Did you know that skill does not equal time?

Their code is too janky to do anything about hackers.

Actually no.
Cross progression would mean your progress from one platform (Xbox as an example) could be accessed from Steam and vice versa. What this also means is any micro transactions you purchase would essentially be “free” on the other platform where you didn’t make the purchase. This means the platform that you didn’t make the purchase on loses the potential income they could’ve gained if you had instead spent the money on their ecosystem.
TLDR:
Blame the platforms for not being pro consumer with cross progression.
The feature needs to be approved by the platforms, not bhvr.
Other games do have cross progression or this would hold more water.
-
Likely just licensing. They IP holders probably get royalties per copy per platform sold.

Isn't poker a competitive game?
Poker doesn't get cards added and removed in between hands.

It doesn't matter what you call it, it is what it is.
...But I don't think it's competitive. Over half of the game's outcome is controlled entirely by RNG. That's competitive to you?

Imagine playing a competitive videogame and not wanting to be better than others
I don't recall ever calling DBD competitive.

I hate that. I get punished for getting better and i don't get the reward of proving that i'm better. It's like they want old players to quit the game.
If that's your takeaway then you're exactly the reason they're hiding MMR. 🙃
-
Just let us have 6 and every day fill in the blanks to keep it at half. Let it just auto fill to 3 each side but stack up to 6. Choosing which side you get will only jack up the queues, since there's plenty of players who just don't play the opposing side.
-
I get the same map 5 times in a row every night. Sometimes it's awesome, like The Game, and like yesterday, sometimes it sucks and you get coldwind. I play killer.

But do we agree that chases are the only thing in this game that take any semblence of skill (On both sides, mind you not just one or the other).
Oh, yeah definitely. That's why the new system is so ass-backwards. It just doesn't make sense to put the 1v1 skill test as a non-objective. At least they give bloodpoints and pip progression though...?

Hey listen
If I run the killer for the whole game, but then I'm facecamped because all the gens are done - in what world does that mean I have less skill than my three teammates who (to their credit) did what they were supposed to do
I get that the objective is to 'survive' but then that's not SBMM that's EBMM.
Glad we agree on that
Hey listen
Running the killer for days is not the objective of DBD.
-
@Brokenbones said:
No
It's not skill based match making, it's escape based match making. That's what I'm gonna be calling it from now on
A survivor playing well and dying so everyone else gets out/getting facecamped to death from the beginning somehow determines they are of lower skill than those who escaped in the match. It's BS
Well, the objective of the game is to survive, so I fail to see how that's "playing well." You died.
However I do agree with the sentiment. It's escape-based matchmaking and frankly is the previous system. Just with less meaning behind the colors.

Thats was a brand new account where they only played Spirit to the MMR cap. The next killer they played had a basr score of 1700 because the only other killer played was 1900. It would of been different if more killers had ratings.
Plus that is just the starting point. That 1700 would go lower on that killer after losing a few matches.
To be fair that might have been the average then.

No, the Killer DCs in this scenario
And the game treats it as you escaped. Therefore, you left while not holding the item.
-
Because you left the match, no fault to your own, without the item.

A killer you've never played before gets the same MMR as your average Killer, so your second sentence isn't exactly accurate. First sentence is though.
Not from what I saw from Scott's videos, but the gap was smaller than I recalled. Some guy datamined some info that Scott talked about and they came up with 200 less MMR on new killers.

it's a bug that happens when the 4th gen pops it makes no sound
It's not only the 4th gen. I have footage on Twitch and just recorded of several generators popping with no sound.
-
The actual rank badge on the far left is 100% irrelevant to their MMR. So what if they're red ranks? They're still not all that great if they go against a killer you've never played as before.

Are you seriously implying corrupt needs a buff
Are you seriously implying that it does anything meaningful in current state? After two minutes it's a wasted perk slot with no reactivation. If you hook someone and they say "f that" and just stick to the gens, then all it does is make your patrol easier while they rotate and still get gens done anyway.

@Mistakesweremade said:
You can actually disable crossplay if I remember correctly, it's at the bottom of the options tab. Tho, let me warn you, you will have a very bad time finding a game.
That depends on your platform. On Steam I disable crossplay when I play killer and get near instant queues. On survivor I enable crossplay to get faster queues.
-
Stop DCing and you won't get locked.

I tend to find the vast majority of trials end up with 1-2 gens remaining at worst before sacrifice and loss, and at best an escape without meta builds. Those perks are strong, but it's an illusion to feel they are needed to avoid being devastated. It's as much about skill and using what I have wisely as it is what perks are used.
At the same time, if someone brings in the offering "Shroud of Binding" and a Bubba approaches, then no God is coming to save me!
Well, all I can say is Dead Hard stops you from taking damage, full stop. Borrowed Time at least gives you a change to get away from the hook, and how the unhooked proceeds is on them. Iron Will lets you be stealthy sneaky, and my 4th is not always meta since I don't run decisive. I typically run Adrenaline, which is still meta but assumes I just won't be in a situation I need decisive, which typically only happens anyway when I'm against a few specific killers. Mostly (aggressive) Wraiths, Slingers, Spirits, Nurses, Huntresses and Bubbas. Everyone else seems to just kind of fall into "I deserved the tag."
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
Agreed. No matter what happens, I refuse to do anything other than play with completely randomized builds, and treat each trial individually.
If someone starts to get caught up in the "They use this meta, so I feel I also need to" will often get caught up in the more negative aspect because they are no longer playing for themselves; they are playing for the enjoyment of others.
Personally I still run meta perks in general on survivor, but I also legitimately find it fun to not get destroyed at 5 gens left. It also helps make chases fun when I don't die super early in.

Go lightborne instead, you'll get better value on 2 torches, they will just pick the items back up, where as lightborne negates it, and when try to blind you you can just swing at them instead.
They get to keep them with lightborn and live or have a ward.

I understand killers' frustrations when they are forced to watch survivors tbag them at the exit gates after they're already tilted enough due to gens going too fast, a killer that they're just starting to learn, or any other reason.
So it wraps back around to they haven't learned to take all experiences as learning experiences. They just get mad they didn't get their way :o
-
@GannTM said:
I get what you mean but it can be hard to not get frustrated when survivors constantly BM and rub a win in the killers face or if killers keep going out of their way to make the game boring for survivors.
But then you can ask yourself "Are they really BMing me? Or did I just get rolled and feel like I got BM'd?"

the wallhack addon he has is 12m, so yes. We I assumed were also talking about when he walks up on walls and sees people through them. Anyone can run BBQ loi

That's how my matches as killer were before the SBMMR was implemented. So nothings changed then? I've only played 3 matches as killer since they added it so I couldn't tell much difference.
Nothing's really changed, no. People just really seem to think SBMM does something at all.

How big mind game it is to find someone with wallhack?
If they're listening to you while you move, they can still respond to it. Your movement isn't silent when you're invisible, and neither is your breathing.

I used to be that way til I started putting actual time into him. He's just a slow burn M1 bully, and frankly I'm ok with that. That's how I play most of my killers, except Nurse. Huntress too if I'm allowed to snowball
-
@R2k said:
Gameplay wise i don't like - Wraith. It's probably easiest killer that requires no mind games. Just pick wallhack addons and run them to death.
As for lore - I'm not a killer fan so nothing interesting there for me.
Wraith is almost entirely mindgames. lmao what?

Slinger already has a gun.

Me and two other survivors died, the fourth survivor remained because they were locker hopping. Then they made noise at the hatch and refused to leave until the killer came over and saw them. They practically helped the killer get a 3k and then gloated about escaping. Why?

4:3 resolution is not the same as stretched! Playing on a 4:3 monitor does not distore the picture it just cuts off the sides.
But DBD has a big problem if you force a 16:9 monitor into 4:3 format it does not cut off the sides like it should do instead it renders more stuff on top and bottom of the screen.
DBD is a non competitive casual game [...]
If its so casual then why are most people abusing every mechanic to win? The sad truth is that this game is for too many people too important.
But I just can't believe this is the thing people are getting so riled up about. An aspect ratio.
If you watched the clip you can see that its cheating. Its long time not about an aspect ratio anymore.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2506104#Comment_2506104
Wow. I have no words. Should we respect rapists next who admit their crimes? You say you dont defend people but your first few senteces litarlly do defend cheaters! Devs said its a not intended and should not give an advantage, which means its cheating. And devs make the rules. Pretty sure they just dont know how to ban people for using it and I hope I just gave them the ability to do so.
I wish so much that BHVR fixes the resolution bug then we WILL see how many liars will return to vanilla resolution because they dont have an advantage anymore.
Playing on a 4:3 monitor is functionally no different than playing at 4:3 on a 16:9 or 16:10 or even a 21:10

"I am entitled to your time, and only care about my experience when playing a multiplayer game."
If that's what you read, I can't control that. However, I signed up to play a game, and sat in the queue, all the same as the OP. We signed the same EULA, agreed to the same rules, and both agreed to sit down and play a game of DBD by hopping in the queue.
So yes, I stand by what I said.
-
But what about people who actually play on 4:3?
-
To be honest, as someone who is not you and may have you in my games, I think the penalty needs to be more quickly ramped up. I do not want DCing players, for any reason, because it ruins it for me.

If you think killers are over powered, you're not in a very high MMR.
