I guess the reports are working if you report a super toxic dude after a match in DBD itself, but I've noticed that most of them don't write a thing and add people to Steam in order to threaten/spam personal messages in Steam.
The ban policy literally says that "what's happening outside of DBD is supposed to be reported to that platform". The problem is that Steam doesn't even care about punishing players for death threats, nationalism and other forms of harassment. And the real fact is that some gaming companies actually do care about what their players do/say outside of the game even if it's remotevely connected to the gaming community itself.
So, what to do if a person evades post-match lobby but starts harassing personally about specific game/match. Because reporting to BHVR is pointless according to their ban policy.
Yup.
DbD was the game that made me private my Steam profile - at least twice a day, I'd have someone scrawling something nasty on my Steam wall. The nadir was when I managed to beat a moderately sized TTV (I was on Hag, and more accurately they beat themselves trying to show off), and they sent their viewers to spam me.
They did get a temporary Twitch ban, but after that - nope.
Of course, until they added Anonymous mode, I'd get people trying to friend me to cuss me out - which was annoying, as I also had folks friend me to play SWF.

Try dropping Horse Meat and using Call to Arms. It makes path drawing 25% faster and IMO it should be either partially or fully basekit for how much better he feels when using it, especially like how you're trying to use him. Don't listen to people saying to only camp with him. He's got a high skill ceiling despite his skill floor being fairly low. I've been in love with that add-on since the PTB and I'd rather not take it off.
I second Gwinty's advice and I'd like to add that you can try to follow a survivor in your spirit form to drop the guard on top of them. You can see pools of blood and hear breathing so perks like Sloppy, Stridor, and Bloodhound help with this sort of tracking. You may need to aim slightly ahead of them due to the detection radius taking a second to expand. It's not universally applicable, but it's a good tactic to sandwich/cut off a survivor and secure a hit earlier than you otherwise would using your power.
FYI Horsemeat is pretty overrated and mostly serves a camp/patrol-heavy playstyle where the hunted survivor can't necessarily reach the standard. It's not bad and helps during prolonged chases, but it's not his best.
Hmm. I tried something like this when I started out on him, and what I generally see is survivors immediately turn and run away at right angles to the orb. Sometimes I'll get a chase, but more often they head for main building or somewhere they can run me indefinitely and I'll just lose ground.
The only time my summons ever get a hit is when a survivor is a bit overconfident and tries for a save when I've got a guard up.

Putting a qualifying word infront of the Word 'Camping' isnt rocket science tho and ye, they are both camping.
Just a specific type of camping. it isnt hard to understand.
Shrug. We're splitting hairs at this point. You differentiated the two, and I explained why this was a bit tricky.

Hold w makes his power obsolete in chases. People just run from tile to tile and you are wasting time not even getting rid of pallets. You are not doing anything basically while gens pop.
I play him as m1 killer and use guards to push survs away from certain areas in most cases. I also try not to spend too much time setting a route.
He is effective at camping tho and 3 gen scenarios are unwinable against him since you can just spam his power.
And I don't like how those feel like his biggest strengths. I love how he looks and sounds like but I feel like I have to play dirty more often than with other killers I play if I don't want to be sh on.
Yeah, this is exactly my experience. Tried him out this morning again, got sent to Garden of Joy against a full 4man.
Got 3 hooks and he was basically an M1 killer with a quick pallet break on a long cd.
His summoning is so telegraphed that if they just run away the second you use your power, you may as well not have bothered.

cant define proxy camping? Its staying in the general area or close by.
And thanks for proving my point ^_^. See - staying close by, to me, is just camping.
My best understanding of proxy camping is using a mobility or area denial power to shut down routes to the hook while not being close by. Something like Hag's traps.

face Camping? Sure, proxy camping no.
Proxy camping is one of those terms that everyone uses but nobody can really define.
Like...if I see someone coming to unhook, I'll generally defend unless I'm already well in the lead, but I'm not going to set up and camp.

If you are purposely not taking opportunities in a match using the games basic tools, then I understand why you are having a hard time. You could be doing a twirl before trying to land any hit and then complain on forum why its so hard to hit Survivors.
Its your own doing.
Here's the thing though.
'Camping' is not a basic tool. You're actively penalized for it.
I do pretty decently on Wraith, Slinger, Hag, Artist, Trapper, Cenobite, Demo, Wesker, Nemesis, Trickster, Pig and the other killers I play. Knight is the only one I'm really struggling on right now.

Ok, what happens when the killer has no post-game (they are in console). This post makes no sense.
If a killer is slugging are they doing it out of pettiness or because they wanna win? Cause your post implies some sort of pettiness, but all the other posts here claim it's non-toxic, therefore argue for the competitive side of it.
It can be for a variety of reasons.
You say 'pettiness'. I say 'nobody likes being teabagged or gloated at'.

Just do what everyone else is doing… play him like a camping bubba. All anyone does with Knight is hook, then face camp the hook with a guard buddy as backup. It’s ridiculously stupid and cheap but killers don’t seem to have a problem with that if it gets them a 3-4k.
I don't camp or tunnel. Why do you want more camping and tunneling?
Also - not trying to be nasty here - but literally everything you post seems to be relentlessly negative and sarcastic. If you're not having fun with DbD, why not look for another hobby?

I am tired of being left on the floor to bleed out wasting my time because the killer can't stand someone possibly getting hatch. This has got to stop.
The second that baseline, infinite Unbreakable won't be heavily abused.
Killers would be willing to give hatch if survivors didn't feel the need to gloat about it in postgame.

You basically just want to drop his guards to push survivors away from loops. The guard doesn't need to trigger a hunt, as long as the survivor moves away from the loop. You really don't have time to make complex paths.
The other use for his guards I found is to place them down before picking someone up against flashlights or sabo since they can't flashlight save or sabo without consquences due to the guards.
Yeah I poop them down - the second they see the animation start, they're off. It's not like Artist where I can tag them to try for a follow up as they leave, or Hag where that trap might catch someone later.
I drop when I pick up, but I think folks have gotten wise to this now.

Hag's daily is also bugged, and AFAIK has been for a while now. My guess is that she's a 'low priority' killer, like Twins.

1. First of all, did we all forget about Badham and Cowshed? Many maps should get a rework or change in some way (Groaning Storehouse for example should have at least one of it's two pockets removed, Blood Lodge should be slightly smaller with more LOS blockers).
2. Well having base kit Kindred without killer aura part of the perk would be sweat. Self-Care being good would also impact really dumb players to not throw a match by healing for 40sec.
3. I hate medkits. I don't want them to be nerfed into the ground but healing by yourself in 13sec? Are you kidding me?
Boons are badly designed in general but that's discussion for another time.
As for add-ons, some of them are just too strong and not very healthy for the game (MDR, 3 blink Nurse, Recharge Nurse, Insta heals, Tombstone piece, Iridescent Uroboros Vile, and many add-ons that Blight has).
- Badham is on my 'ancient maps that have needed a rework since forever' list. Cowshed...sucks, but it was just reworked so I don't think there's much hope of that.
- I agree Self Care didn't need to be nerfed. Basekit Kindred, even without the killer aura, is a bit too strong to be baseline, unless they are going to give killers baseline CI or something.
- MDR is fine, honestly. 3 Blink - yeah. Myers needs a rework (also, please make SM and VM yellows). Haven't played enough Wesker yet to have an opinion on his balance.

To be honest, I think Devs leave tunneling/camping on purpose, knowing they're unfun for players. Most complaining and arguing are on those, removing it would make players satisfied.
Satisfied players dont make post or comment, people dont create a post just saying "I like this game", people dont make a comment saying "Right, I like this game too".
Arguing is the reason to make the forums live, people only make comment when seeing someone says the opposite to their thinking.
The glare from the light reflecting off that tinfoil hat is making it difficult to see my screen XD.
But seriously, I think it's more that they've tried a few things behind the scenes, and the solutions ended up creating bigger problems in other aspects of the game.
Baseline BT and OTR were a big help against tunneling and camping. The problem is that Nurse (and maybe a handful of others, but mostly Nurse) can stick to a survivor so well that they can bypass it.

Ideally, yes.
It would suck, but this would actually force the Devs to do something about problematic mechanics that have been in the game for years.
Or I guess they could ignore it. But at least it would actually be a skill-based system. I'm also sort of betting big on people's ego's being massive, which in my experience, is completely true. That's why I'd have MMR be visible.
Sorry, but that's an awful idea. You're asking for a lot of newer players to be made to suffer to...change aspects of the game you don't like by proxy.
I do like MMR being visible.

When I'm survivor I personally like the killer to chill out a bit - not farm but like let me atleast get some BP or maybe do enough to safety pip. I understand if they are just killing everyone quickly so they can go to next match to hopefully have a real match. I get annoyed when the killer decides to waste the remaining survivors time by slugging them until they bleedout.
Yeah, I do try and go out of my way to let people safety because *holy crap* is it way too easy to depip on survivor for what often feels like stuff out of your control. Honestly, depipping needs to go away.
I'll also often let folks finish a gen or get some extra healing for this purpose, especially if I've brought a flan or streamers.

1. Dynamic Balancing (I mean the balance of a match changing based on its state, like if the team gets 3 people slugged at 4 gens, give one of them a free unbreakable, if 3 gens pop in 1 minute, block gens for a certain period of time, just a very crude idea of it)
2. Solo Queue buffs as a whole
3. Delete Nurse or Eruption (take your pick both make me want to eat cyanide at this point)
- I'm not sure how far I'd take it but I actually really, really like the idea for slugging.
- How?
- Nah. Nurse needs a rework, and has for ages, but Eruption is fine. If you really want to tweak it, just make it fall off gens after they fully regress.

DH is a high risk/high reward perk. Getting hit by it as killer is punishing, possibly even more than before. But there is a lot more room for mistakes and counterplay.
@fussy said:
There shouldn't be a perk in the game that would ALWAYS make the killers afraid to make a swing.
There shouldn't be a perk in the game that would make a killer breathe into the back of survivor's head for 5 seconds every time you overtake him.
The game should not have a perk that would prolong the chase 2-3 times by pressing a button. And, think about it, to be able to use it EVERY CHASE because it has a cooldown of only 40 seconds, it's just amazingly stupid.
And no, there is no real skill here to use this perk. The real skill is to resist this perk and beat it.
The game should not have a perk that would allow you to get up to 10 free hits to the survivors EACH MATCH.
In my games, about 60-70% of the survivors still use it, which suggests that it is at least no worse than it was before.
Anyone who plays both sides enough understands how broken this perk is.
There's only one bucket of ######### in the game that affects the game more than dh - it's a CoH.
The only way I see the existence of this perk in its current form is to make it highly rewarded for high risk. For example, be in chase for a minute, which will give you a token to use it. Or at least save the survivor from the hook. It shouldn't be an exhaustion perk. It has to be a perk that needs to be earned.
Eh...it can be annoying, but the thing about DH is that if you bait it or outsmart it (much, much easier than before) it's suddenly a completely wasted ex perk.
Stuff like Lithe, BL, SB etc. are a lot more reliable - but have less of an impact in ideal situations.
DH is powerful, but risky.
I like it.

For me at least there's some Killers that I actually loathe. I feel a lot of their mechanics are 'meh' and in the past I used to sweat really hard to 'show them' but even trying my best against them isn't fun. Spite can only carry you so far, and at a certain point I just get filled with apathy. It's not that I throw necessarily, but I just don't really put a lot of spirit into it. Where with some killers it's like "Oh dammit good play!" or "Crap I screwed up!" (Because I'm in the moment) there are some killers where it's like "Yup you hit me." or "Camping with power? Yeah." Neither said with scorn or malice, but rather "This was a risk when I queued. I'd like my 10 minutes to be over so I can go to my next game."
Alternatively there are some Killers where I'm just absolutely in love with. Killers that I just hear their terror radius and it's like a flutter in my heart and a spring in my step. I hop off that generator to greet my aggressor and I get all sorts of excited. Like "Oh my god! It's you! I've waited so long for this reunion. Please please. Chase me! I'm such a good dance partner, I've practiced these steps so much that I've had dreams about this moment. And it's finally here!"
It's almost like going on a first date, because obviously they don't know you. But you know them. You know exactly what they want, what they're capable of, and hopefully like any good relationship you're going to help each other grow into better people by the end of those 10 minutes. Sure you test the waters a bit, standard fare. "Do they respect pallets? Do they mind game? How do they like their steaks served?" You try to sus out their power, are they aggressive with it, do their perks synergize, how long does it take for them to give up a chase?
Then they learn from you too. They see how you hug the loops so tightly (Maybe wanting the same tight hug around their firm body?) They see how you fake out pallets or loops, and more importantly start learning how to use their power around you. It's a beautiful frenzy that hits a perfect harmony when they flourish with their own brand of punishment. You get hit, you scream in pain and get a burst of speed. Oh man it's like heaven. You're out of breath from exhaustion, bleeding, and leaving a trail like rose petals straight to you and you just can't take it anymore. You're so close but you've still got a little bit left to give. It's easier for them to hunt you now, not only from reading you from the first encouraging painful drop of their weapon but because of how loud you're wailing in anticipation.
You dodge a few hits, stun them once or twice more. God that vault was close, they were robbed! You're running out of options and it feels so great. There's a rush of wind, chills run down your spine as the overwhelming presence becomes so close you can almost hear them lick their lips at the potential of their first hook of the game. And what a well earned hook state it's going to be! Nobody will ever be chased as good as you are. After all. You love them. You'll treat them with more care than anyone else ever could.
And then they leave. The second generator ding told the Killer that you were a waste of their time. They've lost all interest in you. Now for the rest of the game they want nothing to do with you, even so much as letting you work on a generator right on their path. You start to desperately make an easy target for yourself and they just...
...keep walking.
Like a stranger on a sidewalk, two ships in the night that will never see each other.
He just lets you go.
GG's.
I guess.
You'll always have a place in my heart Pyramid. I wish you'd have given me another chance.
Do you also have a Killer you long for?
I love facing Hags, weirdly enough - she's my main, and, unless they are just hard camping, I find them a completely unique experience. I guess her being ridiculously rare also helps.
Otherwise...hmm. Nurses can be pretty fun to play against, unless they are just hard tunneling. Huntress is another.
Probably the #1 would be Artist, as she's another killer I adore playing and there's a ton of play/counterplay with her birbs.

I'd make it be a functional system, for one. Skill-based matchmaking should track skill, not escapes or kills.
Have a map weight system. Total loops and strength of tiles/number of pallets or windows factor in to the total weight. If you lose as Killer on a highly Survivor-weighted map, you lose less points than if you'd have lost on a different map. If you win, you gain more as to reward you for overcoming a challenge stacked against you. If you win as Survivor on a map like Shelter Woods, you should gain more as you were clearly more skilled than your opponent, despite obviously being at a disadvantage. Map offerings should immediately flip the switch towards whoever used them. If you bring an offering for Aazarov's as Survivor, it doesn't matter what map it is, the game would still act like you were on a heavy Survivor-weighted map. Same with Killer's bringing map offerings.
Give bonus points for high hook stages. Getting 10 hooks and 2 Kills shouldn't be weighted the same as getting 4 Hooks and 2 Kills. Reward fresh hooks as well, every fresh hook gives bonus points for being more skillful but going after the same Survivor doesn't detract points.
Record chase times for Survivor (or times where a Killer is within X meters). Give points per X seconds of chase. Give points per X seconds of gen progress. Points for sabotage plays within X meters of a Killer carrying a Survivor. Reward individual power counterplay, ie, taking a hit for a Survivor speared by Deathslinger, solving Pinhead's Box, etc etc. Reward altruistic actions, saviors shouldn't be punished by being put in lower MMR tiers.
This is just stuff off of the top of my head.
Hmm.
It's easy to say 'skill based matchmaking', but that's bloody hard to quantify. Especially for killer. I mean - Hag, Artist and Wesker all play 100% differently to each other. Other, simpler games have experimented with skill based matchmaking (Heroes of the Storm immediately comes to mind) and results were...mixed to negative.
The map weight system is interesting, but I think that it might be a bit easier to just...rework problem maps. Honestly, about half of them need a bloody update and have for years.
Points...you mean BP? Eh. If I've learned one thing this year, from the number of people who will DC on the first down despite me bringing flans is that, after a certain point, people don't care that much about BP. I'd prefer to see more powerful perks that incentivize hooking different survivors.
If you mean MMR points - the problem is that it's going to play havoc with the system, and likely lead to silly deflations or inflations of MMR.

Exactly, just like the build you provided, if its perks or items are completley irrelevant, both builds are unrealistic.
First you say that the killer dosnt chase at all:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UOJDETFWPPH8/b2pw2e3-5b1-5d.png
Then you bring up an argument where you provide an unrealistic build, that requires the killer to chase to make it work.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/AOHLAP33080W/ibum2nz-5b1-5d.png
Just because it fits into your argument (a build thats easy counterd as i said).
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/EXHDX92O8UY2/omqswws-5b1-5d.png
But are the killer "sitting there and stalling" or "is he actually chasing" ?
- because you said both now.
And i also told you how to counter both.
Okay, last try because I feel like I'm being gently wound up here.
- The issue is that one build is possible and from the other folks on the forums, it's catching on now. But you don't know if it's going to happen, so you can't really prepare for it every game. And if it does occur and you've got a standard build, there is no way to break it. Currently, Knight seems to be the popular choice for doing this, but I can imagine a few others also pulling it off easily.
- You don't need to chase over the map. All you need to do is get a hit, then slap a regression perk on it. If they persist, you'll get downs. If they fall back to heal, the gens regress. You...still haven't watched that Hens video, have you? Also - you seem more interested in twisting people's words to play 'gotcha' games rather than actually having a discussion - it's a bit silly.
- It's not 'easily countered', at all. I'm still not sure if you understand exactly what's being described here. The only counter involves running a specific, very niche build that's going to lose you a lot of other games. Which isn't reasonable.
- If one specific strategy requires specific perks to counter or it's an auto-loss, that instantly tells you there's a problem. See: Boil Over+No Mither.

I've seen this twice tonight.
Killer loads in, finds three close gens, never leaves.
I've only seen it once thus far, and yeah - it was bloody annoying.
This is, unfortunately, a problem that can only really be fixed through moderation. People like this need a ban, ditto survivors that play hide and seek forever when you've got 2 kills.
-
Glad this thread survived the change.
A few more from my side:
Artist
Ebon Wings (Purple)
Injuring swarmed survivors with a bird strike does not remove the swarm.
-
- The only maps that really need help are Eyrie (too big for the amount of god loops), GOJ (holy crap this map is old Haddonfield levels of busted with certain window spawns) and maybe Mother's Dwelling. But a lot of maps could do with a rework, if only for the sake of shaking things up.
- Yes...but aside from the status icons I can't think of much that can really be done outside of native voicechat (hahahaha) that wouldn't make SWF stronger.
- Nurse...yeah. She just needs a top down rework. I'm fine with most items and addons, with the possible exception of medkits (but CoH is a bigger problem imho - how this got a pass while SC got gutted...I'd love to know). Honestly, a lot of killers need a complete addon pass - PH, Hag, Artist, Slinger, Blight, Freddy...and that's just off the top of my head.

It's completely possible to hold the match hostage by holding a 3-gen.
The Hens video that was posted a bit ago showed that. I tested it myself to confirm.
It's not even really hard to do
The problem is that this is a fringe scenario - and most 3gen situations are a hell of the survivors' own making. I don't want to see perks nerfed because of some poopers taking games hostage - there has to be a more elegant solution. It's also not like Boil Over, where one perk could be gutted to remove the problem. Eruption makes this easier, but I'm sure you could accomplish something similar with other perks.
The only counter I can imagine is a 4man with PE, but you'd have to go in knowing what to expect. Which isn't realistic.
-
@GrimReaperJr1232 said:
It's been some time since the nerf. I think we've all formed our opinions on it by now.
Personally, I still despise the perk. Is it better than before? Yes, but the Current Nurse is better than Release Nurse with 7 blinks. That doesn't mean it's okay.
The most obvious annoyance would be the uncounterable DH into a pallet. Hit them? You lose. Don't hit them? You lose. But let's ignore that for a moment. Let's delve into the most common counterargument.
"Just bait it out!"
Okay. Tell me how. No, really. Tell. Look at their back? That's not a bait. A bait would be a Billy revving their saw, making you vault the window, only to reveal they barely revved it so they could get an M1 on you. If I'm staring at their back, waiting for them to DH, I am not baiting the perk. I am waiting out the perk.
Am I being overly pedantic? I wouldn't say so. Baiting implies there is some sort of exchange or interaction taking place. If I'm waiting out a DH, I'm just... staring at their back. I would watch paint dry and it'd have the same effect.
Now, there are times when there's actual proper baiting. Wraith tapping M2, Blight bumping next to you instead of swinging at you, and I suppose (generously) Trickster throwing knives AROUND you instead of at you. The rest? Nope. Your M2 is likely countered, you can't lunge since they can react (if the servers work, anyway), and point blank is just... waiting.
It's just an unfun perk to go against... and also pretty annoying to use. Yes, I play survivor. Yeah, I know the feeling of DH-ing and still ending up on the ground because Dedicated Servers said no.
I'm fine with it. The goal wasn't to break the perk, it was to reign it in slightly and open up more options.
BHVR succeeded, and I wish that this was their policy when it comes to killer perks (RIP Thana).

I can’t believe we’ve gotten to the point where people are complaining about 3 gens.
It’s a valid strategy that’s been in the game for ages and can snowball a win for the killer. Now everyone’s crying about it and says we should eliminate it. It’s silly.
Survivors hate getting camped/tunneled out cause they don’t feel like it gives them a fair chance to “play the game”, and have said for ages to just “pressure gens” and you won’t have to do that. But then when we finally get some good perks that allow us to “pressure gens”, we’re also not allowed to maintain a 3 gen cause it’s boring too??? Like, what do survivors expect us to do? Get looped for 5 gens so everyone else can complete all the gens in a 5 minute game? The entitlement’s ridiculous.
I do think that Eruption and CoB are a little overtuned atm and need to be toned down to make 3 gens a little less extreme, but come on. In a game where survivors are inherently favored in chases and gens can get done extremely quickly, this is ridiculous. It’s not holding the game hostage to defend gens and delay gens being done as much as possible. God forbid the killer using good strategy and not just mindlessly committing to chases that are away from where gens are being done at.
Eruption isn't overtuned. CoB isn't overtuned. That's not what's going on here.
People aren't talking about situations where survivors plan gens poorly and trap themselves.
The '3 gen' scenario is a killer, using specific killers/builds for this purpose, intentionally locking down 3 gens the second a match starts and never leaving, with their goal being to draw the game out indefinitely.
This isn't a strategy, any more than 2 survivors playing hide and seek for 30 minutes on Eyrie while avoiding AFK crows in the hopes the killer DCs a strategy. It's just taking the game hostage.

Are you seriosly saying that you are having this issue in every single match you play? if you do, then im sorry to say so, and its not to be rude, but then its an issue with your way of playing.
Gens can still be done fairly fast even with out BPNs.
But since you made up builds that i never have seen being played, why cant i ?
Its only allowed when its in favour of your argument?
/eyeroll.
No. That's what I'm saying.
You can't bring BNP preemptively every match in case someone wants to be a pooper and do this.
Also - that's not a build. That's an item. An Iri, no less. You can bring a build every match. You can't bring an item.
In case you didn't understand, this was two people with a fully jacked PE, plus dual BNPs. The thing about PE is that - outside of a meme video like this one, it's a perk that you are never going to bring. And people shouldn't be expected to bring a niche perk every game just in case someone is abusing something like this - if that's the answer, then that only proves my point.

did you see the video i provided?
- thats the solution on your problem.
- If you wont run with those perks, then the issue cant be that big.
I did. I wasn't sure if you were being serious. Even the creator explains that it's a 'stars align' moment, not something that can be reliably recreated.
How exactly do you have enough BNPs to preemptively bring them to every single match, for starters?

- Eruption requiers the killer to hunt and down someone, you said the problem was that the killers would not do this (should they do this, then your problem is solved, do the gens while the killer is in chase).
- CoB is canceled as soon as you touch the gen.
- Dragons Grib again requiers the killer to hunt and down someone, you said the problem was that the killers would not do this, it also have 80 a sec CD, that alone makes it pretty useless, fixing a gen takes 90 secs, before you add perks and toolboxes.
- Overcharge - its one skillcheck thats not that hard to to.
Also, you are fumbling for arguments right now, so you just came up with 1 build that i litterly never have seen anyone use, just to be right in this argument.
I dont need to watch videos on this, as i said, i have been in that exact situation both as survivor and killer, and survivors won each time.
But hey here is a video of 2 survivors doing a gen in 6 secs
Yes. Eruption is there for them if they try to brute force gens down. Reapplying it doesn't take long. DG works on the same principle.
Once again, go watch the Hens video. Then we can chat.

In my view, having a chapter based on recent killings/atrocities just feels wrong. I would hate it. I don't want to see Jeffrey Dahmer (or a fictionalized version of him/character based on him) in DBD. I don't want to see Richard Ramirez, Samuel Little, etc.
But what about much older Killers, ones that are so far removed from society (meaning, no one alive today was alive at the time of the event)? How would you feel if BHVR was going to put out a Jack the Ripper chapter? Genghis Khan? Vlad the Impaler?
(IMPORTANT: For the sake of argument, let's focus the attention only on that specific question. Ignore angles like "I'd hate it because I know the powers would suck," (let's just pretend they'd be great) or maybe for legal reasons, that BHVR couldn't use someone's "likeness." Ignore all of that. What I'm curious about is how people would feel about the idea of using real people/events as Killers. What do you think of that? Is it fine if they're from hundreds of years ago? Is it fine if they're from a few decades ago?)

Something recent or immediate? Yeah, that would be in bad taste.
Otherwise? Meh. Dahmer, Gacy, Gein and co. are already essentially movie monsters in pop culture. Would prefer to see more licensed killers personally - still holding out hope for Pumpkinhead or Candyman.
Or even my long desired giant spider killer...

Anyone else think we should get alittle more compensation than 600bp when some scrub rage quit 30seconds in
like im not 100% but im pretty sure the killer gets more bp and he already gets a free win
it's no peach as Killer either, trust me. The BP reward is petty, and it basically instantly makes it impossible to Pip at certain grades. Plus you've now got 10 minutes of complete time wastage hunting down everyone else, and it's almost guaranteed that someone's going to BM and play hide and seek.

Then do the 3 gens at the same time (2 gens is enough), you will get progress and get it done in the end.
Even when it takes longer, i have been there on both ends.
Go and watch some of the videos on this. While I don't think Eruption is as OP as people make it out to be, it does make this strategy nearly unbeatable. CoB+Erupt+maybe Overcharge and Dragon's Grip - you aren't going to break that 3gen. You'll either get slugged out in the little defensive zone, or you'll run out of time.
I think Hens did a video on this, go and give it a look.

"You used to have more 'fun' matches under ranks, because you're an elite player"
- It's really not like that. Imagine we played a card game called I win you lose. It's possible you would win but you don't know the rules so you almost certainly will not. This is a rigged game (and yes it actually has a list of rules). DBD is a rigged game as soon as you're no longer talking about randomly arranged solo queue players. Dbd is rigged even more as you move out of the "middle MMR" bracket.
It would be one thing if they refused to balance high level play and you could just "opt out" of the match maker. Your games would be fine and whomever you play with would probably not have fun. DBD shouldn't be a game where after X rank you can play less than one third of the killer roster and feel you have a fair chance of winning.
On some level it's like what the computer says at the end of the movie : War Games.
In order to attempt fair games I have to look at everyone's friend list to deduce who is paired up. That's a 3 man with lots of items dodge. That's two teams of 2 swf each and they used a heart locket - Oh no that always makes my game crash.
The reality is that dbd has balancing befitting a game you will play 20 hours and never play it again.
In terms of APVP games like this? DbD is astonishingly well balanced. Think back to the infinite stuns of F13 or...well, Evolve.
SWF is tricky, but the current balance philosophy seems to be tuned around killer versus SWF - and, even compared to a year ago, it's not bad.
I watch a lot of streams, and Otz and co (who have a similar number of hours to you) do pretty decently on weak killers like Sadako, Knight and Trapper.
Could MMR be better? Sure.
Do I agree with your assertion that ranks were fairer overall, or that putting a 50 hour player up against people with 20x those hours is something good or worth aspiring to? Absolutely not.

Why is it a problem? you are 4 people right? fix the gens the killer protects, if he starts chasing you... good then there are 3 ppl to do gens still.
The killer cant me at 3 gens at the same time.
He doesn't chase.
He just sits there and stalls. If a gen gets worked on, he slaps regression on it and never leaves the area. You can do 4gens, but you'll never get that last one done.

The killers main objective is to secure that they dont loose (making sure that the survivors dont get the gens done, because if they do they win).
The second objective, besides secureing not loosing (That includes securing a 3 gen ), is to get kills to win.
If the killer gets a 3 gen it is very much the survivors fault for not thinking ahead.
The issue is that this isn't an endgame 3gen.
This is a person staking out a 3gen from word one and never leaving it, in the hopes of dragging the game out to the timecap and autokill.
Not an easy one to fix, sadly.

"I think it's more that they want to incentivize SWF play, not discourage it."
Fine: make a mode where you and 4 friends play against 5 other players. The killers exchange survivors and it becomes a mini tournament.
When I play vs 4 man SWF streamers I notice that listening to their coms makes for fair play. "He left me so I will use unbreakable" - immediate 180 turn to hook that person. "If he picks me up I have DS" - proceed to slug and wait out DS timer. One player announced they brought deliverance in a stream so I made sure to hook them first and slug anyone else I downed.
The simple reality is that SWF breaks the game. Bad SWF players who can rush gens on an unfair map will win vs a very good killer. That's not right. Take away the coms advantage and they melt. If DBD had a change: when your microphone activates your aura is revealed for the duration of your message +5 seconds that would make people rethink the situation.
"you are probably MMR capped or close to it"
-MMR doesn't cap. It's just that once you hit 1600 every rating is technically 1600. So if I see a 4 man 10k lobby with 4 medkits (40k hrs) and dodge it - the next one might also be 1600 with no items and 2 solo players. The game tries to match you up with someone with fair skill. The problem is that there is no adjustment for SWF. That's not fair.
"-Putting a newbie against someone with over 8,000 hours wouldn't be close to fair."
Noobs get protected match making so that's a non issue. Getting a top tier blight once per month at the start of rank reset is a good learning experience.
- It's a cute idea, but it would be a lot of work for a very niche game-mode. The 4v1 APVP thing is sort of what DbD's identity is.
- The mic idea is impossible to implement, and I can already think of 4 easy ways to bypass it.
- Tomato tomahto. MMR was a lot fairer initially, but people complained bitterly about 8 minute queues so they relaxed it. It's still better than ranks though, even with me starting to (probably) push into higher MMRs on my Hag and Artist, and facing forum familiars and the odd streamer group.
- That protected MMR doesn't last long at all. And no, no it's not. Firstly, it's not once - it's basically a week. And secondly, it's a massive motivation killer.
Look, I get it. You used to have more 'fun' matches under ranks, because you're an elite player - due to the randomness - you were facing substantially easier opponents, and could just meme around and still win. That may be fun for you, but it's awful for everyone else.
Elite players should be facing other elite players. New players should be facing new players. Intermediate players...you see where I'm going with this. Because those are fair matches, as so far as this game can be fair.

Holy crap, I faced the Mario themed team a bit back myself.
They (drumroll)...stomped me.

No I get what you are saying but the point is the Knight 3 gen lock strategy has no counter. The others are unfun strategies that are of course a consequence of not so great design of the killer but they still have counter play.
The 3 gen lockdown with Eruption, COB etc has no counter and the Knight is an anti loop killer, even if a somewhat janky one at that. But they aren't playing to his power, they are exploiting a perk combo and his power to create an unwinnable scenario for survivors. Can you not see the distinction here?
Sure.
What I'm saying is that the problem is not really fixable on a surgical level, and would require an overhaul of the killer(s) in question.
I wish hostage games were moderated a bit more aggressively (far, far too many survivors stalling things out playing hide and seek this event too) but the chances of that are sadly 0.

Pretty sure the reason it got killswitched to being with was, that the displayed bonus wasn’t applied so it was probably with the bugged version not possible to make it fixed to 50 %
also.. personally I don’t miss the bonus BP. I feel like I reach 2M way too quickly and the bloodwebs/spending BP feel way too slow
If you've been playing a while, yeah - you accumulate BP pretty fast and don't have much to spend it on.
If you're someone still trying to unlock important stuff, it's very grindy and the incentives were a massive help.

I disagree, this isn't simply a viable strategy, it is exploiting bad design and creating an unwinnable scenario for your opponents where their only sensible option is to give up to avoid an hour long standoff.
Against Bubba you can still do gens, against Twins you can also do the same. Sure both of them are annoying, unfun and difficult to deal with but they don't force your entire team into a hostage situation from the outset.
You're missing my point.
These are all boring, unfun playstyles that unfortunately that killer is basically pigeonholed into because of a poorly designed kit.
All three need a rework, and some buffs in other areas to allow them to play differently.
Yes, it sucks when someone stakes out a 3gen early and just defends, much as it sucks when 2 survivors decide to sulk and play hide and seek around the map while avoiding AFK crows. But outside of recording and reporting, you can't do much to 'fix' it without interfering with legitimate play.
The majority of the time, 3gen situations are something survivors do to themselves.
-
Uh...Fogwise and Hyperfocus are insanely good perks. I run Fogwise baseline now, it's almost as strong as prenerf OoO.
Also - what?
PR, Penti predate or are from a similar time as COH.
FoR is niche as hell.
Merciless Storm is a meh perk.
Dissolution is a bad perk.
AA got nerfed, and now is a niche pick that requires LP, only really worth it on Nurse.
SA is inferior to Bamboozle in nearly every situation.
Darkness Revealed is decent, as is NTH - but hardly meta changing and mostly a niche pick on certain killers. About the only perk on that list I'd agree with is CoB, and that's more about most other regression perks being nerfed.
Survivors have plenty of viable options. More so than ever. You're forgetting how much stuff (OTR, for instance) was buffed out the wazoo during the meta shakeup.
Yes, survivors are just skins - but on the other hand, the new killer could be bad, buggy or just difficult to learn. The different roles are different.

Uh. Okay.
Firstly, you don't get a 48 hour ban for one DC. You'd have to DC over and over and over again to get it that high.
Secondly, whether it's deliberate or just crappy internet, it's not fair to the other 4 players in your matches for you to DC. You either need to stop, fix your internet or maybe consider a different game that you can enjoy offline.

Every time now, the same thing when I see this killer I know they are just going to camp a 3 gen and the match turns into a war of attrition that they will ultimately win as they all run the usual Eruption/Call of Brine based build.
We are 'unsportsmanlike' if we don't want to play those matches but what are we to do here? This throws you into a drawn out lose/lose scenario where I guess we are supposed to just humour the killer for an hour long stalemate?
I cant understand the mentality of people who play match after match doing this...
It's like Bubba and camping or Twins and slugging.
Some killers only really have one viable way of playing against strong opponents.
