A Golden Age
I’m ready for this take to age milk but here goes. I can totally see DBD entering a golden age within 1-3 years.
While the last 2 years have been a bit rough for us veteran players and questionable balance choices left and right; bhvr is starting to make strides towards the long term finally.
Blight finally got nerfs that affected him, Jason’s kill rates are leveling out, they’re nerfing thrill, nowhere to hide, vigil and SB, we’re getting a massive perk balance patch soon, they’re finally looking at perks outside of a vacuum. While things suck right now with both sides of the player base at each other throats and queue times being awful due the survivor shortage, I believe we’re about to see a renaissance of players who adapt and show tolerance to the game (it may sound incredibly naive, but it’s how I genuinely feel right now)
I think we need this shake up, to force the bad apples out so we can start anew, and then once that graphics overhaul hits and custom game browser is implemented, and that new tutorial system & comm wheel (chefs kiss btw) I see nothing but potential.
Again while things are rough right now, I’m sure it’ll all be worth it soon, call me crazy, but I’ll take necessary evils in the short term if it means more long term health any day, I can deal with a few slugging ghouls and hex Jason’s for the time being.

I think the golden age will begin once we hit The Mall or The Terrifier chapter comes out, as by then we will have received tons of perk changes and an overall meta shakeup along with a new map and killer.
If that's not when it starts then it most definitely starts when modding releases.

I feel the game is heading for its "just getting started with the good stuff" stage seeing the graphics rework and code rewrite etc.
Golden age for me would be either after a castlevania chapter 2 with Shanoa or she ends up a legendary atleast lol.
But yea next year is going to be the most different dbd has ever been, where all the things we are hoping they'll do, are actually happening.
Fnaf chapter 2 would be golden age as well and the ability of the second animatronic killer would be much better.
A golden age is unlikely because people want different things from DbD. It might enter a period where you are most happy with it, just as there are people who think DbD was best right before 6.1, or right after the end of the gen kick meta, etc.
Just pray that we do not end up like Berserk where the Golden Age is followed by an Eclipse like catastrophe.

I agree with you almost entirely, the 10 Year Anniversary Stream/Event showcased so many new and wonderful things that we can expect from the game and I truly believe that once we get those modding tools and the total game rewrite in our hands: DBD will outlive us all.
YES, for the DeBbie(D)-Downers in this godawful forum, the Black Banquet sucked and there are overtuned perks for Killers that should be addressed ASAP. But I refuse to let that tamper my joy in seeing Jason get into the Fog, the Judgment and Aurora hit main servers in a few days, and one of my all-time DREAM chapters in the form of Terrifier make it into the game. Pair that with Frank Stone being actualized, the liminal Mall map inspired by the Oldest View, and other goodies, I have total optimism in DBD's future for the first time in YEARS.
I wish I could say I hope you're right but I've played DbD long enough to know it devours hope, so my heart has turned to stone. If I feel anything but apathy, it's usually disappointment. BHVR continually overpromises and underdelivers.
We'll see what the rebalance patch brings. Maybe the game won't be so bad after, but it's not going to magically become great. Will the meta be more fun?
Perhaps they'll give modders the freedom to fix and add fun to the game, and then maybe a period of time will come that can be described as a golden age.
I really hope BHVR manages to find a middle ground between keeping the game a gem and improving it with QOL, fun new features and interesting chapters.
I love this game and this community. I want it to thrive and do well, but we've been burnt so often lol
I agree, used to think the same. I hit my rock bottom with the game around the black banquet like most people.
I don’t know what changed, but something DID change, idk the game just feels different.
I mean people can say it can always get worse but I truly think the worst is either already over or almost over.
Well as a former downer, there’s just nothing worse than seeing something you love be gutted and someone smiling saying ‘it’s perfect the way it is’. It comes off as blind ignorance and consumerism.
While I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m a bhvr glazer, and my trust has eroded over the years I think I’m just at a point where there’s nowhere to go but up.
Try not to hate the downvoters too much the people who actually care with voice their opinions of what the game needs to be better.
For me, the last couple years have been both the best and the worst of times to be playing DBD. For every positive change they've made that made me jump for joy, they've done something equally terrible to make me want to uninstall the game forever and drop kick my graphics card into the sun.
So… Pretty much the same as usual, I guess. With the upcoming graphical update, I'm not even sure I'll be able to play the game in the not so distant future. So whatever the future holds for DBD, I'm not sure I'll be coming along for the ride. If it comes to that, it's hard to be too optimistic about that.

DbD still has no real reason to improve. It has no competition and it riding that sweet sweet Jason high.

2027 will make or break the game. If the modding tools are trash, if they "Operation Health" the code and graphics overhauls, this game will be cooked.

YES I agree the game is bad RIGHT NOW, is has been a slog while bhvr rakes in the millions from springtrap, ghoul, and Jason, but as I said if this is rock bottom than surely there’s nowhere to go but up. What points to a golden age? the graphic overhaul, comm wheel, tutorial overhaul, long overdue perk balancing, server browser/modding.
there’s only so much good sulking can do, I’m not entertaining a delusion, simply being angry and sad for a year 1/2 got boring.
