Well in that case the killer is just terrible or lacking brain cells, how can you be baited to hit a snowman 😂
How can killers be baited into punching walls or whiffing M1s?

I'm sorry and I don't want to turn this thread into a "bash on random huntress player" but I really wouldn't use this specific example to prove your point, the player missed very open shots even before Steve reached any snowmen.
I understand you don't like the mechanic, and it's fair, it's basically impossible to please everyone, but at this point it seems like you are reaching to find issues with the snowmen.
I wasn't attempting to bash the huntress, sorry. That wasn't the direction I wanted to go. It's just a direct example of how the snowmen can be used in a clearly not intended way that also does put killers at a disadvantage.

This forum and killer mains call anything an issue. There’s hardly any advantage with them, a hit cooldown is 3 seconds which it wastes, but it takes about 2 seconds to hop in the snowman. That difference is not a game changer and barely affects any chases
So let's just ignore survivors using them as moving shields. Like, I'm going to try using them now as M1 bait instead of hopping in them to see how successful I am.
If I'm not in it, they respawn, right? 🤡
-
Just an extra hit is why we aren't calm. Survivors are using them to play in very not chill ways.

It will respawn randomly on the map, of course, but it's worse than using a tree or any structure to avoid a hit.
I agree it's worse than using a structure, but it's still kind of cheese to randomly put these on the map that can be used as terrain, as well as get out of jail free cards. Let's imagine that the Steve in that video just used them like corners/trees instead of hopping into them. Can we really fault the Huntress at that point for missing all her shots? Or did Steve outplay her at that point by using the snowmen? Because if survivors play that way instead of hopping into them, it's just an RNG shield that the devs added and called an event. It's just shaped like a snowman and can be used as a free hit state.
And frankly isn't fun to deal with as killer.
-
To be honest, this is pretty much tied with hit the survivors through the snowmen anyway. I'd even be ok with making them immune to damage while hopping into the snowmen, since that turns into being on the killer for being impatient.
But like, the current implementation actually really sucks.

Cos there’s no issue to fix, if you’re struggling so bad it’s probably your gameplay that’s the issue
People have been explaining what the issue is. Do you care to try to read aloud some of the arguments against them?

I'm not going to lie, call me a scrooge if you want. I pop a few snowmen when the game starts so I dont have to worry about popping them later on. This gives less snowmen for the survivors and they have to go out of their way to find them.
Believe me there are ways to deal with the snowmen that dont cost a lot of time at all. You could even use your powers to pop more snowmen costumes faster if you wanted. Especially at the start of the game. Huntress can do it, Trickster, Doc, pretty much every killer has a way to deal with the snowmen early on.
They respawn in 15 seconds if you hit them while they're empty. You're just wasting your valuable seconds early on, instead of later.

Yes, the hatchet will break the snowman, empty or not.
So it would protect Steve if he just used it as a hatchet block? That's actually worse than hopping into it, because now it'll respawn.

I know they're not permanent, but it's still 2 weeks worth of these snowy demons
It's two weeks of super ######### survivor queue times because no one wants to play killer in this clown fiesta.

Thats soo far off in compariosn with this. But I guess you cant see this.
Yeah this is actually much worse. Mettle of Man is just one hit and is still hella effective if you can get the stars to align.

@Rizzo said:
This video has been posted already multiple times, it's 5 gens, the survivor basically used all the snowmen in the map (keep in mind they do not respawn if you get hit while inside them) and the real issue there is the Huntress missing most shots, Steve would've reached the loops no matter the snowmen.
Actual question btw. Does the hatchet still get eaten even if she throws it at an empty snowman? Or if Steve hides behind it instead of inside it, will he still get hit if she throws through it?
-
I just had 4 games in a row with all flashlights and 16 meta perks. One was even on a killer I do not play, so my MMR should not have been all that high.
They're playing so chill and enjoying the event though
🙃
-
So does the huntress hatchets ignore the snowmen if no one's in them? Or do they still absorb the hatchet even if they're empty? Because if they still take the hit, then it doesn't matter if she was "missing shots." He's still clearly capable of playing around them.

Can we pls stop this obnoxious complaining about some stupid snowmen?
Can we please stop blindly defending them? It's not balanced, is not fun, is not fair, and is extremely irritating to deal with. Especially when combined with Shadowstep or dead hard.

Wraith with zoom zoom addons, if you're good at body blocking.

Fun for the survivor that's it. Killers didn't get anything event related for this one beside cosmetics. Did you even get any winter related oferring/add on a Killer? You don't. As always you're the toys for the Survivor. Oh you don't like that? Oh my God just chill for two weeks being the toy and deal with it 5head.
I know right? It's like everyone's answer to this is "Don't play the game" like somehow that's acceptable.

I think the problem with a lot of events is that the survivor players get something fun to do and the killer players either get a chore or nothing. Running around in a snowman sounds super fun. Chasing someone in a snowman sounds like there's an extra step you have to do and it's annoying.
Basically this.
-
Well duh, it's just good fun.

You literally can't do anything when in the snowman. If you think it's another objective you've lost it.
Here you go.

Heaven forbid we all have a chill event and a fun time instead of being ultra sweatlords 24/7
I can’t stand this community sometimes lol
Heaven forbid the already dwindling killer population have to deal with another problem.
Yes, it's an event. No, it's not something both sides can "enjoy." If they had made it obvious somehow which snowmen had a survivor inside it wouldn't be so bad.

It's official
People playing this game hate fun.
Next time a survivor jumps in a snowman, dance with them. Maybe the whole gang will join and you can have a conga line.
It's 2 weeks where you don't have to take the game seriously. Enjoy it
Or maybe we define fun differently.
I don't find it fun to have another objective that doubles as a get out of jail free card for the survivors.
-
As someone who slugs and camps because I play for myself (and myself only):
I have no issues with it. I just let people come in for the res anyway, and down them again, like normal. I generally get a free hit before they can do anything with the free getup, because I just hit them and down them again. It's just a safety net that does nothing, since I'm under it cutting holes in it.

Why would you hold W against a ranged character.....bruh she will just shoot you through a wall....
Why would you not look behind you to avoid the slow projectile the size of a semi truck that you can see through terrain?
-
You should secure hooks faster instead.
-
I don't see how people can play with high DPI. I hover around 300 DPI and in-game sensitivity of 50%

Are you seriously upset that people want to play video games with their friends?

Because what's the point in the killer continuing to play when he knows the survivors can just hook bomb and body block everyone out?
So because the survivors are experienced enough to know how to handle a situation you've created, their perks are supposed to be disabled...?
How is that fair?

I don't think the five second stun is overkill or anything. But a five second stun is pretty significant. But that's not where my problem lies with DS. My problem lies with the fact that you can get punished both for playing around it and for playing into it.
May I offer a suggestion and just force disable it?
-
@TAG said:

Killers are expected to simultaneously force DS to avoid having to deal with it in the end game and avoid triggering it to avoid having to deal with it during the rest of the game. "Playing around the perk" means killing Survivors fast enough but not too fast. At that point, it's pretty much just "the counterplay is to beat the Survivor who may or may not have it."
I disagree with too fast. Just burn through it like a Chad.
-
@TAG said:

You told me that not proc'ing DS intentionally is not playing around the perk. That's not anecdotal at all.
It's not playing around the perk though.

The fact that you intentionally punish yourself for tunneling does not mean that it's suddenly not a punishment.
Lemme tell you all about the consistent 3/4k's and how I'm punishing myself, and how I don't have DS in EGC.
Lemme get a book, hol'up.

Am I wrong? DS wouldn't have the reputation that it does if was ineffective at buying the Survivor side time.
I mean, I've said like, several times now that I just tunnel through it. I don't know how else to reword it.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642360#Comment_2642360
It does not work without some degree of incompetency on the Survivor side. If it did, then DS would not be a meta perk by any stretch of the imagination.
lmao ok then.

@TAG said:

1) It did its job. In fact, it did its job in arguably the second best time for it to do its job (with the only better time being at the end once the gates are powered). The fact that it's single-use only doesn't change that.
2) If you're in a position where you can get two downs on the same person without losing a gen, then either that player is bad, you're hardcore camping/tunneling, or both. That's not a point in favor of DS being non-problematic IMO.
I don't see the problem with tunneling through the perk. It does such a great job of preventing it and all. lol. In fact, I think I even opened the conversation saying to/that I just tunnel through it. Glad we agree that works, apparently.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642315#Comment_2642315
Activating it is the opposite of nullifying it. Activating it is making it do exactly what it is intended to do, which to prevent a single hook and heal one health state.
...But now it's out of the game, and ideally around when gen first gen pops, if not sooner.
[edit for clarity]
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642269#Comment_2642269
If the perk is actively designed to disincentivize tunneling, then intentionally forcing its activation is absolutely playing into it.
I think removing it from the game and nullifying it is the opposite of that if you do it as soon as you feasibly can.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642207#Comment_2642207
The fact that part of "playing around it" involves directly playing into it.
I guess we already disagreed on the definition of playing into it, huh.
-
@TAG said:

"disable the perk as soon as you can"
And that is the problem.
I'm sorry, what is the problem?
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642162#Comment_2642162
"And I think completely disrespecting it is also not playing into it."
That is where I disagree. In fact, I would say I disagree with that completely in that completely disrespecting it is the exact definition of "playing into it."
Glad we got that out of the way. I can see we won't agree, because it really is as simple as disable the perk as soon as you can.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642113#Comment_2642113
So the way to play around it is to intentionally play into it.
EDIT: Or to just sit around and doing nothing while gens fly. Am I understanding this correctly? This is the counterplay to DS?
I mean, I feel that denying a DS two minutes into the round is not playing into it. And I think completely disrespecting it is also not playing into it.
Giving them a free DS in EGC because you're afraid to pick them up is playing into it.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642108#Comment_2642108
So how do you play around the perk?
Tunnel through it like a Chad.
[edit]
Or camp the hook if you think they'll have it, or slug them and camp them on the ground.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642001#Comment_2642001
DS shouldn't be a perk that punishes both Killers who try to kill someone too quickly and Killers who try to play around the perk. When "don't let DS activate" and "force the DS activation" are two actual pieces of advice when trying to figure out how to counterplay the perk, we have a problem IMO.
If they make it to EGC with the perk still up then you didn't play around the perk. You gave them a free DS in EGC.
-
@wewantbetterfun said:

they didn't get tunneled all game? well good, they experienced the whole match, it's over, if they die, they die, they shouldn't be able to freely walk at the exit because they are the only one I could get
They should have a killer that can confirm kills, too.
-
So their perk is supposed to be disabled because you couldn't confirm an earlier kill? How is that fair?
-
RPD is one of Nurse's best maps lmao what? Just bring an offering that's not RPD and your problem is solved.
