I play on PS4, Rank 1 both Killer and Survivor, and I see people disconnect for the DUMBEST things. Got downed by the Wraith in the first minute of the match? Disconnect. Michael decided to chase you and not the other person you were with? Disconnect. I play a variety of Killers and I just have to hold out hope that the first person I pick up doesn't disconnect ruining the match for everyone else. As the Pig, I usually put the first trap on right away to punish the first gen pop and I've had to stop doing that as people tended to DC as soon as the trap goes on.
As Survivor, I never DC, even in matches where a hatchet smacks me in the face as soon as my feet touch the ground getting off the hook. If you die, you'll de-pip once at best, if you DC it's 2 isn't it? I'd rather just try my best, die and move on rather than DC and ruin things for the team more than they already were for me.
I think some people need to start remembering that there are other people on the other sides of the characters in the game. You disconnecting or hook camping or tunneling or sandbagging is not only affecting you, and a lot of things are out of your control too. If someone disconnects they get reported and I move on, but with the wait times for Survivor and the Add-ons being used for Killer, it sucks.
-
I dunno, the Terror Radius to the Obsession one seems like it could make for some fun. All those jokes about Survivors thinking other Survivors are the Killer would actually have some ground now. Though it feels like it would be more fun on the Survivor's side but we'll see.
-
My playstyle right now would probably put Pig and Leatherface (he is the only one with a decent BBQ right now) at the top, the rest is a mishmash as I rotate if able, but Huntress, Spirit and Nurse are at the bottom due to being a PS4 player who needs more practice with them.

Def put Spirit's Perks as
Spirit Fury: Best. Allows for many Killers to end chases far faster, esp good on Killers that are slower/get looped more. I esp love it on Legion and Pig
Hex: Haunted Ground: Really good. Underrated by most now, it is FANTASTIC on Spirit, Hag, Nurse and some others. Even more so if you run a Hex Roulette Build. I've gotten plenty of snowball situations of it. Esp if I run Devour Hope and/or Ruin. Which often makes people take the risk of either cleansing a bad Totem or risk keeping up a Totem that's far worse. It makes it a nice deterent for cleanse happy Survivors and if cleansed, can and has allowed me to get multiple instant downs. Which if HGs gets cleansed, can get people to hid and not do gens or go for a save.
Rancor: Alright. I haven't gotten too much out of it as there are other tracking/notification Perks that I prefer far more. BBQ & Chili, Nurse's Calling, Discordance, Stridor and such that I feel (personally) are better. The free Mori on the Obsession is sweet, but I feel it doesn't factor in that much and having a Survivor see you allows them to evade you, even worse on a SWF coms situation. Which is why I don't value the Perk higher than the other two as it's impact on a game isn't as profound.
Rancor works wonders on two specific Killers; Myers (if running Scratched Mirror on either Game or Lery's) and Freddy. Myers is invisible to it and Freddy is invisible if the Obsession is awake. They could very well go the entire match without knowing you have it. Of course, there are better detection perks.

Here's an idea: Why not run just Enduring and trick people into thinking you're also running Spirit Fury? Sure, Enduring doesn't come up when people drop pallets early as a result, but you could argue that that's still preferable to getting hit with the pallets to begin with.
I find I rarely get hit with Pallets unless I am going for a trade, I always make them drop them early anyway. Though I guess I've recently been playing Killers that aren't as afraid of Pallets; Doctor, Hillbilly, Leather and Clown, due to my others being just freshly prestiged, but I found when I had it I WANTED to force them to drop it on me because in that instance a trade is worth the risk.
I understand why it's valued, as I have been hit with it more recently than ever playing Survivor, but it puts me in a risky mindset I'd rather not be in playing Killer myself. I like information perks personally. People tend to not expect a Leatherface to be running Nurse's Calling for example, can catch them off guard and tends to be useful throughout the entire trial, even if they figure you have it.
-
@Trashman said:
Also spirit fury is hands down Spirits best teachable, any m1 killer should be using it with enduring from billy.
Every time I tried to use that combo, the Survivors would hit me once with a Pallet, see I have Enduring and drop them early for the rest of the match. I've had that happen way more than the combo actually working sadly. If they do that, there goes two perk slots, so while it's a good combo it's easily countered if the Survivors are observant.
-
I'll give you a reason but I don't think it's a good one; the Obsession gone removes the one downside of the perk. The Obsession can't see your Aura when they're dead, can they?

From my experience, Ive got to rank 1 while on rotation with all killers no perks or add ons. I didnt have much difficulties with top tiers like Billy or Nurse. How ever almost every other killer I struggled with.
-Trapper imo needs Trapper Sack to be built in
-Wraith makes a huge difference with add ons. Windstorm can give him map pressure
-Billy is fine
-Nurse if fine
-Micheal is fine is you can get an early feed off a survivor
-Hag does surprisingly, as she's everywhere but no where
-Doctor... poor man.. His shock isnt large enough, and he's just your average M1 killer
-Huntress you shouldn't have a problem with if you have good aim
-Leatherface is well, Leatherface
-Freddy. Do I really need to explain?
-Pig's power isnt really that good in the first place, her add ons don't really make a difference. Video Tape, Combat Straps and Amanda's Letter are the only decent ones for her
-Clown does just about the same, how ever because he lacks map pressure you can't do much unless you end chases.. FAST
-Spirit does just fine.
-Legion's frenzy doesn't last long enough. They aren't very scary without add ons, how ever they become VERY scary with Frank's Mixtape.Yea, Pig's power is probably one of the least useful in the game, it CAN be useful but once the traps are gone she's just an M1 Killer. Freddy is one of the only ones I am mixed on. I feel like Freddy needs to be played with no Add-Ons to help you learn how you should play him. Other than that, I feel all Killers should be playable without, Add-Ons should just make you better, not playable.
-
I am another of the ones that seem to be fine with Freddy how he is. I mean I haven't gotten back to Rank 1 since the reset, sitting at 6, but I've been playing him without Add-Ons since the reset and it's actually made me appreciate what his power does. If you can keep everyone asleep you can make it so no progress gets done. I also wish I played all the games against Freddy people always seem to play where the Skill Checks to wake up are plentiful and Freddy never sees a single kill. In all the matches I play against him we either barely escape or no one does. He's different and does need some tweaking, but I don't think he's a bad Killer.
-
Until something is changed, isn't this just more reason to use Discordance? It's useful in a normal match but in a Prove Thyself match wouldn't it help to get rid of the problem? It could help this until things are changed.

Hag's default radius is 40m which is pretty huge, you don't need addons for great games with her. Remember than before her buff we had to play her with a Dead Fly Mud in order to get this radius, and that Dragonfly Wings and Dried Cicada weren't available at this time because they were making her trapping speed miserable. You also have now her machine gun build by default, which is insane. Her buff removes her need for any addon ^.^Add her to the ones I'll try whenever I get her to "playable" status, which she isn't right now as he's P1 Level 5. Man, The Grind always sucks.

This got me trying to find which Killers I can play indefinitely using no Add-Ons as long as I have Perks I am happy with. After messing around with some, and watching the ongoing challenge Tru3 was doing, it got me wondering which Killers everyone thinks is playable without any Add-Ons. This is using Perks, however, don't find myself good enough to not use them and it wouldn't help with The Grind so I use BBQ on every Killer. To start off, I think it might be obvious to say that both Billy and Nurse are playable without any Add-Ons, even on PS4 where I play, but I've been finding that I am doing totally fine with Amanda using only the Combat Straps (Seeing as her crouch is being buffed next patch making it like I am playing Add-Onless right now) and I am doing way better than I even should be using Add-Onless Freddy. I am currently in the middle of leveling Myers, but I feel he'll be able to make it work without them also. Any Killers you guys can play Add-Onless with results?
The Wraith
I feel like his good Add-Ons are really good for him and would struggle without the proper "generic" perk build, which I probably won't use for him in the end. I still intend to try, sadly my Bing Bong is sitting at P2 Level 5 so he isn't being played yet lol
I found Thanat, Nurse’s, Devour, and Haunted work wonders
Edit: I love my P3 50 Wraith
I never got to use Nurse's on him, I got to 50 before I ever got it lol Always wanted to! My Bing Bong is decked out in the Wax Warlock outfit because I always wanted to be a Dark Souls enemy.

Huntress, Pig, Nurse, Wraith, Hag, Clown, Spirit
might be wrong though.Freddy is actually in a weird place I find when Killers are all taken with no Add-Ons as his power slows down the game on it's own. If you just target the first person you put to sleep, yea, you'll have a bad game, but if you spread the Dream around you'll actually find yourself in a place of power, especially if you can keep people asleep. Discordance is an excellent perk on Freddy to help you maintain that place of Power. Billy's power is more for traveling than actually downing, though it's definitely useful for that when in a pinch, so no Add-Ons are totally fine, I play with none or brown for him and do well enough.
Huntress, Nurse, Spirit and Clown are all playable (if you are good enough with them as they are tougher to use on console), but I don't know about Wraith. I suppose he wouldn't be much worse without them. Pig on the other hand needs her Straps until the buff comes. With that buff out she'll be perfectly playable without Add-Ons, you'll need to play extremely aggressively (more than usual), however, to secure those downs and slow the game down. You only have 4 traps and there is nothing altering how they play.
Clown sucks without addons. Trust me you need the duration ones to play properly.
Also Spirit is as good as Leatherface without addons.
Yea, I noticed the duration ones really hurt when missing, but I'm sure he's still more playable than someone like Doctor or Trapper without Add-Ons lol
And as someone who is TRASH with the Spirit, is she not as playable because of her Haunting's low duration?
It's mainly the cooldown honestly, if you mess up, you get severely punished. And the duration yes.
Duration seems to be the downfall to a lot of Killer powers lol They just don't feel like they last long enough. For Legion to be designed to bounce between Survivors his power doesn't last long enough to do so without Add-Ons.

Nurse, Billy, Hag, Huntress, Myers and Wraith are reliable without addons. Huntress, Myers and Wraith are mid tier killers but definittely good without addons.Myers is kind of like Freddy and you see his strengths when you play Add-Onless or Perkless. His small Terror Radius can be quite effective at throwing people off guard. Not to mention he has an instadown.

@Blueberry said:
People have already mentioned a few but I think this is another good example to point out how overly addon dependent too many killers are. The majority of the killers are too dependent on them and need to have some of their strengths pushed into their base kits or alternatively have an easier time getting addons relative to how easy it is for survivors currently.I agree, Survivor can be played No Perks, No Items well enough, why do Killers have to be expensive to play reliably? I am thankfully on PS4 so my matches against a Beast-Mode Team are actually not AS common as they could be so maybe I could get away using some Killers without them. If I wasn't locked in The Grind it wouldn't be as bad but I am still grinding Killers to 50 and prestiging them.

As for Myers, I feel no Add-Ons would train you to save Tier III more often. Every Myers I seem to go against relies on Tier III to the point off annoyance lol Otherwise he seems like he'd still be just as strong without them.

Hiding around in the trial, or working on a Gen and hearing "STAAAAAAAAAAARS!" being screamed (probably because they'd use the Umbrella Chronicles Nemesis) would be something else. I already love the way you can hear things going on in the distance, like the screams from Doc or the Nurse's wails, Nemesis running around and smashing through things would be incredible.

The very first killer i was drawn too was the nurse, oh boy. I got over that really quickly. Rip.Also I played Amanda, The Pig, twice using a splinter and learned that she is sooooo hard to play as. Which sucks, cuz I love the idea of her.
I never used a Splinter before, since I bought all the DLC at once when I got back into the game. Do you get any Perks or Add-Ons when you use them? Because without Perks, or even with her own unique Perks as they are kinda terrible, Amanda is not too easy to play and without the Combat Straps, at least at the moment, her crouch is almost worthless after the match starts, so the Splinters never struck me as a very good demo of the Killer, especially poor old Freddy.
-
I agree that people need to let up on attacking each other, even though most people seem to agree on the game being unbalanced. I play a somewhat even split between Killer and Survivor, been more on the Survivor side the last few weeks though just due to shorter matches, so I see problems from both sides.
As for my favourites, on the Killer side I am quite fond of Freddy (yea I know) and Amanda. For some reason I feel like I play more aggressively with those two and it's quite fun. Although, I intend to play them all eventually once The Grind is over, whenever that will be.
On the Survivor side I mostly play Feng due to her being the first Survivor I got to P3 Level 50, but I intend to play them all, much like I do with Killer.

I don't need addons when I play Nurse
Add-Ons I feel are very optional on Nurse, it's true. Thankfully, I play on console so a good Nurse is rare, meaning I don't know true terror. Sadly, that also means that it's a trial in frustration to play as her unless you are already good, but her being good with no Add-Ons means it is less expensive to practice.

TRapper whether you use addons or not it's always good to place traps in the most out of the way they'll think he'd be stupid to place one here. Those are the ones where you tend to trap people especially if you place some in obvious places. What makes it work even better is place some in obvious places but not too well hidden like you were sloppy with your placement. The survivors will see the very obvious trap placement and will go to disarm it and if you've placed one in the not so obvious place you'll catch them.
Trapper is definitely a Thinking Man's Killer and he can be extremely satisfying for that. Just gotta know where Survivors will run but not look at their feet.

When I was maining him I could play Clown with no add-ons and my build was always for points so I used, Thrill of The Hunt, BBQ & Chili, Distressing, and usually Sloppy Butcher because it's fun to make them bleed everywhere/slows healing as well. Also, I feel Trapper doesn't ''need'' add-ons, of course, it helps to have more traps but you don't necessarily need them.
Trapper is one of two Killers I feel NEEDS Ruin for prep work (the other being Hag for the same reason), so without Add-Ons and if Ruin gets found early, you are in for a brutal match if you don't have any Add-Ons to carry more than one trap. Can definitely be done but it will be trickier.
Yeah, preparation time is Trapper's biggest problem so having something to distract Survivors until he's ready makes sense. Ruin and Huntress Lullaby together would be sufficient but then you need two other perks because those could eventually get taken down. Spirit Fury and Enduring for pallets could be all he really needs.
I find Spirit Fury and Enduring can be sort of damning to you, at least in my experience so far. Just started using it as I never had both before and once Survivors knew I had Enduring, they dropped pallets early, assuming I had Spirit Fury alongside it leaving me down a Perk. Great combo if you are never found out though!

Wraith- anti-heal
Trapper- gen strat stall
Clown- oppressive presence
Doc- tough & tiny checks
Myers- various tier loadouts
Freddy- fast slap & sneaky
Legion- slow heal blood trackerPlaying a good team with Trapper without Add-Ons can be stressful, playing him against Rank 1 Survivors tends to be stressful in general unless you are really good at placing traps in unexpected places. Good on ya for taking what is more of a challenge than it should be. Add-ons should make a Killer better, not playable.

It seems being blinded when picking someone up is slightly bugged in general, at least on PS4. I've been blinded I don't know how many times by a well timed flashlight save only to not drop the Survivor I am carrying. I just wait for the blind to be over and carry on my way. It's bizarre but got me a few hooks I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Bet the Survivors hated it though.

And if the game came to Switch (which would probably cause Switches to explode as it nearly does to my PS4 Pro since it's fairly unoptimized, but this is a what-if), they could get someone from Fatal Frame.
And yea, someone from Until Dawn would work too, maybe Sam, they are much more used to this kind of situation but Ellie is much better at sneaking (in Last of Us Part 2, she's less stealthy than Pizza Dwight in the first game).

Amanda and Trapper's (and maybe Billy's) are good to use if you are pressed on time too, if you take a Mori to use it how I do (either when on third hook or if I am in trouble) their short animations can cost you less time than pretty near everyone else's.

I dunno if it's because I am used to playing as Fredbear or not, but I never had a problem with the Dreamworld in it's current state. Unless we are playing in the cornfields. Freddy hates the farm, at least he does when I'm in control. I do think he should have better vision in the Dreamworld than the Survivors do, but I am at least able to tell what map I am on now. Before the engine update I could go all match without actually knowing what map I was on.
-
I like a few of them, I like Legion's just for looking the slickest, but for some reason I really like Amanda's short but sweet one (when it's not bugged out). Other than that, Leather's is probably one of the more brutal ones. That first smack to the head...

so I'm a little newer to the game, but Ive never understood how anyone can endlessly loop the killer; killer is always faster AND gets the... whats it called, blood something, where you start going faster after awhile during a chase? Anyway, seems like unless you break line of sight its a losing proposition.I've played a bit when it first came out on PS4 but got REALLY hard into it when it was free on PlayStation Plus and, even though I reached Rank 1 on both sides, I still have this problem. I can't loop to save my life, literally. Makes me double frustrated when I go against a Survivor who can do it for days. I've managed to run a Killer around the entire map but they still always get me in the end.
-
I personally like playing them a lot and have had some success so far. I feel they're better than people give them credit, but they do need a buff. I honestly think 115% movement speed should help dramatically. On the topic of their Add-ons, I've actually been having more success with yellow and brown add-ons than purple. Movement speed and duration of Frenzy are what I've been focusing on as I have only downed using the power to hit a Survivor a total of once, feel it takes a lot longer than attacking once, keeping close and ending the power to continue chase that way. So I feel they are better than people think, but still weaker than they could be.
-
I find matches against Legion to be good fun if the Legion is playing how they should. If they are bouncing from Survivor to Survivor inflicting them with Deep Wound and keeping the chase going on the last one, it can be a tense match as I always fear I'll be the next target when I see that Deep Wound meter appear under someone's name. When the Legion just tunnels one person when the others are around, then things aren't fun. But the same can be said for any Killer so that's not really special to Legion, s/he can just do it really well.

I'm playing on PS4 and people tried to run circles around me while I was stunned, probably didn't think I knew what I was doing as I manually ended my Frenzy. Downed them immediately. Haven't had anyone heal in front of me yet, but Survivors on console are either perfect or terrible so I was probably lucky is all.
-
Happened to me just this last session when I was playing Killer, 2 Survivors used a BPS and I used a Pudding and when the game finally loaded, there was only 1 Survivor in the game. It's insanely annoying when an offering like that goes to waste in this grindy game.
-
Me and my friends have trouble finding Killers too. You think people would be lining up to Kill us, we suck at this game. It's free kills, money in the bank.
-
When I play Killer and hook someone, I get my ass outta there. If I am nearby and someone saves the Victim, I'll return and hope I find the savior instead of the victim. IF I just find the victim, I'll slug them and leave them. Not only does it give them SORT of a break for their friend not sticking with them to heal them, it also wastes the time of whoever is going to save them. I know it's common, but BBQ & Chili fits how I want to play perfectly as it tends to give me a reason to leave the hook rather than "I don't want to be a jerk".
Other than that, if someone disconnects before the match starts, sometimes Survivors disconnect in the loading screen (on PS4 anyway.) or disconnects early, I'll play my best and if they are all twice hooked before they get 3 Gens done, I'll hunt one down, down them, pick them up and lead them to a gen swiping at it to show them they can go. They clearly weren't going to win that one.

Best part of playing on PS4! People have to go out of their way to send toxic messages so it rarely happens (although I did get a few), and I believe you can set messages to private there as well.

Tapp is such a handy guy to have around, didn't notice how great his Stake Out Perk was until I started using it myself. Not to mention, that alternate outfit of his is perfect attire to wear to the Entity's Trials. I'd pick Laurie but I am too crap at actually playing Survivor to be able to deal with her Unique Perks!

It was a tough choice between Claudette and Dwight for me but Dwight won out. I like being the Support, if I play an MMO I like to be the Healer, but since I am not the best at getting away from a Killer when I am out to save people as Claudette, I'll accept my role of being around to make everyone else better than me. Also Bond is a great Perk. If we are going by just design wise or all that then Feng was the first Survivor I started playing as.

I actually like all the licensed Killers, I enjoy playing them all, but Michael is clearly the best. His abilities are perfectly brought over to the game from his movie and the limited animation just makes a spooky Killer (that Evil Within I) even more off-putting. The Pig is a close second, playing against her can make for some tense matches.

The Huntress.
Not too great playing as her, but I really like her humming and going up against her always has me, and anyone I play with when I do, on edge. Her frame when running is a fearful sight to behold.
