  • I think the nerf with Billy is perfectly reasonable. Having an unlimited chainsaw that takes you all over the map was always a bit OP.

  • What has changed? I can't find any information.

They said in the past they would do some giveaways with it but as time has went on it seems that idea was thrown out and im not shocked as to the reason probably being 90% of the community uses this feature to troll like perfect example as killer when i see a survivor do something insanely dumb at the end i props them for their bad play as a meme.

It also could just be the developers have a lot on their plate and they had to delay the idea of giving away stuff to those who have the most props.

Yeah that's a shame. I love giving props to good players, but if they have no way of knowing then why bother? πŸ˜•

    What's the point?

    -No DS

-No Kindred giving away your position

    -No Borrowed Time

    -No worry about sabotaged hooks

-You can instantly go for another survivor instead of going to hook the on you've just downed or worry about unbreakable or another survivor picking them back up. Making Infectious fright super useful.

I agree. With everything that no longer plays a part with the cages, you don't need to be camping them too.

It's a good build. I'd say he doesn't have a perk that really shines on him (think of Stridor on Spirit, for example). You can run the typical meta perks and be just fine. The exception is that the only chasing perks I would use are Enduring or I'm All Ears, no SF or Bamboozle. And even then, I don't think he needs them.

Yeah that seems to be the general consensus, that no one perk works really well with him. And I wasn't blown away by his own perks either.

I played 3-4 games (1 solo survivor, 3 killer) "Sorry guys I'm a Pig main"

My survivor game was me R13 and a R17, with two R19's... against a R1 killer (legion)

My killer (R3 now... god I hate myself) games were almost the same 1-2 double digit ranked survivors. But the last game was all red ranks (and a message saying that "he owned me the entire game" but he died so... IDK what the point was)

Anyway the point is they blew up MM to come up with whatever is next... Also the MM now is less focused on skill and more focused on connection

I noticed the same thing. I'm a rank 11 killer and I constantly get matched against purple and red rank survivors. Yet my rank 4 survivor gets matched with level 15 through 19 killers. I have to imagine that the reason why this is happening is because there's so few people playing killers that the game will throw any killer your way so that the queue times in your region aren't any longer than they already are.

Part of me wants bhvr to take their time, but another part of me wants them to just release whatever the hell they got and patch it along the way. πŸ˜•

  • @Mozzie said:

As I mentioned in another post, however they decide to fix it the mmr should be killer specific, not killer overall. People who want to try new killers shouldn't be greeted to swf red ranks.

That right there is what prevents many people from testing out killers. Dead by daylight should let us be able to either activate bots in custom matches, or at least allow one person to enter into a custom match so that way we can tinker around with a killer's abilities without being expected to compete.

It's far easier to try out a survivor when there's three other survivors watching your back. Bottom line, there needs to be a way to test out Killers without forcing people into matches.

  • @Tricks said:

New player goes up against a team of rank 1's, instant refund.

Continued borked match making = less retained new players means longer wait times and less revenue for behaviour to develop new content to retain existing players means even longer wait times.

    I'm coining a new phrase.

'Fix matchmaking' - it's the new 'Do bones'

Honestly at this rate new players are probably thinking that it's pointless jumping into DBD. With the way the matchmaking is right now, it's giving new players the impression that it's too late to hop into this game.

  • @Kabu said:

They're working on it. They won't tell us when it will be released until it is closer to its release date.

I know. It's just sad though because it's hard telling when that will be. It was supposed to be released in June, but they recently stated that they're doing more tests, and if those tests proved fruitful then it will be released soon, otherwise it will require more tinkering. And God only knows how long that could take.

  • I can't give any advice for Legion, but Freddy is really good. I'm a Freddy main myself, and Freddy is already both anti-loop and has great map pressure thanks to his teleportation. Every perk with him is just gravy. Personally I like Corrupt, BBQ, Discordance, and PGTW.

Man I want to play killer more but the queue times during the day are 5+ minutes and the only time they're fast is at night when I usually play with my buddies :(

Better than the 10+ minutes I have as survivor.πŸ˜•

  • Yesterday for a few hours me and a friend played some survivor matches together, and every single killer that we went up against wasn't any lower than rank 12 (i.e. 12 and up), and I'm rank 4 and he's rank 7.

Those killers that were rank 15-17 I felt really bad for. In one match we went up against a rank 16 Plague, and they had such a hard time that when it came time to open the exits, she opened it for us and let us escape!

Is it any wonder that queue times are so damn long for survivors when as a killer you're constantly being matched against survivors far outside your experience level? No one wants to play killer and I can't say that I blame them.

  • @Aneurysm said:

Nah I wouldn't bother. It only affects them when awake, the lullaby like with huntress can't be altered

Yeah I was afraid of that. I was running it with my Freddy, but it slowly dawned on me that it's probably a worthless perk once the survivors are asleep. I'll probably run Overcharge which would be a nice combo with PGTW. So my build would be overcharged, BBQ, PGTW, and discordance.

Testing has already been happening for a little while now in some regions and platforms. I can't give more details right now, the next steps depend on the outcome of those tests. If everything's successful, we'll be rolling it out to everyone soon. But if t needs some more tweaking before it's ready, we'll take the time to do it properly before pushing it live for everyone.

Thank you for what you all do. I appreciate it!

Ghastly Gateaus are being fixed in the next hotifx, a new matchmaking system is gradually being tested in some regions, VPNs should become a non-issue with the upcoming server side hit validation, and bug fixes are on the way. As for the new map, while I don't discount your opinion, it is exactly that, an opinion. I've seen a lot of people say that they like that map as well.

Just about everything you've mentioned is being worked on and should be resolved in the near future, some (Gateaus) sooner than others.

Can you say any more on when we can expect the new MMR? The livestream in May stated that it should be released next month. Since that's not happening in June, could you shed any more light on when it will happen?

People disconnect/get thrown out of the game once in a while. Don't assume he clicked the leave game button.

The OP edited the original post. Originally they stated that he/she left 5-6 games and didn't get penalized.

  • With matchmaking the way it is I wouldn't be so focused on leveling up. Just have fun and the experience will follow. Having said that, the doctor is very much reliant on teachables from other killers. STBFL, discordance, BBQ, corrupt, POP, can all work well on him. Being able to attack fast or slow down the early game is what you need to focus on most with him since he doesn't have a lot of map pressure.

It happens. When I was rank 12 Killer, I too used to meet red rank survivors.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/367JLLZJMZM0/jpg.jpg

But you learn more when you go against good survivors. It will be a tough time for a while. I learned how to cut loops, pressure gens, etc. As a result:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BEV6E2YNCN3S/jpg.jpg

Yes I did change my name to 'Behind you' after I started playing myers xD(you can check my old name in my steam profile)

And recently I have reached rank 1 Killer:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/THF29L1XM5D5/2-jpg.jpg

Yea the matchmaking in green-purple rank is pretty tough but will be a meaningful experience

I agree that there is certainly something to be said about getting better when you play against people better than you. Having said that, playing games is how I unwind at the end of a long day, and while playing a 4v1 game can be challenging, it shouldn't be stressful. This is one of the reasons why queue times are so long for survivors, it's because more people would prefer to play survivor than killer. The matchmaking is so skewed that a good swf match can walk all over any killer, especially if you're newer to the game and don't have access to killers that have better anti-loop mechanics and map pressure.

In many ways dead by daylight is pure pay to win since the best perks are attached to DLC survivors and killers. And considering just how many killers are dependent on good perks and add-ons, it can make DBD a very frustrating experience for casual players, especially since there's no way to test out Killers they've never played with before without needing to get other players online for a custom match.

  • @7snowboards said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1397994#Comment_1397994

Thank you for the advice, have seen that nurse is very very difficult. Does that mean it is probably good to practice it in the low levels where I don't need to worry about rank as much?

If you don't have other friends to create a custom match with, then I would almost say yes it would be better to practice with her at lower levels. One of the toughest things about playing new killers is not having a chance to practice with them without having to compete online. It's what keeps many people from playing killer. If more gamers got a chance to test out Killers, than I think there would be a whole lot more Killers mains out there.

  • @7snowboards said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1397956#Comment_1397956

One of the reasons as to why I wanted to play it in the first place is because its straightforward and not something like the nurse which I may try when I get better at the game.

Nurse is a completely different ball game. The nurse is one of, if not THE best killer in the whole game, but hands down the hardest to master. She has a wicked learning curve, and unless the developers plan on incorporating bots into custom matches or allowing us to load up custom matches by ourselves, then I would highly recommend practicing her with other online players in a custom match.

  • The new matchmaking was supposed to be up and running this month, but since the new event brought with it a lot of glitches it's hard telling when the new MMR will see the light of day.

  • As others have said, discordance and PGTW is a must. BBQ is also really good as it can allow you to see survivors working on a generator off in the distance which will then allow you to immediately teleport to that generator and kick it with PGTW. The fourth perk that I like to run is monitor and abuse as it can help you to get closer to survivors in the dream state before they become aware of your presence.

  • When I started playing dead by daylight, Wraith was my go-to killer. Sloppy butcher and Bloodhound work really well with him when starting out. As you get higher in level though, the Wraith becomes really difficult to chase down survivors with. Wraith doesn't have any way to slow down loops, and when you start facing survivors that know how to loop a Killer really well, the Wraith really starts to falter. Unless you equip his best windstorm add-ons, the Wraith has no map pressure to speak of, and the only way to make him a force to be reckoned with is to unlock perks from other killers: BBQ, Corrupt Intervention, Surveillance, PGTW, etc.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1397711#Comment_1397711

I'd even settle for the ability to join a KYF with no survivors in the lobby just so you can test out your power and learn the maps; bots would just be gravy. An empty map would still be good for practicing killers like Nurse and testing out add-ons.

I agree. Seeing as how custom matches aren't ranked, I don't understand why DBD can't let you load up a custom match by yourself. I mean if custom matches can give you access to perks you don't even have, then it should at least be able to give you access to the map.

  • I'm a level 12 killer and I'm constantly going up against purple and red rank survivors on PS4. It sucks. The developers said that the new MMR was supposed to go live in June, but considering just how many bugs are present with the new event, I wouldn't count on the new MMR anytime soon.

One of the things that makes playing killer so hard is having to compete with other players on a killer you've never played with before. I know that there are custom matches but you need other people to be online or in your party, and for those of us that don't have a big friends list from which the pull from, it would be nice if you could load up a custom match by yourself, or at least be able to turn on bots in a custom match. It would certainly encourage people to play more killers, and quite possibly shorten the wait time for survivors.

  • @MadArtillery said:

After the buff he's legit. Forces fast pallet drops giving him a powerful midgame.

The only buff he's really gotten is that he doesn't slow down when aiming his bottles. He still needs more tweaking, but it's nice to see that he at least got that. Now they just need to really focus on buffing Bubba.

  • @Parallax said:

There is no set release for crossplay, but it is coming out this year.

I wouldn't hold your breath. The new MMR was supposed to be released this month but that's clearly not happening. If it is then the devs have a few more days to prove me wrong! I hope that I am, but I don't see it happening.

  • He's not really bad, he just takes a lot of practice. The downside about any killer that can throw projectiles is that there's no reticule letting you know where the object is going or where it's going to end up. And unlike deathslinger and the huntress, the clown's bottles are thrown in an arc which makes it harder to determine where it's going to land.

I wish there were bots in custom matches because it would be a great way to test out Killers without being expected to compete and needing other people to be online in your party. It would certainly encourage a lot more people to try out killers. Personally I want to try out Ghostface but given the rank that I'm at I would be going up against purple and red rank survivors, and I really don't want to do that with a killer that I've never played with before.

  • I can't wrap my head around the ranking system for killers and survivors. Tonight I played a match with Freddy and a match with Bubba, and as a rank 11 killer I was matched with purple and red rank survivors. In the Bubba match it was a rank 1 survivor, and Freddy a rank 4! However when I played a survivor match as a rank 6 survivor, I was put into a lobby where everyone from my teammates to the killer were all between ranks 15 through 20. I mean seriously, #########???

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    Pretty normal story for me.

I haven't devoted THAT much time to killer, so I'm kinda towards the lower ranks with my highest ever being Rank 8 before the Ruin rework. Gonna play a lot more killer now in stream. I'm not great, but I'm no potato.

Whenever I've had early DC's or hook suicides, I'll usually let the last one (or the nicest, who I'll try to keep alive) have the hatch as kind of a "Sorry your team suck, I'm not going to punish you for it".

I feel the same way. When I see their teammates sacrifice on the hook or disconnect I really hate killing everyone out right, especially the lone survivor after being matched with worthless teammates.

Tonight I played a match as Bubba and went against a swf team that ranged everywhere from a rank 1 to a rank 11(yay matchmaking πŸ˜•), and I could have gotten the 4K, but the last person left alive was trying to get a crown so I let her keep it, and I then had her follow me to the hatch and I let her escape.

  • @Midori_21 said:

"Leatherface is underrated and he has a point" - not really. Playing leatherface with his best perks and addons, and ONLY his best perks and addons, doesn't prove that he's underrated. It proves that all killers when using their best stuff can perform well, which isn't a new statement.

If anything it proves just why Bubba needs buffing. I would like to see True play him without any add-ons or PWYF. Because if he can do that and still clean house with LF, then mad props because he will have indeed proved that Bubba is underrated.

  • @Seiko300 said:

Depends on the killer, but you specifically said "if you have no map pressure" so I assume we're excluding high mobility killers, in which case Pop.

Discordance is a good perk for killers who do have map pressure, killers who can act and respond really quickly with that kind of information to traverse the map right away. Killers like Freddy, Hillbilly, Oni, Spirit, Demo, Legion, Nurse, etc.

It's also really good for Stealth killers too, who might not be able to apply pressure right away, but can use the information of who's where to their advantage and easily sneak up maybe even grab survivors off said generator. So Ghostface, Wraith, Myers, Pig, etc.

Hell, ranged killers can benefit from discordance too. So add Huntress and Deathslinger to that list (Huntress can obviously hit long ranged shots, Deathslinger can use perks to reduce his terror radius and sneak up closer without them noticing to make his shots)

And while that is indeed a lot of characters (that's why it's a good perk) PGTW can be used on everyone I just listed and everyone else because it slows down a gen. rush. And that's something which cannot be overstated

That's true, that's a good way to look at it. I was going back and forth on these perks for Bubba, and since Bubba isn't a fast-moving killer, pop would probably be better.

  • @LordGlint said:

Would be nice if you could at least get into a custom match solo for exploring maps. Often times how well you do in a match is heavily based off how well you know the map, something the new map illustrates due to how many people have trouble getting around due to not knowing where the stairs/dropdowns are.

Yeah just being able to explore a map by myself would be nice. Anything would be better than what we have now.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

It's very possible because bots are in the mobile version. If a survivor or killer DCs then a bot takes over.

Bhvr have repeatedly said they're not really interested in doing it though, unfortunately. Even if the bots are dumb AF it would still be nice to test out perks/powers.

I think bhvr also needs to think about the long game because when the day comes and they shut down the servers, bots is the only way to ensure that this game lives on.

  • And pop wins in a landslide! πŸ˜„ Thanks everyone!

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

Its actually really good to run both. Bbq, discordance and pop work amazing together.

I actually run all three of those along with monitor and abuse on my Freddy. But I keep going back and forth between what I want to use for my Bubba. I'm using nemesis, play with your food, and BBQ for the bloodpoints, but I can't decide on whether to use discordance or PGTW. I don't have ruin so there's no way to slow the game down so pop would be a great alternative to that, but at the same time knowing when more than one survivor is on a gen would help immensely.

  • @Sherry said:

Love this idea! This is the very reason that I almost NEVER play killer.

The mobile game actually has an interesting feature in that it has survivor tickets that let you test out survivors for something like 24 to 48 hours. It would be nice if such a thing existed in the main game for killers if they were unable to add bots. Because there's nothing worse than shelling out money for a killer that you don't find fun.

  • @Dacrenon said:

I agree, I think if this were implemented a lot more players would be willing to try out killer, but as it is there's no way to practice nurse without getting trashed on by survivors.

Exactly! It's like being thrown into a pool with Olympic swimmers when you yourself are just learning how to swim. LOL I've never played Ghostface before and I would love to try him out, but the last thing I want to do is go up against a sweaty swf when I'm just testing the waters.

  • I played a game last night versus a Freddy who had all of us dead to rights. He played really well and sacrificed two survivors, but he let me and the other survivor not only escape with crowns, but we all worked together to farm bloodpoints. I gave him a well-deserved thumbs up as I really appreciated him letting me leave with a crown.

While it is not necessary nor is it expected, it is certainly a welcome surprise to see killers and survivors playing nice during these events.

  • The devs have admitted that the cakes aren't working properly. There will be a hotfix coming later next week but until then they've extended the event through the middle of July and it will bring with it a blood point bonus.

  • @OldWiseOne said:

he`s still the weakest killer, need to run the same double green add-ons and the same perk build to even have a chance shows the killers issues, not to mention the fact ranking is messed up, alot of these red ranks belong in green if not lower... iv played a plague just using M1 no ability and no meta perks and i still won. a strong killer can run multiple add-ons (or doesnt need them at all) and can be used with a huge range of perks as well. i have respect for true and he is a great gamer but leatherface`s ability is trash versing actual red rank players and you will see in alot of his games some of the survivors have no idea how to loop, not to mention base bubba without add-ons is weak af

I agree that if True wants to show just how underrated Bubba can be, then he needs to show what it's like to play with him without using Nemesis and PWYF, and especially without add-ons. Strong Killers can hold their own without the need for specific builds and add-ons, but Bubba isn't one of them.

  • Bubba is a nerf! πŸ˜„

  • @CashelP14 said:

You realise he slows down to 86% speed when the chainsaw is fully charged..

Exactly. Bubba goes from 115% movement speed down to 86% which is a MASSIVE drop for 2 and 1/2 seconds. If he's able to catch up with you once his chainsaw is activated, then it's probably because he was either in your hit box when he started revving his chainsaw, or he has movement add-ons and perks like PWYF.

  • @Sherry said:

I love Tru, but I sure wish he wasn't encouraging Leatherface play. Leatherface is one of my least favorite killers and is so hard to play against. Kills me instantly much of the time.

Honestly he's not that hard to play against. Bubba is very much dependent on specific perks and add-ons for him to be effective, which is why he has to practically be on your ass before he activates his chainsaw. If you find him being able to catch up to you quickly or activate his chainsaw quickly it's because of add-ons or perks like play with your food.

Keep your distance as best you can and work on staying as close as possible to walls and objects when looping him. This will force him to rely on his m1 attack and not his chainsaw.

  • @bingbongboi90 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1391619#Comment_1391619

The thing is, leatherface is the same when he wanted to prove the wraith was underrated. These Killers are just very add-on and perk depended. And with that build of leatherface survivors can just pre throw pallets like what they do against doctor. Or the survivors are running the killer through Windows. If leatherface cant change the obsession with nemesis during the game then it would be really hard to win.

I like to main Leatherface myself, but I agree he is very dependent on specific builds and add-ons which is why he needs buffing. Killers should able to hold their own, and Leatherface can't really do that.

  • @DeathBeam said:

Billy because he's a top 5 killer. However I prefer using Leatherface so I can just facecamp instead.

I know it's incredibly easy to face camp with Leatherface, but personally I hate doing that only because of the pitiful amount of blood points you'll get for doing nothing (and just sitting there isn't exactly a lot of fun either). And smart survivors will easily knockout close to, if not all the gens while you're sitting there by the hook.

Proximity camping I can understand, but straight up face camping I can not.

    N0

Then I'll wait till the hotfix is applied. I can only imagine how disappointing it must be to see four or five birthday cakes and seeing none of them stack. 😠

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I mean most will say Billy, but the comparison only goes as far them both having chainsaws.

A billy is a pain in the arse because of his mobility, but a smart leatherface with perfect spacing will be impossible to juke once they’ve got their chainsaw going.

Very true. Once the chainsaw is going it's incredibly hard to juke Leatherface! But the downfall is you have to practically be up someone's ass because of how slow Leatherface moves while revving up the chainsaw.
