It takes 4 minutes to bleed out if the killer downs you and leaves you. Imagine how much longer it will take if the killer only has to go through a 3 second cooldown after downing you, then picks you up and drops you over and over. It would take forever. You’d be “bleeding out” for less than 10 seconds every time, that’s more than 20 minutes and that’s only if that’s all they do.
Taking the game hostage doesn’t mean only a scenario where it literally will never end. It also includes scenarios where someone drags things out for an unreasonable amount of time on purpose.
Taking the game hostage means exactly a scenario where it never ends.
This also won't last 20 minutes. 10 tops. After 4 minutes the other survivor will have bled out and then either the killer has to leave you to close the hatch letting you bleed out faster or after every 4th drop the survivor can run and go for the hatch.
Don't get me wrong you can almost certainly get them for grieving at that point. But its not holding the game hostage.that terminology is slowly losing all meaning with how many people misuse it.

It is considered by the Devs to be holding the game hostage. Leaving people to bleed out isn't, slowing down the bleed out timer as much as you can is.
Source? I'm pretty sure the only times the devs concidert something holding the game hostage was when survivors hide for 30+ minutes.
This won't last more then 10 minutes

For me atleast LS beats whispers by a mile
You know exactly where everyone is meaning you can go to the biggest cluster of survivors and always ensures the best early game you can possibly have.
That is coming from a person who finds Whispers extremly overrated though. I think i would pick almost every other information perk outside of whispers

Not if the Killer keeps to pick them up. The game will never end at this point.
There is a 3 second cooldown after attack you will eventually die
And while the killer does that the other survivor can do gens or is dying
Scummy as hell but not holding the game hostage. People need to learn what that means.

Picking up survivors and dropping them until they escape and kicking gens is not progressing the game, that's holding it hostage.
Not holding the game hostage. Once survivors are down they will die after 4 minutes.
Scummy to do but not holding the game hostage

What do you mean 'the kind that lets you see over tiles'? I don't think you quite understand how stretched res works in DBD. Because of what is presumably a fault in DBD's graphics engine, any non-native (non 16:9) resolution will give an alteration in vertical FOV. There's no type of stretched res that doesn't give you a change in FOV. In fact, technically, if you stretch it the other way, you get less vertical FOV (a problem which I believe people with ultra-wide monitors face).
The only way I could improve game performance without using stretched res (and therefore giving me more FOV) would be to run at a lower 16:9 resolution, but the reason why I don't is because they aren't nice to watch or play with. I much prefer the look of 1440x1080. Yes, I get a slight advantage from it, be it mitigated or not, but at least I can actually play the game somewhat comfortably.
What they should do is use fixed resolutions and fill the rest with black bars.
"Not being nice to look at" is not a excuse
Using mindgames is such a big part of killer gameplay that if you can't play without disrupting that. Then sorry but imo you shouldn't play at all

I cannot smoothly play the game on native. If the game was well-optimized, I wouldn't have so much of a problem with non 16:9 resolutions being banned, but stretched is essentially my only option to make DBD playable. I never use more than 1440x1080 in public matches to mitigate the effects of the FOV gain. I can understand 1:1 resolutions being completely unfair in public matches, but surely 4:3 isn't that big of a deal?
When people are talking about stretched res they are specifically talking about the kind that lets you see over tiles.
If that isn't the case then no, no one cares
-
Stretched res allows you to see over some tiles which you normally can't over.
It is cheating. Whether that's the intend of the stretched user is irrelivant
-
Imo the weakest killer in dbd
That said the concept is amazing and should really stay. Becoming stronger by creepily looking at people is so Myers
Tier 3 just needs to be more then just slightly faster vaults and insta downs. Insta downs just aren't as impactfull as they where when myers released
Would like to see just action speed buff across the board. Like 25% increase in everything fire up increases
Make brutal, bamboozle fireup myers a real threat.
-
Hoping DCers will be replaced by bots someday.
The bots are better then half the playerbase anyway
-
Power cosmetics would be pretty cool
Playing huntress with a big fancy axe and still throwing those dusty ol hatchets feels weird too.
Problem is not every killer has costumizable powers so that's why they probably don't do it
-
There are only 2 problems with Noed as far as i can see.
1) facecamping
The counter to facecamping is to rush gens, that leaves little time for totem hunting and for the effort it requires is a pretty easy way to guarantee at least a 2k
2) Dull totems are not worth doing outside of noed
Dull totems are just not worth doing just for a chance to maybe counter a potential Noed. Despite what some players think Noed just isn't common enough to always do all totems. Doing them all and seeing the killer didn't have any perk relating to totems just feels like a waste of time.
My prefered change to nerf noed is to buff it. Make it so everytime a survivor cleanses a dull totem they scream, become exposed for 20/25/30 seconds and every survivor gets the hex notification. On top of that only survivors that have been hooked before become exposed when all gens are completed
This will make Noed more usefull throughout the match but more importantly survivors will know it's in play. It no longer is a gamble. And they can't use to make facecamping better
-
Thing with keys is on a pure statistic point of view. They aren't that powerfull.
Most of the time a key will let one survivor escape and doom the other survivors resulting in a 2 or 3k for the killer. Which technically is a win
The thing is... That's boring.
That's the problem with keys. They just end the game prematurely. They turn what could have been an exciting end to a game and turn it into a 2 players hiding snooze fest.
The only change needed was to make the hatch not spawn untill all generators were fixed or untill one survivor is left.
Just so they don't end games halfway anymore
-
DbD 2 will release 20 years from now to tickle our nostalgia bone after the first one inevitably died
-
Word goes around it is fixed in the next patch
-
I'm hoping when mmr comes around they won't just forget about emblems.
They really need some work
-
Clown is very strong in chasing if you are willing to put the time and effort into learning where to best use both of his gasses effectivilly.
He sadly also is very punishing and even the slightest of mistakes can cost you big time.
Hence why most of the community thinks he's bad.
-
A lot of people say billy but tbh with wraiths buffs and the billy rework I'm declined to say wraith.
And tbh it's not even close.
Wraith always has mobility, Billy needs straightish lines. Wraith will go from point A to B swiftly all the time. In Lery's Billy isn't much faster then any other 115% killer
Instadown vs good survivors is very rare, they will force you to m1. Curving is nice and all but more flashy then effective. and messing it up to much is just wasted time.
Some tiles billy just has to take the loop, there are very little tiles where the postcloak lunge isn't helpfull
I would say Wraith now is overal just more concistant and thus more powerfull. The only thing that could swing it to Billy is if every survivor knows it's a wraith and they just go all out with flashlight/bangs
-
For licence sake i want Chucky. Anything that isn't him will most likely not intrest me anymore
As far as original goes. Either a bug/spider hybrid killer
Or something fire related.
Especially the fire one, i think BHVR could make fire look absolutly amazing
-
Oni is probably one of the most balanced killers out there and when there are no problems people tend to not talk about it.
It's a good sign if a killer isn't discussed much
-
1000 is a pretty big number
That's 250 perfect matches
Let's say an avarage of 10 minutes per match that's 2500 minutes or 41 hours and 40 minutes of killer alone. Game time, not spend in lobbies
It takes like 85 pips to get to rank 1 so if you did this then you would be rank 1 about a third/ fourth of the way till you get 1000 sacrifices
A fifth if you only get merciless killer.
It's really not surprising not a lot of people have this
-
The only real problem hag has (outside of her camping abilities) is that you see her so little.
So many survivors have no clue how to play against her. Hell seems like half the red ranks don't know you can crouch to prevent the trap
-
The only change that's needed outside of placing traps around hooks is that the trigger area needs to be a little bit clearer.
So it's more obvious you can trigger the trap at it's farthest point and then back off
Also tooltips that you can crouch the trap pls
-
Houdini builds like lithe and q&q, Iron will, Lucky break, etc... also work pretty well. Especially on top of DS as it can bail you out when the killer does find you
You can't kill what you can't find.
if you have Lucky break still active when you DS a killer you can just dissapear. 5 seconds is a lot of distance that you could or could not have covered
-
As a general rule of thumb, if it doesn't have a loading bar it doesn't break DS
-
My prefered method of dealing with it is to have a nice cup of tea next to me.
And take a sip when i get hit by it.
5 seconds is the perfect amoumt of time to enjoy a sip before going back to the game

That's generally the better way

The Monika from DDLC as a new killer suggestion at least made me laugh

Don't you mean...THE FIRST ONE?!
You may hit me for that btw.
Technically correct
Still..
I am taking your bell
-
I should check out what the very last post is. Could be interresting
-
Your aproach to this is all wrong.
If you look good then why would they let you go. They would want to keep you. Probably even stare at your abs for 2 minutes after they hook you
Play quentin for guarantied escapes.
Sometimes the killers even run away from me!
-
Eh yeah, can you imagine the storm they would get if they left it out.
Surveys are for feedback and expected negative feedback is part of it.
-
I would like just so we would have 2 killers and perks that share a name
-
Don't really see a reason why/ why not.
Other then maybe spotting a breakout play. It doesn't really do much.
Would much rather have actual usefull information like hook states of survivors

What does AMA mean and why are you answering all these random questions?

This is the reincarnation of the hatch standoff

In the 2.5 seconds of cooldown after a tentacle strike survivors normally are able to gain
(0.25s times 4.8 m/s )+(2.25s times 6m/s) = 14,7 m
with licker tongue it's
(0.4 times 4.8 m/s)+(2.1s times 6m/s)= 14.5 m
So no, not worth it in the slightest
(20% slowdown + 150% speedboost stacking multiplicatively means 0.8 times 1.5= 1.2 so a 20% speedboost which is 4.8 m/s)
as a sidenote if the hindered effect didn't excist at all the survivor would be able to gain 15m of distance
Both base + licker's tongue hindered effect desperatly need their duration increased

Do you know if new franklin's will deplete the one's placed on the ground by survivors?
I haven't played the ptb but i'm fairly sure it won't
Franklin's modifies your attack to have an effect. It's not a global modifier
-
No, only ones you knocked out of hand.
They will be revealed to you once on the ground though
-
It shouldn't really be easier but more concistant and streamlined.
Pipping as plague is a nightmare
On the other hand I am fairly certain i could go from rank 20 to 1 as Legion without ever killing a survivor if i played long enough
Improved matchmaking is what would make killer more enjoyable for more people so people who play for fun and giggles aren't going up against the people who want to play as effective as possible
-
Oni
Something about his dash feels so weird to me
-
Upping the duration of most blindness effects is a good start.
Blindness can actually be really good in slugging situations but it needs to last longer then 60 seconds for that to happen.
Another funny idea could also be that it makes hexes appear as dull totems
-
These kind of mods really only should be active in KYF mode
-
@vacaman said:
Keys were actually buffed because the only counter (franklins) doesn't work against keys anymore. And they said they would rework them after nerfing the moris. Awesome.
They are fixing that in the midchapter patch
Keys won't be able to be used to open the hatch when at zero charges so Franklins will be better at dealing with keys then before
-
@[Deleted User] said:
The best nerf to keys IMO is that the person using it is the only person that gets to escape after opening the hatch with the key.
Bad fix.
The game is still instantly over the second a survivor leaves.
The problem with keys is that they just suddenly end the game halfway
The only way to fix the current itteration of keys is to change the hatch spawm mechanic
Hatch only spawns when one survivor is left or all gens are done
With the above change (that would be very easy to hotfix in btw) keys can only be used when the match is actually over. Allowing you to bypass opening the gate or reopening the hatch after the killer shut it close
It still can be a "free" escape but atleast it won't take away the game you were trying to play

Yeah, like 95% of the players, but some are games destroyers who like to finish 100% of their games, and this kind of design makes ending 100% of the game impossible, or you have sooooo much hours.
Yeah i agree, they really need to look into it.
Most of the reason i would suggest to just let it come naturally is because it is such a unsurmountainable task otherwise

It definitely doesn’t hurt the killer. It just ######### the other survivors.
Despite what some people might think players who play killer play it for fun and when a survivor suddenly leaves the game is bassicly over.
Being left only with the choice of completly stomping and making the match a complete loss for the remaining ones so you can get into a real game
Or letting them farm wasted a ton of time not playing the game you meant to play
So don't give me that silly remark it doesn't hurt the killer. It hurts every participant of the game
-
On the flip side you could also just enjoy the game and let the grind come naturally
-
Didn't wraith have bloodhound basic when invisible or did they remove that?

@gibblywibblywoo said:
Its nowhere near as good as people claim. First off it pretty much forces you into cleansing all totems in a row whereas small game lets you do it at your own pace across the course of a match.
Also, its awful at the one thing it could be good at, finding totems on RPD/Hawkins/Game because it doesnt actually locate your first totem. Then theres the time loss from it always showing the furthest totem.
That's the thing, it doesn't force you at all.
Counterforce is for the people who have mapknowledge of where most of the totems are.
And if you do you can cleanse all totems waay faster then any other totem perk.
If you use it for finding totems it is like using sloppy butcher for tracking. That's not it's main purpose
