Stealth killers aren't OP but it's sad some people are so bad at the game they want a already not so strong perk nerfed before the other real problems in this game it just shows some people are so selfish and can't own up to their mistakes they make and have to have a scapegoat to make themselves feel better , I don't run it all the time so I don't care if it's nerfed or not but it's laughable this is even a thread
A not-so-strong perk that is run extremely often. This is why you see so many Killers running fire up, too.
You calling it pathetic that as Killer you don´t want to be forced to never look into the direction you´re going is baffling. As of bad play, I can deal with SC. My main complaint is that the counterplay is riddiculous.
-
@The_Krapper said:
Spine chill doesn't even tell you the direction they're coming from, another complaining post that holds no value what a shocker from this place
Like it was hard to tell apart from maybe The Game or Hawkins. When I used SC, in over 2 years not a single Killer managed to get the jump on me, and I´m not exactly a great survivor. 99% of Killers can be avoided by stealthing away when it lights up, it´s just stupid.
-
It would have been more juicy if you had put 4 times the meat on it :P

I really don't care if they're considered good or not. Changing Spine Chill wouldn't make a difference. Deal with the fact you're not going to get free grabs and insta-downs on everyone.
What are you guys going to complain about next? Camaraderie lasting too long? I wouldn't be surprised.
If you think a perk that hurts bad to mediocre Killers more so than any others having no downsides and forcing these already bad Killers into riddiculous amounts of counterplay is fine you´re unbelievably biased.
Edit: spelling
-
@SleepyWillo said:
Then what would be the point of Spine Chill? Every other killer has a terror radius so the perk would just be pointless then? Nobody would use it for the speed boost. Unless you buffed the boost to work in the TR and not just when the killer was looking?
Either a rework or some form of limitation would be justified imo as of now it does it´s job way too good. The counterplay is stupid as ######### given the survivor has to do literally nothing to benefit from it, yet the Killer has to approach gens blind to prevent being noticed too early.
Either a lengthy cooldown or a token system should do.
-
@skarsguts said:
Why? So stealth killers can have extra easy mode?
Yeah right. They are all S-tier and too oppressive even against good squads, I need every help possible to deal with them because I like to browse reddit while working on a gen.
@MadLordJack said:
Ghostface takes 2.5 seconds to expose someone while leaning, if I am remembering correctly, so Spine Chill isn't really that big a deal since you get to 99 someone and maybe push them off a gen for free. But Myers... Yeah, maybe spine chill should deactivate. It doesn't seem that fair, given his terrible T1.
Myers does indeed suffer from it as the only good thing about EW1, the element of suprise, is severely damaged by it.
-
It´s been months since I´ve had one, and this isn´t even possible anymore, but if I got a 4-Blendette team I´d always use this face. I just want to blnd with them^^

I agree. I reckon Danny´s might be even more intriguing with more emphasis on the actual plotting and execution of his dirty little deeds ;-)
-
I also managed to get it with duration addons. Lucky me, 1st try, but I can see that depending on the map/survivors it might take a few attempts.
-
You need to chill dude, I just got my ass handed to me on rotten Fields as Myers with no addons against a 4 man with flashlights and 10k+ hours combined. It happens, move on.

I´d like one about Kenneth Chase aka Jeffrey Hawk aka the Clown.
It could go like this...
Starting during his childhood, the beginning of his descent into dark desires. He´s pretty much an average boy, friendly and curious. Including the story of his birth, briefly touching on his school and sports life - emphasis on his relation with the dentist. Young Kenneth being increasingly mentally isolated from his peers and his(abusive?) father. It´s around this time that his fetish sparks to life. The first act ending when he finds his way to the circus, one murder under his belt and nothing left to tie him to his previous life.
A time of relief - he feels at home with his newly found family. Maybe there´s hope for "Jeffrey". Possibly introduce love interest here. Maybe she might prevent him from completely giving in to his other side. He feels lost though, as he has given up his previous life and identity for good.
But as time goes by, the urges return. It´s the only thing that stuck with him throughout his life, or so he feels. With the newly found tools at his disposal, re resumes killing. Many more victims, and much more gruesome.
His degeneration progresses, mentally and physically.
So far we´re only within the already given lore. I´d like the movie to expand on his relation with the side characters, how they influence him. Maybe certain people acted as enablers of some sort.
No one seemed able to save him from his path to darkness, be it by neglect or indifference. I´d like that as kind of the core theme of it.
In the end, the sports loving boy that was interested in feathers is gone - once again, he gave everything about himself up except his ever burning sadism, the core of his life. There´s nothing left but the Clown persona behind empty eyes and lots of makeup. This would make for a nice beginning - ending contrast that developed so gradually and apparently unavoidable.
Last scene showing the escape of his last, heavily mutilated victim, exposing him as the monster he truly had become.
Of course his fetish should be expanded upon. Given how gross it is and depending how the rest is depicted it could shed a better light on how a certain kind of serial killers actually are - disgusting and demented, as a deterrent as to not glorify these killers.
It´s a tragedy about a boy that could have been saved. Not exactly a Slasher since the focus lies entirely on his mental development, but that´s how I´d imagine it.
I´d also love one about Oni. There´s so much they could do with that, I´d need more time to think about a good one there.

Thank you. =]
You´re welcome^^

I´m kinda torn on how to respond to this. If you were reading last night´s post you would have seen that people other than OP were pretty much grossed out by the idea. Only one person had a good joke on the matter.
As much as I think the reasoning behind starting this discussion is valid, I´d rather see the topic left untouched. Someone was genuinely hurt by the idea.
It has been mentioned that crossing certain lines would cause censorship issues in several regions, so there´s the legal aspect.
On the moral side it wouldn´t make much sense implementing something the players are disgusted by.
There are places on the internet for that kind of thing, DBD is not one of them.
-
I wanna know too. I´m on my journey to getting good with oni but haven´t used a mori yet.

This has touched me. I wish you guys well from the bottom of my heart. Rest in Peace.

Nice! It´s so rare meeting an experienced trapper main. I wonder, do you agree with my assessment? Do you have something do add, maybe?

I´ll sit on the first gen I come cross if I spawned without anyone else. If I spawned with other Survivor(s) I leave them and skip at least the next gen I see and sit on the one after that as to create more pressure for the Killer.

Only ones I'm kinda bummed about is add ons on escape fast vault requirements and great skill check nerf other than that they are fair. My issue is all the damn new killers mains acting like BVHR treats survivors as kings. These buffalo we are getting are the first real ones in years.
Well thank you. In my opinion the fast vault changes were justified too, but we can agree to disagree.
I have mixed feeling about the addon changes too. On one hand it´s only fair, given as Killer you lose your addons too.
On the other hand as a Survivor generally speaking less BP are earned, so idk.

I'm going to name a few nerfs that all started from 2.0. Tell me before the buffs currently what were the last survivor buffs?
Vacuum pallet removal (fair but still a nerf)
Window fast vault adjustment
BNP nerf (fair but still a nerf)
Insta heal nerf (fair but still a nerf)
Healing speed nerf
Shortening of most of the filler pallets
Decreasing minimum pallet spawn from 8 to 6
Multiple survivors on a gen speed decrease
Great skill check nerf
Map nerfs
Exhaustion nerf
Balanced landing nerf
MoM nerf (fair but still a nerf)
Losing add ons on escape
Toolboxes killed
Breakable walls on maps (closes good loops and good killers dont break them)
I'm going to leave it at there. There are way more but these are just a few.
Nice list you got there. All of these were reasonable and neccessary as without those DBD was the most unbalanced game I ever came across. I disagree with certain wordings as they seem a little bit loaded.
Are you upset about these or would you argue the heavy nerfing of Survivors wasn´t justified? Genuinely curious.

@Grimmy_Bluues said:
DS has been a problem that people have complained about for a very long time, and then they change pop. Killer options for gen defense are already limited between Ruin/Undying and Corrupt/Pop, nerfing gen defense instead of addressing why all killers run it is dumb.
Even if they didn't change DS, they could have buffed the weaker gen defense perks too. Options are getting even more limited, and the pop nerf only affects the low tier killers.
To be fair they announced a shift of thana from being a general slowdown to being a gen slowdown. Maybe the % numbers they are removing that affect healing will now be added towards gen slowdown. Would be neat.
-
I suggest we leave the matter buried, apparently it has been taken down anyway.
-
That highly depends. As I´m not as familiar with the report system as I should be, maybe @BigBrainMegMain , @MandyTalk or @Peanits might be able to elaborate on the issue.
-
What they did is a bannable offense. I hope you have any kind of proof such as a clip from their actions.
It´s a shame that it´s impossible to report such things without video evidence. I reckon most people do not record their games....

I never claimed that he ignored evidence. But he claimed that it was all just speculation with no proof. While it is speculation, there have been several threads lately about killers coming into eerily perfect matches for the survivors, along with a couple of people outright saying that a new workaround was found for the anti cheat system but refusing to go into details.
If you have some sort of issue with that then I'm not going to argue or debate on this. But dismissing the entire potential for people to cheat, when not even the greatest anti cheats can actually stop 100% of cheaters is asinine.
I do not have an issue with acknowledging such things- I´d just much rather prefer having something more than hearsay.
Do you have anything supporting that claim? I´m genuinely curious and not trying to downplay your theory.
-

You're not listening at all. The evidence for that has NOTHING to do with spine chilled. But keep trying to make it about that. I'm talking about Survivors finishing matches with perk and item loadouts perfectly designed to counter what the killer is using, not like "OH EMMM GEEE THEY USED SPINE CHILLED AND I AM STEALTH ERMAGERD THEY MUST BE HACKKERZ!".
But I doubt you'll even read this you're most likely going to ignore any evidence because "Its impossible for people to hack video games!"
Not meant to offend you but in order for him to ignore evidence you would have to provide it in the first place. I´m curious as of what you can offer in that regard.

People have apparently found a workaround again, there's been several reports of Killers running up against survivors who perfectly counter it
Might explain why I´m facing so many SC as Myers and Ghostface. Darn...

@The_Krapper said:

And yet you don't have a problem with it even with a stealth killer
While that may hold true, I still have problems with it. The counterplay is annoying af and hinders the Killer.
If they wouldn´t have had SC I´d have gotten way better stalkings in. Just by having this perk equipped the only saving grace of Myers horrendous early game, being "Undetectable", is severly diminished.
Given how valuable SC is I don´t think it´s justified that it isn´t limited by either a CD or a token system.
-
I really do not want to call double standards in regards to that because I´m genuinely convinced the DEVs are trying to make the game balanced to the best of their ability.
Instances like you are describing or the upcoming change to pop that reads exactly like it was meant to address DS give me a hard time doing so.
I´ve since come to terms with the idea that they design the game to be easier and more accessible as Survivor because they want to please as many players at any given time as possible so they retain lots of new players trying it out. This might also be why they are not looking into the innate balance issues of SWF.
If that´s the case and it works I´m actually kinda fine with it. Let playing Survivor remain easier if it helps DBD thrive.
I feel bad though for newer Killers. What do they get? Not only will they have to invest much more into DLCs to have viable builds but many of them won´t make it through the insane BM and trashtalking in a game that is by design stacked against them. I´d imagine it´s not fun for them getting told to kill themselves every single game for their first 100 matches or so.
Add to that that Killer mains tend to whine a lot, this makes it much harder for the DEVs to identify valid criticism. "Entitled Killermain at it again" when there are clearly certain issues that need to be dealt with.
-
To answer your question: Matchmaking IS busted. This is partly rooted in the fact that it´s so hard to determine skill in DBD.
I suggest running Kindred (or Bond), it helped IMMENSELY in my solo adventures.
I have a feeling teammates feel a little more pressured to act when it´s A) Obvious the Killer has left me on the hook and B) Everyone can see them clearly crouching in the corner doing nothing
-
You´ll get there. After a while you have the possible spawns memorised so well that it won´t be much of an issue anymore, especially with a totem detection perk like you already are using.
-
I´d argue there are Killer powers that suffer even more/ are more outdated. Trapper and Shape for example.
Though I think Pig is fine as is, for you Pig mains out there I wouldn´t object too much.
-
@Science_Guy said:
Or, maybe... they realized 60 seconds for a perk you can use on-demand 11 times in a game may be excessive in a way 60 seconds for a perk you can use once per match is not.
This post reveals one thing about the OP: salt.
But I´m afraid yours also reveals that you fail to acknowledge the obvious, tremendous power gap between the two.
I don´t exactly agree with OP´s reasoning here but it´s really hard not to call double standard from the DEVs in this case.
-
Totally not a common perk. Here my last two games :
-
I think the difference between the Killers is too big. I play Oni and Myers pretty much always without addons but I´d never try that with Trapper or GF since they´d be hindered way too much without them.

Where did I say that I will traverse the map to check a gen in a far corner ? You are creating some stupid situations. If you enjoy playing this game by tryharding to get 4K, it's your choice. Not mine. I have 0 problem with DS and BT and I can enjoy playing this game as killer.
Seems it´s not me who likes to make assumptions here. You DID inf act mention that you find other survivors on BBQ, so....yeah it doesn´t seem you´re intreested in having a reasonable argument but just spew some BS. Have a good one buddy
-
@Han said:
BHVR is trolling again. calling an at best mediocre perk a lose lose situation and overbearing.
Let me just remind you what thana does. In a best case scenario where all 4 survivors are injured, it reduces the healing/gen speed by 16% aka +2,5s for a normal heal. Even with selfcare it would only increase by 5s.
In what world is this a lose lose situation or overbearing??
And let's be honest, the buff to gen speed reduction will be minor, maybe +1% per stack.
I´m also afraid it will lose the little niche it has as of now. We have to wait for the actual numbers though. Maybe it will be a fair trade-off, but the numbers to justify that would have to be pretty high.

I can't imagine, cuz I always find another survivor thanks to chili. So I never take a BT or a DS in my games. If you know you are wasting times to chase the unhooked survivor. Why are you not looking around the hook for the savior ?
I can't understand. Are you playing survivor ? Have you fun by being hooked two or three times in a row ? I don't think. Let players play a game and play it. Stop trash talking the gameplay of someone if you're doing mistakes.
Well it could be argued that the misplay was on the Survivors side here. First the people that deliberately reveal themselves to BBQ and the troll that hides after unhooking a teammate.
In many matches it goes like this: You hook a Survivor. You move away to check the nearest gens. You may find someone, or you don´t. Do not expect the Killer to waste 40 seconds to traverse the map if someone is working on a gen in a far corner, that would just be stupid.
So now the Survivor got unhooked. You move back to check, but the savior hides and the poor guy that got basically farmed is hard not to notice. Unfortunately this happens quite a lot. What do you do? Ignore him and throw the game by spending a lot of time looking for someone that isn´t working on a gen? come on man.

It's not combatting slugging. Most slugs are 99.
This depends. Sure they might be 99ed but there are also situations where this can help, for example it can come in handy in stopping a Snowballing Oni. It IS a buff by definition. How much of a buff, we shall see.
-
Well it´s yet another tool to help combat slugging now and giving a BP bonus on top of that. I`ll start running it and see how it turns out.
If the numbers are decent but not OP I´m grateful they made the perk useful now.

He still desperately needs changes. Half the Trapper games I'm in are kinda pathetic and the Trapper has to sweat their ass off and make no mistakes to even get a 2k, and the other half are basement snowballs which either lead to a 2k or a free win in 60 seconds. It's really dumb
Can relate. It´s highly inconsistent but it´s kinda a core aspect of playing trapper.

Otz is a trapper main and a bit biased when it comes to the extent of buffs he would like to see on Trapper BUT many of the shortcomings around the killer are legitimate and even starting with making a brown bag addon base would fix basically being forced to run Iris stone (The newb's approach to trapping if people keep disarming you) or some form of bag no matter what (Similar to Wraith having a Windstorm requirement to be viable).
Getting unlucky trap spawns in the far dead corners of large maps like Ormond or Swamp is usually a feels bad disappointment as well that - unused traps being forced to being near generators so you can naturally patrol would be a fix for that issue.
I´d argue that Otz isn´t even that biased tbh. From what I can tell he´s a humble and reasonable guy, but opinions differ of course.
Case in point he´s strictly against letting trapper start with all of his traps as that might make him way too oppressive.
I´ve read about the windstorm issue several times now. I occasionally play Wraith but I don´t feel as hindered without Windstorm as I do with Trapper without a bag, but that´s just my opinion.

Eh, sorry for the shitpost. I was just salty after trying and failing to get my Wraith daily... spectacularly. Had to kill someone with my own hand. Forget that, couldn't even hook someone with my own hand... lol.
Wraith may be an underpowered killer - it doesn't help I'm also pure trash with him.
Trapper is fun to play - great killer for baby killers to play vs. baby survivors, but he just hasn't aged well in the meta. At all. And it's hard to buff him without making him very frustrating to play against at low ranks. Best I can think of is allowing him to start with the ability to carry 1 more trap (like having the bag)... OR having all his traps start closer to the center of the map, so he doesn't have to spend like 45 seconds going into a dead area if he wants to collect a trap.
Wraith and Trapper both need a mechanics update IMHO.
Agreed. I´d argue though that he´s actually kinda viable if you put a HUGE amound of hours into him and watch oz a lot ;-)
But seriously, something needs to be done to lessen the time required to use traps. The way they tend to spawn it´s often better to not bother trying to use them for it would cost too many gens for a rather minor benefit.

What a miserable day it has been. Had the day off work and spouse is engrossed in a new book.
Decided to hammer out some games today, get some practice in, maybe get a bit better at chases and try and get out of yellow ranks finally.
Haha...no dice.
I wish I was exaggerating when I say that today has been possibly the end of DbD for me, at least for the time being.
So far today: 6 games put me against 3-4 man groups involving higher ranking survivors queuing with a lowbie. You'd think they'd be nice, have some fun and earn some BP if they were going to do this sort of thing - but no, their express purpose was to get as many gens done as fast as possible and then teabag me from the entrance and mock me in postgame.
Another 5 had me up against 3-4man SWFs, nearly all running Object and every one with full meta perks and insane levels of coordination, meaning that if I was lucky I'd get 1-2 hooks all game.
The final 2 actually felt like my rank, where I was able to get a kill or two, practice chases against people who didn't immediately vanish off into the horizon and finally feel like I was having fun. But...yeah.
On top of this, there seems to be...something up with lobbies. Trying to learn Wraith, but every time I pick him, two or three flashlights pop out just before game starts. If I switch to Doctor - don't see it. Does Wraith have some weird tell in the lobby that I'm unaware of? Or is this just paranoia brought on by a legitimately foul experience?
I don't know. I really don't.
BHVR - why on earth did you remove killer matchmaking and the matchmaking protections against smurfing? When you can clearly see that it's two or three high rankers and one lowbie (who still has full meta perks and a tricked out toolbox, somehow) something is amiss.
Anyways, yes, cry moar and git gud and all that. But I'm starting to hit my limits here. It's one thing getting outplayed, or having a nice even two kill game in amongst the crushing defeats - however when I'm getting ground into the dirt and spat upon literally every game...it's very difficult to keep on plugging away.
Cheers all, going to go be sad for a bit. I really do love this game - but at present, it feels more like an abusive spouse than a loyal friend.
- EDIT, and there we go again. I join lobby on Wraith, three flashlights pop out and after checking profiles, two of the people facing me have 1k hours plus. What on earth...?
Dam. Such bad streaks stink man. I´m taking an extended break from Trapper for how many teams use Object nowadays.
Maybe taking a break is the right call though, I´ve done so too and to be honest it helps not burning out from the game. Cheers, hope your mood lightens soon!
