  • I think it's really not easy to be a dbd dev.

When you designe a new perk you want to come up with something that feels new and different from other perks of the same category. Then you need to think about stuff like is the perk to strong on nurse or on swf and then you need to think the other way around is it strong enough against swf to strong against solo to strong against trapper but useless against nurse.

That is probably not easy since killer can differ in power level so much and solo and swf can differ so much to

Yeah, it seems that has the potential to be seriously abused.

Yeah that's just how devs need to think for dbd for killer they alwqys need to think of how would nurse be with that perk or that perk combo and for survs they always need to think is that still fine when 4 people throw it at the killer

  • Only killer I every see Franklin's on are hag woho has a pretty good reason to use it and Pinhead that's it

  • I fell then it would loose its flair. We have enough perks that just regress the Gen when x happens

The difference is, that it was cheap and rewarding to do that. That was the reason for change. Flashlights are already so hard to use (and have so many counters), that toolbox/medkit is always better choise - meaning another nerf makes no sense from gameplay perspective. No toxicity stuff involved in discussion...

The problem is that flashlights should be hard to use for what they do. You can delete half of the chase the killer did with that item so it should be something that isn't easy to use. For the same reason I'm not a fan of many regression perks we have right now cause PR and Pop atleast needs a down and hook but other perks are a bit over tuned in my mind.

And then you can put the toxicity and the health stuff in that discussion so in my book the change is deserved and I don't think it is to detrimental

  • Ina 1v4 the 1 should be stronger in every 1v1 and it should either take the whole team or a really skilled duo to overpower him.

The only thing that really bugs me to no end is when you have guys like trapper nemi or oni and the door gets blocked by a Feng or nea I mean how that makes me instantly feel #########

If a survivor plays agressively after being unhooked, they forfeit their right not to be chased.

The game doesn't need to recognize it.

With a baseline 5 seconds DS, I think the game would be much better right now.

Then, give all survivors an increasing repair bonus speed if the killer camps for a log time. Problem solved.

I think the game should recognize it because first they will still cry about tunneling but if all official anti tunnel tools turn of its like the game is saying that's on you buddy and second they still prolong your chase with a tool made for something else a tool specifically given to weaken tunneling

collective blame. So nerf all killers because some nod head, attack ppl on hook and stuff. Right? Makes sense right?

Yes it makes sense what else you gonna do?

And of course killer see the same we got basekit BT because some killer tunnel like crazy but not all do this

While I do agree they're fubar, running around and stabbing people CAN be fun, though!

I don't get what survs really want. They don't want plague legion or Pinhead because they stretch the game and that's boring but the also don't want nurse blight or weaker because the end cases quickly and make the game to short to get points

  • Would be actually cool to have killers that completely change how the game is played for example I would love a killer that isn't on the map at all maybe let him see the trial from the top and let him send npcs like nemis zombies and let him place traps and stuff.

  • @Xord said:

    That's still a nerf?

The same way the toolboxes were indirectly nerfed when gens went to 90 charges (because toolboxes did less %age of the generators).

That doesn't mean they became trash, and that doesn't mean we can't complete generators anymore.

A nerf is a nerf, however small it is. I'm not sure what you don't understand.

That is true it is still a nerf but it's a nerf that is maybe necessary and if it's really bad now to use a torch you guys should maybe go and complain to your own part of the community cause it was survivors who overdid it with there macros just like you lost the anti camp idea bhvr tested because survs where quick to find a way to turn it into a weapon

  • @Xord said:

tunneling is a higher priority than camping, but yeah, the state of the game is actually good if you play against a fair killer.

The problem is that right now, most killers abuse tunneling to get easy 4 kills.

Camping is a more rare occurence, as it's incredibly unfun for the killer. But tunneling needs to go.

The big problem I see with tunneling and camping is what to do about it without killing it you know.

Both tactics have its place its just the extremes that make it unbearable. You could slap every anti tunnel perk into basekit and make the unhooked survivor a walking tank and that certainly would solve the problem but you would create new ones. Basekit BT was a good step in the right direction but now you see many survivor that use it do dive the hook and then block with bt and either escape or scream bloody murder when they get "tunneld".

BHVR should first work on a system that can identify if the survivor gets tunneld or if he trys to use his antitunnel offensive.

Maybe we could just make the unhooked survivor invisible and loose collision so he can get away and reset and the killer can hunt the one that unhooked theoretically that would kill tunneling completely

Omg wait though since Parallel Universes are canon why not just give us an entire chapter with Ji-Woon Hak as the surivocr and Yun-Jin Lee as the killer

I'd genuinely eat that the ######### up

Wait karu multiverse is canon in Dbd?

Well screw a it every argument against genderswap has now lost it wight when it comes to original Characters atleast. You always have that one universe where everything is the same except for genders and we often have Universes where good and bad are swapped bhvr should go for it.

And as long as it's just skins for example no one gets hurt otherwise the blight skins from Halloween are a problem to cause trapper would need to be a raging beast know

  • Oh how the turns have tabled the last 6 years most of the killer roster was survivors plaything and these changes where good the only thing they need to do is tune down blight and nurse a bunch and get some of the still weak killer up even more. Oh and maybe come up with a good solution to camping then the game is 100% fine

  • @not_requested49 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349852/sadako-needs-a-buff-please

Sadako is already fun tho? And with the Iri tape and ring drawing, I'd definitely say she's pretty deadly, probably on par with pig's crate of gears and tampered timer

If anyone needs a buff to be more fun and less boring it would 100% be Freddy, his power both sucks and is boring whereas sadako's can at least be fun and can be improved via addons

I think a killer should not be relying on an iri and a bother addon to get pretty deadly they should be deadly basekit and just get a bit better or change there focus on one part of there kit

  • You know what I think you are right and that the combo could need a nerf but every time I see a survivor make a valid argument about something that needs a nerv they say nerf it (wich again is fine) or just just get rid of it for good and now your whole argument sounds stupid and like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

Sounds stupid and if you just think for half a second you see it yourself I mean do you guys actually think bhvr would just delete a perk and say well that killer just brings two perks now lol

  • Since we now get this super funny but stupid Dwight mummy skin I would love a Scooby-Doo skin pack with four skins for the survs and maybe four skins for killers that are designed in a Scooby-Doo fashion

  • I said it once and I say it again.

It is good for the players if they can see there own rank and there opponents rank after a game. First it helps analyzing why you lost where did you screw up and why is important and knowing you faced a opponent that is simply better is important to. And second it just helps te keep a calm mind when I lose a game on all levels and get dragged through the mud and I see in the endscreen that guy was like two or more ranks above me I can get angry about the obviously bad matchmaking cause the game was decided in the lobby

That's a good point btw. I loved our discussion about this topic. Hmmm, but I believe that sadako should have this feature somehow changed. I play solo queue almost all the time, so it seems that I am powerless most of the time btw. Anyway, great conversation.

First of all I don't think that needs to be fixed cause it's so incredibly niche and needs set up not like it was with pig. And second how would you even change that? With pig it was the problem that you have four survs and and four boxes and as a surv you need to find out wich box is the right one so it was easy to make a change and say here is one more box and you lose the trap after x boxes no matter what. TVs work differently you know wich TV is the right you cant try to use another one and if you change that so you could try other TVs till you succeed it would kill that part of her power once and for all wich is already super weak

  • I mean i love exclusive stuff because I like the idea of having something to show. Not necessarily to brag about but to say hey look I have that cool Halloween 2019 skin I'm with that game since that for example just fits my vibe in games but I never felt pressed to buy because of that I ever only buy skins I would buy regardless

  • @TheSubstitute said:

In my opinion, you're partially correct and partially not. I do like solo queue myself, survivors have a lot more tools to counter camping and tunneling than before, and more of my losses are due to either me or any of my teammates making mistakes than the Killer trouncing us. In my opinion as well, I think a lot of the 'solo queue is unplayable' comments, not all but a lot, come from people who either aren't looking objectively at their performance, don't have the experience to see the mistakes, or are attributing their team's mistakes to something the Killer did.

That said, solo queue survivor does need more buffs. Considering the delta between SWF and solo queue there is no reason why solos shouldn't be able to tell basic info such as in chase, on a gen or going for a save.

Ideally, I would like to see the following in order of importance:

    (a) status icons that show what each survivor is doing

    (b) Basekit Kindred without seeing the Killer's aura

and as BHVR has now demonstrated that it is willing to shake things up to encourage healthier play

    (c) Reassurance getting buffed to about a minute duration per hook stage and it's range increased and

    (d) any combination of DS going back to 5 seconds and it working on both hook stages.

    (e) Possibly giving a Dying Light similar effect after to Killers or a BBQ and Chili effect basekit to Killers

The first two suggestions would only have an effect on solos vs SWF as it would give some much needed information to solos and perk variety. Part of the reason I like 6.1 so much is because my choices of viable perks is greatly enhanced thus improving the fun factor.

Suggestions 3, 4 and 5 I'd like because I believe the game is at its most fun and healthiest when a multiple hooking playstyle is encouraged. After achieving this, BHVR could make balance changes as appropriate if needed.

However, while what you say has a lot of truth I don't find it representative of the whole picture and that's why I still think solo definitely needs buffs

That all sounds good in my book.

The only addition I would wish for is that bhvr sits down an work on a system that reliable can detect if a survivor loudly screams tunnel me.

I am for every possible tunnel nerf in the world as long as ds otr basekit BT and God knows what all turn of if the surv is running straight at the killer to block a door or take a hit. In that case you are not being tunneld so you don't get protection

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3219423#Comment_3219423

Well ngl not very reassuring. But also that's no excuse for not nerfing his addons. I like blight a lot he's in my top 3 killers but 3 or 4 of his addons are insanely oppressive. I get the techs will take awhile to fix(if they ever do that is) but his addons should've been nerfed ages ago.

True true. But that's another department again and God knows what they have piled up on there table with stuff like onryo and twins and Myers that all need balance to a certain level

  • I mean is it strong? Yes. Could it need a nerf? Probably.

But why all these people come with the same idea. Oh just get rid of the incapacitated and compensate that with more regression. no no no we don't need another regression perk we have enough perks that fo the same thing just triggert differently.

  • I mean if you where right at the window so he could have m1 you i don't see a reason a grab attack with an extended mutated worm arm thingy coulnd reach you

  • It wasn't that long ago. I think Mandy said it under one post about hugtech before that they said nothing and we only had that one ex dev that designed blight that said he did it that way intentionally but nothing official.

And since we all know dbd has some weird spaghetti code it's no wonder it takes time to fix that otherwise his while collision could break or idk clows bottles stop working suddenly that code is really strange

  • Well actually yes. Atleast when it comes to hugtech they said it is an unwanted exploit and they are looking into it. I think it just needs a lot of time to fix without breaking everything else when it comes to his collision

If that was truly the case and it's too much work for them, I wish they'd just be honest and admit it instead of finding a terrible excuse (like we have too many players who speak different languages lol).

The problem is they could totally just tell the truth and at this point I believe the truth is they just don't want any Form of communication at all but they now it's to late to take swf out of the game so they hide behind lies

  • Most of the time when I get heat from my team cause I have one or zero hooks I just do gens but the killer never stumbles over me

3 gens poping during the first hook ? Really ? Are you playing against swat swf squad ?

That is a rare scenario. Like one in 10 matches or less. Most of the time the killer hooks someone and sees no gens being done for a while longer. In fact it is common for killers to get 2-3 hooks before the second gen pops.

Excuse me what? Do you get matched with people that just started or are you just some killer God because never in my dbd life did I see something like that

You are comparing an endgame perk to anti tunneling perks. You either don't understand how this comparison makes no sense, or you're being intentionally obtuse about it.

Nah they think tunneling and camping is bad at endgame too

    go patrolled some gens!!

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3215810#Comment_3215810

They are working if you are tunnelling the survivor. So by your logic, tunnelling is not tunnelling anymore because it is end game :)

Yep you are right the second the gates got powered there is no such thing as camping and tunneling cause what do you want the killer to do patrolled the gens?

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3215794#Comment_3215794

And i am asking nerf for it? It should not work after hatch closed, it makes lose - lose for the last survivor. Kill should not be free? Like what DS & OTR did before their nerfs.

Remember Me & NWO should not work after hatch closed, they should work only if all gens finished.

Nice how you just ignore the fact that ds and otr work the whole game and nwo only in the end game

  • Do you know why stuff like otr gets nerfed from what we see in the PTB.

You can thank your fellow survivor that give all they can to find stuff like stacked endurance where the killer needs 5 hits to down some one. Who ruined bhvrs idea to stop camping? Survivor it's always survivor ruin stuff for themself

  • In the first weeks of the update it was a good way to see if a player just players much wich in return could or should lead to being better then me playing 5 games a week but now it shows nothing

  • @scenicpickle said:

i feel one way that mind you wouldn't solve camping hooks but perhaps improve the situation is not letting the killer see the timer like with deep wound you can see what stage and if the timers paused but not where it is exactly

    What do you guys think

Nah full on camping sucks and this wouldn't help with that. But if your team decides to let you hang there for almost the whole first phase it's fair game if the killer capitalises on that team mistake

Its not his backstory that makes him not fit; its his cosmetic designs that make him not fit in dbd

Why because horror things need to be muddy and bloddy to be scary? If he was a mid west rock artist no one would make a fuzz but because he is Korean and rocks a vibrant color pallet he "doesn't fit" and even gets called homophobic slurs.

We have that wierd elephant clown and Santa clown but Trickster is to much I get it.

They should make a German nazi doc and put him in hilarious Bavarian cloth and I bet no one would say it's not a fit

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

I love this perk, it's been such a good addition to the game. It's saved teammates that were camped or I didn't have time to reach in time.

There is one thing I would love for you to add: let it work through floors. Or at the very least, let it work above the basement. Reassuring someone camped in the basement means I have to go down there, get very close to the hooked person, and most likely get downed myself, because camping a basement is easy, and I'll get hit twice. (not to even mention what happens when Bubba or perma tier 3 Myers are in play)

Also, I'd like to hear people's opinions on this: do you agree with killers being able to see the white glow around the person who got reassured? I know that a killer who's really paying attention would notice that the hook progression isn't moving anyway, but still that takes attention, and I think that a lot of killers wouldn't notice right away.

The white glow is like a big neon sign for the killer that he should stop camping so in my mind that's something good

  • I mean tunneling and camping sucks but the basement is designed to be the worst place for the survs.

Your don't let the killer down the same surv in a row idea wouldn't work cause you would need that surv to not be able to progress the game in any way

  • @egg_ said:

Why not overhaul Twins power so they won't rely anymore on what makes them extremely unpopular, that is: being on the floor for most of the match?

That would be great but I can't imagine a way to do that without taking away what makes them the twins

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3206808#Comment_3206808

Maybe not always but a majority of the time. There is no opportunity for survivors to come back from a bad start unless the killer simply screws up royally. If someone goes down within 15 seconds of the match starting, then you can pretty much know already the match is a goner. Survivors need a gen or two done before someone is hooked because the killer gets so much pressure from someone being hooked or slugged.

I mean you are kinda right but it also goes in reverse. Not everyone plays nurse or Blight and with the weaker killers you need to get a hook before the first two gens pop because you need that pressure. That's why I like to play legion and plague because I can stall the game quite good and can lift some of that need to quickly kill pressure of me but guess what survivor don't like that either

  • @Relix_Fichter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3206710#Comment_3206710

Considering how... inconsistent to put it mildly DbD is, they're probably loading into the game not expecting to find themselves in an unpleasant situation, which are a minority of matches excluding some unlucky days. And I hope that anyone who DCs or suicides 2 matches in a row understands that by that point they need to let it rest for a while.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3206721#Comment_3206721

Of course there's that, it's just that personally I don't find any individual match important since they're short and I usually play through several each night so isolated annoyances are insignificant. Hook suicides aren't common enough to leave a strong impression that there's something seriously wrong that needs to be looked at, plus I think that the whole process of finding a match, waiting in the lobby, loading in, and running around for 2 minutes just to leave almost immediately with nothing to show for it is by itself deterrent enough for would-be "serial hook suiciders" to prefer quitting the game instead of wasting their time loading in and out of matches for fifteen minutes.

But a dc or suicide ruins that game and they arent that rare atm and when you are like me and most of my friends adults with kids and stuff like that you may play ten games a night and when you have two or three of these guys it has quite the impact for me that's why I play less and less because it's horrible as a surv atm and even as killer it's not that much fun because you either have an early dc or suicide or the real hard guys that's all I see atm

  • @Relix_Fichter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3206397#Comment_3206397

I agree with you that some people give up for dumb reasons or too easily, and there have been a few games where I wish they'd stuck around since even with 3 we managed to make a lot of progress, but this is after all a game meant to be fun and none of us can really know the circumstances behind someone's decision to abandon the match by any means.

Maybe the "fast down" was due to a hit that felt unfair or an unfortunate spawn in a deadzone. Maybe they don't have the energy to play on a map the killer brought where (s)he has a huge advantage. Maybe they don't want to deal with the 3rd Legion in a row, or Alchemist Ring Blight, or Starstruck Nurse, or some other highly mobile and powerful killer with slowdown upon slowdown when their wish is to play a few relaxed matches before going to bed. I can't and won't blame anyone for not wanting to put up with a stressful game.

I mean yeah I can understand them to but the right move then is to don't play. It's what you sign up to when you play dbd you know what can happen so be mature enough to stick with your decision or just don't start and I really don't mean that as an insult or try to be mean but I think when there is stuff that brings you personally to say I want out of that round asap it might be better to take a break and hope for nerfs

  • @Veinslay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3206404#Comment_3206404

Pick them up!! Slugging is a boring, no skill strategy that isn't fun for the survivors!!

Then oni and Meyers need work on there power because picking up let's you lose the power they are designed to slug and snowball and twins are totally relient on slugging with the new ub you could get real problems to reach the survivor you downed with your power using your skill

  • @Veinslay said:

The counter is easy you baby killers, pick them up immediately! Boom, no unbreakable. If you get flashlight stunned or pallet stunned by a SWF with 2 people by the downed survivor, you get outplayed. Get better. SWF with one person on gens is massively killer sided!!

Okey Mr. 50 million hours remium survivor what about oni Meyers and twins they kinda need slugging

  • @Relix_Fichter said:

It can be annoying when it happens, but it's a negligible issue. Matches don't last long anyway, and with a person out early, they finish even sooner. So at that point I take it easy and use it as an opportunity to earn some Boldness and Altruism bloodpoints without caring what my teammates are doing or if the killer is sweating their fingerprints off. When I go down I simply move on to the next match. It's pretty relaxing.

Generally I don't hold it against my teammates if they DC or hook suicide, since there are many valid reasons for them to want to do so, and I don't believe it's an appropriate response to keep people imprisoned in a match they've no interest in playing. 90% of hook suicides I've witnessed happen during a match that from the very beginning is obviously going to be frustrating or impossible (like 2 downs at 5 gens, or <10 second chases against a Nurse or Blight), while on the other hand people are going to stick around for a match even if the killer very clearly has the advantage as long as they at least get the opportunity to play the game for a bit. It's more important to solve the issues that make people want to get out of the match ASAP instead of depriving them of the means to do so or punishing them.

Also, before I learned to leave them alone, people I rescued that had been trying to hook suicide never, ever contributed to the match afterwards. They either went AFK under the hook, ran directly into the killer, or even followed me around dropping pallets, making noises, and trying to bodyblock me. So yeah, just let people move on lol. You'll be in a new match in 5 minutes anyway.

But people dc/suicide for any reason under the sun.

First you have the semi good reasons like a very strong nurse or Blight that definitely need a nerf.

But then you have a giant list of reasons that every one justifys for himself but are just crap.

Here a list of things I saw myself:

    -Got downed to fast

    -don't like the map

    -don't like the killer

-don't like that one perk/addon the killer is using

-don't like the perk a mate uses

-my stealthy rescue wasn't so stealthy

    -I messed up the bilnd

-a mate messed up a blind

And my absolute Favorit basement is main building so my loops are more risky.

So you see there are tons of reasons for those people and I could go on. The problem is when you press rdy you commit to playing to playing the game and the game is some what random so you commit to this to and you really ruin the round for four other people. That's why we have a penalty for dcs and suiciding to much should be punished to.

If you don't like the game/only like the game when it fits your plan and your vision of enjoyment you should stop playing and maybe switch to a single player game where you can customize your experience

  • But vieng an swf gives advantages that can't be denied if the players actually make good use of said advantages is a different story. Even if most players doesn't use it effectively they still will fair better then when thy are matched with three random players.

And lets not forget survival rate of swf also has a little dent because there are many people even big streamers that start mememing around and do stupid stuff when they swf

1 … 15 16 17 18 19 … 35
