I find it funny you keep accusing others of straw manning when they add simple describing words like "accurately" to your suggestion that Empathy allows for you to guess when someone goes down which you in turn makes it sound like they want it to work 100% of the time.
You know, an actual straw man argument.
Yes. Because I never said or implied any sort of 'accurately'. It's most definitely a strawman, as now I have to shift back to explaining what I said. Over and over again.

Yeah, probably for the best. Because I'm wasting time talking to a rock when I could be doing something (anything) more productive.

Excuse me, didn't you state that "AFAIR most people play in SWF" and I proved you wrong, where are your stats from, I provided where my statement derives from but it seems you... completely made something up to help your argument, yes?
What are you talking about "If I could 100% of the time then the perk would be useless" no no, I want to see you run empathy or bond and call out every time the survivor is going to go down as you're saying this is possible essentially.
Again, I didn't strawman anything, you said empathy and bond will help you know when someone is about to go down (it literally won't, lmao) so no strawmanning.
"Splitting hairs" is a funny way of telling me that I'm right and you're wrong and you have no way to prove your "stats" despite demanding mine.
The stats are from Peanits, of course, unlike yourself, I don't make things up to benefit my argument.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/1067386/#Comment_1067386
AFAIR. Not a conclusive statement of fact. Tentative. Which is why I asked for clarification. And I wasn't far off - and if you really want to stick on this one, I'd wager dollars to donuts that if you clipped off the bottom 20% MMR, it would look very different. Because I see an obvious duo, at least, maybe 2 in 3 games if I'm playing my better killers.
Although I suppose I should be grateful that you've shifted from strawmanning to petty point-scoring.
Oh wait - nope, there's the strawmanning again. For the...third? Fourth? time now, I'm saying that the counter to Eruption is letting go before someone gets downed. This will be a judgement call. Empathy, Bond and similar allow you to make this call more accurately. Not *perfectly accurately 100% of the time* because that would be silly. And you're the only one saying that.
HELP you. Not guarantee you.
Sigh.
Not sure how much clearer I can be here.
It makes it more likely. I run Emp pretty much baseline, and I can definitely say it *helps* me deal with Eruption, when it's in play (maybe 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 games). Sometimes I get unlucky, or make a mistake (I'm not the best survivor in the world, by any means) but I'd say I can avoid it at least half the time if I'm attentive.
The other counter to Eruption is just not getting downed too often - in which case it does absolutely sod all. Which is why I don't run it much, as it's a 'win more' perk that can be a wasted slot if you find yourself outclassed, while stuff like CoB is a lot more reliable.

"That's most of the game, mate" What are you actually talking about? Guessing when someone might go down based on an... aura is not a "judgement call" it's absolutely pure guesswork, there is no "judgement" involved because seeing a survivors aura isn't even close to enough information to make a judgement call on when they're going down. I would love to watch you play and see you accurately guess when every survivor is going to go down.
And a duo isn't any better than a solo anyway as there are still two other survivors that can go down without communication, and the only stats they've ever given us on SWF numbers is this
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QIL3K4BZ3B0I/image.png
How about you tell me where you're getting YOUR numbers from.
It's absolutely not pure guesswork. You can see the aura, and if you know roughly what they're doing (looping, dropping a pallet, using an Ex etc.) you can make some decisions.
Never said 'accurately'. If I could, 100% of the time - then the perk would be useless.
...Why do you insist on strawmanning literally everything I say?
And ah, it's a splitting of hairs there. About half play solo, and about half play in SWFs. I'd also guess that it becomes more SWF prevalent at higher MMRs. When are those stats from?
@Omans said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3292867#Comment_3292867
The last time they released survivor stats solo was over 50 percent, duo a fair bit lower than 50, 3 and 4 players in a group quite a bit lower than that. But I guess you play against 4-man SWF every game even though top killers like me don't see them as much as some of the players who only play killer only these forums suggest they do.
Your take on Eruption is so detached from how Eruption is actually affecting games.
There is a 0 percent chance it won't be toned down. It is not if, but when, with these devs. They take a long time to fix things. Posters like you suggesting there isn't an issue at all will look awfully silly when the change goes through. Although, by that point I'm sure you'd have been gifted numerous wins as killer you shouldn't have won just by using Eruption. Cheers.
Over 50%...by a hair. Taking all MMRs into account, from what I'm seeing.
...And again, it's quite indicative of something that everything I'm saying is getting strawmanned (if you have an argument beyond 'this thing gives me the butt pains' you generally don't need to resort to it).
Will Eruption be toned down? Probably. There has always been a clear difference in how survivor perks are treated balance wise compared to killer perks (how long was DH a 70%+ pick rate at higher MMRs, completely untouched?) and sadly people have learned that whatever the meta is, needs to be kvetched about as if it were the most OP broken thing EVAR until it gets nerfed, before moving onto whatever replaces it.
Hopefully it doesn't get the Thana treatment and become useless. Just make it fall off the gen at 0%, which is what I and others have been suggesting.
But let's be real here. It won't be enough. You can go and watch some Otz games where, even with Eruption, he gets completely pantsed on Wesker or Sadako. This isn't an 'I Win' button.
At a certain point, it's not about balance. This isn't Boil Over making people literally unhookable. This is the current incarnation of the 'whatever the killer meta at present is, is OP' thing.
18% is nothing.

Neither of these do anything at all?
lmao you're kidding right? I've literally seen survivor do the pallet drop animation with empathy and then go down due to the connection, your idea of "counter" is guessing, you must have been a spirit main in a past life.
Most people used to play solo, the only reason it isn't like that anymore is because of things like this.
Uh...that's most of the game, mate. Judgement calls. Educated guesswork. Yes, there will be times when you get it wrong, or get unlucky - but what are you after here? If you could counter a perk 100% of the time reliably, that perk would be useless.
But okay. Let me try to explain.
There are 2 matchups in this game. Solo versus Killer and SWF versus killer.
If the game is balanced around solo, then SWFs can be outright unbeatable. So you need to balance around SWFs.
Also - nope. AFAIR, more than 50% of people play at least in duos. Where are you getting the 'most people played solo' stat from, exactly?

I'm 90% solo, please enlighten us on the counterplay.
Wait, aren't you the person that implied you can "just see them if they are about to go down" as if the entire game is on some 30 square meter empty field?
This game is not, cannot be and should not be balanced around solo players. If BHVR want to give solos some information that would be cool - but the current balance philosophy revolves around the SWF/Killer matchup.
And yes - use perks like Empathy or Bond to give you an idea of what someone is doing in chase, and you can often make a judgement call on when to let go.

If they start paying their players, then they could "punish" players for not contributing, but they don't - and their not gonna, that would be dumb.
It's a video game, and this whole "Everyone needs to play my way so MY fun criteria is met!" logic is childish. It's a video game, and not even a competitive one, people are going to go into a match under the expectation they are going to have fun, and when they don't - you can't force them to continue playing. They've added DC penalties, and then players found other ways to quit the game - be it suiciding on hook, sabotaging the game, or simply going AFK. Hell some just take the DC penalty, 5-15 minutes isn't that big of a deal with they can just do something else for that time.
You can't force players to play a game they don't want to play, and if players are not enjoying the game - the game needs to improve, forcing players to play instead will just make the community more toxic, and both will push players away.
They are coming out with bots. I wouldn't be surprised if when bots come in the game DC penalties are removed. It would be even better that they set it up so when someone dc's from the game the players in the game don't get any kind of notification. They won't even know they are facing a bot other then the characters playstyle suddenly changes.
Play your way? Sure.
Refuse to play and deliberately waste the time of 4 other people? If that's your definition of 'fun' then hell no.
These are people the game is better off without.

@BougieBlackChick said:
Are there any plans to stop punishing players for DCs and AFK killers?
I talked about this issue when fellow survivors DC from the match, but I just had an AFK killer. Obviously all we could do was do gens, then I cleansed a few totems, opened chests and opened an exit gate to leave.
I depipped. This happens when other survs DC too. I had a game where two survs DCed almost immediately and one killed themselves on hook. Because I couldn’t do anything that whole match and I died I depipped.
How is it fair for that or an AFK killer to drop our pips when we can’t do anything to get chase or altruism points? I’m not asking for free pips here but shouldn’t we at least get a safety pip out of it? This seems really unfair towards players who are actually trying to play the game.
DCers, AFKers, people who refuse to play the game and instead stealth the entire match while avoiding crows to be annoying.
Once we have bots, there needs to be a timer to replace inactive or non-participating players.

Many are calling for Eruption nerfs out of a knee-jerk reaction, but I support BHVR taking their usual wait and see approach on this. For instance, Dead Hard was also 'uncounterable' when used for distance, but was unchanged for 1819 days. I think Eruption should also be given about the same, small amount of time, about 5 years in this state to see if it's really that bad.
I mean, it's performing very well and is pretty fun to verse and play as long as they aren't doing the boring genrush cheese. It's got insane value and rewards good chases, pretty decent slowdown without being OP or oppressive with how you need to go around kicking first, crazy perk synergy with COB, Aura read on gen kick, overcharge and other gen perks, and even has a passive incapacitated mechanic that if not handled makes it able to keep a 99% done gen at bay for a while! It's amazingly useful and although it's a bit weaker when against the mythical 4 man tournament SWF that nobody ever sees, on almost all levels of play it's more than just okay, it's actually pretty dang strong! Even at high MMR (top 5%!) it's still one of the best perks statistically. And this is just anecdotal, but Eruption killers seem to do pretty well in my games.
I don't mean to be inflammatory, but part of me wonders if the reason why survivor mains are so negative about it, saying it's game-breaking even, is just that they're used to mindlessly holding m1 and using second chance perks that practically win the chase for them or ignore key aspects of gameplay, such as Dead Hard, Off the Record, Decisive Strike, etc. Eruption actually requires skill to do well with as it is entirely macro game and relies on good game sense on when to kick gens and on quick chases. If you're used to burning gens with Prove Thyself without paying attention of course you won't do well with it, but with practice, I think it's WAY more counterable than people give it credit for. And way more healthy and fun for the game than the old meta of Ruin Undying.
What do you think? Are survivors being too harsh? Or does the regression itself being meh really overshadow the incapacitated? All I'm saying is that I see why they're being careful before any changes to it are made, if they're even needed. I think they should let the perk as it stands sit for a while.
Eruption is fine.
SWFs can easily work around it.

I think I stated it pretty clearly: if you're going to remove the ability for a player to play the game, it should involve some kind of counter play. Most things in the game already do this because they involve interacting with another player: hooks, pallet and flashlight stuns, victor pouncing you, as examples.
There are some other things that can remove you from play that aren't directly interactable, usually things like killer powers. So Pinheads chain hunt, trapper traps, and pig reverse bear traps aren't directly interacting with a player, but these also have counter play and/or telegraphs. Even things like oppression don't trigger until you hit a skill check, which by default has a notification sound.
Incapacitated is inflicted by Pinheads chain hunt, victor pounce, and eruption. Eruption is the exception to this currently, where a player can be removed from normal gameplay without interacting with the killer or killer's power at all, and without a way to play around that.
Eruption is the outlier and the problem currently. And the example is there solely to reiterate how OP this effect is. If the "survivor version" is OP, then so is eruption, by your own admission.
There is counterplay.

The game can easily be balanced around SoloQs and SWFs. They could give SoloQs some information that they wouldn't give to SWFs. Saying it can't be done is patently false. BHVR just chooses not to and leaves SoloQs to fend for themselves, lost and alone.
I run Bond as a SoloQ and even seeing the chased survivor's aura is not a significant help. Even if a survivor is staying off the gen to try to counter Eruption, the killer is still getting a disgusting amount of value from it. That's why I don't hesitate to call it OP, because every form of counterplay it has is awful.
An 18% doesn't mean 'this fits into the game well.' There are ~100 killer perks so seeing a perk in 1 in every 5 or games is way higher than the 1 in ~25 game average across all killer perks.
I want to see the game actually be balanced and not just have them change the meta.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3292157#Comment_3292157
I don't know how you can defend this new meta.
It's not that survivor is harder than it was before 6.1.0, it's that it's just not fun or interactive. The least fun aspects of DbD (hook-camping, tunneling and 3genning) have been made even more prominent while the most fun aspects of DbD (chases, interactions with other players) have been made less prominent.
Survivors are doing something. They are choosing not to play DbD.
Okay, first - no, they can't. At best, you could give solos some more information (what ever happened to those status icons?) but information is not coordination, and coordination is the problem.
Bond is also counterplay. It's going to be a judgement call either way. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking for here - a perk that is easy to reliably counter is a bad perk.
18% isn't that much. Keep in mind, we had a perk with a 70%+ pick rate at higher MMRs be overpowered for years, and even post-nerf it's really good.
There is no such thing as 'balanced' in an APVP game. You can improve the balance, but you'll never have perfect parity.
The new meta...what? Dude, it has never been harder to camp and tunnel, with baseline BT and speed boost, OTR, Solidarity etc. You definitely still see the odd camping Bubba (this killer needs a rework) or someone who wants to play the unhook/grab dance game, but that hasn't been changed at all. On the other hand, it's a million times easier to trade against a Hag or a Nurse.
I play both roles, pretty evenly and it's a lot more chase focused on survivor, at least at the intermediate MMR I (probably) play at. I also see a much wider variety of perks on either side - killer isn't just PR, BBQ, DMS, Tink - you'll see Eruption, Surge, CoB, OC, PR...about the only regression perk I don't see much of now is Pop. I also see NTH, STBFL, Agi, Plaything/Penti (although less of this these days), LP, Discordance, IAE and others.
On the survivor end of things, I see Lithe, DH, SB and even the occasional BL. I also see a lot more team focused perks - Bond, Emp etc.
Are you sure you're not engaging in a bit of confirmation bias?

It's a system that picks up on toxicity in chat mostly. Old Tribunal had human judges if I am not wrong, so you could get chat restricted for saying certain words, but also avoid ban for a while if you were intentionally feeding, which for many people is a bigger offense but an automated system cannot pick up. Still, that might be true for the NA server because in EU, it hardly has any effect. People can still call you the r word or other stuff and I don't think reports are taken seriously. There's just a lot of bickering and more slurs on EU but in NA I think (as a bystander, since I don't play on NA) there's a lot more passive-aggressiveness.
I played on NA, and the days of the player Tribunal were amazing. There was still toxicity, but before and after were night and day.

Holy...the Tribunal has been gone since 2014... I dunno what server you were playing but EU is as toxic as ever (had been worse before the separation). People running it mid or AFKing is more annoying and tilting than being toxic imo.
The thing is 2 survivors cannot turn a game with 3 gens still un-repaired. A killer with a few hooks though, is significantly stronger at the end game because there are usually no resources left anymore. Definitely end - game perks make a turn around more possible, but when survivors bring end-game perks they might never make use of them. A hatch win isn't a real win though because there is no MMR increase, it's at most neutral.
Most of the time people I get matched with cannot chat because I have crossplay on. As for people dodging, the people who care about winning already do it if they see low prestige. But most don't care. Now the questions is, how much dodging would increase. People who already dodge will dodge regardless and I think they kind of should have the right with the matchmaking being as bad as it is atm. If it worked significantly better, dodging would be harder to defend.
Is it? I think the Tribunal was switched to an automated Tribunal, right?

I'm not sure I catch your meaning (admittedly I should have gone to bed long ago).
What I meant with "nice" is that the event has both killers who wanna do the event or maybe have fun and killers who wanna sweat and they don't care about it. So the addition of a special event would be to separate the tryhards from the casuals who just wanna see what it is all about.
And also change the objectives so that the game can be played in a significantly different way. Like imagine not being thrown out of a game as a survivor or as a killer not fearing gens or something.
Ah. See, I don't count 'not playing to win' as 'being nice'.
To me, being nice is generally about not slugging, camping or tunneling unless it's that or lose the game right there.
What I'll generally do is go hard from the start, get a few people on their death hook and if I'm crushing, then I'll ease up and meme with folks. Because if I don't, and I go softly from the start, the second I run into a team that wants to play seriously, it's going to be a bad game.
Splitting the queues into 'casual' and 'serious' has never worked in any game I've seen it tried in. Actually, it can make the problem worse, as you're basically saying to the 'serious' players that there's now this amazing queue for easier matches.

Survivors also get punished over small mistakes. You could do all the gens and killer has 1 or 2 hooks in and come out with 3 kills because of misplay during the last 2 mins. Let's not include all the times you may be making the right decisions but a teammate refusing to take pressure on them.
If anything it feels to me like killer has more chances to affect the game even after gens are done especially if pallets have been used and there are little to none left. Survivors have no such power when they are doing bad because it's easier for killer to defend his advantage, like if 2 survivors are left with 3 gens. There's no way to come out a winner as a survivor team, at most a draw or a only one making it out.
You cannot always punish mistakes in League because there are so many variables. Your lane opponent could be inferior to you but because the enemy jungler is always there you cannot capitalize on it. Or you might be doing fine yourself but enemy toplaner got fed and is snowballing now. Certain roles and champs do have more agency in solo but this does not exist in DBD for survivors. In League you also have the clock-ticking, with certain champs becoming a lot stronger as the game goes on and others growing weaker meanwhile and winning or losing can sometimes be determined by only one mistake from one of your teammates. The thing is that over the years League has implemented more comeback mechanics. Back in the day if certain champs snowballed they could 1v5 the team on their own, but Riot did not like that and changed it and there's way less snowball potential than in the past.
But hey, when I go in League and play I know what champs my team is playing and what summoners they are bringing as well as their role in the team, in DBD I don't have that luxury except for seeing the items. The survivor they play tells me nothing about the intentions of the person behind the survivor or what they are trying to do.
Ranked LoL also gives heart attacks and if you are not trying people will flame you for trolling. Same can happen in normal mode which is more casual and even in more casual modes like ARAM. Heck, even many ARAM games I play have been lasting like 30 mins or more lately, that's how tryhard people are in LoL even on casual mode and sometimes if I see myself getting tilted or annoyed I decide to take a break. I cannot play as much League as I used to (it's way too time-consumming and I've been playing it for a really long time) and of course I don't derive the same joy as I used to the first month - year I was playing it. It's only natural after all.
Well...yes. The killer is 1 person. There are 4 survivors. The individual killer has more power to shape the game than an individual survivor.
LoL is not even slightly comparable, as that's a 5v5 Moba, and this is an APvP hide and seek game.
Both sides are absolutely able to turn a bad game around - but, because they are a team, the survivors will need teamwork to do it.
A win for a survivor is escaping. A win for a team of survivors is a 3 out. 2k is a draw. 3k is a killer win.
I'd say, of the two roles, survivor is the more snowbally. One bad chase and you sometimes just cannot kill them fast enough to prevent gens being done. Some killers/perk combos can snowball, but those are the exception.
LoL can definitely be toxic, but the last time I played, the Tribunal had basically cut down on that by 90%.
You can actually chat with your team in pregame. I do it frequently, mostly to make sure we don't have 4 Kindreds. Being able to see people's loadouts in the lobby is an interesting idea, but I worry that it's just going to mean everyone dodging anyone who isn't running meta.
-
@JustAnotherNewbie said:
I just can't call tryharding toxic. You simply have different expectations of the game.
Maybe in the future the devs can add an extra mode for the events so people can go and chill and maybe even create new objectives that lead to wins. Or heck, maybe both sides win if they have certain interactions. Currently the game offers no incentive to be nice.
Shrug. I'm nice, until you BM me.
The incentive is not only personal satisfaction in making the game fun for everyone, but you'll also get asked to join groups.

This is incredibly true unfortunately. You either play without teleports and get pooped on, or you place teleports and get pooped on faster lol
I mean, I still love him. Some fun addons, a decent kit.
What annoys me though is that shred is janky, fiddly and ridiculously punishing on a miss compared to more recent, similar stuff. It can be so finnicky to land, and it's not that strong a gap closer/anti-loop. If they just took half a second off missed shreds or wall hits, he'd be a million times better.
It's a pity, because - especially for an older killer - he's got a ton of depth and nuance to him, and I adore his portals (you can basically defend a 4gen anywhere on the map).

anyways you do make a lot of good points and that's the main problem with the game, both sides forcing each other to tryharding creating limbo of tryharding
I see plenty of people having fun.
The problem is that going in to meme around does not guarantee the other side will do the same.

Eruption is fine against SWF. If you nerf it for the sake of solos, it's going to be Thana all over again. Finally good, then useless.
About the only change I'd make is having it run out when a gen hits 0.

Why are people being toxic during this event? Wanted to do a game session with my friends, we are not toxic or anything.. But are getting super try-hardy killers that are being bad sports about the snowmen, and slugging at 5 gens.. No chance to explore or have fun with the event whatsoever.
I'm not making this a killer vs survivor issue as im sure there are survivors like it too.. But why?.. This event is so horrible.

I think what you're also seeing is people who haven't played in ages coming back.
There is definitely some sort of MMR decay. I faced really easy survivors when I returned recently, for a while.

I know people often are annoyed when people say to nerf the new killer 'because they don't know how to play against them yet' and while I feel that sometimes rings true, this is b.s.
Throughout all the games I have played against the Knight (maybe a dozen in total) there is not a single killer who exploits the game more than him. Blame it on the community, blame it on the individual killer all you want, but the developers LET this happen, and they're not going to care to fix it.
I've played killer, I've played survivor, I can tell you for a fact it is a killer-oriented game. That's not too big of a problem though, the win rate shouldn't be 50-50 and should be more 20-80 in favour of the killers, I'm not disagreeing. But I have not once won against the knight unless they are giving the game to the survivors once.
The main reason? Not skill. Not because the survivors are bad. The knight's are CONSTANTLY camping/tunnelling/slugging/any other exploit they can get away with. Even twice in the matter of 3 games in one night, the Knight has put someone on the hook, camped and used his green sphere to find others while staying put. Done this to every survivor.
What I hate is that the green sphere with the additional knight has no boundaries. Unless you have a few specific perks, you can't outrun it, you can't pull pallets down, you are 100% going to be hit. And the killer can just repeatedly do this while camping the person on the hook. If anyone goes for this person, they have to look out for the knight and his little buddies he sends. Over and over and over again. I'm not kidding when I say it has exclusively been a knight problem, the exploits are so easy to get away with with him, and that's why it's so abused. It's the least fun I've had playing, where you go on the hook once and you might as well not bother to get anyone on the hook either, because you're dead. Even when I think of how to counter him and this method of play, there's nothing. I'm not going to bother going for players on the hook now when I play against the knight because it is every game. The knight needs a nerf cause I'm not even sure I care to play against him. It'd be different if they played the game properly, but the knight is so clearly the biggest 'toxic and exploiting' killer that he is the easiest go-to of any toxic player, and that's the problem.
Sigh.
Okay, I'm not sure what I just read, but let's have a go.
- This is not a 'killer oriented' game.
- Slugging, camping and tunneling are not exploits.
- Camping and tunneling have never been less rewarding than they are now.
- The knight is mediocre at both.
- There is no reason a knight's summons should be effective at all at what you're describing.
- 2 games in 3 is not any sort of sample size.
- Slugging is scheduled for a change.
- Knight is not a good killer overall.
- If you're really struggling with knights doing this, grab a team. There are tons on the BHVR Discord looking for people.

The prestige rework actually killed Myers for me.

Doctor - he's my easy BP killer. Get a bunch without having to kill anyone. Plus I enjoy making survivors scream.
Trapper - I like the snap sound of catching survivors in my traps and finding random places to catch them. When I can find places where survivors step in one trap, free themselves only to step in a second in brings me joy and makes me laugh.
Ghostface - I like finding a place to hide and mark survivors. Love watching them scurry away paranoid about where I am. When they finally think I'm just marking and won't down them I'll pop out and hit them. Then go back to watching them be paranoid anytime I mark them.
I really mostly just goof off as killer.
Doctor and I have an odd relationship. Bought him soon after I started, played a lot of him over the years but at some point I think I hit a certain MMR and just stopped having fun.
Every now and then I'll go 'why not play Doctor? I've got some neat skins from events on him, he's got some cool powers - why did I stop playing him?'.
So I'll queue up on him, and 5 minutes later I go 'NOW I REMEMBER'.

Similar names like Yin/Yang sure I can see that, I’m a little iffy on the steam friends, I play on console and have a ton of in game friends gathered over the years, and don’t really play with them and probably wouldn’t know it if we landed in the same game, but the drop in all at once happens in solo Q quite often, and it is definitely not a reflection of a SWF
I guess - a better question: following your logic, what makes you sure you aren't playing against SWFs?

Probably did the equivalent to locker hopping to avoid crows and would've done that even if there wasn't an event. You only get like 100 event BP from jumping in snowmen and it caps at maybe 5 times? After that you don't get anymore event BP from jumping in them.
The only 2 killers I had that goofed off in snowmen were Weskers. One did it the entire match and refused to 2 hook me even though I offered. The other decided to let me live and goofed off in snowman for a bit after killing my teammates. Rest of the killers seemed angry there was an event.
I do my usual thing. Take control of the game, then goof around trying to ambush people in snowmen.

Curious as to why you believe you face a 2-3 man SWF on more than half your games?
It's generally obvious - often two people with similar names, playing the same survivor, or have each other on Steam friends. You can tell a 3-4man by the fact that they all drop into the lobby at the same time.

Yes. More Killers are testing it out after the Hens video.
I did myself today. It's completely possible to hold games hostage for an hour. It's not even really hard.
That's worth a report then.

@SmarulKusia said:
Is throwing the game and holding it hostage.
Please stop it. I've had 3 games today where killers ran oppressive anti-gen perks and camped a three gen with absolutely no desire to secure any downs (two survivors were dead on hook, and at times injured trying to fix the gens).
Are you sure they weren't just playing defensive?
That said - yes, it sucks. I've had a rash of survivors going AFK and somehow using snowmen to avoid getting crows, stalling the game out for ages. I wish this sort of thing didn't happen on either end.

Every match you play you aren’t playing a SWF. I’d bet that you don’t face a SWF but every 1-10 matches if not 1-20.
Nope. A full 4man - maybe 1 in 12. A 2 or 3 man? I'd say at least half my games, probably more.

I’m talking 4 man squads. I don’t think I’d consider a 2 man on comms or a 3 man no comms a SWF, just some people who met each in the game, and play together sometimes. I’ve played those, and didn’t really feel advantageous. I’ve just been playing Solo q today and received some much crap from killers post game calling out SWF this and SWF that, I mean jeez, there was no SWF and that killer tunneled and camped their way to a 3-4K. I guess I’m just curious at what point does a killer think he’s facing a SWF? Because a Gen is finished quick? Does that activate camp and tunnel mode? Just curious.
A SWF - people playing together. Nothing about SWF definitionally requires it to be a 4man.
Even a 3man SWF is miles stronger than a 2man.

Sadako
Nemesis
Pinhead
What do they have in common? They're premium killers with some of the best generator regression from the 6.0 update that are unfairly locked behind a year+ lockout.
Pinhead was released on 7 September 2021
Deadlock has appeared in the shrine 0 times since then.
Nemesis was released on 15 June 2021
Eruption has appeared in the shrine 0 times since then.
Sadako was released on 8 March 2022
The odds that Call of Brine appears in the shrine before March 8, 2022 is likely to be 100% because the "random" system is not in fact random.
Please take all the "free" perks out of the shrine. The only reason they exist is to "water down" the chance of the premium perks from appearing in the shrine.
Eh...
On one hand - I don't like it.
On the other hand, a killer costs less than a burger and fries, and they even throw a survivor in with it.

The devs make changes based on data. Any changes to Blight will come from that. People who main particular killers, as in playing them consistently over long periods of time, will master that killer. Blight absolutely is one of the stronger killers, and I agree his adds on need looking at, but imo there should always be a range of killers with varying degrees of difficulties and varied learning curves. If someone puts in the time to master a killer - regardless of their 'moral compass' - then yeah they're gonna win a lot of matches.
I'm not sure why the OP is getting bites like this.
95% is absurd, and from the rest of the post, the OP clearly has an axe to grind.
The only killer I can name with a winrate around that is a guy who does nothing but play a completely stacked Nurse, game in game out and has been doing this for...I think about a year?
-
@Audiophile said:
Post 4k slaughter by a Blight I noticed they were a streamer so I went into their channel for a chat. In short they acknowledged:
- Winning 95% of their matches
- That matchmaking is broken
- That Blight is broken (though they said it was only certain addons which I disagree with since, as they said, they win 95% of the time with or without those addons)
They said they play Blight because they have fun playing Blight, not because he’s broken or wins all the time.
So… they do something they know is unsportsmanlike and unfair just because they are allowed to and THEY have fun. Regardless of all the people they make NOT have fun because the killer and game are clearly broken. This is a pretty common argument amongst killers in this game. But here’s what this is also saying - they have no moral compass of their own to stop them from doing something wrong. The system they are playing in says it’s ok so they will go along with that since it allows them to do what they enjoy.
Does anyone not see what’s wrong here? Not see the obvious philosophical issue? People who allow themselves to go along with corrupt / broken systems are not free from responsibility. Especially when you’re not forced to go along with it. If you continue to play broken killers and don’t take steps to just play a fair game, you’re the problem. You can’t just blame the game and the unfair system. You have the freedom to make the game more fair by not playing the strongest killers and builds in the game and using the cheapest, easiest tactics. This is why survivors get angry at this game and killers. This is why the DCs and quits. It’s not just saltiness. It’s a complete lack of fairness and an abrogation of responsibility of both killers and BHVR. We want to play fair games, that’s all.
Sorry, but either he is a 15,000 hour god of DbD, he was shining you on or you're exaggerating.
What exactly did he do that justifies you calling him literally evil IRL?
Speaking in terms of 'corrupt and broken systems' in relation to a silly horror videogame is a little ridiculous.
Yes, this game can be infuriating sometimes, and there are some things that should be tweaked balance wise, but a wall of hyperbole like this isn't feedback. It's just kvetching.

Well for my first impression I got hit with this loading screen:

I usually play on low settings to keep the game brighter despite having a worthy PC and this is the first time I ever got a pixel-vomit loading screen. I turned it up to medium to fix this.
After getting into the game it's about what I expected. I want to say it's disappointing but it really isn't, it's exactly what I expected at least appearance-wise.
Gameplay-wise, it actually is disappointing. The snowmen literally are nothing but hiding places and almost completely useless for survivors. They just enable killers to camp with free stealth.
Last year they were original and more fun. And certain killers could outplay the free hit they offered survivors.
Cool we got an Event Tome... where are the fun community challenges?
P.S. They should really just disable the matchmaking incentives at this point since they don't work for me at all despite always being displayed. They are a straight up lie.
I was fine with the extra healthstate snowmen, it was that it completely borked certain killers' powers.
That said, being able to cram a size 12 Nemesis into a size 5 snowman and burst out on people will never not be amazing.

Oh man, I once got all 4 survivors at the same time with the hands add on, and this one time I saw two survivors hop on a Gen with lethal and I staggered my birds in a straight line right at them. The first birds hit and the survivor spread the birds to the other survivor, the second birds hit damaging the first survivor who moved, and the third birds hit damaging the second survivor who had moved in the way…. It was so glorious and satisfying, I could have ended the game there and been happy.

Every single game I’ve played today (7 total) the killers have had Eruption/Call of Brine/Overcharge and Nowhere to Hide/Jolt. Those matches have had almost 0 chase. The killer identifies a 3 Gen, and can just lock it down without even playing, just randomly getting hits, and running back to guard duty. Every game has lasted upwards of 30 minutes or more, with one game lasting almost an hour. I have dumped all other builds for a build I now use almost every match. Sole Survivor/Wake Up/Left Behind, then maybe an exhaustion perk, but really there isn’t a reason for an exhaustion perk because there aren’t any chases. Worst games ever. Hopefully they nerf that crap gameplay like they did Thana when they buffed it to much.
You mean...basically remove the perk from the game?
That's not a good way to fix anything.

Camping has never been less rewarding than it is now.
That said - when I first started out, I was a camper. Because it's a tactic that makes sense and yields results.
Not everyone knows that it goes against the game's 'etiquette' and with how toxic people in this game can be, it generally just comes over as 'I lost' salt.
That said, with baseline BT and speed, you should be able to out-trade a PH. The only campers that are nearly impossible to counter are Bubba and maybe Ghosty.

With any regression perk, there will always be complaints about it. Back then it was PGTW, Which only effected one generator mind you, and you had to kick a gen within 45 seconds. Curiously though, Eruption still did it's effects before the meta shake up, though at a lower incapacitate duration, yet you heard no complaints about it pre meta shake up, you only now hear about it because it's essentially taken PGTW's place.
Bingo.
There are, and have been perks/items that are completely, brokenly OP or just so unfun to play against that they may as well have been (prenerf OoO, DH, post buff Thana and BO, keys, moris) but with a few minor outliers, this game isn't bad balance wise now.
I'd much rather see bad perks be improved or reworked at this point.
@RainehDaze said:
It's funny how many suggestions about nerfing eruption's timer want to make it worse than the pre-buff eruption.
(I'm also not sure PR is fine; it has better regression than Jolt, but it's now finicky to activate, has limited uses per-match, and is most likely to only add ~10s to the gen that's already being worked on, which often barely covers getting to said gen if you know where it is. I feel like it's only used that much because the number of consistent options has steadily been whittled down.)
PR was good because of the way it synergized with DMS and because it gave info. It's still very good with DMS, and pretty mediocre without due to the removal of the info aspect. I still use it on slower/setup killers as I need the time, but exclusively with DMS.
Right now though, we're back in a kicky meta. And that's fine. People complained endlessly about PR too back when it was meta.
