Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance is currently DbD's most popular killer perk with a 25% usage rate. But it's not viewed as problematic or overpowered. Here's why Pain Res is fine:

    • Pain Res can't affect a generator that has regressed to 0%.
    • The killer has to earn its value.
      • They have to down and hook someone on a Scourge Hook to use it. Not every hook they get will cause a Pain Res proc.
      • It is dependent on Hook RNG. The killer can get no value from Pain Res if they get really bad Scourge Hook spawns.
    • It offers counterplay.
      • Survivors can finish the gen before the hook happens.
      • Survivors with Saboteur can see the Scourge Hooks and act on that information.
      • Survivors can get off the gen before the hook action is completed and negate the scream.
        • Note: The regression from Pain Res is still effective despite this counterplay.
    • Its "cherry on top" effect effect is weak. It's just a scream and a few seconds of downtime.
    • Pain Res has few synergies with other perks and they can be outplayed.
      • By negating the scream, survivors can negate its synergy with Dead Man's Switch.
      • Even if they run a full carry build they still can't make every hook a Scourge Hook.
    • It is not behind a paywall. As an Artist perk it can be acquired through gameplay with no luck involved.

Eruption sees 18% usage rate by killers. Many players, especially SoloQs, harbor a burning hatred for this perk. Here's why Eruption is not fine:

    • Even after a generator regresses to 0% it can still be affected by Eruption as a gross stealth "cherry on top."
      • Thanks to this, the killer is always correct to kick the gen. There is no "Should I kick this gen or not?" question in the back of their mind. It's just "Must kick gen!"
    • Eruption's value is too easily earned.
      • If they kick a generator and down a survivor before the generator is completed, they will get value.
      • As long as they kick a generator before they get a down, they will almost always get value from Eruption for every down.
    • It offers very bad and unbalanced counter play.
      • Unless you're on comms with the other survivors it is almost impossible to prevent its incapacitation effect without giving the killer too much value.
    • Its "cherry on top" effect effect is too strong.
      • Incapacitation is a bad effect for a perk to have. Killers should not have the power to force survivors to do literally nothing when affecting them with an indirect action.
      • 25 seconds is an eternity in DbD.
    • Its synergies are too strong.
      • Other gen kicks perks, especially Call of Brine, synergize far too well with Eruption. They apply immediate/near-immediate regression to the generator to buy time for the killer to get an Eruption proc on the gen.
      • Once the regression perks have done their job and took the gen to 0% the gen still remains stealth trapped with Eruption until either the gen gets done or the killer gets a down.
    • It is behind a paywall. Unless you got/get lucky in the Shrine of Secrets, you have to spend real money to get Eruption. This is why Eruption is at 18% usage and not up there at 25% with Pain Res.

Usually I end posts like this with questions. This time I don't have any.

PR is still a good perk.

Eruption is...a good perk, but I'd hesitate to call it OP.

This game, like it or not, cannot be balanced around both solos and SWFs. And BHVR, since the rework, seem to be aiming balance at the SWF/killer matchup. Which I think is the most fair way to go about it.

That said, running perks like Empathy can allow you to pretty reliably counter it by letting go at the right time.

An 18% pick rate isn't evidence of anything besides 'this is what the meta is right now'. It's not like Dead Hard, which was something like 80% at higher MMRs. 18% means 'this fits into the game well, as it is played now'.

If you nerf Eruption, then it'll be whatever the next thing is at 18%. And then people will complain about it.

That all said, about the only thing I'd change is removing Eruption if the gen hits 0%. That is all.

Like seriously, at this point i don't even know what this game is supposed to be. In my opinion, this game is for all kinds of players, who just wanna have fun and mess around in a "horror" game. Like, it is supposed to be something where you mess around with your friends, or just chill in a solo queue match.

But nowadays, there are so many phrases for "toxic" behaviour. This game is built on toxicity, and without toxicity, this isn't Dead by Daylight. The game is not about "winning" anymore, but rather making sure that the other side loses. People have the mentality that "i don't care winning anymore, as long as the other side is losing, i'm satisfied".

We got so many wonderful communites in this game, it is one of the most diverse games in all aspects, with many wholesome moments, yet this game can turn this community into the most toxic community i've ever been a part of.

In terms of playstyles, for killers it's about tunnelling, camping and full anti-gen perks. The competetive mindset is burned into many minds (In a assymetrical horror game, can you believe it?). There are hundreds of perks in this game, yet only 2% of them are used. Let's face it, it does not matter anymore what BHVR adds to this game to satisfy the community. If it does not let you win, it doesn't matter. All these events, and fun little shenanigans does not matter, and are not appreciated to the majority, because it doesn't gain you an advantage.

And i would also like to address the behaviour of survivors. Literally half of the games i join in solo queue, the first person that goes down instantly disconnects, or gives up on hook. Nowadays, if i see one survivor go down, i get anxious looking at their icon, waiting to see that disconnect-icon. The same goes for waiting at the exit gates so that "the killer can see me leave", just to rub it in. Make sure that the killer knows i'm leaving right infront of them, and that i won, while i t-bag.

Another unpopular opinion, is that i see so many streamers, who complain or comment about playstyle / perks, yet they do the same thing themselves. Complain about the other side using the strongest perks and addons, but they do the exact same, and the whole chat agrees because they don't have any opinion, and just copies their favourite streamer.

So tell me, how does such a wholesome community, turn into such aggressive individuals, with such a competetive mind, in a game based on HORROR. This is not a first-person shooter game, or a battle royale, but an assymetrical horror game.

I love this game, and it's one of my favourites, but it's such a shame that people are so competetive, entitled, and toxic, when this game isn't even supposed to be competetive.

Sorry, but what did I just read?

I'm honestly not sure whether you are defending toxic behavior or condemning it.

That said - yeah, it's not perfect. But the meta has never been more varied, and - while some perks need a buff/nerfs reverted (Self Care needs to be unnerfed, Thana needs something between what it is now and what it was then) but yeah.

Franklin's is just annoying and shows paranoia and a hostile attitude, I am not actually recommending it as a perk to run.

Eruption is not just strong, it is outright broken and punishes the weakest role in the game. You cant balance around solo survivors of course, you cant ever fully balance an asymmetrical game by its inherent nature but that is a whole separate argument in itself... But you also cannot allow something that specifically punishes the weakest role in the game.

Not denying Prove can be strong but if they are constantly under pressure to get unhooks and stay alive, they wont be hammering gens together in peace. Most matches I lose the first two gens pretty fast as I am sure most of use do... but as I start getting hooks and gain momentum they struggle to get those last gens and Prove isn't going to help.

Either way, I don't run 'unfun' builds that I don't enjoy going against as I want to have fun chilled out games. Sure I get sweaty SWFs where there is no joy to be had but they aren't every game

    A hostile attitude?

You mean 'I actually want to win against those 4 purple medkits'?

Eruption is fine against SWF. Any nerfs to Eruption would make it pretty useless against SWF. It is rough for solos, but that's true of all sorts of things.

The issue with Prove is that organized teams with decent spawns can blow a gen up before you find them, or during a chase with almost nothing you can do against it. I had a game on Eyrie where I lost 3 gens within as many minutes, despite getting 4 hooks in that time. I simply couldn't kill them fast enough - Prove, plus that new aura reading perk is bonkers. It's almost as strong as prenerf OoO.

You may not run 'unfun' builds but:

    A. That doesn't mean the other side are going to play nice, and you'll get destroyed.

    B. Getting destroyed isn't fun either.

seriously, nothing changed, people mess around in events in other games and try to have fun

    meanwhile this community

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TE8MZ3T59CNF/image.png

i tried to playing around in a snowman, 2 gens popped.....

and yes im running a "tryhard build" as well since every other fun build i tried basically got me nothing but survivors saying i suck thanks <3

and no i didn't win because of eruption or the build i won because they 3 gened themselves like usual so don't go there

so why don't we maybe stop sweating for 3 seconds and run something different ? or maybe don't insult people that are trying to have fun

It's a vicious cycle. Survivors are sweaty because killers are sweaty because survivors are sweaty because killers are sweaty, and on and on it goes.

Right now, if I want to meme around in snowmen, I know that I need to take control of the game first. Because the other side are going to be playing to win too.

I dunno, I guess 'unfun' is a pretty subjective term but as someone who plays both sides I find Eruption and Franklin's to be far more annoying than anything survivors bring.

The most annoying perk I see in your example is Dead Hard and while I do think it can be annoying it is fairly easy to play around.... unlike Eruption/sweaty slowdown builds. They are not particularly sweaty builds other than the DH and maybe Prove but as killer I think you want survivors to group up on gens rather than split pressure all over the map.

If you are wanting fun chilled survivors, you are sending the wrong message is about all I can say here.

Franklins? Unless you're rolling 4 stacked medkits, it's a wasted slot.

Eruption is strong, but like most things in this game the counter is coordination. DbD is not and cannot be balanced around solos.

Prove, and some of the new perks are plenty strong.

  • If there's a snowman near the hook, and you haven't seen the killer for a while, it's probably a camper.

I mean, yeah. Sure, it was BS with some Killer-Powers, but why should anyone make themselves an easy target when you lose a Health State anyway?

The only time I did it was to get the Archive-Challenge done. And even this has the risk of Killers NOT hitting the Snowmen to deny this Archive-Challenge.

IMO the Snowmen not working like last year made the event really lackluster already.

It was completely broken. The simple fact that you could use them, mid chase, to gain an extra health state was bogus.

Snowmen are excellent for stealth. Seeing savvy survivors already using them as extra lockers.

  • @InvadeGames said:

perhaps i am alone in this, but i find marking survs to be pointless and a waste of time to your detriment. And it could be that im just not good at it, but GF is probably my second best killer after wraith and have used him quite a bit.

I find that its incredibly rare to be able to sneak up on a surv and do the full marking without them noticing to get it to go off. When it does happen its nice, but unless your going against noobies, survs know to be aware and look around especially after its revealed its a gf killer. On top of that, his stealth is partly countered by his loud cloaking noise meaning its probably unlikely you'll get a very close up marking before the survs sees or hears you and moves off. To mark you have to either be still or moving at 1 mph for a hefty while when In that time that you just lost and accomplished nothing you could have used NS to go pull them off the gen or get a hit in and be right in chase where they only have 1 hit down to go anyways.

NS(plus crouch ability) is IMO is a satisfactory power that allows you to use him to dangerous effect but marking does not seem to be useful enough to justify using and or is very risky to use as far as time goes.

I do not attempt to use marking at all(granted this makes all his addons pointless) and am able to play effectively and win my games.

Do any other GF players feel the same or do you feel that marking is worth the risk/time to do so?

The trick is to '99' people - stalk them from concealment, then - when the time is right - pop shroud, mark them and down them instantly.

Like most stealth killers though, Ghosty is countered by voicechat. There's also a bug at present where certain survivor perks can aura read undetectable killers.

I'll admit I only started playing DBD recently but have heard horror stories of last year's Xmas event and how bad it was for killers.

At least I won't have to turn my heating on to start sweating for a 2k 😅

It wasn't so much that it was a big advantage for survivors (it wasn't), but events should be side agnostic.

The issue was that the snowmen were bugged.

I mean for me there are 3 things that I really hate about her:

    - Preplacing traps on loops is useless most of the time bc good squads will disarm them with flashlights or while you are in chase with someone

    - You are super slow

    - You can place a trap at a pallet but survivors will start to run away to the next pallet and you can't catch up

But its the same thing for me as survivor. I don't but not bc shes super good....shes just boring bc 90% of the ppl will camp with her.

Is there anyone enjoying her? I would like to get some advice. How can I play her like a fun killer?

Hag was my first main and probably will always be my 'go to' killer for fun.

That said, she does feel a bit outdated - especially in terms of her addons which are either 'good but boring' or 'terrible and boring'.

I play a roaming, non camping Hag with PR, Agi, M&A and STBFL. I basically just cut the map into pieces and trap the hell out of high traffic areas - she does very well outside of enormous, open maps.

  • @FMG15 said:

Like seriously. More and more people just DC if they get downed quickly even if the match is far from over. It's pissing me of whenever I play survivor and someone DC's because now the match is basically over and it's very frustrating. And people don't just DC of the killer tunnels or something like this. They just DC for anything: Whenever they get downed quickly, they get a map they dislike, they are facing a killer they hate etc.

ANd whenever I play killer and someone DC's it's unfun as well. Am I supposed to kill them knowing full well that the match is over anyway and the survivors stop fighting back? If that happens when I play killer I decide to let them have the gens and escape just to end the match quick. And they DC for any reason in my killer matches:

I played Slinger on RPD. I got a quick down and I hook that person. Then I check a gen and see another survivor. I quickly down them as well. Instantly 2 DC's. The match was not even close to be over and they already decided not to play this match.

In another match I played Billy on Garden of Joy. One survivor DC'd the moment they heard my chainsaw. Like #########?

And I don't care if your argument for DCing is that every killer tunnels and you just don't want to deal with it. Why are you playing this game in the first place them. You DCing won't make anything better and just keep in mind that you aren't allowed to DC just becaue you don't get what you want this match. You are not entitled to DC whenever you please. Just stop it!

It's very tricky. Either the game is balanced around SWF versus killer and solos suffer, or the game is balanced around solo versus killer and SWFs are nearly unstoppable.

The core issue here though isn't balance - it's that the DC penalties are weak, and it's too easy (and thus too common) to completely give up.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

    And I mean new.

I just had a match against two 30-and-up prestige survivors.. and two survivors I could tell just started playing the game. They had green perks, all general or for that one survivor, and from their gameplay I could tell they were confused and terrified.

So I feel bad for the two very good survivors who clearly got horribly mismatched and let them all go. The default Feng didn't even realize I was trying to spare her, she booked it away from me no matter how much I tried to make friends.

Anyone else spare these teams? Or if not, at least these players. I don't have it in my heart to kill new survivors, they're too adorable.

    It depends on the game.

If people are mannered and just had a rough time, I'll generally eliminate the weaker players and give the stronger player hatch, or very rarely a duo gate - especially if they had an AFK/DC.

    Any BM? No mercy.

I hesitate to let newer players escape, as it's just going to muck with their MMR and make things even worse next match. I'd rather help the rest of their team.

    Yeah, that's just normal DBD.

    Hear a Nurse? Multiple DC's.

    See a Pinhead? They're out.

    Legion? Same thing.

I saw more DC's but less hook suicides. The actual amount of games being ruined was the same.

There's a difference - at least in a suicide/AFK situation, I can get some BP. But I agree, neither are ideal.

That said, I absolutely do not believe that it's because of anything killers are doing. I see as many quitters when I play Ghostface and Plague as I do when I play Cenobite or Hag.

Solo queue is too fog damned frustrating for it to have the same disconnect penalties as killers and stomp with friends

    • Killers tunneling at 5 gens. The person being tunneled dc's. The rest of us die.
    • Killers standing next to the hook trade-camping... "Just do five 90-second gens and escape..."
    • Survivors kiting the killer into gens being worked on, whether intentional or not
    • Lethal Pursuer Huntress and I'm the one getting a near-miss hatchet at my feet 3 seconds into the match. She tunnels Feng off the hook, twice, and I try to use For the People, but Feng has ZERO clue I have the perk, and refuses to hold still while the Jill bodyblocks the Huntress. She finally stops just around a corner in front of a pallet, leaving my ass sticking out for a hatchet, but I use For the People anyway THEN, she just stands there, blocking me in place, so I have to go way around to get into the main building. She runs in too, and then cuts me off to take the window first, making me go down. I had enough.
    • 30 minutes to kill, so I'm here typing this. If Cyberpunk didn't freeze so much, I'd be playing that instead of this event that only masks the true horror that is solo queue

    Short answer: No.

    Long answer: Hell no.

I'm about the nicest, fairest killer you can imagine. I go out of my way to try and 2 hook everyone, I don't camp and I usually run flans.

I see at least 1 DC, suicide or AFK in every 2-3 matches I play.

I've given up on playing solo queue completely at present, because there's maybe a 50% chance of the first person to go down to either suicide or cable pull.

This has nothing to do with how killers play. This is something people do because A: They can and B: Because they know it's annoying.

We need strictrer DC controls, and some sort of system to ban people who suicide or AFK constantly. Because it's hard enough to find a proper game right now.

And yes - you can easily do 5 gens while trading.

The last time they disabled them I saw a DC literally every time I played for maybe 9 games in a row, sometimes as soon as the survivors saw me. I then gave up completely and came back when they were reinabled.

So, so many people abuse zero DC penalty to drop their ratings.

Op won't though without us actually seeing what's going on their screen their will always be doubt of overlays. I doubt OPs claim of a 99 win rate because of the eventuality of facing survivors that actually know what they are doing and the greater possibly of facing 3-4 man's.

The way OP is talking about they are on the levels of professional players like Otz and Supperalf which raises more issues that they don't stream or the very least have videos up on YT or Twitch to backup these claims.

Otz, even when he's being serious, does not get a 99% winrate.

Alf is skilled, but he's put 5000 hours into a killer widely accepted as being completely broken at high level play, and also running her with a specific perk set that makes her even more ridiculous.

Nobody's pushing you. We're just explaining the problems with the situation.

You've made a wild claim. The onus of proving that claim is now on you. Go ahead and do your matches with your challengers, with the conditions you've established (no Nurse, no Blight, no busted gimmicks like TSP or Condemned Onryo) but be aware that people are very suspicious and it'll be analyzed to pieces after, and absent any proofs from your side on your screen, any strange movements or reactions will probably be attributed to a wallhack.

Yeah. How dare you selfishly want to have fun in a game you bought and paid for? For shame! You should be the killer's punching bag and just shut up so they can have fun burning you with that magnifying glass!

The OP is spot on. There is a reason that the incentive bonus is nearly always +100% survivor and it's because people don't want to put up with the crap. This attitude of "shut up and be my cannon fodder" is just going to drive people out of the game.

    I've stopped playing survivor.

Not because of killers - honestly, after the BT buff, I'm seeing substantially less camping and tunneling off hook.

It's because I can barely get a decent game in. Someone always throws a sulk and either DCs or suicides the second they get downed/hooked, no matter what killer it is or how they are playing. It's a nightmare just trying to pip, and it's not fair to expect the killer to just let us farm or ease up.

I'd suspect that if there is a problem with survivor numbers, a big part of that is because of this.

I doubt it. Not only do I bring flans, but I never camp and go out of my way not to hook the same person twice in a row if I can help it. I do run Lethal Pursuer, meaning that I often get a pretty fast first down.

I'd say, maybe a third of the time it's a straight cable pull. The rest are suicides or AFKs, generally on the first hook.

He used multiple perks that he didn't have equipped, and they definitely had a stacked boon despite only CoH being equipped so...yeah. At least 2 were cheating, and as it was a full SWF, the rest were suspicious too.

Additionally he gets distracted by chat.

The same way like in tournaments where not everyone is streaming himself.

Otz takes his streaks seriously. And if we're going to include cheaters in the metrics, then this is going to get silly fast.

Tournaments have actual controls and judges.

I won't stream, but maybe someone else will be spectator and can stream my point of view. You can do that if you want.

Sigh. Okay, yet again - a spectator won't be able to say much if you're using a hack, because a lot of them are overlays.

  • @AetherBytes said:

The issue is how much control survivors really have over the game right now. Anything can happen and you're sitting there going "Is that a perk, or are they cheating?"

Running slightly faster than normal? Maybe Hope or Dark Theory.

Dead Hard perfectly? Could just be lucky/attentive.

Scratch Marks just vanish? Theres basically a wikipedia on those alone.

Gens flying? Theres so many gen speed builds.

Healing instantly? Medkits are actually OP, but could also be cheaters because theres practically no difference kek

Theres too much survivors can change with perks, This isnt a bash at survivors being too powerful (except medkits) but every move a survivor makes raises the question "Is that a cheat, a perk, skill, or pure luck?"

Mm. The really annoying thing? I'm not going to sit and record every single match just because something was weird. I can record an overt hacker, but this group was quite smart and never did anything too suspicious, so I didn't think to record it until I saw the post game screen.

BS, that's never happened on any game I've ever played against Nemesis or as Nemesis. These zombies are always in the worst ######### place at the worst ######### time.

Tell me you've never played Nemesis without saying you've never played Nemesis.

It happens at least once a game. You're just not noticing it, because a good Nemmy will generally pop the zombie off as he patrols.

    @Jungles23 said:

Nemesis's zombies are the most annoying thing in any game I've ever played, and that's not just the saltiness talking. Why the hell can zombies not only alert the killer of your location, but also prevent you from doing generators? Not to mention the fact they block off loops mid chase which is complete BS. Never in the world should any killer have NPCs to help them, they were a dumb idea to begin with. At the very least make it so we can kill zombies if they miss an attack, just like you can with Victor. Every game with Nemesis is just unfun because he can be the worst killer to ever live and still get easy downs with his zombies.

I thought this game was about trials, where you were supposed to see how well as a team you worked against a killer, meaning that the killer's ability was also being tested. How tf is it testing a killer's ability to kill when their NPCs do like 50% of the work every game? This isn't an understatement either, it's almost a free win every game unless you have some god tier survivor that loops the killer most of the time (which only works assuming he's a garbage killer and stays on them most of the game). It's nonstop BS and I'm surprised more people rant about the Nurse than this.

Also just as a side rant, when the ######### will killer lag be fixed? One guy literally teleported behind me in a chase and got a free M1 out of it. It's not my internet either, I've triple checked.

Zombies suck, unless you get the once-in-a-blue-moon POG zombie that defends a hook or gets someone mid chase. They are barely useful aside from minor disruption against any team that knows what they are doing - and flashlights hard counter them.

As for lag - it cuts both ways. There's nothing quite like trying to catch a survivor and landing multiple hits, only to have them whiff because that survivor is actually half a second in the future.

  • @JakeCannon said:

Hey killer mains, I'm just curious what is your opinion on the current state of the game? Don't compare it to what it was before July tho. Scale of 1-10

    8.

    • Solos need some love.
    • DCs and suicides, when done excessively, need to be punished harshly.
    • Vanity Mirror and other fun, meme-y addons are too difficult to sustain thanks to the prestige changes.
    • A few killers desperately need reworks and addon passes.
  • @hlambda said:

Killers still get too much value from camping. Allies are forced to trade being hooked which is basically 2 free hits for the killer. Please give survivors some way to counter this.

As others have said, do gens. Yes, it's an unfun playstyle, but if you trade smartly, you'll probably get a 4 out.

They don't play serious every match and also get stream sniped by cheaters.

Why not name someone like superalf? Oh he has 500+ win and it would burst your bubble. Sorry sorry.

He's put something like 5000 hours into Nurse, and almost exclusively plays Nurse.

Nurse is the #1 problem killer in this game right now. Not...sure what you're trying to prove here.

Otz absolutely does play seriously on his streak videos, and he's not getting a 99% winrate.

Then how do we know you aren't using a wallhack overlay?

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

If there was a way we could choose to not play against certain killers that would help but the problem is Nurses and Blights would probably never get games.

I know for me personally there is nothing worse than loading in and hearing Twins or Pinhead etc but I don't really get a choice of what match I am throw into. The choice is queue up for matches you may not want to play or simply don't play at all. Of course there are also people who will just DC no matter what and that just adds to the problem of how to make it so people don't want to DC

I'm telling you, it's not Nurse and Blight.

I see just as many DCs/AFKs/suicides when I play Ghostface or Nemesis.

Does it always do this, or only when the killer is standing on the flashbang? I think looking up never worked if the killer was too close to the flashbang?

That might be it, but people are using it to 100% prevent hooks and it's annoying.

That was a thing? I had no idea.

I just knew there was a weird bug with the new flashlights where you could blind the killer by pointing it at his feet.

Yeah there's something very wrong with flashlights right now. I got blinded from a 180 degree angle on Sadako earlier.

Not even seen a single match and already under suspicion of being a cheater. This forum is something else I swear

No, it's a pretty rational deduction.

You're boasting of kill rates that even top tier semi-pros don't have, not using busted killers or gimmicks, and challenged all comers.

    Either:

    • You're a Dead by Daylight Prodigy
    • You're bluffing and will dodge all challengers
    • You know something we don't

But we're all waiting in eager anticipation here, don't let us down!

  • @Nos37 said:

Why aim for 60% kill rate if SWF is getting 4 men out 80% of the time while solo q is lucky if 1 person gets hatch 80% of the time??

They cancel each other out and keep the kill rate near 60%, sure, but it's not fair for killers or solo q

It's...about as far as it can get, sadly. Buff solos in a meaningful way and SWF is untouchable. Buff killers and solos suffer.

What I'm really curious about though is - where are the stats from matches where no survivor suicides or goes AFK?

I mean hiding in general. Maybe if you don't work on any objectives for X amount of time you give the killer a notification of where you are.

The problem is that savvy survivors will stealth around, then work a bit on a totem (not finishing it, just doing enough not to get AFK crows) then hop back into a locker somewhere sneaky.

If you're playing Pig or something, you will never find them.

  • @Alen_Starkly said:

The solution is not to just slam the DC penalties back on, and pretend everything's right.

You should honestly take into consideration and think about WHY people DC. Find the cause and start eliminating the biggest ones.

Why do people insta-DC against Nurses and Blights? You know the answer to that, and you haven't done anything about it yet, despite the countless posts on the forums over the last several months. You can start here. Ignoring the problems is not good for the game or the players.

People DC literally because they can.

    I run flans.

    I don't camp or tunnel.

I mostly play stuff like Mirror Myers, Demogorgon, Artist, Dredge, Hag and Ghostface right now.

    I see at least 1 DC/AFK/Suicide every 2 games.

The cause is that there is no real penalty for doing this, so people do it.

Survivors only like killers that they can loop for five gens without breaking a sweat. If BHVR listened to feedback from survivors, all 28 killers would be Pig clones

I see plenty of DCs when I play Pig. It's seldom 'I don't like this killer' and more 'we don't have a massive lead and this won't be an easy game, so I'm going to keep ending matches until I get one that I can faceroll'.

    @Colton147147 said:

Killers disconnect much more than survivors.

    Absolute rubbish.

I see a killer DC/AFK maybe once in every 30 games, often because someone is cheating.

I see a survivor DC/suicide/AFK in 50 sodding percent of my matches.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/351685/3-biggest-problems-in-dbd-today

    1. Agreed. Fact is, community is too spoiled because the game always had the option to give up on hook and move on + mild dc penalties, both incentivizing the clownfiesta.
    2. Yea its rough when you wanna play with specific addons constantly, I still don't fully understand the new bloodweb tbh since I came back after a break.
    3. I don't mind tbh, ik its boring but its a valid playstyle imo.

Stalling the game out indefinitely so that the killer has to DC is not a valid playstyle.

  • I think people are trying to rule out you running some sort of broken gimmick like forced condemn Sadako which, yes, can get ridiculous kill rates but it relies on a current balance oversight rather than actual skill.

    @CoDismylife said:

Because I'm not entertaining enough to be watched. I can play games good but I'm not very talkative. I enjoy playing the game by myself.

To me not worth the hassle at the moment

We need to rule out you being a hacker, so we will need to see actual footage of your play, with an objective shot of your screen as a lot of hacks are simple overlays that won't show up in footage otherwise unless you make a mistake. Just set up a webcam behind you (you can blur your face if you want) so we can see your desk/setup and make sure you're not pulling a fast one.

Otherwise, even if you do actually go through with this (I'm doubtful), it's not going to prove a single thing.

My guess is that someone will send the footage to Otz or someone to analyze.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

We're in a CHEATING EPIDEMIC, turn it off ffs. I can't play killer without getting people speed hacking every other match.

    Sigh.

Okay, firstly, you're massively exaggerating. I've seen one overt hacker in maybe my last 50 matches, Watching streamers, it's slightly more prevalent at higher MMRs, but not by much.

Secondly - no. I see 1 DC/suicide/AFK in every 2 matches and it's one of my major frustrations with this game.

  • To be fair, I see more suicides and locker AFKs these days than DCs.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

    Dreamland, I can only assume.

I don't know if it's just me being.. me or not, but once I fall asleep and hear him coming, I feel almost guaranteed to run directly into him by accident. Everything being white and having the lullaby instead of the terror radius is really disorientating.

I generally just run for the closest safe vault, pop Lithe and head for shack or something. The only times a Freddy really gives me grief are super tight indoor maps where he can poop puddles all over the place (new RPD especially) or when he's running a lot of instadown (MYC can be very scary on Freddy).

  • @DBD78 said:

So another killer vs killer. I make this after the seeing the new stats saying Dredge has 1% higher kill rate in high MMR, while Cenobite has 2% higher kill rate overall so they are very close there. Oh well same two questions as always:

Who in your opinion would you class as the better/stronger killer of these two and why?

And which one of them is most fun to play?

    Dredge, for all the reasons.

    • Mobility
    • Incredible addons
    • Very versatile
    • A lot more intuitive to play
    • Remnant is a better anti-loop than people realize

Cenobite has the Box, which melts faces at lower MMRs and doesn't do much at higher MMRs unless you get both good and lucky at locating spawns.

About all Pinhead has going for him are fantastic perks, compared to Dredge's mediocre ones.

There will always be sore loosers. It's the same way as some killers will accuse you of gen rushing even if you bring 0 gen-speed perks and 0 toolboxes. It's just that when killer is camping, they sometimes get surprised that gens progress "that fast". Does that mean I genrushed him? Well no. He just did not apply any pressure on gens. And whatever such a killer said does not matter.

This does not mean, that there is real ambiguity what genrush means. If you bring strong toolbox and several gen-speed perks, there is no question about your playstyle. If you don't leave the hook or if you run after single survivor right of the hook (ignoring already ongoing chase and other people that go down for that survivor), there is also no question about your playstyle.

So to make it clear - do not consider genrush/camp/tunnel from people that just lost to you. They are too bitter at that moment to see what happened (and it's always your fault and not theirs). This is especially true for newer players

There is absolutely ambiguity in terms of genrush - even more so than 'proxy camping'.

What I'm saying is that terms like proxy camping or tunneling are, from what I see, used primarily out of bitterness and as an excuse for why you lost. They are not useful.

  • @neb said:

    wait... sadako is actually good?

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3230240#Comment_3230240

Oh they are a thing. Face camp is when you literally stand in front of hooked survivor (say within 8m) and looking directly only at him so that nobody is able to safely unhook him - you threaten to grab 100% of survivor's time. Proxy camp is when you opt out of patrolling gens and instead wait for some survivor to come to you and yet you are not close enough to face camp. There are some exception to the rule, but this covers virtually all cases.

For tunnel if you want clear cut - going after the survivor that was last unhooked (just 1 last survivor). If you are willing to accept looser definition, then going for a freshly unhooked survivor without giving him any option to hide or heal himself (or survivor opting to be "fair game" by doing gens or blocking hits - i mean it's still technically a tunneling, but it's like endgame tunnel. Nobody should be mad about it).

I think most people will agree to some degree with this. There will be some fine differences (some people don't even distinguish between tunneling and tunnel-visioning one survivor), but generally speaking this is it

Except that, no - I get accused of proxy camping constantly. If I chase someone who I find while walking away from the hook - PROXY CAMPER RAGERAGE. If I chase someone to the hook, same thing.

I get accused of tunneling even more. And I'll make a point of not chasing the unhooked person or even hooking the same person twice in a row, unless they are literally running into me.

Clearly, this is not a definition that is universally or even widely accepted.
