False. Jaded killers, who are also very good at the game because, you know, these are not mutually exclusive concepts, will BM survivors as payback for the injustices they have and still receive simply by virtue of being a killer.
And I am positive there are jaded but good survivors who play the exact same way.
I've never seen an experienced or skilled player do it. the ones who do it exploit everything to scrape by their kills...

Different game. In this particular instance a Plague downed a Meg then went looking for me. I got caught healing the Meg, who got downed again immediately, they chased me around, downed me, then just stood there. Watching. Eventually the Meg DCd and I bled out on the ground.
If thats the case they're just not confident/competent. Nobody who is good at this game bothers to BM (tbagging at gates or slugging to bleed out etc). Its just for those that dont usually make it to the end and I find that hilarious. Can you imagine how badly the majority of their matches must go that they have to act like that the few times they get a win!?

I don't get it. Is the extra kill that important to you? I think that's bad enough but what is with killers who slug the last guy just to watch them die on the ground? Why? What's the point? How is that fun for you? Standing there for however long while the survivor bleeds out?
I do no get it.

If you nerf DS and BT, there is no counter to tunneling.
If you nerf UB, there is no counter to slugging.
It would be absolutely insane to nerf those perks unless the Developers also nerfed Tunneling and Slugging, which I'm all for. Get rid of Tunneling and Slugging and the meta changes. It's not survivors choosing these perks, it's Killers choosing these perks for survivors.
Yeah a lot of people don't understand that all survivor meta perks (except exhaustion) are bandaid fixes for flawed gameplay mechanics...

My guess is that DBD created the models for the game. The license owners could have just hired some 3d artist to create the pinhead models, but since the models were already done for DBD, they just reused those.
But thats not what happened. BHVR have said they worked with Boss Protocol over several months to adapt the models' specifically for use as NFTs.

And what's the problem with that? If someone for some strange reason wants to buy it, let them buy it. Is it your money? Why do you want to tell someone else how to spend their money?
Its not the "money" aspect that has people irked. Its the impact that "currency" has on this planet. If it was simply someone forking over $1,000 for some crap nobody would care. Its the effect this has on the planet and that BHVR is endorsing the companies creating this mess and working with them.

If you DO buy the NFTs, they won't get money from you. That's just not really the point being made.
(Though, to their credit, they never did lie about it, rather they were a little evasive in their first few tweets.)
Going from:
"When we work with our licensing partners, we provide them with in-game models as well as Chapter keys. They are free to use these however they see fit as the rightful owners of these characters"
to
"Behaviour worked with Boss Protocol over several months to adapt in-game models for use as NFTs and approved them prior to the release"
Seems like a lie to me. They didnt just provide them with in-game models. They worked with them for several months to adapt the models for NFTs. Thats not a misdirect. Thats 100% a lie.
-
I mean this whole thing as shown how willing they are to lie to our faces about NFTs if it means they can get more money from us

I agree that it’s a stupid waste of resources. What I don’t agree with is singling this one out - unless you live a very environmentally conscious lifestyle, in which case you have a right to complain. However, I’m willing to bet most people here complaining don’t fit that description.
I think everyone has the right to complain when a person/organization is destroying OUR planet for no reason.
Its OUR world. WE have every right to try and protect it.

why though
you would be happy to see steam take money away from over 300,000 players
20$ plus all cosmetics, rift passes, dlc, cells, and all the ranks and limited items earned
if they don't do something fast we steam players will lose all of are stuff
I would have rather it not come to this but its gone too far. BHVR arent the indie company they were when they started. They've joined the ranks of the triple As who are willing to sacrifice the planet for a quick buck.
I've put in as much into this game as anyone. I have bought all the chapters, rifts, and a tonne of cosmetics. But they're gone too far.
-
@bm33 said:

If u ask me, banning a game like DBD from Steam after their stupid move will make a great example to those upcoming games if they'll ever want to follow trough with such similar plans.
Aka, banning DBD will make a fine example.
I would love to see Steam take a strong stand against this.
-
BHVR are aware they can get banned from Steam for this (and I hope they do).
This is likely why they have been communicating with Epic as Epic have stated they have no morals regarding NFTs.

To be fair, the only circumstance under which tunneling doesn't take skill is if you are tunneling a bot. Not my fault the survivor is easy to tunnel when they have a whole map of resources.
I'd argue with the "a whole map of resources" part. I assume if you have them down they either made a bad mistake or had no resources available in the area. Either way, theres no sport in tunneling them. To me its the equivalent of someone going hunting in the zoo.
-
I mean you've just listed why people tunnel. This isn't ground-breaking. It's easy and skill less which is what people have a problem with.
Also none of what you listed is the survivor "exploiting" anything. Those are the base mechanics. To imply being healed by a teammate is the survivors "exploiting" anything is new though

There is no fight against cheaters at BHVR. They view them as legitimate customers. Best thing we can do is support other games when they come out and hope for competition.
Would it not be better for BHVR, from a financial perspective, to ban the hackers though? They would keep the revenue the had spent on the game. And if they need another account to hack with, or play normally, they've already doubled their profits! If the continue to ban these hackers as new hacks are discovered they have a fairly large and regular flow of money.
The only thing really stopping them is either laziness or apathy...

I think theres a lot more incentive to escape as survivor than to kill as killer at the moment. That 5-7k makes it worthwhile. Plus its easier to play survivor anyways. As killer the point difference for a 4k vs an 8-10hook game is negligible. Killers can play at lower mmr with no stress if they wish and lose little to nothing to do so.

But it is also toxic for survivors to body block the killer. Devs do not want this, have you ever seen the report button in a game? it lists body blocking as a reportable offense, it is to not be encouraged or promoted for anyone by them. Its why this study is soooo valid http://gamestudies.org/2004/articles/deslauriers_iseutlafrancestmartin_bonenfant body blocking is discussed and some statistics for it.
Survivors body blocking the killer is not reportable/bannable though. The killer can just hit them.
Even the devs have specified that bodyblocking is only banable when used to hold the game hostage. The killer is also allowed to bodyblock survivors during EGC to ensure the kill as its for a defined and limited time. Same with pig body blocking a survivor with an activated trap. Some consider it kind of a dick move but its still allowed.
-
Please tell me you didnt give them that key or DC! I'd have died to EGC with the key in hand before I let them take it!
-
I remember seeing a post where someone suggested that collision should be lost when crows appear. This would work for both killer and survivor body blocking. And also difficult to abuse.

Plenty of survivors escape all the time without second chance perks.
I think the difference is that the killer doesnt know they dont have them... If there were no second chance perks in the game then you would see the difference

Shoulda put a TL:DR here...
But to answer your Question? Simply put... survivors can stack multiple second chances which results in 6-9 health states,
and you gotta get 12 hooks in a span of 10 minutes or less... Plus you can spawn on their hexes. making it worthless in the end,
I dont really get the hate for second chance perks or how they auto give health states.
Second chance perks are bandaid fixes for flawed game mechanics or playstyles which are widely considered "unfun". DS and BT for tunneling and camping, UB for slugging, etc. The only one which I can see as being remotely a "free health state" is DH and even that is easily baited once you know they have it. And yes it can be used for distance but only once like every other exhaustion perk - though DH gives the least amount of distance at that...
TL:DR - I dont camp, tunnel or slug and never see BT, DH or DS and if I am forced to proc them its rare and ends very badly for the survivors...

Honest question. Do you think this will cause friction between players who still want to cleanse totems for things like inner strength / points?
I really enjoy cleansing totems, so if I'm not running a boon perk myself, I am really worried I'm going to get a lot of hate for cleansing. This is why I'm not really looking forward to boons coming out.
I cant see it being a problem. You probs will cleanse a totem anyway before you see a totem is booned. If a totem is booned you'd obvi be better leaving that one.
CoH will probs give more heals than I.S. but I.S. would be better for fast heals in a pinch - esp if you cant cross the map to the boons radius.
Then again... I could be wrong...

But CoH was also nerfed considerably before it goes live. Pre-nerf it was extremely strong.

I’m advocating for an FoV slider. If you have motion sickness with high FoV, you can reduce it to your liking.
So if we have a FoV slider with the max at its current setting we'll all be happy! I have no issue with this then! 👍

All killers can hold their own at high mmr. it's the player that makes the difference. play what you enjoy and don't worry about anything but enjoying yourself.

Hatch doesn't affect MMR.
I just meant that's how I had always played. I apologise if I implied that would directly effect MMR. Gate escapes do effect MMR. You can close the hatch and then let them leave that way. Or if you down the last while second last is on hook, bring them to hook for save. Again, I've already won at that stage. I don't really care what way the round wraps up. It doesn't matter to me. It does, however, matter to the survivors I show kindness to...
(Note: Does not include Bills. They will say "ggez get rekt" after you close the hatch and carry them to the exit to leave. Terms and conditions do not apply)

It’s helpful but not worth a perk slot. I don’t think anyone on this forum has ever thanked Shadowborn for helping them in the game. Sure, there are times when you’ll see Survivors out of the corner of your eye, but how often does that really happen?
I mean I will always have it equipped on my Nurse. Having the FoV during fatigue is amazing on her. It obviously doesn't have the same benefits on all killers but I'm not about to say it doesn't make a difference.
If reducing the FoV was proven to help with motion sickness would you be as keen to reduce it?
-
I just don't understand how their own characters, perks and mechanics get blocked by their system... Its shocking
-
I wonder if this is connected to the intermittent chase music I've been having? It wouldn't surprise me if the game detected chases via fresh scratch marks and with them being intermittent the associated chases are considered intermittent?

It’s higher FoV. How would it in any way throw off the game’s balance?
Being able to see more would be an advantage...?
-
The main issue with limiting survivor perks is that the best survivor perks are bandaids for flaws in game mechanics. If killers KNOW there only one DS or one BT then nothing will stop them from tunnelling. Only one person can have UB? just slug.

If I said something from a survivor point of view about a killer. Most of you guys will be in agreeance. So you are quite amazingly hypocrytical.
Literally no one, not a single person here, other than you, have said youre moaning. Literally nobody. Everyone has tried to speak with you respectfully and you keep saying similar things "you say i'm moaning" but literally nobody has said that.
It is quite commonly known and agreed upon that this is a primarily killer-centric forum. The fact that most people arent agreeing with you is somewhat telling...
Finally, a lot of people play both side, not just you. Youre not a unique and magical unicorn if you play both. Youre dismissing EVERYONE that says they play both/killer and disagree with you. Youre calling them liars and insulting them and their skill. This is not the appropriate way to ensure civil discourse.
You are in Discussion on the Forums. People dont have to agree with you to discuss this. But you do have to be civil and respectful or disagreeing viewpoints.

There are people getting motion sickness on certain set FoVs. And the current default killer FoV is not the best for those those people.
the slider should definitely have reasonable max and min values and PTB test as well as further monitoring in live should help in finding that.
The only killer I was aware of that was linked to motion sickness was the nurse but I could stand corrected and wouldnt dream to contest or speak on the experiences of others. That said, I dont know if FOV sliders would be the best or only course to alleviate any problems of this sort. Anti-aliasing (NOT the one they currently use) would be the first place I'd look at for this issue.

As someone who runs Shadowborn a lot, the difference between finding survivors with and without it is incredibly minor. It's not as much of a balance issue as people say it is, it's simply a perk that enhances the gameplay if you prefer higher FOV, in which I do.
But yeah I'm sure we could test it out in a PTB.
Can I ask why you run the perk a lot then (Honest question - not trying to be rude)? The FOV on killers like Nurse make a significant difference.

That's not even a valid comparison?
I'm not trying to say theyre the same. I'm just saying that changing one thing because you dont like it doenst stop it from being a game breaking change. Whether thats your deliberate intention or not, that would be the result.

@glitchboi said:

It wouldn't be a huge buff at all. It helps with finding survivors a bit, but that's all it does. It's an accessibility feature locked behind a perk slot. I'm sure we could test out an FOV slider in a PTB.
Also stealth is boring anyways so who cares
It would help a lot with finding surviors. Depending on the extent of the sliders capabilities it could also be very powerful at loops.
"accessibility feature"? How could it possibly be considered an accessibility feature? What disability does the FOV hinder?
But I would be fine with testing on PTB. I think PTBs should be used more for these types of tests. That said - its hard to believe the data from these tests with how people deliberately skew the results on both sides (survivors suiciding and killers going afk to encourage deliberate nerfs)...
