It would be great to have more blood hunt events but behavior is working on the mid year update. They will change the graphics and rework the clown. Plus the will soon start working on the new chapter so I dont thing it's that important.

If you want more bloodpoints you can use offering like bloody party It helps a lot

Very true that bloody party streamers do help a lot, but that's assuming you're being match against players that even care. Usually when I see someone bring that into a game I try to make the game last as long as possible as killer, but there have been matches as survivor where a killer just doesn't care and throws me up on the hook in then less than 2 minutes and the party streamers gave me a grand total 4000 blood points!😕

Nothing seemed off last night when I played against him from release early morning to late last night. His lunge is normal, his speed his normal in both modes, his reach is the same. You might be playing into his zoning too much and losing ground.

    Ps4 btw

Anything's possible. I'm certainly no expert when it comes to looping but I do okay, but I would go whole matches without ever being tormented and I still couldn't escape a chase. Like I said I'm no expert and no rank 1 survivor, but every match we played against a different killer I was able to hold my own without any problems. It was only pyramid head that was an issue.

  • @NursesBootie said:

He should have 115%, but it could be a bug too.

That's what we were thinking, but I know he has a long reach with that main weapon of his too. It was just interesting because no matter what we had equipped: Lithe, Sprint Burst, etc, he seemed to catch up in no time flat.

  • @tactic said:

He moves at normal 115% speed which you can see from his perspective (I’m a killer main so I’m kind of familiar with it)

what you can’t see from his perspective, however is his walking animation.

maybe his walking animation is slower and as a result he looks like he’s moving faster? I think Trapper has the same thing.

See that's just it though, I know statistically he only has 115% movement speed, but he managed to catch up with us in the midst of a chase better than any other killer. I'm a main killer myself and haven't had a chance to play him yet, but I've watched plenty of streams so nothing seemed off. But last night when I played survivor against him he just seemed to be incredibly fast. And everyone that I played with last night got that impression too.

Maybe it's just me, but it was weird.

  • Yeah I play on PS4 and I really wish there was a way to test out killers. Originally I was excited to play the deathslinger but when I realized that his playstyle wasn't for me, I was really bummed out because it cost me $8 to find that out. 😕

  • Yeah the clown needs more buffs, and Leatherface needs something, anything. Preferably not slowing him to a crawl while charging up the chainsaw would be great. That, and much better add-ons.

2 things make it a bad perk:

    1. As OP stated, a large number of maps have a low amount of crows or only limit them to the outskirts of the map (seriously, Rotten Fields has 0 crows anywhere in the corn despite the lack of any scarecrows, wtaf is up with that?). So a lot of maps need an update to add more crows to make the perk more viable.
    2. The loud explosion sound alerting you every time crows are disturbed by survivors gets confusing/annoying. Its the same soundbite used whenever a survivor fails a skillcheck on a gen, healing, when they vault/enter a locker loudly, or drop a pallet. As a killer, that information becomes crucial to how you locate survivors who mess up and capitalize on it, but with Spies, that sound is going off practically non-stop in some maps, and in the torrent of explosions it's easy to mistake a genuine screw up from survivors as just another crow notification, which can be a costly mistake.

This reminds me of why I think they should rework Spies from the Shadows to this:

Spies from the Shadows: The Crows no longer respond to your presence, you see the auras of all crows within 36 meters of you, and the crows cawing sound when disturbed is 100% louder to you within that range.

This gets rid of the confusing explosion sound notifications that get so annoying, you get no false signals since they no longer respond to you, and they basically become little signal flares to tell you where survivors are. If this change were to happen, Spies would become a better tracking tool as it would be easier on the eyes and ears as well as far less annoying/confusing. If they also went through and added a few more crows to the maps that need them, that would also help it become a valuable tool, but not totally OP since Calm Spirit and Urban Evasion still defeat it.

I agree completely that the notification sound should be changed to the bird sound. I know it shows a bird shape, but having almost every single notification in the game be a loud explosion is really annoying.

  • @coppersly said:

Maybe they're using a mix of the old assets that they will replace all together and the new ones specifically for the SH map that won't have to be changed anywhere else?

It's possible they designed two separate layouts of the new map, but that would seem like a lot of extra work. But I guess we'll know shortly

  • @SpookyStabby said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1355687#Comment_1355687

While I agree with this in a general sense, I'm inclined to believe it was intended as a pursuit perk, as it once was for my Legion.

I think it was intended as a chase perk too, but you'd have to be pretty oblivious not to notice scratch marks or blood trails in the midst of a chase.

It's just a bummer because as survivors we run past birds all the time, but the killer will never know it unless we're practically within their terror radius making it a useless perk for killers.

  • It needs a much bigger radius. On bigger maps like the wreckage yard, you'll be lucky to see more than a few notifications.

  • @csandman1977 said:

Mine is a toss up between jane and legion.

Janes voice gets on my nerves.

Legion cant do generators. But they have really cool cosmetics. And they can genderbend!

So Jane wins my least favorite survivor. Followed by Lori. Not because she is bad per se. Just that she brought OoO.

I second this. Jane's cries of pain are incredibly loud and very annoying.

  • It would be nice if these chapters brought with it extra blood points. Given the rank that I'm currently at playing killer, I would be facing some pretty tough competition from the survivors, so it would be nice if these chapters brought with it enough blood points to where I could at least get three, if not all four perk slots unlocked.

  • Yeah I agree with what others have said here. The clown is considered one of, if not the weakest killer in the whole game because not only do his bottles require perfect aiming, but you only have five attempts before he has to engage in a long cooldown to refill his bottles again, thus requiring a lot of practice.

Never played with the plague before so I can't give any tips there other than to watch streamers like Not Otzdarva who have managed to put together some great instructional videos for pretty much every killer.

I do play Freddy a lot and I would recommend putting snares down by pallets, in front of doorways and windows, pretty much places you know people are going to be at, especially at strong loops. Just don't spend too much time putting snares down.

I switched from PS4 to PC at the beginning of January. Between all the Tome challenges and the 1.5x Blood Rush, I have thirteen P3 killers and four P3 survivors in four months.

It actually doesn’t take as much as I feared to catch up.

I'm on PS4 myself, and unfortunately I only have a few hours a day to play this game. Because of this, the massive grind that I have in front of me really sucks. I have BBQ which definitely helps, but naturally all of the best teachables are at level 40 for most killers/survivors, and having to amass 1 million bloodpoints each time is really tiring.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

  • As a new player hopping into a four-year-old game, it sure would be nice to get a leg up on accruing more bloodpoints. I'm actually really surprised that bhvr doesn't have blood hunt events more often. Having at least one a month, or at least one every season would be beneficial

  • @TheRoyalOwl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1352440#Comment_1352440

I disagree, I feel like survivors get it much easier as its a 4 on 1 rather than a 1 on 4 for killer. Nothing feels worse than not being able to catch 4 survivors just to have them tbag at thr exit gate.

I've experienced this first hand. This is unfortunately the biggest downfall about being a new player in dead by daylight. The only way to hold your own as a killer against more experienced survivors is to engage in a lot of grinding to unlock more perks from other killers. Obviously playing your favorite killer repeatedly will help, but there's only so much you can do without adequate perks to counteract a well oiled swf.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I was going to link you a video, but that video is based on PC game play.

Unfortunately, most of the top tier killers are heavily limited on console (and Oni is a top tier killer).

Yeah I've watched quite a few videos of him being played on PC, but since I'll be leveling him up for the nemesis teachable I was just curious of how easy or difficult it is with a controller. I know his dash attacks can be made a little bit more precise with a mouse, but I wonder how it is with a joystick?

Great points! thanks! I just don't understand that no matter what you bring killer just isn't fun it;s frustrating. I wish there was more variety

then you turn on survivor and it's a breeze and gets boring that way

You're welcome! One thing that will help immensely is to watch uploaded streams on YouTube from streamers like not Otzdarva, Ohmwrecker, or TrU3Ta1ent. But if I had to pick one I would go with Otz because he does a lot of uploads that teach you the best perks for each killer and survivor, even if you're just starting out.

  • I've only been playing this game a few months and while I can understand your frustration (because I've certainly been there and still kind of am because of this current matchmaking system), I have to completely disagree about it not being fun. When this game fires on all cylinders it's an absolute blast. The downside as a new player is that no one killer or survivor has the best perks, meaning it's worth your time to unlock teachable perks, which forces a lot of unnecessary grinding.

As a new player hopping into a four-year-old game, it would certainly be nice if I had a leg up on accruing bloodpoints. Quite frankly I'm amazed that bhvr hasn't incorporated more blood hunt events.

I'll admit it's taken me a while to unlock multiple teachables, but I'm finally getting to a point to where I can hold my own as both a killer and a survivor. And now I'm starting to have more fun than just pure frustration.

  • @notsonew said:

i might only buy pyramid head with AC, but honnestly, i hate everything about this chapter but the map, the perks sucks, the killer power is so easy to counter, just take the second hit to avoid the torment effect and so make him hook you, easy to dodge long rage attack, not worth buying really,

I still think there's a lot of potential to have a lot of fun with Pyramid Head. That being said, I've seen a lot of streams lately where a lot of players got a chance to play test both the new killer and the new survivor, Cheryl, in the new map, and I think it speaks volumes to see a lot of streamers using perks that are not exclusive to either Pyramid Head or Cheryl.

Cheryl's best perk looks to be the one that locks down a gen preventing the killer from kicking it, but even then it prevents you or any other survivor from working on it, while at the same time letting the killer know that this is a preferred generator that the survivors are going to go back to.

So I don't know. Pyramid Head still looks to be a lot of fun, Cheryl not so much.

  • He definitely seems like a great antiloop character, but I would like to test him out first. This right here is one of the biggest problems about dead by daylight - the fact that you can't test out a DLC character without purchasing them first. I thought the deathslinger would be a really cool character that I would enjoy playing as, but come to find out the FPS mechanic just did not suit my play style at all, and unfortunately I had to spend $8 to find that out.😕

  • That's the downside about swf. Not only can they communicate at all times your location and what you're doing, the fact that they can continue to feed information even after they die is something that honestly blows my mind. Once you're dead you shouldn't be able to communicate back to the people you were playing with.

I'll admit that I've taken advantage of that feature. I mean, who wouldn't? Me and a few friends of mine like to play this game together, which means that there's usually one random that's always having to join our team. And on more than one occasion one of my dead teammates was able to communicate the location of the hatch back to those of us still standing because they saw the hatch through the random player's camera feed. It's cool, but that kind of feature definitely makes the team OP!

  • @LordRegal said:

There have been SWFs that I steamroll as killer, there have been SWFs that steamrolled me. I still think it's ridiculous that we've had the SWF feature this entire time but the game is still balanced around no comms. Even when against a not-top tier SWF, the comms are a major problem the killer frankly has no counter to.

I love this game, but damn is it frustrating not knowing how the game would have gone had they not all been calling out every play I made to each other.

I agree. I'm actually quite surprised that they couldn't incorporate a feature that would prohibit dead survivors from being able to communicate to the rest of the swf team. I'm no developer so I don't know if such a thing is even possible, but it sure would be nice.

  • As a newer player myself I can relate in feeling stressed when it comes to playing killer. When you're just starting out at level 20 it's not so bad, but as you move up through the ranks the game has a wicked difficulty spike. Before long you realize that ranks don't matter as your "level" is in no way indicative of your skill, which in turn makes this game a nightmare for newer players. I used to wonder how a level 15 survivor could have so many fully upgraded teachables from other survivors, and then it dawned on me that it was because it was a very experienced player who hasn't played for a few months.

The new MMR can't get here soon enough!

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Peanits said they have been testing it in a few areas behind the scene, what areas these are have not been mentioned for obvious reasons.

When its ready to go fully live they will let us know. They tend not to say exact dates for things like this as unforseen problems can arise and this community has been extremely critical in the past when dates were mentioned and a delay happened.

    Hopefully it's still this month.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

My rank didnt reset this morning. Maybe they implemented it and ranks dont reset now? Is that a thing? I dont see any announcement though

My rank did reset which is why I was kind of hoping the new MMR went into effect. In my last two matches as a level 13 killer I went up against a team that consisted of two read ranks and two purple ranks, and in both of those games one of those red ranks was a rank 1 survivor, and they definitely played like they were!

I'm halfway tempted to stop playing for a few months so that way I can get matched with people on my skill level again. But with ranks meaning nothing I'll undoubtedly come across other players that are not real level 10-15 survivors.

  • Player toxicity

  • I know they said last month that the new MMR system would be implemented next month, but here we are halfway into the next month and there's been no communication about it. I get this sinking sensation that it won't be ready to go live this month and new players like myself are just going to have to grin and bear the incredibly imbalanced matches.

  • @coppersly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1348250#Comment_1348250

Rank reset seems like an arbitrary relic from the past at this point. I'd rather have the 13th of every month mean something new is changed in DbD. Idk something more meaningful than "this rank that no longer means anything is being reset so you can climb it again for no reason"

I agree. I've only been playing this game for a few months so I'm still very new, but even I caught on real quick that ranks mean nothing in this game. A very experienced player could stop playing for a few months and go all the way back to 20 which makes it incredibly unfair for new players.

  • @coppersly said:

It's quite possible some if not all of a certain platform (almost certainly PC) would be implemented in the new MMR system.

It's also quite possible nothing is happening until the anniversary update or later.

I thought that too but the anniversary update is only a few days away so again it would seem weird to reset everything again so soon.

  • @Dpooly said:

@SweetTerror Why not? Aren't they still in the game even though they're just hanging out? With SwF on comms, it doesn't matter which Killer you're playing, you already have a full plate to deal with. Ghostface is ENTIRELY designed on being sneaky and getting the jumpscares. You can't play every Killer the same way.

But back to the thread topic, just thought I'd add how amazing Stake Out, Diversion and Breakout synergize. I generally throw Mettle of Man in the 4th slot because inevitably you're gonna get smacked.

You're not wrong about him needing to be stealthy, but no other killer loses their power simply by being looked at. And knowing that his ability is rendered useless should another survivor be near the hooked survivor can be really frustrating. It's why so many Ghostface killers face camp.

So yeah I would like for it to be changed, but I also understand why it wouldn't be.

  • @Dpooly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1346036#Comment_1346036

Agreed on reworking Bubba, don't agree with Ghostface's stealth being cancelled though. If you stealth in someone's LoS regardless of being hooked you aren't exactly being stealthy. If you're gonna proxy camp, at least go around a corner or something...be stealthy. My favorite thing to do with Ghostface (although doesn't work as much as I would like) is sneak to the opposite side of a gen someone's working on and Stalk them when they aren't looking my way. It's priceless watching them mess up a skill check running away when they realize I was there the whole time and 99'd Marking them.

I just feel that until you're off the hook, you should play no part in what goes on in the match (besides perks like kindred already do that). If it's a swf match, the person on the hook is already feeding the team information, and having the hooked person be able to cancel Ghostface's power for as far as the eye can see, is I think, a bit much

  • @Dpooly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1345275#Comment_1345275

Too bad most people that play Bubba (in my experience) think you have to face/proxy camp to secure kills...he comes with one of the best Killer perks imo for tracking other Survivor's after hooking one (With a BP bonus to boot). He's actually fun to play as but I don't generally choose him due to DC rates as soon as they see who it is. I think with an upcoming chapter, they should look into making a Survivor perk that works similar to Camaraderie but with the Killer's Terror Radius instead. (Unless EGC is active, of course)

The face camping should be a clear sign that bubba does indeed need a rework. I also unfortunately see a lot of camping with Ghostface which drives me absolutely nuts! Because while it is frustrating, I do agree that a hooked survivor looking at you shouldn't be able to cancel your "stealth mode".

For me it wasn't healthy option to grind for highest faceit rank. It might work as motivation booster to many but for me it meant burnout. Some people live for grinding the shiniest ranks/titles/achievements, some play for fun. I try more to play for fun and ranks are pretty much meaningless but that does not mean I'm not competitive spirit and sometimes try my hardest to win.

Yeah I've been having a rought time as a new player. I mostly play killer and matchmaking really does love to put me against people that are in another dimension in terms of skill and knowledge.

I'm in the same boat. I've only been playing this game for a few months and although I've managed to get to rank 11 with killer, the game puts me against purple and red rank survivors ALL THE TIME. Sometimes I can hold my own but most of the time I don't. I do just well enough to not depip, but this matchmaking system ensures that I have a harder time than anything.

  • @hahadrillgobrrr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1345244#Comment_1345244

This happened to me with CSGO. 4 years nonstop playing and rank meant everything. Got burnout, didn't play for a year, started playing again and it is fun again. Also stopping caring about rank took a lot of stress off.

I completely agree that prioritizing fun over rank is the best way to tackle a PvP game, but that's of course assuming the matches are fairly balanced. With DBD you could easily have an experienced rank 1 killer or survivor get reset all the way back to 20 should they not play for awhile, thus putting them into games with less experienced players. It's why this game is a nightmare for newer players.

  • @LordGlint said:

I swap around enough for it to stay fresh for awhile. By this I mean I swap between several killers, lol. Last few days Ive gone back and started working on some of the survivor challenges that I've skipped and having a blast with that. Typically I play killer like 95% of the time...so getting in survivor games is thrilling for me, lol. If it DOES get to be too much though, can try swapping to a different game for abit. I took a 3 month break from DBD and played some Warframe on my switch. My rankings on both sides had dropped to like 17 before I came back, lol

This right here is what makes people stop playing DBD. Stop playing for a few months and your rank is reset all the way back to 20 despite the fact that you are clearly not a level 20 killer / survivor. The matches become incredibly easy and boring for you, and incredibly difficult for the newer players.

Definitely! I only have Wraith leveled so far so theyre actually about the best I have available to me, along wuth bitter murmur and iron grasp but I don't feel a HUGE disadvantage yet since I'm still low rank. Would love to get nurses on him soon (I know it's in shrine but since I have her I don't want to waste the shards haha)

I initially felt that way too about nurse's calling, but I soon realized that there were a lot of other perks that I wanted more, plus the Nurse is really hard master. Because of this I wound up purchasing nurse's calling in the shrine and haven't regretted it since it saves me about 1 million bloodpoints.

If anything I would heavily recommended getting BBQ and Chili with LF first since that will increase the amount of bloodpoints you get rather substantially making it a lot easier to upgrade killers/survivors to get the teachables that you want.

  • @Danu said:

I love love love this combination as killer!! I'm not very good at chases yet still so it's such a huge help for me

On survivor I like detectives hunch and inner strength, I loved the idea of tenacity and unbreakable but I find killers don't slug much and as soon as they see tenacity they will never ever slug you

Yeah as you get better at the game you'll find yourself moving on to more meta perks that synergize together really well. But regardless sloppy butcher and Bloodhound always make a great combo!

  • Matchmaking in this game is atrocious, but hopefully the new MMR that is being implemented will fix a lot of our woes. I would like to think that it would go into effect either on the day of the reset, or the day of the new killer being released.

This is a picture of one of Ohmwrecker's games from last month, and you can clearly tell that he should not have been in this match. I find it hard to believe that the game had such a hard time finding survivors that it had no other choice but to throw in a survivor ten levels lower than the rest of the players.

Right now you just have to have fun and shrug off the hard matches and the toxicity. I know it's easier said than done, but you have to find the silver lining somewhere. Sometimes it's hard to be a killer against clearly more experience survivors, but even if I lose the match at least I'm walking away with a lot of blood points.

Shadowborn is very nice since it basically prevents survivors from being able to take advantage of the limited first-person perspective.

  • I'm so tired of seeing these questions pop up because of players griefing other players for not playing the game "their way".

You want to use a mori? Use it! You want to use noed? Use it! The developers didn't put all these items and perks in the game for them to be overlooked and not used. Have fun and play the game the way you want to play it. Each match is only like 10 to 15 minutes long, and griefing someone over such a short play time is absurd.
