This match here, is like the many I can do as a killer. SLUG EVERYONE. Would the developers be so kind as to add something to the game so this cannot be done anymore. I mean I see you are going to be handing out DC penalties. and there are NO rules against this behavior of slugging, stated on the official rules book.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/831/KRE8DZLADPG4.jpg

This total thing went on for nearly 4 minutes. I think survivors really would appreciate this to be addressed. Since they will face account penalties for leaving. 😈

    - Btw the new map looks amazing that was launched today. 😃

Been vouching for a forfeit button that automatically allows the entity to take the survivor, but is only available for use when certain conditions are met. Slugged with only one survivor left up seems a fair point, as well as all 4 slugged. But it would require a bunch of different circumstances to be set up/coded to be recognised for it.

(kind of like how a survivor can kill themself on the hook)

  • No, expecting them not to change Deep Wounds so it doesn't mean free downs with zero work is entitlement; expecting a killer to be viable is within our rights as consumers that paid for them.

Same. I was doing just fine before they gave Freddy undetectable, I dont need cheap downs to do well with him.

    Exactly.

I read the patch notes and, if I understood correctly, stealth killers can still counter BT to some extent. They can't cheese the down by hiding their terror radius and forcing the mend timer to go down, but they can still stealth camp and deny the endurance status to proc.

I was referring to the post-endurance hit; I have no qualm with the stealth to avoid it's proc as TR can be baited/there is outplay potential when it comes to that.

oh man I'm going to have to test the styptic in this update! and no we're on the same page, I like the change for how it interacts with freddy's world, getting it to proc with him near by is kinda hard especially if he's camping, plus it's consistent across the board.

Exactly; nothing has been more disheartening than me playing it smart to get from the alarm clock to the save into a tight unhook on the game with the freddy camping, for him to get them down again in two seconds anyway. As a Freddy main, I'm glad it's changed

  • Nah, other people on steam have 1.7 too. weird stuff!

  • Lmao now you say it, this did happen with ghostface didnt it? Some people accidentally got a dev build with some of his assets in lol

  • Hmm people are getting a 1.7 gb update, but for me it's 2.1 gb????

if the unhooker is awake and makes the save yes that will be how it works... but if the unhooker is asleep BT wont trigger at all, which imo is how it should be.... it actually gives incentive to wake up.

Exactly. I'm not arguing against the sleeping affecting BT saves; just that up until the new patch, because of lazy balancing surrounding DW, if someone had BT on them, they went down anyway, as on getting hit, they went to sleep. It removed the whole point of an anti-tunneling perk. (I also found it funny that this happened with styptics too, not bothered about that one though lmao)

Idk if I was unclear before, sorry if I was. I was always referring to the DW side of things, seeing as nothing else got changed with regard to BT.

Well that one actually has reasoning, it's for the sake of consistency when it comes to what is and isn't considered a 'basic attack'.

The reduction on mend time I haven't seen a good reason for.

Which doesn't make sense when you consider other things that are counted as a basic attack, such as Nurse blink attacks.

Removing a killer's ability to use perks efficiently when they're already struggling for 'muh consistency' is just lazy balancing, as DW previously being affected by TR was.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

Them reducing Mend time still makes no sense, as well as nerfing Legion's Blade more.

But whatever, the rest seems good.

Idk, removing basic attack effects from FF seems like a hard nerf for no reason.

what are you even talking about? as long as the unhooker is asleep BT don't work in Freddy's world because Freddy doesn't have TR, he has a lullaby.

If the unhooker gives them BT, they still go down if the freddy decides to continue chasing them...well, no longer. I wasn't talking about not being able to use it, but abusing the DW status for a free down.

  • Lol anyone who complains about them finally changing deep wounds so BT isn't countered by freddy and stealth killers for existing just wants to get downs for zero effort.

  • @Peanits said:

Deep Wounds now pause while sprinting or mending rather than while you're in the terror radius. That way we can keep the perks the same while also dealing with the Oblivious/Undetectable issues with other killers (i.e. Freddy, Pig, Wraith, etc.)

Short version is, the vast majority of the time, nothing changes. They still can't sit on a generator instead of mending. But you won't be able to hide your terror radius to get a free down with no counterplay.

Sadly the other changes to legion still gut them, and all feedback was that this was the case. :/

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

Nemesis and BoP nerf incoming hype! /s

    Or a Legion nerf lol

Band-aid fix, but this one works, finally. Fixes interactions with even Freddy!

Deep Wound: Deep Wound timer will no longer go down when Sprinting or Mending. Deep Wound is no longer connected with the Killers terror radius.

interestingly looks like none of the legion changes went through...which im 50/50 on because legion needed the buff side of the changes, and would have been fine without the compensation nerfs if speed was buffed. Unless I'm missing this section on the patch notes.

Edit: nevermind, it's still there. legion will be even worse.

  • Iri emblems is definitely easier with killer; I agree with above in that legion is great for this as deviousness is easy to get and has game slow down potential for gatekeeper too.

If you're any good at killer, I also suggest freddy since he's just an outiright really strong killer that isn't an instadown killer (trapper, billy, bubba suffer when it comes to the chaser emblem as chases are shorter/only one hit is necessary quite a lot)

  • It's down to dedicated servers which makes all killers as well as survivor feel utter trash to play 90% of the time.

Overall she's proven to be strong, like before, but not quite so abusable. All the devs need to address is the servers.

  • Only one I can't agree with is the Cruel Limits being global. Makes it possible to punish survivors for running a killer around while other people do gens. Not good design imo. I do agree re: the name change.

  • Yeah it's 100% in the map, in a corner. Very common hook spawn point.

People exaggerate Legion, Nurse, and Spirit changes, then assume BHVR is going to gut any killer they say are going to rework or is over performing.

In reality, BHVR doesn't always gut killers, and when they do, gutting is exaggerating what exactly they did to that killer. Most changes BHVR made towards killers is for making things balanced and fun for everyone. They just buffed Legion and made Freddy a beast a while ago — Ghostface got a significant buff too. The community, not everyone, tends to only see the bad of BHVR more than the good because it's easier to look at someone's mistakes than look at their success.

I said too much, bracing for impact! 😕

Tbf, they mostly gutted legion, and now, are gutting him even harder as a trade-off for finally having some speed.

But the other two: Nurse is still incredibly strong, (only issue with her, in fact, is dedicated servers seem to cuck her a ton) and spirit feels no different.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

Why do people think Doctor's getting nerfed.

Because people knee jerk whenever a mention of buffing a killer comes out by the devs; we were told before the freddy rework he needed some love and would be next in line after the nurse for such a touch up. That is, they explicitly plan to buff him. And I see no way of them making him super clunky in the same way as they did for Legion, tbh.

  • No official date has been given as far as I'm aware, but people are thinking Dec 3rd. We'll see. :)

  • It isn't bannable, but what happened at the end really f***ing should be. Devs would never do anything about it, though.

  • He has all of 2 add-ons that are both broken and barely used anyway for some odd reason, so meh.

    Definitely not OP.

  • Bugs, dedicated servers, the community, the band-aid fixes for 'muh consistency'

The fact that it feels like the devs don't listen until they realise that less people are playing the game for something they put into the game that makes it less fun (such as, say, tome level 3 as a prime example - it being changed because so many got frustrated, yet it's not much different from tome level 4 which they told us isn't what we'd get which has me worried)

Sorry, can't pick only one lmao

    ….

The thing is its still true thou, there are multiple videos showing toxic and salty survivors compared to killers. I see this ingame, but apparently saying something true is now very bad according to you.

Also would you like to explain to me why do survivors DC a lot compared to killer, because if DCing isn't toxic then idk what is?

The thing is, it's not true though. There are plenty of videos showing players on both sides being toxic. Just because you saw a tru3 video where a claudette teabagged him to get his attention, it doesn't mean most are like that.

Idk, I get a lot of killer DC's, usually after they failed right after trying to do something scummy.

And when I see survivors DC, yes, sometimes it's not for good reason, but a lot of the time, they just want out of the game, which is their right. I don't expect them to punish someone who wants to leave the game when they've been slugged for the 4k when the killer knows the location of the last person and the hatch hasn't even spawned yet, just as I wouldn't expect a killer to realistically put up with the bullshit of a sabo squad teabagging them around every corner and taunting them if they don't want to.

Welp, how about this? It's much much easier to fix a broken perk than rework every map around it being broken. In my mind, this needed to happen, and I don't think you will change my mind on that one.

As far as Legion goes, we just need a rework. I'm not putting the link to my thread about that here, but Deep Wounds is the thing that makes Legion so hard to balance.

Balanced Landing gave you too much for what it was, and that's why it's being reworked. Sorry if you relied on that perk so much, but i'm sure you will do just fine without it. Anything that makes and Infinite needs to be fixed, and I hope they start looking at the maps like Cowshed next with that one window.

ffs, did you even bother to read what I said? The only reason for its use is the passive - the speed boost is inconsequential. The issue isn't the perk, it's the broken maps and the fact that survivors can still abuse them just fine WITHOUT the perk, because the maps are what is broken and the entirety of the community has been saying this for a very long time.

No, deep wounds only exists because of legion. It's the fact that the devs went for the consistency side of things that it became tied with BT, which it didn't need to be, and is a reason why horrid interactions like freddy/BT exist. Legion can be balanced and strong with DW being a part of their kit, so long as we dump the idea of consistency = balance.

I don't actually use it when I play survivor all that much; if I run exhaustion it's always DH. Nice try, though. :)

Yes the infinite window on the abbatoir definitely needs looking at, along with a few other maps. That doesn't excuse nerfing a perk into obscurity to try and hide away bad map design (which won't work because it's still there in the maps this change will have any effect on)

  • @DaGreenBolt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/852407#Comment_852407

Both sides are toxic, except the survivor side are usually the most toxic, and the ones that DC on anything they don't like the majority of the time. I rarely encounter the killer doing the same when playing survivor.

There it is. You've proven that no matter how much evidence there is, the other side is 'more' to blame for you. Which is a pathetic stance.

  • @UlvenDagoth said:

They just made Balanced Landing and actual Exhaustion perk is all. It's like them changing Legion's Frenzy to not be basic attacks for perks. They are making things more consistent. Also, strong doesn't equal broken. There was a good reason why Killers AFK'ed or left those maps. Also Medkits heal others faster now... so im not sure where you are going with that. Insta heals were broken too, even Peanits said that.

consistency =/= balance and legion is a great example of that tbh.

The BL nerf is an example of the devs band-aid fixing, as they did with deep wounds, which in turn broke some interactions with legion, freddy, and stealth killers.

And to boot, with the BL nerf came a new map that showcases they're not even recognising the issues with map design; the new map would have had the same infinite problems as, say, haddonfield, in the middle structure if they hadn't changed the perk. That implies they have no intention of fixing these maps.

As for 'BL is just an exhaustion perk now' I can say without a doubt that many people didn't run it for the exhaustion; among good survivors, it will die, as they ran it for the stagger off hills and other structures, etc, as a type of mindgame to catch the killer off guard when they expected a slowed survivor rather than for a speed boost. The issue came in when there were structures that could be abused for loops, some of which could be abused even without BL (haddonfield, tractor will both still be just as oppressive to killer as they are now) I'd rather they removed the exhaustion side of things or gave us a new perk that did that, tbh.

  • Just sandbag them until they learn their lesson. your team will thank you for it since they're throwing the game for it.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

You should have seen how mad one of my survivors got when I camped his whole team in the basement with Bubba.

    Whew.. that dude was belligerent.

He had every right to when you removed the ability to play the game tbh, just as you'd have the right if it was a sabo squad etc

  • Whoever made these tome challenges needs firing tbh

  • Also the unhook survivors, kill 2 in endgame with noed, etc. It makes me shudder.

Plus the fact that they didn't bother to make sure that the game tracks progression properly (ie 25 safe unhooks) adds to the issues.

Its pure laziness that they didn't even give us the courtesy of making sure there werent bugs with something as basic as challenge tracking.

I just love how ridiculously easy grabs are with doc.

Treatment Mode + Spamming M1 = very frustrated survivors for my amusement.

I thank Otzdarva for showing me this trick a few months back tbh!

  • Other day had a daily to play as the doctor, (who I have almost no perks on, being my first to level 40 and haven't touched him since) and got a 4 man red rank swf with sabo that picked haddonfield. Eventually caught the main d***head that was saboing as I downed people, so I baited him into taking a hit right before saboing the hook, dropped the surv, went for him and did just as other people suggested.

Naturally, I got a 4k and there was lots of salt, but I'd have been happy just making sure the one person died.

A lot of grab animations got cancelled by dedicated servers but oh boy the treatment mode thing made that not one bit annoying tbh! Eventually the previously downed guy came to save (still injured for whatever reason) with a healthy person and they weren't too clever - the healthy person let me grab them and I instantly swung to down the other guy xD

Honestly I don't play like that normally, but when they're being in my face toxic while denying my right to play the game on even remotely equal footing, they deserve what's coming to them.

I do agree that BT and DS can be almost absolutely necessary, I hate going in without BT because it means my saves could potentially have the opposite effect and get them killed. It is always refreshing to face a Killer who doesn't immediately come back to the hook when I save someone. On the other side I hate it when someone saves me without BT and I didn't bring in DS because that's death right there and it didn't have anything to do with me playing badly or even the Killer, if you make an unsafe save in the Killer's face there will consequences.

Sadly DS isn't just anti-tunnel, i've seen it get used as a weapon multiple times, by me and other Survivors. Everyone says ''well if they don't tunnel'' or ''just don't pick them up'' but it's not that simple. If you have DS and someone is on the hook you can trick the Killer into grabbing you and then use the DS and get your friend off the hook and high tail it through the gate; it lasts 60 seconds and a lot can happen in that time so it's very easy to forget who just got unhooked.

Exactly; frustrations on both sides when it comes to this meta and I'm scared one side will be nerfed without compensation on the other side alongside itl; the game already feels unbearable as it is for various reasons

  • @HatCreature said:

I play Survivor and Killer, do you? This game is geared towards Survivors, that is why D-Strike was invented and even after the change remains powerful.

I can run a Killer around for 5 Gens, I've done it to a Hillbilly and a Spirit and her nerf hasn't come out yet. I made Legion my ######### several times and I'm talking about the OG Legion on release, I was on the PS4 so that did help. I can me my friend completely immune to damage and make the Killer blinded at the same time then hop into a locker silently then stun the Killer before they can she my friend, then my entire body blocks and takes hits so everyone can run out of the Exit.

Clown can throw bottles that make you slow, Trapper can waste the ENTIRE GAME setting up 4-5 traps, Billy has the simplest mind game when it comes to pallets and that it is the only reason I don't like facing him and Demogorgon as well.

Survivors have the advantage and those statistics don't prove anything, you can die in all of your matches and STILL be a damn god against the Killer, you can die and 2 pip. The Killer can kill the entire team and get a de-pip.

Most of what you say is true, but let's get this straight; d-strike as it is now only exists because it's necessary, as is BT. Of course it can be used to be toxic, and often is at high rank, though. And that is an issue I sadly don't see being dealt with until the underlying problems that lead to its necessity are done with too. Which really sucks. because playing vs red rank survivor 4-mans is a horrific experience, especially with the way those perks get abused there.

  • Huntresses tend to respect pallets to hell until they run out of hatchets; work out how many she has and just run throguh the pallet until shes used them all and only then drop the pallet on her bloodlust tier 3'd ass.

Billies like to mindgame with their chainsaw on pallets to force early pallet drops; you need to learn the individual billy player's playstyle in that regard, as some will never rev, while others always do to scare you into using it. Often a revving billy won't expect you to keep going (especially if you switch it up) and so will drop it anyway, giving you another loop.

  • Noone is saying it is tbh. Some changes are, but as I've said repeatedly, that's not a bad thing. And some more are needed to make it more fair for killer players...and for survivors in other scenarios.

  • @liquidlight said:

I've had games where I was killer and was gen rushed and it sucked, and I've had games where I was playing survivor and everyone died before a single gen (or maybe just one) was done and it sucked. These two situations should be looked at by the devs and a creative solution that doesn't punish anyone too badly should be thought up. Then again, slowing down the progress of an object isn't a bad thing so long as it's done fairly and both sides are treated equally. Ruin is the example of slowing down the objective.

I've learned though if you're being gen rushed it might be because you focused on chasing someone too long when you should have given up the chase or there are multiple people working on one gen and there's an amazing perk for that called Discordance. I use it and it almost always leads to me catching someone.

discordance on stealth killers or billy/spirit/nurse is pretty damn strong.

MoM is a badly designed perk. It will ALWAYS hover between OP and useless because the effect is gives is extremely strong. The update to Protection Hits will make it too strong again, imo.

BL will still be just as good as before, just no more god loops.

I'd argue BL will fall into obscurity among good survivors for the most part; maybe it could make its way into some kind of houdini build with maps like haddonfield, but that's about it. The main reason for it being picked wasn't the exhaustion part of it.

I agree re: MoM, and if that does happen I wonder if the devs would consider moving it to safe unhooks only since this would mean a maximum of 2 uses in a single game. A soft limit via the prerequisites for activation is a good start imo. With the new change, SWF will likely have an easy way to bully killers in it (see my previous comment for what I think might happen) and they won't be limited by how many can use it right now.

  • @sailormars said:

Agreed. It's the worst exhaustion perk. Before, you could argue "Oh SB isn't the worst because so and so" "Head On isn't the worst because so and so", but now there's no argument you can make as to why BL isn't worse than Dead Hard, Lithe, or Sprint Burst. It's situational as hell unlike the other 2 and has no good incentive to balance that out. That's why the stagger passive was implemented, to give an incentive to running this perk over the others.

TLDR: Balanced Landing = SB and Lithe except one is situational and the others aren't.

    dead hard>SB>lithe>BL

head-on is its own thing and while pretty good, mostly a perk for messing about and meming in general so I don't count it with exhaustion perks.

  • I'd not write MoM off right now; it's going to be broken with SWF again now they've made it easier to get protection hits. Good for WGLF too, which desparately needed a buff. MoM, plus green medkit, plus breakout could be a mini meta in itself...at least within swfs

  • Because instead of thinking about the issue with map design with regard to game mechanics, they decided to bring in a new map that literally showcases the same main issue, which BL helps to take advantage of. I never used BL for the speed, so I guess I'll never use it again outside of meming with perk wheels when I play survivor. Back to dead hard; that perk that we killers love oh so much...

  • @OtakuFreak said:

As someone who plays both roles, I have no issue with ''No One Escapes Death''. Sure, it's not particularly fun to play against, but if it does come into play, then it's entirely the survivors fault!

However, many survivors post-game give me a lot of slack for using this perk, despite running Decisive Strike, Adrenaline & other top tier survivor perks which could arguably be even more frustrating to play against. In fact, the survivor equivalent to NOED is ''Adrenaline'', which has no counter-play available to every killer, yet NOED does!

I often use NOED to punish survivors who rush generators and decide to not leave once the gates are open and want to be cheeky & annoying. Many people call NOED a perk which is for ''bad killers''. However, they ignore the fact that the correspondent killer is playing with 3 perks for the rest of the game and may not even have the chance to use it if the Survivors cleanse totems.

To me, people seem to dislike ''No One Escapes Death'' due to its power punishing gen rushing, along with any decision to stay in the end game.

    Thoughts?

I play both and hate that perk; it rewards failure so hard that it's disgusting tbh. it would be good enough with the speed boost alone - it makes no sense to give both benefits to the killer in a single perk slot, in all honesty, just as I wouldn't expect MoM to both give an endurance hit AND adrenaline, for example.

9 times out of 10 where I see Noed are on supoer strong killers that would never need the perk in a million years, and it's really depressing to see.

That and I'm not even sure that if I were to use it, it would ever even proc as I always seem to find survivors on duil totems when I play killer (yet I'm always the only one on my team to touch them in survivor games lmao)

I would actually advise against jumping to reporting just for a killer being afk. They aren't really going to gain anything from being afk as spending time in the game alone doesn't do anything for the killer if they just stand still. Just run through the game and get what points you can. It's gonna score low due to little to no interaction so it is sort of a wash. Not really worth the report. Now if they had a movement based script that you could prove without any doubt, report that. Though most cheat engine tech shouldn't work anymore now that dedicated servers are running.

Yes, with the currently obscene survivor waiting times, it's definitely a good idea not to report such an account that is clearly using a script to keep searching for games and earn points/derank for them, making the game incredibly unfun/boring/pointless for 4 people at a time.

  • @Orchid said:

I have recently encountered an afk trapper with more to it than meets the eye.

He had some sort of script that let him swing his machete whenever a survivor was close by. To be more specific, when u stood behind him, he would perform a perfect turn to swing at you and would turn back in the exact same perfect way. When i stood in front of him, he just swinged forward. And also if i wasn t close to him he wouldn t swing at all. It was really weird. Caught it on stream too.

Also why do all afk killers have hexes?

These things happen in droves; a month or so ago I regularly came across accounts that were a killer just spamming M1 while standing still; the tell was usually the rythm of them pressing ready and unready, as that was the pace at which they would also spam M1 in-game. Always a trapper, too.

1 … 32 33 34 35 36 … 45
