I thought they locked the FPS since the newer engine update last patch to stop things like this from happening.
Game should only allow up to 120 FPS at the moment.
I haven't played since the engine update on the main PC.. so it is possible that it changed. Have to try it again to confirm if they fixed it!
-
I can confirm that when running the game in 1440p and at a rock solid 200 FPS (I capped it at 200 using Software Riva Tuner Statistics Server) then sometimes it definitely does not work! The same thing happens with some events like when a medkit is supposed to heal you 2 times fully and then deplete, that you sometimes can not get fully healed because the depletion occures like 0.1 % before you are fully healed... Something is very off in that sense...

It's actually not true that the game would go under if dedicated servers were removed. The dedicated servers and the data servers are different things. If the data servers went down permanently, then that might be a problem for the survival of the game, but if the plug were to be pulled on the dedicated servers it would be very easy to go back to peer-to-peer connections just by disabling the dedicated servers again.
I assumed he meant all servers, as all servers are dedicated? :)

People asked for Dedicated Servers, now they're gonna get it.
Should not have asked in the first place.
Exactly. I was from the very beginning (the announcement) of dedicated servers pessimistic because, you know we all know the technical quirks of this game and that they never, EVER can implement dedicated servers in a timely manner in a sense that they just work. They also have to do the Switch version and soon the mobile version, of course the servers were doomed. Normally, you have a team the size of whole BHVR studio only working on servers (EA, Activision, etc.).
Totally understandable the current servers are a big letdown :(
-
Most fun & best: Oni, Ghostface
Just fun, not best: Demogorgon, Trapper, Wraith, Billy, Huntress, Plague
-
The game would end. Servers were needed even before the dedicated ones, for matchmaking, login, anti-cheat, store, etc. They have all the control.
-
This is sadly not fixed so far :(
-
Steve is one of the most quiet survivors currently available. Nancy is average.
-
I also just don't understand. How on earth is it possible that I can play Battlefield 5 von High settings with solid 60 FPS on 64 Player Conquest Large Multiplayer Map... And DBD struggles with frame drops and around 50 to 60 FPS playing at medium Graphics settings. Devs how do you even do this??

Lol you're actually right, this change would probably break Legion again.
Furtive needs a buff so badly though. It was essentially a dead perk on arrival. Maybe if it reduced Terror Radius outside of a chase, like a stackable Monitor & Abuse?
Yeah but I think for now the only use is the obsession change

(Legion main) I like this completely balanced and fair mechanic. *Sarcasm*
I mean it would buff Legion finally too ^^
-
With no terror Radius in chases, you could counter a Borrowed Time save, like Freddy

It can stack, me and @Vietfox use to use it with bond and kindred.
Can you confirm it stacks properly with Kindred? Heard it has a hard cap (bug?)

Open Handed extends aura READING range.
It doesn’t affect object DETECTION range. You have map add ons for that.
Aura Reading and Detection are entirely separate concepts.
Plus, for maps, once an object has been added, you can “read” that object when activating the map from an unlimited range anyway. I.e. if a gen is recorded onto your map, it doesn’t matter how far away you are from that gen. If you activate the map, the gens aura can be read from any distance. So you don’t need Open Handed to extend map aura reading range.
I thought you read the aura of objects through map

Just a lobby without a killer. Nothing special. Just wait and a killer will join! That's new with dedicated servers
-
"normal". Not good, not bad. Dedicated server latency on vomit hurts her the most (visually they fixed it, but most of the time vomit does not hit/register)

We are not planning to buff killers across the board*. We're reviewing things on a case by case basis. Sometimes that'll mean a weaker killer gets a buff (Freddy), other times it'll mean that killers that are too strong get a nerf (Nurse). The Doctor is coming up on our list and will be our next focus.
* There are some thing's that'll help regardless, though. Things like map reworks are going to take some of the problem spots and make them a little bit more fair for both sides. Though this isn't intended as a buff, more so to help with the edge cases where you can get a really good setup or a really bad setup.
One question - is Doctor buffed (or nerfed?) and will his basekit be slightly adjusted or just Addons? Thanks!
-
They won't because the majority of players are survivors and they fear another Steam review bomb, IMO.
-
Of course when I see a 100% swf with map, key and two insta heals. Why wouldn't I? The game is not balanced for this at Rank 1

Hey @Snapshot !
This is part of the interactions we are looking at on Dedicated Servers. We know that this is a problem at the moment and it doesn't work as intended.
Thanks for looking into this!
-
You can also notice it as the Healthbar below the hook status symbol ends glowing fairly quicker, resulting in a few seconds less time on hook. There are definitely situations where that had cost me a last second hook rescue!
-
Yes, this tier list is of course a personal opinion, but I think most people who play on a regular basis get the idea that the large majority of maps are unbalanced
-
The game is primarily killer sided for its small size and lery's is the smallest map of all, but it could be balanced, depending on killer
-
@Peanits please revert this...
-
Why not? It's a very easy Do-it-yourself hook counter...
-
@Mochan said:
Not saying it should be forbidden. Saying it's bad game design. It's one of the main reasons why the survivor population has been decimated, and why killer lobbies tend to take forever.
That is why it's bad for the game.
You acting like it doesn't concern you is wrong. It totally does. Every time you line up for a ten minute killer lobby, you have this facet of the game to blame.
It's also why killers have no right to complain about DS and BT.
And survivors in turn should not complain about Freddy's counter to BT....

The ebony Mori is still unhealthy regardless. And there pretty common to get. Doesn't matter if they don't have infinite amounts of uses like D'S. D's is a anti tunneling perk, Ebony Moris are a "I want this match to end quickly" mechanic. Which one should be looked at or is unhealthy?
I mean not entirely true, beause in 1 minute I can hook 2 survivors and still get DS'ed by a 3rd, without tunneling... soooo
-
Thana prolongs the gens not even for 10 seconds. Is it really that much? I think not. Freddy is a basic M1 killer with some extras. If you can't loop him, you have to learn it. It's 100x easier than going against Clown, even.... Entirely survivor's fault.
-
@Mochan said:
It's biased, but when you consider that this is a game where five people play instead of just using your point of view as killer, you can see the problem.
As the killer you play every game from start to finish. You never miss the game. You always get to play.
But now imagine you're a tunneling killer.
You find a Survivor. Tunnel him. And he dies in a minute. You move on to the next survivor. From your point of view as the killer its nothing out of the ordinary. You're still playing. You have 3/4ths of the match to go.
But for the survivor you tunneled, it's different. From his point of view, he used an item, put on an offering, queued up for a minute to play. Only to die and be denied the chance to play altogether because the killer felt like tunneling and eliminating him immediately.
And make no mistake, that happens a lot. Because killers have the power to do it.
So is this really a good way to play?
Of course not. It's bad game design that the game allows it, but ultimately it's bad for the game.
It's why DS and BT are so prevalent, because these are literally the only tools survivors have to counter this travesty.
Everyone is free to play as he/she pleases. There is NO, absolutely NO rule for Camping, tunneling etc. that would forbid it. Also as a survivor, you basically "signed up" for a game with a killer and have to accept the fact that you are in some situations at the killers's mercy.
-
I still don't know why it is so hard to implement a BASIC algorithm for the rank selection. You don't even need an experienced programmer for that, and I say that as a hobby game dev who has experience with Unreal Engine and the Steam SDK...
-
Voice to text is the best option.

Strange question, but here is the answer:
Because it is extremly boring. 1 guy rotting on the hook, the others rotting on the gens. Guy dies on hook, gens are done and game is over. Pretty much the same with tunneling.
A red mori is nothing more than a DS counter. They already nerfed moris so you need to get hooked once, which is enough. Also moris are burned and cannot be used again, whereas DS is a perk and it's use in every game is "free".
-
@Mochan said:
I'm not talking about that. I'm wondering what the OP is talking about.
Probably means Inner Strength.
@ad19970 Also, two perk slots which EVERY survivor can equip, that makes it in my opinion extremely powerful. You cannot compare the perk slots with the killer's perk slots as the killer should have 4 POWERFUL perks and survivors 4 DECENT perks, which in combination with other survivors (it's multiplayer after all) should be then powerful, but not on it's own, as it is the case right now!
-
No. It would be too strong because every one of the 4 survivors could run it.
Also, how could the killer counter it? Survivors can hide behind gens, in lockers, in range etc. but killer can not hide!

The reason to test with the full player base would be for server scaling and nothing to do with bugs. If it were about bug fixing then they would have enough information on what is bugged to go back and try to fix them. All they changed this round was what server you would go to. Nothing with game play.
They constantly push updates in the background, you don't notice that as no steam update is required. Also most bugs have to do with connection handling, so it makes sense to prolong the test with live connection data from players.

Europe here, zero problems.

because they are not ready yet? many many Dc's, horrible interactions when interacting with pallets, kicking gens, using powers like plague puke etc then there is how the dedicated servers are effecting MMing, had a game that ended due to a DC during loading. it was 6 purple rank survivors (one of them me) vs a rank 20 no perk huntress. if this is what dedicated servers bring then they should never be implemented. they got a long way to go before they are better than the current system
You will have to use them, if you like it or not (there is no option to opt-out)
-
They are definitely enabled right now in Europe.
I think they will test and make adjustments until everything is fixed. Why go back?
-
Thanks everyone!

Demogorgon because it's a monster xD
Nea just has style

Guys, i dont think you understand what he actually means.
He is talking about traps with bugy visibility, so surivor can not see them at all due to glitch/bug.
If this is bannable or not.. i can not tell, but in many games, abusing bugs is in fact a bannable reason.
Maybe a Dev or Mod knows more about this?
I mean it's the game's fault, if it lets you place a trap there, isn't it??
-
Maybe they just want to ask feedback about "the good things", if you know what I mean ^^

Survivor rule book page 6:
You must place Trappers traps on a open spot where survivors can see and avoid them easily.
Oh snap! Didn't read that beforehand...

Not that I'm aware of, but I'm no mod so take it with a grain of salt.
I know when they were hidable back in the dark times in places like the ironworks or exit gates, it wasn't bannable. They typically don't ban for most exploits - they just fix them.
Frankly, as much as people fall for ones that are in plain sight, it seems pointless to have to exploit and hide them though.
Funny thing is, with new PTB update now, there are at least 3+ more spots in the game now, where there weren't before xD I just discovered today^^

Which is interesting because the creed of the people, who follow the developers words to the letter in some cases for very odd, stupid reasons, will say, "Exploits are bannable." Given all traps should be noticeable, and not an intent of the developers to do so otherwise, it behooves me to believe that this is an exploit, and abusing exploits are bannable.
Not gonna lie, that scares me a little :((

Spirits already in the top 3 skill requiring killers in the game so that doesn't really make much sense to me to want to make her more difficult. I'd also even argue it's more skill required having the phase collision and knowing how to manipulate it.
But they also made nurse more difficult now, pretty sure they will also adjust Spirit in one form or another ;)
