gets to be invisible intermittently to help you sneak up.
