Yes it did. I just find it incredibly frustrating, all I really want is to get there once. Then I won't care but I just find certain situations where I lose rank, shouldn't happen? Like doing gens and escaping leads to losing rank because no one got any unhooks which loses the benevolence
You can cheat the chaser emblem system justtt ahhh lilll bit if really feel the need to. When the killer picks up a downed survivor just run in their face for the chase to start then get the heck out of there.. it considers you escaping the chase. I don’t actually know how beneficial it really is towards the emblem but it 100% will start a chance and count as a chase escaped... I think stepping in a trap mid chase vs the Trapper counts as a chase escaped but I don’t recommend that and it may have just been a bug😂
In order to consistently get a pip you have to do a fair amount of everything. You can literally be chased for 5 gens and escape but you won’t pip because you couldn’t touch gens or heal people.. you can also do 5 gens all by yourself.
You’re at the mercy of the other survivors to some extent if they don’t want heals etc. And correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure other survivors being hooked multiple times can hurt your personal emblems. I believe it shows a negative after the game for “hooked survivors minus whatever number”. I could be wrong.

Well, I never used to use it at all.... partially because I thought it was overrated and partially because I kept forgetting to keep an eye the display so it was wasted. Of late, I bring it every time. Why? The number of stealth Killers I face has been climbing every day. I suspect this is because there are more SWF every day and stealth Killers are more effective against them, taking away a lot of their 5th Perk (Comms). To put that in perspective, stealth Killers make up less than half the total Killers and yet they make up 75% of my matches on a bad day, and at least 50% on a good day. I run into the following most often:
Ghostface
Wraith
Pig
I also run into Myers frequently but I blame that more on it being October. :)
Spine Chill can ruin really fun moments too.. My friend was streaming and I’m using the point to warn her because my comms were off so she started butt dancing to mess around back at me but little did she know.. hahaha it was an hilarious series of events..
To be fair she didn’t see him right in front of her face but still🤣

trying to rank up as red ranks as survivor is just plain stupid recently, its breeding a toxic atmosphere of everyone racing to get that one unhook. I could do 2 gens, unhook 2 people with various other things like chasing, healing etc etc, even after I did all that and opened a door the killer got me and camped me on hook so I lost rank. It's so frustrating that every game I'm thinking about meeting all these bs requirements instead of actually doing the objective effectively: because I lose rank. Why is it a survivor can lose rank when escaping? it's so frustrating and really stops me from ever wanting to push to rank 1. It makes me feel so powerless.
Okay so I personally hate rank. I’m rank 1 (consistently red ranks) and it means absolutely nothing and all that happens if I have a bad game is I depip to rank 2 and am reminded how crap I was that match lol.
I would love the option to completely turn off rank and be placed in a rank cap so I can only face let’s say rank 1-5 killers and vice versa.
basically the killer or survivors I’m facing would be red ranks but I wouldn’t see my number or theirs. I would just know that I will always be facing a specific range.
Hopefully that made a little sense.

I'm in red ranks right now so I don't know if the experience is different at green/purple.
I don’t want to put too much emphasis on rank but I’m wondering this too. There can be bad games but when I’m solo and paired up with other rank 1’s to 4’s I hardly see people leaving through the exit gate without helping to go for a save during endgame and if the situation is appropriate there is solid body blocking to help out etc.. I also live by running Bond to help with resetting after injuries and also borrowed time just in case they don’t have DS and I had to go for the save.
I used to run Spine Chill all the time but my thoughts on it have changed and I think it’s extremely overrated. Don’t get me wrong it has it’s uses but it makes me laugh seeing 3-4 people all running it.. little scaredy cats😋 lol
-
Sometimes it’s hard not to linger around hooks. A lot of times I’ll spot a healthy survivor soon after hooking and I’ll start the chase but if they are bolting to a dead zone with no gens etc I see absolutely no benefit in committing to that chase and I’ll turn back to the hook. Often you can find yourself crossing paths another person going for the save and if you’re lucky they’re still injured.
Another situation could be that you have 2 people hooked basically right next to each other or one hooked and one slugged.. it makes perfect sense to patrol the area aggressively since at least one survivor is pressured to make a move into your territory.
A pet peeve of mine though is when I hook someone and immediately notice that someone left fresh scratch marks and then starts stealthing.. a bigger peeve though is a healthy survivor unhooking and then immediately going into hardcore stealth mode leaving the injured person at the mercy of the Killer.

I said 9 seconds because trapper is a 4.6 m/s killer and 9 x 4.6 = 41.4 meters
10 seconds would be fine too (46 meters)
This gives you a pretty large radius where you can reach your traps in time but doesn't let you capitilise on traps across the entire map.
15 seconds is too long for a base amount with addons. That gives you just shy of 70 meters. If you've ever used object that's about the range of object which almost the entire map. You really only ever get out of range if on COMPLETE opposite sides of the map.
True. To be honest I’m an Otzdarva fan so I’d just love to see any beefy buff for the Trapper.. not that Otz needs the help hahaa
-
The most depressing part? Probably the fact that I play it to keep my mind off killing myself... but hey still alive and still going strong I guess.
-
The best counter is try your best to avoid grouping up. If someone gets hit with Frenzy just hold W/joystick run immediately and as far as possible. You have a really good chance of escaping the terror radius or the Legions frenzy could end well before they reach you. Not a perfect strategy but can make it extremely difficult for a lot of Legions.
The dc’s could just be bad luck too.. I only had a few dc’s in let’s say a dozen of my last games and that was with devour hope proc’d.
-
Not going to lie.. deathbound is just a somewhat okay tracking perk to me but I find it funny when survivors scream and I don’t know why but I am literally trying to incorporate deathbound on more killers simply because I love the look of the perk icon hahaa love it.
-
He really should be able to carry 2 traps by default without relying on bag addons. It so simple but would make him that much more appealing. I’m also not against the idea of survivors having a set time for being trapped like 15-20 seconds before escape attempts could potentially free them unless someone goes to save them. Gives the trapper a chance to make his way over and maybe add a little pressure to others.
disarming traps could be more difficult Or punishing too
-
Bond, Empathy, Kindred, Borrowed Time, Better Together, Blood Pact, Aftercare.. DS.. I guess Buckle Up For the People combo lol.. all great solo perks...
If in-game voice chat was available then every game would be a SWF assuming they mic’d up and decided to be social.. heck even if someone didn’t want to talk but could hear the call outs from someone sharing their voice in-game..
As a survivor it sounds amazing.. absolutely
for Killers that deal with SWF’s a lot already.. maybe not so much.

I don't play too much hag but I imagine Franklin's Demise would be good on her. Hit the survivor to make them drop their item and immediately put a trap on it so when they go back to get it before the timer runs out you can teleport to them again easily. Hope that helps.
Don’t encourage Franklin’s Demise.. I’ve lost far too many brown Medkits and Broken green Keys. I enjoy the simple things😩

Hmmmmm, I just had 2 games where this has happened and it seemed like there was nothing that could be done. I only really play solo so I'm guessing everyone I was unhooking wasn't crouching despite them seeing the killer put the traps down... Fair enough then, guess that's just part of playing solo.
I would say 100% that if you were crouching and the trap went off after the unhook then the person you saved moved ever so slightly before attempting to crouch or just didn’t crouch. If a hag hooks and traps me I pre-hold crouch and never had any issues.. Also this shouldn’t have changed but you can actually stand still over traps without having to crouch.

Please it’s finally the perk that makes other Hex perks worth a try. You no longer feel bad taking a totem like Devour or Lullaby and having it disappear 30 seconds into the game because now you get another chance.
I trust that unlike all these content creators you can see that the problem is with Ruin and how it works, not Undying. Why should Undying be nerfed when its balanced with every other Hex perk? Ruin is the only problematic perk.
All the other hexes either...
- require the killer to gain tokens which all get reset upon cleansing (Devour, Lullaby, Third seal)
- Do nothing all game unless the survivor chooses to cleanse them (Retri, HG)
- Lose strength everytime a totem is taken out (Thrill)
Even NOED isn’t that big of an issue because survivors have all game to spot Undying and cleanse it. How often does a totem stand 5 gens without being spotted?
We all know this combo is getting changed and everyone is throwing Undying under the bus to keep Ruin but I think Undying is a great idea and I think if you just change Ruin so it works in a different way then Undying would be fine.
If you took Ruin out of the game then Undying would disappear overnight, only to be seen 1 in 100 games when someone wanted to try Devour or Lullaby. We all know that’s true. At the moment people are only taking it because of Ruin. So I don’t think such a niche perk should get gutted.
As BS as undying and ruin can feel especially in solo.. I’m having trouble not joining the “don’t nerf undying” side.
I’ve played against it countless times since release but literally never ran the ruin combo personally because I absolutely love Undying with Devour.. I’ve had games where they managed to get undying instead when I was at 5 stacks. Other games I’ve had 3 stacks instadowning into devour resetting and already about to get my first stack going.. and sometimes 3-4 stacks is crippling enough to completely end the game.
Devour can still fail you with undying but I swear nothing slows a game down faster than 3+ stacks of Dhope
I’m enjoying it while it lasts because Undying might get changed.. that or everyone will become totem hunting gods where no spawn is safe haha

I think I struggle a lot with recovering after I get hooked. I often get tunneled or continue to get chased and I can't get back on gens and then I die. Yesterday I was rank 8 but I bombed a little bit.
Your perks aren’t bad at all to be honest. My current build is Desperate measures, botany, borrowed time, and bond. This has maintained rank 1 for me but getting there I had on iron will, spine chill, DS and Unbreakable on my Laurie because I tend to get slugged and don’t even need DS which is great and sometimes distortion for killer perk info and blocking aura.. undying/ruin made me give up on distortion though to be honest..
Bond I find really helpful solo and highly recommend it. If I don’t have a medkit then bond helps me find someone for a heal out of chase.
If you have windows of opportunity then I actually recommend it to help figure out pallet and window spawns a little better. It helped me with understanding pathing a little more. I’m still working on judging distance better to avoid hits in certain situations but it will come.
I don’t know the exact science to it but if you finish roughly 2 gens, unhook 2, and heal people every chance you get then as long as you put up a decent fight in chase you will pip.. I mean I’ve slammed out altruism on really bad games and still safety pipped off that alone haha

Hey guys,
I have tons of hours in the game (I mean tons) but I can't seem to 'git gud.' I was not always solo in the game; at least 1000 hours I played with a friend, but now that I'm on my own I find it hard or tedious or something to rank up as survivor. I can get to red ranks but then I de-pip and I know the ranking system is sad but surely it's not that sad. How did you guys make the climb and how do you stay progressive when you're solo?
First I want to say not to stress about rank and to just make sure you’re enjoying the game even if that means putting on perks like slippery meat and up the ante Kobe build for fun.
what is your current rank, perk loadout, and what would you say is your biggest weakness/struggle?
-
@BowlofTofu said:
All four of them run it. Every time you get a hook they just pick em right off. Left and right it never stops. It's like a free get out of jail card and it's just aggravating when this is the only perk load out I see in a whole team.
Borrowed Time. Unbreakable. Decisive Strike. Spine chill.
What am I supposed to do against that? I try tunneling but then they all start protective hitting and when one is down the other pops up again and unhook and ugh it's so frustrating.
If you’re running STBFL then they will at least be feeding you stacks.. Either way you can give them a love tap if they run up in your face if they feel like wasting a little extra time mending... if it’s endgame collapse then even waiting 15 seconds won’t matter if they have DS. I think someone said something like don’t go after the hooked person but it’s not always that simple.. sometimes people rush the hook the second you put them there and other times you’re on your way back to the direction of the hook but the person that unhooked decides to stealth away and the person with BT fresh off the hook is likely running straight at you so what choice is there really lol.

-Getting a flashlight from a chest

-playing demogorgon
-sometimes when a generator gets completed
-the existence of Mother’s Dwelling
i recommend commenting what drops FPS for you as well, cause this is getting old
I’ve lost so many people mid-chase or straight up whiffed because bloodlust decides to kick in and now I’m suddenly facing a completely different direction.. wish I turning off bloodlust and even status icons was an available option. Lithe and balanced can mess a killers camera but I’ve seen people die when balanced landing hits the floor lol. It’s been a little better I’d say maybe the last 6 months/year or sloppy butcher single handedly caused the death of hundreds of survivors because second stage hook lag.. NOED popping up on the screen has killed me on the hook more times than I care to remember..

Sloppy could use a little buff to its numbers, though I wouldn't go too far. WGLF is pretty situational and depends on the actions of the killer. From my experience as a survivor, I'm afraid of how much longer certain players will be self-caring at the corner of the map.
I actually gave up on Second Wind literally because of Self-Care.. I would unhook someone and I would follow them like a puppy to the super safe corners of the map only to watch them start self caring in my face and ruining any hopes I had of filling up Second Wind.. true story lol. And the countless times a someone had come to rescue me from the hook only to tank a hit and immediately start self caring unintentionally leading to them being knocked down or grabbed as I’m still dying on my meat hook😂
Funny though because years ago I levelled up Claudette specifically for SC but I can’t even imagine running it now.

Technician doesn't need to be viable.
It (as well as Zanshin Tactics, Visionary, & Windows of Opportunity while we're at it) should have their effects bound to general perks available to all survivors rather than teachable perks locked behind DLC.
It's fine for a perk to be bad if its only purpose is to help newbies learn, it's just that Newbies should have access to them.
I’m not going to lie.. if windows of opportunity didn’t have a cooldown I’d be more inclined to run it more often. It’s not god tier or anything but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t save my butt in a pinch by helping me see good pathing and what I have to work with up ahead. I only mentioned the cooldown because I’ve missed windows or pallets because of poor camera positioning during a chase along with poor awareness from being caught off guard which is why I like leaning on windows as a crutch with some maps.. Also I personally prefer reliable info of what’s up ahead over something like dead hard for distance.

My eyes are bleeding from seeing all the “tHaNa WaS nErFeD!!” claims.
Has everybody forgotten that Thana is DESIGNED around encouraging/tricking survivors into healing more frequently?!
We need to go back to understand Nurse, and all 3 of her perks. As absurdly powerful as Blinks are, its indisputable that Nurse will have a much easier time hitting stationary targets with Blinks rather than moving targets.
Enter Stridor & A Nurses Calling. Stridor to better triangulate where a survivor is hiding behind obstructions, and A Nurses Calling for a ridiculously easy Blink target. And now for a way to greatly incentivise survivors to actually prioritise healing so that Nurse can set up those easier Blink targets. Thanatophobia. The global debuff was never meant to be oppressive enough that it’s purpose was to directly slow down gens. It was just meant to be enough of a nuisance to survivors that they heal to get rid of it. It’s through more regular healing that game stall for the killer is achieved through this perk, and shorter chases when used in conjunction with A Nurses Calling.
The problem with the devs having stubbornly stuck with this idea of Thana have a global debuff is that it backed them into a corner by having to be very conservative with the percentages. The higher that number gets, the less likely Thana is going to achieve its intended outcome: getting survivors healing, and the killer more frequently catching survivors out in a compromised position. Killers, you can’t have one perk have increased percentages to slow gens down longer AND keep survivors injured longer at no additional compromise, other than simply equipping this ONE perk and doing something you’re already going to be doing anyway: injuring survivors. That just goes to show you don’t care about balance at all. If you want to commit your strategy to keeping survivors injured in conjunction with Thana’s other debuffs, you need to compromise more perk slots to that with either Coulrophobia, Sloppy, or Forced Penance. Deal with it!
This recent change to Thana in regards to gen slow down is redundant. It doesn’t matter if it’s 5% per survivor, 10%, or 15%. Survivors are not meant to just be putting up with the debuff, except where they simply have no choice to because they’re not near teammates and cannot heal themselves. What DOES matter is that healing (where immediately available to injured survivors) will be way more attractive now that they’re aware Thana has no direct healing debuff. It’s your job as killer to CAPITALISE on this behaviour, and adjust your load out and strategy accordingly.
If your using Thana as a gen slow down perk, you’re playing the game wrong.
An issue I always had with Thanatophobia was that it literally means fear of death yet the effects become worse every time a survivor dies. I’m guessing it’s to discourage tunnelling people out of the game but it feels like a flat % across the board would make sense if a survivor died. Even something gimmicky like a 10% reduction of skillcheck size for each injured or dying survivor at least to me sounds like it would fit the theme of what the perk literally translates to.
-
I’m on console and I would love to be able to chat before/after with everyone to say gg etc With that being said I had messages blocked for awhile and recently enabled them again.. had a fun 4K trapper game and the 1 console player started a chat with me so I said ggs but the message they were writing out for me as I said ggs:) was.. “you play like a pussy” lol.. not the worst thing but even random survivor teammates have told me to off myself because I guess they were mad about dying or god knows what. I had messages blocked for a good reason but honestly there’s cool people out there and funny moments to be had so I don’t think I’m alone in the idea of crossplay chat.
-
Personally I would buff it to at least 30% and since it doesn’t matter what I say.. Also buff it to make survivors scream within 16 meters of any break animation notifying the killer of their location.

Not that these killers really need the help but imagine it muted Freddy and The Huntress’s lullaby..

I think the new changes to the perk are good however im against the added penalty for missing skill checks. I think that was unnecessary for an already bad perk.
Off the top of my head.. I would say hitting a great skill check would show the killers aura for 1/2/3 seconds. It would give incentive to go for greats and give you a little info in return I suppose.

my current build is BT, bond, botany, and desperate measures.. I already said in another post that perks like sloppy need a buff because the botany/DM combo is so strong.. if you and your team or randoms don’t go down 10 seconds within every chase you will actually have a hard time not reaching rank 1 on pretty much altruism alone.. just my opinion

I put the Legion. I've been a Legion main since they released but over the years especially after the jump to pc I've realized they're not very fun to play as or against. If you don't play them a certain way they don't work very well in red ranks and if you do play them said certain way its hell on the survivors and while my end goal as a killer is to win and kill as many as I can it starts to feel more like a chore to torture the people I'm playing against. Which becomes much more apparent that they aren't enjoying it when they dc consistently.
Undying, devour hope, agitation, bbq. Enjoy legion.

I like that facing a doctor forces random teammates to ditch hiding in every nook and cranny and be a little more aggressive. Every killer has something people will or wont like. I personally hate staring at the floor all game against a trapper but I try to laugh at myself if I step right into one.

For killers that require more methodical actions like Ghost Face 15 extra seconds of Pop is extremely useful at times.
If we’re talking Ghostface then I say thrilling should be buffed to reset after every hook

And honestly on the subject of DS.. hopping in a locker or doing a gen in the killers face is silly.. interacting with a gen or locker should disable DS. Simple.

With this update the flashlight aims at the center of your screen. So you’re going to want to aim the killers face in the center of your screen. It’s going to take practice to pull these off because timing is crucial. If you blind a little to early then you won’t get the save and if you start blinding a little too late you also won’t get the save. Theres is youtube tutorials on how to properly do it. It’s way easier than explaining here. But you basically want to start the blind just before the killer puts the survivor on their shoulder. It also depends on which flashlight you are using as they blind slight faster the higher rarity.
It’s Center now? I was so used to gauging it with my shoulder. Center it is then. Thanks 🙏
-
I’m having trouble enjoying killer in general because I have to spam the hook button and the same issue is happening while trying to open lockers or break pallets. I ended up inside a locker while doing a legion daily when I was trying to open it.. I managed to spam my way back out..
-
I cropped the names but if BHVR doesn’t actively seek out and Ban people that make custom icons etc then why should this be any different. Personally I didn’t agree with cosmetic customization even before the non mixable sets. Like Kate’s pink hat.. I like it but I’d love the option to remove it once in awhile too..
Or Feng’s demon backpack. I’d really like the option to remove it.
I love dbd and BHVR but to be as blunt as possible I buyers remorse on most of the dlc characters and perks that came along. I was excited for Bruce Campbell but then you see that he had zero love put into him it’s easy to see it was just a quick little money grab. Just my opinion.
