  • With the right perks and add-ons Leatherface can be fun and deadly (he is after all one of my favorite killers!). But that therein lies his biggest problem. Without the right perks and add-ons, charging his chainsaw takes way too long, and his speed slows down way too much.

Killers should be able to hold their own without the need for perks and add-ons, which is one of the reasons why Leatherface needs buffing.

There's no possible way to do it, though.

I play primarily solo, but on the weekends I usually play a few SWF matches with some work buddies. We use Discord for comms -- no way to police a third party voice chat app.

Yeah there's definitely no way to prevent people from using third-party apps to communicate to one another, but if they can find a way to disable chat for dead swf members within the actual game itself, it would be a good middle ground for any lingering issues about the power of swf.

I'm the rank 15 survivor and not swf with the red ranks. The red ranks died to a rank 13 killer...

That matchmaking is nuts! Good job on the killer, but it's rare!

  • Honestly I would have preferred something more along the lines of the event where you filled up the vials with juice and gained blood points. The crowns are cute but it's kind of hard to be stealthy when you got a big fat Golden circle flying above your head.

becasue most of the people are playing as swf - which is fine playing with friends is by me only way how enjoy survivor side, its really much better experience and you are having fun, but sadly its OP AS ######### as everyone know but devs have no idea how to balance it sadly.

Next issue is that ranking in this system is utter joke and with swf once again people are ranking like crazy. a lot of rank 1 survivors are actually really potatoes who have no idea where to go, what to do or how to loop - theres a lot of good players as well for sure :), but due to swf and bad rank system tons of people who are really unskilled and bad at game are as rank 1 and thats bad.

Now playing as a killer is a pure frustration - yes if you are going against bad survivors its a joke even with multi billions of second chances or hatch exploits, swf, but if you encounter actually good discord team you are f*, and after that you feel so depressed and frustrated, not becasue of you did you best but only then you can clearly see how this game is heavily survivor sided - yes some maps are killer sided as well.

Of course devs knows about this all, but they can tell its true :D That would be their grave. If something works in someone eyes why change it :)

Only way how to balance this game is seriously buff solo survivor, but theres swf problem again, if you buff solo you buff much more swf and killers will be frustrated even more.

Thats why you see for example a lot of challenges are made not for solo players but for swf, or map is much better playable as a swf . Thats why you see killer perks from last 3 chapters being utter ######### and have billions of penalties to actually work or use. And thats why you see that their focus is on low rank as well, which once again is really bad becasue you CANT hold noobs by a hand, everyone have to learn by himself what they dont understand.

I don't think swf would be much of an issue if you could no longer communicate with your teammates after you died. That is quite possibly one of the biggest advantages about swf; the fact that your dead teammates can look at other people's feeds and communicate back to the player/s still standing about where the Killer is, what the killer is doing, if someone else found the hatch, etc. They really need to disable that feature.

  • Sadly ranks don't mean anything as anyone could take a long break from the game and come back as a rank 20 despite not being that before the break. Personally I don't understand why ranks just don't lock in by fives:15-20, 10-15, 5-10, 5-1. As a rank 12 killer I'm constantly being matched against purple and red rank survivors. It's crazy.

  • Dance with me and Lithe make for a great combo! You get 150% speed boost for 3 seconds and you leave no scratch marks. It's a great way to juke killers!

The other two solo perks I would go with would be Spine Chill and Kindred. Spine chill lets you know when they're getting close even on stealth killers, and kindred is a great informational perk that will let you see the Killer when they hook survivors, and vice-versa for your teammates if you are on the hook.

If you want to be sure that you're always able to heal yourself though, you might want to go with self-care since sometimes it can be hard to find your teammates.

  • Yeah I don't understand that myself. There are A LOT of licensed characters in DBD, and creating a cosmetic that can't be used with just makes no sense. I'd rather have items that can be obtained to increase blood points then a cosmetic I won't be able to use.

  • I wish I could have finished it but I just don't have enough time in a day. For those that paid for the premium tier though, it would be nice if you could get at least all of the cosmetics.

It sucks, I know. Been playing for a month and from the start matches have been unfair. But I have kept going and I can hold my own now. I do lose in 5 mins when I'm against top survivors but other than that, I can manage just fine. I was pissed about matchmaking but now it seems that it actually made me a favor. I have been on steady climb and game has been really enjoyable. Especially when I can get the 4k against reds without a sweat.

Going up against tougher opponents has certainly improved my skills, but I only have a few hours a day to play this game so I'm a casual player at best. And it would be comforting to know that when I do login I'm not being completely wrecked for a majority of that time.

A tough challenge is one thing, but being outmatched is another issue entirely.

  • Yeah the rift challenges can be an absolute pain. I'm doing one right now that is very situational. I have to unhook a survivor that unhooked me - and do it three times! - meaning that the only way that's going to happen is if I'm running around like an absolute fool so that I can be hooked first, and then staying close to the survivor that unhooks me until they get hooked themselves. FUN!!!

  • I've only been playing for a few months myself, and in that time I have had some very unfun matches. The new MMR system was supposed to be implemented this month, but considering that it didn't happen during the rank reset, or the new patch going live, or even with the new event, means most likely it's not happening anytime soon.

I'm a level 13 killer that constanly gets matched against purple and red rank survivors. And since swf teams can communicate with each other about what I'm doing and where I'm at even after dying, is probably one of the strongest abilities that a survivor can have. This is why I'm honestly too scared to play killer which is just f***** up. Survivors should be scared of the killer, not vice versa. But going up against survivors that are clearly more experienced and skilled then I am, makes DBD an absolute chore to play.

when Legion came out you could down survivors with your frenzy hits, survivors cried so hard on the forums they nerfed him so hard, even adding things like the blinding darkness effect when you come out of frenzy as more "punishment"

    Legion is still my favorite

Not being able to down survivors is what I think would make a match against very experienced players a headache. The fatal frenzy sends Legion flying through the map attacking survivors (should they be close) which sounds cool, but unless you abruptly stop your power, the first one or two survivors that you hit now have ample time to get away and heal.

Yeah idk why dbd doesnt do it when other games have double xp weekends all the time. My friend wanted to get into the game and i told him how long ive been playing ans have just almost maxed all the killers. (2 and a half years) and all the good survivors. He wasnt really excited to play.

To be honest I've taken a break from the game because I'm just tired of the screwed up matchmaking. BHVR said the new MMR system would be implemented in June, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. I'm a new player to DBD and on top of that I just play the game casually, and being a level 13 killer going up against purple and red rank survivors does not a fun match make! And when you only have a few hours a day to play this game, looking at everything that you have to unlock just to be able to hold your own is quite daunting.

  • I've been pushing for a blood hunt weekend for what seems like forever. New players hopping into this four-year-old game are faced with a massive amount of grinding, so it would be nice if they had a leg up on unlocking more perks.

  • I can't knock Legion since I haven't tried him, but I was never eager to purchase him because his ability doesn't actually knock down survivors. And deactivating it forces you into a long cool down like Bubba has when he hits an object with his chainsaw. Again I haven't played him but based on the streams that I've watched, he seems like he would be very difficult to play with against much more experienced survivors.

  • @coffeegirl said:

Like a main survivor i prefer derserved my crown... I dont understand why some killer want to help survivors to get it.

Its not the point . Survivors are so lazy πŸ™„

Because after the event is over with you won't get a second chance. And unlike the killer which just needs to complete the trial, survivors have to actually escape with it. So coming across a killer who's not a dick can be a pretty cool thing.

IS THAT REAL???!!! Good god dude, I feel for you!

  • I like to run Freddy and Bubba. For Freddy I typically run M&A, BBQ, Discordance, and PGTW. For Bubba I use BBQ, Nemesis, PWYF, and Discordance.

For survivors I usually run only Feng Min because I have her equipped with the teachable perks that I want: self-care, Lithe, Dance with me, and either Spine Chill or DH.

  • I don't I think you're wrong to play the game this way, but not caring about how about the game plays out is what I think is wrong with the DBD.

The current matchmaking system can easily match very experienced players against novice players since ranks literally mean nothing. A very experienced red ranked player could stop playing for a number of months and be reset all the way back to 20. It's why you'll sometimes see very low-level players have a lot of maxed out teachables from others survivors or killers.

I'm a level 13 killer, but I'm constantly being matched against purple and red rank survivors. I've only been playing this game a few months, and having to play against far more experienced players than myself has made this game really hard for me, so I too have had to adopt a "carefree attitude", although admittedly I really would prefer not to. I want to be able to hold my own, but until the new MMR that looks at skill and not ranks is implemented, I have no other choice but to set my expectations really low when I play DBD.

I'm survivor main and all I get are killer rituals over and over. Is not fair is so uneven. I get like one survivor ritual for every 10 killer ones.

The early seasons were really fun for sure. I think a lot of shows suffer from weaker seasons if the show is dragged out for too long, which happened to SPN a few times lol. But with all that monster hunting, they’d fit right in with DBD. Similar to Ash and Bill πŸ‘

I always thought the seasons of supernatural should only be 13 episodes long. That way the story never meanders and the pacing stays tight. But because they had to fill 22 or 23 episodes, there would be so much filler that would find Sam and Dean having to tackle a random case because they currently lost all leads on the season's big bad. Losing the leads happened so often that it became downright laughable! πŸ˜„

I know who they are. My point is that demons are too powerful to be put in the game without being nerfed too heavily.

That's why I said it wouldn't make sense for them to have Lucifer but I think demons are fair game. Besides it's kind of hard to make a point of demons being too powerful when you have the likes of Freddy Krueger and Pyramid Head in your game.

  • What do you mean? Old yellow eyes is the demon that killed Sam and Dean's mother, and Crowley is the king of hell. They're both demons.

  • @Nurgling7 said:

They said they are not going to do paragraphs anymore, since queue times are extended for the other side. So they would need a killer :(

Well then it couldn't be someone overly powerful like Lucifer. I imagine it would probably either be old yellow eyes, or Crowley.

  • Never really thought about it before but Sam and Dean would make a great addition to the survivor cast! But I don't think there would be a killer. If anything it stands separate from everything else, like Ash from Evil Dead.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

I think it varies on time of day more than anything. For me, Killer matches on PS4 seem to take about 5 mins waiting during the day, but later in the day, they're pretty instant. Survivor remains the same most times with 5-10 mins waiting.

Yeah I'm on PS4 and there are far more people playing in the evenings then there are during the day. The downside though is that you're more likely to be matched against survivors and killers more experienced than you in the evenings. I'm a rank 13 killer and I'm constantly being matched against purple and red survivors. The new MMR that measures skill can't come soon enough!

  • @burntFuse said:

All you have to do is get yourself hooked twice early and then follow your rescuers around in stealth mode until they get hooked. It's a terrible strategy, but not that hard if you commit to it. And if your killer is a camper, you probably won't get past the first step anyways.

I can see if you're doing a swf that completing a lot of these challenges would be a lot easier, but otherwise some of these challenges force you to be a jerk to your teammates because it prevents you from playing the game like you should. I remember I had one challenge where I had to destroy 20 totems, and given that there's only five on a map no doubt many of my teammates wondered why I kept running all over the map instead of working on gens. And for those teammates whose perks require them to break a totem, they were probably incredibly pissed at me!

Challenges should reward you for doing things you should be doing already, and not for doing things that are incredibly situational. There's one challenge that requires Killers to hook four survivors during the end game. That is so rare that the moment I saw that, I immediately chose something else.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1370303#Comment_1370303

I agree there. It kinda sucks that we have to use a perk to try earn more BP in a match, and even then, the perks don't guarantee you'll get the bonus. BBQ needs you to hook each survivor for the full bonus, and survivors must safe unhook for theirs. And sure, we also have the BP offerings, but again, it's not like we have those thrown at us. I really hope they add more ways to earn more BP, beyond the Rift and Daily rituals.

Some of those rift challenges are a joke. I'm on the fourth tier of the newest rift and I'm doing a challenge where I have to safely unhook the survivor that unhooked me. And I have to do that three times! It's quite possibly the most situational task I've seen yet.

  • @johnmwarner said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1370282#Comment_1370282

Its really weird, bloodpoints almost don’t matter for me anymore except right at new release. For example I once played a game as Iri hatchet Huntress with a mori and the survivors mocked me endgame because β€œyou didn’t even earn back the BP you spent.” That could matter I guess if I was planning on doing that build frequently but even playing BBQ and a BP offering I can earn more than enough back in one game to get a full web down which will almost always give me another Iri and/or Ward...

I feel that players should play the game the way they want to play it. But so long as perks like insidious exist, then face camping is sadly always going to be a thing.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1370181#Comment_1370181

I like the idea that they just hold a DBP event each weekend. You'd see far more players playing at that time because a lot more people come to the game to earn BP. Or they could even just add a system that each day spotlights a single survivor and killer that would earn more BP. It would maybe incentivise players to start using other killers/survivors and changing up how they play, rather than the usual stick to 1 single killer/build.

That's literally what the mobile game does every weekend. Sad that the main game can't do the same. Personally I would like to not run BBQ every single match but since I'm a newer player, it's the only thing I have in the way of being able to accrue more bloodpoints so that I can get the perks that I want.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Btw mobile does a cool thing where every weekend they pick two killers and two survivors and they get double XP. We don't need double XP so much because our progression system is different but they could make it double BP

The blood hunt events and double XP events are probably the best thing about the mobile version. I don't like to play the mobile version, but I can't argue that the devs don't throw enticing offers your way!

  • @Desh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1370187#Comment_1370187

    You're nearly correct yes, but:

    1. If a Killer somehow gets a 4k with Facecamping, which as been done, then it's a win. You either get a team of highly skilled Survivors, or you get a team of potatoes. There's no in-between when it comes to this matchmaking system.
    2. If the Killer already has everything he needs in terms of items and perks, what's the purpose of BP? Not everyone is striving for P3 50 Max perks on every single character.

I certainly can't argue with you there. I agree that if at least one person didn't escape then most likely you had a team of potatoes. And if a player has played enough to acquire all the perks that they want, then there's little reason for them not to play scummy if they so choose. But like I said I can't think of what else can be done to dissuade facecamping. Thankfully matches aren't that long and you can be in a new one within roughly 10 minutes.

  • @Desh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1370171#Comment_1370171

A viable strategy doesn't correlate with the amount of BP gained. If somehow face camping got you a 4k, then you've technically won even if your BP gain was low. No different than Merciless Killer correlating with how much BP gained.

If you encounter a face camping killer, then there's no reason for at least one survivor escaping as everyone should be focused on rushing gens. But if a killer is legitimately happy with acquiring so little bloodpoints - the very currency this game lives and dies on - then there's little that can be done I'm afraid.

  • I would be perfectly happy if bhvr would incorporate blood hunt events every weekend, or at the very least every month. Hopping into this four year old game can be quite daunting for newer players considering the massive grind that lays before them.

  • Proximity camping is a viable strategy, but face camping is not, and you can see that in the amount of bloodpoints gained in a match. The less a killer does, the fewer bloodpoints they get as they will most likely get bronze emblems for staying so close to the hook.

  • He can be good if played correctly, meaning you have to be willing to play the long game and stalk from a distance. Because if you don't his power can be shut down simply from the survivors looking at him. And it doesn't matter if they're hooked or laying on the ground, if they can see you, then your power is rendered useless.

  • The nice thing about the mobile version is that there are constant ongoing blood hunt events. The downside however is that you don't use blood points to level up your characters. You instead use it to purchase add-ons which imo makes it all kind of worthless. Not to mention trying to control the Killer is beyond frustrating. Swiping to turn while also tapping the screen to attack is hair-pullingly maddening.

  • You're not alone. I'm a casual player and in-between work and parenting I only have a few hours a day to play this game, but I still try to do a fair juggling act with killer and survivor. While the grind for perks is atrocious, I still have a lot of fun with this game. I've played long enough to actually get somewhat decent at the game. But all of that progress is rendered useless since the current matchmaking system can match very experienced players against novice players. Because of this I get really apprehensive about playing killer matches. So I think I too will take a break until the new matchmaking system is implemented.

Why bhvr never incorporated a matchmaking system years ago that measured skill and not numbers I'll never understand.

  • @JustCats said:

The fact that "tunneling" and "proxy camping" are even things just bewilders me. The whole reason you make so much noise is so you're easier to find. You're supposed to be vulnerable in that state, it's the whole point. Obviously if I'm not otherwise occupied I'm coming back to the hook after a rescue, obviously I'm going to try to find the injured one if I can, obviously I'm going to target people who've already had hooks if I have the choice. The fact that so many survivors unhook the moment I turn a corner when I'm not engaged with anything/anyone else isn't my fault. Anything less is straight up killer malpractice. This idea that a I need to completely abandon a hook like it never happened or somehow doesn't actually contain the most vulnerable prey and I should be trying to run as far away from it as possible or that I should prioritize healthy never been hooked survivors in chases or that I need to go for the obvious bait chase and get pulled off the one who has largely exhausted their options or else I'm a scummy player is ridiculous.

Like, why isn't it a thing where I can complain that I kicked a generator and the survivors didn't let it regress back down to zero? How come survivors aren't expected to stop doing gens while I'm in a chase because I'm currently busy and unable to come stop them?

Is it because it would be a ludicrous thing to suggest that a "fair" player gets there by intentionally throwing the game, and if they don't they're being unsportsmanlike and scummy?

I like your analogy about comparing generators to healthy survivors. πŸ˜„

  • @Mortilla said:

My interpretation is that people have a hard time in this game because of its competitive nature; they forget about having fun and instead focuses on God knows what.

To be fair BBQ has so many counters now that hide your aura its never guaranteed they are close.

What those who complained about the perk failed to realise was BBQ was designed to help with camping and without seeing aura's a lot of killers will do just what you do.

True they could be in a locker, but if no one shows up as being highlighted, then it's highly doubtful that everyone is hiding. Most likely they were working together, so I'll go and search within the vicinity.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Well, they all suck to have happen to them. Seriously, play nothing but survivor for two months straight, and you'll see everything they all complain about.

There really aren't that many SWF groups, and not all of them use comms. Respectfulnancymain and I occasionally play together and we don't use Xbox Party Chat at all. The whole SWF thing just sounds like an excuse at this point.

As for your last little sentence, the titles of the roles are misleading. Killer is a much snappier and more catching title than Torturer, Tormentor, Hunter or any other similar thing. Same goes for Survivor, since it could be changed to Victim and it'd have a similar description to the actual gameplay. I know that heaps of people don't care about it, but look at what the Pip system asks of you: HURT Survivors, Hook them, keep them off generators. Kill them when the time is right. I can guarantee you that it is entirely possible to rank up to Rank 1 (theoretically so don't go biting my head off!) without actually killing anyone as far as I know. I made it to red while dying in heaps of my games because I play to my objectives. There is more than one way to play killer, and more people should branch out from the typical skulls-on-the-end-screen mentality.

Actually I play both survivor and killer equally, and so long as the killer doesn't just straight up face camp me on the hook, then I find everything else to be fair game. If a teammate unhooks me while the killer is close by and they don't have borrowed time, than I can't blame the Killer choosing to go for the person that's injured and not the healthy person.

  • @NovaliumTS said:

Its kinda funny i see lots of posts saying "killers kill, survivors survive" yet always get entitled when survivors want to actually survive.

Yeah this is your game just as much as it is theirs, so play the game the way you want to play it, and pay no mind to those that bellow that you didn't do things the "right way".

  • @bingbongboi90 said:

Yeah the only behaviour i dont approve is face camping. All the other things survivor complains are strategys it doesn't matter what they think.

Sometimes it is way smarter to Stay at the hook if you know that all the other survivors are near.

But i never cared about the endgame chat because a lot of players are delusional when they lose.

I usually run BBQ for the bloodpoints but if I hook someone and notice that no one is highlighted, that usually means they're close by, so yeah absolutely I'll stay within the vicinity!

  • @OldHunterLight said:

No one is disagreeing with you, I would love some damn double bp right now so I can get all my perks again, I would love double bp at least a week out of 3 months, that way people can actually farm for the next killer/survivor and farm for their current killer/survivor without issues.
