  • OP question is legitimate, because with percentages the result is 0.

So then why does stridor works like that ? They say % in all perks descriptions but the mechanics are based on points.

In this case you start with 100 pts of noise, IW reduces by 100 pts and Stridor increases by 50 pts, so you end with 50 pts of noise. That's basic maths but not basic percentages.

  • Some context first: I've recently come back to the game on PS4 after a pause (I stopped when PH and Cheryl went live), because I've just bought Stranger Things DLC on sales and wanted to finish the trophy list with the adepts. As I play mostly for trophies, I don't rank up very much, especially on survivor side. As a result, I came back two days ago in the game on rank 20 survivor.

And my first match was against a rank 1 Plague on Midwich... let me tell you that if she knows how to aim precisely with the purge, and infects gens regularly, she's deadly.

She's clearly underrated but I believe she takes some skill and training to be efficient.

  • And do you know the name of the first female victim in Friday the 13th ? Claudette ! another clue showing that it was planned from the beginning !

Now on topic, I believe the codenames have some meaning, it has been quite well detailed in a previous post, but Yemen could possibly mean anything and I don't understand this obsession with Jason in DBD... just play Friday the 13th !

  • I think an update on this topic would be appreciated.

It's possible. I've never played fortnite but apparently it has cross progression with it's cosmetics and such. I also know everytime Warframe releases on a new console, the PC players have the opportunity to swap their account (with all the unlocked content) to the new console.

Well, we'll see in the future but there may be some restrictions.

I don't know for Fortnite either but when people swapped Warframe from PC to PS4, not all content was transferred. Some items were blacklisted and they lost the Platinum bought on PC. Also it was one-shot, it's not a permanent cross progression so the context is different.

I really don't believe in a permanent cross-buy feature but I'd like to be wrong.

  • As every console store takes a share of what you buy, I don't think any DLC will transfer from one to another.

Buy something from Sony on PS4 and get it free from MS on PC ? Very unlikely. Every company want a bit of our money.

  • In every game with voice chat, all I can hear is people yelling, discussing something I don't care about or speaking a language I don't know, so I usually mute all.

Just do like every solo player, run Kindred.

Until the Nurse gets a buff she is useless! Her stupid 3 trophies are all I need to get the Platinum Trophy on PS4 and her mechanics are garbage! I'm tired of getting flashlight trolled by high ranks and not getting any hooks. This game sucks!!!!

I also suck at Nurse, but got the trophies anyway. Here's how, hope it helps :

    • Adept : use Matchbox add-on to be faster, and don't try to blink hit, just use basic attacks
    • In the void she kills : try farming with people, and when they're confident enough to do gens in front of you, release the shot
    • From the void she walks : eat your frustration, accept your punishment, and try to get as many hits as you can until you reach 100

    Good luck !

It is also the most recent licensed DLC. There haven't been any free weekends or discounts since its release, so all Chapters released after GF haven't had a discount yet. I think there might be one around Dead by Daylight's 4 Year Anniversary.

I hope you're right ! I just had the feeling that before Stranger Things there were sales more often on the store.

Get this achievement is unrealistic. Whether I play with or without add-ons - it doesn’t matter, the game just doesn’t allow to achieve this achievement. I can’t get rainbow emblems in all categories.

At Hag, at high ranks this is not possible. Survivors merging in the first minute on a hook or simply exit the game.

Even when I don’t camp anyone, because I try to get tokens for Devouring Hope. Make the conditions for obtaining such achievements - killing 4 survivors.

And it doesn’t matter if they left the game or not, if you killed one survivor, and the other three left the game, then the achievement is still issued.

Even if you didn’t get 2 pip but killed four survivors, you still get the achievement.

This is the only achievement I have not received. I have already completed all the other achievements (except for the achievement where everyone needs to jump into the hatch)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/442/X551JD1V812K.png

I got all the adepts with the current system in low rank. Hag being one of the easiest with less skilled survivors.

So you should really consider a derank...

EDIT : in low ranks (green and lower), the conditions to double pip are also easier to achieve

  • As a killer : running everywhere to find survivors, not understanding it was better to patrol gens...

As a survivor : fast vaulting when not in chase, cause I didn't know the killer was notified :(

  • Adam players are usually better players than others so I respect them.

I used to hate Claudettes (particularly P3) but it turned to pity recently.

Now my nemesis is Nea, or any girl with weird hair color.

  • I'd choose Pig just to get rid of her map. God I hate it so much.

  • I love when they SC while you have Sloppy and NOED is active, instead of trying to open the gate or bust the hex.

  • Agreed. I've been trying to 2-pip with all killers since I've got the game, for the adept trophies.

It's litterally impossible while using instadown powers, so you have to M1 with Billy, Myers, Plague... makes no sense.

  • Same thing happened to me in the 5 escapes of tome 3.

howdy! sorry to rain on your parade, but this game isn't a competitive game at all. it was forced to be due to how the community sees and takes it.

dead by daylight is an asymmetrical 1v4 game, and it was originally ruled as a casual party game on various sources until people started taking it way too seriously, and that it was eventually advertised as competitive. only once, however, though i do not recall where.

but my main point is that because dead by daylight is as asymmetrical as it is, it cannot be competitive, hence why it was originally made for casual play.

How can you hold a debate without knowing the meaning of words ? Competitive is the opposite of collaborative. A game involving one side against another is competitive by essence, it has nothing to do with casual or asymetric aspects.

There's a casual mode in dbd, it's called kill your friends. But you can't make it collaborative either as in the end some win and some lose...

  • @Toasty said:

Honestly I just wish there would be one good perk that punishes face/insidious camping. Borrowed Time is good for those that proxy camp, but it doesn't help if the killer is standing right in your face, ready to pull you off the hook immediately when you make the attempt.

Would love a perk that increases the speed of taking someone off the hook depending on how close the killer is (max 150% faster if the killer is within touching distance).

Dude that's a really good perk idea

  • @LordGlint said:

Feel like at least for me... The people who accuse me of tunneling are often times just the ones who arnt as good at hiding or looping as their teammates. If your the only one I see around, Imma chase you... and just because I hooked you twice in a row, doesnt mean I didnt bother looking for and chasing someone else. They mightve either been too stealthy and I didnt find them at all, or was in too strong of an area and I had to abandon that chase.

    Absolutely.

I always leave the hooked survivor, as I care for my emblems. But if he's unhooked near me, I always tend ton chase the unhooker. If they escape and I find the unhooked one self-caring behind the rock right next to the hook... boom... is that tunneling ? No.

A competitive game would mean to have the same starting conditions for all players. Thats not the case, gaming is not competitive just by playing against someone else.

It is, but talking semantics is a bit off-topic so you may just search the definition in a dictionary.

  • It litterally is, as two sides play against each other. A non-competitive game is when all players have the same objectives, which is not the case.

  • Sorry but the mistake you make is that it IS a competitive game

  • He should just have given the killer that freakin challenge and moved on, what's so hard about that ? He lost anyway.

More like just install the program or get a better monitor that has the option. DBD dont need to HD your hand. Neither is it a FPS game like CoD.

Welcome to 2019 where games like Dark Souls tell you to git gud n00b. We shouldn't have to hold your hand like a Mario game.

Wow why don't you cool down a little ? No need to be rude. And remember that not everyone play on PC so it would be a nice add on like for Nurse and Doc

  • So now every trial must be analyzed to determine if it was fair from killer and survivor perspective ?

Why do people get so mad about this game ? You did nothing wrong and shouldn't worry about all this. Neither Laurie did with her DS.

    It's.only.a.game.

  • @Hex_NoGenrush said:

@Atchoo Hmm understandable, I guess. But it's a shame really that the devs haven't implemented a perk that would automatically prevent generator progression throughout the map, even if it's for a limited amount of time. Would give an incentive to play killers other than god-tier ones.

Your idea is good, only if the touched gens stay red and the untouched white, because this visual indication is really helpful. As others said, Thrilling Tremors is more of a tracking perk.

  • @Khar said:

Punished for using a function in the game.. Why do you word it like that? You think people shouldn't be punished for abandoning the match prematurely? Why did they even hit 'Ready', then?

Well I word it the way it is. I'm all for the DC penalty, I hate when people leave like that, but if DCs are forbidden, why let people do it with a simple button ?

  • @Boss said:

Because people can just force-quit in numerous ways that cannot ever be stopped, like cutting off the connection entirely.

That's exactly my point. There are several ways to quit the game (suicide, close app, pull the cable) so the exit match option is rather unuseful, even more now you get a penalty by using it.

I think the penalization should be for those who press the button "exit" in the middle of a match and not for those who disconnect because an error/bug. 🙃

Though devs need to address that problem, it can't be by restricitng the penalty to exit button, as the system would not penalize those who ragequit with cable pulling / hard closing.

If it was this simple, they just would remove the exit button -> problem solved. I mean why implement a button and punish its use ?

  • Never.

And as a survivor (main Jake, no toxic behaviour/outfit), I never faced a killer who did either.

  • @Kenidur said:

You have some serious bugs to fix for this. I just got into a match where I couldn't run, Nothing like being forced to walk around with a killer chasing you. Get 3 feet before they down you, that's a joke and a half, I dropped a pallet on the killer and "ran" away. killer destroyed the pallet and downed me before I got past the connected wall. I'm not staying in a match like that, nor should you punish anyone who quits a game because it's bugged out.

Why not just let yourself die ? At least you get some BPs, Rift progression and avoid DC penalty.

I unhooked myself which only happens on first hook state. Then was dead on hook next time skipping the 2nd phase

That's must be glitch a glitch due to the fact that it was a last second unhook.

I unhooked myself more than 50 times and always got to struggle phase if I was re-hooked after. But it was most time with deliverance so early 1st stage.

So this is just a quick list of issues im having, not any bug`s or anything just thing i think should be looked into being changed. Obviously comment yourselves just hoping a dev will see and maybe shed some light on these

    • Pipping issues as plague: some reason even if i do really well im not award the same sort of pip`s as i would if playing another killer, im not sure if its due to people not cleansing, puke downs or what but it`s a tad annoying.
    • Matchmaking: dont always seem to be matching with the right ranks, i get that if it cant find a game close to your ranks it will find you the closest, but this raises the issue of lack of red rank killers (rank 1/2) as i`ll be in games with purple ranks
    • Toolboxes: Still not sure why basic brown toolboxes moderately increase repair speed, it should only be slightly in my opinion, they're easily found and obtained. also think the actual % speeds that all toolboxes provide should be slightly lowered as 4 toolboxes become insanely strong.
    • Pig traps: i feel the fact traps only stop ticking down when a chase begins can be unfair at times, you dont really have time to heal and get round to all the boxes avoiding the killer, more commonly you seem to have the choice of letting the killer down you easily because youre out positioned but need to get into a chase, or avoid the killer via stealth but the longer you avoid the killer the higher chance the trap will kill you even though moving/running is likely to let the killer get an easy down.
    • Map size: maps like the temple of P or rotten fields seem extremely large compared to others and feel they should be shortened. (rotten fields may need 1/2 pallets more if making it smaller)

Hello, just some advice for pipping as plague:

    • Don't give max illness to healthy survivors. It's bad for Malicious emblem as the resulting injured/broken status doesn't count as a hit
    • Avoid drinking the red pools. The corrupted purge may injure survivors before you get in chase
    • Injured survivors cleansing counts as a healing so it's also bad for Malicious. So you would limit the use of Vile Purge also

As a synthesis -> To pip as Plague, use mainly basic attacks. Vile Purge is ok to slow down survivors but should be used cautiously.

Legit all of this shows how much skill you don't have man

  • I must admit that, for this challenge, I facecamped the last one because I wanted to go to bed... but with Myers, not LF as I don't have obsession perks on him.

I also admit that about 1% of my killer matches I pick LF and chainsaw facecamp just for fun. Get tons of salt everytime but it makes me laugh.

It's not a trick. Although I have mained killer, had a lot of fun doing so, and sometimes still have killer game here or there (mostly to rack up BP for my Survivor), I am maining Survivor currently. The Advice I gave in my post is based off of an actual game I played, and won because I was able to actively deny the killer the ability to gain many blood orbs at the cost of being revealed to him all game long. I've become pretty confident at my looping, routing and Juking skills in the 143 hours I have maining survivor, and welcomed the chase. Sure I went down 2 times that game because i couldn't really lose him and had to rely more on my looping/routing ability (plus pallets were running out), but the fact remains that I was in control of how often he was able to use his power at the small cost of being constantly visible to him.

Like I said, If you go up against this add-on, are healthy, and confident in your looping/routing skills, eat up those orbs for your team and distract the hell out of the Oni. What really won us that game was 2 things:

    1. He didn't have as many blood orbs available to him and couldn't recharge his power as often.
    2. He wasted a large amount of time coming after me instead of trying to stop my teammates from finishing gens.

The reason Oni is so loopable, IMO, is because he's so loud that (with headphones) you can literally hear what direction he's moving behind walls at jungle gyms, and mind-gameable loops. Hiding his red Stain doesn't do much for him when it comes to mind-gaming if you just pay attention to his stomping. Also since his power stops passively charging at 98% and he has to get a blood orb or a hit on a healthy survivor to finish charging it, I basically denied him one of those options for the majority of the match. Admittedly this is one of my first posts giving advice to survivors, but you shouldn't bemoan this advice just because I mained killer for so long, and decided to change my profile picture when I posted this.

If you want I can reverse the role here and make a response tuned towards what the killer I went up against must've been thinking:

    (Killer sided post)

"Renjiros Bloody Glove is Trash now. Just had a game where a survivor spent almost the entire match sucking up all my blood orbs and t-bagging me. He couldn't hide from me all game, and If I focused on him I could catch him, but I wasted so much time going after that turd that the gens just flew, and I hardly ever got to use Oni's power. Thanks Devs, you just killed Oni's best add-on, no ones going to use this piece of crap now!"

Does the killer main perspective make my advice sound any better?

I don't doubt your sincerity, I just did'nt and still don't get why others did. End of digression :)

Thats almost true..but not entirely. You should see +,- 6 ranks rarely, only if there is no other option. But thats not happening. You dont see worse (or same) survivors at all. And better ones? In fact thats all you see. And it has been like that for the last 2 weeks (from the day matchmaking wasnt working).

Really, I almost never get lower (worse) ranks than me..they are ALWAYS better and always 3-6 plus. It definitely should be around your rank most of the time but its not. I get survivors of my rank or worse just once in a couple of days, maybe. Yesterday I played 5-7 killer games and the closest one was me 9, survivors 8,6,6,5. Not even one survivor (from yesterdays 20-28) was at my rank or at worse. And thats really just a cherry on top. The days before that were even worse.

But in reality I dont really care as much because I play mostly Oni and Spirit so I can manage to win most of the time anyway. But when I use Ghostface (e.g.) Im usually done pretty quickly..the game is over in 5,6 minutes.. so I would rather if the matchmaking was working as intended:) As TRULY intended.

I understand that there's a difference between theory and practice. The matchmaking is working, according to the theory, but it sucks when you get only strong opponents even if they're just 5 ranks above you, which is already huge.when they're 4 vs 1.

Too many factors are involved to let us figure out what's really happening. It depends on region, time, platform, rank...

I play 50/50 on PS4 in West EU and don't feel so bad about the MM. My games are never that unbalanced on either side.

Bloody Coil, Iridescent Stone, Match Box, Mint Rag, Iridescent Head, Iridescent King, etc…

Those are all good, some over powered, Ultra- rare add-ons that haven’t been changed.

    I don't see any OP add-on here.

Trapper is pretty weak at base so he needs those add-ons.

The Match Box basically turns Nurse to an M1 killer if you can't blink perfectly.

Iri head requires skill and is very limited without a belt.

  • I can't say much for Demo because I don't own it, but as far as I read the UR don't look that bad. Indeed, there's only two add-ons related to shred (one brown and one yellow), it maybe a dev choice to put the accent on the portal ability.

    As for GF now :

    • OUTDOOR SECURITY CAMERA

It is a good add-on imo, showing survivors so you know where to go next. It's consitent with Thrilling Tremors perk wich shows you where the other survivors may be when you pick-up one. The only bad side of this add-on is that it may encourage slugging.

Anyway I don't understand why it would require certain perks to be useful ?

    • GF CAUGHT ON TAPE

It's the only add-on that helps stalking when leaning, it has nothing common with Outdoor security camera so I don't get your remarks.

    Two things though:

    1. OP said "To be honest, I did main killer for the first 1000 hours, but have been maining survivor for the next 1000." Emphasis on "have". Meaning they are currently maining Survivor in this, their current, 1000 hours.
    2. Just because they are a Killer main or post Killer sided posts doesn't mean they are wrong. Its a legit strategy to counter the changes to the UR add-on for Oni. If you are good and the Oni you are facing isn't great.
    1. Still a big no, the OP has been maining Survivor for 143 hours by now, and mained Killer for 1000 hours (as it's over), but whatever... it's off topic and irrelevant
    2. That's my point. I totally agree with you, so I really wonder why other Survivors mains reply "Nice try" or "Killer main" as if the OP was trying to do some trick I still don't get.
  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/914333#Comment_914333

Yes, grammatically speaking, saying that you have been playing DBD for 10 years implies that you plan to continue playing it and haven't yet finished all the playing you plan to do. Otherwise you would simply say "I played DBD for 10 years".

But you're right, the OP's observation is equally valid regardless of whether they have played 1000 survivor hours yet or not.

With all due respect, you should review the PPC tense.

The elapsed time in the sentence must be from the past until now, not in the future.

" I've been playing dbd for 10 years" means that I began 10 years ago and still playing.

"I played DBD for 10 years" means that I played for 10 years but not playing anymore.

Anyway, looking at the OP's profile, they only posted killer sided comments before today, so I wonder : if this thread is a trick, what is the aim of it ? It looks like a sincerely good advice for survivors...

  • @Fibijean said:

They never said that they had over 2000 hours. They said they mained killer for the first 1000, and have been maining survivor ("have been maining" meaning they are still in the process) for the next 1000, of which they have completed 143 so far.

    Not really.

Or I can say I've been playing dbd for 10 years as I'm in the process ?

Not that it really matters anyway, or means that OP is sincere or not.

If his flick was unintended then why did they nerf it instead of removing it?

They said it was faster than intended, not that it was unintended. They just fixed a known issue listed in the release note (which everyone should read)

  • I didn't think it was worth a perk slot before, but I've been using it since it was changed and I love it.

  • @JohnyBlood said:

Guys, matchmaking is not working at all. At least in central Europe. As a killer you always get much better survivors.

Im currently rank 9 as a killer and every other game I have 4 red ranks against me. If not red then purple + red. Nothing else. And it has been like that for 2 weeks now. For example just yesterday I was playing 5 - 10 killer games, all of which were just purple/red players, not even one green. One of these matches was 4 ranks 4 versus me- rank 9, nearly 10. And its always like that for me these days and as I have seen a lot of players in central Europe have this issue:( Its so frustrating to play like this. Most of these games are over in 5 minutes :( But thats another topic. I had to stop playing yesterday just because of it. Not fun at all.

The matchmaking has a limit of +- 6 ranks, so if you're rank 9 you may face rank 3 to 15 survivors. So it's working as intended, the problem is that you're almost purple... so maybe the killer/survivors ratio in red and purple makes "high green" killers like you pair with higher ranks survivors.

Not having played 1000 hours killer to be good is my excuse, but going against survs with 800+ hours in the game. "Balance".

I think that the problem in this thread, which is transcripted in your last sentence, is that you mix 2 different topics:

    • Matchmaking (facing people with more playtime / skill / experience / whatever)
    • Balance (supposed disadvantage on one side like killer vs SWF)

SWF gives an advantage to survivors, not only upon killers but also upon solo survivors. But at equal rank, SWF teams won't crush killers everytime.

The issue is when you face red SWF commando teams, so it's 100% a matchmaking issue (no bugs, but flaws in the conception)
