I feel like TCM could have competed with DBD if it wasn't so grindy. Like god dang, TCM was way more grindy than DBD.

more account levels and less XP required for perk levels would’ve been nice.

Like trying to use scout at anything less than level 3 was really annoying, same can be said for a lot of the perks honestly, some of them were just worthless until levels 2-3.

  • for me I’m excited for the clean break buff.

It was already a very fun perk to try get value out of and is insanely efficient for gen pressure, additionally it’s one of my favorite solo queue perks because I hate resetting under hooks with no comms.

I kinda miss TCM. With proper, dedicated support, I wager it could have seriously competed with DBD.

can’t believe we never got chop top.

    That would’ve been sick.

    when did vigil get nerfed.

it’s getting nerfed next patch on Tuesday, to only affect exhaustion and it’s dropping to 30%.

I’m pretty the radius is still the same at 16m

yeah surely you are not making excuses for him. So with your nice reinterpretation of the SB+vigil thing, you still can't explain why he is mentioning ghostface alongside freddy and clown in particular? You can counter TRAPPER with vigil as well with your reinterpretation so let's say vigil completely nerfes TRAPPER.

even saying that wouldn’t be outlandish because of trappers hemorrhage and mangle add ons.
I mean bit of a strawman considering no one uses those add ons.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw all mangled, blindness, hinder, expose addons see an uptick now that vigil isn’t a catch all perk.

There are alot of reasons TCM ended the way it did, DBD players are the only ones that claim it was the victims strength because its used as an excuse for how DBD should be balanced. In the TCM community (when people announce they were leaving or why friends left) the reasons are usually the cheaters at the start and how Gun handled the issue, lack of bug fix updates and bugs like the backfill bug thats existed from the start never being fixed, lack of new content and also it being overpriced, Guns overall attitude towards the playerbase, Gun not addressing the rush meta for both sides, and Gun fairly early on (I think it was around the 1 year anniversary) announcing they "couldn't" increase the level cap which let players know that they weren't actually planning to even support the game long term.

Stun lock and bone scraps were both nerfed not long after the game's release, they were some of the rare things they didn't put off addressing. I still log into TCM, I started playing TCM at the start mainly as a solo family/no mic and usually as Hitchhiker (Cook or Sissy if he was taken). According to the in game stats I have 3257 matches played with 1166 as victim and 2091 as family. For family I had 1046 perfect family wins (4k), anytime last victim would DC to end the game it wouldn't count towards that stat. Outside those perfect wins most of my family matches were 2-3k, 0-1k were not very common. As victim I survived 416 times, only 116 were perfect victim wins (0k). Victims could rush escape but family could just as easily rush basement and kill them all just as fast, it was nearly a guarantee if there was a Leatherface with Johnny or Sissy. Most times the rush was a Connie who would rush escape solo and leave the rest of her team to die.

Johnny and Leatherface weren't the only killers that could 1v1, Sissy and Hitchhiker also won many 1v1 interactions because they could go through cracks/crawlspaces. Johnny and Leatherface weren't necessary for a family win either, I had many 4ks with Hitch/Sissy/Cook combo in solo queue/no mic.

Victims weren't weak but they also were not so strong that they were frequently getting clean sweeps either, atleast not in my solo/no mic family matches. The main issue for family (outside cheaters and bugs) wasn't the strength of victims or even victims that rushed, it was the other family members. Family that would leave doors unlocked, turn off car battery/generator, stay in the basement when victims not only had left the basement but had made their way into the battery/generator areas, or family that would purposely door slam other family. The bad teammates are what pushed players away from family and to victim where they could escape solo (and leave their teammates to die).

The overpriced and slow content definitely did it for me, like I bought that pass like an absolute sucker to try and save some money in the long term, but then they straight up cancelled half the stuff that was announced in that.

Still waiting on that hair pack.

Even with crossplay on I was very very lucky with cheaters, only saw 3 blatant ones.

And yeah the devs whole ‘we don’t gaf about the game’ didnt help much, every livestream/announcement was very cringy and killed what little hype there was.

I didn’t care about the whole lobby dodging and wait times thing because I was very patient back then and was just happy to be playing the game. thankfully I’m not streamer who had to entertain an audience for minutes of silence waiting in queue, but yeah I can definitely agree their whole handling of that was abysmal.

The nothing to grind for at the end was very annoying, I found it so hard to believe they couldn’t up the level cap, after I got the plat for the game my drive dropped off a cliff.

TCM may have been a disaster as some points, but I’m glad it happened still sad that it’s ‘gone’. I’m not sure how they’ll handle Halloween, I think I’ll watch from sidelines this time instead of getting invested, I don’t trust Gun and illfonic to actually stick it out for the long haul. They’ll probably pump out Halloween get their checks and dip just like tcm.

I think the mall and terrified may be a bit too soon, with everyone’s wounds still being sore.

Are you sure you're not just entertaining delusion? What you feel and reality can be completely different things.

DbD still has no real reason to improve. It has no competition and it riding that sweet sweet Jason high.

Seriously what points to a Golden Age?

That’s what the whole point of in 1-3 years thing was.

YES I agree the game is bad RIGHT NOW, is has been a slog while bhvr rakes in the millions from springtrap, ghoul, and Jason, but as I said if this is rock bottom than surely there’s nowhere to go but up. What points to a golden age? the graphic overhaul, comm wheel, tutorial overhaul, long overdue perk balancing, server browser/modding.

there’s only so much good sulking can do, I’m not entertaining a delusion, simply being angry and sad for a year 1/2 got boring.

No, his phrase is “Vigil just totally nerfs killers like Ghostface, Clown, Freddy.” He isn’t talking about Sprint Burst here. He specifically lists Ghostface alongside Clown and Freddy, two killers whose powers are actually affected by Vigil.

So it’s super obvious that this person thinks Vigil itself reduces Ghostface’s Exposed duration. Why would you reinterpret that as “Vigil + Sprint Burst indirectly counters Ghostface” when that’s simply not what he said.

I don’t see how anyone is supposed to make excuses for him here. This guy obviously doesn't know the basic facts of vigil and is lecturing others why it should be nerfed.

I’m not making excuses for the guy per say, I just don’t think it’s fair to discredit the whole opinion of one thing got lost in translation. I’d like to give a bit benefit of the doubt.

But yeah if they thought vigil countered ghostface’s expose duration that’s just incorrect, you’re completely correct on that.

That also why I said he was conflating his information, because he likely heard many YouTubers say at some point ‘SB/vigil counters all these killers like ghostface, clown and Freddy and a ton of other addons and perks’ thus parroted the phrase without the context of how it counters those things specifically.

Additionally what leads me to this conclusion is he already brought up exhaustion perks earlier that that comment “most used perks in game and one of most op ones for survivor like sprintburst…” so he likely was already thinking about them in addition to just vigil.

And if we had certain perk specific pick rates in addition to combo I bet the SB/Vigil usage % for both together would very high, add in other exhaustion perks, it’s probably a near ~99% (hyperbole) for vigil to be paired with an exhaustion perk; it’s simply not as common as a solo perk, but just because it isn’t a common solo perk doesn’t mean it’s bad, that’s what lead it’s initial buff in the first place. Bhvr probably saw the low solo usage rates then buffed it making it an even better combo perk (which was a big problem with old bhvr balance and one they still struggle with is looking at perks in a vacuum and not part of 4 slot build, gets even trickier when you add the other 12 perks from the other 3 survivors).

Vigil post buff simply had the best of both worlds, being a good solo perk and great combo perk, while nurturing about 1/3 of the killer addons, a few killer powers, and many many perks for free; them changing it to being just exhaustion keeps its combo with those perks intact, while no longer making it a free catch all shotgun counter to many killer tools.

We HAVE to drop looking at things in a vacuum for the long term health of the game, survivors don’t have 4 perks, they have 16, killers don’t get one slowdown perk then can stack 4 on top of each other and drag the game out 20 minutes. These thought processes is why the game meta feels so stale because nothing is allowed to actually change, lest it upset the status quo.

Have zero idea why an ounce of positivity on this forum is met with that many downvotes lmao

I agree with you almost entirely, the 10 Year Anniversary Stream/Event showcased so many new and wonderful things that we can expect from the game and I truly believe that once we get those modding tools and the total game rewrite in our hands: DBD will outlive us all.

YES, for the DeBbie(D)-Downers in this godawful forum, the Black Banquet sucked and there are overtuned perks for Killers that should be addressed ASAP. But I refuse to let that tamper my joy in seeing Jason get into the Fog, the Judgment and Aurora hit main servers in a few days, and one of my all-time DREAM chapters in the form of Terrifier make it into the game. Pair that with Frank Stone being actualized, the liminal Mall map inspired by the Oldest View, and other goodies, I have total optimism in DBD's future for the first time in YEARS.

Well as a former downer, there’s just nothing worse than seeing something you love be gutted and someone smiling saying ‘it’s perfect the way it is’. It comes off as blind ignorance and consumerism.

While I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m a bhvr glazer, and my trust has eroded over the years I think I’m just at a point where there’s nowhere to go but up.

Try not to hate the downvoters too much the people who actually care with voice their opinions of what the game needs to be better.

I wish I could say I hope you're right but I've played DbD long enough to know it devours hope, so my heart has turned to stone. If I feel anything but apathy, it's usually disappointment. BHVR continually overpromises and underdelivers.

We'll see what the rebalance patch brings. Maybe the game won't be so bad after, but it's not going to magically become great. Will the meta be more fun?

Perhaps they'll give modders the freedom to fix and add fun to the game, and then maybe a period of time will come that can be described as a golden age.

I agree, used to think the same. I hit my rock bottom with the game around the black banquet like most people.

I don’t know what changed, but something DID change, idk the game just feels different.

I mean people can say it can always get worse but I truly think the worst is either already over or almost over.

they always have been in a 1v1 if you choose it to be but the point is 4 working together are supposed to be able to overcome the 1 if they work hard enough, it's called survivor not victim.

We have such resourceful characters on survivor side and barely any of the perk choices enable them to feel powerful in their niche now with all the recent changes, perks are the closest thing we have to entirely change our gameplay.

We aren't supposed to just roll over and take it.

I agree, It should never get to a, “just roll over and take it”, scenario; but there should be a level of tolerance and expectation of not everyone making it out alive which the current playerbase is severely lacking (same goes for people for expecting every game to be 4k if they’re playing trapper. the goal should be 1-3 kills per game for average killer; and maybe 2-4 if you’re sweating or using S tiers). The other extreme is just as problematic, just look at what happened to TCM.

The ‘Victims’ weren’t weak at all either escaping in sub 2 minutes, or going on the offensive keeping half the family perma stunned with doors and bone shivs.

Unless it was leather face already revved or Johnny out in the open, the family would almost always lose the 1v1 interaction. And then throw in the other 3 victims, unless you had all the family on comms ready to guard those objectives like it’s overtime at the championship or an absolute monster leatherface main, most solo queue family games ended in 4 escape loses.
While infinite bone scraps and infinite door slams were eventually nerfed/fixed, the damage was already done.

I can’t speak for how the meta ended up at the end of the game, I quit a little before the graveyard was released and after hands was released; but if I wasn’t going into games as LF or using the OP barge hands build most of my games would’ve been clean sweeps.

I wish more perks that changed gameplay for survivor were better I agree, but vigil/SB/most gen perks don’t change your gameplay just make it faster or easier.
When I think of perks that actually change how you play and affect your gameplay loop I think of stuff like head on, smash hit, balanced landing, dramaturgy, totem/boon builds, deli, shoulder, clean break, exultation, wide open throttle, autodidact, weaving spiders, plot twist, sabo builds, killer aura reveal perks, stealth/scratch mark builds, power struggle/flipflop; these all open up new pathways of play that isn’t the same do gen faster and run to yellow and predrop faster and get endurance and haste for existing.

    Those are my thoughts.

  • I mean it IS a 1v4 asymmetrical game.

Shouldn’t the 1, be a power fantasy? Thats kinda the whole point of the genre.

  • @lovlor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4109839#Comment_4109839

Vigil doesn't affect ghostface's power at all, since the expose from ghostface isn't a status effect whose duration is reduced by time on the right side of the screen. So when you don't even know that basic fact, please stop showing your game understanding to everyone. It's hilarious.

I think he was conflating vigil counters ghostface, with instead SB counters ghostface.

And because SB and vigil are 2 peas in a pod one could come to the conclusion that vigil counters Ghostface.

While they’re not technically right as vigil doesn’t affect the exposed, they aren’t technically wrong either as sprint Burst kinda guts ghostface as you’ll have more than enough time/distance to make it a loop and can start predropping till the exposed timer is up.

Then you can do it all again in 20 seconds thanks to vigil.

idk that’s just how I read it. That’s what makes these things so hard to balance and talk about because while some look at things in a vacuum, at the end of the day the game isn’t like that in the slightest.

  • I still think 2 charges of pebble and you can aim them like snowballs would be cool.

as discussed on a previous buff pebble post I made giving the pebble a stun or small hinder would be fun for all of 2 secs and immediately make killer annoying, and sullies the identity of the perk.

  • I really like that uncommon deer mask.

For some reason I just find it’s size so comical and I have it equipped on my of my survivors because that’s where it looks the most goofy.

  • wait until he finds out about tricksters delusion 😂

  • multiple things can be true at once.

Killer can be simultaneously be in the worst state possible and the best state possible.

When you got killers like Jason, twins, Billy, Dracula wins are basically free and come as easily as breathing.

Same can’t be said for low mobility M1 killers who have to trudge through the 20+ pallets with a slim chance at victory unless they pull out all the stops.

as for queue times I don’t know why they’ve gotten so atrociously bad, like it can’t be THAT hard to fill a 5 person lobby when games half the size fill up bigger lobbies in a fraction of the time. Some say it’s play while you wait, others claim it’s a lack of survivor players, it could be a backend problem, but we just can’t know; we’re at a severe data deficit, only bhvr knows why queues are bad.

Whether they choose to address it or give us an explanation on why they’re bad right now, it completely up to them. Frankly I don’t think they’ll fix it anytime soon considering this and last year have been some of the most profitable times for them.

  • good to see the copied OW 1-1 they by far are the best in the business when conveying information to your team

  • I really like the idea of him in 2v8 because of the aura reading and shadow is pretty fun.

But he’s pretty much a throw pick unfortunately. Hes not much stronger than his base 1v4, and the way 2v8 works already neuters one of his biggest strength being the cages.

I haven’t played him since they fixed it, but a major reason for not playing him for me was the fact he couldn’t shoot through walls on lerys, which was a very common map in 2v8. Might be time to give him another go, but I’ll probably play with a duo, I don’t wanna subject randoms to having a pyramid head without consent.

  • god I remember ptb/launch krasue, it was like they learned nothing from Chucky, well I guess they’re still learning XD

  • As a bi-weekly trapper enjoyer, formerly monthly perkless trapper, buffs on this scale unfortunately just won’t happen.

The stats show trapper as fine to bhvr and he’s so rng dependent, these 2 reasons are why he won’t get touched. They risk making him overpowered on maps that actually have grass and against the casuals who don’t know to look down or go and disable his web.

Unfortunately he just in the sadako, merchant, dredge camp of killers who are good against ignorant people, rng dependent or both like poor dredge.

I hope, pray he gets something substantial, but it’s just so unlikely.

  • I use an off meta totem build for survivor.

Blood moon map, with totem tracking and extra charges.

Perks consist of: inner strength for solo resets, overzealous for gen speed, lend a hand as a soft counter for slugging and good healing perk in general (lowkey broken if your teammates have resurgence), and lastly counterforce to facilitate the rest of build.

Really strong build even if you don’t end up playing against hexes and it isn’t the same boring SB/Lithe second chance build that everyone runs.

For killer it’s a bit more loose and killer dependent, I play a ton of different killers so one build doesn’t really fix.
But my favorite combo by far is furtive/friends and machine learning; then either lethal on strong M2 killers or devour on my M1 killers for that surprise factor. Haste/undetectable go brrrrr

That youtuber is constantly badmouthing survivors, well I don't expect anything else from Sadako mains they all play dirty, most I go up against is like that, they even hump you on the ground for no reason as if they’ve actually accomplished something. Overall I wouldn't trust him he exaggerates a lot, pretty sure it’s not a 42-meter anti-camp range, it’s closer to 30-32 meters

please I encourage you to play sadako in the current state of the game without ‘playing dirty’ and see how much fun you have losing probably most of your games. You don’t understand the struggle of player her right now.

The only reprieve you get on her is if you get lucky and the survivors don’t pick up tapes and maybe the weak link tunnels himself via condemning.

Complaining about a sadako ‘playing dirty’ is on the same level as complaining that a twins slugs it’s kinda ridiculous.

it doesn’t help that the current meta of pre run, pre drop absolutely guts her, unless you don’t have a tape then playing the loop is safer.

I do agree the humping is loser behavior, even if the survivors tbagged first, it’s lame and I don’t condone it.

and if you watched any of his videos you know he never attacks survivors players directly only bhvr and their poor decisions that cater towards one side or the other in an unfair way.

  • I never thought about that, I play on PlayStation I platinumed the game twice on the ps4 and ps5, I usually don’t do new achievements outside of adepts for fun.

Must be annoying to have to constantly keep up with the new added achievements, especially ones like springtraps door grabs, I think I’m sitting at 4-5 right now and most of them were back when he launched.

  • I’d understand a bit if they didn’t add it for killers but at the very least survivors should get this feature at the end of the day survivors are just skins

I'm seeing a massive lack of self-awareness in this thread. Survivor has been eating good for multiple years now, and I'll be analyzing each of your points to prove this.

They wanted dead hard nerfted? They got it. Spine chill, Shane's perk? got it.
Deliverance, sprint burst, vigil? Got it
Soon shoulder the burden, lithe, resilience, balanced landing will be getting nerfs, because of killer complains and spreadsheet will show that those perks are overused.

Dead Hard was completely unhealthy with its dash to the point Trapper was unplayable.
Spine Chill granted free wallhacks and a bonus to vault speed for the low price of being looked at by the killer.
Cross Examination removed all info in chase for simply playing a tile. The perk is flawed by design and should not have needed to wait 3 hotfixes to be nerfed.
Deliverance removes the need for your teammates to get off their objective. Doubling the Broken duration will not change that.
Sprint Burst gives you free massive distance for simply pressing shift w. Losing 1 second won't change much.
Vigil is harmful to perk variety as it shuts down status effect builds and makes Exhaustion perks stronger. If anything, as long as it continues to reduce Exhaustion it will continue to be harmful.

The other perks you want to predict being nerfed is 75% doomposting. Shoulder the Burden is the only one there that needs a nerf. Anyone with a brain will tell you that Shoulder is a busted perk because of how much pressure it removes. The only reason the stats at BHVR don't reflect that is because most of the player base lacks that brain so the perk does more harm than good.

We had anti-tunnel system implemeneted - killers feedback made developers scrape the idea, they got rid of it.
Now killers tunnel and feel good about it. Can't say that about surviviors. They automatically lose a game because killer found the "weak link".

This is where you start talking out of your ass, because you would not be saying this if you actually read those changes.
The anti-tunnel changes of 9.2 completely gutted the Killer's macro gameplay and allowed survivors to win on autopilot because they got adamantium armor off the hook with THIRTY SECONDS of unhook protections and immunity to Killer Instinct (which is exclusive to certain killer powers) with incredibly unhealthy perk changes. Let's not even mention the anti-slug with its additive 90 seconds that gives you permanent Unbreakable, or the fact this PTB made Krasue look way weaker than she actually was.

9.3 was only slightly better because they axed the penalties (that would have killed Sadako and Pig) but it was still terrible because they kept all the problematic stuff that got them that feedback in the first place. You also had updated perks like Babysitter which puts the killer in a lose-lose because chasing either the unhooker or the unhooked means dealing with the 30s of protections and/or a proximity aura reveal. And while I like the BP bonus 9.3 gave unique hooks, it was too small to matter and not enough to dissuade comp behaviors.

I play both roles with a P100 on each side (Steve and Pig) and all I can say about these two PTBs is they could have had a passable update if they just axed the problem points of both these PTBs and fine-tuned the good things in them. Instead, their all-or-nothing approach damaged trust in them because it proved they were perfectly fine spending months of resources on untested changes no one asked for. I definitely want to see members of their QA team on their dev streams some time because neither of these PTB's proposed changes should have made it past them.

Surviviors feedback about problematic killers doesn't seem to matter for a long time now.
Nurse, Kaneki and Jason destroy lobbies without a problem.

Jason is going through the cycle of "new killer OP because I have to use my brain" that the sub-100hr Twitter players like to perpetuate. He is not problematic in the slightest.
Kaneki is the most enjoyable of the S tiers because he only punishes shift w compared to the others who have very little counters.
And just as a solid reminder: Nurse has been the strongest killer ever since she launched, with Spirit and Krasue being the only ones to challenge that position. BHVR didn't want to properly address god loops back then, so they released a killer that ignores them and every single other obstacle on the map.
The main two reasons she has evaded nerfs for so long are:

    1. Because BHVR mainly balances based on stats, Nurse is actually underperforming in their eyes.
    2. Having your strongest killer available to play right out the gate helps avoid the accusation that the game is pay to win.

I'm certain everyone has a killer they'd rather play instead of Blight/Nurse/Ghoul but they don't because they've been shafted at every corner thanks to the current stale meta and pallet density. If you make someone choose between kicking a dozen pallets to down one Meg or just ignore those pallets and get the down way earlier, guess which one they'll pick?

Basekit BT is being shortened - something that helped us a lot when killer went for immidiate tunnel.
We could make distance to a better loop, giving us a better chance.
Not everyone was using that offensively.

10 seconds is still enough time to make it to an exit gate. You also get Elusive during that same period now.
And just because not everyone was using that aggressively doesn't mean no one was using it aggressively. It has been proven time and time again, especially with the 80 seconds you used to get from Off the Record, that when you give people extended periods of protection from death in a PvP game, it will be used aggressively.

Surviviors are DCing, giving up against their disliked killers. Making everyone have bad experience.
But we still didn't decide to think why that happens.

Survivors have DC'd for far less than facing a killer they dislike. I've has people DC on me when I just wanted to farm BP on Pig/Dracula. Another time I had a Mikaela DC within the first minute of the match because a Trapper downed them first and blamed it on me for wasting time even tho I was on a gen outside of his TR at the time. Hell, a person spent the past four months regularly commenting on my steam profile saying my mother should have aborted me solely because I chose to go through the exit gates instead of saving them and their two buddies who were all hooked in basement against a NOED using Lich.

Keep in mind that even with having legal cheats in the Black Banquet, survivors did not change. They still lost most of their matches, they still DC'd, and they still complained. At what point does catering to a crowd who just wants to win all their games on autopilot become the worst option you could make?

wasting 4 months of your life to hate on someone in their steam profile is such a loser thing to do.

    I pity that poor soul.

    Only in dbd

  • To list off some of my favorites, the gen trap perks, no one left behind, clean break, chem trap, bada boom, a place for us, autodidact, strength in shadows, bite the bullet, smash hit, exultation, second wind, overzealous, all of these I really hope don’t get reworked as they’re perfect in my eyes although number tweaks or additions could be nice.

Killer it’s definitely a bit harder as I’m less attached to their perks a whole and niche perks are even harder to justify using, but I seriously think anything action speed related and haste perks got done so dirty by diminishing returns and hope they make a comeback.

It’s tough with niche things in online games, like it’s a sad thing to see people belittle and undervalue certain things, but it also sucks when devs buff those things into relevancy either sacrificing the charm it had, or now everyone calls you a meta slave for using stuff you’ve been using well before it was mainstream.

It really doesnt. According to Killer Mains at least. When Event Modes are killer-sided, the first thing Killers say is that they are just fun gamemodes which are not supposed to be balanced.

Then there is one time where a survivor-sided gamemode (10th anniversary) is around and THEN it is a huge issue? Come on.

People like you cannot just discard favouring one side as "Just a gamemode, you dont have to play it" and make it a huge problem when it favours the "wrong" side at the same time.

well I would mention if events affected things on the killer side, but they don’t more often than not.

The only thing that comes to mind is the void and haunts from the Halloween mode being inspiration for the judgements exile and Vecna 1 skeletons.

I sure I missed something. I would genuinely be interested to find out what got added from previous events to killers, may it be power inspiration or perk inspiration.

this isn’t me defending killer sided events or attacking survivors sided ones, I was just pointing out that the events can and DO have an affect on the regular 1v4 game, it just happens when things get implemented from an event it tends to be implemented for survivors, which would make sense considering killers have entire power and add ons going for them already.

edit: I guess we can probably throw in event items and add ons too, blighted serum was pretty busted on some killers back in the day and even more so on survivors with old syringes, survivors also got firecrackers (eventually made into flashbang), and generally the event items are all the best versions of the item for cheap, some event get bonuses; like the blood map from blood moon is super nice because on top of facilitating totem builds and the everything else it does, you basically get empathy for free which no other map gets and it’s been my best friend considering all the hex builds running around.
All of these you could freely use in the regular 1v4 game which did, and still does to a lesser extent, inherently affect balance.

Lol, dude don't act like a temporary and optional event matters for game balancing.

read my response to the other guy, it does matter and I’m tired of pretending otherwise

  • At least on Jason I’ve gotten substantially less death threats than playing the tall Brazilian woman.

I’ll take what I can get at this point

People talking about DBD as a whole and you're going to point at side modes as a counter-argument?

Not to mention that Chaos Shuffle just pulled parity between the sides, since it made little sense to leave survivors with full random (Lol @ No Mither) but then give killers bad-luck-protection.

    no mither simply isn’t comparable.

Not only is it far more uncommon to pull, it has tangible benefits aswell to its huge downside. And it doesn’t directly affect the survivor gameplay loop, as some add ons change the playstyle altogether. Getting no mither just means you have to play a little safer around loops, it doesn’t affect your repair process, or ability to play the game normally.

Lots of meme add ons either have 0 benefit, or don’t work unless paired with a specific build/map/another add on, there’s simply too many variables. Comparing one perk to a many number of different killer powers is simply a false equivalency at best, and a straw man at worst.

and hate to be that guy, but “dbd as a whole” includes side modes and events🤓☝️. When you say dbd as whole I expect you to be talking about the actual whole game. The side modes can have a tangible impact on the game and the things added to it; just look at fog vials, which originated from the Halloween event and put into the main game. Chaos shuffle itself was implementation after serious demand when they started doing those random perk quests. Pallet rebuilding was implemented as a perk with apocalyptic ingenuity (perk is still garbage please buff bhvr) after party pallets from anniversary event and pallet rebuilding from 2v8.

As a side tangent, I have 0 proof of this except a general feeling around it, chaos shuffle at least when it comes to perks isn’t ’truly random’. A lot of times it felt like they gave me complimentary builds, or if you got one perk there was an increased chance to get another synergistic perk. In past chaos shuffles I’ve more than once rolled no mither and invocations which are very nice paired together, or If I got kindred I was more likely to get other hook related perks. Again 0 proof of this just an anecdotal feeling.

  • I’m all for the thrill nerf, it’s been overtuned since it got buffed in 8.4.0.

Killers like houndmaster with scream add on, pig with face the darkness, singularity, trapper(rng dependent), demo, hell any high mobility killer were incredibly strong with a full hex thrill build.

If no one had counterforce (which is likely because people sleep on totem builds so much) and the killer played the long game it was nigh impossible to get anywhere, even more so if a penti was put up, doing gens through penti is some Garbo.

It’s a shame it took a strong killer and popular YouTuber to finally show people everything wrong with thrill but hey that’s just a regular Tuesday at this point.

  • ’ugh this game is so killer sided smh’

We, objectively, just had THE most survivor biased game mode in history which only a handful of killers were good (but still boring in).

Chaos shuffle and lights out are returning with changes that only serve to screw over killers that have meme add ons (padded jaws trapper being an example for chaos shuffle) or in the case of lights out giving survivors free windows of opportunity essentially nullifying the point of the event and breaks the dark spooky immersion of the game mode.

But yeah let’s push the narrative that killers get what they want all the time while ignoring the facts, like a certain tall Brazilian woman getting soft removed from the game for over a year because of all the complaining surrounding her from people who’d rather DC than actually learn to play.

Tbh I see it same, they kind of give no interest to low picked killers and only give them good skins at best. Hoping to boost their pick with nice skins but buying nice skins is expensive and doesnt change the reason why that character is so low picked it more looks like they want to keep mains of that killer to not drop them with skins that bring other people to play them.

Artist suck with how easy is to get rid of crows by just jumping into locker it kills her map pressure, then she gets screwed by maps with multiple floors or uneven maps like swamp and lastly the hpurple hands addon is must because for some reason crows dont swarm survivors basekit like larrys traps. Artist is good killer but very skill demanding especialy with the fsct you must hit two times in row to do something but she is even better at using crows to cut down loops.

Survivors should pray many killers dont play her same with twins. If survivors hate knight for his easy downs on bad loops well artist is kind of different animal at this.

Yeah I used to like artist a couple years ago but then just kinda got sick of it, unknown has just come out effectively killing any reason I had to play her, she’s still very demanding, still railed by map rng, and just feels old/clunky like why would would i play artist, when I can play unknown who doesn’t ‘require’ purple add ons, has a cooler potential ceiling with mortars and bounce shots, has better map presence (4.6 with tps) and isn’t affected by map rng. In fact you could say it’s a benefit to unknown as a couple poor maps actually open up a lot of outplay potential.

As an example dead dog main building can be very hard for artist because of the multi floors, and she can struggle to get bird hits because it’s hard to force survivors back into one and m1s are nigh impossible due to 4.4. While unknown can set up hallucinations in advance and the walls are very thin leading to many UVX hits if survivors don’t run wide which isn’t as distance efficient leading to easier m1s

another problem with artist is she just suffers from the first impressions from years ago, people still see her as the snooze fest hold W away from loop or die killer (while that can be still true at times there’s so many things we’ve discovered since like shotgunning and staggered birds for snipes) SM, singularity, twins, knight, trickster kinda, all suffer from this to a certain degree.

  • the only changes they’re gonna do to artist is give her another hell/devil themed skin

    Are you serious right now?

I couldn't do GENS because of his 4hex build.
I couldn't keep rescuing because they were throwing.
This means that despite my best effort to get a gen done, and heal, and unhook, and keep myself alive not a single gen could get done by me just as a SOLO because of the oppressive 4hex Jason build and my team.

This means that I was punished unfairly by other players lack of skill and the two colluders.

Please use the deeper part of your brain to analyze what is being said please.

If you’re having that big of a problem with hex Jason because it’s so popular use an overzealous/counterforce

I’ve been running lend a hand/inner strength/OZ/CF for the better part of 2 weeks and it’s been great, I even used to use it back in the day when thrill got buffed and it’s still the build is strong, highly recommend. You can also replace lend a hand with like calm spirit or hardened to counter face the darkness and scream users, doesn’t work on Jason though unfortunately.

and as a response to your comment to me, as I said, If he didn’t kill the teamer then he deserves punishment I don’t have a problem with that.

  • said this on another post but,

You will get padded jaws and you will like it.

  • this is a survivor mentality problem.

It’s definitely on those trolling survivors and they deserved to get banned, but trying assert blame on the Jason as well just reads as childish. All he’s doing is taking advantage of a favorable situation.

While it does make him a bit scummy, as long and he killed everyone by the end then what’s the harm? If he ended up letting the trollers go then yeah I fully agree he deserves some punishment as well.

I follow a similar policy. If a survivor is intentionally sandbagging, I’ll go for them first, but next time I see the sandbagged survivor its on sight, no special favors. While I empathize, I’m not about to start throwing just because 1-2 survivors wanna farm/gave up and are trying to troll.

BHVR couldnt balance a peanut butter sandwich correctly let alone a video game. I doubt they even look at things put together instead of a vacuum

that’s why hyper focus, stake out and lend a hand are ‘fine’ in their eyes. Because the data shows regardless they’re ‘balanced’, because the data doesn’t take into account perk combos.

    Maybe I’m being a bit silly, but isn’t a perk coutering one (1) of Jason’s add-ons… okay?

I was definitely being a bit hyperbolic mentioning vigil.
but even without vigil a 3 second exhaust is nothing, you can easily walk/hold check spots to get your exhaust down.

plus if vigil is in play, that counters so many other options on a large amount of killers across the board.

You are probably right. Lithe is actually a slightly stronger perk for me, but I think it's fair to say BHVR won't be nerfing any exhaustion perks because of SoloQ players like me. All it's doing is taking away yet another perk that I like to play with.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4101673#Comment_4101673

Low mobility Killers have other things in their toolkit meant to offset a lack of mobility and to help them cut down chase time, though. That might be a ranged attack like Huntress. Or it might be stealth that allows you to sneak up on Survivors + a dash attack like Chucky / Pig or stalking ability like Myers / Ghostie to shorten the chase. Trapper and Skull Merchant want to push Survivors into their set ups and don't care too much about exhaustion while Sadako can use her TVs to catch up or cut off escape routes. There's also Mindbreaker, which is a pretty solid anti-exhaustion perk. I know it feels bad to have to run a perk to counter this or that in the game, but that's how DBD currently works and how we've told the devs we want the game to continue to work.

Lots of these Killers can struggle at high MMR but I think that's more to do with the higher percentage of SWFs playing at that level, who can negate a lot of these tools and strategies while generally playing more efficiently. But Entity forbid we ever do anything to nerf SWFs, BHVR would rather continue to ignore that elephant in the room.

I'm just tired of balance changes that make my experience worse while never really touching what I think is probably the biggest obstacle to actually balancing the game (e.g. BHVR continually fighting fires trying to balance around the strongest possible SWF using outside tools to communicate with + whatever their current meta load out happens to be).

Players just want to get decent value from their perks. I feel like that's not too much to ask for. It's not like anyone is suddenly going to start using Thalita's perks now that SB is getting a nerf. The same goes for any other terrible low pick perk in the game. I think it would be a better idea to buff more perks to give players viable alternatives and play styles, so we see certain perks a little less often.

(I do understand some of the other nerfs, however. Vigil probably needed a nerf. Thrill mitigated the gamble of running a hex build a little too much and while Coulrophobia was maybe fine on its own, it's promoting a slug heavy play style that they don't want to encourage).

    well said completely agree.

I just wish everyone would stop freaking out so much, vigil/SB have been hard meta for years. I’m not saying to gut them permanently, we can always just buff them back up once swfs and bad killers are finally addressed.

they will probably get buffed again relatively quickly anyway because they’re so popular, when bvhr kills stuff off for years it’s usually things people actively didnt like/aren’t very popular.

    against non-mobility killers

For me this is always a pretty bad argument. Because even if Sprint Burst will be nerfed, this does not mean that people will suddenly play their non-mobility Killers. Why should someone who plays Jason, Ghoul or Blight suddenly stop playing those Killers? Only because Sprint Burst gets nerfed does not mean that someone suddenly wants to play Trapper or Hag.

And if I look at my games, I almost never go against non-mobility Killers. So for me, if I would be using Sprint Burst, it would be nerfing a balanced Perk (according to your words).

The problem with non-mobility Killers are the Killers themselves.

I think it’s a perfectly valid argument, me personally I am a big fan of trapper and the games I get whooped in it always against people who pre run with sprint to safe non-trapped areas so committing would be an awful idea.

With this nerf not only will I play more trapper, I won’t feel as bad committing to someone sprint bursting away because I know they aren’t gaining as much distance as before. Same applies to other low mobility characters, I’m definitely gonna be playing a lot more ghostface, SM, and trickster for sure.

Now this is just me personally but I highly doubt I’m alone in thinking this way, there’s so many different killers in the game that are people’s favorite that SB/Vigil completely guts. People will get bored of playing the same killer over and over again, it happens all the time unless it’s a content creator whose job it is to main that one killer.

like you said it’s more of killer specific issue, but I don’t envy bhvr’s position when it comes to buffing bad killers, because sometimes what they’re going for not everyone will like, an example being myers. Was the solution really just giving a dash? Idk. I’d rather them deal with the easy problem now being vigil/SB, and when back killers finally get looked at they can be buffed again.

And if blight didn’t just get nerfed I’d fully agree with sprint burst needing to stay strong. But now we have Jason so I don’t know how much that narrative holds up. Idk I just bhvr needs to do a big shake up of everything, because at this slow of a pace with so little changes happening, lots of stuff gets left to to wayside either not used at all or festers into something bad later.
