Yeah their whole "We did research, because we said we did, please believe us" article. Which in the article it seems their research reached the limits of a proactive reddit forum, and no further. Literally you can change every word of Behavior to Blizzard, and every word of David to Tracer and you get the same thing that happened in Overwatch.

Next they will be randomly mentioning Yui's gay with an image, because of their "research". (Popular character liked by the LGBT+ community, same thing happened with Soldier 76 in Overwatch).

Though I have no place to argue, by technicalities it means BHVR met their promise, and this represents some people I am sure. It appears to be more of a marketing direction which is what is disappointing to see. I had expected professional writing and story-telling for a whole new character that many can relate to, but at the same time be it's own story (which makes it more relatable).

I mean, do you have a reason to doubt them beyond pessimism?

It's funny you mention Overwatch when this situation is the same copy/paste "We've made one of our characters gay to shut up the masses" that Overwatch did.

It's less of just having a gay character, and more of having an LGBT+ character that you connect with from their initial lore instead of it being thrown in after.

It's the whole throwing in after the fact that makes it appear forced. After the outrage, after the demands, and after the authenticity. It's also the same situation copy/pasted from many other game companies. "We need a gay character" "This character is liked by the gays" "This character is now gay". Instead of connecting with your LGBT+ community, researching their past, what they had to deal with, what they were feeling, and the characters they connect and empathize with to use as references, etc. Basically ignoring all the work and research into good character creation.

I mean, the article linked in the other thread mentioned the research that they did on the subject, so idk.

Okay but only if DS is disabled or shortened during the EGC

    Disabled please.

  • No, I think that's a totally fair move.

  • I'd rather the 4% be replaced with something that isn't reliant on RNG.

  • Killer: Pig - I like trying to live the dream of Reverse Bear Trap kills

Survivor: Jake - I like his Blighted costume (but with a different pants).

  • This is a wordy way of saying that tires don exits.

  • A significant reduction in the amount of grinding that needs to be done.

You don't have to do that though. If you play normally you're very likely going to get at least two bonus traps. If you're hellbent on tunnelling survivors to death then you're gonna get less, but that's not really an interesting way to play the game and I'm not interested in incentivizing it.

Reckon you could lower it down to an extra trap per two tokens. That'd give it a nice synergy with Make Your Choice but I think an additional six traps would be too strong

At three tokens, you won't get your second trap until you have gotten enough hooks to effectively wipe out two Survivors. Against competent Survivors, that is no easy feat as the Pig and not worth it compared to just tunneling two Survivors out of the game.

I feel that at two tokens per Trap, you now have too many Traps at your disposal (particularly when paired with either of the extra Trap add-ons). At that point, you functionally have close to infinite Traps.

..... hooking survivors is work? What's not work then?

Going after unique Survivors six times without losing the game in the process is a significant amount of work if you're the Pig.

  • I wouldn't use that add-on, personally. That is an absurd amount of work in order to have an add-on that is better than Jigsaw's Sketch.

The devs have said it’s not bannable and don’t plan to address it. It’s a very stupid thing that should not be possible.

I don't think it should be bannable, but did they actually say that they don't plan to address it?

  • Can we fundamentally weaken Boons by adding a cooldown whenever the Boon is snuffed and then buff the Boons that are now too weak?

  • All of them. :<

    Best iridescent? Compound 33.

Worst? Maybe either waterlogged shoe (hag) or the obsidian goblet (PH). Freddy’s black box is a good candidate as well. I might be forgetting something else too.

Amanda's Secret on Pig. The one that turns off Jigsaw Box auras for Pig.

  • Delay the roar on the Pig's ambush. There are definitely other changes I'd make, but that one seems like a safe QoL change.

All killers? You are joking right?

Bubba, Huntress, Plague, Artist, Spirit, Oni etc don't need any buffs.

Can we at least make Soldier's Putte base kit for Huntress? It's a neat effect in a vacuum, but it's nowhere near worth the UR rarity to me.

  • Your personal belief here hinders you for no benefit. If you are okay with that, then fine. If you are not, the solution has already been presented to you.

  • Killer should definitely not be given access to that unconditionally. MAYBE. MAAAAAAAYBE. A perk that could VERY conditionally grant that in a very limited/temporary fashion. And even then, probably not.

  • Taxi Build. Have been using it almost constantly for months now.

  • I would love being able to try practicing against bots. Also would be a great way to play with/against my friend who plays DBD without the only option ever being SWF Survivor.

Also, I didn't get any questions about ranked/unranked games. Weird.

Ture I think having the key move to a different box would be a fair compromise if the pig is AFK in front of the box the survivor needs to go to as it means the pig would have to move. If she is close enough to completely block access then it moves after say 10sec. You realistically shouldn't be standing that close to the box for that long even if its end game and the last player is scrambling to get their helmet off. Even if they start you can pull them off or push them away. I don't want her to be hit heavyhanded because its not fair to people who play her legit and I am afraid this will cause them to nerf her because something is being used in a way that was not intended.

I personally don't think the Pig should be punished for successfully catching someone at the last box, especially with how many things need to go right for the Pig in order for that to happen.

  • I've been running the meme taxi build for ages now, so sabo squads are a non-issue for me.

  • The only thing they really need to do is just re-work Video Tape, as it's clear to me that the re-work for that specific add-on was a complete bust. Making the box somehow searchable from all angles would also be good, though that requires changing the Jigsaw Box model and likely needs approval from IP holder. Anything beyond that to address the AFK Pig issue risks being way too heavyhanded.

  • I prefer putting the Boon perk on a cooldown whenever it gets snuffed so the Survivor can't start to reapply it immediately. Maybe even make it so the cooldown increases each time the Boon is reapplied.

Okay one sec, so survivors aren't supposed to wiggle out? Wouldn't that make the game pointless? I don't think that a hook or wiggling out should be guaranteed, but are you suggesting that survivors shouldn't have a chance? I never walk into a match expecting a 4k.

Wiggling out is supposed to be difficult by default. The game is not designed around Survivors being able to reliably do it because hooks are supposed to be how Killers gain pressure.

  • Is Call of Brine actually any good with Killers who don't excel in mobility (like Pig)? Seems like with all the kicking and stuff you'd have to do, it'd be more trouble than it's worth.

Okay, I'll give you some examples:

ex1 (tinkerer + Merciless Storm + Thrilling Tremors) : you get the information in enough time to get to the generator that is at 70% with the right killer, and manage to catch the survivors in the skill tests at 90%, making them miss and block the generator for 20 seconds. With enough skill, you can take down a survivor in the exact time the generator unlocked, grab the survivor, and block the generator again.

Ex2: you use the perk alone (Merciless Storm) in a blight/Nurse, it makes the survivors miss the skill by blocking the generator.

Ex3: Other synergies (pop, surge, eruption, opression, corrupt Intervention, Surveillance): And look how many other perks you can combine together: Pop (hooks and kick the unlocked generator), and you don't even need perks to hook the survivors in Scourge Hooks with right killers, just use Surge to take down the survivor on the time that generator was unlocked and with Oppression and Surveillance you have enought information about how many others generators survivors are working that you can kick (eruption) and activate merciless storm again and create a loop effect with generators once by once exploding at 90% at a time

Ex4: Or if you want to risk it, use ruin and zone the generator so as soon as it gets out of the block, it starts to regress, but which is unnecessary today, just use Call of Brine or eruption because then you can kick generator and have the same effect of the ruin perk.

there are many other examples, just don't invent using combos without any synergy (like use ruin + kick perks) or doing things in the wrong order (yes some combos are more casual than others)

Ps: merciless storm does not activate once in the entire match, it activates once on each of the generators that reach 90%, and then deactivates for those generators.

I feel like of all the examples you gave, the only one that has a little bit of use (and still not even that much) is Merciless Storm + Tinkerer. Anything that needs you to kick the generator or causes steady regression anti-synergizes with Merciless Storm blocking the gen, and Merciless Storm by itself is pure gimmick that is easy to overcome. It's certainly a cute perk, but certainly not good either by itself or with other perks.

  • There is definitely merit to the idea, but we are way past the point of feasibly being able to implement it without causing WAAAY more frustration than it's worth.

  • Hate it, and that's despite the fact that it's an awesome map for getting Reverse Bear Trap kills.

Yeah thats not funny Arthur, thats not the kind of comedy we do here.

Maybe you don't actually know the meaning of comedy, then. ;)

  • I think it is actually a very amusing prank. Take away a perk that some players claim isn't as good as everyone thinks and see them make the same claim. :O

  • I like the idea, but let's do it for BBQ and Chili instead.

  • There has better be a way to resolve this. This feels sleazy if the devs do nothing.

  • That doesn't sound like OP flashlight. That sounds like outrigt hacking.

  • Wording implies that they had plans to nerf it again already but the popular demand convinced them to push it out sooner.

Devour Hope/ Haunted grounds/ Retribution/ Crowd control/ Third seal/ Plaything... i don't see much how it could be reworked in that way to be honest.

Crowd Control can tie the length of time to number of totems. Third Seal can do the same for blindness (starts at very high time, then the time gets reduced for each totem that gets cleansed. Play Thing can highlight a specific totem that needs to be cleansed tie the aura range to the number of totems (i.e. you can cleanse other totems to make the aura range larger and larger). The other three I will give you, yes (as well as NOED).

For Ruin it works... but i don't know about others.

I'd say it works on more perks than not. Only a small handful of perks would be completely incompatible with this idea.

  • I've never been crazy about Hexes because of the huge variance involved. The one idea I heard that I really liked was that Hex perks should be reworked and rebalanced to have their abilities scale with how many totems are still in play instead of having an "eggs in one basket" approach where cleansing one specific totem shuts off a hex perk completely.

  • I imagine the intent was that the larger TR would intimidate Survivors into backing off sooner than was necessary. Nowadays, it's quite uneccesary unless you are actively comboing it with something cares about having a larger TR like Starstruck.

  • I would have said Pig previously, but the buff to Amanda's Letter did help elevate her add-ons A LITTLE. She still has way too many garbage-tier add-ons, though, and Amanda's Secret is still in the running for weakest non-meme (as in it's not deliberately designed to be hard mode) Killer add-on IMO.

  • Yun-Jin and Trickster :P

  • For Killer, it should only be available after a certain point in the game (probably closer to the end game).

For Survivor, it should be available after a certain amount of time and should be unanimous among all Survivors still in the game.

  • No need; whataboutisms are already ignored. :P

You aren’t guaranteed to die. There is just a very high chance one of you will.

There are all the same elements of the game present with the high stakes gamble that one or more of you may be screwed.

It’s a high stakes game of chance of which many exist and is not directly representative of bad game design.

It could only be considered bad design within the very narrow confines of what people expect from a game of DBD, which is an equal chance to escape or die. It’s far from the “pinnacle of bad design.”

I like the fact that some scenarios make it hopeless zero sum as it’s threatening and very on theme.

I don't mean that if the Pig does this, you will die. I mean that if the Pig does this, it is possible to create a scenario where you die regardless of what you do

It is indeed the pinnacle of bad design because it creates scenarios where your input in the entire game can be 100% invalidated with no say in the matter. As far as game design sins go, it does not get much worse than "your agency as a player has no meaning." While DBD as a whole definitely has its share of problems, none of the elements of DBD (or Saw) are present in the scenarios where AFK Pig is in play and she's sitting in front of your box. You can't out maneuver anything or out-strategize anything or make any sort of meaningful choices that influence your play. Either your team knows exactly how to counterplay this strategy and just employs a series of steps that successfully does so, or they don't and you die. Or someone else also needs the same box in which case it does not matter because someone is going to die. It's no better than an add-on that renders any number of players unable to move for ten minutes or a perk that has a chance of automatically causing the Exit Gates to open at the very start and a chance to permanently stay closed. I can't imagine how "being allowed to make meaningful choices" can be considered a narrow view of what to expect from DBD when that's the baseline expectation from most games as a whole.

  • Having Deadlock base kit would screw over Pop Goes the Weasel hard IMO.

  • Being a Pig main is suffering sometimes.
